i was looking up the comic pages of the titans tower attack where jason rips off his shirt to reveal the robin costime underneath, and i didnt manage to read it in full but something i found interesting is that tim says, "you're the red hood. you've been cleaning up gotham the easy way."

i dont have the full context for it, but i love that at least standing alone, there's an implication there that tim thinks killing criminals is effective, and he just doesnt find it challenging enough haha. like, there's a lot of other moral judgements you can make about jason's choice to murder, but instead of any of that, tim just decides to point out it's the easy way. 😂

(okay maybe tim said it in an effort to goad by saying jason's taking the easy way out, but i think it's funnier if tim said it 'cuz he doesnt actually disagree with killing and just doesnt do it cuz he follows the bat lol.)

Why am I seeing people actually call this episode's animation bad. What

i think one of the nate eliot things is that they're both fucking unhinged. there's something feral about them, something that's capable of disregarding basic humanity. we know eliot is a killer, and a ruthless one at that, and he's not afraid of being in those kind of situations, which in a way dehumanises him, this inability to feel fear.

and nate. nate!! that man is terrifying! get in line, or get out of the way is his motto, and he applies it to absolutely everyone. especially in the earlier seasons, and yes he applies it to sophie (who is unarguably closest to him) too! for maggie he decides that she will get out of the way (because falling in line with him would mean that she would break the law, and she's a Good Citizen, not a Criminal or a Thief, and it never occurs to him that it's not a black and white situation... or that his ex wife matches his crazy).

and if you do neither, he ends you. simple as that. he doesn't kill you and he doesn't physically harm you, but what he does is arguably worse, because he ruins your life in ways eliot can't.

and they very quickly recognise each other as apex predators and both allow the other to use that for their crusade. eliot is a weapon that needs pointing in the right direction, that's what he's getting out of their relationship; and nate needs someone who'll have a go at him and who he can't actually hurt. because nate ruins lives by ruining their reputations, and what reputation does eliot have to lose? and conversely, not even nate ford could convince the world that eliot spencer isn't really fucking dangerous

(sidenote: that's why making moreau watch eliot spencer decrying the evil presidential dog fights is so fucking funny. there's an excellent post about it somewhere on here)

eliot thinks he's further along the path of being something inhuman, and he also thinks nate can still be saved from becoming that too. being an insurance cop, a "good guy" (btw a very laughable concept about how working in insurance makes you a good person. like. if that were the case then how come the same "good guys" let nate's son die so they didn't have to pay for his treatment?), was what kept nate on the straight and narrow before, and now giving him something to do might stop him from going completely off the rails ("how long until you fall apart again? a guy like you can't be out of the game, that's why you were a wreck. you need the chase" is what eliot's saying to convince nate to stay with the team).

unfortunately running with criminals doesn't fix nate the way eliot would like for it to, because the guy suddenly stops recognising any and all societal rules and overcompensates by trying to keep full control of everything all the time. he is so unreasonably mad at sophie for trying to help her friend teresa who got screwed over by marcone.

"she should've known what she got into, her husband working with the mob" and cpl perry from the ep before should've known what he got into, joining the military, but for some reason he's worth helping because he didn't "choose" to become a criminal. did teresa choose to get in with the mob or did she and her husband just not have another chance?

and when the entire team agrees they want to take that job, nate throws a hissy fit. tells them all to walk if they don't like the way he runs the team.

so does leverage fix nate? maybe after five seasons. but at first it makes him worse because between "not having to abide by normal human laws anymore" and the alcohol he completely loses his restraint

and eliot gets that. eliot has been there, has completely lost any and all principles (working for moreau mostly) and is now trying to glue the pieces of himself back together into something that isn't horrible. but nate isn't there yet. nate is still violent and dangerous, and eliot is the only one on the team who isn't disgusted by it. sophie certainly is. hardison and parker are too, even if they don't say it out loud. eliot may not like it, but he gets it.

and in return, nate is the only one who knows about what happened in the big bang job. he can hold eliot back with as little as a gesture or a look and it's not a slight to eliot at all. eliot trusts nate to point him in the right direction because they both need the same thing:

to be a good man.

I loved reading the responses about my ask around Lestat being worried about mobs. I hadn’t considered that they’d change the story to have him having experienced it while mortal. That makes sense, and agree it seems likely.

