in spanish they do keep the nicknames:
alex for alexander (which makes sense because even in the present day, alex is a legit nickname for "alejandro")
ptol for ptolemy/"ptolomeo" (which is... awkward. it's just an awkward nickname, nobody speaks like that in spanish. why not "ptolo"?)
and-- to my eternal shame and embarrassment-- "hef" for hephaestion (which doesn't even make sense, because in spanish you don't pronounce the H in "hefestión," but you HAVE to pronounce it in "hef." it's so weird)
to be fair, even the translation of hephaestion's name is kind of awkward. i don't think i'd heard anyone ever say his name in spanish until i looked it up in MoaG..
So, you know the infamous nicknames "Alex", "Heph" and "Ptol" they used in Netflix docuseries Alexander: The Making of a God?
In the Italian dub, they don't exist. The translation/adaptation changed all the nicknames into their full names. I don't know the official reason, but my guess is that the translator found them too cringe, and perhaps they didn't want people to blame the dub for that (unfortunately, it happens).
Anyway, the voice actors also did their best to fit entire names where the original actors were just saying the short version:
I'll have to say, that was a good decision. I don't usually watch dubbed shows, but in this specific case the docuseries sounds a bit more serious in Italian.

Hey Mark! How come cards like Awaken the Woods and Jyoti, Moag Ancient make generic land dryad tokens instead of specifically making Dryad Arbor tokens, like how Disa the restless makes Tarmogoyf tokens?
Usually, we make generic tokens. Making specific references to existing cards is an infrequent thing.

What do you think are some of the most underrated Planes?
At this point in MTG canon, it's any of them that aren't Dominaria, Phyrexia/Mirrodin, Ravnica, Innistrad, Theros, or Zendikar.
But personally, I am feral - FERAL I tell you! - over the ideas of the one-off planes introduced in Planescape but don't get much. I'm talking Azgol, I'm talking Moag, I'm talking Valla, and so on and so on.
Naturally, I must also bring up Kylem, Ikoria, Fiora, Regatha, Kaldheim, et cetera. Most of them only got one set. I'm not counting the ones that we're confirmed to be returning to in the next year - Arcavios and Tarkir - and I'm also not counting Lorwyn-Shadowmoor because Lorwyn-Shadowmoor is what I would consider the most popular underrated plane.
And no, I'm not going to bring up Kamigawa during its Neon Dynasty, Capenna, and anything newer than that because those are either still in Standard or just rotated out. Even though I have a strong New Capenna bias.
I'm just very tired of going through planes so quickly and only returning to the popular ones, ya know?
Thanks for sending this in, anon! Sorry it took so long to get back to ya!

random check in.
reading tdr, rin needs a hug, i knew moag was sketchy, desperately need rin and kitay to make up, annoyed by how chaghan judged her for mugen when he and qara broke that dam. daji is hot as hell, sorry. vaisra and rin’s relationship is kinda icking me out ngl. predicting that hesperians are gonna become the new villains somehow. and nezha’s so cute gushing about arlong.
ok good i have your attention
the bombing continues. casaulties are up to the three thousands last i checked. 45 gazan families, not people, families have been removed from the gazan census. humanitarian aid still can’t make it to people, they’ve ran out of food and now electricity. and oh yeah, information abt the crisis is being purposefully shrouded while israeli propaganda is readily available. asking alexa or chatbots abt how the palestinians are faring results in bs abt it’s to sensitive for children (alexa) and it’s a complex issue that can’t truly be explained (chatbots) but if asked how israel is doing, it’s bs abt how the country is just protecting itself. we are living in a literal dystopia. it seems history isn’t learned for avoidance, but rather inspiration. i hate it here. free palestine.

We know Moag is a bucolic and pastoral summery plane (there is a place literally called "Fields of summer"), but do you think there could be other areas on the plane that are instead linked with other seasons? A winter region, an autumn one and so on?
That might be cute, but remember that Moag was a one-off reference to the novel planeswalker. So while that’s a fun idea it’s sort-of already served it’s purpose.

This is the kind of album including 2 instruments created from scratch by one of the bands members and nobody remembers how they were made. The back cover is a photo of both band members pushing a Moag off a bridge.
The liner notes are a love letter (platonic) to their next door neighbor, an elderly woman who would complain about Margaret Thatcher at the slightest provocation and has the largest collection of teas they've ever seen.
