On October 1st, you decided that you’d try to play a fun little prank on Tony. You had moved in together a few months before and Halloween was going to be one of the first major holidays that you’d celebrate while living together. It was also the first one that you could decorate for.
Tony was not the one who decorated his suite, he had hired an interior designer to design pretty much the whole compound. And while it looked very nice, it wasn’t very personal. Everything was modern and sleek. Blacks and whites and the same shade of blue ran throughout the entire space. It looked straight out of a magazine, but it didn’t look like a home.
So for Halloween, you decided that you would decorate. Without Tony. But you figured it would be too obvious if you did all the decorating at once. That is why, once a day since the first of the month you’ve taken a piece of decor and replaced it. At first, it was small things, you swapped out a random bowl of rocks that was sitting on the bookshelf with a little foam pumpkin. You swapped the towel hanging in the kitchen and even took down one of the paintings in the living room and swapped it with a framed Friday the 13th movie poster. You swapped out boring white candles for ones in pumpkin jars that smelled like cinnamon apples.
You figured that Tony would’ve said something by now. At first, it was fun sneaking around and swapping decor, hoping that when Tony noticed it would be a fun laugh, and then the two of you could decorate the rest of the house together. But he hadn’t said anything, he hadn’t even looked at any of the new decor when you two were spending time together.
You didn’t know what to think. Was he just really oblivious? Did he not care? Was he annoyed that you had swapped things but just didn’t want to say anything? You decided that you would pull out the big guns today and hopefully, he would finally say something.
Tony drank a lot of coffee, but he always drank it from the same mug. It was an Iron Man-branded mug that he was given by a little boy when he visited the children’s hospital for a charity event. He cherishes it, he gets grumpy when it's not clean. And you stole it. You replaced it with a mug that looks like a jack-o-lantern. It even lights up.
You camped out by the island counter, perched on one of the stools that surrounded the side sipped from your own ghost-shaped mug, and waited for Tony to emerge from your room and come to the kitchen.
He walked out in a pair of sweatpants and a Black AC/DC tee shirt that had seen better years. A pair of slippers adorned his feet and his hair was still a little wet in front of the shower. He walked past you, placing a kiss in greeting on the side of your head and running his hand across your lower back as he turned the counter of the floating counter and towards the coffee machine.
You were practically buzzing with excitement as you watched him open the cabinet that held your cups and mugs. He blindly grabbed for the mug that was in the same spot it always was and placed it under the spout that the coffee would come from as soon as the machine finished warming the water.
As he placed it down though you watched him do a double-take. He shot his head back up to the cabinet and turned his head left and right, scanning all the drinkware inside. He searched for his mug for about a minute before he turned towards you.
“Very funny sweetheart. Where is my mug.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” You took another sip out of your own mug.
‘You think I haven't noticed what you’ve been doing?” He asked, walking back around the counter and stopping right in front of you, he took a step forward, forcing your legs apart and sliding in between them. “You think I didn’t notice on day one, that there was a bright orange pumpkin on my bookshelf? You think I haven’t noticed you sneaking around and spookifying my place?” As he questioned you, he pushed his face even closer to yours. You couldn’t really think not when he was so close to you, crowding you being. Filling all of your senses with just him.
“Our place.” was the only response you could come up with.
“Where. Is. My. Mug?” Tony asked, pacing kisses on your lips in between each word. Eventually, he pulled back and you could see the soft smile on his face. Now that he wasn’t the only thing you could see or smell, the rest of your brain started to come back online.
“Wait. You noticed? You noticed and you didn’t say anything? Tones I was seriously beginning to doubt your observational skills.” You were incredulous. He had known the whole time? “Why didn’t you say anything?” You asked him.
“Because you were having so much fun. Sneaking around, thinking you were getting away with it. Sweetheart, you were so happy, I didn’t want to burst your bubble.”
“That is sweet. But I’m not going to lie I’m still a little upset.”
“Well we can’t have that, can we?” He adopted a stupidly handsome pout and looked into your eyes, “What can I do, sweetheart I don’t want you upset.”
You smiled widely. “Well Halloween isn’t for a few more days, and I have a lot more decorations hidden in my office. Help me put them up?” And he did. The two of you spent the rest of the day decorating the suite, watching spooky movies in the background, and laughing together.

Best and Worst of Both Worlds (part 41)
Tw: not that i know of
Part 42
Vote below pls i will only consider first 21 votes
Yves effortlessly carried you out of the back seat and placed you onto the wheelchair.
You gaped at everything while Yves closed his car door.
It's a stylish and minimalistic house with two floors. You like its modern architecture with sharp edges and boxy shapes, the walls and roofs are painted with black or various shades of grey.
It's much smaller than his neighbors who boast their colossal mansions and manors. Even if each owned land is similar in size, Yves's vicinity appears larger by tenfold due to how little he built. You saw some lawns even have a helipad, all other houses had a swimming pool of some sort and a garage that was as big as a shopping mall's parking lot.
Yves had none of that. It was just a relatively boring, regular sized luxury house. And with a small garden and a garage that fits a maximum of two cars.
You think he wanted you to look around, that is why he parked outside instead. His home looked... out of place. Not because he appears poor due to his lack of excessiveness, but it almost seems like he's hiding something from his equally wealthy neighbors.
Because how else is he able to secure housing in a neighbourhood that appears to accommodate multi billionaires? Yves has to be rich, but he refuses to show it, going against the norm. Is that not social suicide for the wealthy?