I think I was picking up on a real fear. Which, given he’s fairly brash, I felt meant he’d experienced it directly because elsewhere that doesn’t entirely seem his vibe. But now I think about it, he’s also the one that is very cautious about cleaning up after feeds. So to an extent it might also be another casualty of Lestat being somewhat misrepresented: in reality he is a thoughtful and careful and caring person. But obviously there’s reasons why he’s not being presented as such: so the way he was so obviously terrified for his family did feel a bit off in terms of his demeanour elsewhere. But that’s another thing we’ll see change going forward.

I mean, the representation of his paranoia in 1x07 was deliberate. It was meant to show Lestat as this overbearing aggressor, as the "father" disappointed in the "children", it was meant to give us the impression that killing him... was indeed inevitable.

That is what Louis tries to drive home at the end of 1x06 after all. That is why he repeats it.

But the paranoia wasn't because of Claudia. Lestat might have been angry and unsettled bc of her plans, but he wasn't paranoid because of her. As said before... he listened in on all mortals around them. Knew immediately when someone came to their home (and, I mean, Rue Royale is right in the middle of the city?!?).

So, it was a deliberate (mis)representation.

Which, btw, aligns with what Jacob Anderson said re DreamStat a while back (source):

mob Dickie Jaydick AU anyone?

mob Dick is a thing we've seen in canon before and it will not leave my mind so y'all get to deal with ramblings about it. :) (Crutches and also a timeline where he never met Bruce.)

brainstormed this in the bottom Dick server, but here's me trying to summarize it.

general premise: no capes AU where once Dick escaped juvie he went and killed Zucco. (not quickly, he was 8, but he's a smart kid,) and then decided well police are useless, so I'll just help people myself. (very similar to how be became Robin, but like. more real world vigilante justice which is more morally questionable than fictional vigilantes.) Dick is a part of a mob at any given time because it makes doing what he was already going to do easier. which mob changes because he's not really part of the mob to be part of the mob and it's more a access to resources thing. Dick is allowed not wear a face mask/helmet because no records of him existing really exist. he was a circus kid that just ended up placed in juvie. he doesn't have records. Jason on the other hand is just a normal fucking dude. (probably a priest like that one timeline but I've never been religious so I wouldn't really know how to write it. but I could try.) also yes obviously Jason's life has not been easy-peasy or whatever but in comparison he is so very normal.

they meet at a bar or diner or something and Dick uses Jason to get some dudes of his back. probably an "I'll owe you, but I need you to kiss me right now." regardless, Dick had no intentions of actually getting Jason interested in him, but I mean. look at him.

their meeting should've ended at that, but Jason is involved now because he keeps wanting to see that pretty boy that definitely had knives and a gun on him but. pretty 🥺

also I just wanna clarify that Dick is not killing bad people to prove a point. he doesn't even necessarily see what he's doing as 100% right. the systems are corrupt and he knows it, but he also knows he is one man with 0 resources if he didn't get involved in crime. he can't change the systems as one man, but he can help people sleep at night. (kinda think of it like fanon Red Hood. except with less "I know I'm right." because Dick is not concerned about being right, he's concerned with helping people.)

which leads to a lot of conflict with cop Babs. because she doesn't agree at all with what Dick is doing, but also? he's so... gentle with victims. and he doesn't try and hurt Babs unless she tries to arrest him. he seems like an upstanding guy but also he has a kill count. and it is not a small number.

there's no past of present Dickbabs btw. they can be a little flirty at times, but Dick wouldn't date a cop and Babs thinks Dick is too self-righteous anyways.

Jason also has moral objections, (whether just personally or because of religion depends on the priest thing,) but he understands Dick on a deeper level than Babs. he's been at the bottom, he's had to steal to live, he knows. he just wishes that Dick didn't kill. didn't cross that line. it's not a deal breaker, but it is a point of tension.

Dick is basically talking to Jason sporadically at first. nothing much but some surface level conversations, but they're more than Dick usually has with people. Dick is thinking about trying to shut out Jason because he's just a guy and he's gonna get himself hurt. like. really hurt. Leslie encourages him to talk to Jason though because she's known Dick for forever and she says he needs the company. (Leslie does not agree with what Dick is doing btw, but she found him hurt when he was like 10 and became something a confidant for the boy. plus, Dick trusts her enough to bring victims to her when they need help.)

