my funniest hk opinion is that the white palace we visit is exactly as it was in the waking world. the saws were there.
#me talking#hk spoilers#for tag rambling mostly#the non euclidean layout is just because we are traversing a 3d space in a 2d way dont worry about it#but for real though. ive mentioned this before but the buzzsaws are actually a brilliant design choice#the king is already heavily associated with engineering and the like. they have trams! elevators! ACTUAL ROBOTS in crystal peak!#a complicated sewer system! and the cross between magic and engineering is also fascinating. kingsmoulds.. wingsmoulds...#the buzzsaws too contribute to characterising who he was. he shed his godly wyrm form to invent radio systems#of course he would have the fruits of his creative labor around the palace. hes a god who dreamed of inventing the modern computer#the only thing that stopped him was dying. he wouldve built airplanes if left to his own devices#and he would board bugs on it and watch. but never use one himself. he wouldve sent bugs to space if he could#back to the buzzsaws. in my personal opinion they are so abundant because they were installed around the infection era#the infected DID try to kill him dead. points at xero.#but my most indulgent thought is that at least the spikes/spears were there before. for normal intruders and would be assassins

Everyone talks about the tragedy of animated media getting reboots that replace their excellent art direction with uncanny realism —like the Lion King and its “live action” reboot—- but there’s one series that embodies that tragedy better than anything else. And I need to share it with you all because I can’t be the only one Haunted by it day and night. Please let me tell you the Sad, sad story behind this image:

There was an early 2000s video game trilogy called Sly Cooper, whose main appeal was its super unique art direction, style, and atmosphere. The trilogy had a unique tone focused on a cartoon Phantom Thief who did Moody Atmospheric Heists in a comic-book-inspired world.
The trilogy integrated 2D animation into the game for cutscenes, and the characters-- while low-poly-- were designed to look as much like those flat 2D cartoons with cel-shaded outlines as they could within the limitations of the Ps2.

It took heavy influence from comic books and anime, especially Lupin III. The first game even had alternate anime versions of its 2D cutscenes that you could unlock!
Nearly all the levels took place at night, but the designers talked often about how their goal was to create the illusion of night time through vivid color palettes rather than darkness, taking inspiration from the vivid nighttime cityscapes in Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge.
As a result of their stylized art direction, the visuals-- primarily in the second one, which is the one that focuses the most tightly on Thieving & Moody Atmospheric Heists-- still hold up today.
And then Sly Cooper started appearing in “brand crossover games” and “reboots” and Oh god. Oh no. so that's why no one talks about it anymore.

I am haunted by this. People talk about their favorite cartoon character getting hit with the Uncanny Hyper-Detailed Beam and I instantly think of the sad fate of poor, poor sly cooper, who I am very nostalgic for, and his now-dead franchise that hasn't had a new installment in over a decade.
But to me this really emphasizes how strong art direction is far more important than polygon count, realism, or level of detail. Because there have been similar franchises rebooted in ways that manage to elevate the old 2D-inspired art styles with more modern graphics. Toys for Bob's new takes on Spyro and Crash Bandicoot both had stellar art direction!

But that kind of thoughtful art direction can be difficult to achieve. It's not even the fault of the artists or developers; these things are often beyond their control. But I am glad we're in an era where stylized 3D animation is becoming more popular. I hope more creators continue to realize that there is actually a big demand for media with interesting, unique art styles! also you should play sly 2: band of thieves
#video games#art#sly cooper#but yes. please weep with me as you read this#im having a mild hyperfixation moment#because being an adult means I can be a Gamer it turns out#the perils of having Cash#you really should play sly 2 band of thieves though.#okay: the first Sly game is a basic platformer game format elevated by stellar art direction and strong storytelling#the second game is focused on Doing Jobs to Prepare for Heists and more about exploring and sneaking around rather than platforming#and even improves on both the art style/storytelling with more explorable parts of the world and a more complex plot#and then the third one is the one they had to throw together in a couple months before the release of the ps3 made ps2 franchises obsolete#and is kind of a hot mess but has a couple cute moments

Masterlist
11: chapter ten
Idoljk x oc
Both girls were in the apartment in Seoul, which had been provided to them by the brand for their seven-month apprenticeship. They had arrived last night after spending four days in Busan, visiting Rian’s parents. Jia had fit in so seamlessly with her family that it felt like she had known them her whole life. Rian had initially worried that her father might say something or hint at his disapproval of the situation, but to her surprise, he had remained neutral, acting completely normal.
Still, she had really missed her parents. Even though they occasionally visited her in London, it wasn’t the same as being back in her home country. She had missed everything, the food, the atmosphere, the familiarity of it all.
Rian!" Jia burst into the bathroom, clutching two hair ties. "Ponytail or down?"
"Up," Rian said automatically, sliding a silver ring onto her index finger. "It looks more professional." Her own hands weren't entirely steady, she'd redone her eyeliner twice already.
Jia groaned, twisting her dark curls into a high ponytail. "This is worse than our RCA finals."
They were getting ready for their first day at the brand’s headquarters, and if they said they weren’t nervous, they would be lying. Jia had asked about her hair at least a hundred times, and the repetition was starting to get to Rian as well.
"Okay, let’s go," Jia said, taking a deep breath.
