Modern Au Headcanons
Modern Au head canons
-Pony is the only one of the gang who vapes because of his crippling nicotine addiction. Curly makes fun of him for it but also steals them for him all the time
-Steve and Soda were those guys who act incredibly homoerotic all through middle school/junior high school because it’s ‘funny’, but are just officially dating and sickeningly sweet together by the time high school graduation rolls around
-Steve is as good at hacking phones as he is jacking cars
-Darry still uses WhatsApp. It’s the only way he messages Soda or Ponyboy when he needs to get ahold of them, and it drives them both up the wall.
-Curly and Ponyboy both listen to Soundcloud rappers unironically. Angela and Darry are both ready to commit homicide.
-Two-bit shoplifts pretty much exclusively from Walmart or other big corporations because fuck capitalism
-Curly and Johnny have one class together (its an elective and usually under enrolled so anyone can sign up) and the teacher made the mistake of seating them together. It took two days of class for Johnny to stab Curly with a pencil, and the teacher nearly fainted at the sight of it sticking out of his arm.
-The Shepards were a nickolodean/YTV household and the Curtis’ were a TVO kids household (and it shows)
-Darry has never seen SpongeBob and is one of those people who brag about it
-Two-bit often tries to ‘bring back vine’
-Curly once annoyed Ponyboy badly enough in class that he told him to ‘go eat a bag of dicks’ a little too loudly and they both got detention
-Soda watches tv on Darry’s Netflix account because he forgets to change it and Darry always gets PISSED because it fucks up his algorithm
-Steve downright refuses to do any tiktok/internet challenge ever and Soda will try pretty much any one he sees
-Pony and Johnny once made a tinder account for Darry as a joke. The still haven’t recovered from the aftermath of Darry finding out

Modern! Shepard Hc's
Curly Shepard:
-Modern Curly Shepard wears literally sweatpants and hoodies and raps Dreams and Nightmares 24/7. He seems annoying from far away but once you get to know him he's pretty funny
-man bun because his hair is long
-He's definitely the one kid who talks too much. Maybe a little too much. He'll be the one saying the weirdest things in class
-he'd probably have a girlfriend he was on and off with because he'd be a dumbass boyfriend.
-keeps nudes in his memory on snapchat
-As a younger kid, Modern! Curly would be suspended and expelled from getting into violent fights and because he was so forgetful, ex. Bringing his pocket knife to school
-Doesn't play a sport because he think he doesn't have time for it and would rather go home, smoke, and nap.
-his phone is definitely cracked. It doesn't matter if there's a screen protector or heavy duty case, he's found a way to crack it
-He's got his headphones in 24/7. That one kid who keeps them in his shirt just hanging out until he can pop them back in (even if he isn't listening to anything wtf)
-Goes to football games on Fridays to hangout with his friends but is also the one who sneaks away when get bored
-Has a habit of thinking people are getting smart with him and he's not good at letting things go which leads to maybe public altercations
-Lowkey a nerd, likes Harry Potter and anime. He's probably doing that if he isn't napping.
-The one kid who would be smart if he actually tried. Manages to scrap his grades and get his life together last minute to get into an "okay" college
Angela Shepard:
-Angela is a jeans kind of person. They go with anything and she always finds the softest pair although they were probably expensive
-Angela gets her nails done a lot. Every two week, she's got pretty long nails so she doesn't get acrylic, instead settles for a gel
-Angela would fall for a guy who was pretty crappy before learning her self worth and that she was a baddie
-In her sophomore year of high school she decided to cut her hair off and now wears in a blunt bob.
-She's pretty popular, she's pretty and her brothers have somewhat of a reputation and she's a cool person to talk to
-She'd be the person to like any type of music. It just has to be written well.