Dick still has Roy as a friend in this AU and they are close but also Roy has a government job that Dick isn't thrilled with and Roy is not thrilled with the murder. they are best friends, but they have a lot of... tension we'll call it. (Jason will have something of a friendship with Roy, but it is mostly formed from mutual concern about Dick.) also Donna is here, but I'm gonna say she does not live in Gotham so y'know. she also doesn't like murder, but Dick's her boy so it's... not fine, but it doesn't matter.

Dick and Jason end up in a friends with benefits situation because Jason assumes Dick would not be willing to commit to relationship considering everything around him and Dick assumes Jason would only want him for his body. they are both stupid. (/affectionate.)

possibly also a marriage of convenience at some point so that Jason can't testify against Dick. how Dick would even get caught in the first place? good question, have not gotten there.

anyway one last thing: Dick does not share his name like. at all. Donna knows it and maybe Roy too but generally it's either aliases or nicknames people call him. so when he tells Jason his name is Dick it is a big deal.

"see you around." "Dick." "huh?" "that's my name. Dick." "in that case, see you around, Dick." "see you, Jace."

anyway this AU will not leave my brain. I like role reversals when they're done in a specific way and this one just itches my brain.

also some quick little things: * I have no idea if Babs is a cop in any DC timeline, however the reason I chose this is so that she can still interact with Dick on some level. because while I don't like Dickbabs personally generally, she is an important character to Dick and I think her being to cop that's chasing him fits better than Gordon. * Roy used to be a government agent in mainline canon. I don't particularly love it for him, but I understand why they chose it and it is canon. I am not making him work for the government out of nowhere or just to fit into the narrative. there is a basis for it. * yes I do recognize that not everyone that is important to Dick has been included. I have not fleshed out every role in this AU and haven't decided what Kori, Wally, etc. will be. * as I mentioned in the post itself, priest Jason is canon to a specific timeline in the DC comics. you can like or not like it, but I am not pulling it out of my ass. (the flashpoint timeline which yes is supposed to be a bad timeline, but my point stands.) * "where's x member of the Batfamily?" I don't know. Tim is probably doing fine just living a normal life. Damian might not even exist. I will probably include Damian just because I love Dick parenting him, but like. I have no idea where the rest of the Batfamily is and this ain't about them. /lh * just because something is in a canon DC timeline does not mean I think it's in character or a good character choice, (looking at you cop Dickie), but I am saying that I think it's fair game for AUs. (like really anything is fair game for AUs, but you hopefully know what I mean.)

about q!slime "I love you", I just thought it was funny because q!roier NEVER responds back to q!cellbit (he only said it once and it was at their wedding) that's all, he literally got more sad because of q!spreen the other day than for his husband, I really love spiderbit but since the beginning of purgatory he's been acting really weird towards him, I just think he should appreciate him more since he does literally everything for q!roier and I don't see half the amount of retribution and oh I'm sure that if q!cellbit acted the way q!roier acts towards him, no one would like them and they would call them toxic. Clearly your understanding of these characters is lacking because Roier didn’t spend the entire last week of Purgatory obsessively protecting his husband and dying for him on several occasions just for people like you to say that he doesn’t appreciate Cellbit at all.

The thing about qRoier is that he’s always hid his emotions from everybody including the audience, and the only person who’s ever really been able to see through his Silly Guy Persona is qCellbit. Cellbit doesn’t need Roier to say “I love you” to know that he loves him because he knows that Roier expresses his love in different, more subtle ways. He spends time with Cellbit even though he doesn’t really Get enigmas the way Cellbit and even Richarlyson do, he constantly tells Cellbit that he’ll be with Cellbit no matter what. It’s why Cellbit wasn’t angry during the Egg War event, he knew that Roier would never EVER purposefully hurt him; if you watch Roier’s stream of it, you’ll see him constantly shouting for Cellbit to leave so he doesn’t have to hurt him.

During Purgatory, Roier never went out of his way to hurt Cellbit, and he felt AWFUL every time he had to. And then, once they were put on the same team, Roier spent nearly every moment he could by Cellbit’s side protecting him from mobs and from Blue Team. When Tubbo attacked in the Red Base, Roier legitimately died to protect Cellbit, and anyone who knows his character knows that he’d do it again. And again. And again!

Roier is absolutely crushed right now btw, in reference to you saying he was more upset about qSpreen dying than qCellbit. He’s always covered his grief up in jokes, it’s why most of the server and a majority of fans all believe Roier’s moved on from Bobby’s death. Again, the only one on the island who’d be able to see through this is Cellbit, but he’s. Indisposed.