The headquarters was only twenty minutes away, so they decided to walk, stopping on the way to grab something to eat since they hadn’t stocked up on groceries yet.
Upon arriving, they were immediately escorted to the reception area in the grand main hall and directed to a seating area.
"Please wait here for a moment. Someone will come shortly to show you around and take you to your workspace," one of the staff members said, bowing politely. The girls returned the gesture with a slight bow of their own before sitting down.
Jia, seated beside Rian, began shaking her legs aggressively, her nerves clearly getting the best of her until Rian placed a firm hand on her knee.
"Jia, please," she whispered. "If you keep doing that, I’ll get even more nervous."
"Sorry," Jia mouthed, but her wide eyes kept darting around the space. "This place is—"
"Terrifying?" Rian supplied, gripping her cup of coffee tighter.
Jia shook her head. "I was going to say inspiring. But yeah. Also terrifying."
Even though they were only on the first floor in the reception hall, the grandeur of the place was overwhelming. Massive chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting an elegant glow over the pristine white marble floors. The walls were adorned with breathtaking paintings, alongside framed photographs of celebrities and even royalty wearing the brand’s exquisite jewelry. The design was sleek and modern but infused with rich red and gold accents, paying homage to Korea’s cultural heritage.
It was intimidating.
As they were immersed in taking in their surroundings, a woman approached them, prompting both girls to rise from their seats and return her bow.
"Hello, you must be the students sent by RCA. My name is Kim Mina, and I'll be your tour guide for today. I’ll also explain what your roles will be here."
"Hello, my name is Han Rian," Rian said, shaking her hand.
"And I’m Lee Jia," Jia added, doing the same.
"Welcome. As you can see, this building has five floors above ground, but there are also two additional floors below us, making a total of seven floors. The first underground level houses our high-security jewelry vault, where you can find some of the rarest and most exquisite jewelry pieces in the world. It’s highly protected. Below that is the artisans’ workshop, where world-renowned goldsmiths and gem setters work. It also contains a 3D printing lab and the quality control department."
She led them toward the elevator as she continued, "On the first floor, where we are now, you’ll find our showrooms and galleries. The second floor, which we’re heading to next, is what we call the Creativity Space. Here, you’ll find all the designers, material researchers, and collaboration spaces."
They stepped into the elevator, and Mina continued explaining, "Directly above that is what I call the Corporate Space, which handles the more boring aspects of the business, CEO offices, finance, and legal teams. The fourth floor is dedicated to digital and marketing strategies. Finally, the top floor is a highly secure VIP space. Access is by appointment only, and it’s used for showcasing high-jewelry pieces, storing archives, and catering to VIP clients who request custom pieces."
She turned to them. "Any questions?"
Both girls shook their heads, trying to absorb all the information.
"Now, as I mentioned, this floor is dedicated to design and creativity. We have thirty-six designer teams, and the two of you will be assigned to different teams."
"We’ll be separated?" Jia asked, slightly surprised.
"Yes, you will," Mina confirmed, glancing at her papers. "Jia, you’ll be assigned to the Digital & NFT Division. This way, please."
They followed her to a spacious, modern room where seven designers were working at their stations.
"Daella," Mina called, and a blonde woman lifted her head before walking toward them.
"This is the student assigned to your team, Jia. You’ll be working under Daella Smith, who leads the designers in this division."
"Please take care of me," Jia said with a polite bow.
"That’s great! Come on in and meet the team," Daella said with a smile. Jia turned to wave at Rian before stepping inside.
"Okay, Rian," Mina continued. "You’re assigned to the Men’s & Unisex Lab. This way, please."
They walked toward another section of the floor, where Mina introduced her to a man in his late twenties.
"This is Choi Hwan, who will be your team leader."
"Hello, my name is Han Rian," she said, bowing respectfully.
"Oh, the student?" he asked Mina, who nodded in confirmation. "Welcome! Come in, please."
"Everyone, this is Rian. She’s a student from RCA, and she’ll be with us for seven months. Let’s make her feel welcome," Hwan announced.
He gestured toward an empty desk. "That will be your spot. Please make it your own."
Rian nodded and began organizing her workspace, placing her sketchbook, tools, and a few personal items to make it feel more comfortable.
"Rian, once you’re settled, come join us over there. We always have a small brainstorming session at the end of the day to discuss ideas and upcoming projects."
"Okay," she replied with a small smile.
By the end of the workday, Rian stepped outside, waiting for Jia.
"Rian!" she heard someone call. Turning around, she saw Jia approaching with a guy and a girl. Rian wasn’t surprised, Jia had a way of making friends wherever she went.
"This is my friend Rian, the one I told you about," Jia introduced her proudly. "And Rian, these are Mayra and Jiho. I met them in my team today."
"Hello! Jia talked about you a lot," Mayra said warmly. She was a stunning girl with golden skin and striking hazel eyes.
"All good things, I hope?" Rian asked with a teasing smile.
"Relax," Jia said. "I'm saving your criminal record for the third hangout."
"Nice to meet you," Jiho said, offering a friendly nod. He was attractive in an intellectual way, with slightly tousled hair styled neatly enough to look effortless. His black-framed glasses only added to his overall aesthetic.
"You too," Rian replied.
"So, Mayra and I were talking, and she suggested we introduce you guys to Seoul’s nightlife as a little celebration for our first day here," Jiho said.
