Spop Beauty Pageant AU
So it’s kind of a twist on the pageant trope because I want it to be more inclusive and focus on cis nonconforming beauty standards. So the pageant would feature the entire cast and the different ways they express their beauty and confidence.
Double Trouble is a nonbinary icon. They make anything and everything look good 😎👑🧑🎤
Bow is a transmasc gender nonconformist. Dude loves his crop tops, and has no problems wearing flower crowns or donning a skirt if and when the mood strikes him.☀️🌼🏹
Glimmer is a short, and stocky queen. She enjoys frills, pastels, and sparkles 💖 She, also, prefers to wear boots with everything and short hair; a sort of Rebel in Pink kind of style. 🦹♀️ 💅👩🏼🎤
Adora’s got a strong athletic style that leans towards gender neutral. However, its fun for her to explore her softer feminine side with formal wear.👟🎀⚔️
Catra has this Punk Rock meets Femme Fatale vibe that’s super attractive 🎸🗡 and yet she’d never be caught dead in a dress ☠️. A plaid skirt with ripped leggings underneath is the closest she’s likely to get. 😼
While Scorpia is a gorgeous wall of muscle she has a strong feminine style 👠💋. Additionally, in the modern AUs, she is often times depicted with prosthetic limbs 🦾🦂
Mermista and Perfuma have a pretty self explanatory aesthetic. However, Mermista’s character is meant to explore a non-western culture, while Perfuma herself can be read as a trans feminine woman. 🔱🥻💐💚
I’d love to explore Frosta. She also has a non-western cultural background with an elemental aesthetic but her style isn’t fully fleshed out either. One could lean in multiple directions. I’d like to play around with her hair. Maybe longer hair with an undercut and multicolored streaks in electric blue, white, and silver. 🌨️❄️⛄️
Then there’s Sea Hawk who while very masculine in appearance is also very bisexual and body positive with his flamboyant over the top sailor aesthetic. 🔥🏴☠️⚓️
I could see older characters like Angella, Light Hope, Spinnerella, Netossa, and even Hordak acting as the judges. 🪽⚛️ 🌪️🌐💃
I’d probably add Entrapta as a stylist since she has no interest in competition. The spacesuits she took the time to design, along with Hordak’s armor, demonstrates how admirable her skills for fashion and design are. 👩💻 🪡🧵
Shadow Weaver could be a scorned and bitter pageant Queen trying to relive her glory days through one of kids (probably Adora). 🤡😒
Casta and Micah could be the co-host. I could see Micha dressing in drag for a few appearances too. 🧔♀️🔮🎤

I'm in love with Caro's style! It's a super cool mix of masc, fem, and vaporwave kind of look. As an enby who, at first, thought I had to look a certain way after coming out as non binary, I was wondering how Caro found their style after they started transitioning and figuring out who they were as a person.
Hello! So I did draw an entire four page little comic thingy to answer this, but I'm going to post it tomorrow cuz I wanted to draw a cute little cover for it ha. Figured I would answer you in text today though, and then you can have the visual tomorrow <3 First thing I'm going to say is that there is no 'certain way to look' for any gender identity or sexuality, cuz thats important, for those who dont wanna read through this text dump. Dress how you want forever.
SO! *rubs hands together* how Caro found their style! Background to those who havent read my comics, Caro grew up as a super high femme kid with crazy helicopter parents who controlled every aspect of their life, including how they dressed. They participated in pageants, modeling and wore a LOT of pink. Not that Caro didn't like pink, they did, but they liked purple better.
After Sully (highschool sweetheart) left, and Caro was on their own, they cut their hair off in a fit of rage and suddenly had to grow up real quick because they were on their own. Whats that got to do with fashion, RJ? Everything, dear reader! When they left, they had a bunch of Sullys shirts and his battle jacket. All 10 sizes too big of course, so paired the oversized tops with their own jeans, workout shorts etc. They had their cheer sneakers. And that is what they wore for a few months, til they got a job at the local gas station. The gas station employees were like, what is going on here with this little girl wearing too big clothes with a fucked up haircut, so, they pitched together and got this kid a proper haircut, during which Caro tearfully explains they arent a girl at all, they dont know what they are and everything is very scary and please dont fire them. Bev, one of their older co-workers decides they need better clothes and takes them to Seattle to thrift! Caro never thrifted in their life and found themself enamored with tacky 80's clothes and patterns, bright colors, funny tee shirts, etc. They worried, because maybe that wasnt what a boy would wear. Bev tells them theres no such thing as what a boy or a girl would wear, something Caro had never heard before, and that gives them mental permission to gleefully grab all the things they never got to wear growing up. They looked like a roller rink carpet threw up on them. they loved it.
The Gas Station Adults buy them a jacket that fits as well, GasCo purple of course, with their chosen name on the name tag. a symbol of acceptance. Caro started hearing things about genderfluid and nonbinary, and looking into what that meant, and what it could mean for them. Their podcast project, Mil-Liminal goes viral. Goldie, their agent, helps them get on low t. they realize how much fun body hair is and LOOK they can wear crop tops to show off their new tummy trail while still hiding their boobs. Whats even more fun? Getting tattoos. Taking their body back. Making themself into the person THEY want to see, and whats makes them the most happy. Still looking like an arcade carpet threw up on them, still loving it. They get top-surgery. Goldie asks them if they want to do a public face reveal. They've kept themself hidden this entire time, and realize they dont want to do that anymore. They shouldnt have to. They want to show the world this person theyve become. Which also means choosing a signature look for Mil-Liminal.
A Mix of their Highschool Varisty Jacket, and their GasCo Jacket. Sneakers. A nod to the pieces of clothing they always felt comfortable in.
Shorts and crop tops or mesh tops. Show off the tattoos, and the scars they earned becoming the person theyve always been.
Wear their identity on their sleeve, because not everyone can, but they are in a position where they want to make a difference and be seen for those who cant, cuz they know how it feels to be lost and scared and not have any idea how to move forward. Let their voice BE a voice.
A SnapBack. A call back to the first date with their highschool sweetheart, who listened, and put his hat on them and took them out and let them be themself, and loved them for it.
The most important thing to take from this anon, is that there is no Look. There is no way to dress or act or look if you're non binary, its not fashion. The same way clothing has no gender, anyone can wear whatever the fuck makes them happy. Put clothes on that, when you look in the mirror, you feel comfortable and happy. Its a very personal thing, and its about YOU, and how you feel. and your gender journey. Gender and Sexuality is as vast a spectrum as the human condition.
Thank you so much for the ask and inspiring me to make a look book and fashion journey post, I'll put it up tomorrow <3
#Anon#gender journey#fashion#mil liminal#original characters#ask box#caro wears what they want#and that is sometimes hideous button ups#actually the short answer here is that all my characters just dress like me on different days hahahaha#but yeah hope this helps#just be happy when you can clothing can be so fun#i actually have a little excerpt i wrote once where john asks them about their fashion choice#let me know if you wanna see that

