Medblr- Elevate others to greatness
I made a thing!  Didactics were especially boring. I added some oak leaves since they represent great age and strength.

27, 39, 44!
27 - Do you like your cereal crunchy or soggy?
CRUNCHY! But I’ll still eat it when it’s soggy.. which happened this morning because I got distracted...
39 - What is one thing you would want to teach your children?
There’s a lot of failure on the way to success.
44 - If you could travel back to any era, which would you choose?
I’m not sure that I would want to... I mean, no vaccines?! Ehhhhh...

captainmudphud replied to your post “Just missed an honors eval from an OB rotation notorious for hard...”
Third year grading is such a huge, steaming pile of bullshit. Haha.
Dude for real haha. It seemed like my psych attending just went down the page and tossed in some substandard scores to make it look like he was trying. I’m a little curious as to how else I’d get an “average” for integrity. Didn’t drop my letter grade though, so I wasn’t that upset.
modernathena90 replied to your post “Just missed an honors eval from an OB rotation notorious for hard...”
Do you guys have any slightly lower level? We're doing honors/pass with commendation/pass/fail now. Hoping to get a PwC on OBGYN/Peds and an Honors in FM!
Ours is honors/high pass/pass/fail with the shelf exams subdivided into pass/low pass. Hoping I got honors on my first IM rotation since the rotating intern did ours and she liked our team... of course, she also left us with some parting advice that shelf scores and evals didn’t really matter as much as we thought. Nor does Step 1 as long as you passed and killed Step 2.
She’s in a pretty competitive specialty so I feel inclined to take stock of her advice.

Yup! If I were you I would do it; go ahead and ask them, very nicely of course! hehe

Conversation
During seminar
Lecturer: What do you guys think about addiction? Name a few of them.
Everyone: Umm..its bad? Alcohol. Cigarettes.
Lecturer: Anything else?
Me: *whispers to my friend* (I have an addiction)
Friend: *wide eyed* (what?)
Me: *still whispering* (I'm serious. I'm addicted to sleep. I can't get enough of it)
Friend: *Laughs out loud*
Lecturer: What's so funny? Care to share with rest of us?
Friend: "R" just said that she's addicted (dramatic pause) to sleep!
Lecturer: Me too! Just can't seem to get enough of it!
Everyone: *laughs*
Me: (Thank god. I thought I was gonna get in trouble 😅)

Can't wait to hear about your residency stories and imagine you ruling the hospital in a pair of Docs and a leather trench coat shaped like a white coat😘
hehe oh you!! Thank you so much for the love and support. I promise I’ll make you proud and be a proper terror! ;)

Tagged by modernathena90
Once you get this you have to say five positive things about yourself, publicly, then send to ten of your favorite followers (non negotiable) (positivity is cool)
Since reblogthisformewilson got tagged, wayfaringmd and cranquis will each post 5 positive things about themselves -- scrambled up and without delineating whose are whose:
Though I don't have a large group of close friends, I am extremely loyal to the ones I have.
My sense of humor is quirky and nerdy and my friends and family love it.
I can (often) keep children calm during medical procedures by singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," challenging the child to pick any animal and I will attempt to realistically imitate that animal's noise.
Ever since I was 12 years old, random strangers or acquaintances have told me I am "very easy to open up to" about difficult or stressful things.
I can memorize song lyrics quickly, including fast and complicated rap songs ;).
Without using my hands, I can "fold" my toes together, just like other people interlace their fingers for prayer. (This is a positive thing, right?)
I can make my mother laugh any time I choose.
I can "read" people and situations very quickly and accurately.
I'm very flexible in uncomfortable or rapidly changing situations.
I never forget to feed a pet.
You may now guess which #'s belong to each of us!

modernathena90 replied to your post “erm… this foot injury I got on Saturday night might be worse than I...”: Please go see someone, PDTN
I asked the ortho intern about it at lunch. She said it could be an avulsion fracture or a full/partial ligament tear. Whether I need surgical intervention will depend on how it affects my QOL so we agreed that I’d go easy on it this week and see if it got better. So far, the swelling is a lot less and I can walk without it looking like I have a neurological problem.
Which means I have to not do super heavy deads or squats if any at all. Not because I drive from that part of my foot, but because that part is involved in stabilizing if I get slightly off balance...

i always wondered why white people were so into...
That is like the fanciest oatmeal I’ve ever heard of. Also I’m a super super white person and I can’t stand oatmeal.
i'm sort of an "eh oatmeal" person -- i'd rather eat congee, which is basically the chinese version of oatmeal but with rice instead of oats and you set out all of these little dishes that you can eat it with -- but i think quaker's little "apple cranberry walnut" real medleys oatmeal cups are pretty good. but why pay $3-4 for that when i can make a much bigger serving using stuff that's already in my kitchen?

11, 14, 20??
11. would i rather be stranded on a desert island with someone i love for ten years or someone i hate for a month? explain why.
Depends who. Though, I’m leaning toward the person I hate for a month because it’s only a month, and she would fail at surviving in the wild so much that it would be amusing.
14. something i do without realizing.
Tap pencils, click pens, twirl pencils, poke things with pencils.. The tapping drove my sophomore year roommate crazy ha
20. press ctrl v and post.

that's why i hold my hand over the cord while it's being cut. I've seen people get squirted in the eye before from poorly clamped cuts.
lol I was standing six feet away too. high velocity stuff

STOP SCARING ME I START TOMORROW YOU JERK
well...
1. I’m easily rattled
2. walked in on the busiest damn shift
3. the resident threw 1000 pages of instructions at me and didn’t have time to explain them
4. LOTS of new abbrevs to learn
5. learned (sort of) how to interpret fetal strips on the fly
6. figured out how the resident wants notes
7. resident was still cool whenever I forgot stuff
point being you’ll be fine! you’ve been on more rotations than I have. I went from the world’s slowest psych rotation to... this. like taking a sloth and throwing it into a speedboat

for my carefree colleague
You galloped through the pediatric wing stethoscope in hand, a little girl on your shoulders A gaggle of screaming children -small, and large, young and old, patient and doctor- gave chase, pillows in hand, with gleeful abandon The joy you brought with your holiday cheer more infectious than the impetigo spread by your impromptu game of pillow tag The tots are now tucked back in their beds as we in the doctor’s lounge take our antibiotics But no one is complaining Except the hospital safety team
Happy Holidays. We’ve flavored your amoxicillin with peppermint.
This White Elephant Poem/Gift is hereby presented to md-admissions from modernathena90.