-she's got resting bitch face. So people who don't know her are usually intimidated by her until they get to know her
-she's got a lot of Instagram followers on both her personal and her activist profile
-She's got a huge crush on Jason Mamoa and watches everything he's in for that reason
-She'd go out for cheerleading freshman year but then suffer from a knee injury. However, she's kinda glad she doesn't have to do it anymore.
-Angela has an iPhone. It's probably got a pretty case with a basic background that just seems really clean
-She's really smart so she had been on the honor roll for most of her high school years and gets into the college of her choice
Tim Shepard:
-a pretty chill college student who never gets enough sleep and is always behind on papers. But due to his sly talking, he's able to not fall that far behind
-Tim usually wears jeans and a hoodie from the college he goes to. He usually keeps his hair pretty short but if he's being lazy it grows out
-Tim likes slow and meaningful music and also music like PATD. And Romeo Santos
-he commutes to college and recieved some sort of scholarship to go from the state and he's majoring in marketing? Maybe he isn't sure.
-Tim seems unapproachable and he is unapproachable. He doesn't like talking at all because chances are you're annoying the hell out of him
-Tim owns no form of social media which makes it easier when he hooks up with someone and has no intention of keeping touch (can't slide in the dms if you don't have one amiright?)
-He's got an old phone because he pays no phone bill for it. It's a basic android that calls and texts when he needs it to.
-he commutes because although he won't admit it, he misses his siblings if he hasn't seen them for a while
-goes to the club every Saturday with his friends from college
Family:
-they host so many house parties it's not even funny. They have everything from the liquor to the food, everyone wants to come to a Shepard house party
-They have a movie marathon like every Sunday that starts in the morning. It was completely unintentional but turned into an unspoken tradition
-Sometimes curly gets them to put on Harry Potter, Angela likes it Tim despises it. He likes the Hunger Games more.
-waffle house is their shit
-they save up to go to six flags at the end of the summer which never goes right but the still force themselves to do it anyway
-siblings go to the movies about once a month which ends up with them arguing before the movie starts
-Tim likes mean girls. He watches it every time it's own
-for fun, Tim likes changing the Netflix password and waiting to see how long it takes for Curly and Angela to break the door down.
-Angela likes Christmas movies
-Angela makes her brothers take her photos
"You idiot! You can't even see my face take it again."

modern gothic, sci-fi, and the moral binary: why the matrix is one of the most relevant gothic pieces of the last twenty five years
the gothic is a genre that is designed to explore transgressive behaviours and private desires, and often does so by having these explicit acts committed by a supernatural character. this serves to not only characterise the behaviour as monstrous but ‘Other’ people who behave that way. while this is typical of traditional gothic literature, modern gothic tends to present sympathetic villains, who suggest to audiences that transgressive behaviours are not inherently threatening or deserving of punishment, but simply different. as put by kelley hurley, ‘through depicting the abhuman, the gothic reaffirms and reconstructs human identity.’ in order to understand the progression from traditional gothic to modern genres that stem from it, namely science fiction, psychological thrillers and murder mysteries, we must first understand it’s basic timeline.
gothic literature began as a genre with very little positive reception, originally seen as a frivolous, and unserious style of writing. often called ‘dark romanticism’, the genre used the ‘purple prose’ and decadent architecture of romantic literature, but associated it with more sinister narratives concerning religion, murder and both sexual and identitiy-oriented transgression. originating from horace walpole’s ‘castle of otranto’, the genre was used to reflect the cultural anxieties of the time period, and thus gained traction by being temporally relevant. modern gothic’s deconstruction of the ‘good vs evil’ binary is a reflection of contemporary understandings of the aforementioned topics, which address the complexities of transgression. notable examples of later gothic literature include susan hill’s 1983 novel, ‘the woman in black’, a pastiche of traditional victorian ghost stories that utilises sympathetic villains to add complexity to the idea of villainy. additionally, the work of angela carter, particularly that of her 1979 collection ‘the bloody chamber’ which uses gothic conventions to subvert more conservative fairytales and fables, another instance of this ‘dark romanticism’ technique.
