It's Time! Welcome to TodoIzuOcha Week 2024!

After some planning behind the scenes (and Mod Cal dealing with carpal tunnel), we've finally set everything up for this year's TodoIzuOcha Week! It will take place from May 13th to May 19th to ensure that everyone has enough time to create and celebrate!

Our rule post will be coming out in the next few days. But as a refresher, make sure to properly tag for any blood or gore, try to keep things sfw, and tag your manga spoilers if there are any! Remember to use the tag #todoizuochaweek2024 in the first few tags of your post and tag us at @todoizuocha-week so that we don't miss your creations! Please try to include in the description what prompt(s) you're using!

Onto the prompts! Like last year, there are two AU options and two concept/idea options! Feel free to use as many or as few prompts as you want; they're not required! They're simply guides to help you get started!

You haven’t posted in a few days, is everything okay?

first of all, i want to thank you so much for the concern!!! i think we… forgot to post about this? that’s probably my fault because i think i meant to and then Got Busy.

but we are all doing well!! we decided to take a one week break and wait for the round one polls to finish up before posting round two. additionally, one of our mods left the team due to scheduling conflicts, so we wanted to give mod m some time to finish up the graphics.

on that topic—i’d like to give a massive thank you to mod m for helping run this event so far!!! she’s the one who’s been doing the graphics, as well as creating the draft polls for us to edit onto. she also wrote a vast majority of the bios, and helped put in the initial process of cataloging the submitted pieces.

your regularly scheduled polls should be returning very soon! we’ve just unfortunately gotten busy :(

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE

The 12th perigee ball theme poll is over votes are tallied, and we have our (admittedly out of left field yet bizarrely popular) theme of 2023!

This year, we will be doing a combination of SOGNO DELL'ARLECCHINO and BLOOD AND CANDY!

You did it. You fucking did it you crazy bastards, we got an even tie between them both and we will listen and blenderize them up into an absurd abomination that will leave us laughing until the last drop.

After this tournament ends, will there be a second season of it? Or will you run a new tournament? Or is it more of a one and done deal?

We got a question like this that we answered back on August 5th.

I do think the answer might have changed a little bit since then; Mod M has had to mostly drop out of helping due to other commitments, and Mod Salix is getting super burnt out from trying to keep track of everything AND juggle real life, so neither of us could really help with a second one.

if we were to run another one (which is unlikely, but there is a possibility), it would be much smaller than this bracket. the thing is, this poll has been massive. it's been long. it's still going. things are in the air, so what i can tell you is that there's a very high chance it's not happening again. there's a lot of hypotheticals that i'm not going to get into here, but suffice to say if there is another one that it'll be smaller than this bracket is.

Mod Cal would also like to say something about this bracket as a whole, since we've been getting (and hoarding) a lot of asks thanking us for hosting this tournament;

this bracket has been astounding to see all the people being introduced to pieces of art they've never seen before in their lives. we read all the notes, and there have been so many of people saying that they'll never be the same again, or how they rushed to save a piece of art to their phone, or people sharing just how much a single piece of art can change a life.

i think that, in a way, this bracket is almost a form of art itself. it's a public piece, contributed by hundreds of different online users. it's a collage of our experiences and our joy and our grief and our anger and all those emotions you could never define. this bracket was made to push the boundaries of art, and i'm glad that some people have felt that they now have a new perspective on it.

in summary, this blog will be left up as an archive. it's unlikely that another bracket will be created, but if it is, it will be made with another blog, not using this same sideblog.

i think the plan after this tournament finishes is to have a queue set up where we reblog art onto here for people to be able to see, since we have amassed a fairly large following from the polls and also it's a nice touch to round it all off.

A Quick Reminder For All Ball Attendees This Year

I did want to make it very clear to everyone who is participating or will participate in the ball that

Campaigning, organizing, begging or otherwise attempting to buy or trade for King, Queen, or Couturier votes are not allowed.

I wanted to make this announcement because while we allowed the community to organize via multiple public posts to make a concentrated effort across the dashboard to force a tie for a dual vampire/clown theme during the theme voting process, we will not allow a similar scenario to happen for the crowning process itself.

Showing off your troll's outfits and nomination, encouraging people to vote in a general manner not for a specific nominee, or supporting your friends are all fine! Any attempts to trade things like artwork, spamming users to vote for a specific character, or making posts to dissuade users from voting for other characters ruin the spirit of the ball and are not allowed. Don't make us drag out our unused protocols for that sort of scenario. I would like to keep them in the box where we store them.