we have always been here: documentaries about trans people
documentaries about trans people, starting in the year 1953. I don't speak to filmic quality or whether or not something is problematic, what matters here is simply the testimony and the stamp of existence (including in those where the subject matter is spoken about, rather than getting to speak for themselves)
(I haven't seen every one of these yet, so some of them have slightly shorter texts to go along with them)
while (as you'll see) most of these are US-based movies, they are from all over the world. I'd be curious about whether there are any focused specifically on the intersection of transness and disability, I don't personally know of any, although of many speak to issues with access to healthcare (for example southern comfort)
all the ones that have links connected to them are watchable for free
some of these can be watched for free on the archive, youtube, vimeo, many could do with a few coins thrown their way: many of the movies, for example the the aggressives can be rented on vimeo, transgender tuesdays is free on youtube but accepting donations for trans women of colour, lotus sports club is doing festivals currently and is accepting donations to support the team and the vulnerable trans (now men) who have had to leave it to find work, call her ganda is accepting donations to support the family's legal costs in bringing justice for their daughter
remember, finding the stories that have been graciously shared is one thing, supporting our community is the next step

MULTIMUSE QUESTIONAIRE !!
RULES: Answer the questions with the Muses that would best fit the answers. Bonus if you give details why.
TAGGED BY: @ask-thedepressedkidatthetable
TAGGING: @miidnighters @heartxshaped-bruises, @dramatiique, @starrymused, whoever wants to really!
Answering this based on all of my muses between all 4 of my blogs since this blog is technically not a multi-muse. Thanks for tagging me!
1) Rank your softest Muse and your toughest Muse. (Personality-wise)
Ohh...That's a tricky one...I thinks softest is a tie between Rhys and Sam. Ah! Or maybe even Daianira or Hypnos! When I first think of softest, though, my brain goes to Rhys. He's always been my precious little boy. Toughest? Jazzi or Chell, maybe E. I think Chell comes to mind first, though.
2) Which Muse would blow through $1000 quickly?
Aurelius Bridgers...Because $1,000 is nothing to zem.
3) Do any of them have nicknames? Is there a meaning behind them?
Rhys & August have a couple of my fave nicknames I've written for characters. Rhys' being Reese Cup & August's is AJ or Almond Joy. They typically only really use those names with each other, like sweet little brotherly affections, but August will use AJ with people he's close to...Samuel's nicknames include Sami, Sam, and even Arthur which is his last name or Arlo when he was a kid. Aurelius has lots of little nicknames mostly because people struggle with spelling and/or pronouncing his name and it's just easier that way--his stage name is Aurora. Daianira goes by Daylight or Day because they find it pretty and it's easier to pronounce/spell for most humans. I also gave that to them because it reflects their personality very well--sunshine. Elizabeth goes by "E" because they hate their name and it's more gender neutral, which they prefer. Leo (@gollldrush) calls Ambrose Rose which I find absolutely adorable. Jhazala typically goes by Jazz or Jazzi again just to shorten the name. Some people call Demetrius Demi, but don't ever say it to his face because he'll smite you. James hates nicknames and would be absolutely livid if anyone called him Jim or any shorter version of James. Shimi goes by Sami or Sam sometimes as a sort of "human" name in homage to his transition from living with xyr jinn brethren to living amongst humans.
4) Are any of them up-to-speed on the latest trends? Anyone more old school?
OK that last one was long, I'll try to make this quick: Sami is very old school. Aurora is trendy as hell. Rhys is old school or at least just somewhere in the middle because he doesn't care. August is a mix of old school and trendy--he likes what he likes and sometimes that's old stuff sometimes that's new stuff. Chell, Ambrose, Luna, Demetrius, Jazzi, and maybe Skylar are all what I'd consider up-to-speed on trends. James, Shimi, Sarai, and Day are all a little old school. The rest just don't care so they're probably aware of trends but don't pay much attention to it.
5) Who has the best relationship with their siblings?
Rhys & August, of course.
6) Karaoke night! Who is likely to grab the mic first and bust out a tune?
Aurelius, for sure! Godly voice and proud of it. August would try to talk Rhys into it, but he'd definitely decline and August wouldn't push him too much. Luna would probably jump up there too. Maybe Ambrose because they'd probably be drunk as all get-out.
7) Who is least likely to enter a beauty pageant/model?
Oh gosh, um...Probably Rhys & August would be least likely, but also Elizabeth, Day, and obviously Sarai would require a lot of convincing. Hypnos probably wouldn't either and probably not Hermes.
8) If your Muses visited a haunted house where actors scare you, who would panic and who would be unfazed?
Muses that would panic: Sami, Hypnos, Day, Ambrose, Luna (but she'd be enjoying it), Aurelius (also probably enjoying it just a little)
Muses that would be panicking on the inside: Shimi, Rhys, August, E
Muses that would be unfazed: James, Sarai, Demetrius, Hermes, Zagreus, Chell
Muses that would be kicked out for punching an actor: Chell (maybe if they happened to spook her), Elizabeth, Skylar, Jazzi
9) Are any of your Muses particular about taking certain modes of transportation?
Rhys takes the bus or bikes a lot because he can't drive. He definitely prefers biking over bus, though, and is known to bike in the rain so long as it isn't storming. Aurora loves to take his convertible whenever he can have the top down. Sami prefers not to drive even though he can so he'll take the bus sometimes. Day will usually walk because she can't go very far anyway and she's taken a couple of taxis but has definitely gotten in trouble for not having money to pay for the trip.
10) Share a little-known fact about any Muse.
Oh gosh...but I have so many muses with so many little facts! Here, I'll throw a few out there... Rhys is trans-male--something that I've gone back on in the past but recently brought back again because it just feels right for him even though his faceclaim isn't trans. Sami doesn't talk about it at all or even know how to put a name to it, but he's definitely queer in terms of gender, which is why I use different pronouns for them even though they would never ask someone to do it because they're still learning. Aurora has a verse that's technically his canon in which about 10 years from his main verse he contracts a deadly disease that is extremely rare and most typically developed in demi-gods and basically dies in his mid-thirties! Little known part of that is that it's also the same disease that killed his mother.
#ask-thedepressedkidatthetable#thank you sm i love doing these!!#⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚𝔱𝔬 𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔫𝔢 𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔰𝔢𝔩𝔣 𝔟𝔢 𝔱𝔯𝔲𝔢 ·˚ ༘₊·꒰➳: ̗̀➛ 𝓂𝓊𝓈𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 ⋆˚✿˖°#‧₊˚✧[whimsical wordsmith]✧˚₊‧╰┈➤ ❝ [ooc] ❞#not including my wonka blog in this mostly bc i forgot abt it but also like it's a canon character so lol

