BG3 Modding Tutorial - Tattoos
Part II Body Tattoos
Tumblr media
Reworked Tutorial...because people still like it and reblog my crap :D
Now you can have your unique tattoo file and you don't have to paint on the body texture as I did when I made the old tutorials.
PART I - Face Tattoos -> here
You need:
A photo editor as PS or gimp etc.
Body uv-map
Body textures
The file from the unique tav_mod by kartoffels as a template. Grab it on the Nexus or make your own.
Phantasy, brushes, time...
Or download my file here
Load your necessary files in Gimp or PS etc. The body texture will not be exported- it's just a help/ orientation where the tattoo is placed.
Tumblr media
The next pic above shows the uv-map with the different body parts. Watch out when you make tattoos for the arms or legs. The left side of the uv map body part represents the back of the arm or leg. Hm, writing this I'm not sure anymore-- try it out :D
Tumblr media
Then create your stuff on different layers:
Tumblr media
and merge your levels together when you are finished. The same prodcedure as for the face tattoos.
Don't forget to deselect the uv-map and the body texture!
Your merged file should look like this:
Tumblr media
Now load the tattoo file from Kartoffels mod in your editor or create your own.
Your own should look like this.
Tumblr media
You have to use the slice tool to subdivide the file.
Then copy paste your tattoo in your new tattoo file in the red channel
Tumblr media
Then drag/ move it in the left corner..
Tumblr media
and scale it that it fits in the first square of your tattoo file
Tumblr media
Select all channels before you export. Your file should look like this:
Tumblr media
Export your file:
Tumblr media
Name of the file is: Skin_Atlas_Body_UNI_Tattoo_A_MSK.dds
And your new creation goes here:
Games\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\unique_tav\BODY\TATTOO
Happy Modding!

i could talk about these for HOURS, they're all my effects pedals!! i haven't fully tapped into all of them but i've been doing a lot of recording lately so i'll probably make some pretty noises with all of them some day in the near future :>
the first picture's order is all wonky because that's the order i have the pedals in the chain
1. EHX' Mel-9 (Mellotron emulator)
2. Alexander Pedals' Defender (OD/DST/FZ)
3. TC Electronic's Grand Magus (RAT similar)
4. Behringer's Noise Reducer (i use mostly as a mute when tuning)
5. TC Electronic's Afterglow (chorus)
6. Donner's Mod Square II (16 modulation in a mini casing)
7. TC Electronic's Hall of Fame 2 (digital reverb)
8. EHX' Oceans 12 (dual digital reverb/delay)
9. homemade JHS Little Black Box copy (1 setting buffer)
---not on the board---
10. TC Electronic's Sub'n'Up (octave)
11. Proco's RAT (distortion/fuzzish?) this one gets put back on the board every now and the
12. Dunlop's Crybaby (wah-wah)
13. Danelectro's Dan-Echo (echo/delay)
14. Joyo's Wow-Wah (auto-wah)
15. Donner's Echo Square
16. BOSS' ODB-3 (bass overdrive) i use this a lot when i play bass :)
17. BOSS' LMB-3 (bass limiter/enhancer)
18. BOSS' RBF-10 (rack mount flanger)
19. Danelectro's EStudio Honeytone E-15 (my dad's headphone amp from the mid-late '90s, not really a pedal but it can sorta be)
secret 20. 1-Spot Pro (power supply under the board, also not really a pedal but it's essential for the rig)

First Impressions: Cities: Skylines II is mid
Tumblr media
Rating: 3/5 stars (so far) Played on: Intel Core i7-11700KF + RTX 3060 12GB
It's been a week and a half since Cities: Skylines II was released. While I haven't created my perfect societal utopia that this game is capable of, this latest instalment looks super cool. But is it worth the $100+ AUD for the Ultimate Edition?
Note: As of writing, we reached level 3 in terms of city growth and haven't bought that many squares.
Just like its predecessor, Cities: Skylines II is a game where you can build your dream city. Only this time, improvements and changes were made to make this a way more advanced city building simulator. Similar to the first game, you get to select a handful of maps that the game provides. From there, the sky's the limit on what you want to do in this world. The only thing that's stopping you is your imagination and budget.
One of the big changes this game made is that the budget that you start with has drastically increased. However, it also meant that the cost of service buildings, resources, and roads, have risen as well. If you plan well, fingers crossed you don't fall into bankruptcy. Many features from mods and DLC made their way to the base game, like making interesting road patterns. Unfortunately, you can't control the traffic manually.
One big surprise that I witnessed during the first few minutes of playing is how resource buildings, like power plants and windmills, have increased in size. It felt more appropriate in terms of appearance. Another shocker is how the terraforming tools, like flattening or making hills, are easily accessible at the start of the game. No need to wait or increase your city if you want to level the lands. And unlike the first game, terraforming tools are much easier to use and aren't as clunky compared to the first game's vanilla options.
Other cool changes and features that were created exclusively in the sequel are as follows:
You can build bridges and adjust where the ramp starts.
There are skill trees that can help improve your city's efficiencies
You can drop roundabouts in the middle of existing roads
Roads already have pipes and electricity grids, making your infastructure sorted automatically.
Landfill is its own designated area, just like how you can draw industry areas in the first game. So you can create and shape this dumpster fire to your heart's content. The same can be said for other industry areas, like farmland.
You can buy around 80 squares as the maps have gotten bigger and more detailed.
Buildings, like hospitals or cemeteries, can be upgraded to add more capacity for people or trucks.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Now let's go to the elephant in the room - performance.
I was shocked when I learned that the recommended specs to run this game are an RTX 3080 (10 GB) and a 12th gen CPU. We're also aware of the comments the developers made about the game's performance during a Reddit AMA. So I had my fingers crossed that this purchase wouldn't lead to a refund.