The interesting thing about him grieving right now is the fact that Roier doesn’t actually seem to fully believe that Cellbit is dead. Sure, he’s saying he is, but it’s kinda more in the same way he did when he thought Richarlyson and Leo were dead. But also? He’s doing something he’s NEVER done regarding a deceased family member, and that’s changing the things they left behind. He says the castle is his now and so he can change the paintings, but he was also almost like “omg he’s gonna be so mad at this when he gets back” as he did so because he may not truly believe that Cellbit is dead, especially ooc after seeing that Richarlyson Video from the other day. Roier’s allowing himself to feel a tiny amount of hope atm, and he’s angry and he’s so SO upset. Because he loves Cellbit and he’s hurt.

By the way, the reason Cellbit’s “Te Amo” at the end of Purgatory hit so hard is because Cellbit doesn’t usually say it, either. Because he’s still lowkey super emotionally constipated, and because that just isn’t the kind of relationship he and Roier have. They both say “I love you” in different ways, and that’s just fine

Luffy is the target of multiple yakuza due to his connection to multiple high power people (ace - a meber of white beard crew. Dragon and crocodile and shanks. Along with being the grandson of a high ranking chief policeman’s (garp))

So in order to protect him, (crocodile, ace and shanks) Send a bodyguard to keep him safe. (Non of them know about the other doing this btw)

Shanks sends sniper king (usopp. Who uses his cover as a cowardly kid to hide his identity as teenager sniper)

Crocodile sends miss all Sunday (Robin, a killer assassin)

Ace asked Jinbe a powerful yakuza to keep and eye on Luffy (since Luffy lives in his territory)

Long story short. Somehow Luffy became a yakuza with former yakuza bosses (Jinbe and franky) serving under him and 2 would be assigns (Nami and chopper) as his new gang members.

Also Sanji was sent to whatch after Luffy by zeff and a favorite to garp. (And Luffy just found zoro dying on the street and decided to keep him like a stray dog)

I. Do you know how this has been festering in my brain, anon? Do you know?

Zoro is in fact Luffy's dog that's canon, Zoro decided to fuck with Mihawk (an assassin that's close with Shanks, he might be an undercover cop but Shanks doesn't mind everyone has flaws) because Mihawk was really good at Kendo back in the day and Zoro wanted to be The Best, used a real sword and got stabbed for it. He couldn't go to a hospital because he was wanted for assault on multiple police officers so Luffy took him home, threw a med kit at him and said Zoro was his now. Zoro would kill and die for this man

Nami wasn't Really an assassin, she was more like a crook, stole money, weapons, information from all the crime families to give to a budding crime family that branched away from Jimbe, because they had her sister. Luffy was a means to an end, Arlong put a price on his head three times what he was holding Nojiko for because Luffy was tied to almost everyone - and how could someone tied to every criminal in their city be anything but terrible? So she got close, she didn't mean to but she did and eventually she didn't want to hand him into Arlong because he wasn't who she thought, he helped her finish getting the money not even knowing what it was for. She tried paying Arlong, but he said money wasn't good enough, that Nami was seen fraternizing with the city's top bargaining chip and Arlong wanted him. Nami left, intent on finding another way, doubling the money she spent her life hoarding, tripling it, she would dissappear from Luffy's life because she would never stoop as low as Arlong - but then Luffy came to her. She had no choice but to hand him in because she couldn't play it off anymore, he went willingly, she got Nojiko, then Zoro and Nami teamed up to bust Luffy out, then Luffy forewent the stealth of the break out and beat the tar out of Arlong. Nami would kill and die for this man.

Luffy immediately recognized Usopp because they met as kids (back when Usopp was sure he was wimpy and useless, but Luffy just said he was cool) even if they hadn't seen eachother in a decade, and Luffy is immediately and adamantly like 'this is Usopp he's the best sniper ever we're keeping him because he's my best friend' and Nami and Zoro both look Usopp up and down like '... Sure...' because Usopp is all blubbery because Luffy hadn't even seen him do anything cool yet he was going purely off the kid that not even Usopp thought deserved the time of day, Luffy not only thought that kid was worth it, he had so much faith in that kid that he's sure the man he's seeing is the man that kid said he would be. Usopp would kill and die for this man.