More bad (or in some cases pretty good) Xmas movie reviews here! I’ve tried some odd ones.
EDITED TO INCLUDE:
Christmas on Mistletoe Farm: This was EFFING CUTE. Super British. Quirky kids in hand knitted stuff and big Wellies. Baby barn animals everywhere. Comedic English overacting. As charming as a mouse in a teapot. I would watch it every year twice. The colors alone are scrumptious. 9/10
* Christmas Inheritance - As stereotypical as Christmas romance movies get. Small town, lonely innkeeper, main character returns to town to find the magic of Christmas by helping with some pageant or festival or whatnot. Bland but mainly pleasant but stop making characters do that slow head shake while sincerely singing thing, it’s weird . 4/10
A Christmas Movie Christmas - A fun swing at typical Christmas movies. Christmas magic transports two sisters into a Christmas movie of their own where they wake up every day with their hair and makeup already done and cookies already baked. Parts of it are funny, but it led me to the disturbing revelation that all B actors wear false teeth. 6/10
Christmas Chronicles 2: I was excited for this. Hot Santa, Belsneckel, Yule Cat. Nope. Bad. Please don’t bother, you’ll soil the first movie. 1/10
Dash & Lily : in spite of being about New York, this short series is really good and sweet. It’s a scavenger hunt of literature and romance and the art of loving your own weirdness against the backdrop of Christmas. It’s charming and colorful. Definitely not perfect, it is a high school aged series based on YA romance and that can sometimes lead to “youthful” acting, but it is good and I appreciated it and the music was superb. 9/10
Noelle - dang, I really liked this. It seems a discredit to say it’s like a gender bent Elf, but that is the broadest definition. Very warm and loving. 10/10
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol - this is the animated Netflix version. I have mixed feelings. I thought they took the art in some really interesting places. I thought the music was pretty terrible. I thought they did the lower budget animation thing where some characters look amazing and some look poorly thought out. I thought Scrooge was weirdly hot. 6/10
Mickey and Friends: Duck The Halls - Newer style of Mickey Mouse animation that is part Ren and Stimpy and part midcentury modern, which is awesome. Donald Duck stays in the snowy north for the winter and literally falls apart from the cold, lots of body horror. Hilarious. 10/10
Jingle All The Way - I know, it is weird that as a 90s kid, I had never seen this. I was promised a bad movie and I’m slightly disappointed that I loved the hell out of it. From Arnold expecting us to believe that he works in mattress sales and saying “you’re my numbah one custahmahh” with a cheesy grin to a brawl of underground gang Santas to Phil Hartman having the balls to hit on Arnold’s wife and moaning obscenely over the phone about how good her cookies are while Arnold yells “PUT DAT COOKIE DOWN”, it’s all amazing. But really the best part is the unexpectedly complex buildup of a real hero/villain relationship - the connection, the offer of friendship that gets rejected, the ensuing battle that becomes an insane bid for revenge, culminating in a real costumed fight that ends - in the true spirit of Christmas - with the police hauling away a grown man in a latex bodysuit clutching a toy he has ruthlessly stolen from a child that would grow up to become Darth Vader. 15/10

Despite that, he is still very supportive of her. Friends: She's lived in New York her entire life so these friends could be ones from childhood all the way up to the present day. She could've met them on set or at a local shop in Manhattan. Enemies: Living in New York all her life, she's made some impressions on people that rubbed them the wrong way. She doesn't like them either, to be honest. Rivals: The modeling world can be challenging enough without someone trying to steal her thunder. In front of the cameras, they're best friends but behind the scenes, they secretly want to outdo one another. Exes: She's had her romances. These exes can be from childhood all the way up to the present day. She's usually the one to end things between them before they get too serious. She has trust issues. Future romance: She loves love even though she's afraid of it. She's just afraid to lose someone again so she doesn't really put herself out there like that anymore but she wants to try.