Just playing the game, it's pretty clear that the frame rates are bad, to the point where it lagged in some areas. However, running the default settings on a 3060 didn't hinder the experience. It is important to note that we're playing this game on a 1080p monitor. Also, I've noticed some lag when you move around the map very fast or how it takes some time for some of the buildings to properly render. It's playable, but when compared to playing the first game with a ton of mods, you do question why game devs are doing this.
Overall thoughts
It's no secret that Cities: Skylines II has more detail compared to its predecessor. The sequel has added more options and opportunities to develop your city. While everything does look pretty, there are some buildings, like housing, that kinda look... eh? It could have been designed better.
Overall, Cities: Skylines II is more micro-managey than the first one and it's gonna take at least 2 more cities to fully grasp the game. It's going to take a while to get used to the game, especially since we're playing without mods. But based on how it's currently running on a current-gen PC, it's up to you if you want to tolerate the poor graphical performance that this game offers.
It's such a shame we have to choose between good graphics to PC performance. Perhaps it could improve in the future, or maybe not. At least it can run.

Let's solve this mystery, gang
What happened was this:
I was looking through the 2022  submissions but noticed art that keep appearing in the thumbnail that doesn’t appear in the gallery itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I kept refreshing to no avail so I just decided to check out the galleries of everybody who hasn’t submitted yet from the participants list. Part of it to see what’s everyone been up to and maybe steal some inspo for my own WIPs. But while I was clicking away at wishlists, I couldn’t also couldn’t help checking if they matched my Secret Santa. I sat for like three hours straight staring at their words–and why did I do that? I mean I did stand up occasionally–but mostly I was keysmashing in panicked answers.
I did not find the gallery for whoever submitted that Shadow/Snake/Gemini art, but I did narrow down who could have gotten me.
Tumblr media
1) Obviously those who already submitted are ruled out
2) It can’t be the mod because it’s not his style in either message or content also why would he even do that, that’s a pretty 4D chess move, but 4D chess is, again, not his style
3) They’re someone who really cares about the portrayal and characterization of other people’s characters–this person is a writer. Could be straight prose, could be an RPer…. I’m coming up blank with other options. There doesn’t seem to be any straight-up writers joining for this round so most likely an RPer or at least someone who has lots and lots of OCs, is someone who loves OCs or is friends with people who loves OCs.
I was wondering why there would be a need to ask, especially with the questions about the situation behind my character description.
1) Was this person writing a story? But there are no participants who mostly have a gallery of written pieces. The few I could think on hand a) have already submitted b) have not joined this year
2) So this person is primarily an artist but may have switched to prose. Maybe a combination of illustration and prose.
3) This person is still doing an illustrated piece but depicting something that needs specific knowledge of Café Woman’s former and current situation.
The last one intrigued me and is still my primary guess. But which participant seems into that? Who’s the most likely to take the risk?
I switched back to thinking that if this is a writer, won’t they feel safer tackling the canon characters, Tundra and Cut? Maybe throwing a Café cameo? I realize that’s something I would do if I were in the same situation. I’d focus on the favorite character and then learn the canon around them. Then I go looking around how the recipient either feels about said character or depicts them, just to get an idea of their general vibes. So, this person is a risk taker, rather than just safely picking Tundra, which I offered if they’ll do one character, and goes out of their way to make sure to include Friska because I said I’d really like that.
I think the most curious of all was the way they referred to the Café as my fan character. The most common term for them is OCs. At some point, I began using “fan character” instead and I think that’s the minority in the fandom. Either this person also uses the term fan characters or have made a note to use the term I also use. i) that means the person is really thoughtful ii) but the language used too quick and casual to be too deliberate
That threw a wrench in my whole reasoning, so I just went to to square one
1) cares about the portrayals of other people’s fan characters
I make it sound like I was so methodical, but these were just flitting thoughts I had while clicking through profiles and wishlists. Never found the missing deviation but I wound up with three likely suspects. Then I just went all in with this one guess.
Tumblr media
Reasoning: Hasn’t submitted, lower caps, and has OCs and has a link to their profiles.
That’s my split second decision. I was getting frustrated so I closed the browser and went to rest my eyes. And then I got back up and wrote this post.
Well, I’ll see in a few days probably.

                                         WORLD OF BALANCE
Relm is a sassy ten-year-old little girl who lives with her grandpa, Strago Magus. The party first meets Relm on the journey to Thamasa when she interrupts their conversation with Strago, asking if they can use magic. During this conversation, her and Interceptor, Shadow’s dog, become fast friends. While the party sleeps, Relm spends the night at a friend’s house to play with a fire rod, causing the whole house to go up in flames. With the help of Terra and Locke, Strago manages to reach Relm in the burning building, but the smoke is too much for all three of them and they collapse. Shadow and Interceptor show up soon after and rescue the party from the fire.
Strago explains the “secret” behind Thamasa to the party, and its connection to the Espers and the War of the Magi before leaving with Terra and Locke to go find the Espers. Relm disobeys Strago and follows along, catching up to them as they battle Ultros. During the battle, many a funny scene occurs, and Relm eventually ends up painting “Uncle Ulty” portrait. “Uncle Ulty” loses the battle, and Relm proves herself to be a very helpful party member.
Relm convinces the Espers to talk to General Leo and negotiate with the Gestahlian Empire. Unfortunately, talks of “peace” are cut short as Kefka shows up revealing everything to be a ruse, and how it was just a ploy for the Empire to gather more magicite. Relm fights alongside Terra and the others on the Floating Continent, but when Kefka’s plan ends up coming true, the world is “destroyed”, and a new one comes into being.
                                            WORLD OF RUIN
A year after Kefka’s plan bears its fruits, and Celes comes to, and begins the search for their friends, depending on whether or not if the player had saved Shadow on the Floating Continent, when the party finds Relm, it will be different.
If the party had not saved Shadow, Relm would be in the Cave on the Veldt with Interceptor. The player must fight and win against a Behemoth King in order to save her and take her back to Thamasa.