Sanji thought Luffy was going to be a spoiled brat - and he definitely is. He also saved Nami and Zoro without a thought because they were his and Sanji isn't going to lie and say Luffy calling him his as well doesn't hit Sanji pretty hard. Sanji would kill and die for this man.

Chopper is Kureha's assistant - his parents were mostly absent, and pretty ableist (he's autistic and has chronic pain with his spine - part of why he's kinda tiny, also why he walks with a cane) and Hiriluk took him in for a while before he got sick, then Kureha took him in but only if he worked for her (he was happy for it, Kureha's a doctor - well she had her license revoked but that doesn't stop patients from crawling to her door from every crime family because she's neutral and an amazing doctor) he makes friends with Luffy pretty quickly because Luffy thought it was metal as hell that Chopper was a doctor at 14 (well he said 8 but Chopper loudly corrected him and Luffy said that was still super cool). Luffy also beat the absolute shitfuck out of a cop that was interrogating Chopper by shittalking Hiriluk (Walpol recognized Chopper) And Chopper? Chopper would kill and die for this man.

Robin got close to the crew pretty easily. She was surprised, especially since she knew who Usopp and Sanji were, but she wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. It was fun hanging around with them a while, watching these kids kill themselves for eachother, pretending she was a part of it. But she had a price on her head, and staying stagnant long enough made the wrong people notice. She tried to act like she betrayed her friends, but Luffy didn't listen, started causing havoc, getting hurt for it, getting the whole group hurt for it, and Robin tried to tell him she wasn't worth it but he just told her to say she wanted to live, and she did, so he made it so. Robin would kill and die for this man.

HERE'S THE OUTLINE ABOUT THIS BRAINWORM

i haven't rly thought of a name for my OC so i'm just gonna use the placeholder name jean for now [after Jean Vic. don't @ me on this]. he might not even end up french tho we'll see…… anyway he was a sailor (don't ask me for further details, it's blurry. it's Real blurry) and he just got back from a voyage but he was discharged from the navy.

what happened during the voyage was he got into a relationship with a higher ranking officer and they were close but was pursuing their relationship knowing that when they get to land they won't be able to continue it (not if the officer wanted to stay in his social circles) buuut it was kind of an open secret on the ship. then there was an Accident, in which the higher ranking officer died (yes i'm going down the dead lover cliche pathway--shhh it's for the plot later). so when the higher ups were looking into the death, they found out about their relationship, which is why the discharge from the navy [[listen. i think at this point france has decriminalized homosexuality but i have no clue what it's like in the navy. so i'm assuming it's the don't ask don't tell thing. so don't @ me on this. or do, i would Love to know if anyone knows]]

so heartbroken and out of a job jean found a job vacancy of being a stagehand at the opera house. his job would be way down below the stage or way up above stage, and the job requirements reminds him of finding his way on a ship, so he's doing just fine with this. he does his job well enough, keeps his head down, tries to be friendly when he can.

after a while of doing bits and pieces here and there and he's established himself, the new chief stagehand gives him the main job of maintaining the area on the mezzanine floor where joseph buquet was killed (i'm smooshing leroux canon and alw canon together here btw. canon is toy blocks for me to pick and choose) since a lot of stagehands avoid that place like a plague. it's not out of malice, it's just that they all realize that jean doesn't rly believe in superstitions or ghosts so they're all like why not? he's knows about the stories but since he doesn't believe in ghosts (and thinks that anything about phantom as an actual dude is an exaggeration of events to attract patrons) he's like eh, alright.

all this happens while jean suspects that he's definitely traumatized by the events that happened during his voyage, obviously. he knows of stories of what happens to people who's traumatized enough. at this point in time he's given in to talking out loud to his dead lover when he's alone, so this is how one day erik heard him through that trapdoor into his home (/torture chamber). when erik tries to scare him off by speaking to him in a disembodied voice, jean Naturally thought that his trauma has given him auditory hallucinations. he at first breaks down about this because he thought he was doing better mentally, but this is a sure sign he isn't doing that great actually.