by presenting transgression as complex, rather than fulfilling one side of a binary, modern gothic allows us to consider if transgression is even that dangerous; it serves to dismantle the idea that ‘different = threatening.’ a brilliant example of this is the previously mentioned work of carter, and her short stories ‘the tiger’s bride’ and ‘the courtship of mr lyon.’ these stories are subverted retellings of the traditional ‘beauty and the beast’ fairytale. While maintaining the general events of the original ending, where beauty stays with the beast of her own volition, carter offers up two dynamics between the human and abhuman that serve to recharacterise ‘Othered’ creatures as less threatening and more sympathetic and innocent. ‘the courtship of mr lyon’ mimics the original story’s ending, with beauty’s understanding of the beast resulting in his transformation back to human. ‘the tiger’s bride’ offers the reverse: in beauty’s acceptance of the beast, she transforms to be animal-like like him as well. this appears almost as an act of solidarity. perhaps an incredibly modern reading of carter’s metamorphosed characters is as an allegory for transgenderism. discussions around gender identity during the 1970s in britain, even in second-wave feminist circles, were more concerned with rejecting and redefining traditional gender roles than they were with the personal identity of individuals, so we can assume this was not carter’s intention when writing these stories. however, ideas of physical transformation, and how proximity to the ‘Other’ can ‘radicalise’ one’s own identity are very fitting with treatment of transgender people both historically and presently. genres that stem from the late gothic, namely sci-fi, have been known for using metamorphosis as an allegory for marginalised identities, using physical transformation as an allegory for ideological or emotional transformation. a prime example of this is lana and lilly wachowski’s series ‘the matrix.’ written as a trans allegory, the movie series criticises the social pressure for conformity the way carter does and attempts to explicitly recharacterise trans people as an innocent non-conforming identity rather than a threat. carter’s exploration and reproval of established values similarly tends to centre around ideas of gender, making this reading not entirely unreasonable. she suggests that societal fears surrounding gender identity and liberation are unfounded.
ultimately, carter paints various traits and identities that are widely considered ‘threatening’ to be multifaceted and liberating instead, as she views the established values that they ‘threaten’ to be restrictive and in need of changing. the matrix represents these established values with ‘agents’ who attempt to hide the true nature of the world from the population. in the preface to the bloody chamber collection, helen simpson writes that 'human nature is not immutable, human beings are capable of change', arguing this point as the core of carter’s gothic subversions. she suggests through her writing that what is perceived as a social threat is often based upon what is uncomfortable rather than what is actually dangerous. her work is partially ambivalent in that it does not instruct what is right or wrong, but instead depicts societal relationships and allows the audience to interpret it.
the matrix achieves a similar result, with gothic elements and subversions supporting it’s messages.sci-fi takes gothic settings, ideas of liminality, decay, transgression and the Other, and recontextualises them with in the hypothetical far future. traditional gothic settings such as the ruins of decadent mansions become abandoned high-tech buildings. the binary between conventional and transgressive shifts from being a contrast between catholic ideals and more modern behaviours to being a contrast between those profiting off capitalism and those suffering from it.
