A Challange Worth Takeing On!

It has been four years since Hawkmoth’s defeat (Chat gave up his Miraculous after the defeat and then disappeared) and Marinette traveled to Gotham to get away from her past. After Hawkmoth’s defeat Marinette, being the guardian of the miraculous, decided to take the miraculous elsewhere(and also get away from Lila and her old friends). Where she found herself was in Gotham where she met a tall dark haired boy that she now calls her Husband, his name is Damian Wayne. Now after three years of marriage (even though Damian’s brothers still don’t believe that their younger brother could find love and keep a girl long enough to marry) Marinette and Damian now have another challenge ahead of them.

This is one challenge that they both are new too but won’t be as hard as fighting a villain and one that will bring much joy to them both and the family. 

Marinette is four months pregnant and the only person who knows that are the Kawmis and Damian the challenge they have is that they have still yet to tell either of their families and still live in the Wayne manor which was quite a feat to keep the news from Alfred and Bruce for as long as they have. Damian and Marinette found out in the first month of her being pregnant and have kept it a secret for three months ,and now they have to tell their families before they find out for themselves and have to deal with another mess. The reason they have kept it a secret is because they wanted a chance to prepare for the smothering of the family once they found out about the soon to be new addition to the family.

Which brings us to now where they have gathered the family in the dining room full of shenanigans and two expecting parents wondering if they should keep their secret or not.

“Hey little D why does pixie pop look like she is about to run away , did you finally scare her off.”Jason teased 

“No Todd, if anything would deter my Angel it would be you being rambunctious ” Damian glared at Jason.

Tim decided to pop up in the conversation a little intrigued by Damian’s response “Why would us being rambunctious be the cause when she has never been bothered by it before unless you are hiding something from us?”

“Yeah baby bird , ‘Nette has been avoiding seeing anyone besides Sabine, Alfred , or Bruce for about three months now!” Dick exclaimed   

Marinette decided now was a good time to speak up and give a glare to her three brother-in-laws  “ I have not been avoiding anyone Dick , I was simply protecting myself from being in a crushing hug or someone crashing into me”

From that the room went silent as everyones’ worries began to grow as this was an unusual statement from the girl.

Everyone was worried about their favorite little designer and demon tamer wondering if she was  injured somehow or if something bad happened.

Sabine was the first to speak “ are you okay honey why are you avoiding crushing hugs?”

Her mother was properly worried because she knew her daughter was never one to shy away from hugging a family member.

“Well mamma the reason why Dami and I have stayed after the monthly dinner and joined everyone in the living room this time around is because we have big news for everyone.”Mari said 

***Damian’s family and Marinette’s family have a monthly dinner to catch up and whatnot with each other , then they usually gather in the living room after to play games or to try and embarrass one another ,which it was usually the latter so Marinette and Damian did not hang around after dinner often.*****

Jason popped up and said “ You're not finally leaving demon spawn are you?”

Damian was about to retort to Jason when Marinette jumped up and yelled at Jason, surprising and worrying Damian due to how fast she got up ,and the others worried due to her actually yelling at all.  

“No, Jay, I will not be leaving Dami as I am four months pregnant and don’t enjoy you calling the father of my unborn child demon spawn!”  (that nickname always hit a cord with Marinette and she has not corrected it but she is hormonal due to being pregnant and just sort of lashed out at Jason) 

“Angel! You should not get up so fast! You could hurt yourself and our baby!”,Damian scolded 

Mari for her rashness and that did not go unnoticed by the family and put it away to tease him about it later for when he was not around Marinette. Which was wise on their part as they did not want to aggravate the pregnant Mari more.

After they got over the shock of Mari yelling at Jason and Damian scolding her they finally let what was yelled at Jason to sink in!

This week on my Reverse AU OC portrait series, I'm using Blake to study how to do leather. Leather is such a complicated material to work with, its supposed to be so reflective hence the more intense highlights in his jacket compared to how I did Shizuke's black shirt and Blair's romper. There's also the contrast in rendering black fur compared to Blair's white fur coat. Rendering black in general is a whole different thought excersise compared to the whites on Shizuke and Blair.

Introducing the black cat for my OC's reverse AU, Blake Crawford! Compared to Blair's ring, his silver ring has an orangey tint, a referrence to how he's the fox in the original timeline. The inspiration to tie his hair back is from Attack on Titan's Eren, for the depressing edgyness. Unlike Fiona who's design took some cues from Ladybugs (Marinette and Bridgette), Blake's inner clothes is based on Nathanael's akuma form, Evillustrator. It's cause his original design takes cues from Nathanael. The reason for the aversion to referrencing Adrien and/or Felix is, other than their outfits just aren't very edgy emo, it's to signal he isn't supposed to be seen as a love interest for his Ladybug partner. I wanted there to be something of a hint with his role despite being the black cat. Instead of paralleling Fiona, his outfit parallel's Blair's more. The black fur lining and an oversized black jacket, the white (light gray) shirt underneath, the way his hair is parted, the stripes, the round details... I picked him to be the black cat so he can be more active with his arc where he's looking for his sister.

