ELOWEN’S SECOND VISIT

a drabble & part of: y/n, ewan and elowen mitchell

summary: elowen returns to the house of the dragon set with you and ewan, eagerly awaiting a reunion with her favorite “uncle” tom glynn-carney. while it’s her second visit, the experience is just as magical as the first, filled with love, warmth, and playful interactions with the cast. elowen’s bright energy lights up the set as she bonds with the actors and crew, especially her beloved uncle tom.

warning: english is not my first language. pure fluff, contains overwhelming amounts of cuteness.

Elowen’s excitement was palpable from the moment you mentioned she’d be visiting the set of House of the Dragon again. Her little feet barely touched the ground as she bounced around the house, eyes wide with anticipation. She clutched the small dragon plushie Ewan had given her from the last visit and couldn’t stop asking when she’d see “Uncle Tom” again. Tom Glynn-Carney, the actor who played Aegon Targaryen, had quickly become her favorite after their first meeting, much to Ewan’s playful chagrin.

You smiled as you gathered her things, watching as she practically danced around the living room in excitement. Ewan, already dressed and ready to go, leaned against the doorway with a grin, arms crossed. “She’s more excited than the first time,” he noted, glancing at you with a wink.

“I think it’s Uncle Tom’s doing,” you teased, shaking your head.

Ewan chuckled. “Of course it is. She’s his biggest fan.”

With Elowen finally ready and everything packed, the three of you made your way to the car. The entire drive to the set was filled with Elowen’s chatter about dragons, knights, and her favorite “pretend uncles.” She even hummed the House of the Dragon theme song as you drove, occasionally asking how much longer until she got to see Tom. You and Ewan exchanged amused glances but couldn’t help but get swept up in her enthusiasm.

When you finally arrived on set, Elowen’s excitement only intensified. The massive castle walls, dark banners, and smoke from the props made everything feel larger than life. Ewan lifted her onto his shoulders, giving her a better view of the bustling scene below. As the cast and crew went about their work, Elowen waved happily, her little hands high in the air.

“Look, Mommy! Daddy!” she exclaimed, pointing toward the familiar sight of the dragons on set. “Dragons!”

“Yes, sweetheart,” you laughed, resting a hand on Ewan’s arm. “But we’re here for someone else too, remember?”

At that moment, a voice called out behind you, one that Elowen immediately recognized. “Is that my favorite little Targaryen?” Tom Glynn-Carney strode over, a broad smile on his face. He was dressed in his regal Aegon attire, which only added to the magic in Elowen’s eyes.

“Uncle Tom!” Elowen squealed, wriggling in Ewan’s arms until he set her down. Without missing a beat, she darted toward Tom, who crouched down just in time to catch her in a big hug.

“Well, hello there, princess,” Tom chuckled, lifting her up and spinning her around gently, much to her delight. “I’ve missed you!”

Elowen giggled, clutching her dragon plushie tightly in one hand while resting her head on his shoulder. “I missed you too, Uncle Tom! Can we play dragons today?”

Tom feigned deep thought, raising an eyebrow. “Hmm… I think I can make that happen.” He glanced at you and Ewan with a playful grin. “Mind if I steal her for a bit?”

Ewan, ever the protective father, crossed his arms with a mock-serious expression. “Only if you promise to return her in one piece.”

“Deal,” Tom laughed, holding Elowen up like she was flying. “Come on, princess, let’s find some dragons.”

As Tom carried Elowen toward the set, a few other cast members noticed and waved. Emma D’Arcy, who played Rhaenyra, approached with a warm smile. “Well, if it isn’t our little visitor again,” they said, their eyes lighting up as they saw Elowen.

“Hi!” Elowen waved back enthusiastically from Tom’s arms, clearly enjoying all the attention.

Emma ruffled her hair gently. “How have you been? Are you ready to see more dragons today?”

Elowen nodded eagerly. “Yes! And I’m gonna fly with Uncle Tom!”

“Is that so?” Emma chuckled, glancing at Tom. “Looks like you’ve got your hands full today, Aegon.”

Tom smirked. “What can I say? I’m a popular uncle.”

You and Ewan stood back, watching the scene unfold with smiles. It was heartwarming to see how much love the cast had for your daughter. They didn’t treat her like a simple visitor—she was family. You noticed Matt Smith, who played Daemon, walking over next, his hands casually tucked into his costume pockets.