If the party had saved Shadow, Relm would not be in the caverns, and they’d meet her in Jihdor in Owzer’s house, hired by Owzer himself, attempting to restore a beautiful painting of his that Chadarnook had corrupted. After Celes and co. (or whoever’s in the party) beats Chadarnook, Relm promises Owzer that she will return to finish the painting.
Shortly after rejoining her friends, Relm travels with them to the Tower of Fanatics to bring Strago back as he had joined the Cult of Kefka believing Relm had died after the incident on the Floating Continent.
“You!! You old fool!!! You’re still standing?!”
She eventually gets him to rejoin the party telling him that everyone, including herself, are glad to see him again. The two journey back to Thamasa where one of Strago’s old friends, Gungho, is seemingly injured because of a fight with Hidon. Hidon had been a monster Gungho, and Strago had fought in their youth, and now seeing his friend hurt because of the monster, Strago journeys off to kill it. He succeeds (with some help) and makes the journey back to Thamasa to share the good news. Relm, however, could see through Gungho’s fake injuries and thanks him for helping her grandpa get his motivation back while also commenting that only Strago would believe Gungho was really hurt when she knew otherwise.
After that, she and Strago go with their friends to Kefka’s Tower to defeat Kefka and restore peace to the worlds. Once Kefka is defeated, and as they’re escaping his crumbling tower (of the world’s garbage), if the player recruited Strago again, she helps him escape the tower and mentions how she’d really like to paint his portrait on canvas, of course! If the player did not recruit Strago, then Relm is stuck on a conveyor belt while Celes, Edgar, and Setzer all pass her. They return to help her after she threatens to paint their portraits.
After Kefka’s fall, Relm went back to Owzer’s to finish his prized painting, and she went on to paint pictures of all of her and her friends’ adventures. She spends her time in Thamasa or helping Owzer out every now and then - and also because she likes talking to him about art, too!
For Relm’s connection with Shadow, please go here.
  verses
Final Fantasy VI - Pre, post, during. I will automatically default to post-game after Kefka has been defeated. Will also write Relm during World of Ruin if Shadow dies on the Floating Continent and Interceptor protects Relm after his death.
Dissidia Opera Omnia - A champion summoned by Materia to help seal the torisons and solve the mystery on why they are there in the first place along with the appearance of the monsters.
King of Mechamania - Verse set exclusively in my ff6 au fic. Closed to friends only.
Final Fantasy VI AU - basically shadow stops kefka from blowing up the world during the world of balance, moves the triad back to their proper spots, kefka doesn't like and attacks him from behind before dying. shadow (and interceptor) is able to escape to thamasa where he dies at helena's grave (😭 fabullisnova) . relm hears interceptor's boofs before the party and she is the first to discover her dying father shadow.
  headcanons
Originally the devs wanted Relm to paint scenes of the all the adventures everybody had been on, as well as painting one of Yoshitaka Amano’s artwork in the game. However, they couldn’t fulfill this because of the hardware limitations of the Super Nintendo. After discovering this, I like to think that Relm DID do just that. She painted various scenes from the game based on what her friends told her or if she’d been there herself. Maybe even one of the Amano artworks is like one of these pieces with Terra.
Relm doesn’t like Chocobos. She thinks they’re weird, and they never seem to listen to her either when she’s riding one.
Relm is very perceptive for her age. She notices things that others probably wouldn’t think she’d notice otherwise. An example of this would be the underlying “romantic” tones in Celes and Locke’s conversation in Thamasa after everyone believes they have achieved peace with the Empire.
Her mother, Helena, had been a very bright individual. She always looked towards the future and never dwelled on the sadness of the past. Relm’s mother had been friendly with everyone in the village of Thamasa - her family was especially good friends with Strago Magus (the one who adopts Relm later on.) She liked to create, and to inspire those around her and while she wasn’t a painter like her daughter, she made do with putting her talents to use in other means, and that was making clothing and various odds-and-ends for the village people. Sometime Helena met Clyde Arrowny and they fell in love, wed, and had a daughter together. Their daughter was named Relm and even from a young age, she showed an remarkable prowess for painting. Relm’s mother lived until Relm was around the age of four and five (~4.5 years) when she had suddenly been taken by a kind of sickness. No one knew what it was, and not even magic and the village doctor had been able to save her. That day was when Relm’s entire life would change forever. It was the day her father and their dog left. Her mother had died, and it was also the day Strago had taken her in. The months that followed after that day were spent in much anguish and sometimes rage for Relm. One of the only things that was her outlet for her pain, besides crying in Strago’s lap many days and nights or in her bed, was her painting. Often times she’d paint non-magical portraits of her mother, father, and their dog in secret so she wouldn’t forget, but overtime Relm stopped in an effort to move on from the past. It still hurt her to think about the family she’d lost, and never get back, but she had Strago now. She had the village children and she had herself, and… she wanted to get stronger. Not only for herself, but for the family she had lost. It’d make them happy. …Right?
She interchangeably calls Strago, Gramps and Grandpa.
Originally Strago was going to have a wife named Lara and because I headcanon that Strago is her adoptive grandpa, this makes Lara her adoptive grandma, too.
I just want to scribble this down so I don’t forget so you can ignore this, but a part of me also wants to believe that maybe Strago was related to Relm’s mother? which would make him her biological grandpa, but I remember reading in some official VI materials (??? need to reaffirm this) that he isn’t related to her, but I also like this, too.
Relm’s treasure is one of her mother’s handmade ribbons. Relm has an entire box full of them before her mother’s death and even now, she still likes to collect ribbons. She keeps the ones she collects separate from the ones her mother made and sometimes when she is feeling sad or lonely or just misses her mother, she keeps them close to her.
Her favourite food is fluffy pancakes with lots of maple syrup. Her father used to make them all the time for when she was sick or when it was her birthday or even just because. Sometimes she’d even help him make them!
