The idea for this crossover friendship collage came to me after I made a collage of Fat Nuggets alone, and began to remember the artworks I have seen of Hazbin Hotel characters featured in AUs of Disney films. Mostly of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, but Nuggets is just as cute as Pua. So I thought it would be fun to feature the two in the same collage, since I have already done a few Disney/HH crossover collages.

I might feature the both of them again in another collage when the Lunar Year of the Pig/Boar comes around. With it being my Chinese Zodiac animal sign and I have done three other collages for the year of the Rabbit, Dragon and Snake.

Best of 2024 Movies #11: Moana 2

Dwayne Johnson and Aulli Carvalho are seemingly in different places than 8 years earlier when they brought Moana of Motonui to life with that years second best film.

So for what originally began life as a Disney+ exclusive, that homages the past straight to video Disney movies that took 3 episodes of a series that was never ordered.

It is fulfilling.

3 years removed from becoming wayfinder, Moana now adjusts to life with a sibling (BTW, I like that her VA name is Danerys inspired) and her continued quests to bring the islands beyond her homeland together.

When in a vision she sees a possible future for her people, Moana gathers her pig, chicken, and a crew of three to journey out to save their way of life.

All the while Maui runs a foul of his own deeds trying to keep Moana out of the bigger picture.

Like the previous film, this delves into Polynesian lore with grace and civility needed.

Along with some gorgeous animation.

The only downside is like mentioned, this did fall under the Disney direct video series mandate trying to stretch what would’ve been a TV show concept into a singular narrative.

Smaller one with the boat snack upgrade scene not being included in the film.

At least the music is still good.

SUM 22: Moana and Maui are together on the ocean again as we get our first Disney+ version of the Disney classic direct to video three episode pilot.

Cause the pig was BORING!! The pig is every other Disney princess sidekick that's cute but otherwise forgettable. I cheered internally SO HARD when the chicken came with her instead!

I had a chicken like Hei hei, so this was an amazing addition. An arrow is shot at him, *curiously and comically pecks at it*

What would have the pig done? The boring logical thing of squeal and hide Probably. He's cute, but predictable and dull. Would have added nothing to the trip other than an extra face.

Leave the pig at home, or give it an actual purpose. The chicken was at least comedy relief.

After I made a crossover friendship collage of Pua and Fat Nuggets from Hazbin Hotel, as well as making a collage of Fat Nuggets alone, I felt the need to give Pua is own character collage as well. With how cute he is, and to showcase how much he has grow from the first Moana film to the second one.

My newest contribution to the Mermay event features Disney's other Hawaiian girl Moana. Since she never goes anywhere without her pig friend Pua, I decided to give him the "mer" treatment as well. Hope you like it.

silly little headcanon: Maui doesn't need to sleep all that often because he's a demigod, but because he was born human he still occasionally feels tired and sleeps anyway. Sometimes while he sleeps, he actually finds it more comforting to shapeshift into an animal and sleep that way; he's a big guy who takes up a lot of space, so sometimes it feels nice to just. turn into a little animal and curl up in a little ball to sleep.

Sometimes when Moana loses track of him on a voyage, when she isn't sure she saw him take off and leave, she ends up finding him in the cargo hold, shapeshifted into a little pig, curled up and sleeping besides Pua. She'll never tell him she found him like that, of course. She needs her blackmail and cameras haven't been invented yet, and also it's so stupid cute to see this all powerful demigod just curled up into this tiny little thing snoring away.

He even finds himself doing it on Motunui, even though he'd definitely be offered a place to stay if he wanted one. Sometimes villagers will just happen across a "weird looking lizard" just baking out in the sun, fast asleep. Sometimes they see a massive hawk nesting on the roof of Moana's fale. Maybe sometimes he even shifts in his sleep to some animal that doesn't even make sense for where he touched down to rest. Maybe one day he wakes up to a huge crowd surrounding him on the beach, Moana included, because oops, he transformed into a whale in his sleep, and a bunch of poor confused fishermen thought he was some poor old regular whale that beached itself by mistake.

Something about using his powers at rest. For comfort, rather than for power and aggresion.