Multiracial Companionship: To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar
Saddled with potentially one of the most verbose and ridiculous titles in cinema history, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar is the campy romp of three New York City drag queens, played by Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo who find themselves stranded in a midwestern town after their car breaks down on their way to Hollywood to compete in the Miss Drag Queen of America Pageant. The girls take the town by storm, form wholesome friendships with the classy ladies of Snydersville, Illinois (makeover alert!), navigate tensions with the town’s law enforcement, and chaos and glitz abound.
To Wong Foo represents an imagining of the multiracial buddy movie interested largely in the compartmentalization of identity categories with a concerted interest in gender and sexuality and a resistance to intersectional understandings of identity categories. The main characters being White, Black, and Latino is a fact the film acknowledges with the cinematic ideal of a post-racial U.S.--most importantly, To Wong Foo reminds us, the girls are drag queens, and their racial positionality comes second. The hierarchical ordering of their internal differential social orders that imbue their embodiment firstly with sexuality and gender rather than race comments on the film’s attempt to make a film by and for queer people in response to the growing conservative fear of a departure from traditional values and attempts to largely overwrite race.
youtube
My inspiration for the script came from watching the religious right videotape The Gay Agenda. There’s a scene where they show drag queens going through a town, and the narrator is warning viewers that these people will take over your town, and I thought, ‘Well, that would be fun.’
-Douglas Carter Beane, Screenwriter, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar
In, “The Black Image in Protective Custody: Hollywood's Biracial Buddy Films of the Eighties,” Guerrero explains that black people “appear on the screen in the 1980s predominantly in the biracial ‘buddy formula,’ which reveals all the strategies by which the industry contains and controls the black filmic image and conforms it to white expectations.” Noxeema, the film’s main Black character played by Wesley Snipes quips about Blackness and her status in this small town is effectively placed in the protective custody of whiteness, severed from the Black community surrounded entirely by non-Black people and at an increased risk of violence in this small town. She at one point jokes that "the last Black person to stay [in this town] was Sam Cooke," a prolific Black soul artist who was famously murdered in a motel.
The racial tensions in the movie are tonally consistent with the film's self-aware insistence on its own levity, poking fun at itself and acknowledging racial and gender regimes, but ultimately suggesting they can be overcome.
Noxeema: You and your causes! Look, that child is Latin. You don’t want to get mixed up in all that Latin mess. She might turn out to be a Sandinista or something.
Vida: Noxeema Jackson! I have to admit that I am shocked and just a little bit saddened by you. I mean you of all people. Hon, I remember the first time I laid eyes on a certain ebony enchantress in the rough, and how through styling and the occasional makeup tip I helped her look a little bit less like Moms Mabley. And who would think that ebony enchantress would one day share a title with moi.
In an atmosphere where whiteness is presented as the absolute authority, the exchange fails to fully present itself as an examination as racism among people of color and ultimately portrays Vida, who is white, as the gatekeeper of Noxeema's successful identity as a drag queen.
To Wong Foo, ultimately, is optimistic about the possibilities for a multiracial, post-gender regime world--it imagines a world where drag queens take over the town and racial tensions can be assuaged with the power of friendship. It mostly neutralizes race as a factor in the marginalization of the girls, and its depiction of state violence at the hands of an idiotic, bumbling sheriff who is scared of change holds a mirror to conservatism and distorts it like a fun house in return.
youtube
Questions:
How does the film's casting of three mainstream straight, male actors as drag queens contribute to the racial and gender politics of To Wong Foo?
What might the levity of the film regarding racial and gendered violence contribute to it?
How does drag as a performance art relate to racial embodiment in general? How might it play into the film specifically?

At HS, the cultural festival's main attraction is divided like this:
1st year - Sports
The 1st yeard are divided in 4 teams, so classes can mix and allow the students to meet others than their classmates. Obviously, Sanji and Zoro ended up in diferent teams, and started competing like two crazy man.
2nd year - School play
Someone gave Luffy the main role but no script, so he did whatever he wanted and the rest had to work around what he was doing. At first, Nami was angry that she (the best queen to ever exist) and Usopp (responsible for special effects, and surprisingly quite good at that) lost to Luffy's class, but she wasn't that surprised about the outcome, for Luffy was charismatic as few people were.
3rd year - Crossdressing beauty pageant
Each class would pick a representant and the rest was left responsible for makeup, clothes and preparations. Law, Sabo, Sanji and Nami were chosen to represent their classes.
Nami knew she would win from the start, because she was sure she would be beautiful no matter the gender.
Sanji almost killed someone when they appointed him.
Sabo was happy to be chosen, and had no problem with using a skirt.
Law was chosen because his class thought it would be funny, but were left speechless when he appeared with perfect makeup on his face (thanks to Corazon). He was also a bit slim at the time, so he ended up looking quite good in woman's clothes, but he didn't get even near the podium because no one really cared about him.