erik, absolutely confused about this reaction, decides to show himself physically after some time, just to prove to jean that he's not Actually having auditory hallucinations. but jean first mistook him for a lost patron, and is like sir u can't be here without supervision?? and jean's worried he'd lose his job if someone catches a patron wandering down here with only jean watching him bc he sure as hell ain't qualified to give patrons a tour below stage. but erik would mysteriously disappear any time anyone comes close to them. cue a whole bunch of meetings like this bc erik's lonely and this man new to the opera thinks he's a patron and treats him like a normal man and he's been starved of company ever since christine left and the mob hunted him done and he stopped bothering the opera

so they get closer. jean's half worried that erik's a hallucination, since he disappears a lot and is never seen by anybody else but jean, but he seems so real……

they get to a point where erik tells jean of christine and they bond over having lost someone they loved. erik speaks longingly of his dreams of being married and having a wife to go on sunday walks with

at this time jean is a little (a Lot) in love with him and gets his heart shattered into pieces bc god damn it he wants a wife Of Course he'd want a Wife...........

and then somehow erik finds out that jean is in love with Someone and he asks about it (somehow feeling something like Rage and Something Else because jean? in love? WHO WOULD CAPTURE THIS MAN'S ATTENTION? WHO DARES? WHO DESERVES IT?) and jean is like its of no matter (because he thinks erik wouldn't reciprocate. he's not the exactly right gender)

then jean spends a long time thinking it over and realizes that even if erik doesn't return his feelings, erik seems like someone who would benefit from being told that in this world Someone does loves him, even if he [erik] doesn't love jean back. so he tells him and it takes a while to convince erik of it but then erik remembers that jean said his love for erik is "no matter" and goes batshit about it bc does this mean he doesn't matter to jean????

and jean tells erik that it does matter. it matters to him a lot. erik matters to him a lot. but he can't give erik what he wants, their relationship would not exactly be an open one. it would be some secret thing, at the very least half hidden from society. he won't impose that on erik when he knows erik wants his little walks in the park with his lover........ erik's showing the 404 error code.

anyways idk how it goes from here but they'll get together. i swear

I’ve been thinking about it… and I realized a really good switch for Veronica and Lucy, the gardener lady.

(of course, possible spoilers until I officially reveal. Also talks about Veronica’s husband’s murder, so be wary.)

((also, many, MANY, words are below the cut. I’m a rambler.))

I don’t think I’ve talked Veronica nor Lucy’s backstories in full.

Veronica in her backstory was convicted of killing her husband. In the original, she actually did. She was not mentally stable, but still ended up going to prison. She eventually ran into Monica, who bailed her out and offered her a job at her club… place. I don’t really know what it is.

Lucy, on the other hand, was a famous gardening star who eventually got her show replaced by a different show due to low ratings. Furious, she ended up stabbing either the producer or the host of the other show (or just one of the big shots in general) and got arrested and has, recently, gotten out of prison herself. This attack was originally non fatal.

However… I think I’m going to switch their outcomes.

Since I’ve developed Veronica after her original appearance -for almost 4 months now? Wow- I don’t think it’d be in her pre-trauma character to want to kill someone. In fact, as much as she hated her husband, i don’t think she’d attempt to at all.

Now suppose Veronica’s husband, who I’ve dubbed Tim, recently got hired to work on a new job. A television job that just replaced the ever popular Lucy’s Gardens. And suppose he’s in the wrong place at the wrong time…

In this new version I have a feeling Lucy would ACTUALLY end up killing someone. But in this version as well, the people would still give Lucy support since her show got canceled.

And after the murder, the people never consider Lucy to be the suspect, since not only did she appear normal (given her facade), but the people simply couldn’t see her doing that.

But you know who they COULD suspect, though?

Veronica.

Not only did the public view her as mentally unstable, but she also had a motive, her husband’s incompetence, and knew how to use weapons do to previous training she got herself.

Another idea I had was to make the weapon of the crime the same one Veronica owns… possibly, Lucy stole it. If this does end up being the case I think another damning piece of evidence would involve them not finding Lucy’s fingerprints on the gun, as she’s a gardener and always wears gloves (which is NOT normal gardener behavior. Btw.)

A third thing to add: another bias of the group, along with Veronica’s mental health, could be her ties to her siblings line of work. Lucy was a TV gardener who everyone loved. Veronica’s sister Cathy was dabbling in an… interesting line of work. And also, she was a part of a mob family. Hence the bias.

And she ended up getting convicted wrongly for this. She went to prison. Trauma.

Of course, eventually Monica bails her out, and Veronica gets her job as a secretary (I just NOW remember the name) alongside Rodney. At a club of all places.