Rian was exhausted from the long day, but she didn’t want to leave Jia alone with people she had just met, even if they seemed friendly. She was still in a foreign country, far from the UK.
"at Club Octagon at 10?" Mayra added.
"Why not?" she agreed with a shrug.
"Great! We’ll meet there then. A few more friends of mine will be joining too, it’ll be fun," Jiho said enthusiastically.
Jiho pulled out his phone. "Let me get your contact in case you get lost." His smile revealed a faint dimple.
As Rian opened her KakaoTalk QR code, she caught Jia and Mayra exchanging gleeful looks, Jia even wiggled her eyebrows. Fantastic.
Great, she thought. Now I have two Jias to deal with.
"See you tonight," Jiho said, pocketing his phone with a wink.
As Jiho and Mayra walked away, Jia smirked at Rian. "Looks like someone’s already caught some attention."
Rian rolled her eyes. "Shut up and let's get ready."
When they entered the club, it was exactly what they had imagined Seoul’s nightlife to be, loud, energetic, and packed with people. The music pulsed through the air, neon lights flickered across the room, and the crowd moved in sync with the heavy bass.
The pulse of bass vibrated through Rian's chest as they pushed through the throng of dancers, neon lights streaking across her vision. She gripped Jia's hand tighter, their linked fingers the only anchor in the sea of bodies. Her phone buzzed, Jiho's message glowed on the screen VIP upstairs. Give our names at the rope.
The bouncer's tablet flashed green at their names, and suddenly they were ascending into a world of low-slung leather sofas and bottle service, the music slightly muted here. Myra sprang up, her sequined dress scattering light like a shattered disco ball.
Her face lighting up when she saw them. She pulled them both into a hug.
"Damn, girl! You look so hot," Mayra said, stepping back to admire Rian. "If I wasn’t into guys, I’d totally bag you."
"You wouldn’t be the first, but get in line, I called dibs first," Jia joked, smirking.
"Shut up," Rian muttered, rolling her eyes playfully before turning her attention to the rest of the group.
She scanned the section. Jiho stood from a curved banquette. "You look incredible," he murmured, fingers brushing her elbow.
"Thank you," Rian replied, trying to subtly shake Jia’s hand off her side, Jia was clearly enjoying this too much.
Jiho chuckled before gesturing toward the guy next to him. "This is Yijun, a music producer. And these are the girls we were waiting for, Jia and Rian."
"Oh, nice to meet you both," Yijun said with a warm smile.
"You too," Rian responded politely, sliding into the seat next to Jia while absentmindedly tucking her hair behind her ear.
As she glanced around, she heard a voice beside her.
"So, Jiho told me you’re from the UK?" Yijun asked curiously.
"Oh, no," Rian corrected. "I studied there since I was sixteen, but I’m originally from here."
"Ah, so I missed my chance to compliment your Korean?" he teased.
She laughed lightly. "You still can, honestly. My Korean is a bit rusty now."
"Where in Korea are you from?"
"I lived in Seoul for a while, but I spent most of my childhood in Busan."
"Busan? The guy who’s running late is from there too," Yijun mentioned casually.
"Oh, really?" Rian joked. "Maybe I know him."
"Who knows, maybe."
Just then, she heard someone else enter the VIP section. The sound of a greeting reached her ears, and she sensed someone approaching the seat behind her.
She instinctively turned with a polite smile, ready to introduce herself.
"Hello—"
But her voice caught in her throat. Her smile vanished the moment her eyes landed on him.
He froze too.
"Rian?"
"Jungkook."

The Rise of Cyber Sigilism: The Modern Graphic Design Trend Defining Digital Aesthetics From the brighter days of graphic design, it seems new aesthetics appearing in the foreground are shaping and redefining the visual language of the industry. Arguably one of the most remarkable and potent trends in the present digital design cycle today, Cyber Sigilism is the convergence of mysticism, technology, and futuristic typography that has attracted the designers, brands, and artists into a new approach to visual storytelling. But what is all about Cyber Sigilism, and why is it all gunning down contemporary design space?
Defining Cyber Sigilism
Cyber-Sigilism is an aesthetic mode that integrates cyberpunk attributes with esoteric and arcane symbols. Here, the sinuous, digital essence of the cyber-realm stands beside the cosmic sense of ancient mysticism, adorned with intricate glyphs, abstract typographics, and a dark atmosphere replete with futuristic tone. Such a trend has become extravagant, mysterious, and otherworldly-it offers something truly demanding for designers wanting to reveal their full vigor in bright and conceptually lucid compositions.
The term derives from "sigil," defined as a symbol endowed with mystical powers and most commonly associated with magical arts and the occult. By fusing such symbols with the digital and cybernetic aesthetic, a near-ritualistic, visually complex aesthetic emerges, one that resonates with the digital age's preoccupations with technology, spirituality, and dystopian themes.
Why Cyber Sigilism is Trending in Graphic Design
Internet culture and alternative aesthetics. An age where digital subcultures thrive calls for online art communities to go beyond every possible measure of cultural creativity. Instagram, Tumblr, and Behance have become platforms that allow space for experimentations, where Cyber Sigilism may have gained currency due to its aura of mystery that speaks in defiance.
