MLP cancellation rant

So apparently Gen 5 is getting cancelled.  I must say that despite liking the show I am not all that surprised.  In my opinion, despite the great ideas and characters, the creators did not do a very good job delivering it.  I mean there are many reasons why I think this generation did not do as good as it could have done.

For starts, they connected it too much to Gen 4.  Gen 4 was great.  Most people can agree and i feel the creators wanted to continue to use that popularity even without the characters.  This created a lot of confusion and contradictions in the lore of the two generations.  I feel it would have been better if the Gen 4 cast was more of a cameo and not canon in the Gen 5 world. Even with the canon they never really addressed anything.  What drove the ponies to split?  What barrier is around Equestria?  Was it up the whole time despite there being no magic?  Was the reason Twilight created the crystals because she was alone?  Why couldn’t they defeat Opaline themselves?  There was so much that didn’t make sense or hardly touched on.  

Heck, the movie made way for plenty of potential story arcs or plot points.  Why was Izzy alone?  Does it relate to her ability to see a pony's luminescence?  How did the pegusi accept the royal family so fast?  Was there any doubt afterward?  If they wanted a connection with Gen 4 why didn't they include iconic locations?  Why can Sunny shift from Pony to Alicorn?  

Another thing is the fact that the show was initially 2 separate types of shows.  Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale.  This, I feel, was a really bad move.  One show was serious and actually had a run time to tell a somewhat detailed story.  While the other is purely fun and something to enjoy.  They used these shows horribly.  TYT spoiled things.  MYM was not of good quality at first.  TYT is only 5 minutes long.  MYM took forever to get each chapter.  TYT was fun and silly.  MYM was more serious and dark.  With all this, it is no wonder it didn’t work.  But then they made it worse by getting rid of one of them and it was the story telling aspect of the two.  With only TYT there was NO WAY they could tell a good story with the EXTREMELY short run time.  Even shows that are 15 minutes long really struggle with having a good story or solid stream between episodes.  5 minutes was WAY to short.  I feel if they just changed the length to be longer they might have had a better chance.  Making the character act a bit more like their MYM counterpart would have helped too.  But no.  they just had to keep the pace and silly style which didn’t work for a long serious story.  I am not even sure they will be able to wrap it up well.

There are probably more things that went wrong and I am sad that these great characters and ideas were wasted but hopefully, Gen 6 will be better.  One thing I would love to see is a complete rewrite of Gen 5.  One that is more independent from Gen 4.  Like I said I love the characters and believe there were many good ideas and potential but the connection with Gen 4 just kind of ruined it.  My opinion only.

Intro I suppose...

So, I've never really used this account. I first made it under my old DA account name, but I've sort of rebranded myself so to speak.

First thing's first, I'm a trans nonbinary dude (ftm/ftnb). I use the names Nicholas/Nick and Indigo interchangeably. My pronouns are he, they, it, and fae. He and they are of course commonly used, but it and fae feel right and I want to experiment with them. My gender is essentially a hoard of genders, but to put it simply my gender is demiboy.

I've been out to my family as trans for.... a year and a half as of posting. They've been pretty supportive, some misgendering as expected, but nothing outright phobic, just family getting used to the change. I also got a boyfriend roughly 8 months after coming out.... so he nearly exclusively knows me as a demiboy person and my family has to get used to me being my true self... and having my first partner...

The past couple of months (on and off) I've looked into what otherkin and therian beings are and how they figure this stuff out. I immediately knew I was catkin and possibly vampirekin. I've also figured out that I'm more than likely mermaidkin/sirenkin (I don't know the difference, so until I do I'm including both). I've told my boyfriend about the catkin bit cause I've kind of known this one for years, but couldn't explain it until someone on reddit asked about it using the same words I would. I also feel cryptidkin is accurate, but I'm not sure what cryptid is most accurate if any... it feels like it shifts from a feral gremlin, to a near human being with something outside of human understanding on them either as an ability or physical trait, to a large animalistic being like a wendigo/skinwalker, feral and murderous.

I don't mind explaining what genders I feel or how I experience my kintypes. I don't exactly know how active I'll be on here, but I'll check back as I can.

ONLY TYT thoughts/Rant

OK so ever since i heard and saw the clip of MLPTYT being the ONLY MLP series I have been having mixed emotions.

On one hand I do like TYT.  Never miss and episode and even watch them more then once but I feel it is too silly.  Don’t get me wrong I love most of the humor but I also loved the drama and seriousness of the MYM series.  I actually really like the more serious tone MYM gives us as well as the added humor.  Then when I think of it going away I don’t really like it.  I want the show to keep some of the serious tones that MYM as similar to what FIM did.  Have humor and drama in the same show.

HOWEVER, I just can not imagine the TYT series being serious with its bright colors, ultra-cartoony look, and just no.  I mean Opaline my not be the best villain but she is like 10 times worse in TYT.  

I just feel we will be losing a lot if MYM leaves.  

ALSO and this is my opinion only.  I like Izzy’s personality in MYM better then TYT.  I mean I feel TYY makes her a bit too Silly which is fine I still LOVE her but I like her more serious(kind of), fun. thoughtful, and doubtful at times self.  I swear I think she is the only one with a VERY obvious difference from TYT to MYM. 

In the end I don’t want it to leave.  I will take anything.  Oh maybe they can do something like Equestria Girls were it is a move series.  I would be ok with that.  Have the series be in TYT style but then when it comes to a big battle or big dramatic move they use the MYM style and have it be a movie.  Make sense?

Either way end of rant.  What do you think?
