Summer Orchard and Bitter Applewood had three kids: Bright Mac, Apple Brown Betty, and Orange Pippin (Uncle Orange). (His name is Orange Pippin bc there's an apple called Cox's Orange Pippin)

More Apple Family Redesigns

The first image is of Applejack's parents, Bright Mac and Pear Butter. So far, I think I'm just gonna keep their story the same as it is in the show. Also fun fact: Pear Butter's grandmother was a pegasus, so she has some pegasi traits that get passed down to Apple Bloom.

The second image is of Granny Smith and her husband when they were young, as well as old Granny Smith. I think their names in my au are gonna be Bitter Applewood (left) and Summer Orchard (right). They had an unhappy marriage where neither one really respected the other and they were always bickering about who was in charge of the farm or the kids, on top of other things. They divorced long before Bright Mac began courting Pear Butter. Summer Orchard stayed at Sweet Apple Acres with the kids while Bitter Applewood moved into Ponyville, staying nearby as he still wanted to spend time with his kids. However, his relationship with Summer continued to strain, and his own children began to grow distant from him, until one day, Applewood ran off to Phillydelphia with another stallion and was never heard from again. He died without ever meeting his grandchildren.

While both Summer and Applewood mistreated each other, Bitter Applewood was inarguably a shitty person. He was controlling and selfish, and the only reason he and Summer ever made their relationship work to begin with was because Summer Orchard was stubborn enough to be able to butt heads with him and get away with it. (It may have also helped that Summer was very strong)

Still don't know who their other kids are yet. I'll figure it out.