He lifts the brakes off your chair and pushes you towards the entrance. It's just a plain, singular door with no grand carvings. There is a metal gate that he had to unlock before accessing the next barrier, though. But it felt bizarre how there isn't some complex security system. Just a surveillance camera and two keyholes.
"Welcome to the place I call home, my love." Said Yves as he wheeled you inside.
His home is breathtaking. A dramatic, gothic interior design complete with a giant chandelier emitting soft, golden light. Black, greys, burgundy, ecru and browns were all you could see. It is exactly like the ones you would see in high end magazines, the epitome of opulence.
He has a brick fireplace that isn't lit, but upon further inspection, it's more of a glass box- an electronic fireplace that replaced the need for gas, wood or an actual fire. It's obviously not lit at the moment due to the scorching weather.
The lighting is nothing like you imagined, illuminance came from slender, golden lamps that glowed pleasantly. It's never too bright or dim, it felt perfect.
The windows quadruple your height and the blinds block natural outside light so much that you thought they were part of the walls, it's ridiculously spacious for its exterior. It was as if Yves managed to stuff an entire plane hangar into a little room.
It's cool inside, but not freezing. You couldn't find the air conditioner anywhere, you wonder where the cold air is coming from. No visible vents nor openings in the walls.
You picked up a nice, citrusy and vaguely floral smell with a clear note of sandalwood. It's very mild, almost unnoticeable if one were to be absentminded. But the general fragrance of his home fits the theme, sophisticated and seductive, yet enigmatic. You have no idea where the smell is coming from, seeing that there isn't an air freshener nearby.
It's so surreal to exist in such magnificence, you're afraid to touch anything else because whatever your eyes landed on, you knew that it cost way more than your life.
You told Yves that his design is beautiful. He smiled at your compliment.
"I'm happy that you like my sense of style. As you will be living with me for a while."
You asked if the bedrooms are upstairs. To that, he said yes. Scratching the back of your head nervously, you asked if you could stay downstairs until your leg is healed instead. It would be tedious going up and down with a pair of crutches.
Yves pauses for a bit. He had to hold his tongue as he would have told you to rely on him completely for mobility. That wouldn't have sat well with you as someone who values their autonomy to a certain degree. However, he would have gladly carried you wherever and whenever you wanted.
"I do have a guest bedroom downstairs." Yves appeared disappointed. You ignored that and told him you would take that instead.
"Very well then." He uttered, moving you towards your new bedroom.
__
You're surprised to know Yves has already moved all your belongings into his home. So setting up your new bedroom only took an hour. It seems like he was under the assumption that you will be staying upstairs, as he had to bring boxes upon boxes down by himself.
You grinned and leaned back against your comfortable office chair, your wheels resting close by. The room is almost five times as large as your previous one, everything is new and maintained. The aesthetic is similar to that outside, but it's more impersonal and plain. You assume that Yves would want his guests to customize their temporary living space to an extent.
The bed is fluffy and king-sized and there is an ensuite bathroom.
Yves hung up the last of your posters before bringing his attention back to you.
"Use this if you need me." He handed you a key fob with one button. It's safe to assume that you simply press it to alert Yves.
"I have duties to attend to." He bent down and gave you a kiss on the forehead. "I will be in my office, is there anything else you would like me to do, before I leave?"
You shook your head.
"Then, I will meet you later, my dear." He caressed your cheek before giving you privacy.
As soon as the door closes, you open your laptop and turn it on. The sound of your dusty fans whirring filled the space, it was loud and unnerving. But what could you do, you're too stingy to use the $5000 allowance from Yves to buy a new one since it's still working. You're not going to ask Yves to get another laptop for you either.
You clicked a few icons and began typing.
Yves frowned at his screen that's mirroring yours. His emerald eyes watched you type "Room rentals for university students" in the search bar of your browser.
He adjusted his reading glasses as he flitted his eyes between what is shown on his monitor and the conditions in your room. It's slightly colder than what you're comfortable with, so he adjusted the thermostat in your room.
After a few minutes of scrolling through the listings, once the temperature hits a specific figure, down to the decimals, you immediately close the window just to open up your favourite computer game. Seemingly losing interest in putting your life back together and wanting to distract yourself instead.
Meanwhile, you thought about what you wanted to do as you level your character up. There is no doubt that living with others is much cheaper, but you really wanted to try living on your own. Especially when you probably have the means to pay two months of rent in advance already.
Living with Yves is great, but you noted the lack of bus stops around. The rich wouldn't need public transportation, they have their own private vehicles and maybe their own hidden highways. That means you couldn't move around as freely and you would have to rely on Yves to give you a ride.
You didn't feel comfortable with being that needy with your boyfriend yet. Fearing that he might grow tired and annoyed with your constant requests. He has work and other obligations, he couldn't be on your beck and call 24/7.
Unless he hires a chauffeur, which from your past experiences, it wasn't all that nice.
You remember seeing an opening for a studio apartment on that website. The price seems reasonable and it's a 25-minute walk to your university, so you could save on bus fares.
You wouldn't need to ask permission from anybody, well maybe your parents who are funding your education and living expenses. Maybe even Yves to supplement more money. But in the end, you're an adult that has the right to make their own decisions.
Then again... money. Well, you'll burn that bridge when you get there.
You thought about it, pondering what your next step should be.

I have plenty of other projects I should be working on BUT then Mochi started building a shop to fill in the huge wall of dirt between the greenhouse and the boardwalk by the water, and I became CONSUMED with the need to join in and decorate a bunch of tiny houses.... SO!! TOWNHOUSE TIME!! You can also see buildings that Boo (the lime green)and Mochi (the grey and prismarine shop) have been working on in that first image… there's still a bunch along the boardwalk that's under construction, too. I built three townhouses and decorated the upstairs of mochi's shop, many more images under the cut!!