Yosuke and Teddrick Hanamura, I am going to miss you idiots.
I have written an entire post on the tragedy of Yosuke. He is, like Chie, very much a work in progress. You can look at the arc of his character like a lobbed ball and guess his eventual trajectory and landing. I hope for Yosuke, it will be a soft one. I fear instead he will bust an ankle on impact and cry about it, but he'll be okay.
Also someone please wife this man before he winds up married to some woman in the most agonizing comphet marriage of all time. Yosuke is a homosexual and by god he needs a boyfriend.
Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: ZEEEEEERO. He's a High Priestess.
aaaaaaaand this is the second time i cried playing P4G, the first being Kanji's Max SLink scene. Oh my god the tears.
This fucking character should be nothing by irritation. On paper, on script, Teddie is annoying and too much to handle and overbearing (ha). But like, Sam Riegel is the fucking all-star winner of the entire cast imo for making Teddie work. I have been continuously baffled by how much I adore this mascot bear, but his story was so genuinely moving and affecting, he's my second favorite character in the game. The fucking PATHOS.
I am so happy that Teddie made himself into a real boy. If he didn't, Nanako wouldn't have made it. The world is richer for his self-decided presence in it.
Love you Teddie.
Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: 12 out of 10, it's immaculate from start to finish.
I have such mixed emotions on Naoto.
Going into this game, Naoto was the character I feared the most. There is a lot of right-minded anger about how Naoto is handled by the game. As I said before, I tempered my expectations dramatically for playing.
Naoto disappointed me but not because the Gender Thing. With the clarity of hindsight and some context from a trusted source, I get what they were going for with Naoto. But while they were always a fucking gem in the MSQ and group scenes, Naoto's SLink was one of the weakest in the game. I think that at some point, the writers (or someone who had say over the writing, lbr) got gunshy around what they created with Naoto, and as soon as he joins the party, it feels like all the interesting parts of his set-up are shelved.
Which I don't know which I would prefer honestly? A solid attempt at dealing with Naoto And Gender that winds up being a huge fuckup, or this defanged version of a character arc, where all Naoto's potential is visible in the MSQ but just goes poof in every other scene.
That said, her fashion is INCREDIBLE and she gave us multiple incredible moments in the story. Walking out on the beauty pageant and still winning? King shit.
Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: Difficult to say since so much of Naoto's arc feels completely aborted. 4 out of 10 for what was actually on the screen canonically.
I don't have much to say for Yumi! Except in her final scene she sasses Reverie for running away from being her boyfriend, which is funny. ALSO SHE SAYS SHE'S GOING TO GO INTO POLITICS AND I LITERALLY SAID THAT WHEN WE FIRST MET, THAT SHE'D BE GREAT IN POLITICS? Holy shit what a called shot, go me.
But Yumi unfortunately innately suffers from being a Sun arcana after the shocking good and profound P3P Sun Slink. It was an impossible act to follow. She's fun tho! I liked her!
Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: eh. 3 out of 10. sorry.
God what a roller coaster of a pair.
Dojima was frankly a piece of shit for a LOT of this game, albeit a well-meaning one. The moment he sent Reverie after a crying Nanako rather than going himself really truly stressed my dedication to completing his SLink, I wanted to bail so badly. But his portrayal in the game is deeply sympathetic. The game is highly aware he's a fucking mess and a shit father, and it gives him space to become better. Which I like better than a hopeless case. It was real touch and go there for a while though.
Nanako really was the glue that held the plot together, wasn't she. It was kind of heavy-handed. Like, I didn't know what was going to happen to Nanako, but I did call very early that something was going to happen to her, to propel the plot. As this game's Justice Child, she's much weaker than Ken honestly and as much as it pains me to say, she should have been Temperance. There is very little judgement passed by her, there is no great clarity from her. She's a child, and she's wronged and neglected, and those things get better, but there is no recourse.
(Which is okay with me as a rehabilitationist myself.)
Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: VERY LOW FOR BOTH TBH. 2 out of 10. Dojima and the Fox should have swapped, I am dead serious.
okay i would have fucked this up but a friend told me i needed to say no here or i'd miss the true ending. it'll have to wait until tomorrow, as it is midnight and I gotta SLEEP.
tomorrow, we finish P4G.

I seem to remember a swan emblem over Odette's crib and while I may be wrong, the curtain pulls in the beauty pageant DEFINITELY also had swans on them 🤔
And also tbh I love the idea of Rothbart choosing a swan because it's something Odette loved or was connected to. Maybe he just saw it on her locket while he was Doing His Spying, he certainly realized it was too important to leave out of the copy-Odette (I know why she's a swan in the original story, but that's very long)
If we want it to make any sort of sense, Odette wore the dress and allowed Uberta's hairdo as a fuck you to Rothbart -she liked swans and he's not gonna take that from her (it's admittedly a pretty dress, too).
As for Derek running the ball, I always got the impression he was trying to turn whatever his mother had planned (and he definitely suspected something, she's done it before, since he says ANOTHER ONE of your beauty pageants lol) into his wedding, hence his asking where Bromley is because he needs a best man. Or at least a proposal. If he was gonna make such an important vow at least the place could look nicer xD
I LOVED THE TUBA THING LMAO Rogers is the best -also if you notice, he looks supremely annoyed at the "rubato" thing, probably because he knows what he's talking about.
Yes, it's Chamburg or Chamberg.
I thought my life was a lie irt the swans but I went back and I know why I got mixed up! In the dub I watched as a kid Puffin says "su alteza" which means his or her highness but is gender neutral without added context so I always assumed he meant Odette. It would have been a wink to the fact that in the original story, there were a bunch other swan girls in that lake. Shame it's just Derek again pffff
(Also small aside, came to mind because of the beauty pageant: I was OBSESSED with the level of sparkle they put in the purple wigged girl's dresses and spent my entire childhood looking for a princess dress that had that much. I was extremely disappointed 🤣)
Btw, forgot to say I'd absolutely love an Odette Wedding Dress post! It would be so cool
Sorry, but I see no swan emblem above her crib nor do I see any swans during the beauty pageant. You're going to have to show me a screenshot yourself cause I've watched and paused at this movie three times now, and I don't see more swans than the ones I mentioned in the first post and now I'm annoyed I can't find any xD