implicit in the matrix’s notion of discovering a newer world more true to reality is the idea that ‘different’ or ‘unconventional’ experiences and identities are not threatening, but liberating. the matrix suggests we can unlearn our villainisation of trans people, and does so through the use of various gothic conventions. to begin with, gothic texts are often written to reflect the cultural anxieties of the moment. lilly wachowski has stated that the movie was ‘born out of anger at capitalism and the corporate structure and forms of oppression.’ the late nineties in america was certainly a time of tension for lgbt people. frank rich sites ‘the homophobic epidemic of '98...spiked with the october murder of matthew shepard’ as an era of extreme difficulty for the lgbt community in the usa. this hostile environment is reflected in the nature of the matrix’s ‘agents’ and their insistence on maintaining the illusion of free will that comes with the false reality they push. they are in no way open to ideas that differ from their own and actively come down on those who suggest them. this anxiety for the lgbt community is reflected in the movie; the anxiety itself is expressed through a combination of subverted and traditional gothic tropes. gender itself is a topic highly relevant to the gothic. the wachowskis utilise binary oppositions, the most obvious example being the red pill vs blue pill’ scenario. the movie poses a stark contrast between two approaches to life: ‘the willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth, by taking the red pill, or remaining in contented ignorance with the blue pill.’ its interesting for a piece that is intentioned to deconstruct binaries to construct this binary, but it does serve a purpose. this binary serves as a device to show, allegorically, the experience of trans people in western cultures. belinda mcclory’s character, switch, is a specific representation of the gender transition process. in the matrix she appears as a woman, and in the real world as a man. while the wachowskis may not have had the creative freedom to include an explicitly transgender character, this was the closest and most specific hint they could have given the audience, right down to the character’s cratylic naming. switch’s experience presenting as both man and woman, and only one of her presentations occurs in the ‘true reality’ that is representative of people’s true natures and personalities. this use of metamorphosis mimics the way many trans people must present as their assigned gender at birth in public, and their true identity in private, that their physical body and their perception of themselves when they have control of their appearance are not necessarily aligned. this parallel relies upon the binary consisting of a false reality and a true one to illustrate its point.
it has also been suggested that the red pill is representative of a hormone pill, and many viewers have likened neo’s mental restlessness to gender dysphoria: ‘what you know you can't explain, but you feel it. you've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. you don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.’ these small parallels coalesce to form the movie’s representation of the trans experience in a way that is arguaby subtle to the cisgender viewer. neo openly rejects being called ‘mr anderson’ or ‘thomas anderson’ from our first introduction to him. he replaces his given male-coded name with something seemingly androgenous for his own comfort, and ‘mr anderson’ almost serves as a deadname, which only the agents who enforce a false reality use to refer to him. agent smith uses neo’s two names to frame his two separate lives very distinctly; ‘one of these lives has a future, and one of them does not.’ with an understanding of the trans subtext of the movie, this appears as a thinly veiled reference to the difficulties openly trans people face. coming out, in most places in the world, can result in loss of employment, loss of contact with family, and so on. as put by lili wachowski, ‘transgender people without support, means and privilege do not have this luxury. and many do not survive.’ agent smith appears to be warning neo of the dangerous of living as his true self, insistently referring to him with his given name rather than his chosen one, even if just for bureaucratic reasons. neo’s name is a vital to his defiance against both agent smith and the false reality he seeks to maintain:
agent smith:
you hear that mr. anderson?... that is the sound of inevitability... it is the sound of your death... goodbye, mr. anderson...
neo:
my name... is neo.
in defiantly maintaining his chosen name, neo pushes for the true reality to be accepted and understood. this is motivated by the fact that ‘i don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life.’ this is an instance of neo taking control, by asserting his identity. the high stakes of this scene mimic the high stakes that trans people face in asserting their identities in an unaccepting social climate. the movie also acknowledges the public perception of trans people as a threat: ‘i know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. you're afraid of change...the matrix is a system, neo, that system is our enemy.’ appearance vs reality is yet another key aspect of the gothic that is utilised in the matrix, and the narrative forces the viewer to consider whether they would accept a harsh reality or prefer total ignorance and accept what appears in front of them.
