near death experience…An artist by trade, Charlie made her fortune fairly young when an art buyer who represented a number of people in upper class society, took a shine to her work. What was only her third art show was a huge success, with the majority of her art fetching high prices. Her star rose and she was soon featured on lists of young artists to look out for. Her work was often polarising though, and she was loved in the industry just as much as she was hated. She fell in with a crowd of young socialites, and the majority of Charlie’s 20s were spent with her getting mixed up in alcohol and illicit drugs. There wasn’t a night where she wasn’t at a club or party, living a hedonistic style. Her social media feed was alive with photos taken in every big venue in town and she was able to just waltz into them because the crowd she hung with was always on the guest list and so was she by association.

Over the years she started to get tired of her life and it showed in her art. Sales dwindled and depression hit Charlie hard. She had one rule when partying and that was to never drink or take drugs alone. Charlie had seen her fair share of overdoses and never thought she’d be one of them. But one particularly bleak night, she turned down an invitation to go out and instead stayed home with a little baggie of Molly. She did all the things she usually did and had no more than one pill, but apparently she’d been given a bad batch and the next thing Charlie knew she was in a hospital having her stomach pumped. One of her friends had come home to check on her and had found her slumped on the floor.

From the moment she was discharged, Charlie decided she was going to make the most of her second chance at life. She quit all substances and stopped partying. Instead of going back to her previous art career, she got a job as an apprentice in a tattoo studio and worked her way up until she had her own client list. Of course she was doing all that while juggling with her new found ability (discovered when she was doodling in the hospital and the little bird she’d drawn, manifested itself) and her propensity for patrolling the streets of Brooklyn.  power…Charlie’s power is the ability to manipulate any art that she’s created and essentially make it do anything she wants. In this regard her only limit is her own imagination. She can also take that art and make it “come alive” and assume a 3D form in the real world. It doesn’t matter if it’s art on paper, graffiti on walls or even tattoo art, she can manifest it and use them to attack, defend herself or just exist around her. The art she manifests has the same strengths and weaknesses of what she has based it off (or its closest real life counterpart for things that don’t actually exist in real life e.g unicorns being similar to horses). They also will still have the same look as they do in 2D form, for example rough sketches will still look like a rough sketched version when brought to life. drawbacks / vulnerabilities…Her powers only work on her own art. The larger and more complex the drawing is, the more exhausted Charlie will be after manifesting it. The manifestation can also only exist as long as it’s in view of her (blinking is fine though). Once art is brought to life she cannot make it go back to the form it took before, so shes limited by the art she’s prepared and has with her. cerberus corp…Charlie hasn't been approached by Cerberus and doesn't think the founders would be particularly interested in her powers, nor is she really interested in joining them. While she thinks they do a lot of great work, she dislikes that they focus a lot on PR and what makes a good headline. She also believes in the justice system and thinks occasionally some agents get carried away with "fighting crime". She wouldn't call herself a vigilante, just someone who is trying to better her own neighborhood. Charlie volunteers as much as she can and patrols regularly at night to try and keep the streets as safe as possible. codename…The first time she appeared in her local paper, a witness described her as a silhouette who came out of nowhere, and from that moment it stuck as a nickname that locals call her. It's definitely not something she calls herself, but it does give her a little bit of a chuckle when she hears people using it in passing.

it  was  when  he  turned  eighteen  things  in  his  life  started  to  fall  together  perfectly  .  he  went  professional  with  mixed  martial  arts  ,  so  long  as  a  he  keep  his  record  good  he'd  be  signed  to  the  ufc  before  he  knew  it  .  in  the  meantime  though  ,  he  didn't  want  to  feel  as  if  he  was  under  his  step  -  father's  thumb  ,  he  didn't  respect  him  and  because  of  that  didn't  want  his  money  but  he  also  didn't  feel  right  asking  his  brother  for  more  than  he  had  already  given  him  and  his  mother  .  when  he  wasn't  fighting  he  got  into  modeling  ,  he  didn't  enjoy  it  exactly  but  it  paid  well  enough  to  keep  him  afloat  . 

he  made  the  move  to  las  vegas  in  2019  ,  most  people  would  think  moving  to  the  city  of  sin  would  derail  someone's  life  but  the  exact  opposite  happened  in  jaydan's  case  ,  atleast  at  the  beginning  .  he  was  surrounded  by  fellow  fighters  ,  away  from  his  step  -  father  ,  and  making  a  name  for  himself  on  his  own  .   he  had  never  been  happier  .  during  this  time  he  was  reigning  middleweight  champion  and  seemingly  had  the  world  at  the  tips  of  his  fingers  .  still  incredibly  young  ,  it  was  inevitable  for  his  life  to  get  a  bit  out  of  hand  .  he'd  always  been  known  for  being  a  bit  arrogant  or  speaking  before  thinking  when  it  came  to  press  conference  or  being  in  the  ring  but  that  was  all  for  the  love  of  the  game  in  many  ways  ,  and  was  something  that  added  to  him  being  one  of  the  most  beloved  fighters  in  ufc  .  in  2020  ,  though  ,  he  was  starting  to  rack  up  a  few  controversies  too  the  point  where  the  public  questioned  how  many  more  chances  he'd  get  before  his  championship  title  was  striped  .  thankfully  ,  he  took  action  and  moved  to  los  angeles  to  be  closer  to  his  brother  and  regain  some  grounded  a  year  later  before  things  got  worse  for  him  .