thinking about how fucking good whip it is. oh my god. the way it represents femininity in such a humanizing way. the way it says that womanhood is subjective, that it's up to the individual to decide what being is a girl means to them. the way it tells us that femininity is not one thing, but a complex, layered subject, but it's also not the end-all. being a woman is infinite, it's layered, it's mixed, it's good and it's bad, it's messy and it's ugly, it's scary, but it's sacred- not in the mysterious way, but being a girl- whatever that means to you- is a relationship you build with yourself over time. it's not inherent. it's not set in stone. it's not a neat little list of traits you either meet or don't.
the scene where bliss is on the bus and there's an elderly woman who has blue hair. "I like your hair" "thanks, I do it myself!" the overwhelming sense of connection between two people who have nothing in common. the message that women don't just wilt to nothing when they age. the absolute beauty of individuality. the knowledge that women have always been defining themselves by their own standards, and always will. this scene alone carries 1000x more meaning and passion than anything that happened in the barbie movie.
the scene where maggie mayhem talks about her son. the message that motherhood is not the end of independence, that being a mom doesn't make you any less of a badass. the representation of girls who are not traditionally maternal breaking boundaries and being mothers, anyway.
bliss' entire arc. wanting to be herself. not wanting to be pressured into the traditional gender roles that dictate her life. going through heartbreak and realizing that it's not even close to the end of her story, because relationships don't define her. she's not a booksmart career woman, she's not a pageant queen, she's not a femme fatale, she's violent, she's messy, she gets ugly at times, she has no corporate dreams. she doesn't want to go to college, she wants to move to austin and do roller derby. the message that she is just as valuable and her dreams and wants are just as important as any other woman's.
this movie is so good. I love elliot page. I hope he knows that. I love drew barrymore too. thank you drew

PHOTOGRAPHY RESEARCH PT.7
PATI SOLOMONA TYRELL
Pati Solomona is an Auckland photographer exploring his Samoan heritage and queer identity with a mix of photography, film and performance art. Pati’s work has been in many exhibitions all around New Zealand and in 2018 he became the youngest person nominated for the ‘Walters Prize’ which is New Zealand’s most prestigious contemporary art award. I will be looking at a mix of Pati Solomona’s work like ‘fāgogo’ and ‘fafswag’ which were my two personal favourite bodies of his work.
Fagogo is a moving image film that works to honour pasifika traditions of storytelling and also to unpack the white colonial gaze that has been placed on queer brown bodies. The moving image represents stories and spoken fables that get passed down from generation to generation. Fagogo actually means fable in Samoan. All of the elements of the film are very well researched by Tyrell himself and then used in his directing of the moving film. From what I’ve been able to see of the film, its done in a black studio space which creates a very dramatic shadows onto the figures in Pati’s work which is only light up by colourful studio lighting like reds and blues. The people are dressed up both traditionally and with elements of modern expression like the makeup and painted nails which is another nod to the breaking down of strict gender roles. The people sometimes merge together creating an interesting form as the mythical storytelling is conveyed.
I also loved Fafswag which is an exploration into the queer Auckland ballroom and vogue scene. To vogue is a modern house dance which is super stylised and came out around the 1960s from ballrooms which were underground queer spaces made up mostly by LGBTQ+ African Americans and Latinos. It’s where drag really flourished from and it’s where drag pageants are hosted. Fafswag is a site and exhibition made to be explored and it features a bunch of queer pasifika artists performing in drag and doing the vogue dance style in a bunch of places around Auckland. It’s also very interactive as you can pick a ‘character’ (one of the featured artists and dancers) and then pick the location the two will dance. Then after watching to two dance off you can even pick a winner and then it lets you learn about the story of your chosen artist. I had a lot of fun checking out this website as I’m a sucker for an interactive exhibition and learning tool because it really hooks me in and gets me excited to learn. Also just this subject matter is something that I care a lot about. The filmography here too is also really astounding, there were times I wasn’t sure if the people were actually filmed in the physical location or if it was editing but just because the editing was incredibly smooth and the coloured studio lighting making an appearance again amplifies each person in almost an unbelievable way.

So I need to start queueing or I just need to post once a day which may be what I do but behold Nic was and still is a beauty pageant contestant and did the little kid ones I don't want to over ramble but with a mix of surety and confusion of gender, a mom ecstatic to have a girl, and him having a natural competitive spirit he ended up making it pretty far his first go round and continued doing it for years to come I don't condone beauty pageants especially child beauty pageants irl but I love the idea things are better in fiction and it was super fitting for what I wanted for his character