Shadow’s treasure is a locket with a portrait inside. This portrait is one done by Relm before he had left her behind over his guilt and shame at losing his wife similar to how he had lost his friend, Baram. He keeps this close to him at all times and holds it close when he dies on Kefka’s tower. Sometime after Kefka’s tower falls to pieces and the people of the world begin to clean up the rumble and use it to restore their towns and make new things, Relm finds the locket and while the outside of the locket is damaged, the portrait on the inside is as beautiful and clean as the day she made it. At first she’s confused as to how it gotten there, but then she remembers that she had made it for her father’s birthday one year and begins to wonder why it would have been in Kefka’s tower since it was just made of junk from Vector. Interceptor is with her when she finds then and his sad, lonely whine makes her think of how Shadow had never returned with them after the last battle. She thinks of how familiar he had felt to her and how kind he was to her when he wasn’t so much to anyone else besides Interceptor. She thinks of how he had reminded her of her father and then the tears begin to fall as she begins to wonder if Shadow had really been her father and now she truly was an orphan with no parents and only Strago for her caretaker and who knows how long he’ll last before she’s all alone again.
Strago likes to make monster costumes for himself and for Relm. Her small wardrobe of costumes includes a tabby cat suit, a moogle suit, a chocobo suit, a behemoth suit and a nutkin suit.
Her mother would make her clothes for her before she passed away, but one day Relm found her mother’s sketchbook full of designs for her daughter and while she thought they would never come to fruition as Relm could not sew for the life of her, one day she found Strago making the bright coloured clothes for his granddaughter and Relm was so happy.

old Diablo fans would probably hate me for saying this, but the more i play Diablo II Ressurrected more i appreciate Diablo III lol D2R just feels a little lifeless, all the maps are empty squares with some mobs, i dont find the combat very exciting at all. in contrast when i start a new game in D3 i still find it fun. but i installed reshade and some quality of life mods in D2R so i will try to keep playing it and see if gets better. the funny thing is, i actually liked playing the first Diablo.
Tumblr media
anyway, tomorrow morning the termite exterminator is going to come and then we will have to stay a couple hours out of the house and probably grab something to eat at the mall.

Mod 4 assignment: Unconditional surrender
The statue you are referring to is called “Unconditional Surrender” and it is based on an iconic photo taken in Times Square in 1945, showing a woman dressed in a white uniform being embraced and kissed by a sailor to celebrate the end of World War II. The woman, identified as Greta Friedman, was 21 at the time, and she didn’t know the sailor, who has been identified as George Mendonsa1.
The statue was created by Seward Johnson and was first installed in Sarasota, Florida in 20052. It has since been installed in other locations around the world.
The 26-foot-high, 6000-pound statue was inspired by a famous photograph taken in New York's Times Square on V-J Day in 1945 of a World War II sailor bending over to kiss a woman. Some detractors have said that kiss was done without the woman's permission.
Interestingly, the woman depicted in the statue (and the famous photo) passed away in September 2016 at the age of 92. Mischa Elliot Friedman had previously told reporters that she didn’t know the sailorand didn’t see him coming before he grabbed her and planted the famous kiss all those years ago.
This statue is beautiful! It is strategically located in downtown Sarasota and it is impossible to not see it. To not be enamored by the beauty of it. I see it as thou the times of war were bleak love was very much alive! There was nothing or no one but these two people around, despite the hustle and bustle of everything else going on around them.

Mega Man X4, Gran Turismo, a trilogia Tekken, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, e Final Fantasy VII são alguns dos títulos mais marcantes do primeiro PlayStation.
Mega Man X8, Tekken 5, Kingdom Hearts I & II, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII, XenoSaga I & II, Devil May Cry, e SoulCalibur II são alguns dos títulos interessantes desse console.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Dentre os games desse console, podemos citar o remake de Demon’s Souls, Elden Ring, Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection, Horizon: Forbidden West, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, e Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

rinelica’s wishlist
WISHES: I'm fine with any medium, do as you're the most comfortable with.
I'm a big Mystic Square fan and my favourite pairing is YukiMai, so I would love to see something featuring these two! It can be sweet or bittersweet, but nothing mean or violent please.
If you want to avoid ships, here are some of my favourite characters : Cirno, Suwako, Yuki, Mai, Remilia, Patchouli, Sanae, Alice, Shinki, Hina
If you'd rather do music, my favourite tracks (other than the popular ones) are : Tabula Rasa ~ The empty girl, Plastic Mind, Forbidden Magic, Treacherous Maiden ~ Judas Kiss, Alice in Wonderland
PET PEEVES: Oversexualisation makes me uncomfortable. Other than that, I'm not a fan of infantilized characters, like how Suwako and Eiki are in some fanon.
ABILITIES: I can do illustrations and comics! Also, I'm ok with drawing ships!
WON’T DO: The rules cover my biggest won't do (NSFW, incest, etc). Other than that, I'd like to avoid characters from games/mangas I did not start/finish yet, these characters being : Reisen II, the Watatsuki sisters, Kosuzu, Akyuu, Miyoi, Mizuchi, Rinnosuke and Yuuma.
VOLUNTARY SANTA: Yes!
POST-SCRIPTUM: Thank you mods for this event! And thank you future secret santa too!

Where to save cities in motion 2 maps on your computer update#
Ore is found in the mountains, oil in the midlands, and fertile farmland near the river flood planes and flats. Map includes two lighthouses, two rocky jetties, a man made dock/bay area, and WW2 era artillery forts(near the mouth of the Columbia River). This was unsuccessful and thus he named it Cape Disappointment. They tried to flag down passing merchant ships to give them a copy of Lewis's expedition journals(in case they died on the way back). Cape Disappointment(red lighthouse rock outcrop) is famous as the Lewis and Clark expedition's winter camp.