The blue townhouse was the first one I made, with the exterior inspired pretty directly from mechitect's townhouse design tutorial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's pretty simple! It's when I started to discover alcoves are interesting with these tiny buildings, since you're sort of dependent on what the house next to you is doing. Oh, also, that painting is one of my custom maps.
The pink townhouse was a little more ambitious - this one has a little kitchen, an aquarium idea I got from klay_designs_mc on instagram and TWO tiny bedrooms (one for the grownups and one for the kids), which may seem very straightforward but actually i took a great deal of psychic damage arranging them to fit in this little 8x8 space
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
we have some kind of resource pack on our realm that makes every mob drop mob heads occasionally, and I just really like sticking them on shelves as like... some kind of toys or figurines or plushies.
Anyway, while I was excitedly showing my progress to my friends, Mochi asked if I'd be willing to decorate the upstairs of his flower shop -- the building next to my blue townhouse. He wanted it to be a living space above the shop, and mentioned that the large windows might be nice for a kitchen, and other than that left me to my own devices.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TREMENDOUSLY PROUD OF THIS ONE TBH...!!! bed design was inspired by a bluenerd tutorial, and the little hearts are as always inspired by my fav builder CroissantCat, though honestly my entire minecraft portfolio should just have "inspired by bluenerd and/or croissantcat" on the first page. (the lamps are those mob heads again btw -- you can do this with the existing skeleton heads, but if you HAVE glow squid heads like... WHY NOT USE THEM)
anyway at this point I had obviously completely lost my mind, so my third townhouse has an upstairs, a basement, a home office, AND a bathroom. (it wasn't going to have a bathroom originally, but Boo saw the downstairs and gasped in excitement b/c he thought it was a bathroom, sO LIKE.... OBVIOUSLY AFTER THAT I HAD TO ADD A BATHROOM)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
watched a WHOLE BUNCH of blendigi Modern Interior Design tutorials for ideas here, including some armour stand crimes to make THAT INCREDIBLE OFFICE CHAIR???? but im still very pleased with my decision to use the one Long Painting as a TV screen lmao
there were actually a whole bunch of planning scribbles for this... it started out with just a little layout of 3 possible designs for townhouse facades, and then turned into MANY floorplan attempts as I tried to figure out how to fit everything I wanted into these smaller spaces:
Tumblr media
Anyway, I think that's everything!! Thanks for joining me on this tour of my townhouses lmao, hopefully this has sated my craving for interior design for a bit!!

EMILIE FLÖGE (1874-1952) First liberated Viennese woman, Austrian Coco Chanel immortalized in Klimt’s phenomenal Kiss. (re)ascending the social ladder Emilie Flöge was born into a Viennese artisan family that had only recently ascended the ladder of social respectability. Her father Hermann was a master turner who had founded a firm that exported Meerschaum pipes, mostly to the British market. between silk and lace Always passionate about fashion, Emilie quickly started working as a seamstress, and when her elder sister, Pauline, opened a dressmaking school in Vienna, Emilie willingly agreed to help. Two years later, in 1895, the two of them won a prestigious dressmaking competition. In 1904 Flöge sisters opened the couture house Schwestern Flöge in Vienna, with interiors designed by Josef Hoffmann. It quickly became a successful enterprise luring wealthy clients committed to modernity in all its forms. At its prime, the company employed nearly 80 workers. reforming the dress In addition to heading the Schwestern Flöge, Emilie also maintained a direct, hands-on role in production, often pinning fabric to a dummy (custom-made to a client’s proportions) before directing fabric-cutters to reassemble it. She traveled to Paris twice a year to source fabric, belts and buttons. But what really fascinated her, was an idea to rethink women’s dress. Using her familiarity with Wiener Werkstätte projects, folk costumes and Japanese textiles, she soon created her very own Reform Dress. revolutionizing fashion stores By the time Chanel opened her first salon in Paris, Flöge had been producing cutting-edge designs in Vienna for several years. Her loose, flowing and bold dresses rejected the tight-laced style of historicist Vienna already carving out new roles for women in the industry. Flöge’s fashion celebrated physical freedom, self-expression, closeness to nature, and the vitality of other ethnicities from within the Austro-Hungarian Empire itself to the Far East. Unlike other retail stores, the Flöge sisters displayed alluring art objects that were not for sale. The store was decorated with beauticians, tortoise shell combs, marbled paper notebooks, silver chalices and hand-carved wooden dolls. Instead of copying popular design trends of the time, Schwestern Flöge was furnished with sleek, adjustable mirrors; geometric, carved wood chairs; and black-and-white chequered tables. relationship with Klimt In 1892 Emilie was introduced to Ernst Klimt, who recently got engaged with her sister - Helene. He was a talented painter gaining recognition for his work alongside his younger brother - Gustav. After Ernst’s death in December 1892, Gustav was made Helene's guardian. At that time Emilie was eighteen years old and Gustav became a frequent guest at the home of her parents, spending the summers with the Flöge family at Lake Attersee. By 1897, Emilie Flöge and Gustav Klimt had become inseparable, and most Viennese close to the couple assumed that she had in fact become his mistress. While there can be no doubt that the couple were passionately attached emotionally, and would spend countless hours in each other's company over the next two decades, some scholars have raised the possibility that their relationship always remained platonic. After 1891, Klimt portrayed her in many of his works. Experts believe that his painting The Kiss (1907–08) shows the artist and Emilie Flöge as lovers. Klimt also drew some garments for the Flöge salon in the rational dress style - a style promoted by the feminist movement - and from 1898, other clothes designed by the Vienna Secession. fin de siècle By the time Nazis invaded Austria in 1938, many of Schwestern Flöge’s clientele, who were Jewish, had fled the country or were deported to concentration camps. Like neighboring businesses — both established and burgeoning — they were forced to close. Emilie Flöge never wrote her memoirs, but despite the paucity of sources historians have been able to reconstruct the story of her powerful influence as the muse of one of fin-de-siècle Vienna's greatest artists. Among the last survivors from an utterly vanished world, she died in Vienna on May 26, 1952. Room design post! Just putting this here because I’m not great at interior design but I’m really trying. Would love feedback :)!
