Happy 10th Anniversary to the epitome of My Little Pony's creativity "Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks"!
To this day, Sunset's still annoyed that she's not on the cover of this fantastic magnum opus.

Happy 10th Anniversary to FNAF!

Here's a drawing I did of my favourite character for the occasion! It was inspired by the drawing on the left, which I did around the time I first joined the fandom. It's crazy how much your art can improve in a few years!

Been rewatching old Lalaloopsy stuff, so far up to the pre-Nick Jr. stuff and all the little differences and details and I need somewhere to ramble and you're the only Lalaloopsy fan I know of so-
-The fact that they lean so much more into the fact that they're dolls. The shininess of their eyes, the callbacks to the playsets in real life, the fact that they can fall from great heights and not be injured. I'd say that they somewhat less polished voice acting helps to emphasize this, like they're really just being played with by little girls.
-How unique each of the littles are. They all seem to be slightly different ages (Bundles is less good at talking and speaks in the third person, Sprinkle had a clearer voice but only says small phrases, Squirt can speak longer sentences, and Specs is nonverbal but clearly extremely intelligent). They each have slightly different relationships with their sisters as well - Mittens is more parental with Bundles, Crumbs is a lot more doting, Bea treats Specs like an annoying little sibling, and Squirt is basically Peanut's assistant.
-The way the pets are animated and how much character they're given. (The littles' pets are irrelevant which is hilarious to me)
-Rosy just popping up in random places a la that one Persona 4 food delivery girl
-All the unique quirks given to each character to flesh them out that are left out of the Nick series (Pillow's narcolepsy, Mittens' snow magic, Peanut and Jewel being somewhat more sassy in a way, Jewel being into dance, Specs being nonverbal, Dot being easily distracted, etc)
-All of the smaller locations added to Lalaloopsy Land to give it more personality, like the playground or the flower fields
-Idk I'm just really normal right now I am so sorry-
I find it heartwarming how many fans are popping up to send asks. Considering the last piece of animated media dropped in 2017 and the 10th anniversary dolls are 3-4 years old now; It truly goes to show that there's always a fandom for something! Even if its just a handful of people or one fan getting their friends into it. I love talking to everyone and making art again.
I love that the earlier works for the series plays with and leans into the fact that they are dolls. Its subtle but works for what the series is meant to be. As much as I love the later series and thinks it does stuff well I can admit that some of the charm can be lost in the transition.
That's part of why I like the implication that the dolls were aging. Just like us, the former children who were playing out little stories with them the dolls and their stories were maturing. Though MGA never fully committed to any real over arching plot. Which is why I want too. We've seen it work with MLP and Ever After High (other series meant to sell dolls).
I do also miss
Specs being Nonverbal (I was actually so upset when she talked in her birthday episode. Her being nonverbal worked really well for her. And I liked the idea of her and Charlotte possibly being able to bond over communicating differently than their peers)
Mittens' snow magic. (There was a lot of potential to explore with it.)
Jewel's love of dance (It appears a bit in the Nick Jr. series but not much at all in L.A.L.A. Prep or We're Lalaloopsy. It's a cute part of her character. Gives her more hobbies than just...existing? ( I have really complex thoughts about Jewel and her roll in most series). And explains her dynamic with Tippy)
I also miss in general the amount of characters in the series. I understand that the later series never made it as far as the 26 episode a piece two season run Nick Jr. did. And I do feel like We're Lalaloopsy was setting up to include Cloud E. Sky. I would give anything for it to pull a Care Bears: Unlock the magic and drop a second season years after its initial run.