Entertainment Spotlight: Dallas Liu, PEN15

Actor and martial artist Dallas Liu plays Shuji Ishii-Peters in Hulu’s hit series PEN15. He also recently starred opposite Stella Hudgens as Taylor King in the young-adult drama series Players, which follows students at an elite Los Angeles high school. On the film front, Dallas can be seen starring in the drama short Ella alongside Nichole Bloom. Born and raised in Los Angeles, as a child, Dallas began training in mixed martial arts. At age seven, he was chosen to play young Jin Kazama in the Tekken film franchise and found a new passion in acting. He decided to commit to it at age twelve and has been working ever since. Dallas took the time to chat with us about the making of PEN15, middle school memories, and what’s next for him. Check it out:

Do you have any fun facts about the making of PEN15 that fans would be surprised to find out?

I think a lot of people would be surprised to find out that Maya’s mom in the show is actually her real mom.

What’s the most memorable or embarrassing thing that happened to you in middle school?

I think the most memorable AND embarrassing thing that happened to me in middle school was when I got rejected at a school dance for the first time.

What’s the funniest thing on your camera roll?

A video of my best friend in the world getting hit on by a 40-year-old woman at a restaurant.

If your life was a choose-your-own-adventure, what decisions would viewers have to make on an average day?

The hardest decision to make would definitely have to be what you want to eat. I’m always tempted to spend money online shopping because who doesn’t love that. And whether or not you should be staying awake or sleeping during the Zoom online classes because if you’re in school right now, you know how boring those classes can get.

Do you have a dream role that you’d like to play one day?

I’d love to play the MC of a live-action anime. I watch anime on a daily basis, so I’ve found a huge love for the plot lines and the character developments in anime shows.

Hi, hello to everyone, my name is William Suy, and I am a Cambodian American that was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, in Echo Park. As a kid, I grew up with a lot of Hispanics, African Americans, and Asians alike (but never Cambodian Americans :C). There’s always that one other Cambo I meet in elementary, middle, and high school, but they never spoke Khmer fluently (the Cambodian language), or they spoke, Teochow, which is a dialect spoken by those that have an ancestry of mixed Chinese and Cambodian. I was always out of touch with peers that can speak the same language as me, but when I did find someone, it was just awkward because they spoke less than I did, and I consider myself to not know so much of Khmer.

I’m currently actually a Bay Area resident as I moved to Sunnyvale, CA, back in 2016 due to family issues, and I could not be happy about that decision, even if it did have many other problems for me and my mental health. I currently rent a place in Westlake, Daly City, to attend SFSU (which is the only school out of 13 that even accepted me as a Comp. Sci. major, in which I’m planning to switch into Business [lol]). But hey, no matter where my life leads now, I am 75% optimistic that it’s leading me in a direction that will be fulfilling for me!

Apart from that, I really hope to see how much more I can get assimilated to my own culture since I’ve felt hella outta touch with how much I’ve been going to Khmer New Year festivals, not learning more of Khmer, and not having any acquaintances that can share the same cultural experiences really made me feel out of touch of who I actually am. But I’ve been trying to learn more by reading into folklore (even though its limited), listening to Cambo rap and hip-hop, and even recently deciding to get inked with motifs and images that identify me as a Cambodian American, and wanting to travel to my homeland to experience more of my culture and more!

I’m like a lowkey weeb, used to be an avid gamer, gym rat, but I’ve gotten busier with work (catch me at Panda at Westlake, y’all can get discounts if I’m working and i know yah C;), being President of Circle K at SFSU (a service organization on campus), and no one really knows this, but I’ve actually had 8 years of martial arts experience, have a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and I can actually do the splits (omg ikr?). If I seem dumb and silly, that means I’m opening up and becoming more comfortable around you, cause I’m usually quiet most of the time :p uwu rawr rxd.

I'm doing a lot of writing at the moment, halfway through my next album. It rocks a bit harder, grooves a bit deeper. The music is moving in a wonderful direction. In Celebration of Power Rangers’ 25th Anniversary, Power Rangers Live Tour to Launch in Spring 2018 in 50 North American Cities, Including Los Angeles and Toronto

Los Angeles – October 10, 2017 – In celebration of Saban’s Power Rangers’ 25th Anniversary, the iconic Rangers are set to morph onto stages around North America in an epic live show based on one of the longest running series in television history. Power Rangers Live  will be an interactive, mixed media stage production for the whole family with endless action-packed stunts and epic martial arts. Featuring themes from Power Rangers Ninja Steel, six ordinary teens will morph into the Power Rangers to help save cities and the world from an alien threat! Kicking off in Phoenix, AZ on February 17, 2018, the tour will visit an additional 50 North American cities in Spring 2018, including Los Angeles and Toronto.

Citi is the official card of Saban’s Power Rangers Live. Beginning Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 12pm (local time), Citi card members will have access to a special pre-sale, as well as VIP packages that include a meet and greet with the Power Rangers through Citi’s Private Pass Program. The public on sale date will be Friday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. (local time).

Featured in the workout were Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez and “Super” Sage Northcutt, who were accompanied by mixed martial arts legends Rich Franklin and Miesha Tate.

“ONE Championship is not just focused on mixed martial arts but other avenues of martial arts like kickboxing, Muay Thai, and submission wrestling,” Johnson stated. “They had a World Title fight in boxing as well, and I think it brings in more fans from different perspectives and art forms. ONE Championship has some of the best flyweights in the world on their roster. I’ll be competing against Yuya Wakamatsu who is a Pancrase champion, so it’s going to be exciting and I’m looking forward to going out there and mixing it up with those guys.”

With a highly-technical style and world-class skills, Johnson has dominated his division for the past seven years. During this span, Johnson captured the flyweight World Title and ran up a win streak of 13 bouts since 2012.

A multiple-time world champion, Alvarez has competed for the world’s top mixed martial arts promotions.