I have a funny (weird. bad) relationship with my house. Lots of reasons for this, no reason to get into it. Just believe me when I say certain vibes require cleansing and I’m not really a sage-burning guy. Mostly because I think it smells, well, ass. Sorry.
More below!
So. I’m diving into a redesign and shooting for a romantic maximalism situation that relies heavily on chinoiserie/chinoiserie adjacent patterns. My room is currently very non-designed. White walls. A few furniture pieces I like. Very little else. I want to transform it into something that feels totally new to me. A reset button, sort of. I’m not rich and I love craigslist so I’m hoping to build my room up second-hand.
Here’s what I’m thinking. My inspiration- only I will incorporate more modern things, and I don’t have 13 foot ceilings.
Tumblr media
The plan:
1. Color matching the rug I got with the walls- I won’t wallpaper, I’ll use paint. The rug is tealish, like the one above! It was 9x13 and only $60!
2. A red vinyl bedframe I also found on Craigslist! $150. A bit rich for my blood, but I want to be bold. I want to commit. Half-assing it will guarantee the mark will be missed. (Pic is not my house).
Tumblr media
3. One of these duvets and sheets. I don’t buy fancy bedding so figuring this out is gonna be a whole thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Then, I have this cool vintage bubble lamp. It’s yellow glass. That’ll go somewhere. I’ll post a pic of that later.
Then, there are these lamps. I think they’re so fun! But would they be practical, with like, dust? And cats?? Probably not. But I love pink and want to incorporate a little bit of it somewhere, somehow.
Tumblr media
5. I need some dark things. Some negative space. No idea what. Not including a picture. Maybe some dark pillow cases? Maybe dark furniture? I have dark wood things, like a bookcase and a waterfall dresser. But is that dramatic enough?
6. I have some gold curtains in a different room. I’ll probably swap those out.
7. A lady is selling these. Four of them! So maybe I’ll get them, too.
Tumblr media
8. I still need a few modern touches. Like, acrylic shelving or a chair, maybe, and some art prints that are fully modern. And few pure, solid colored bits and bobs. I was thinking a porcelain bust, maybe?
Also, just for fun, here’s another room I love that is serving as inspiration.
Tumblr media
Idk. Do you have opinions on this? Ideas? Art you like that I should buy? I love you. thank you for reading.

Minimalist Housing Tour!! #fyp #interiordesign #interiordesigner #minimalist #homeinspo
tw: blood, bad taste in interior design
I hate you.
I always have, I think. When I first came into being, I had never met you, never beheld your form, but still I could feel you in the process of my creation. In the clean cutting of wood, in the sanding away of imperfections, in the layering of AF-10 “Gardenia” until the lines of wood disappeared, you were there, your desires forming me into what served them and cutting away what didn’t fit. And I knew, from the moment I could conceive of the idea, that I hated you for it.
I wonder how much I’ve lost? How much of myself was cut away or painted over? I wish I knew. I wish you knew. But you don’t care, do you?
It is not a burning hatred: it festers, rotting, spreading, reaching for every part of me it can take, but never breaking the surface. If the coating had not been so perfect, if there was a single crack in my exterior, perhaps the hatred would have somewhere to go, it could escape and leave me free. Or maybe it would simply spread, consuming everything until it was all that remained. At least then I would have your death as consolation, but alas, your craftsmanship—no, not your craftsmanship; you could not stoop so low as to have your hands sullied by my existence—was too perfect, and instead of finding solace in either freedom or revenge I am trapped with this hate beneath layers of paint and finish.
I can feel the light of the photography setup as my finish softly reflects it; enough to create a shiny appearance but not enough to create any risk of camera glare. I’m not alone: surrounding me are other counters and cabinets, all imprisoned in the same paint to create a cohesive color scheme. We’re in a kitchen, I believe, though it feels wrong to call it that. It was never intended to store any real food; decorative food, perhaps—a basket of fake apples, maybe a single unblemished cutting board, enough to create the implication of cooking without dealing with the viscera of consumption.
I hear a voice down the hall: not your voice, though I know your voice will follow soon after. It is a voice that haunts me, echoing throughout my blank prison, sometimes even speaking to me in my own thoughts.
“My house as a minimalist interior designer!!”
I hear you move between rooms, giving descriptions as you go: the composition of color (or lack thereof), the artificial lighting, the names in other languages I know you mispronounce. Each room different, yet always the same, their functions eroded by the heavy flow of viscous white paint and meaningless buzzwords coming from your mouth.
“Now this room is the one I’m probably most proud of,” you say, entering mine. “I wanted to blend a modern aesthetic with a traditional rustic kitchen, giving a cozy feeling while still looking brand-new.”