Seren's Studies: Odd Squad UK -- "A Tour of Odd Squad" Episode Followup, Part 2
Tumblr media
Part 2 of this very meta episode continues! Who's the adult without any children villain? Find out below the break!
Tumblr media
It's like they realized we've gotten so few songs sung in the franchise that they're paying people back with interest for it.
Tumblr media
odd squad tour
doesn't sing an odd squad song and instead just gives us the end
God- sh- e- what the hell, Rob?!?!?!
Tumblr media
Ohhhh...so the guy was a red herring.
That...changes things. Doesn't change my opinion about the episode all too much, but I don't know, I'd say they got me pretty good.
Tumblr media
Funny how I mention "Into the Odd Woods" and then a few episodes later we get clowns pie-ing themselves in the face.
Y'know...just like Omar.
Tumblr media
Putting aside the fact that Opie seems to have smartened up considerably in between "The New Ozzie" and this episode...I do like how this episode is taking the "villain dresses up in obvious clothing" cliche and turning it on its head by having the villain wear completely normal clothing so they'll be disguised.
It's almost like...they might be aware of the cliche. Hmmmm...
Or likewise, that villains actually are criminals because real-life criminals do not dress in ridiculous getups.
Tumblr media
For a second, my mind went deep into the gutter and went, "If he serves them food and one of them has an allergy to that food..."
But no. No. Not for this episode.
Tumblr media
"You've led me right to the Power Room."
"And you'll have to get through us first!"
"A few small children? Ha, don't make me laugh!"
Tumblr media
MS. ELECTRIC!!! ELECTROCUTE HIS ASS!!!!!
...I'm sorry, that was the first reference that popped up into my head. Bro got electrocuted somewhere down the line though.
Tumblr media
Okay, we get it, it is meta, and they loved it.
Tumblr media
"Always have a villain on the tour."
Or in actuality, "If you have not stepped foot in a birthing room and laid down and popped out a child, or supported someone popping out a child, then welcome to the Odd Squad Superfan Tour, my name is Opie, and let's begin!"
Tumblr media
And your credits for this episode. My guess is that these episodes combine both segments' credits together in the same run -- hence why we have other characters not seen here in this episode. I...can't believe it took me this long to realize that, lol.
(On the plus side, someone's getting a lot of mileage out of LGBTQ+ triangle villain this season. They're giving a "fuck you" to critics and going hard.)
---------------------------------------------
Overall, this was an okay episode with a mix of good and bad things. Wasn't really what I was expecting, unfortunately, but I did very much enjoy the red herring. If this episode really is some kind of a jab at adult fans of the franchise...it's not really a good one. This franchise has done better jabs at that group of people, and quite frankly I don't take kindly to shows that make jabs at the whole of the periphery demographic instead of, say, just creepazoids within the demographic.
But naturally, this is a Rob joint. And the last Rob joint I did a followup on wasn't too good either. So I wasn't expecting anything crazy stellar. But this episode could have been so much better for being a part of a 10th-anniversary series, and instead what we got was...nothing really of substance beyond an Oscar mention, like that makes it okay. And the meta stuff. That too.
In essence, this plot is basically what you hire fans to write. And frankly, I could probably pull it off better than Rob did. Anyone in the fandom could pull it off better than Rob did. There's a challenge for ya.
Next up on the block will be "Club 37", which, if I'm not mistaken, features unicorn Rainbow Dash. So I'm gonna become even more insufferable with all the MLP references! Huzzah!
Seren out!

Hiiiii. I saw your responses on another users asks about Lalaloopsy lore and would LOVE to talk Lalaloopsies with you. Please info dump to me 🙏
I want to hear it all (if that’s okay with you obvi)
On it! Under a cut cuz it's so long
So Lalaloopsy was originally created in about 2009 as Bitty Buttons, but the same had some copyright disputes so it was changed about about 12 dolls? The original 8 and the four succeeding them have very rare versions with this packaging.
Dolls were released in waves of about eight every season or so, outside of limited editions and such.
Initially, the canon was limited to the descriptions on the backs of the boxes, some books, and a few web and DS games, before the first animated universe came about, consisting of web shorts and a movie.
Eventually Nick Jr. picked up the franchise for six more movies, more shorts, and a two season TV series. Like all of the VAs for the franchise were nobodies except in the Lalaloopsy Girls movie for some reason.
Then the Nick show caused a lawsuit since the company behind Lalaloopsy (MGA) didn't pay as much for it as they said it would, which I assume didn't help with the steady decline of the brand (cheaper dolls, less creative ideas, etc), before Netflix picked it up for a show.
The Netflix show sorta bombed, they only made five dolls and some minis and I don't think anyone really cared outside of existing fans, a lot of which were turned off by the more realistic direction taken for the dolls and changes to the story, with fan favorite characters being omitted such as Peanut and Cloud E.
Lalaloopsy sort of died after the Netflix show until the 10th anniversary re-released in 2021ish, old and new dolls just like the old ones coming out and old songs and movies getting YouTube uploads. Nothing's really happened since but hey.
Fun facts: the series was racist a lot, I think they've been getting better but c'mon, Mittens, Mango, Sahara, Yuki, Feather, the fact that Dot was the darkest character and got like no merchandise, the whitewashing of Cinder, I think they've been rectifying some of these things lately thankfully.
They've tried to ride the coattails of mlp (ponies) and monster and ever after high (girls) to eh results
The Babies Diaper and Potty Surprise dolls probably foreshadowed the oddly scatalogical direction MGA has taken in recent years
Like everyone is neurodivergent coded in the Netflix series
People thought Suzette La Sweet and Crumpet Hearts were getting married in the Sew Royal Tea Party bundle
I think Rosy's design had to get changed because of violating Red Cross guidelines at some point
For some reason Bundles is shown with a pacifier a lot even though she's never come with one outside of a mini, same with Rosy's hat and Misty's gloves
(My dad used to put my dolls up in trees and it made me sad, that's neither fun nor a fact but)

You may have seen me post about Build-A-Bear's Honey Girls before. Since their 10th anniversary is next year, I’m hoping they make them extra-special. But I’m also hoping they change a few things.
- Get rid of the rooted hair and opt for molded, cloth/plush hair (akin to fanmade MLP plushies). Since the material used for their hair is polypropylene, it tends to get very low quality and the texture is an issue too. So just stick with hair that is stitched to the plush body.
- Use more variety in fabric textures, but make sure it’s soft enough.
- Use more patterns in the clothing. I’d love to see more pretty star patterns!