“Well, well, well,�� Matt drawled with a smirk. “Look who’s stealing the show again.” He winked at Elowen, who beamed in response.

“Uncle Matt!” she giggled, clearly having assigned honorary “uncle” titles to all of Ewan’s co-stars.

Matt gave a mock bow. “At your service, princess. What mischief are you getting up to today?”

Before Elowen could answer, Tom chimed in, “Flying dragons, of course.”

Matt raised an eyebrow. “Flying dragons, huh? Sounds dangerous. You’d better keep an eye on her, Aegon. She might take over the throne if you’re not careful.”

Elowen, ever quick to play along, puffed out her chest proudly. “I’m gonna be the queen of dragons!”

“That’s the spirit,” Matt grinned, offering her a high-five.

As the day went on, Elowen explored the set with Tom, her eyes wide in wonder as she watched the actors rehearse scenes and the crew work behind the scenes. She was particularly fascinated by the dragons—especially when Tom lifted her up so she could “fly” with them. You and Ewan followed closely behind, content to let her enjoy every moment of the magic around her.

At one point, Tom knelt beside her, pointing out one of the large dragon props being prepped for a scene. “Think you could ride that one someday?”

Elowen, with all the confidence of a true dragon queen, nodded. “I could! I’m not scared!”

Tom smiled softly, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. “That’s because you’re the bravest little Targaryen I know.”

The rest of the visit was filled with laughter, warmth, and joy as Elowen soaked up the love and attention from the cast and crew. Even between takes, actors would come over to say hello, some offering small props for her to play with, while others asked about her day. It was clear that she’d become the little darling of the set.

As the day drew to a close, and you and Ewan prepared to head home, Elowen clung to Tom’s leg, not wanting to leave. “Do I have to go, Uncle Tom?”

Tom knelt down, looking at her with a soft smile. “You’ve got to come back soon, though, alright? You’re our good luck charm.”

Elowen nodded solemnly, and Tom gave her one more big hug before setting her down gently. “I’ll miss you, princess,” he said, his voice warm.

“I’ll miss you too,” Elowen replied, her eyes already sleepy from the excitement of the day.

As the three of you walked back to the car, with Elowen happily nestled in Ewan’s arms, you glanced back at the set one last time. It was amazing how much love and warmth surrounded your little family there. What started as just another workday had become a cherished memory, filled with laughter and love.

Elowen’s second visit to the set was, without a doubt, a magical one—and you knew it wouldn’t be the last.

001 - THE BACKSTORY

emmeline vance is the happy child of olivia and ashton vance - you would never catch the girl complaining about her parents. yes, you heard her - she came from a happy family – their only baggage was her paternal grandparents but that’s a story for another time. the girl willingly and happily signed up for family vacations, she was proud to be their child – proud of the views that they instilled in her and her strong personality was her love letter to them. the girl was a running faucet – that’s the nicest way her mother could even begin to explain the mess that was emmeline vance. she never knew how to be QUIET.

whether it was a flurry of questions or her being in your face – she was ECCENTRIC to say the least. emmeline vance never shied away from trying to find her footing in this world – whether that was dabbling in various clubs or unearthing her passion-- it was a bit of a surprise when the wild child wounded up as a prefect, emmeline was a busy body. with the shift of her career goals – moving out of the auror direction and possibly moving towards her dream of being a hit-wizard, she needed everything to just align. she didn’t have time to focus on her boy troubles or the family drama, emmeline wanted to make this year about her and she wanted to thrive.

emmeline never learned how to sit tight and hang in there – she wasn’t really known for waiting - she needed to do something. take some action, as selfish as it sounded – do something that made her feel like she was needed. don’t let her sweet rational nature fool you, the girl had a rage that could put you to shame. she had always struggled in the pureblood community – she was proud with how she was raised and the values that were instilled in her, but as she watched the kids she grew up with navigate through those societal pressures that she had escaped, her heart went out for them. 

002 - AESTHETIC

003 - PERSONALITY

Emmeline had always been a tad tom-boyish, never one to be amongst a giggling flock of girls, she has always been eager to get down and dirty – it wasn’t surprising that she didn’t like the formality that came with being an auror. the clean and to the books approach -- the girl liked colouring outside the lines. 

She’s an all around relaxed human being, she never willingly goes looking for trouble, but she wasn’t one to bite her tongue – the latter often leading her into trouble.

she was surprisingly empathetic, despite her tendency to be temperamental – she wasn’t judgemental – she enjoyed hearing both sides before assigning a verdict .

Emme was a hugger – if anyone asked, she would clearly state that she got the horrible habit from her mum who always seemed to find a reason to hug her. Whether it be under platonic or romantic circumstances – she always found it to be a comfortable way of showing her affection. Whether she’d like to admit it or not, whenever she was having terrible day – she would always find herself craving for a hug – it was a semblance of reassurance to her.

If she was riddled with far too much anxiety – too overwhelmed that even pacing wouldn’t help – she usually found herself on the pitch. There was something about flying in a quiet stadium – just feeling it all, it calmed her. She felt like she could actually breathe. It wasn’t just the adrenaline rush, for as long as she could remember – she had always felt at ease whilst flying. It was like a second nature to her.

Meidän tulee tehdä niin koska lähtien aina Operation Mockingbirdin synnystä, USA:n valtion ohjelman jota CIA veti kontrolloidakseen massoja valtavirran medialla, useat palkintoja voittaneet journalistit ovat astuneet esiin ja kertoneet salaisuuksia, väittäen että nämä äänitorvet puhuvat tiedustelupalvelujen, valtioiden, korporaatioiden ja eliittiryhmien suulla. Meille on syötetty valheita vuosia, joten miksi tämä yhtäkkiä olisi yhtään sen todellisempiaa kun puhutaan UFOista?

On monia kysymyksiä joihin vaaditaan vastauksia, ja nämä vastaukset, vakuutan sinulle, eivät tule valtavirran mediasta. Mutta juuri nyt tuntuu siltä kuin me eläisimme UFO-paljastuksen aikaa, kun media viimeinkin on tunnustamassa sen, että nämä ilmiöt ovat todellisia.

Klassinen esimerkki olisi miten CIA pitää kirjaa kehityksestä Saksassa, niinkuin selitetään tässä dokumentissa, joka tutki “saksalaista sanomalehteä” joka “jokin aika sitten julkaisi George Kleinin haastattelun, tunnetun insinöörin ja ilmailualan asiantuntijan, joka kertoi kokeellisesta ’lentävien lautasten’ rakentamisesta, jotka kuljettivat häntä vuosina 1941-1945.”

UFOt ja avaruusolentojen vierailu ei ole paha asia, eikä se tunnu olevan ”petollista”. Se on, kuitenkin, todella totta. Ainoa uskottava mahdollisuus millekään ”petokselle” olisi siinä mielessä kun tarjotaan virallista selitystä sille miksi ne ovat täällä ja ovatko ne jonkinlainen uhka. Mighty Google

Aikaisemmassa postauksessani käsittelin Googlen asemaa hakukokeena. Googlella on kuitenkin myös muita hyvin suosittuja palveluja, joiden tarkoituksena on edistää niin yksityishenkilöiden kuin yritysten digitaalista kehitystä. Palveluita löytyy niin tiedonhakuun, tiedon säilytykseen kuin sen välittämiseen. Aina emme välttämättä edes tiedä käyttävämme Googlen palveluita, vaikka käyttäisimme niitä lähes päivittäin; osalle voi tulla yllätyksenä, että muun muassa videopalvelu Youtube on Googlen omistuksessa. Googlen tarjoamat palvelut ovat monin tavoin tukemassa arkeamme ja vauhdittamassa digitaalista kehitystä.

Yksi digitaalisen kehityksen suurista vauhdittajista on ehdottomasti Android-käyttöjärjestelmä, joka myöskin on Googlen käsialaa. Maailmassa on yli 24 000 puhelin- ja tablettimallia, joiden käyttöjärjestelmä on Android. Androidia on muokattu eri tarpeisiin; siitä löytyy räätälöity sovellusversio niin auton ajamiseen, matkapuhelimeen kuin koodaamiseen. Android toimii käyttöjärjestelmänä niin puhelimissa, tableteissa kuin älytelevisioissa, tuoden sitä kautta myös synergiaetuja käyttäjälle.  

Omasta mielestäni Android on yksi malliesimerkki siitä, miten helppokäyttöisiä järjestelmiä Google pystyy luomaan. Mielestäni Android-puhelimet ovat hyvin käyttäjäystävällisiä. Käyttöjärjestelmä on helppo oppia, ja sen käyttö tuntuu hyvin loogiselta, asiat löytyvät sieltä, mistä ajattelinkin. Kehittämällä Androidin kaltaisen käyttöjärjestelmän, jota myös erilaiset mobiililaitteiden valmistajat mielellään suosivat, Google pystyy tukemaan hyvin monenlaisia erilaisia tahoja digitaalisessa kehityksessä. Käyttöjärjestelmä antaa ikään kuin rungon myös erilaisille digitaalisille tuotteille. Androidin ja elektroniikkavalmistajien välille syntyy laaja yhteistyöverkosto, joka taas pystyy edelleen kehittämään tuotteita eteenpäin.

Kun mietitään erilaisten palvelujen vaikuttavuutta ja globaalia merkitystä, on Googlella vahva asema myös Internet-selainten puolella. Google Chrome on yksi käytetyimmistä selaimista, ja jälleen helppokäyttöisyydessään muista erottuva. Itselläni Google Chrome on käytössä kaikilla laitteillani, sillä koen, että se on kaikista helppokäyttöisin ja toimintavarmuudeltaan luotettavin. Chrome toimii kaikissa käyttöjärjestelmissä ja kaikilla laitteilla; Chromea käyttäessä voi yleensä luottaa siihen, että haluttu sovellus tai palvelu toimii Chromen kautta. Chrome toimii niin puhelimella, tabletilla kuin tietokoneella, mikä jälleen tarjoaa synergiaetuja käyttäjälle. Chromea markkinoidaan myös tietoturvallisena selaimena, joka ohjaa käyttäjää tekemään turvallisia valintoja Internetissä. Toimiva, luotettava selain on avainroolissa niin yksityishenkilöiden kuin yritystenkin tiedonsaannin ja asioiden hoitamisen kannalta, ja mahdollistaa jälleen myös kehitystyön sen ympärille monille sidosryhmille.

Kolmantena uraa uurtavana Googlen palveluna nostaisin esiin Gmailin. Gmail on Googlen sähköpostipalvelu, jonka yksityiskäyttäjät voivat ladata maksutta käyttöönsä. Yrityskäytössä Gmaililla ei ole ihan yhtä vahva asema, mutta varsinkin yksityiskäytössä se kuuluu suosituimpien sähköpostipalvelinten joukkoon. 

Gmail noudattaa samaa periaatetta kuin Googlen muut palvelut; se pyrkii olemaan mahdollisimman helppokäyttöinen, selkeä ja älykäs sovellus, joka erottautuu käyttäjäystävällisyydellä. Gmail mahdollistaa sujuvan sähköisen viestinnän ja asioiden hoitamisen sähköisesti, mikä on omiaan tukemaan digitaalista kehitystä. Mielestäni havainnollista on myös se, että jälleen oma henkilökohtainen sähköpostini on Gmailin. En ole mitenkään tietoisesti fokusoinut Googlen palveluihin, mutta ne ovat valikoituneet omaan käyttööni kokeiltuani erilaisia vaihtoehtoja. Puhelin itselläni on iOS- käyttöjärjestelmällä, mutta käytännössä katsoen en käytä muita selaimia kuin Chromea, ja sähköposti hoituu Gmailin kautta. Palvelukokemus puhuu puolestaan.

Vaan millaisista luvuista puhutaan?

Olisi mielenkiintoista tietää tarkkoja lukuja siitä, miten suosittuja sovelluksia Chrome ja Gmail ovat verrattuna lähimpiin kilpailijoihin. En ainakaan itse nopealla haulla löytänyt asiasta tietoa - liekö tähän vaikuttanut se, että tein haun Googlen kautta? Oletko itse törmännyt käyttöasteista kertoviin tutkimuksiin?

WHERE WE ARE is an exposition of 16 emerging local artists, curated by Emme Rose Brettle. Work in a range of media will be on display for 7 days, along with designer goods for sale from vendors of hand-made artist's materials and textile arts. During the course of the exhibition, various participants will be on-site selling zines, prints, stickers, and other merchandise, as well as artists’ grade water-colours, hand-crafted candles, and more.

Opening night will feature the beginning of a collaborative live-painting on a 4 foot by 6 foot canvas, to be completed over the week while the artists sit the gallery. Enjoy temporary jagua tattoos drawn by the artists, guaranteed to last up to two weeks. On Saturday, October 26th, visitors may attend a special Inktober HalloZine Workshop from 1pm – 5 pm, where attendees will learn to create folded zines from a single paper. Included in the exhibition: embroidery, intaglio, screen printing, paintings in all media, sculpture.
