Mission Beach Family Photos | C + A
Mission Beach Family Photos | C + A As a San Diego family photographer, I love when previous wedding clients come back for their maternity photo sessions and then their family photo sessions! I love seeing their families grow and evolve! A big milestone for new families is celebrating their child’s first birthday! Many families like to celebrate it with a family photo session. Some bring a cake…

✮ content. pro-hero!bakugo x pro-hero fem!reader. late 20 somethings + married w/ a toddler. family fluff while he’s away on a mission. slightly suggestive (aka Katsuki’s down bad for his wife). ;)
Tumblr media
“Momma!” Your daughter shouts from the living room, the little pitter patters of her feet echoing down the hall as she sprints toward you with glee. “Phone’s ringing, pick it up, please!”
Her small hands shove the phone against your thigh, bouncing up and down in place with excitement. You tuck the folded towel in your arms into the closet and bend down to her level. When you take the phone from her, your husband’s name —💥Katsuki 👑💕— is displayed across the screen, accompanied by a photo of the three of you on your last beach trip. Clicking the “Accept” button, the visual of Katsuki in his hero costume appears, his attention focused on removing his gloves while waiting for you to answer.
“Hey handsome,” you greet, heart swelling when you catch him smirk at the compliment. “Someone’s been waiting for you to call.”
“An’ where’s my little girl at?”
Your daughter hops into view, jumping up and down with her hands waving frantically.
“Hi Daddy!” She giggles, dancing back and forth on her tip toes. “Did ya beat up the bad guys today?”
Katsuki laughs heartily, finally sitting on the bed in his hotel room. “Sure did. I’m keepin’ you and Momma safe. How’s school goin’?”
“S’good! I got a gold star today for my drawing.”
“Yeah? Proud of you, sweetheart. Can’t wait for ya to show me when I come home.”
The time on your phone reads 7:30PM, and like clockwork, your daughter begins to stretch, yawning the same way Katsuki does when he’s exhausted after a long shift.
“Why don’t you get ready for bed, sweetie?” You suggest while rubbing her back. “I know you’re tired.”
“Okaaay,” she pouts, trying to fight off her sudden sleepiness. “G’night Daddy. I miss you!”
“Only two more days. Love an’ miss you, Princess. Sweet dreams.”
With a wave and a smile, she trots off toward her bedroom to change into her PJs, leaving you with a few minutes to talk with Katsuki before tucking her into bed. You walk back into your joint bedroom, leaving the door cracked as you lay on the bed. Katsuki does the same, shifting the camera to follow his movements as he stretches out across the sheets.
“Goddamn, I miss you somethin’ fierce,” he admits, sighing into his forearm as it crosses his face to hide the soft dusting of pink on his cheeks. “You put a spell on me or some shit?”
“Not this time,” you chuckle, feet swaying in the air behind you like a giddy schoolgirl. “I miss you, too. How was your day?”
“S’alright, nothin’ crazy. Can’t wait’ta be back home, sleepin’ alone sucks.”
“Yeah, the bed is cold without you.”
There’s a short lull in the conversation before it shifts into something more sensually charged. Katsuki tends to get clingier the longer he’s stationed away from home — all the telltale signs of it are reflecting in his eyes through the camera, sparkling under the dim moonlight from his hotel room window.
“Good thing I know how to keep ya warm,” he purrs with a wink, the mischievous grin stretched over his lips telling you how he’s truly feeling. “S’how you got knocked up the first time.”
There it is, that familiar warmth flooding into your belly and heat spreading from your ears to your toes.
“Kaaats!” you whine, shyly tucking your head into your chest. “Shut up.”
“Don’t get shy on me now, Peaches,” he teases, laughing quietly at your bashfulness. “S’cute how easy ya are to rile up.”
You wave him off and roll your eyes lovingly. “I should go put her to bed. Are you gonna be up in an hour?”
His brow furrows curiously. “Prob’ly. Why?”
“Gives me time to get her settled, put away the laundry and finish the dishes. Up for a little late night date?”
Oh, Katsuki knows exactly what that means. Why was the thought of watching you doing chores around the house and taking care of your daughter making him suddenly break out in a sweat?
“Earth to Katsuki?” You call again and recollect his attention. “If you’re too tired—”
“Never too tired for you, baby. Go do what ya gotta do, I’ll be waitin’.”
“Okay, I love you!” You sweetly sing as you roll off the bed. “Get comfy, bye babe.”
“Love you too, Peach. See ya.”
The “End Call” screen flashes briefly in front of Katsuki’s eyes, the darkness of the hotel room returning once the screen dims into nothingness. He mumbles a breathless ‘fuck’ into the air before jumping off the bed to stomp toward the bathroom.
Only you can leave him hanging by a thread on simple promises, even when he’s miles away. And damn, did he love it.

I have an idea that firefighter!Konig meets reader on a mission, but she's a heavy sleeper who's sleepong naked and unaware that the building is on fire. I'll leave the rest for you. I know I'll sending you a lot of requests, so it's okay if you ignore them or don't have time to do it. Take care❤️🎀
This😮‍💨 lordy what a naughty man
Firefighter!König x Sleeping!Reader (fem)

Master List

.
.
König has been a firefighter for the last 23 years. He has seen a lot of things over the years; some sad and others were happy events. From losing someone in the fire to saving a dog from the flames. Today, he saw something completely unexpected though.
The call came in that there was a local apartment building that had caught fire. The fire started in a top floor apartment and began to spread. He showed up with two other trucks to try and contain the fire. His men worked on evacuating the building. He ran up to the fourth floor and was helping families to the stairway before turning to his men.