You can also use mod 81 Tiles (Fixed for 1.2+) for a bigger contror of the island but it's just an option. It has a boat route that goes into the lake, in the middle of the island, you get a big river giving it a good strategy for the shops. It also has a huge beach for the creation of a good tourist visit. You will also be placed a new theme that is available in the area of the necessary elements, without enlisting to me I liked to combine this theme with Realistic II - After Dark optimized you can have it from this link It was updated because it had some minor errors in elements that were not registered, those elements were eliminated for a better subscription. It is a fairly flat map with space to create a few cities, with a huge resource of everything to haver. CHIAROSCURO LUT- (NEEDS DAYLIGHT CLASSIC MOD)  ()Ī CUBEMAP REPLACER OF YOUR CHOICE. no trees stones or other vanilla stuff (sorry BonBonB - no everyone's favorite factory or the essential lighthouse) THIS IS A MAP THAT IS A CANVAS FOR A DETAIL ORIENTED PLAYER! SOURCE OF INSPIRATION: CATHLAMET AREA, WA. ^^ I used those to edit some nodes and create some smooth transitions and slopes, i don't know if you actually need them or not. Of course you'll need theme mixer 2 mod: Ultimate Eyecandy and Relight settings are shown in the screenshots.īase theme: NotSoRocky European Map Theme. There are no trees: i have a bug in the forest brush, for now it seems it fixed itself, but as the bug prevented the game from packaging i've decided not to include trees so it won't make this a broken map. RESOURCES: i used only some ore and oil for detailing purposes so i don't know how much it will help if you play "vanilla style" The rail has wide curves because it is designed to be used with the custom extra long trains from the workshop and to avoid train clutter. There's one rail line with a branch towards the start square. There is only one custom bridge: McCullough Memorial Bridge . The roads in the start square are all vanilla. ROAD NETWORK: it has 2 national roads, one vanilla rural road with covered bridge and it uses the 1+1 road bridge from industries. There are portions of large rivers where they meet the sea/ocean that are wide enough and deep enough to allow maritime ships to navigate, those are called: maritime sector of a river. To keep it realistic there is only one airplane path positioned in a way in which you can build your airport in the flat areas without the path going close or crossing the taxiway or runway so you won't get the usual bugs like circling planes, etc.Īgain, to keep it realistic there is only one ship path with a branch towards the starting square. It's a map for a detailer, i use only 2 national roads and one rail line. This map's infrastructure is not for a massive 1 million people build. This is the map of Cathlamet area, made using a terrain height file.

lanyards being included with the more recent
There is PWM but its some of the fastest Ive seen in a budget light. My solution was a small solder blob on the positive end. You could always use it to smuggle arms or even mexicans across the border. Lots of clean threads on the pill. This should provide plenty of water resistance and a small bit of shock protection if the light is dropped on it&39;s tail. The pill is 32mm tall. And the most important is its extremely great throw especially with only 635 lumens, lot of threads on pill for decent heat conduction to head. Beamshots Here are some white wall beamshots, 1m distance, high, med, and low. The anodize is good, probably HA-II quality, with no dings or scratches when received. Purely cosmetic but it would be nice if the tooling marks were not there. Conclusions The Small Sun ZY-T08 LED Flashlight is a very nice light. The inside of the pill is cavernous and can accomodate just about any driver you should want to use should the need arise to replace the stock driver.
The pill lip actually prevents this from occurring. Also, there may be a shorting risk with wide flat tops because of the close proximity of the ground outer contact ring. It feels very durable. The lens and lens gasket (not an o-ring) fit snugly in the magnetic latching relay hit with zero rattle. The Battery Tube On the ends, you can see the battery tubes and the contact plate. Relic Recommended, especially for flashlight modders.5mm deep and 27. The Small Sun ZY-T08 Appearance The machining and finish on body and head are excellent. Lots of threads for lots of surface contact with the head to help wick away the heat produced by the emitter. The emitter is centered with a nylon centering bushing. The well designed reflector surrounding the perfectly centered emitter.? Deep fins and plenty of space for air to flow through them. The hot spot is well defined with a typical XM-L corona. Emitter mounting area is solid and there is thermal grease between it and the MCPCB. Stainless Steel Base For The Switch Components A look at the stainless steel base for the switch components.
All of these features makes it a helpful tool for lighting uses. The gadget comes with lanyard. Another shot at the fins surrounding the pill. The switch feel is very nice - light yet firm. For the price, the performance, and for overall build quality I have to give this light a strong recommendation. They appear a bit dim on here, however they should be good enough for a relative comparison. The emitter star was floating with a small amount of thermal compound. Nice switch feel and thick, supple switch cap. 4 allen head screws hold the tail piece securely to the body. The Small Sun ZY-T08 has been listed on China Electronics online store Aurabuy for a while, it has been one of the most popular LED Flashlights after it publised.it&39;s huge. Much better than most budget offerings. there are very minor thin rings at about 1/3 diameter, only noticeable on a white wall. No sharp edges and the large smooth surfaces show the smallest amount of machining if you look very close.. I has a nice finish (except for tailcap), decent output (better after a resistor mod, see first comment below), handles well, and the price was right.? The wide rim at the base sits against a matching recessed area in the base of the head. Fortunately all were in place and intact and no spares were needed.
Clean anodized threads for the lightly crenelated aluminum bezel. Excellent reflector, even though it is resin based. The switch boot is thick but supple. What It Is In The Head This is a very nice head design.88mm across. Clean, nearly square threads for the pill at the base of the head. It&39;s good to see better lanyards being included with the more recent torch offerings. Machining on the curved area of the body are nice. Plenty of fins mean lots of surface area to help wick away the heat produced by the XM-L emitter.Huge but very lightweight pill. The battery tube is deep and the springs have a lot of travel. The lanyard is not bad. No spare o-rings. With the 4 screws removed you can see there is a soft rubber gasket between the tail cap and the body. Protected and unprotected cells should work fine. Due to a small lip on the pill, flat top cells will not work. Nice format, comfortable to hold, secure grip.. The pill is removed through the driver end. You can see all the machining marks. With only one o-ring in its design it probably wouldnt have been needed.? The switch cap is held tightly by a thick, threaded ring. You can see the grip ridges along the curved sides on the body.