Nostalgic yet hyper-futuristic appeal. Cyber Sigilism embodies the nostalgia of early Internet aesthetics, from the templates of old-school RPGs, sci-fi interfaces, and projects of the Y2K era, while very much elevating them into hyper-futuristic realms, thus bridging between the visual styles coming out of the past and that of the future.
The mystical and the technological. While society becomes ever more engrossed in the exploration of digital technologies and spirituality, Cyber Sigilism provides ample opportunity to fuse the two. Reflecting themes of mythology, sacred geometry, and cyberpunk interface, the style resonates with audiences who are equally curious about the unknown and the digital world’s unbounded potentials.
Appealing to a counterculture. Many artists and designers today provide a contrast to the mainstream vomit of design. The chaotic, almost anarchic vibe of Cyber Sigilism is the opposite of the clean, Zen-like trends that have dominated branding and UI/UX design for far too long. In essence, it gives designers an extra, loud-hard statement in directing why one not only should reject proper rules of design but, dare say, almost so common as that.
Key Elements of Cyber Sigilism Design
If considering Cyber Sigilism for any design work, the following are critical considerations:
• Intricate Glyphs and Symbols: Mysterious markings compile cryptic languages and custom-made sigils; hence these are significant.
• High-Contrast Type: Angular, demanding, distorted, and glitchy typography would further create futuristic and ritualistic atmospheres.
• Dark-and-neon Color Palettes: This specific combination of tones builds a cybernetic-and-supernatural ambience with pitchdark blacks, electric blues, and neon greens.
• Layering Visuals and Textures: Interference from grids, noise textures, and abstract 3D renders-the layering technique complicates everything just a bit.
• Glitches and Digital Distortions: Static distortion, pixelation, and cybernetic interference allow the digital mystique to explode.
Final Thoughts
Graphic design is a constantly-changing domain, and Cyber Sigilism represents the avant-garde of the modern-day digital aesthetic landscape. This unusual and magnificent design style works to break accepted norms by mixing futuristic cyberpunk elements with ancient mysticism. Become a Cyber-Sigilism initiator, and whether you are a designer willing to hack the style or a brand willing to stand out, you'll ensure attention from a contemporary audience.
As this trend rises onward, one thing is certain: Cyber Sigilism is rewiring this visual identity for the digital age. (all works are courtesy of @mun15h on Instagram, go check him out! he does amazing cybersigil designs)

Traditional Braid Styles of Howa’ahian Women
Howa’ahian women wear a range of braid styles, each with its own unique look and purpose. These styles are inspired by Viking or Nordic traditions and include:
Cornrows These braids sit close to the scalp, often forming intricate patterns. Cornrows are highly practical, keeping hair secure and out of the way during daily tasks like hunting, crafting, or working the land. The patterns might also reflect clan ties or personal milestones, adding a layer of identity to this functional style.
French Braid A versatile and iconic style, the French braid can be worn as a single braid down the back or paired with undercuts or side braids for a bolder look. In Howa’ah, it’s often seen as elegant and is popular for special occasions like festivals or ceremonies, where it might signal refinement or status.
Triple Braid This striking style involves braiding three separate sections of hair and then weaving them together. It’s a bold choice that symbolizes strength and unity, often favored by women in leadership roles or those wanting to make a powerful statement.
Braid with Fade Combining braids with a faded or shaved section, this style offers a rugged, low-maintenance option. It’s especially suited for women with thick hair or those who prefer a practical, warrior-like appearance that aligns with Howa’ah’s rugged lifestyle.
Dutch Braid Similar to the French braid but with a raised, 3D effect, the Dutch braid gives a modern twist to traditional styles. It’s a favorite among younger women or those seeking a standout, textured look.
Fishtail Braid This intricate braid mimics the look of fish scales, offering a delicate and beautiful design. Often worn during romantic or courtship-related events, it’s associated with femininity and grace.
Crown Braid A braid that wraps around the head like a crown, sometimes decorated with trinkets or flowers. This style is typically reserved for significant events like weddings or rites of passage, symbolizing dignity and celebration.
These braids go beyond mere fashion. They reflect the wearer’s lifestyle—whether she’s a worker needing practicality, a leader displaying status, or an individual expressing her unique style.
Cultural Significance of Braiding in Howa’ah
In Howa’ah, braiding isn’t just a personal choice—it’s a cultural act with deep meaning, especially when someone else is involved. A key tradition states that when an unrelated man braids a woman’s hair, it signifies his romantic interest or claim to her. This gesture can mean:
A claim: He’s publicly declaring his intent to pursue her, possibly as part of courtship or a step toward marriage.
A desire: It expresses his wish to be with her romantically, even if it’s not yet a formal commitment.
This practice makes braiding a powerful symbol in Howa’ahian society. It’s an intimate act that can shape relationships and is often tied to:
Courtship: A man might braid a woman’s hair at a public event, like a festival, to signal his feelings. If she allows it, it could mark the beginning of a romantic pursuit.
Marriage: In some traditions, braiding is part of wedding rituals, with the groom braiding his bride’s hair to symbolize their bond.
For women, letting a man braid their hair can show trust or interest, while for men, it’s a bold way to communicate their intentions. This elevates braiding from a simple hairstyle to a meaningful social custom.