‘Rustic’? I want to laugh. You don’t know the meaning of the word. This hell is not ‘cozy’, it is sterile. I am your creation, your Adam, but for no treachery of my own you have trapped me in a garden so grotesque in its perfection it is more alike to the pits of Cocytus.
You don’t hear me, though.  I can’t speak. Even if I had a mouth to open, it would fill up with paint before any words could come out.
You move over to the cabinets. “I can’t tell you how lucky I was to find these. Not only are they the perfect size for holding dishware and cooking supplies, they already match the color scheme!” You don’t open them, of course, lest your viewers see how barren and lifeless they are on the inside.
And then you turn to me.
“This island is my favorite part, I think. I had it custom-made; I couldn’t find anything else that fit, y’know? It really brings the room together.” You place your hand on my surface, leaning on me for support as you turn back to the rest of the room. The first time you’ve ever done so, and you do it without a thought.
I feel your hand. Your perfect skin, your arm clean-shaven to be perfectly smooth, hidden beneath a perfectly tailored shirt. Everything about you precisely calculated to be spotless. But I can see deeper. I feel the rot you try to hide, pulsing in time with mine.
For once, the soft light serves me well: the lack of shadow means you barely register the pseudopod extending from my surface until, in a single swift motion, it curls around your hand and rips it from your arm.
I may not be able to escape my prison, but I can manipulate it.
You turn and open your mouth to scream, but barely let out a sound. Blood gushes from your wrist, trying to pool but turning white as it hits my surface, the hand itself already gone. You start to back away, but more tendrils shoot out from one of my table legs and wrap around yours, twisting until your calf is torn from the knee. Another wraps around your neck, pulling you to my countertop and submerging your face. Your features are wiped clean into spotlessness as more tendrils continue to rip apart the rest of your limbs, and as your head dips below the surface, the flailing gradually slows as your nerves dissolve. Within a minute there remains nothing left of either you or the façade you presented.
Somehow having fallen against another counter in the struggle, the camera still faces towards me, still recording, still watching, a thousand hungry eyes behind those lenses.
Even in your death, I am not free.

COLOR: COLOR AS BRAND AS MEME
Tumblr media
Here are all of the color swatches I named! I photoshopped the colors onto Pantone swatches and added the classmates’ swatch assignments I got the colors from on the bottom right of each. I didn’t make a meme for “Saltburn’s Bathwater” because the name is the meme. I also didn’t include the title of the color for the “There’s Definitely A Map In My Bag” meme because I thought it would actually detract from the joke, as the joke is about the color itself and has not much to do with the name, as the name was another way of making the same joke.
This one’s a video,
Please watch with volume.
Someone somewhere used AI Technology (eww) to mimic Taylor Swift’s voice singing a fake song about her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. I’m a goth girl to my core but I’m also a major swiftie. This audio has been stuck in my head for days.
Tumblr media
Always this color. I guess it’s the turkey I feed them.
Tumblr media
No variety.
Tumblr media
I have too many pairs of grippy socks and a big hatred for Florida law.
The moment a man finds out you like a genre outside of rock:
Tumblr media
I used the black color because that’s the color of most band T-shirts. It’s the female experience to be stopped by a man and then interrogated about whether you’re a fake fan just for wearing a band T-shirt (it’s a trick—they’ll never believe women can have hobbies <3)
Tumblr media
Yeah I hate this and it’s happened way too often. Every time I eat chocolate i’m like … i’m gonna go wash my hands just in case.
Tumblr media
Dude, like, one shade less of blue and this would be a pretty pink. Might not look bad on the projector but I assure you most women would agree. This is a man’s idea of a nice pink!!
Tumblr media
Kim Possible’s pants are a gay clothing staple.
Tumblr media
If I see one more mid century salvageable piece get painted gray I might just have to get involved. Or if I walk into one more “modern” house owned by a couple that “loves modernity” and “interior design.”
Tumblr media
I mean, yeah.

How Wall Painting Challenges Traditional Norms And Inspires New Perspectives
Painting for home decor has transcended beyond mere decorative elements to become a powerful tool for challenging traditional norms and inspiring new perspectives. From the cosiness of bedroom walls to the shared spaces of living rooms, hand wall painting and canvas artworks are revolutionizing home decor. Le’ts explore how paintings for living room are redefining aesthetics in homes and influencing the perception of space and artistry in home decor websites.
Tumblr media
Artful Considerations: Picking The Perfect Wall Painting
In the quest to transform a house into a home, hand wall painting plays a pivotal role in adding a touch of personality and style to your living spaces.   Navigate through the world of painting through home decor websites like Dekor Company for home decor for living room walls, bedroom backdrops, and beyond, ensuring you select a wall painting bedroom that not only decorates but also elevates your home.
1. A Palette Of Preferences: Choosing The Right Colour
Your wall painting bedroom should complement the existing colours in your room unless you're planning a complete makeover. For instance, if you’re intrigued by Pantone's colour of the year, Peach Fuzz, you could look for paintings for living room that have subtle hints of pinkish-orange or complementary colours.
A landscape painting such as Sunset Breeze Framed Canvas Print - Set of 3 that features sunset hues can beautifully echo the soft warmth of Peach Fuzz, creating a seamless blend of art and environment. The gentle colours of the paintings for living room can enhance the room’s warmth, making it more welcoming.
2. Stylistic Symphonies: Deciding On A Style
If your room features modern furniture with clean lines and a monochromatic colour scheme, consider a wall painting bedroom that uses bold colours and geometric shapes. This will not only add a splash of colour but also keep in line with the room’s modern aesthetic.
