The fuckin roof of the Trop is gone. I repeat the fuckin roof of the Trop is gone.

The Trop was bein used as a shelter for linesmen first responders and the natl guard and at the time of the deroofin everyone inside was safe and okay no injuries. Some had even been moved elsewhere earlier in the day.

My students always ask why I have a framed case of dirt on the wall of my classroom, so here’s the story:

This wooden plaque contains MLB Authenticated Dirt from the final season at the old Yankee Stadium and can be verified by its numbered hologram. Located in the Bronx, NY, Yankee Stadium opened on April 18, 1923 and officially closed its doors on September 21, 2008. While they made their home at the House That Ruth Built, the Yankees won a record 26 World Series titles.

As a lifelong fan of the team, it’s just cool to have some of the actual infield dirt from such an iconic ballpark. Plus, it’s a fun conversation piece! ⚾🏟️