the movie’s treatment of violence against its protagonist is particularly relevant to the gothic. typically, queer-coded men or people of colour in fiction experience physical violence allegorical to the way female characters are written into sexualised danger: for trauma-based character development. violence against minorities in media, specifically gothic media, is often symbolic rather than just plain horrific. female, queer or bodies of colour are seen solely as political identities, so the violence they face is violence against an idea, not a person. queer or queer-coded men like neo are often feminised to a certain extent, even if its simply rejecting the title ‘mr’, to allow the violence against them to be symbolic or political rather than personal. often with cisgender, heterosexual, white or male characters, any cruelty they face is considered to be senseless and is characterised as brutal, pure violence, as their bodies are simply allowed to exist as bodies without a political statement attached to their existence. they are not making a statement or defying standards simply by having bodies. the gothic specifically uses symbolic violence in its later stages, and it is often faced by characters who are ‘Othered’ such as frankenstein’s monster being faced with angry hordes of people, or the suicide of jennet humfrye, the titular character of the woman in black who had a child out of wedlock. this symbolic violence in the matrix is particularly relevant to the above scene between agent smith and neo, where neo’s retaliation involves not just physical fighting but defiance over his own identity.
setting in the matrix is quintessentially modern gothic, and is an integral part of characterising the differences between appearance and reality. the real world and the matrix are characterised both by their physical appearance and the characters associated with them. the whole movie is shot with relatively bleak green, grey and blue tones; the unnamed cities in the matrix were filmed in sydney, australia, but are supposed to appear as a city that could be located anywhere. this makes viewers somewhat comforted as the cities appear familiar, but their association with the antagonistic agents makes it difficult to truly identify with them. in contrast, the real world appears cold, crude and difficult to survive in, but is home to a crew of sympathetic rebels that the audience is supposed to root for. the city of zion is all harsh metal and can feel like a very temporary, unsafe residence but scenes such as the party in matrix reloaded characterise it as a place of community. the duality of each setting is typical of the gothic, and allows the viewer to explore the complexity of the movie’s conundrum. no option is the easy, immediate or obvious choice. the viewer must consult their own morals and values. ideas and anxieties surrounding moral decay are vital to the narrative of gothic tales; the genre explores and seeks to define humanity, and doing so often involves ethnocentric set of morals associated with good and bad. concepts like metamorphosis, identity, and the rejection of religion or christian/western ideals all play into this, but this is where modern gothic’s acknowledgement of complexity reframes things. most developments described as ‘modern gothic’ apply to sci-fi as it is an extension of, or evolved from,1960s-1990s gothic.
in presenting the aforementioned topics as multifaceted, the genre is able to imply or sometimes directly suggest that the ways in which presentations of them differ from established values is not immediately threatening, but simply different or even sympathetic. the matrix almost reverses traditional expressions of transgression by suggesting that those seeking to maintain the status quo are enforcing restrictive and immoral ideals, and that those whose agendas differ from the status quo are seeking liberation. this appears very similarly in angela carter’s previously mentioned work, exemplifying the parallels between sci-fi and the gothic. ‘the matrix stuff was all about the desire for transformation but it was all coming from a closeted point of view.’ lilly wachowski states. transformation and metamorphosis are topics so in line with the content of the gothic, allowing authors to explore and compare different states of being in order to eventually, sometimes implicitly, condemn one and promote the other. in reference to how she was drawn to use sci-fi as the medium for this story, she says that ‘we were existing in a space where the words didn't exist, so we were always living in a world of imagination.’ things that cannot work in our social climate can be allowed to work in an imagined scenario, with imagined consequences separate from the real world, similarly to the gothic’s use of the supernatural as a vehicle for taboo actions and values.
the wachowskis select science fiction tropes that are core to the gothic as a medium for the matrix’s allegorical meaning: taboo subjects, metamorphosis, binary oppositions, moral questions and stark settings. the matrix arguably serves as a bridge between the two genres, while also being unmistakably modern in its support of trans people and its open criticism of capitalism and social systems. this is not to say that earlier texts do not argue similarly points, but that the popularity of the matrix means that these points and messages are widespread and consumed by a massive audience. the movie was released in early june of 1999, and by august 2000, the matrix dvd had sold over three million copies in usa, making it the best-selling of all time. its unlikely that those three million dvd owners had all interpreted the movie the way the wachowskis had intended, as is the case with all media, but their anti-capitalist and pro-lgbt rhetoric was still present in the movie and has become glaringly obvious to more viewers over 20 years beyond its release date. using binaries as a tool to deconstruct other binaries is a device used more and more within sci-fi and the exploration of morals, systemic structures and the role of lgbt people are both vital to both genres. trans people are originally characterised as ‘Other’, but are rightfully humanised and encouraged to pursue their true identities: ‘to deny our impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human.’