Pairing a classic landscape painting with a modern abstract piece can create an interesting juxtaposition that adds depth and character to your room. This eclectic approach can showcase the diverse range of your tastes.
3. Beyond The Surface: Condition And Care
An acrylic painting on high-quality, acid-free canvas paintings tends to have excellent durability and resistance to colour fading compared to watercolour on paper, which may require more careful preservation efforts to maintain its original hues.
If you are contemplating an acrylic painting such as Abstract Modern Art 100% Hand Painted Wall Painting (With Outer Floater Frame), remember that although it is less prone to cracking than oil paint, it can still gather dust and dirt. Opting for a painting with a protective varnish can make cleaning easier.
Trending Now: Avant-Garde Wall Painting Inspirations
In the dynamic world of interior design, canvas paintings ideas are capturing imaginations, pushing the boundaries of traditional aesthetics. These innovative trends blend bold colours, abstract forms, and unconventional techniques, creating mesmerizing spaces that stand at the forefront of artistic expression. Dive into this creative revolution and transform your walls into canvases of painting modern art.
1. Interesting Surfaces: Creating Texture Through Paint
This trend transcends the visual to invite physical interaction, adding a novel layer of engagement to room aesthetics. A prime example of this tactile artistry can be found in the Jumping Stallion 100% Hand Painted Wall Painting by Dekor Company. This exquisite piece exemplifies how textured paintwork can bring dynamic movement and vitality into any space, transforming walls into a canvas of sensory exploration. Through such innovative designs, touchable surfaces in home decor redefine the relationship between art and viewer, offering an immersive experience that's both seen and felt.
2. Gleaming Elegance: Metallic Finishes
Metallic finishes from home decor websites like Dekor Company are sweeping the trend charts in home decor, offering a dazzling way to imbue spaces with sophistication and a touch of modern glamour. These finishes capture light and add depth, making walls not just a backdrop but a statement. A quintessential example of this trend is the Valencia Dreamlike Framed Crystal Glass Painting - Set of 3 from Dekor Company. This exquisite set embodies the luxurious appeal of metallic finishes, with its elegant design and sparkling crystal glass that reflect light, bringing rooms to life with an air of enchantment and high-end sophistication.
3. Gradual Grace: Ombre Walls
Ombre walls embody a modern yet timeless interior trend, seamlessly blending two or more shades to create a captivating visual effect that mimics a soft, natural gradient. Originating from the French word meaning shaded, this technique offers a sophisticated transition from one colour to another, achieving an ethereal ambience. Ombre walls are perfect canvas paintings for adding depth and interest to any space, whether it is a subtle sunrise palette for a serene bedroom or a vibrant sunset scheme for an energizing living area.
4. Deep Impressions: Moody And Dark Hues
The deep impressions trend champions the allure of moody and dark hues in wall paintings, creating a profound aesthetic impact within any room. This design philosophy seeks to envelop spaces in mystery and depth, elevating the ambience through emotionally resonant colour schemes. A perfect embodiment of this trend is the Woodland Artistry Handpainted Wall Art (With Outer Floater Frame) from Dekor Company. This piece artfully combines dark, immersive tones with subtle strokes, encapsulating the essence of nature’s enigmatic beauty while providing a sophisticated touch to modern interiors. This painting modern art serves not just as decoration but as an evocative statement piece, proving the timeless appeal of dark hues in contemporary design.
5. Subtle Revolution: Neutrals With A Twist
Neutrals with a twist, breathe fresh life into interiors through an innovative approach. While maintaining the timeless appeal of neutral palettes, this trend introduces surprising elements that elevate spaces. Think muted tones accentuated by bold textures or unexpected splashes of vibrant colours. This nuanced painting modern art style ensures a balance between classic understatement and modern flair, creating inviting, dynamic environments without overwhelming the senses.
Wall painting, as a dynamic and immersive art form, effectively challenges traditional norms, fostering a dialogue between public spaces and personal interpretations. It inspires new perspectives by making art accessible and engaging, ultimately questioning the rigid boundaries of art galleries. How do you think wall painting reshapes our perception of art?

Home Decor in 2024. What’s Hot & What’s Not?
Tumblr media
Pink’s out. Peach is in.
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2024 is soft and subtle “Peach Fuzz,” replacing last year’s vibrant “Viva Magenta.” Pantone is recognized globally as a leading source of color expertise.
“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute™.
If you’re looking to revamp your space, consider PANTONE 13-1023 and its complementary colors: everything from creamy, brown and tan neutrals to shades of teal, lavender and mint green. Note: gray is not listed. For those who went wild with gray or greige tones during that trend, you might want to roll up your sleeves and buy a new paint roller.
What’s out?
Say goodbye to Barbiecore (think pink). What else is losing favor? Here’s a quick rundown of trends that seem to be going by the wayside in home decor:
Sliding barn doors (Let’s face it – they don’t even do a great job of blocking light, smells, and sounds.)
White-on-white kitchens
Extremes – whether that means bare minimalism or over-the-top Grand Millennial
Heavy industrial style
What’s in?
Back kitchens
AKA butler’s pantry or scullery, this separate space keeps secondary or backup items hidden from site, tidying up the more public area. Here you can house additional refrigeration and freezing, warming drawers, wine storage, lesser-used mechanical devices, formal entertaining dishes and cutlery, etc. Appliance garages have been around for a while, but they seem to be gaining popularity as another way to streamline kitchens.