Cara’s Connection to Braiding
Cara, a character who learns how to braid and uses all these styles, embodies the richness of Howa’ahian hair traditions. Her journey with braiding likely reflects her personal growth and ties to her culture:
Skill and Growth: Mastering cornrows, French braids, triple braids, and more shows Cara’s development. It’s not just about technique—it’s about her gaining confidence and embracing her abilities.
Cultural Identity: By learning these traditional styles, Cara connects with Howa’ahian heritage, perhaps deepening her sense of belonging or rediscovering her roots.
Relationships: Given the romantic significance of braiding, Cara’s skills could influence her interactions. She braids her own hair to assert independence or allow someone else to braid it as a sign of closeness.
Her versatility with all braid types—practical cornrows, elegant French braids, bold triple braids—suggests she adapts to different contexts, mirroring her evolving role in the story.

First Look: “Cozy Kitsch” and “Sweet Slumber Party” TS4 Creator Kits
One month after announcing The Sims 4 Creator Kits, EA gave players a first look into Myshunosun’s Cozy Kitsch and Trillyke’s Sweet Slumber Party kits. These will debut as the new type of DLC, both set to release on November 14th.
The Making of The Sims 4 Creator Kits
Read the entire blog post below.
Behind the Scenes of the New Creator Kits Coming Soon!
We recently announced The Sims 4 Creator Kits, and we’re excited to share more about how these kits went from an idea to reality, along with an exclusive look at our first two Creator Kits launching on November 14: Myshunosun’s Cozy Kitsch and Trillyke’s Sweet Slumber Party.
But first, let us introduce our two talented creators:
📻 Myshunosun, known to her family and friends as Kristina, has been playing The Sims since 2007, and the game's endless possibilities for playing with life inspired them to create their own custom content. “I'm grateful for the opportunity to channel my passion for art, visual design, and 3D modeling in such a unique way—seeing the items I create come to life in the world of The Sims is truly rewarding.“
💅 Trillyke grew up with The Sims, and started making custom content in 2016. “I saw what incredible things other creators made, and found it fascinating that these assets were available for everyone to play with so I decided to create my own.” For her own work, she mostly draws inspiration from modern fashion, alternative fashion, street fashion, and k-fashion.
We’re so proud to be able to work with these amazingly talented creators and bring their creations to more Simmers. Whether you're embracing vibrant colors and mid-century modern designs with Cozy Kitsch, or looking to elevate your sleepwear and sleepovers with Sweet Slumber Party, these Creator Kits offer more ways to play and tell stories across platforms.
We’ll be sharing and showing more about what’s inside these Creator Kits as we draw nearer to launch on November 14. In the meantime, our team sat down with Myshunonsun and Trillyke to share more about the collaboration that went into bringing these Creator Kits to life.
What’s the difference between these Creator Kits and the kits you’ve collaborated on with creators in the past?
The Sims Team : The Sims 4 Creator Kits mark the first time that a full collection of in-game assets have been crafted by a creator and officially published by The Sims development team.
This new type of official kit partners with creators from the custom content community to lead the creation and design of new in-game content. Creators have the freedom to pitch kit themes and create items that speak to what they want to see in-game. This content will be distributed via official channels and available to all players, including Simmers on console! This approach will allow all players to add even more variety to their game, and console players to enjoy new content from creators previously limited to PC and Mac players.
We know there may be some confusion between previous kits featuring community collaborations and this new process. Previous kits, like our most recent Storybook Nursery with Sixam, start with outreach to the potential collaborator, who then pitches their idea for their potential kit, and works with the The Sims team to finalize the design and theme. The Sims team then creates the items in-game to bring the vision to life.
We understand that not everyone may be familiar with–or interested in–creating in-game items, so collaborative opportunities will continue to exist as an avenue to work with Simmers who may have exciting ideas that reflect communal interests, but may not have the technical ability to see these ideas realized on their own.
Each Kit begins with a pitch, which comes in the form of a mood board from our creators to illustrate the overall vision. What inspired your Creator Kit pitches?
Trillyke: Movies! I was always fascinated by how sleepover parties were portrayed in movies. Endless hours of gossiping, dozens of teen magazines and skin care products scattered around the room, cute PJs and fluffy socks! I participated in sleepovers in my teen years, but never on the scale these movies presented them. So I wanted to create a kit revolving around one of the main (and my favorite) focuses of teen slumber parties–the cozy and cute attire!
Myshunosun: I love creating items with vibrant color palettes. When The Sims team reached out to me, I immediately envisioned a specific palette of vivid reds, mustardy yellows, and amethyst greens. I associate these vibrant shades with mid-century design, which I consider a timeless style in interior design. As both a player and creator, I aim to craft items that blend seamlessly with the rest of The Sims 4 catalog. This project felt like an excellent opportunity to share my personal passion for color and mid-century design with other players. The first item I designed was the vintage radio—my favorite piece in the kit!
What went into making these Creator Kits?
The Sims Team: Each item that is created for a Creator Kit has a unique set of parts depending on whether it lives in the Create a Sim (CAS) or Build/Buy (BB) game mode. The inspiration for each item comes from the initial pitch, where our creators introduce their vision in the form of a mood board that tells the story, tone, and vision for a cohesive kit. This helps the The Sims team understand what the creator is trying to achieve, and what it would take to successfully support the creator's vision.