Hey, sorry to ask this, but a few days ago I saw a post/discussion about the history of original work on ao3 (i.e. how and when it was allowed). I thought it was in my likes, but it's not, and I thought you had reblogged it recently, but I didn't find it. I was wondering if you have seen this discussion around? Or where I can find more about it? This specific post talked abt how who defended original work on ao3 were not the BNFs, if that helps.
That was me running my mouth in the reblogs of something or other. It’s just the one comment.
But what’s that you say? Some tl;dr about a pet topic? Don’t mind if I do! ;) (To be honest, most of this debate happened years ago, and a lot of the long meta was by me back then too, so…)
Okay, so, the situation with Original Works is actually super interesting and a microcosm of early years OTW wank.
This is going to be even more tl;dr than my usual. To try to summarize very briefly:
There were two big cultural factions. One thought “original” was the opposite of “fan”. That one was in charge of OTW. It was hard to get voices from the other side into the debate because they already felt excluded from OTW.
This divide broke down more or less into Ye Olde Slash Fandom on the “it’s the opposite” side and anime fandom on the “WTF?” side. Americans on one side and a lot of non-US, non-English language fandom on the other.
I. Media Fandom, Anime Fandom, and Early OTW
I went to that first fundraising party that astolat threw in New York City back in… god… 2007? 2008? I wasn’t on the Board or any official position until the committees got started later, but I was around right from the very beginning.
Whether you’re looking at volunteers or at people who commented on astolat’s original post, there were always a variety of fans from a variety of fannish backgrounds. People aren’t absolutely in one camp or another, and fannish interests change over time. If you go dig through Dreamwidth posts to find who was actually participating in this debate at the time, half of them are probably in the other camp now.
If you think like that sounds like a preamble to me making a bunch of offensively sweeping generalizations and divvying fans up into little groups, you’d be right! Haha.
I.a. Ye Olde Media Fandom
There are a lot of camps of people who like fanfic. One of the biggest divisions has been Ye Olde Media Fandom vs. anime fandom. Astolat’s social circle–my LJ social circle–was filled with people with decades of fannish experience and a deep knowledge of the Media Fandom side of things.
Those fandom history treatises that start with K/S zines in Star Trek fandom in the 70s and move on through the mainstream buddy cops like Starsky & Hutch to the more niche, sff buddy cops like Fraser and Ray or Jim and Blair are talking about Media Fandom. I try to always capitalize it because the name is lulzy and bizarre to me unless it’s a proper noun for a specific historical thing. It was coined as a rude term for “mass media” fandom aka dumb people who like, ughhhh, Star Trek, ughhh, instead of books. This is a very ancient slapfight from the type of fandom you find at Worldcon, often called “SF fandom” or plain “fandom”.
(Yes, this leads to mega confusion on the part of some old dudes when they find Fanlore and fail to understand that “fandom” there refers to what these people would call “Media Fandom”. They think only they get the unmarked form. But I digress…)
Media Fandom is a specific flavor of fandom. It’s where the slash zines were. It’s where the fans of live action US TV shows were. It’s the history that acafans have laid out well and that tends to get used to defend the idea of a female subculture writing transgressive and transformative fanfic. On the video side, Media Fandom is where Kandy Fong invented vidding by making Star Trek slideshows.
(Kandy’s still around, BTW. She’s usually at Escapade in L.A. Ask her to tell you about the dancing penises sketch in person. She’s hilarious.)
Astolat and friends had been going to slash cons for years. They founded Vividcon. And Yuletide. That meant that when astolat said “Hey kids, let’s put on a show!” we all jumped to help. This is a lady who gets things done.
From a Worldcon perspective, or even from an older Media Fandom perspective, this group was comparatively young, hip, and welcoming. Their fandom interests were comparatively broad. Just look at Yuletide!
In fact, yes, let us look at Yuletide… [ominous music]
I.b. Yuletide sucks at anime
From the very first year (2003), Yuletide mods have asked for help with anime fandoms, been confused about anime fandoms, or made bad judgment calls about anime fandoms. They’ve fucked up on Superhero comics and plenty of other things over the years, but anime has been the most consistent (well, and JRPGs, but there’s so much overlap in those fic fandoms).
There was already bad feeling about this. There were years of bad feeling about this.
I.c. Where are the historians?
Academic study of fanficcy things pretty much got started with Textual Poachers and Enterprising Women. Other acafans who are well known to LJ and later Tumblr are people like Francesca Coppa who wrote a very nice summary of the history of Media Fandom. These are not the only academics who exist, these academics themselves have written about many other things, and by now, OTW’s own journal has covered a lot of other territory, but to this day I see complaints on Tumblr that “acafans” only care about K/S and oldschool slash fandom.
There were years of bad feeling about this as well.
I.d. What kind of fan was I?
Now, by the time OTW got started, I’d moseyed over to not only a lot of live action US TV but a lot of old-as-fuck US TV that is squarely in the Media Fandom camp. But once upon a time, I was a weeaboo hanging out with my weeaboo friends in college. I learned Japanese (sort of). I moved to Japan. Livin’ the weeaboo dream!
More importantly, I used to be a member of a lot of anime mailing lists back in the Yahoo Groups days. I didn’t realize what a cultural gap that would cause until the original works issue came up on AO3.
I.e. Anime Fandom, German-language Fandom, Original M/M
Once upon a time–namely in that Yahoo Groups era–there was an archive called Boys in Chains. It was where you found The Good Stuff™. Heavy kink and power exchange galore! It was extremely well known in the parts of fandom I was in, even if you weren’t on the associated mailing list. It contained lots of fic, but it also had lots of original work.
Around that same era, I was on a critique list called Crimson Ink, which was mixed fic and original. The “original slash” and “original yaoi” crowds mixed freely and were in fanfic spaces. Remember, this is like 2003. You’re never going to get your gay fantasy novel published in English in the US. A couple of fangirl presses started around then, but they died an ignominious death after their first print run.