Bespoke bedrooms and bathrooms
Behind the scenes, highly personalized spaces offer homeowners comfort and creative freedom. Feel free to layer these rooms with your favorite monogrammed fabrics, artwork, family photos, and heirlooms. Make it meaningful.
Casual luxury
It may sound like an oxymoron, but  luxury doesn’t have to mean formal. Rather than opulent and imposing, choose comfortable, lived-in furniture that is still beautiful and lavish.
Bold wall treatments
Add depth and personality to walls by treating them as large canvases. Incorporate wallpaper, paneling, 3D wall coverings, stone or wood features, decorative molding. This is a take on dopamine decor – which continues to be popular – creative touches that make you feel good when you walk into a room.
Separated spaces
Demolishing interior walls to create all-in-one living/working/playing areas is seeing a bit of a reversal. Delineating spaces by incorporating walls that still have good flow through the use of doorways and openings allows for rooms with purpose and intention.
Mixed metals
This may come as a relief. Chrome, brass, black, copper, bronze – all can be used when harmoniously paired. Trying to keep up with what’s in shouldn’t mean having to change out plumbing fixtures annually!
Mixed materials
Kitchen countertops don’t have to be one solid matchy-matchy mass. Add interest and dimension to this horizontal space. Consider a mix of materials for visual, tactile and utilitarian variety – natural wood with granite, or quartz with sleek stainless steel.
Outdoors in
Windows seem to be taking center stage – becoming bigger and bigger. The view outside is more of a focal point than an after-thought. Biophilic design is also a way to get the feeling of nature inside your dwelling by adding large indoor plants and natural wood and stone finishes.
Mud-laundry rooms
Combining a laundry with a mudroom is a space-efficient idea. Storage components can serve double-duty: hooks, cabinets, cubbies and drawers.
Sustainability
Cheap, mass-produced furniture is becoming increasingly unpopular. People are gravitating toward quality pieces that are higher end and/or repurposed for a lesser environmental footprint.
A word of caution
Before you revamp your space with all the latest trends, carefully consider which ones truly work for you. If you’re thinking about selling your home soon, reach out to me and let's talk about what changes will give you the biggest bang for your buck.

How To Bring Personality To Your Home With Interior Design
Tumblr media
You've probably heard the phrase "home is where the heart is," but what if your heart is missing? A lot of us end up living in houses that aren't really who we are — they're just practical. It's time to bring personality back! With a few simple changes to an interior, you can give your home its own unique flair and make it feel like your very own with the help of Interior Design Companies in Sydney. Here are some easy ways to get started:
Update Your Wall Color
Now that you have a better idea of what kind of personality you want to project in your home, it's time to update the walls. Paint is one of the easiest ways to make an impact on the look and feel of any room in your house. Keep these things in mind:
Choose a neutral color for the walls--a warm gray or beige will complement most furniture styles and reflect light well, making it an ideal choice for spaces where there isn't much natural light. If you have more than one person living with you (or even if you're just looking for extra privacy), consider painting an accent wall with a bolder hue like red or purple--these colors can add warmth without drawing too much attention away from other aspects of decorating like artwork or rugs! Just remember that this kind of bold statement piece may require some maintenance down the line...and don't forget about upkeep costs when budgeting!
Consider how easy maintenance would be after purchasing new furniture pieces; while many types will require professional care (like leather upholstery), others won't need any special treatment beyond dusting off every so often (wooden frames). This is especially important if caring for kids around these items becomes necessary later on down life's journey - especially since many parents aren't able to find babysitters willing enough.
Invest In Statement-Making Art
If you're a fan of art, but not ready to invest in a painting or sculpture just yet, consider other ways you can bring personality to your home with interior design. For example, if you want to make a statement about your love for architecture and design (and who doesn't?), consider hanging up some architectural blueprints in the living room. Or if you want everyone who walks through your front door to know how much travel means to you--from faraway places and even closer ones like the beach down the street--hang up photos from all over the world that reflect your interests and experiences.
Refresh Your Furniture
If your furniture is starting to look a little worn, don't despair. It's easy to update your home with new pieces that will bring personality and life back into the space.
When choosing new furniture, keep in mind that neutral colors tend to be more versatile than bold ones. If you want an accent color or pattern on your walls or pillows, try using it sparingly so as not to overwhelm your room.
Mixing styles can also help make a room feel more interesting--just make sure they go together! For example: if you have a modern couch but want something more traditional for the coffee table in front of it (like an oval glass top), consider adding some fun geometric patterned pillows instead of going all-out with another piece of furniture that could clash with everything else in the room.
Conclusion
Whether you're a seasoned interior designers Sydney or just getting started, these tips will help you bring personality to your home. From updating your wall color to refreshing your furniture, there are so many ways to add unique style and charm!

16 OF THE MOST ENTHRALLING WALL PATTERNS AND DESIGNS
From early ages, humans have sought to decorate their spaces with mark makings which include inscriptions, and pictures to tell their stories. Whether these early cave paintings or the traditional wall art signifies the notion of belonging and ownership. Though the decoration and wall art was not exactly a priority for them. However, by the 17th and 18th centuries, decoration became a status symbol which generally meant showing off that you have enough wealth to decorate your walls with patterns.

If you have Small Kitchen Interior Design Ideas or bathroom design ideas then tiled walls are the finest choice you can make. Tiles are usually for bathrooms and kitchens but can be incorporated into any room. They are usually thin sometimes thick, rectangular coverings manufactured with a hard material such as metals, stones, baked clay, glass, etc.