One young woman in pajamas came rushing up to König with a worried look on her face, her voice rushed as she was shaking.
“My roommate’s door was locked and I couldn’t get it open! She is still in her room!”
König nods, “What apartment?”
“413!”
“Okay, go with my men to safety, I’ll make sure your friend is safe. I promise.” He reassured the scared woman before walking past her to her apartment.
He opened the door and began to look around, he went down the narrow hallway to what he assumes is the bedrooms. He looks at the photos on the wall of your roommate and you traveling. His eyes linger on a beach photo of the two of you before turning his head forward and seeing your locked door.
He knocks, just to make sure you aren’t awake and near the door. No answer. He reaches for his crowbar and easily pops the locked door open. He walks in to see your dark room illuminated by the right red and white light of the fire trucks outside your window.
He walks up to your bed side and notices the blankets kicked off of you, and you're naked. His eyes drift to your breasts pooling on your chest as you rest on your back and the small mound between your legs. He lets out a deep breath before nudging you lightly.
“Miss, there is a fire.” He says in a calm voice, but you don’t budge.
He nudges you again, your breasts jiggling as he does as it’s all he can focus on. Your breasts are simply perfect, your nipples hard from the cold air circulating in the room. So many thoughts rush through his mind as he looks down at your stunning body. He shouldn’t have these thoughts; he shouldn’t even still be standing here just looking at you. He should wrap you up in a blanket and move you down stairs until the fire is extinguished. Yet, he lingers over you. Just watching as his erection grows.
Reaching out to nudge you again, you don’t respond. König looks around the room, noticing it’s slightly messy with clothes and books. A laptop on your desk with college textbooks stacked neatly next to it. Stepping out of the bedroom he looks around and sees no one else has entered the apartment since he came in to find you. Good.
“Miss?” He pulls his gloves off and reaches out to nudge you again, this time slightly rougher. Still no response.
His hand trails up your arm, feeling how soft your skin is against his. A voice in his head yelling at him that he isn’t supposed to be touching you. He’s here to help, but he just can’t resist. His hand travels to your shoulder before drifting across your collarbone. Slowly his hand drifts lower…
Fingers gently gliding around your breast until he reaches your nipple. He glides the back of his fingers over them and circling your breast before moving back up and twisting your nipple between his two fingers gently. He looks at your face to see if you’re responding to this, but you aren’t. You’re still asleep.
He opens his hand to cup your breast and gently squeezes it. So, so soft. Perfect. Lifting off his helmet, he lowers his head and flicks his tongue over your nipple. Grabbing it between both of his lips and sucking gently. Moving his head to your other breast and doing the same. His hand begins to wander down your stomach to the soft patch of hair between your legs. His fingers softly petting you before moving lower.
Feeling your little clit, moving his finger in small circles over it before moving his fingers between your folds until you started to get wet. His eyes are still on your face making sure that you don’t wake up. Still asleep. Jesus this woman’s a heavy sleeper…
His fingers now covered in your wet, he brings them up to his nose to smell before licking his fingers. You taste so sweet, smell so incredible. What he wouldn’t do to nuzzle his face between your thighs and tongue fuck you with his fat and long tongue, but he can’t.
Reaching into his pocket under his coat, he pulls out his cellphone. He takes a few photos of your breast, of your pussy, your full body, and your sleeping drooling face. He wishes so much he could have more.
Putting his phone away, he puts back on his helmet and gloves. He covers you with the blanket and speaks very loudly now.
“Miss. I’m a fireman, there is a fire.” He begins to lift your body as he wraps you in the blanket to be able to carry you since you’re still asleep.
He begins to walk out of the bedroom door with you as you slowly begin to wake up. You look up confused before seeing the fireman helmet of the person holding you, his eyes meet yours.
“I’m sorry but you wouldn’t wake up and there is a fire in the building. Nothing major, but we need the building to be clear just in case.”
“I understand.” You say feeling groggy, you had drank sleepy time tea shortly before this happened so your body is still exhausted.
König carries you down the four flights of stairs to get you down and outside. He walks you to the firetruck and lets you sit; the door opens and you’re sitting sideways, your legs dangling. König stands next to you.
“Are you okay, miss?” He asks because of how out of it you still seem.
“I’m okay, just very tired. Thank you for carrying me… and for letting me sit here.”
“Of course, anything to help.” He smiles at you.

Hiiiiiii 👋😙
With all the lovely dad!Ghost renders you graced us with, can i ask if you have any headcanons for them? Can never get enough of Ghost having a family he never got to have as a kid. I just wanna hug him frfr okay I'm done babbling 😭🫶🫶🤍
Helloooo! ♥ Ok, so this is interesting ask! Some of my renders are random, but some have a story
Tumblr media
Simon forgot to take off his balaclava. Child saw it on him and by the time he realized, it was already too late. He expected baby to cry, be afraid of him and not recognize their dad, but when they didn't and even got interested, he got emotional. Maybe he realized that Ghost wasn't just a soldier and even he became a father - not just Simon.
Tumblr media
He wanted to introduce his baby to "Ghost". Wants little one not to be afraid of him and to know what their father does for a living
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I imagine him as a dad who likes to chill with his kid in living room. Maybe he turns something on TV and waits for them to fall asleep, and when they do, he closes his eyes for a moment and eventually they both end up snoring
Tumblr media
Riley's first introduction to his baby. Simon was afraid of dog's reaction, but baby wanted to give Riley a toy. They definitely liked each other and became friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are either before or after mission - last hug or a warm hello. Maybe his partner wanted to surprise him and came to the base with their baby to welcome him?
