Yo the Miraculous movie on Netflix freakin sucked XD

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the hell out of it, but only because it was so bad that it was good

The worldbuilding was underdone, the story inconsistent, the characters under-developed, and the background cast teleported constantly. Each scene individually was great but together they made an incomplete narrative of a film

The visuals were stunning and the songs were beautiful, but they never drew a line between the real magic and the imaginary sequences, not to mention the singers sounding nothing like the characters

ALSO, ALL THE MUSIC WAS DIEGETIC????? APPARENTLY????? Like the characters could HEAR other characters singing as if being in a musical was normal for them????

Idk I have a lot of opinions but I did enjoy this film visually, musically, and comedically, but it underperformed in the technical stuff. Shots lasted too long, characters stood too close to each other, not giving Adrien a proper character arc, etc.

Also worth mentioning is how important plot beats are left overlooked and unexplained: Alya taking photos inside the Church despite being outside it, characters jumping around town without any time passing, the entire climax, etc.

Trying to keep this review as spoiler-free as possible, but there were glaring mistakes that I’m sure even the most diehard of fans saw. I’m sorry your favorite show got such a disappointing film adaptation. At least it looks pretty as hell and you have a fun soundtrack to vibe to!

So yeah 2/10 would watch again but ironically

this netflix ladybug movie pixar rippoff ass is like gentrification to me. watching miraculous is an EXPERIENCE of SUFFERING, CONFUSION, FRUSTRATION, AND NEVER ENDING CIRCLES wrapped up in low tier animation and being aired out of order. the show is a purgatory to me. to take this away is to take away miraculous ladybug as we know it . also let Christina vee sing
