MMJ: Minori is 100% autistic; “more, more!” is a vocal stim. Shizuku is autistic and has ADHD (RSD hits her hard), as well as dyslexia, while Airi has dysgraphia. Visual Narratives 💕🧩

Morning at 8:00, I have lecture lesson but  I am still sleepy. ☀️ Today I need to defend my 2nd assignment but I feel that I am not ready. This task seemed tough, and it was really difficult, because in this part of our project we had to complete all the main parts. For example, the choice of font, color, size, etc. I don't consider myself a good designer, and in this case my inspiration was an interactive article about https://www.nytimes.com/projects/2012/snow-fall/index.html#/?part=tunnel-creek . So, I decided to create a minimalistic atmosphere of the site in my article. Using calm color, tones and fonts in a minimalist style was my priority. But I also knew that I needed to pay attention to the colors. Because in this lecture we learned how colors can be powerful. On this way I decided to combine two styles. For my text part I used minimalism style, for my infographic were used colors like deep purple, blue. So, to the readers visiting my site, I wanted to give a feeling of luxurious styles and with it a restrained atmosphere. ✨🪐

Multimedia Reporting Mastery Journal

My goal is to become a Sports or News MMJ for a television station or news outlet. To understand the context of my goal I have to learn the two M’s in MMJ is Multimedia. It is not just a video, but I am crafting a story to tell. I may use lower thirds, I may use graphics, full screens, maps, B-roll, or even photos. The same concept applies to print. It involves text, photos, infographics, video, and audio. It can even apply to audio pieces. You have a script, the complementary story, graphic or photo for the cover, SOT’s (soundbites on tape), and natural sound (NATS). From this one class, I learned that multimedia reporting can apply to any crafted story, depending on the elements.

I learned that a story is told though not only the text, but through the multimedia elements as well. The text is the meat of the story which it is important. The multimedia elements are the vegetables which brings a good context to the story.

My favorite multimedia elements are the infographics and video. I like telling a story using infographic and using a map to give the reader or viewer where the story takes place. I also like using video in my stories because I want to show more than just a still photo. I want the viewer to feel, smell, taste, see, and sense the story as he or she was there.

What I learned in this course is how to put the pieces together in one crafted story. It can apply to any type of story. It is not how you publish the story but how you craft the story to make the viewer, reader, or listener care.

What if I wrote a story on a restaurant, for example? A person reading the story wants to see the restaurant, hear from customers, hear from the owners and cooks, and know where it is. that is where multimedia comes into play. I could get photos of the restaurant, show a map where it is, grab some video of customers who enjoyed the food, and get the inside scoop from the owners and cooks. That would make a good multimedia reporting piece. This class has helped me accomplish this.