Now some of my random dad!Ghost canons! >.<
10000000000% girl dad
he certainly never planned to have children, due to his own traumas and dangerous job, so having them was by an accident for sure.
feeling first kick, seeing a baby bump or ultrasound made something "click" in him
once he becomes a father, he is overprotective and wants to provide child with a safe and calm environment, which he never had
delicate and distant at the beginning. He doesn't think he deserves a family, and if he does have one, he's afraid of losing it.
he is action and giving type of person. A new swing in the garden? Installed in a few hours. Repair a broken toy or paint walls in new color? Done. Take baby to the doctor? You can count on him at any time. This is his love language.
grumpy type with a dad humor. Always has a lame joke up his sleeve
at the same time, as the child grows up, he also learns what it means to show love for them as a father. So only with time he starts to feel comfortable hugging his baby, playing with them, etc.
once he gets it, oh boy, he throws this kid all over the place while playing. Yes, he is the type of father who throws his child on the mattress and pretends to play WWE
have you seen this photo of Chris Hemsworth where he holds his kid by leg on a beach? Yes, this is Simon
or wraps them up like a burrito in a blanket and watch them struggle with smile on his face. The best way to tire them out, so it's a win for everyone if they fall asleep faster!
but he also likes to watch cartoons with them and cuddle (falls asleep after a few minutes)
he does THIS a lot
his kid/s definitely color his tattoos. And no, he doesn't wash them off. He's very proud of them. Definitely shows them to Soap.
seeing blood during a mission in his life was nothing compared to changing baby's diaper. Avoids it like the plague.
definitely did a fake tea party once. Little plastic chair broke under his weight.
has a lot of vids and pics on his phone of every possible situation of what his child is doing - sleeps, eats, talks, plays, smiles.... Once in a while shows them to 141
but he definitely likes photos where baby is sleeping the most. Because then he sees their calm expression and it gives him a sense of peace and fulfillment

"no, listen to me, it's M I N," sakura is so over this, honestly. but you promised to buy her a new controller for her switch if she helped you, so she goes through with it.
"m...i...n..." sakura types slowly as she scrolls with a glass of water in one hand.
"ji," you continue quickly.
"what was that?" she asks and looks up at you.
"j...i. j for james and i for like iphone, i dont know." sakura nods and returns back to typing.
"okay okay, minji.....minji...kim minji....i found her!" sakura flips her phone to show you the girl's instagram page.
you squint at sakura's shaky hands.
"stop, stop. I can't see with your hands shaking all over." sakura frowns at you and tries pulling her phone away. but you're quick to grab it out of your hands. feeling like you've hit the jackpot.
"yes! it's her!"
sakura rolls her eyes and grabs more chips from the coffee table, popping them into her mouth as you happily scroll through your coworker's public instagram page.
"you know you could just talk to her right? like at work...where you both work together in that cramped barista station."
"kkura, you really aren't helping." you mumble as you hit one of the posts of minji at the beach; she's smiling and showing off her cute brown dog. you had overheard minji talking with another worker about her family's brown mini poodle. "that must be choco."
"what i also don't understand is why you're looking her up, on MY phone. when you have a perfectly working phone." sakura continues to eat through the family size bag of lays.
you scoff and pull the blanket off of sakura's legs. "what if one day she asks me to exchange socials and she sees that i've searched her up already? i can't let that happen."
you roll your eyes like it's the most obvious reason.
"wow, i thought i was a loser, but this really takes the cake." she shakes at the bag for more lays and returns her attention to the show thats been playing in the background.
you pay sakura no mind as you now have found yourself happily going through her page. examining each post closely and even going through her tagged photos for more information.
"okay, stop, this is just creepy. you're like a cyber-stalker." sakura yanks her phone out of your hand and pushes your chest away to knock you off your balance. you topple over like a bowling pin. "don't forget you have to buy me new controllers for this!"
sakura leaves with her phone in hand, probably off to phone her friends, leaving you all alone in the apartment with whatever show's been playing.
"what a cockblock." you mutter out as you finish up the lays bag and crumple it, getting ready to go to bed. you let out a long yawn that turns into a groan until the air has left your lungs. now you're coughing like a mad man trying to drink water, you finally cool down.
--
"welcome to milk mocha!" minji shouts from behind the counters, you successfully arrive just shy of 15 minutes late for your shift.
"oh, you're here." minji comments when she looks up from behind the espresso machine and glances at you. you grimace at the dismissive tone, but all minji can see is your hair all over the place and shirt worn inside out and backwards.
needless to say, you pressed snooze a few times too many, and now you're paying the consequences.
"i am so so so sorry minji, i slept past my alarm." you beg for forgiveness and start spewing about how you tripped over your charging cable, accidentally burned your tongue during breakfast, wore wet socks. and minji's heard enough already.
"okay, lets just...get you set up. you're lucky it's slow right now." she ushered you into the staff room and your heart warms at how considerate she is. even feeling a little lovesick that she hasn't written you up for tardiness.
"you're the best minji!" you shout over your shoulder as you change into the work shirt and tie an apron around your waist. horrified to find the tag of your t-shirt facing the world.
you try brushing your hair as best as you can, then tucking into your work cap. you walk out onto the floor and see a few customers around. no one seems to be ordering and you thank the coffee gods for this opportunity.
"soooo minji...." you start, as you wipe down the counters.
"yes?" she's busy cleaning the machines in the meantime and checking that there's enough supplies in the mini fridge.
you turn to her and smile widely, "are you single?"
she stops what she's doing and turns to you. "yes, why do you ask?" in the most monotone voice you've ever heard.
you wonder if minji was a robot in her past life.
"oh, no reason, just curious, hehe." you mumble to yourself and minji looks at you confused but then a customer walks in.