Fanfiction.net used to allow original work before it spun that off into FictionPress. We forget this today, but if you were an early FFN person, the separation wasn’t so great either.
Meanwhile, German-language fandom was hanging out on sites like Animexx.de, a big-ass fic archive that prominently mentions also including original work. I have the impression that Spanish-language fandom was similar too.
Shousetsu Bang*Bang was founded in 2005. It was a webzine for original m/m, but it was entirely populated by fanfic fandom types.
In all of those kinds of spaces, there was a lot of “original” work that was kind of slash or BL-ish and seen as fannish if it was posted in the fannish space. These weren’t anime-only spaces. They were multifandom spaces where it was seen as obvious and normal that a couple of huge fandoms like Harry Potter would dominate but that everything else big would naturally be anime.
While fans from every background are everywhere, I found that the concentration of EFL fans living in Continental Europe, South America, and Asia was much higher in this kind of space, even the exclusively English language part of it, than in my US TV fandoms.
II. AO3 Early Adopters
AO3 went into closed beta in 2009. In 2010, it was open to the general public (albeit with the invitation queue it still has). But not everyone was interested yet. Just like fandom is loath to leave the dying, shambling mess of Tumblr, fandom was loath to leave dwindling LJ/DW circles or was happy enough on Fanfiction.net. I used to see a lot of posts like “Why are you guys trying to STEAL fanfic from the original! FFN is enough!”
I literally could not give away the invitations I had. No one wanted them.
So who was on AO3? Obviously enough, it was all of us who built it and our friends. So that means a bunch of oldschool Livejournal slashers coming from fandoms like Due South or Stargate Atlantis.
The queue was open. Anyone could make an account. Everyone was welcome. In theory…
But more and more, there started to be these posts about how “AO3 Hates Anime Fandom” and “FFN is for anime. AO3 is for Western fandoms.” and “If you guys actually wanted anime fandom on there, you’d invite us better and make us more welcome.”
At the time, I found these posts obnoxious. People aren’t purely in one sort of fandom or the other. No one was stopping anime fandom from making accounts. No one was banning anime fandom. If there wasn’t much from old fandoms, that was because old fandoms seldom move.
Things began to change. Trolls on FFN forced the Twilight porn writers out, creating enough fuss and brouhaha to mobilize people who would rather have stayed put. AO3 got big enough that randos found it by accident. Original work started to pop up, posted by people who’d never looked at the rules and had no idea it was not allowed.
III. History of AO3’s Policy
I had argued for allowing “original work” during the initial discussions about the ToS. On one side of this issue was me. On the other, everyone else on the committee.
I was overruled.
Open Door started importing old archives to save them. Boys in Chains was hugely important to fandom history from my point of view. It was slated to be imported… maybe. Except that Boys in Chains is half original. AO3 was happy to grandfather in those stories, but the final archive owner felt, quite rightly, that it would be unfair to tell half of the authors they were welcome in the new space while spitting on the other half.
I was pissed. I had been pissed since being overruled the first time. To me, the fact that it should be allowed was so blatantly obvious that it was hard to even explain why.
(To be honest, this difficulty in explaining why and the even greater difficulty in figuring out the source of that difficulty is what held the discussion back for so long. When every assumption on either side is completely opposite, it’s hard to communicate.)
I felt betrayed. It would be like if you helped build something, and everyone was suddenly like “Well, obviously, we can’t allow m/m. It’s not normal fanfic.”
So we discussed it again and, again, it was me vs. literally everyone else. And still the “AO3 is only for Western slash fandom” bitching rose in volume and more and more people complained of feeling excluded from the new fandom hub. Finally, the committee agreed to open the issue up for public comment and get some more input. I was a fool and neither wrote nor proofread the post. It went out phrasing the question as allowing “non fannish” work or something of that sort.
I was furious. The entire point of the whole debate was that I saw some original work, the original work that belongs on AO3, as inherently fannish. And now this had been presented to the AO3 audience as something completely different. Think pieces were popping up in the journals of everyone I knew about diluting AO3’s mission and how we needed to save AO3 from encroachment. Public opinion was very negative. That’s both because of how the post was phrased and because OTW die hards at the time were mostly from the same fannish background. This tidal wave of negativity meant that there was virtually no chance of changing this poisonous rule. And if the rule didn’t change, the people who wanted the rule change were never going to show up to explain why it mattered.
If you’ve been reading my tumblr, I think you can guess what happened next.
I posted a long post to my Dreamwidth. It was a masterwork of passive aggression. In it, I wrung my hands about how simply tragic it would be if AO3 had to delete all of the original work… like anthropomorfic.
Now, I think anthropomorfic counts as fanfic as much as anything else, but I also knew that it fails most rigorous “based on a canon” type definitions of fic and, more importantly, it’s a favorite Yuletide fandom of many of the people on the side that wanted to ban original work.
That’s a nice fandom of yours. It would be a pity if something happened to it.
Yup. Passive aggressive blackmail. Go me. Suddenly, there was a lot of awkward backtracking and confused running in circles in various journals. The committee agreed to table the idea for a while but not rule out the idea of allowing original works in the future. We agreed to halt all deletions of original work. If a fan posted it, the Abuse Committee (which I was also head of at the time) would not delete that work even though it was technically against the rules.
Time passed. The people on the negative side got tired. I wanted off that committee and had wanted off for ages, but I was damned if I was going to leave before ramming through this piece of policy. Grudgematch till I die! (Look, I never said I wasn’t a wanker.)
After a while, some other fans came forward with more types of “original work” as evidence that it should be allowed. These were from parts of fandom none of us on the committee knew a damn thing about.
This new evidence combined with the gradual accretion of original stuff on AO3 without the sky falling eventually led us to quietly rule Original Work a valid fandom. There was never even a big announcement post. I slipped a word to the Boys in Chains mod myself.
IV. What Were They So Afraid Of Anyway?
So why were people so resistant? Seems like a dick move, right?
Not exactly.
