hi! how can I know if I just have low libido or if it’s low sexual attraction? is it sexual attraction if u like the thought of doing something with a specific person? yet constantly feel numb? like what’s the line..? and as for aro how do u know if ur aro or just an allo that’s not that interested in romance and doesn’t get crushes easily (apart from one person)

Heya!

Sexual attraction is largely what you said, but more specifically the desire to perform sexual acts with that person, not just liking the thought.

Libido is your sex drive. You can have this even when it's not directed at someone, and a good portion of it is biological. This is often why people who may not experience sexual attraction still perform sexual acts like masturbation or watching pornography.

It can be hard to distinguish the two, but it's okay if you can't. Asexuality and Libido are often linked, and you can absolutely identify as ace even without figuring it out. If in time you do and decide that you don't identify as ace anymore, that's more than okay.

If you want to distinguish them, you might try to isolate the two. Spend a while without any sexual input, media, etc. If you find you want sexual things still, that's libido. If you find you don't, then you probably have lower libido than most. That does not mean you're not ace. Often, low libido can lead to lack of sexual attraction.

I think you may want to look into some asexual and aromantic micro-labels. Most allo people don't have these kinds of questions. If it's this hard for you to identify whether or not you have sexual attraction or romantic attraction, then you're probably on the aroace spectrum.

People who don't experience crushes or have desire for romance at all most often fall on the aro spectrum somewhere too. Perhaps somewhere around demiromantic with a neutral or unfavorable lean towards romance. I would most definitely look into the aromantic spectrum, and see if you can find something that suits you.

my aro spec experience is not liking the words “queer platonic relationship” because i feel like it’s a case of humanity trying to put a labeless experience in a label, and thus, a closed box.. but finding nobody in any of my circles that understands how i feel :<

i just feel like what everyone describes a qpr as is so varied, that it’s inherently like. not something that should be labeled. it’s something so complex that trying to put a label to it suggests it can be made easily consumable to allos/allocishets

alas if i see takes like this it’s always treated negatively or be like “well qpr doesn’t have a set definition so it still counts lol! :)” as if that. wasn’t what i was getting at. urrggghhhhh