"welcome to milk mocha! how can i help you?" you begin and take the guy's order.
minji's walked away to get ready for the lunch rush, but mostly to think about your question.
--
"hanni, listen to me, the girl's weird." minji says over facetime. hanni's laying on her back scrolling through instagram and nodding along to whatever minji's ranting about.
"mhm, mhm." hanni finds a cute cat video and sends it to haerin.
"she asked me today if i was single."
"mhm."
"and like, why would you ever ask your coworker that? i think that's weird, like she's crossing work boundaries you know?"
"mhm."
"bro! are you even listening?" minji starts tapping at the screen, taking hanni's attention away from the many cat videos.
"yes bro! something about being single?" hanni only spares her some attention before returning back to her cat videos.
"yes! she asked me if i was single!"
hanni looks back into the small rectangular box that minji is in, "okay, i dont see a problem."
haerin sends over a funny gif of fluffy dogs tripping. hanni laughs while minji continues to rant about her new coworker.
then a random notification pops up.
[hairein]: "HI ITS HYEIN HI HI HI"
hyein must have taken haerin's phone and has begun spamming through all the group chats that haerin has. hanni decides that's enough scrolling for a day.
hanni closes her instagram to focus on the conversation, also muting haerin's account for good measure.
"i don't think it's weird that she asked if you're single. if you find someone weird, then of course you're going to think everything they do is weird." hanni continues as she sits up and pulls her self to her desk.
minji goes quiet, thinking about her own views on her new coworker. she's between reasoning that it's okay that she thinks you're weird, but she also feels bad because maybe you two just got off on the wrong foot.
she's never considered giving you a real chance to prove yourself. when you walked in two weeks ago for your first shift with a huge staff in hand (you were going to a convention later cosplaying as maki from jjk) minji already knew to stay away from you.
it doesn't help that the other people at work also thought you were weird. later that shift, your manager reprimanded you for showing up to work with a weapon; you profusely apologized and tried to show that it was just a foam staff. all the other workers already looked at you weirdly though, so maybe minji just followed along.
"well now i feel bad." minji concludes as hanni watches her through the screen.
"good! be more open-minded next time." hanni concludes and hangs up on minji immediately. minji on the other end drops her jaw and curses hanni through the phone.
--
"order for jay!" you shout from the counter, wiping down the americano. minji's shift just started but you're already elbow deep in your shift. it seems that friday's are always busy at miilk mocha. everyone is scrambling to get these orders out as quick as possible.
you look more tired for today's shift, constantly rubbing at your eyes and yawning when no one's looking. kazuha seems concerned that you're so tired.
"hey, you okay?" kazuha asks when you sit down for a quick break. you nod.
"yeah stayed up playing genshin, you know how things go." you explain and continue rubbing at your eyes. hitting a little too hard that it makes you see stars when you blink.
"you need to stop playing till 4am, you know you have a shift at 7." kazuha explains to you, she's already working on the next order. you take a breather and sip on the coffee you made for yourself.
"it's not my fault that game is so addicting." you explain and stretch your body, getting ready to take on the rest of the orders. minji finally fixes her apron and walks out to see you and kazuha chatting it up.
minji tries inserting herself into the conversation, hoping to see a new side of you that isn't so...peculiar.
"what's genshin?"
"minji! you don't know what genshin is?" you exclaim and begin going on a long rant about the game and it's gacha mechanics. you even begin explaining the pulls you have gotten. by the end of it, minji is even more confused and intrigued by you, also worried about your financial responsibility (lack of) because you really just dropped 300 bucks for in-game content.
--
"how are things with the new girl?" hanni's eating her sandwich and minji can't help but feel down.
minji scratches her neck as she thinks about you, "she's good...explained to me the lore of genshin, and then i found out that the staff that she brought to work on her first day was actually for a cosplay outfit, and not just a weapon she carries around."
hanni nods and grabs minji's drink, taking a sip out of it, "so, she's not that weird, just probably made a poor impression."
"yes, you were right." minji sighs and digs into her sandwich, feeling guilty about making presumptions about you.
"hey, cheer up! it's okay, i had a horrible impression of you when i first met you." hanni drinks the rest of juice and lets out a satisfied "ah." until she realizes it wasn't her drink to begin with.
minji just glares at her, "you better pay me back for that."
"see this is why i didn't like you at first." hanni complains but fishes out a five dollar bill and slaps it into minji's hand.
--
"order for macy." you grab the hot chocolate and place it on the counter. a cute little girl with pigtails walks up to the counter and grabs the hot chocolate, standing on her tippy toes. you look over the counter and aw at the cute kid.
"hi macy, want to see my latte art?" you offer, macy nods enthusiastically, you grin before grabbing the frothing cup and doing a nice rosetta for the girl.
she smiles in awe and you laugh, handing her a free cookie for staying, "don't tell anyone i gave you this, okay?" you offer your pinky finger to the small girl. she pinky swears and tucks the cookie into her jacket pocket before leaving with her hot chocolate in hand.
minji's watching the whole interaction and despite being shift manager and wanting to reprimand you for giving out free sweets to customers without asking firsthand, she doesn't have the heart to ruin the sweet act you just did.
in fact, when you find her staring at you, you let out a sheepish laugh and try to move past the fact you gave away a free cookie.
--
"minji! do you want a burger, or hot dog?" you ask, you've officially dedicated yourself the grill master at the company barbecue. the other employees are busy chatting each other up, but you're manning the grill with a coke zero in hand, and expertly making everyone's orders.