I mean, I was enraged and waged a one-woman war to change the rules, but the other side wasn’t nuts. The objections were usually the following:
I just don’t get why it would be allowed. It never was in my fannish spaces.
Most of our members don’t want this.
Most of the examples of things that ought to be included are m/m. We are privileging m/m if we allow it, and AO3 already has a m/m-centric reputation that can feel exclusionary to some fans.
AO3 is a young, shaky platform that can barely handle the load and content we already have. If we open to original work, we’ll be opening the floodgates. The volume of posting will be so high, it will drown out the fic we’re actually here to protect.
Protecting stuff that doesn’t need protection because it’s not an IP issue would dilute OTW’s mission.
If we allow it, idiots will try to turn AO3 into advertising space, posting only the first chapter and a link to where you can pay to read the rest.
If we add another category of text before we add fan art, that’s a slap in the face of the fan artists we are already failing.
These arguments all make perfect sense in context.
Obvously, the issue with the first two is that different fannish communities have different norms. I knew that a very large community disagreed with the then current AO3 policy, but since so few of them were around to comment, it seemed like a tiny fringe minority.
The m/m thing is… complex. M/M content with zero IP issues is at risk. It is always at risk in a way that even f/f is not (though f/f is also always at risk). Asking for m/m to be exactly equivalent to f/f or m/f in numbers, tropes, whatever is ignoring the historical realities. In our current moment of queer activism in the West, we treat all types of queerness as part of one community with one set of goals, but once you get to culture and art or even more specific activism, this forced homogenization is neither useful nor healthy.
OTOH, AO3 really did have PR problems related to the perception that we gave m/m fandom the kid glove treatment. That objection wasn’t coming from nowhere.
AO3 was shaky. It was tiny when I first brought up this argument. Hell, it wasn’t even in closed beta the first time we discussed this. Part of what made the quiet rules change possible was AO3 organically getting much bigger and OTW having to buy many more servers for unrelated reasons.
The “floodgates” thing was put to rest by tacitly allowing original work before the rules change. We had a period to study how fans actually behaved, and as I predicted, only a small amount of original work got posted. It was indeed mostly things like original BL-ish stories or original work that had been part of a mixed original/fic fest, exchange, zine, etc. Currently, the “Original Work” fandom on AO3 only has 76,348 works. That’s pretty big compared to individual fandoms but tiny compared to AO3’s current size.
The commercial argument was spurious because commercial spam had been against the rules from the very beginning. OH THE IRONY that nowadays AO3 has all these idiots trying to post the first chapter of their fanfic and then direct you to where you can buy the rest.
AO3 has plenty of fanfic of public domain works. One of the problems with gatekeeping original work is that any way you try to distinguish it (not based on a specific canon, not an IP issue, etc.) will apply to some set of obviously allowable fandoms.
As for fan art… OTW has failed fan artists. They needed protection as much as or even more than fic writers. Just look at Tumblr! If we had succeeded at making DeviantArt but allowing boners, fan art fandom could have been safe all these years. Or when Tumblr inevitably shat the bed, we could have scooped up all those people instead of them scattering to twitter and god knows where.
OTW has failed vidders too, at least in terms of preservation. I know I’m not the only one who thinks this. Other major people from like the first Board and shit have discussed this with me offline. Doing some kind of vidding project, possibly outside of OTW is on a lot of our to-do lists. But at least one of OTW’s biggest victories has been that copyright exemption. OTW has demonstrably done really positive things for vidders that other organizations and sites have not. As a vidder, I never expected to see good hosting for the actual video files, and I’m quite content.
But fan artists… yeah. That argument makes sense at least from a place of frustration.
BTW, for the love of god, if you’re a n00b to OTW stuff, please do not reblog this post excitedly telling me that hosting fan art is on OTW’s road map, so yay, good news. Someone always does that, and it’s so irritating. I haven’t been involved in OTW in years, but I used to be, and I know what is on the roadmap. The couple of you who do heavy lifting on sysadmin and coding and policy things are welcome to weigh in as usual. I know none of us like that we can’t host fan art. It’s not what we intended.
Nonetheless, I found this argument to be the perfect being the enemy of the good. If we can save more text now without losing much of anything, we should do it. The fact that we’re fucking up on the fan art front is not a reason to spread the misery around.
V. Is “Original” the Opposite of “Fanfic”?
Okay, so that tl;dr above is why “BNFs” were on one side and “nobodies” were on the other. BNFs from one cultural background founded OTW. BNFs from the other cultural background weren’t even aware that the debate was going on.
But what was the underlying philosophical problem in even having the conversation?
It took me a long time, but I finally worked it out: We had two completely different ways of categorizing writing, and they were so baked into how we phrased questions that everything ended up being unanswerable to the other side. Here is what I came up with:
Schema 1
Fanfic - based on someone else’s IP
Original Work - the opposite
Schema 2
Non-Fannish Work - School essays, stories you are writing to try to sell to a mainstream publisher
Fannish Work Type 1 - based on other people’s characters directly (i.e. fanfic) Type 2 - based on tropes or whatever (“original slash” and the like)
Now, in the current moment when half of Tumblr just got into Chinese webnovels and the m/m ebook industry is thriving in English, original, tropey, BL-ish work is no longer different from “things I am trying to sell”. But this is how the divide was circa 2005 on fannish websites, and it’s the divide that was driving this internal OTW debate.
VI. Let’s Summarize the Camps One More Time
So, again, the debate makes perfect sense if you understand who was involved.
On the mainstream “But that’s not fanfic? I’m confused?” side:
Big US TV fandoms in English
Fandom historians of K/S–>buddy cop slash–>SGA, etc.
Americans
On the other side:
Anime fandom
“Original slash” fandom that had already been chased off of everywhere
People upset that AO3 wasn’t farther on translating the interface and supporting non-English language fandom.
People upset about US-centrism in fandom
Yes, I am very white, very American, and by now very into old buddy cop shows, but this was basically how the breakdown worked. It meant that something that looked like a minor quibble to one side was really, really not.