Chiming in with some info about nonbinary identities! Please remember there is no wrong way to be trans!
Some people have a gender, and that is their gender all the time, and some find that their experience of gender changes frequently. This is okay and normal! Maybe you like being a girl when you go out but a boy at home. Maybe you have full days when you're a girl or a boy, and some days when you don't feel like either. Perhaps your gender changes several times a day. I think of gender the same way I think of pants. I can wear them or not, but there's tons of options.
Maybe you only have one gender- there's so many ways to do that. You could be in the intermediate space - a mix of male & female (or "between" the two). You could be sort-of-but-not-really a boy! You might describe yourself as a girl when asked, but understand internally that your gender is more nebulous & less concrete. You could be gender: (null). There's so many options!
Some things that I find helpful to remember:
Gender doesn't have to be set in stone. You might find words you like to describe yourself only to reconsider years later and realize they don't fit anymore
You are allowed to love yourself as you are. You are allowed to love yourself-in-progress. The journey may be tough, but it doesn't have to be painful. Look for joy & hold it when you can
Gender can be fun! Enjoy yourself! Experiment! Wear a cocktail dress with brogues! Go full grunge with added pageant makeup! Pick the "gendered" signifiers that *you* like
Please always remember that there is a huge, welcoming community of vibrant, brilliant, helpful queers out there. Ask as many questions as you need to and then ask more
I'm available for dms if you need (any one. All of you). Welcome home, I look forward to you becoming yourself
So like is it normal to question if you want to be a big or a girl and thinking that the whole transitioning thing just seems like too much of a hassle and shit? Like if I could be a girl I would but the whole process just seems generally arduous and annoying.
Idk what I’m even asking.
questioning your gender is something a lot of people do, but cis people tend to come to the answer very very quickly ("am i trans?" "..." "ok no lol") if you are repeatedly questioning your gender to the point ur reaching out to trans people there is a high chance that you are trans, and could be worth looking into. also, if one of the main reasons you're on the fence is because "it seems like its too much of a hassle" ask yourself if u would transition if it wasnt an intentional hassle created by the government, and was instead very easy. if the answer is yes, then you are probably trans

cw: a bit of an unhealthy mindset, talk about children’s pageants, gold-digging, and if you have a problem with his sexuality and gender feel free to screw off! my mc is a bit different than the typical all life is good, everyone loves me, so hopefully this doesn’t sound edgy?? yes he’s a gold digging gay creature.
picrew x, edited hairstyle and colours.
<33 headcanons grim soon, just had to speedrun and post this! in support of posts like this, and this, as a way to openly announce that if this offends you then go ahead and block, I’ve decided to (poorly) draw my mc despite not being an artist! they are genderfluid and currently use he/him, but his pronouns do change quite a bit, during his first summoning he used she/her, and later he/him, and back and forth. he doesn’t care if people misuse his pronouns, though- so long as they respect him and how he chooses to dress/act. please note this is my own gender and do not call me confused.
he originates from shibuya, japan. from a young age he had participated, due to his mom’s desires, for children’s beauty pageants. she ended up wracking a massive debt from the countless years that she ended up leaving the family, where he still believes one day she will return- as long as he pays off her debts. he lives alone with his dad who mainly works, and doesn’t actually go home often, as he’s poor, he makes a lot of rich friends or dates the rich kids of his school or neighboring places.
he’s biromantic asexual, his type is mainly those who have money. he’s not shy to admit to being a gold digger, because he hates being reminded of his debts and how he’s poor. as of late though, he’s come to understand that his looks aren’t everything that matter after coming to the college, where his friends won’t bend over and serve him like back at home, just because he’s a pretty dumb people pleaser- something he has mixed feelings about.
if he weren’t from another world he’d definitely be amongst the pomefiore students as his makeup skills are high tier, and his outfits are always beautiful despite seemingly having no money. to him, beauty and money are both very important as they mean he’s closer to bringing his mom back home.
hope my bad art doesn’t look eye-bleeding…
Yuma Hoshishima
age: 16
gender & orientation: Bio male but Genderfluid, Biromantic Asexual
dorm: Ramshackle, Prefect
from: Shibuya, Japan
class: 1-A
best subject: Animal Linguistics (wants to pet them)
worst subject: Physical Ed (refuses to sweat, constantly falls)
unique magic: none
The Ramshackle dorm prefect, who makes it very well known they came from a different world, during the entrance ceremony. they tend to change their pronouns and really hates when someone calls them poor, or tells them to face reality. they know fully well that their mom will never return no matter how beautiful, rich, or famous they become and yet they still have hope deep down. they’re cynical, and cunning with a love for the high life, but hides behind a cute smile and adorable outfits, innocently draining a person’s pockets. as of late, however, they’ve come to stop putting so much distrust in others and toned down their snobby behavior, actually working hard, due to their newfound friendships.
He sucks up to people he believe will benefit him but after Ace and a flustered Deuce, someone who had never been flirted with in his life, rejected his flirting to make them do his work, he’s come to realize he isn’t the greatest. still definitely and shamelessly flirts with the jocks, and any rich kid flaunting their money, but is now a social media influencer who does part-time modeling to afford expenses he wants, not needs. he’s been rejected and put in his place by a lot of students around him, such as Riddle, Leona, Jamil, and even Vil, telling him to stop thinking his pretty face will get him far in life. he’s extremely used to his pampered parasite lifestyle though, and still needs a lot of work.
he’s a casual flirt and easily breaks up with people. so far he’s dated about 5 students. he’s trying to go for one of each dorm, but the other half of his conscience says to stop casual flirting. however, he finds it enjoyable to cuddle Riddle who rejected him at least 10x and ask him out on a date before pouting, and moving to the next person he knows will reject him. Ace has asked if he simply enjoys being rejected, and with a bright smile, he responded he loved when he was rejected- as it meant he wasn’t just a pretty face anymore.
his mental health isn’t the best, being a prior experience where couldn’t look himself in the mirror without feeling disgust after his mom ‘left’ him and his dad behind and sometimes still feels upset to look at his body thinking he’s not pretty enough and maybe if he were just taller and slimmer like her, a gorgeous and bright young lady, she’d say she was proud. he really hates comments about his body being “natural” and gorgeous as though he didn’t work hard to restrain himself and try to stay in the ideal pageant body type.
he isn’t shipped with anyone, as of late. he’d probably not be open to relationships with friends due to a fear of losing them as he finds himself happier rejected and able to act like himself, a scumbag, rather than cute and cuddly pouting and winking for money like a hottub twitch streamer.
his mom is dead and he knows. he had always known but chose to believe what his dad said, she left with the debt as he couldn’t handle the thought of her never coming back and lovingly embracing him while saying everything would be alright- he lives in a delusion that she will one day return proudly telling him he’s worked hard enough to pay off her debts before she could knowing full well that will never happen, as her condition caused her to have withered away. not sure how in-depth to make an intro post?? but could definitely make a whole toyhou.se on him/her. current you can refer to them as he, until i explicitly state they’re feeling feminine that they or month, or feel free to use them. they don’t use neopronouns like ver, xe, so their gender just flows between m and f.
thank you for reading! this was a little heavy, but to me an OC specifically means a realistic person with their own struggles, ugly side, and pretty side. not everyone has the ideal mental and physical health, Mary Sue personality, and easily changes their personality or mindset instantaneously. please do not write about mental health or disabilities, certain cultures, or other things you do not do your research about- I tread on heavy topics but do not do it to insult others. it’s very obvious my oc does not have the healthiest of mindsets, and that is not something you should aspire to have, as well. you are beautiful and perfect the way you are- the point of his mentality is shaped via his environment though, as whether intentional or not pageant children do feel stess and pressure which affects them later on, only believing that looks matter most. personally, pageants are disgusting if they’re meant for children and i dislike them with every fiber of my being. if you think forcing kids into beauty contents and forcing babies to teens to dress up for people to constantly judge doesn’t have its toll on mental health, please do not interact and learn about sympathy.