"burger, please." minji walks away from her conversation to watch over you, surprisingly you're good at manning the grill, despite still finding way to trip over nothing during work.
this side is actually quite charming, even if you have those ridiculous frog sunglasses over your eyes.
"how are you doing?" minji asks, she peers over the grill and finds rows and rows of burger patties and hot dogs on the other side. you're expertly checking each burger for doneness and rolling hot dogs to ensure even cooking.
"doing great! all patties and hot dogs are coming out delicious and hot hot hot!" you explain. you turn to her and all she can see are those goofy frog glasses on your face. you give her a smirk before turning back to the grill. "first burger that's done is yours to take, by the way."
minji blushes at the sentiment. "you really don't have to do that. everyone should eat first."
"no can do minji, got to make sure you're well fed." you explain and continue flipping burgers while drinking your coke zero. minji finds it adorable how focused you are at this job, even if no one is expecting stellar quality burgers/hot dogs.
"watch out minji!" your head turns faster and you see a football flying your way, definitely going to hit minji on the head, so you block her from the football, having it land straight into your forehead.
"oof." you land backwards and fall to the grass, now rubbing your forehead from the hit. the other coworkers are running up and checking on you, meanwhile all you can do is ask, "you alright minji? it didn't hit you right?"
she blushes wildly at the question and whispers a quiet "i'm good." while you are being pulled off the ground and everyone asks how you're doing. you make jokes, playing it off, saying you were born with a head harder than bricks. everyone laughs and returns back to what they were doing.
"okay, back to the grill." you brush off the dirt all over your apron, and start humming a song while plating finished burgers, handing the first one to minji. "for you!" you tell minji and she gives a thank you before walking away to eat it.
the rest of the barbecue, minji seems to stick by your side throughout the day. this doesn't go unnoticed by kazuha who saw the whole ordeal. her eyes squinting as she sips on her drink.
--
"zuha zuha! i'm tired!" you exclaim, you're working the earliest shift, you were opener and on food prep for the shift. it's near the middle of your shift when you decide to take your break. both kazuha and minji are busy tending to the coffee shop. you sit on a step stool behind the counter to eat a cold croissant from one of the failed batches.
"go walk around or something, you need to get your blood pumping." she explains and goes into depth about the stretches that would promote blood flow and restore energy to your body. you aren't interested in hearing actual solutions, just wanting to vent.
"no! you can't tell me what to do!" you grumble and stuff more of the croissant in your face, even picking out the ham slice to eat separately. minji finds this all a bit weird, as in weird in her stomach kind of weird. the same kind of weird she feels when someone takes the last bag of chips in the convenience store when she goes up to buy it.
she watches how kazuha is so easily able to grab you by the arm, a boundary that she would never cross. and kazuha is pushing you into the backrooms, while you make kissy faces at kazuha, all of which are being dodgeds left and right. "you love me zuha, just admit it!" you shout before the door is closed on you.
kazuha walks back out to the barista station and smiling at minji before continuing to work, "she's something else." minji just nods and tries to will away that nasty feeling in her gut.
"you know she's my cousin right?" kazuha continues, minji stops what she's doing.
"no, i didn't. wow that makes a lot of sense actually." minji explains, kazuha just laughs at her shocked face.
"yeah, just thought you should know." kazuha winks at minji before returning to her espresso machine. minji is confused by the wink, but it's too late to ask; kazuha is already busy in work mode. the feeling in her stomach quells a bit.
--
"what are you looking for?" minji jumps at the sudden voice behind her. you're peering over her shoulder as she holds the walk-in door open.
"you scared me!" minji exclaims and hits you on the shoulder, leading you to pout and rub at your shoulders.
"sorry, bad habit of mine." you explain, "so, what are you looking for?"
minji's still looking around for food that she can eat. she had the great idea of waking up an hour later today, only to find out that hanni already ate her work lunch with a measly 'sorry! i'll pay you back :)) ~hanni' scribbled over a sticky note taped to the fridge door. minji groaned and sped off to get to work on time, completely forgoing a lunch.
"hopefully lunch, hanni ate my lunch."
"you have a bunny named hanni?" you question, trying to look for food in the walk-in.
"no, i have a roommate named hanni, she always steals my food, claims it tastes better than her own food." minji sighs and looked at different rows for hopefully another lone croissant or even a cookie. "is there really no food in here?"
"probably not, since shipment's tomorrow and we've had a busy week." you explain but then you pull your phone out, making a quick call.
"yes one order of a club sandwich, with chips and a cookie please...thank you!" you speak into the phone, minji's confused but you smile at her when she looks at you confused. "okay thank you, can I pick it up now?" and then you hang up the phone.
"what was that?" minji questions but you've already darted out of the walk-in, and minji's hot on your trail watching you run out of the store and make a quick beeline to the deli store around the corner, with your work cap and work apron on. minji laughs at your antics, but her heart warms at the sentiment.
minji returns back into the coffee shop. she might as well wait for you to return so she opens her phone.
[minmin]: new girl bought me lunch
[hanbunny]: you're kidding. even i wouldn't do that.
[minmin]: of course you wouldn't you ate my work lunch!
[minmin]: literally this is all your fault >:(
[hanbunny]: hey, new girl literally is buying you lunch, i think im being a great wingwoman actually, my genius should never be doubted :>
[minmin]: shut up.
[minmin]: also pay me back.
you return breathing heavy but with a brown takeout bag in front of minji's face. minji puts her phone away as she grabs the bag, surprised to see all the things you ordered in the bag. "you really didn't have to do this, how much was it?"
"free 99, don't pay me back minji. it's a thank you for all times you've covered for me when i was late to work." you stretch your legs and sit down next to minji, watching her enjoy the food that you bought.
"want some?" minji splits half her sandwich.