After the pitch, creators submit a comprehensive list of all the items they want in this kit, and The Sims team then evaluates if each item can be supported within our current toolset. A template is then created from the The Sims team’s catalog of assets that serves as the foundation for the creator to build upon.
The creators are then able to use this template to create a 3D model, colors, textures, and swatches for their item, with the help of documentation and guidelines provided by The Sims team. These guidelines are more about performance functionality and less about artistic style, so players can use the items in the ways they would expect to in-game. For example, if there is a bookcase, Sims can pick a book from it and read, and that CAS clothing will support a variety of body types.
Once a creator submits all of these parts for each item, The Sims team carry out a series of tasks and tests with Quality Verification that helps us catch any issues before the item is ready to be released. This also allows The Sims team to maintain compatibility with all other content releases.
For BB assets, creators have to additionally write a description for each asset, which is eventually added to the game catalog and translated by EA into the 18 different languages TS4 supports.
The final step is prepping for publishing. The creators name their kit, write the descriptions for store pages, use an early build to capture screenshots, and create renders of objects that will end up on the front of the kit art (packaging). The Sims team works with the creator to ensure everything is approved, then polishes, localizes, and delivers the final artwork–fully bringing the creator’s vision to The Sims community. We’re continuously improving and refining our process based on feedback from our creators and collaborators to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience. The details of this process may look different in the future.
Did you learn anything new throughout this process?
Myshunonsun: Getting to know The Sims team was thrilling! As a self-taught creator, understanding how the team develops content for The Sims was an invaluable learning experience. This project helped me improve various aspects of my content creation process. For instance, I'm now much more confident in creating 3D models.
Trillyke: A lot! From small technical details to bigger, more in-depth factors of what goes into creating a kit was very fascinating to see. I was introduced to many different methods, platforms and tools, it was very interesting to see how many different things and even teams are involved to publish a kit!
How much creative freedom does the creator have?
The Sims Team: Creator Kits are a partnership between the community creator and The Sims team. The idea and decision-making behind what to create, how it will look, and how to go about authoring it comes from the creators themselves. Creators propose and refine the idea for their kit, select the clothing and objects they want to create and what they’ll look like, and come up with the names and descriptions that you’ll read in-game. That creative freedom even extends to areas you might not expect, such as capturing the screenshots for their kit, arranging the cover art, and writing the description of the kit that appears in the marketplace.
Because we see Creator Kits as part of our overall kits lineup, The Sims team does help set certain standards and expectations with the intent of preserving creative freedom. For example, we do ask creators to regulate the volume of content they include, and we share performance criteria their items must meet to maintain the game’s stability for all players. We’re learning and growing from our experience with creators to refine the process for greater accessibility.
Our goal is to empower more creators to unleash their creativity and bring new ideas and styles to The Sims 4, including things that we at The Sims may have never chosen to create ourselves. Embracing those creative differences creates a clear path to more choice and new experiences for everyone who plays The Sims 4!
What surprised you about the process?
Myshunosun: While it wasn't surprising to learn that there are many factors to consider when creating new items, the sheer amount of documentation was impressive! It was extremely useful and helpful, of course.
Trillyke: A pleasant surprise was how much freedom I got from The Sims team! From brainstorming on kit ideas till creating the final last touches I was given a free hand, but the team was always ready to encourage me and help me, whenever I needed assistance! Being able to express my creativity has been absolutely amazing and I am very thankful for that!

How did you pick which creators to work with, and how are they compensated?
The Sims Team: The Sims community and our custom content creators are exceptionally talented – choosing who to work with was an incredibly difficult decision!
As integrating assets that are made outside of The Sims team is such a new process for us, we treated this first wave of Creator Kits as a pilot. We’ve been working with a pool of custom content creators who are known in The Sims community for their high quality creations, responsiveness to community reported issues, and who are in good standing with official current Mods and Game Updates Policy, which can be found here.
This group has been instrumental throughout the pilot to inform a creator-first strategy and allow our team to adapt to their feedback and continue to refine the experience. We wanted to understand their typical process of creation, while also ensuring that this experience would be valuable and rewarding for them to take part in. Throughout this process, all creators have been fairly financially compensated according to competitive market standards at every stage for their time, input, and expertise. This has been integral to this pilot program and reflects our values of ensuring equitable compensation as part of The Sims Creator Program.
What has been the most rewarding part about creating your kit with The Sims team?
Myshunosun: Overseeing the process from the initial pitch stage all the way through to creating publishing assets was an incredible experience. I have never imagined that I would get an opportunity to collaborate with The Sims team, but here we are.
Trillyke: The answer is in the question - creating my kit with The Sims team! It’s been such an honor to work with people who work on a game so close to my heart! Seeing the kit grow from week to week and from month to month has been a wonderful feeling! Knowing that people use my custom content has always filled me with excitement, but seeing my content in the official game is something on another level! Little me who played the franchise for countless hours and often from dawn to dusk would never believe that one day her work would be in the game that she adores!
What does this mean for free CC and mods?
The Sims Team: No changes! We're simply excited to bring more possibilities to all players.
What’s next for Creator Kits?
The Sims Team: We’re just getting started! We’re really excited to hear what the community thinks, and we have more Creator Kits coming in 2025. Our whole team loves working with creators and we’re planning to expand this program in the future.