here is where i will put all my links
bio/about is below the read more. will be sparse for now but once i figure her out more ill revamp a time or two.
note: alluding to abuse/power imbalance in a domestic relationship, bullying.
Full Name: Marinette Marilyn Scotts Birthdate: not sure yet Birthplace: northern new york Group: cultist Occupation: housewife
Talents and Skills: many domestic/”feminine” skills. cleaning, cooking, gardening, sewing, hair, beauty, etc. quite good at maths and other practical things (like baking). Hobbies:
Gender Orientation: cis woman Sexual Orientation: heterosexual Relationship Status: married Family Members: husband, one child (named rose) Family Dynamics: husband can be controlling, and marnie is very submissive to his will usually. she loves rose dearly and actively spoils her. perhaps treats her a bit like her mom did, buying her dresses, cute little accessories, etc. her daughter is almost as always put together as she is. Education: she didn’t graduate high school.
Illnesses and/or Disabilities: will fill out when i get to know her better Personality Strengths: convivial, optimistic, kind, elegant. Personality Weaknesses: ambivalent, confused, hollow, vague. Social Standing in Town/Reputation: she’s sweet, and very kind, almost to a fault. “oh she wouldn’t hurt a fly” is something people probably say about her. but overall, but most notably she’s especially eccentric, never diving deeper than surface level conversation, and particular topics of discussion. she’s overly active in her church, always participating in fund raisers, events, social gatherings, etc. so there she is very well known, and likely in town, as due to her constantly made-up appearance she probably draws attention.
General History:
She is here only in fragments. Glistening little somethings that might’ve been whole. A piece of her heart is just right there. And a chunk of her brain is over here. Reflecting the sparkle of sunlight and blue skies.
She wasn’ born this way. Nothing is born broken. First you must break. She was born normal, whole. A blonde little girl with wide eyes and cherry chapstick lips (her favorite, the very kind she licked off when no one was looking). So often it was ineffective because she’d just keep eating away the oils and scents, but her tummy tickled with pride — in a little girl’s mind she was just like her mom, lips stained in soft pink lacquer.
At first it happened in little chips and cracks. Isolation from an over protective mother and a father who didn’t care enough to stop her. Marinette was odd, but pretty. So, very pretty and mature-looking for her age. Her mother shoving her in new clothes they couldn’t afford and dressing her up for pageants she seldom won. Her mother would seethe when they lost, and Marnie would just sit.
Ambivalent, vague. Forever unsure. She didn’t know much else than this feeling. She didn’t know much more than this life. Traveling to big town (not city) pageants and rudimentary home schooling. Her father would send money, and when her mom complained, he would just send more. Then Marnie broke.
She buried her mom in shiny black maryjanes and sequins and frills. A get up that would’ve made her mom grin from ear to ear. It was so hot — Marnie still feels the stick of sweat-mixed hairspray dripping down her forehead. She remembers so angrily washing it off.
Her father thrust her into a public school, where she was learning two grades below her age. It was hard and didn’t suit her. Unsure, perpetually lost, she never quite commit herself to a sound academic foundation. Unsure, perpetually lost, she was open for ridicule from both her age and grade related peers. Her hair constantly tangled in barbed giggles and daggered comments. Here they would break her in chunks now. Bits of flesh and hair glistening. Her pretty face cracking. Reflecting the sparkle of the sunlight and blue skies. But they moved on quickly. As children do when they become teens. She puts herself back together with glue and tape.
For some years this works. Time after time, Marnie patches herself together. She’s a school art project, shoddily made and poorly engineered. Her surface design is alright, but underneath she is only Elmers and duct. She keeps everything surface level because she wouldn’t dare dive deeper. She’s good at practical things, where instructions can be read and simply followed. She loves the nostalgia of dressing up, of high maintenance beauty. But there’s a hollow-ness to her.
A feeling that if you push her she might just break. Enter a man. The kind of a man that knows what he wants, and so undeniably sure of himself. It’s curious, isn’t it? His place in life. Who he is. He’s over-powering, but he gives her purpose. Reason. He fills her out. He stuffs her full with all the little things he likes. His favorite meals, the way he wants his home kept, his aspirations, how he likes to fuck. Then they marry, because with him she feels whole and with her he feels control.
Then he knocks her over.
Oops.