"sure!" you happily grab at the half presented to you and chew happily; minji just laughs at the sight. you remind her of a dog in the way you're so energetic and food driven.
"well if you won't let me pay you back, can i cook you dinner?" minji takes a leap of faith and turns to you, your mouth drops open and you nod intensely, almost choking on the sandwich but finally swallowing the bite.
"yes! i would be honored to try your cooking." you offer as you bite into the sandwich again.
minji smiles at that, "it's a date then."
--
"no, kkura, listen. she said 'it's a date then', but like i don't actually think it's one." you explain while sakura's playing resident evil. her focus being taken up by this new development but also the anxiety from how scary the game is.
"okay, so it's a date." she echos back, moving her head away from the screen.
"but i don't think it is. you know how some people just say it's a date, but it turns out it's just a friend date?" you explain and groan into sakura's plushies.
"no, not really." sakura continues, jumping when a random NPC shows up on the screen's peripheral.
"i just don't want to make it seem like i read it wrong." you explain, toying with the feet of the duck plushie. "what if i the overread it and bring roses to a friend date, you know? then she would think i'm weird and not want to be friends with me. which is fine! but i really would like this to be a date."
"listen kid, just ask her directly if it's a friend date or more. it's easy." sakura explains plainly, frankly you've been going through this back and forth for the past fifteen minutes and sakura's had enough.
you freak out, taking a sharp intake, "absolutely not! that would ruin the mood, then i would look like i'm making her look like an idiot, and minji is not an idiot." you explain.
"i gave you the best advice i got, if you're not going to take it then leave."
"kkura pleaseeee, i need a better way to figure this out."
"nope, not hearing it, good luck!" sakura tunes you out, putting her headphones back on and locking in.
you walk out with sakura's duck plushie still in your hands, if she won't give you good advice then you're taking her belongings.
--
you give yourself some words of encouragement as you knock on her apartment door. behind this door was the living space of your crush and you were sweating, rocking on your feet back and forth in anticipation.
"hello! you're minji's coworker right?" the door opens quickly, and a shorter girl stands before you; she is definitely not minji.
"yes, and you're hanni?" you question to which she nods, excitedly welcoming you into their home. it's what you would expect of minji's living space, very light cream and brown colors all over the living space.
"hanni! i told you to let me answer the door!" minji rushes out of her room, with a cute top on and her hair done in cute braids framing her face, you think she looks gorgeous.
"well minji, it's rude to keep a guest waiting." hanni laughs and smiles at minji weirdly, giving her a quick wink and a pat on her shoulders before disappearing into her room, "it was nice to meet you!"
"you too!" you shout as hanni closes her door.
minji feathers through her hair, and directs you to take off your jacket. you're looking around and you spot minji's work clogs by the shoe rack, and laugh at the sight.
"sorry about hanni, she's usually not so enthusiastic." minji's leading you over to the kitchen where you can see her dinner being cooked. you smile at the delicious smells invading your nose.
"not at all, she seems very nice." you reply back and settle into one of the bar stools.
minji stands awkwardly, confused on how this date should go. "would you like anything to drink? we have water, juice, coke zero, wine-"
"coke zero." you decide, and minji laughs remembering your obsession with that specific drink, no other kind of coke.
"okay, coke zero it is." she hands you the drink to which you happily start drinking, even letting out a large burp, "excuse me."
minji just laughs and finishes stirring the pasta and plating them on the table, it's your favorite, carbonara. you thank the pasta gods for this delicious meal and start to dig in.
minji really hopes the pasta she made tastes good, "how is it?"
"so delicious, better than any pasta i've had before!" you are definitely enjoying the meal as you are finished with the plate before minji can even eat half of hers.
"can i have seconds?"
minji laughs, "of course."
you give yourself another bowl of pasta, happily chatting about interests, you find out that minji's a bit of a audiophile, enjoying all kinds music. she's speaking about her passions but you keep eyeing the stray hair on her cheek. so you reach out and pick it off if minji's face causing her to blush and glow red.
"thank you." she's back to the more reserved minji that you see whenever she's embarrassed. her hands are closed over each other.
"thank you for dinner by the way, you really didn't have to cook me dinner." you say in between bites. you appreciate the girl's kindness; you just can't tell if this is really a date. "i brought flowers by the way!" you go back to your bag and pull out pink carnations.
minji blushes at the gesture, finding it cute that you even thought to bring flowers. she grabs a vase and starts filling it to place the flowers that you have brought, she can't seem to contain her happiness. smiling wildly and then she feels her phone vibrate in her pocket.
[hanbunny]: hey
[hanbunny]: did you two kiss yet?
[hanbunny]: danielle's here too btw
[hanbunny]: hi minji! danielle here! i think your outfit is so cute <3333
[hanbunny]: anyways, hanni here, make a move by the end of the date, if you don't i don't have to pay you back for the lunch i stole
[hanbunny]: love you, good luck!
minji knew the two girls were up to something suspicious, hanni kept demanding that danielle come over earlier in the afternoon. she did not expect the two to be spying on her and your date. minji mutes hanni's conversation, turning to you.
"want to watch a movie?" minji asks as she walks over to the couch. you decide on the lego movie, claiming that it's been your favorite for years, and minji doesn't have the heart to tell you she finds it embarrassing to watch.
you both are enjoying it; well, mostly you are enjoying the movie, and minji's enjoying you enjoying the movie. you tend to recite the lines quietly when you know a long dialogue is coming up, or you clap when you find a scene enjoyable.
minji finds herself relaxing into the date, you seem preoccupied enough with the movie that she goes up to make some popcorn for herself. as she waits for the popcorn, she spots hanni's door cracked open. spotting two sets of eyes watching minji.
minji turns back towards the tv, happy that you haven't discovered the two. "i'm going to the bathroom." minji shouts. you give her a thumbs up and an okay, minji turns to hanni's room.
both girls are eyes wide seeing minji stalk towards them, trying to shut the door but minji's too strong, barging into the room, with hanni tumbling backwards into danielle. both of them sprawled out on hanni's carpet.