Is there any advice you have for other creators, or anyone who is looking to learn more or level up their craft?
Myshunosun: If you're an aspiring creator, I encourage you to engage with the community of fellow creators. The Sims community is a treasure trove of knowledge and passion. The best way to learn something new is to try it yourself and openly share with others. For example, Tumblr is an excellent space to build that type of connection.
Trillyke: Just start it! I know it sounds overwhelming, and it is not something you can master overnight, but why should you anyway? Learning is the fun part! Through the small steps you can learn so many new things and gain so much experience! Even after creating for over 8 years, I still find myself learning new things! Especially now, when there are so many materials available for everyone, there really is nothing that could stop you trying something new! So yeah, just start it! :)
Looking to the future, we’re excited to continue to explore new ways to work together with the community to shape the game into something that speaks to players across all walks of life! We’re hopeful that The Sims 4 Creator Kits will serve as another way to uplift the amazing work being done in our communities and let their creators reach a wider audience.

5 Types of Technical Drawings You Must Know

What is Technical Drawing?
Ever looked at a building and wondered how it came to life from paper to a real structure? That’s the magic of technical drawing — a precise, visual language used to communicate design intent, structure, and specifications of everything from buildings to mechanical components.
Importance of Technical Drawing in Modern Industries
Whether you’re into architecture, engineering, manufacturing, or construction, types of technical drawing is the foundation. They eliminate ambiguity and serve as a universal guide that ensures every bolt, beam, or brick fits perfectly.
1. Architectural Drawings
Overview of Architectural Drawings
These are the blueprints of creativity. Architectural drawings translate imaginative concepts into practical realities for builders and stakeholders.
Floor Plans
A top-down view of any structure, showing wall layouts, room sizes, and door/window placements.
Elevations
These depict the front, side, and rear views — showing how the building will look from different angles.
Sections
Cut-through views that show internal components, like ceiling heights, floor levels, and hidden elements.
Why It’s Essential in Building Design & Drawing
Architectural drawings provide a complete visual breakdown of how a building should be constructed, ensuring safety, function, and aesthetics are aligned.
2. Engineering Drawings
What Makes Engineering Drawings Unique?
While architecture focuses on form and space, engineering drawings dive deep into function and technical precision.
Mechanical Drawings
Showcase machine parts, assemblies, materials, and dimensions — down to the last bolt.
Electrical Schematics
Highlight wiring, circuits, and power flow, ensuring everything lights up and runs as it should.
Civil Engineering Blueprints
Used for roads, bridges, drainage systems, and more. These often include contour lines, cross-sections, and grading details.
How Engineers Use These for Precision and Safety
Engineers rely on these drawings for accurate measurements and reliable designs, avoiding catastrophic design failures.
3. Structural Drawings
Understanding Structural Load & Design
Think of this as the skeleton of any project. Structural drawings ensure that a building stands tall and strong, regardless of environmental challenges.
Reinforcement Details
Details on where and how much steel rebar goes into concrete slabs, beams, and columns.
Foundation and Column Layouts
These ensure load distribution is even and safe, especially in multi-story buildings.
Key Role in Building Design & Drawing Accuracy
Without proper structural drawings, even the most beautiful building design could crumble like a house of cards.
4. Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
What is a P&ID Drawing?
These are life support systems for plants and industries. P&IDs show how pipelines, valves, tanks, and instruments connect in a process system.
Valve Symbols, Flow Lines & Instrument Tags
Each element is represented by a unique symbol or code, making it easy to understand even complex processes.
Applications in Plant and Process Design
Used extensively in chemical plants, oil refineries, HVAC systems, and water treatment facilities.
5. CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Drawings
Evolution from Manual Drafting to CAD
Gone are the days of drafting tables and T-squares. Today, CAD software brings designs to life faster, more accurately, and in 3D.
2D vs 3D CAD
2D CAD is ideal for flat, simple layouts like floor plans.
3D CAD allows for realistic visualization, essential for mechanical assemblies and building walkthroughs.
How CAD is Revolutionizing Building Design & Drawing
With features like real-time editing, layering, and simulation, CAD has become the backbone of modern design and drafting.
Choosing the Right Type of Technical Drawing
Based on Industry Use-Cases
Architects go for floor plans and elevations.
Mechanical engineers need section views and assembly drawings.
Civil engineers rely on site and structural layouts.
Role of Project Scope and Objectives
The type of drawing depends on the end goal — whether it’s visualising a concept, instructing construction teams, or submitting permits.
Software Used in Technical Drawings
AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit & More
Each type of technical drawing has its own preferred tools:
AutoCAD – Universal for 2D/3D drafting
SolidWorks – Mechanical design
Revit – BIM and architectural modeling
SketchUp – Conceptual 3D modeling
Industry Preferences for Building Design & Drawing
Most architecture firms and civil companies prefer Revit or AutoCAD, while manufacturing teams lean on SolidWorks or CATIA.
Best Practices in Creating Technical Drawings
Accuracy and Detailing
A small error can lead to a big mess. Ensure units, scales, and dimensions are precise.
Use of Standards and Symbols
Follow global standards like ISO, ANSI, or BIS to maintain consistency across drawings.
Future of Technical Drawing
BIM Integration
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a combination of architecture, structure, and services into a single collaborative platform.