2, 6, 21 👀😁
2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project.
Two, actually: one for The Outsiders, the other for Mafia III. I’ll give a short synopsis of both!
Unnamed universe: Basically it’s what New Year was teasing about. It mostly focuses on Tim Shepard leaving and raising his two sons, as well as Ponyboy being Pony. But there’s other parts, like Soda’s addiction issues, Angela’s marriage, Curly’s death, etc. etc.
American Idiot!: It’s just a post-9/11 AU that explores the cultural similarities between the Vietnam War/Cold War and “war on terror” of the early 2000s up until the summer of 2021. Maybe I should stop writing history and war stories, but damn you, it’s fun. Also Lincoln is more out about his queerness than in canon. Otherwise it’s just a more in-depth and “”modern”” AU.
6. What character do you have the most fun writing?
In The Outsiders:
Ponyboy, because he’s easy for me and I like his inner monologue and sarcasm.
Curly, because he’s stupid as hell and I love him. Too bad I killed him off :)
Tim, because he’s Tim. No real reason, I just like him.
In Mafia trilogy:
John, because he’s a lot like me (not a good thing), his deep empathy, and he’s funny.
Lincoln, because I like his sarcasm and his deep-set sympathy.
Vito because he’s Vito. Dumbass that I love
21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)
Actually, y’all tell me your thoughts, because I don’t know. Maybe TV show, or movie series?

modern day curtis and shepard gang headcannons? Like they're old men and women
Hi anon! Sorry this took so long I'm a certified human disaster and my life is kind of in shambles rn
ANYWAY modern day old outsiders headcanons:
-First of all I did some quickmaths, so Darry would be 79 in 2024, Two-bit and Tim Shepard would be 78, Steve would be 76, Soda would be 75, and Curly & Angela Shepard would be 74, and Ponyboy would be 73
-Realistically atp Two would have died of like liver failure but I'm gonna try not to make this a bummer so lets say my man is in a nursing home and spends all day flirting with the nurses and the ladies in the home (who all adore him)
-Lbr Darry would absolutely be the grumpiest of old men (him and Two are in the same home) but he also tells the best stories and is secretly a big softie so all the young, nervous nurses like him the best
-Tim Shepard would rather be dead than in a nursing home and he says as much to anyone who ever suggests he needs one. Angela keeps trying, because he's barely mobile (old injuries + arthritis) but he refuses. Angela knows it's because Sylvia is burried in the graveyard down the block from there, and Tim doesn't want to leave his best friend, even though she's been dead for years he still can't leave her
-Angela lives alone. Having grown up in a turbulent house and worked almost every day of her adult life she enjoys her solitude. Nowadays she takes her fighting spirit to Monday night bingo where she CAN and WILL still strangle you Betty Anne if you try callin' bingo again when we both knows you aint got it-
-Steve and Sodapop live together at the old Curtis house. The neighbours kids have it rough so they come around a lot. Soda bakes cakes when he's got the energy, and Steve has mellowed a bit in his old age and spoils the kids rotten even when lecturing them and basically they act like grandfathers to these two little delinquent kids, who in turn do chores around the house so Soda and Steve can KEEP living there and don't have to go into a home or something
-Curly Shepard and Ponyboy Curtis live together, in a little apartment (Pony moved back to Tulsa when he retired, and Curly followed him like he always does. It's a little inside joke of theirs, since ever since they got together they've never been apart for more than a few days). Neither of them will admit it, but Curly's mind isn't what is used to be, the result of all those head injuries when he was younger finally catching up to him, and it kills Ponyboy a little to see the confusion in his eyes and the way he gets agitated when he can't remember something.