Why are the twins separated?

Much like in the original, he and Blair lost their parents and got separated because of the foster system. Blair ended up with their abusive relatives while Blake ended up with the Liungs... except they never got Blair back. It's too late by the time they found out those relatives sold Blair off to the Supreme.

Blake tried everything he could to reach his sister but the Supreme blocked him every time - she's their newest little child soldier, they still had use for her. Eventually, there was an attempt on his and the Liungs' lives. The only reason they survived was because the Resistance saved them.

There, Blake learned everything. His parents and the Liungs were members of the Resistance. Mrs. Liung, the only one left alive, stayed in contact with the Resistance despite semi retiring to focus on helping him get Blair back - it's the least she could've done for her fallen friends and husband. Yet they can't reach her no matter how many strings they pulled, which is really saying something as Mrs. Liung was a former celebrity and her strongest string is the Resistance Leader, Lorelei, who is the mayor's sister-in-law. They suspect the Supreme had something to do with it.

So to tally, the Supreme has: killed his parents, killed Mr. Liung, abducted his sister, tried to get him and the Liungs killed... Blake has plenty to be mad about. This is why Blake joined the Resistance.

At first, Blake was obsessed with taking down the Supreme for taking everything from him. He fought them from the shadows. He takes out his anger on their goons for getting in his way. It doesn't matter what they throw at him, he will destroy them all... This went on for years.

But alas, Blake is still young. After years of fighting the Supreme, things are looking more and more futile. He grew tired, both emotionally and physically. He was always fighting, always hiding, making sure the Supreme doesn't catch wind of both Blake surviving or the new black cat on the prowl... the stalemate was taking its toll on him. Nothing seems to be changing.

That is until Keagan brought a girl to their base.

It was a mistake, the fallen prince said. But Lorelei saw something in the girl and declared her the new Ladybug, his partner. The time to fight in the light has come.

Not long after this, the Supreme called in reinforcements to crush the Resistance. First was the infamous Ox-wielding Miraculous hunter they've imported from Japan. Second was their shiny new-bee who's brimming with potential... Blake's sister.

Dub episode no. 100 today

(yeah the fuckers really DID premieer "Psychomedian" at four in the morning on a Sunday, complete with "NEW EPISODE" brand and all. wtf. Expect report when I've watched it; suffice it to say that I'm keeping the good episode for a treat when I've finished marking the mock exams. Also please do note that I don't belong to the people who hate “Ephemeral”, because I could never hate an episode with Adrinette this soft. But not hating it does not mean I can't talk about it being... not great)

Out of all the reasons people have for disliking this episode, legit or not, it's kind of weird how no-one ever brings up the animation. I guess they must've realised that there was no salvaging it and just thrown in the towel, and then evidently have forgotten what a disaster it was and started hyping it anyway

Adrien's VA was the only known name on Phineas and Ferb, which is marketed as "Ghost Force" these days. Not that I noticed him in the last five minutes running before MLB came on

Speaking of Adrien's VA, nothing much to write home about today. Adrien being hyper in his room post-reveal being even more awkward than it was even in languages where his VAs reliably perform on par always.

Added new language specific cat pun, whee. Kept different language specific cat pun that is a pun in English but not in any breed of mainland Scandinavian, just makes Adrien sound suddenly verbally challanged, WHY.

Marinette sounds hilariously defeated when telling Cat Noir that he was "right" in revealing their identities

I don't know if Luka is legitimately giving the man more to work with this season, but he's definitely sounding livelier than he ever did before

Good lord but Gabriel’s lines are delivered in such a Theatre Actor Voice and since this silly little dub is the one that by far brings me the more joy, I know I’ll never take it seriously the inevitable day when the show shockingly revealse that he really is a softie deep down. It’s great. 

I still don’t get why she’s calling on Luka here rather than Alya or Alix. I’m guessing this is to draw some lines to “Wishmaker” and that this in turns means Luka will be instrumental in The Reveal once it finally comes around, but she’s banking a lot on him applying his brain here

Or just not having to pay their VAs to show up for five lines, I guess

Adrien’s reaction to Ladybug’s identity comes across as weirdly 

So here’s another fun part re. “Psychomedian”: Every new episode airing is preceeded with a little clip stating that Marinette has to keep her identity secret, which I guess was made for this episode

I love that “klein” apparently has made such a comeback that eight year olds are expected to know it (a German loan indeed, that somehow took on the meaning “ill” or “awkward”)

No a-endings today, too much trauma I guess