And I think that, due to a mishandling of her case (THANKS, BECKY), it could lead to a possible bias of hers against law officials, including the robo sleuths themselves. It’d create some interesting conflict.

But near the latter half of season one (or, more likely, the beginning of season two), Veronica learns that Lucy NEVER got convicted, and so Veronica’s trauma resurfaces. And so, without any real choice, she decides to go to the robo sleuths to get her to reevaluate the case.

Less so related to the backstory and more so related to Veronica herself, I think that her eyes could be more “drooped” than they used to be could be that, her choice or not, she took meds for her mental health. They’ve helped a little, but not by much.

Sorry for the word vomit. But I got this pretty good idea for the overarching story/series, so I really wanted to share it.

It also kinda? Ties into the recurring theme that the bigger companies in their city are being corrupted, but I think this is more of a comment of their older time period as opposed to a societal theme now (especially given some of the specific biases.)

So on the TLT Discord, after posting the sketches of Zero and Rust, Nethie and Cage both mentioned swimsuits (context: I censored Rust in his boxers because i didnt know if it was too risqué)-- Nethie saying specifically the official tour posters. To be honest, i forgot about those outfits and wanted to do something with them so here's a WIP (I put a divider cause this is long-ish):

Contexr: While taking a break from surfing, Zero found out the hard way why Tesla avoids going into water that has living creatures in it. So, Zero being Zero, decides to poke the sleeping bear (quite literally) even more and enjoys being shocked by Tesla.... Who is debating if he wants to see if he can kill Zero using a ballpoint pen.

Rust helped Armstrong out of the water and found out that Army had made a few new friends; much to Army's excitement and dismay (he can't get them off of his diver's suit)

Also debating what tats. to add to Rust, so im open to ideas! Nothing on his arms or neck-- otherwise all my old art would bother me lmfao [This also reminded me that I've gotta make a ref for his piercings and scars--and where he has grey body hair (because it's where there was old scaring!)]

Spoilers for Doc's section of the "Chosen" comic, by the way, so skip this section if you don't want spoilers lol.

After seeing Doc just staring out at the water; not in a gazing in awe or fun way either, just staring. Zelimir decided to ask if Doc wanted to, quote, "-join him". Not being specific enough with his words, Zel finds out that Doc can manipulate water*. After a few moments, Zelimir explains that he meant to join him swimming not... whatever Doc was doing. Of course, Doc knew that Zel wanted that but figured it would be fun to mess around with him (plus, Marshall may be a tad bit afraid of swimming).

Drawing Doc as the canon model is so strange-- or well mostly canon (I'll never draw him without hair unless it is for a shitpost). Like having his normal outfit is so weird to me lmao

*During the Chosen comic "Survive" , when Marshall ends up joining with Doc, the mob who'd been attempting to murder Marshall (... let's be honest here, less normal just murder and probably more like linch Marshall) was drowned to death by Doc. Meaning Doc has to have some sort of water/muck manipulation abilities--even if it just cause Doc was living there. (Here's that panel btw- this is why I love Marshall and Doc)

So yeah that's about it! I plan to add more to the drawing (hence the weird cropping) and will *probably* resketch all of these but I figured it was worth sharing lmao

I also found out that i struggle less to draw feet if i draw animal paws eith the raised heel (like where they are on their front toes ina fursuit type thing) and then add a heel 💀 lmfao

My thoughts on the Ritsu&Shou related parts in the Fanbook

because I am kinda going insane.

The way ONE was able to melt all the gays down in one go should be studied, analysed and locked deep in the black void of Shou’s black shirt in the Cultural Festival scene in the manga, because there’s no way. 

As a warning, while I’ll be mostly talking about their relationship in terms of friendship anyway, I ship them, so this is kinda biased on this side of things. Enjoy what I have to say under the cut.

Okay, so, with the premise that the translations around on Twitter aren’t official so the info might not be 100% accurate, I am still more than willing to trust our beloved fantranslators and their hard work. Let’s actually begin this slide deep into the tunnel headed to Copium Land, shall we?

• To the question "Who are your friends, excluding your brother?" Ritsu just answers with Student Council Members and Classmates. And that we (readers) don't have to worry, since he has many people he can ask about the weather to. Now.

We... never see him hang out with his classmates, nor his Council members. Ever. Except for the whole S1 "Middle school criminals purge" fiasco and even then, it ended up with him breaking through the Student Council President Kamuro’s house. When I say Ritsu isn't normal, I mean it (go off, King). 