-The Curtis brothers all do that thing where they're always on the phone with one another
-Tim, Angela, and Curly all go out for breakfast together on Saturdays
-Tim has a walking stick and uses it to whack people with
-Two-bit manages to talk one of the nurses into smuggling him extra pudding cups with his dinner and the other residents (including Darry) get real up in arms about it
-Steve and Soda have tv shows that are on at a certain time each week that they steadfastly refuse to miss even though the neighbour kids have tried convincing them to get a netflix account and showeed them how to use the DVR so they could record them
-Steve complains about modern cars and their 'new fangled technology with their screens and electric engines' not being as good as the cars from when he was young
-Darry and Ponyboy compete to see who can get the wordle in the fewest guesses and they both sulk if they lose

hihi its like 3 am here but i have some hcs about the loves of my life - darry anon
tim and darry have been friends since they were kids along w/ twobit!! when darry befriended the socs in highschool they sorta fell apart until dar graduated. two and tim went their seperate ways too, since darry’s childhood kindness was the glue that kept them together. they try not to talk about it too much, but once in a blue moon they’ll make jokes about it to each other.
angela loves the colour red. she doesn’t know why!! everyone always asks her and she never really has an answer. all her favourite dresses and skirts are red!! her lipstick is all bright red!!!
they’re a family of guitarists! tim was the first to play and eventually he taught curly a little bit, but only because they wouldn’t stop begging for it. curly lost a bet to angela so they had to teach her, too. sometimes the shepards’ll have really professional-sounding conversations about guitars. bonus: tim’s has a little drawing of a cat on it that two drew when the three hung out together one time. tim swears it was like that when he got it. when two and tim start hanging out again, the guitar gradually gets a few more little cats here and there.
curly loves fish. like they love watching fish. they will go to all the fishing lakes they can find and just sit on the dock and Stare at the water until they see even a flash of something. angela came with them once. she pushed them into the water.
tim is surprisingly good with animals for a hood. there’s quite a few stray cats around his turf and he feeds them everyday and takes really good care of them. nobody knows this, not even darry or his siblings...which is why curly found it really weird when they were looking for food at 3 am and found a cupboard of stolen cat food. tim told them that a guy in his gang ate it.
angela can speak amazingly good french. where did she learn? nobody knows ! what matters is it’s perfect and she pulls it off really well.
sometimes curly calls angela their older sister. it’s a complete accident at first, but it sticks and honestly fits pretty well. in reality, they’re twins with angela being a few minutes later than curly, but she’s way more mature than them, so it works.
modern!tim had a massive hot topic phase and has like 1000000000 mcr and fob shirts in his closet. whenever curly does something good, like they help with the chores or win in a fight, tim’ll let them have one. angela thinks it’s the weirdest exchange she’s ever seen, but if it’ll get curly off their ass, she doesn’t mind.
ok gender identity and sexuality hcs time babey!!!! tim is a gay trans guy and he uses he/him pronouns no im not projecting wdym, curly (if u haven’t figured out by now) is agender and uses they/them pronouns, and angela is a trans girl who uses she/her pronouns!!! family of transgeners babey!!!!!!!!
they’d fight god for each other even if they don’t say it a lot. it’s usually in little gestures, like teaching each other things or getting them presents whenever they can gather up the confidence to nick something or the money to buy it.
overall they care about each other a lot and their relationship is really sweet, even if they’re not too open about it ! hapy shepard day goodnight !
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THESE HEADCANONS!!!!! I'M SORRY FOR NOT ANSWERING THEM YESTERDAY I WAS BUSY BUT I LOVE THIS SM!!!