"you two have been spying us this whole time?" minji whisper shouts at them. quickly shutting the door behind her.
"i'm sorry!" danielle squeaked out while hanni glared at minji.
"you have nothing to be sorry about dani, minji here just doesn't understand that we are emotional support for her first date!" hanni explains, getting up to sit on her bed.
minji groans and looks around, seeing a giant corkboard filled with poorly shot photos of you and her at work, red string pinned criss crossing all over the board, as if this were a murder case.
"hanni, what is this?" minji nearly shouts, she's horrified to see photos of herself eyeing you or the other way around. hanni simply smiles at her work.
"this is my board for mission: GMAG." she explains proudly, "stands for mission: get minji a girlfriend."
"you have got to be kidding me." minji looks all over the board, trying not to be upset at hanni. she understands the girl is just looking out for her, but this is all a bit much.
"this wasn't my idea!" danielle explains, minji knows that danielle would never do something like this. so she glares at hanni instead, the girl just smirks and points at the board instead.
"whatever, just don't make a peep, i need to get back to this date." minji explains and closes the door behind her, leaving the two alone.
"sorry that took so long." minji walks into the living room, seeing you happily invested in the movie. you smile at her, and pat the seat next to you, inviting her to join you.
"no worries, movie's good!" you explain. even though minji might not completely love the lego movie, she is enjoying being around you and spending time with you. also find it cute that you dropped a blanket over her as she got comfortable.
you recognize the final portion of the movie, "this is my favorite part, minji." you explain to her how cool the collaboration of lego fans and the production cast were. giving her insight on the movie that she definitely did not know. she ends up kissing you through your avid explanation, with your hands all over the place.
you thank the heavens she made the first move because you were worried this was a friend date. minji turns shy at the action, a little shocked by her own boldness. she shifts away from you and avoids your eye contact.
"minji, you just kissed me." you say, a little slow on the pick up. your brain is trying to catch up to what just happened. minji just nods, seemingly invested in the ending credits.
"did you mean to?" you ask, pushing her shoulder a bit.
"yes." she says and you can see her ears getting all red from the embarrassment.
"oh thank god, because i wasn't sure if this was a friend date or romantic date, i mean obviously i wanted it to be a romantic date, but i really wasn't sure if it was. i asked my roommate for help, but she was no help. she told me to ask you if this was a more than a friendly date, and i was like nuh uh no way i am going to ask minji that." you trail on and on, a nervous habit you picked up whenever you didn't know what to say next.
minji kisses you a second time. and you stop talking. "it's definitely more than a friend kind of date." she reaffirms your suspicions and you let out a little laugh. you pull her into a hug, before grabbing her face and giving her a kiss as well.
"i want to kiss you more often." you say.
"yeah?"
"yeah." you conclude proudly.
hanni and danielle are still in hanni's room with their ears against the gap of the door. and then you hear a loud squeal followed by a loud crash. you turn to minji and she immediately groans.
"hanni!" minji shouts. it's silent for a couple seconds until you hear a timid muffled voice. and out comes two girls from hanni's room. you're shocked because you completely forgot about hanni, and to now learn that there was another girl too makes you even more confused.
"hi minji, hello minji's lover." hanni smirks at you, while you hide yourself behind minji.
"hanni stop." minji groans out.
"what? mission: gmag is a success from what i can see." hanni gives you a wink, you feel oddly exposed by the action. meanwhile, hanni's friend is just smiling and nodding at you. you feel a little less worried with her.
as minji and her two friends head back into hanni's room to assess the aftermath caused by the troublemakers. you sit back, scratching your head and munching on popcorn. puzzled by hanni's interest in you.
minji returns with a smile, and casually suggests, "another movie?"
"lego movie part 2?" you ask with a grin.

Requested: Can I get either a Bradshaw!reader or Mitchell!reader x Robert 'Bob' Floyd fic where the reader dated Jake before she ever met Bob, so when she meets the Dagger Squad as Bob's girl, it's the first time she's seen Jake since they broke up? Reader would be engaged or married to Bob and her and Jake would have ended on really bad terms. If this isn't up your alley and/or makes you uncomfortable feel free to ignore this request. Lots of love regardless! 🥰🥰🥰
Pairing: Bob x Bradshaw!Reader, Past jake Seresin x reader
Tumblr media
When bob first got called back to top gun you panicked. Not only was your husband called back but so was your brother and the closest thing you ever had to a father. You stressed everyday, hoping they would be safe and sound.
Two and a half weeks later when the mission was successful and bob had thankfully made it home safe and sound, he called you to let you know that the dagger squad was being made permanent and he would be coming home to help you pack up your house and move you both down to San Diego. Nothing sounded better than living near everyone you considered your family. In a whirlwind you two had packed up the house, put it on the market to sell and made an offer on a new house.
It didn't take long to sell your old home thankfully, and you two found a perfect home five minutes from the beach and close to work for bob. It all seemed like everything was falling perfectly into place.
Letting out a dreamy sigh as you look around the open floor plan for the home you just got the keys too, your husband turns to look at you.
"everything okay dear?" you can't help the grin you let shine on your face when you turn to look at your husband's concern.