AI-Assisted Drafting Tools
AI can now suggest corrections, detect clashes, and automate repetitive tasks, making technical drawing smarter and faster.
Conclusion
Technical drawings are more than just lines on paper — they are the visual DNA of every successful project. Whether you’re designing a skyscraper, assembling a machine, or planning a chemical plant, understanding the types of technical drawing is essential for clarity, precision, and collaboration.
No matter your industry, mastering these drawings helps turn visions into reality — one line, symbol, and annotation at a time.

thoughts on Tekken8 so far ?
Not too many, I have mostly mixed feelings on Tekken stuff but:
Okay this rules, this is a killer fucking idea for a fighting game story mode. I was actually just thinking the other day about how a lot of modern fighting games with big story modes can't really integrate the tournament structure into the story, so it's either not there or it becomes a schrodinger's tournament. But here there's no mistaking it, there is a King of Iron Fist tournament being held and fighters the world over are invited to join with their lives and with the lives of their ENTIRE COUNTRIES riding on the line. This rules, this fucking rules, I'm pissed Street Fighter didn't do this first because this is the most M.Bison idea that is also a way better plot than anything M.Bison ever did, fuck yeah.
I've heard this described as Tekken doing the Cell Games and having never watched Dragon Ball I'll have to take their word for it.
Don't care about Jin, never have really, but I am at least marginally curious as to how they'll square "Jin you are the light and hope of this world you are the hero of everything you must save us all" and "you totally fucking killed millions of people for no reason with that WW3 stunt dude". Love that Kazuya throws this in his face like, you weak little shit, you think you're putting me down? You think YOU have some kind of body count? Well it's just gonna keep growing watch this *BWOOOOOM
Tekken has spent a loooot of games running in a loooot of circles around the Mishima bloodline drama so this game promising to blow things out of proportion, with Heihachi dead (so far) and Kazuya cutting loose and the entire world seriously on the line, well okay that has my interest.
Gotta be honest folks, up until now I actually hated Azucena. Decent design, Peruvian representation is extremely rare and I was super on board for that, really liked for a beat how her fighting style's meant to abuse Tekken's 3D space with a lot of dodging and swaying... but then the character started talking and, oh great, she only talks about food, she's a gimmick character that only talks about her gimmick, here comes the next annoying latin-american stereotype that the gringos just find sooo charming and sexy and funny, here comes the next El Fuerte/Laura/Zarina, and all my interest died.
And then the latest story trailer revealed that she's happily teaming up with the G Corporation (and by extension Kazuya, you know, the guy currently raining fire and murder on the entire planet) because they make for "better brand optics for my coffee" and, huh. Well. Turns out she's a total piece of shit! The "beloved for her innocent personality" thing was a dead giveaway looking at it now. Turns out she's a business major cracking winks and poses while tanks and soldiers steamroll the land and people around her. You hear a lot of stories growing up here about plantation owners being cutthroat ghouls and I must admit, it's pretty great seeing that as the twist on a typically obnoxious Disney inclusivity cartoon person, feels very topical. Maybe it is just a rehash of Lucky Chloe's twist but Lucky Chloe wasn't that inspired to begin with where as this feels a bit more thought out. I expect to be ultimately dissappointed but it sure got me almost kinda liking her a bit.
Big year for evil women in fighting games.
Feels like Tekken was just bound to have a Nick Fury at some point with other fighting games elevating characters to that position, but it is pretty weird that this a thing, right? I guess when they're going more into world-threatening stakes and characters teaming up being treated like an Avengers gathering you kinda need a Nick Fury or several to glue that nonsense together. Anyway, Victor's pretty cool. Kinda shocked that he's the first French character in Tekken apparently.
It's not easy to make me like espionage-themed characters in fighting games but he's got enough style to him that I appreciate. He's just Vincent Cassel if he was a John Wick guy with a weird Final Fantasy sword but that's not like a bad combo by any means, really just seems like Harada really wanted to put a guy he likes from da movies in there. It's the Kojima impulse but hey, if it works and the voice acting isn't terrible (like a certain other studio, seriously how do you manage to get such lackluster material out of J.K Simmons doing Omni-Man), I'm cool with it.
I'm not too sure what to think of Reina? I feel like that's gonna be entirely dependant on her role in the game, because the other two are fairly throwaway characters where as her they seem to be putting a lot of stock in. I kinda like her design although I appreciate it better in fan art that lets her actually emote and look mean, the in-game face is just way too dull for what she's doing. I like the ego she's got and that she can back it up, that she's this new mystery newcomer with potential arriving to shake up the scene. I think a lot about her would be very generic and forgettable if it wasn't backed up by her mean punk personality and power, which I really appreciate. She kinda feels like if Asuka wasn't a joke. I'm just curious as to what her actual role is gonna be, and while I don't think she's gonna be a full blown villain the way Kazuya is, I'm gonna be pretty dissappointed if she just immediately slides into being a hanger-on hero. So I'm just waiting for more on her with cautious optimism.
I hope Heihachi never comes back because A: it's just wrong to have him without Unsho Ishizuka to voice him, and B: I hope they never ruin the humor of "Yeah he's dead dead but he has at least 20 bastard children all over the world and at least one of them is gunning for the throne so if you thought he was done causing problems or that the Mishima Bloodline would end with Jin, lmao"