I LITERALLY AGREE WITH EVERYTHING! THE SHEPARDS ARE SUCH A CAT FAMILY THIS IS ALL CANON FR FR I LOVE THIS
I'll answer your other ask took because I think you added some more stuff that was just as cool!!!

this post is about the shepards having autism/being on the spectrum, strap in,,,
btw to b clear, they all got some other stuff goin on w em mentally, but im focusing on them bein autistic rn, im a bit rusty when it comes to talking about them w autism bc i havent talked about it in so long, I HOPE THIS ALL MADE SENSE
tim- the same way ppl see darry as being autistic is how i feel w tim, its not much of a difference honestly, so ion have much to say. he comes off as cold but he’s rlly not, he’s blunt and that makes him come off as rude to a ton of ppl and so therefore unapproachable, generally prefers to be alone minus like a few ppl (those ppl being angela and curly, and hes kinda had to grow to get used to pony being around a bit). he kinda has a monotone voice. he does have a same routine generally speaking and HATES when it gets fucked up somehow, he gets pretty agitated. his special interest is maybe like, space or somethin like that, but he seems pretty casual about it so ppl dont exactly understand that its literally a special interest, if that makes sense. he can notice patterns n small things other ppl wouldnt. i could see him having synesthesia and pain insensitivity, thats part of the reason y ppl think hes so tough in fights, they think hes just so used to fights he cant rlly get hurt like others can but no, he genuinely just doesnt react to pain stimuli that much
curly- hes the one out of all three of em where i actually have him more fleshed out😭
he does stim, however its things that r deemed as more “normal” to do in front of others like bouncing his leg, tapping something, etc etc, but i will tell u a good chink of his stiff is chewed bc he just “felt like biting something”. he doesnt know the volume of his own voice and that gets him into a bit of trouble, sometimes hes rude genuinely without even meaning to and he things thats just bc hes a shepard, he has his moments where he takes shit literally or just doesnt get social rules. honestly i could see him being either a lil too clingy physically or him hating being touched by others, maybe hes a mix of both. he also has pain insensitivity and like i said, ppl think its bc hes gotten into so many fights, he just doesnt feel that pain no more, but nope, genuinely registers pain differently BUT if u want him to be hypersensitive to touch, i will tell u that he is tender headed so tim always has trouble braiding his hair especially when he was younger. this is like more modern day ish hc of him but ik he would be repeating words/phrases over and over (its called echolalia i think). doesnt rlly make eye contact a while bunch, its not bc hes nervous or it makes him uncomfortable tho its just like, a thing he does idk how to explain it. hes autistic but if u literally just got this nigga someone to get a look at him it becomes pretty obvious hes autistic, hes literally not even masking, if u had someone u hc to be autistic and they looked at him on his day to day life theyre def goin “hmm,,,”. hes def gotten into a fight bc he was overstimulated lmao
his special interest can b bugs or horror movie or something along those lines
angela- my girl angela,,,,shes the one masking thee HARDEST i just know it, ppl would deny shes autistic the most bc they dont understand autism in women, they would just say “shes just being a normal girl”, and i cant explain it bc we would b here for a while, but i will tell u she would show an obvious sign of being autistic and it gets written off bc ppl just see that as her being girly. ANYWAYS, shes hypersensitive (which means shes a bit tender headed, save my black girl), she gets annoyed by minor changes, has trouble making friends and this is for a multitude of reasons but her being autistic is one of em, has less obvious stims, she mostly plays w her hair, her special interest is more “socially accepted for a girl” and so ppl dont even see that as being her special interest which leads to her being undiagnosed, lowkey imitates other ppls hand gestures, and i have other ideas for her but i need to wrap this up this is becoming an essay😭😭
ANYWAYS they r undiagnosed bc they 1) dont have the resources to get tested lmao 2) they r black and black ppl tend to get misdiagnosed w something else bc they r so underrepresented  and 3) they r immigrants and immigrant parents dont rlly believe in having mental issues lmfao 4) they arent the “textbook outlook” of autism