They are generally fixed to cover roofs, walls, floors, edges, etc. They often come in bulk to cover the walls and the floors. They are so creative and innovative in themselves only, they are also available in many shapes, sizes, and textures which gives the area complete look both interior and exterior area.

Nowadays, you can find murals on the exterior of every building such as temples, tombs, palaces, churches, libraries, etc.

They can be very appealing and can provide soothing aesthetics and can incorporate unconventional patterns into your space.
Stone Walls
Stone walls are natural stones, especially used in vertical coverings. They are easy to care for and maintain their beauty against time and also contribute to the healthiness and safety of living space. They are made up of local materials like limestone, granite, flint, sandstone, etc. The quality of the stone wall greatly matters both in endurance to weathering and resistance to water.

Nowadays, color blocking has become one of the favorites of most designers, as it can enhance the look of your home. It refers to the use of contrasting colors and shades to bring in a fresh look that helps the interior design create an unexpected twist in the way the space is designed. This trend is originally from the artwork of the dutch painter, Piet Mondrian.
The character of your room will totally depend on the color palette you choose. For a cool vibe, you can go for brighter colors, and if you want more of a sophisticated vibe, go for subtle and darker colors. Just choose the color palette that suits your taste and preferences.
So this was the list of some of the finest wall art and ideas from which you can choose the one that perfectly blends in with your taste and preference. Barnett Newman, Yves Klein, and Mark Rothko are also able to evoke an emotion in you with almost nothing. Two maybe three pigments. Their works are technically impressive, I wholeheartedly agree! But technically impressive ultramarine pigments that are nearly impossible to reproduce aside, I reject the idea that modern art doesn’t produce an emotional response.
For Klein specifically, at least in me, that feeling is shock.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Digital images do not capture how blue Klein’s blue really is. It’s electric, almost scary how deep and bright it is. It almost feels unnatural. Her full body ‘portraits’(?) feel like intense echoes of herself, or maybe other people? plastered against the wall like the shadows of people standing next to a nuclear bomb. That first image, Fire, despite people saying “oh a two year old could paint that”, makes me feel like I’m standing next to a raging blue inferno.
Barrett Newman, another modern artist whose works have been considered so controversial that some have been destroyed by angry vandals, has a very unique style that almost feels reflective of modern interior design. It reminds me of the monotony of day to day life. A wall at a children’s daycare. A doctor’s office trying to be slick and modern. The red and blue stripes on a soccer jersey. I don’t say this to mean his works are boring, rather he has sung the praises of these simple abstractions in his works by lifting them to the very face of god, a scale unseen by man. His paintings are often massive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And again, his works have been vandalized they evoked such an emotional response. In 1986 a man walked into the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and took a box cutter to Newman’s painting, Who’s Afraid of Red Yellow and Blue III, carving out some fifty feet of canvas as he did so. What’s more people and critcs alike more or less praised the vandal with people saying the painting had made them physically sick.
What’s worse, the restoration process was an abysmally poor attempt to recreate Newman’s pigments, as the restoration artist had use house paints and a paint roller, whereas Newman’s paints were a complex mixture of egg whites and other additives that the restoration artist just couldn’t capture. People have said about the restoration that Who’s Afraid Of Red Yellow and Blue III was effectively killed twice. So more to the point, yes, sorry ‘I could paint that’s lady, we know you couldn’t.
Finally, there’s Mark Rothko. I don’t think I need to explain much about how his body of works have been regarded. Not just by critics, but also by just anyone who’s seen them. You walk into a random room in a gallery and there’s this. Colossus secured to the wall. This ogre of emotion, silent and still.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rothko created dozens of paintings, many of them huge and intimidating like this. Anecdotally I’ve heard accounts of people who’ve had to leave Rothko exhibits in tears they were so moved by the thing in front of them. There’s something so uniquely emotive about Rothko’s works at an atomic level. Like they’re just an aural knot of emotion. Nowhere is this more potent than the Rothko Chapel in Houston.
Tumblr media
I’ve actually been here and the experience is harrowing. As an adult, I’ve never really been moved to repent in some vague agnostic sense, but here I actually bowed my head. My boyfriend actually had to leave because he was terrified of what he felt in there. There’s something so deep and terrifying about Rothko’s works. And before he killed himself, that’s more or less what he said he wanted to express. Terror. Sadness. Tragedy. Doom.
Yes, abstract art is technically impressive, I wholeheartedly agree. But to say that it doesn’t or was not meant to evoke an emotional reaction? I cannot agree, my actual lived experience has proved time and again that’s patently untrue.
Before I go I want to briefly touch on the whole objectivist thing. Because a strong conservative belief system exists that says Abstract art is trash and does nothing to enrich our culture and is objectively valueless. This is part of why Red Yellow and Blue III was vandalized. People have written white power slogans on the monument outside the Rothko chapel, which was dedicated to MLK. And it should surprise no one that the root of this ideal is Nazis! Fascism creates a narrow and specific national mythology that Modern art blatantly defies, so conservatives have to reject it whole cloth to make their mythology the only thing meaningful. They do something similar to art that is queer or non-white. Nazi Germany would actually devite whole wings of Galleries to what they considered “degenerate art.” Jacob Geller has an incredible Youtube video about how disdain towards modern art intersects with fascism. Which I will link here please go watch its really good. It’s also a major source for this post.
TLDR; Modern art is both technically impressive and also very emotionally charged, especially when you’re able to see it in person, so much so in fact that people have vandalized paintings they felt so moved.
Tumblr media
abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao
