The pain, betrayal, constant struggle, being treated as disposable, having to pretend to be alright to keep things from falling apart, the “strong Black woman”, the lack of love and acceptance, the sacrifices, ignoring truths for the sake of “peace”, the heartbreak, the tears, the abuse, the struggles with depression, anxiety, and mental health overall, the resiliency, and the glimpses of triumph entwined with many sleepless nights are some of the plights of Black women. Mississippi Damned shows a few examples of how much we endure while the sour, sweet, cold Lemonade is an invitation to heal. If you still don’t understand why Lemonade is so important watch Mississippi Damned and it will all make sense.

My husband and I watched Mississippi Dammed yesterday. We had so many different emotions. The movie is sooooo relatable. We both said we found a relative or ourselves in one of the characters. That movie speaks VOLUMES if you grew up in the south.