Happy 10th Anniversary to My Little Pony's first ever humanized movie, "Equestria Girls"!
As polarizing as this movie's always been, it's hard to deny that it's always been pivotal stepping stone for even greater stories to be told like "Forgotten Friendship", as well as the magnificent magnum opus that is "Rainbow Rocks".
So by all means, raise a glass of your favorite beverage for one of the movies of all-time!

I've just learned that the best animated musical children's film designed to sell a doll line (Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper) and the second-best animated musical children's film designed to sell a doll line (My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks) have their 20th and 10th anniversaries (respectively) this year, one day after the other (the 27th for MLP and the 28th for Barbie).

Happy 13th Anniversary, My Little Pony!
13 years? That’s actually wild. October 10th, 2010, the very first episode of My Little Pony was aired.
To think that this was the show that actually influenced and changed my life for the better. This is the show that taught me friendship, my social skills, it taught me everything I need to know about socialism and making friends.
I think about it a lot, actually. I often think about how theyre doing right now. Equestria, the mane 6, the equestria girls. It’s been around 4 years since the last episode, so maybe a lot hasn’t changed but I guess we won’t know.
I feel like this show was more than just a cartoon, it was a cartoon that’s existed for a while, and it’s something multiple generations can talk about because My Little Pony has been there throughout those generations.
But let’s talk about Generation 4. We can all agree that it’s the best, right? It’s the most popular out of the existing generations, including Gen 5. I feel like it’s the most popular because this was a show that’s peak was during the 2010’s, just like a lot other shows like Steven Universe and Adventure Time, except My Little Pony just stood out.
I want to say thank you to Lauren Faust and the whole MLP cast. You guys really worked hard enough to affect a whole generation of people. You’ve provided us with more than just a cartoon, you gave us something people can seek comfort in, something people can learn from, and most importantly, something people can just enjoy =)
Happy 13 years, My Little Pony 🩷

Back to the comics, and to the first issue.
Tumblr media
2022 was the 10th Anniversary of IDW’s My Little Pony Comics. To celebrate it, they have reprinted the first issue of the comic. And since I reviewed it already with the rest of the storyline I don’t believe I will repeat it. But luckily for us there is more than just a reprint. There’s an additional story taking place after the events of Season 9 (because I don’t buy their Season 10 comics being the true continuation)...
Tumblr media
So this story starts off with Adult Spike telling one of the comic stories at a Meet and Greet. So according to the comics, Spike wrote all these comics. I like the idea that since he was so interested in comics he would get into making them. So with that in mind, it is currently implied that the comics are Spike retelling the events he’s been through (or heard about) and retold them in the form of comics.
Tumblr media
But then Plot Device (a name I give to a Strawman) begins to complain about continuity. While I have made similar criticisms, I’m hopefully not the absolutist as this guy is. I know the fact that these guys don’t have the same access to the main plot as the actual show runners. So as much as I have complained about continuity not matching up, it really isn’t the big point this person is making it out to be. Like I’m pretty sure Siege of the Crystal Empire is a bad story even if Sombra never did come back. And the Friends Forever comic with Trixie and Rarity being bad was more about the development the comic itself made for Trixie being forgotten.
Tumblr media
So Spike revealed he had the idea to turn his stories into comics two years after Twilight and Spike moved to Ponyville, so he was writing it as it was happening. But since he couldn't see the future, gaps had to be filled when he could. Like how Starswirl first defeated the Sirens according to IDW in Fiends Forever Vs how it was shown in the show (and then in more details in the comics). And Spike makes a good point: at the end of the day, you’re just trying to tell a good story. If you have to do something to make it good, try to do so. If it works then it was worth it.
Tumblr media
But I totally disagree with this pony. Season 9 Sombra is the best Sombra! He’s less Anakin and more Superman 2 Zod. And because this is a writer venting, the audience agrees with Spike’s side. And the host of the event still enjoyed his “Party Canon” even if they weren’t true. And it has a nice message about that: “it may not be canon but it gives you more of what you love”. When IDW does that, I think it’s the best.
Tumblr media
Thing is what I love differs from others. I’ve seen people enjoy the more Adventure Side of MLP but I’m a Slice of Life guy for this series. So if I were to get more stories letting us know things about the characters the show wouldn’t tell, I definitely enjoy it more. Like the Season 10 comics, I wasn’t a fan of the overarching story because it introduced so many new characters that they expected me to like. 5 from Zecora’s homeland, 4 new cats, 6 dogs, 5 birds, and 6 villains who only show up in two comics. Now compare that to the comics that are building up to the Cheese/Pinkie future that I love. Which do you think I’m more invested in?
Tumblr media
And 2022 ends with being the best years in recent history for me as not only is Sticks the Badger back in the Sonic Franchise, but Mina the Dragon returns after who knows how long. With it ending that all those stories are true in a certain way. Overall, ignoring Plot Device, it is a nice story to celebrate the 10th Anniversary.
