The dynamics may shift, but the people are the same, with or without magic jewelry.

Each ship in the square is important for the narrative. Each ship shows a peice of who our two leads are as people. You can't have one corner without the other three and the differences all of them bring to the table.

People are multifaceted.

When you go to work, hang out with friends, or spend time with your family you might act differently, but that's still you.

Someone isn't putting up an act because they present themselves differently in different social situations. They might not even be conscious that there are noticeable changes?

Looking at season five really hammers this point home, actually.

Marinette once she feels like she can address her feelings for Chat as Ladybug?

Technically Ladynoir, but it's a Adrinette dynamic with a magic spandex spin.

Marichat once Adrien and Marinette realize they love their friend/partner?

Now they're both blushing goofballs who think that their closest friend and most trusted ally hung the moon in the damn sky....oh. Yeah, that's Ladrien.

The reason the kiss in Elation was great and terribly bittersweet is because Marinette, who is Ladybug, is kissing Chat Noir. It's because Chat Noir, who is Adrien, is kissing Marinette.

It's not just a Marichat moment. The whole episode is Ladynoir and Adrienette as well! Yes, with or without cat ears or spots.

The only difference is that each of them only has half of the equation.

Unfortunately, because of how risky it is, they can't tell each other who they are. They don't realize how they've been running around each other this whole time either. This is what makes it so bittersweet!

The episode was inpactful because of all the buildup seen through all sides of the square.

No side is better or worse, they're all different angles of the same love story.

.....But for real, can we get Ladrien smooches as well? Please??