Ritsu is the same person who asked the other Psychic kids from the Awakening Lab their names only after they were all kidnapped. And solely for the sake of escaping. He... doesn't know how to socialize well or doesn't particularly care. 

To him, friends are ones he can ask the weather to. I honestly feel like, no matter how popular he is (mostly, due to his looks... let’s remember how he is the one among the kids in the cast who gets the most chocolate on Valentine’s Day, but he finds it a nuisance) he doesn’t really know how-to-friend and how-to-people. And partially, he isn’t too focused on that due to the many things he has going on. 

I truly appreciate the idea of autistic Ritsu, because it would explain many things tbh, and this difficulty of approaching others/making friends/even having a basic understanding of friendships and what they mean would be clearer. 

Now, onto Shou. We have two questions to take into account:

• To the "What do you like doing with your friends?" he answers mentioning only Ritsu. Not even the kids that call him leader in S2,nor any classmate. Just Ritsu. And he mentions how Ritsu doesn’t like crowded spaces and noise (I'll return to that later) and how they went fishing together and Ritsu didn't manage to catch anything. From this we have: 

THEY WENT FISHING TOGETHER. Even with the whole text thing later, Ritsu still cared enough to go out with him. Without Mob being involved at all. I think it's important. They canonically hang out together.

Shou cares so much that he wanted to go to a place where Ritsu would feel comfy. Fishing is probably not an activity Shou prefers among others. But Ritsu might appreciate it and that's enough. 

Ritsu is bad at fishing and this is honestly a fun detail lol. 

• Through the same question, we have the whole text bit with Shou saying he texts Ritsu from time to time, but Ritsu answers slowly/not frequently. So-

For one, Ritsu does answer. He is a busy person with Student Council matters and he is, yk. At the top 10 of the best students in the school, in his first year competing with third years. And yet, he still answers these messages. 

Shou goes to school THIS IS A WIN BTW I KNEW IT, Shou literally emits the energy of that one kid who is actually totally listening during class, remembers everything and gets damn good marks, called it. Anyway, Shou probably isn't a slow texter like Ritsu is and has another perception of time lol, not to mention how he probably isn’t as busy. Can relate to Ritsu here. 

They still text. That's pretty good in my book (copium). 

Again, noise. They should have 2012-13 flip phones and now, I have used them in the past, but forgive me, I forgot what I did yesterday, imagine remembering 2012 phones, but I believe they did have an option to turn off notifications. And with Ritsu disliking noise... it's no wonder he would. It also helps with studying. 

•  There was a question about the Cultural Festival bit. Shou says that Ritsu didn’t ask him to come personally, he just caught wind of it and thought “why not?”, which makes more sense now that we are 100% sure he goes to school. Honestly, it’s no wonder Ritsu didn't ask Shou to go and see him. He was uncomfy with that outfit and the whole Maid idea. But as soon as Shou caught on that, he just. Went. Without honestly any other reason if not to see him. Still fruity enough in my book. 

• Last but not least. Ritsu does call Shou a friend in the World Domination Arc. And, truly, I am not willing to believe they aren’t on friendly terms after them texting together, hanging out together (fishing) and Ritsu just... accepting Shou burnt down his house and going along with his plan without a second thought lol. Hence why:

Either Ritsu truly just doesn't know where to place Shou in his mind. Thinking back also on Shou's VA interview helps with this.

Or, since he was mentioned as a friend in Shou’s profile, ONE believed it would have been redundant to put him in Ritsu’s as well. Which I believe is actually a fair point, since Ritsu wouldn’t have added that much insight, knowing him lol.

Or, regarding them being established as friends in World Domination Arc... ONE forgor. And truly, it has been years since he finished that arc, and he has written so many drafts of manga (ONE PUNCH, the rest of Mob), the new upcoming one and all of the extras since then. Wouldn’t blame him.

There is also this little important DETAIL of ONE just casually mentioning he would like a spin-off with Ritsu AND Shou. Together. Can’t separate, idc.

And... gosh, I think this is all. Thanks to all the ones that translated the bits that came out with this book and Katya’s translations of all the other interviews! Between this, the whole deal with Teru (aka his freaking terrible fashion sense and especially his parents), Reigen’s family, Serizawa’s pay, a few peculiar ages being revealed... this fanbook has been a trip and a half.