"Everything is perfect." He gives you a soft smile and kiss on the forehead then continues voicing his thoughts on where you should hang the tv for least amount of glare during the day.
You listen to him rant about where he wants to put the couch and how he wants to hang your wedding photos, giving an occasional hum of agreement.
"oh and also I want you to meet my squad" this causes you to raise an eyebrow. Usually over protective bob keeps you away from the dirtbags in the airforce he's typically assigned to deal with. You didn't question that too much, because you have upfront experience with how most air force men are.
"you do?"
"Yeah- these guys- they're different and I want them to meet the most important person in my life"
"awe, of course I wanna meet them honey and I'm glad you are finally part of a team that aren't just egotistical assholes- though I know how Bradley can be" He laughs at your joke, but he knows how excited you really are at being able to live near everyone. Too often the navy drags people away from the ones they love, so you are both grateful for the chance that it brought you all together.
It's about six days later- after everything is unpacked and settled that you are meeting the rest of the dagger squad. Say what you want but bob is nothing but efficient when unpacking- and bossing maverick and Bradley around for help.
When you arrive at the beach- you are delighted to see Penny and Maverick rekindling their love. However, before you make it over to them Bradley rushes over.
"I have something I need to tell you and I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier but I didn't think you would come and-"
"What is it?" you furrow your brow trying to look over your brothers shoulder. Bob looks just as confused as you do unsure as to what is making rooster so frazzled.
"Jake is here."
This confuses bob even further- because of course Jake is here?
"w-what" It feels like you take a shot of icy hot. both heat and freezing cold rushes through your veins.
"Does someone wanna clue me in?" You swallow and look up at your sweet husband- living proof that the sweet soft genuine love you always wanted does exist and you have it.
"Well- about 5 years ago, Jake and I were engaged..."
---Flashback---
It's late on a Friday night and you and your fiance Jake are laughing at an inside joke you two have. Your heart has never felt so full. You're both ignoring whatever movie you had turned on in the background- enjoying the night together instead.
In fact you remember spending the whole weekend like this- so wrapped up in each other- so in love that nothing else mattered. Laughter echo's the walls in your shared apartment.
That Sunday night- you giggled as he traced each of your features. Adamant that he would be able to memorize every piece of you, mind body and soul.
You just laughed at him and told him you'd be there for him to study every night. You didn't focus on his smile not reaching his eyes, nor the shaky breathe he let out.
You went to bed after a weekend that felt like a dream- a montage in a movie really.
And you woke up to a note on his empty bedside table saying I'm sorry- with his silver ring sitting on top.
-----
Bob knew the story- he knew everything about you and your past. Losing your father, losing your fiance and every other thing your brain would ever think of telling him.
He just didn't know that Jake was the ex fiance.
"I think I need a minute" Is all bob said- rubbing his hands down his face as he turns in the opposite direction for a walk.
"bob wait-" he turns and you can see the worry on his face- all his anxieties displayed right there.
"Honey- It'll be okay I just need a minute to process I promise"
and you understood- of course you did. If roles were reversed you don't know how okay you would be coming face to face with bob having an ex fiance and then it turning out to be someone that you would see everyday.
So you heave a sign and turn back to face rooster. Only he's twenty feet further away then you expected and he's blocking one very frantic Jake Seresin.
"Bradshaw just let me talk to her" You could see Bradley shake his head, but honestly you needed to clear the air. Hell you were married and happy- you've moved on.
"Bradley it's okay" your brother tenses his shoulders. You watch him tell Jake to stay put for one minute and he comes over to you.
"Are you sure? because if you're not sure or not ready to deal with all of this then say the word and we will go home and you can meet everyone another night" You laugh at his over protective big brother tone and shake your head.
"Bradley it was five years ago- I'm happily married I don't need to eat ice cream and cry about the past." you watch his serious face and he nods more than necessary
"Okay okay, but I will be right there and you just holler if you want me to kick his ass, I never got to the first time so" You just shove him away and watch as he does the I'm watching you signal to Jake.
You watch as Jake makes his way over to you, stopping with about three feet between you. The silence stretches for a minute, and he clears his throat.
"I- um Hi"
"hello" and you don't give anything more than that- the way you see it, you were ready to share every part of you for life with him and he threw it away. You don't owe him any more of you. You watch him- seeing the struggle in his green eyes you once knew so well. The ones you had nightmares about after he left. You watch as he heaves a sigh and tugs on his blond strands.
"I- I know words will never explain or show how truly sorry I am for how I treated you back then- for how I.... For how I ended things between us, I just want to say I'm so sorry. Genuinely I am so sorry and everyday I wake up and for a blissful three seconds I forget every stupid mistake I ever made and think I get to roll over and see your face but I never do..." His words shock you a little more than you thought they would. You never expected him to regret when he walked out that night. You figured he was a navy man through and through and navy men alway choose their jets over everything else.
You know that's not fair- that bob would choose you everyday of the week, but you watched it all your life. Jake knew that you watched Maverick choose his jet over ever settling down, you watched Bradley do the same, and then when Jake of all people did it to you- you never thought you would be able to mend that heartbreak.
The Irony of it was not only did you heal, you still chose a navy man who was in jets everyday.
When you first met bob you were smitten- so was he. However when you found out what he did and he watched your face turn sour- he thought he would never have a chance with you. He watched you distance yourself from him and bob was never good with confrontation so when he showed up drunk at your door asking why you suddenly didn't want him after you made him fall in love with you- you spilled everything.
Here the very reason that bob drunkely confessed to being in love with you stands before you and you can't help the heartache that surges through you. Not because your unhappy now- or that you would even change anything.
No the heartache surges through you because Jake looks lost. Like he left himself in your apartment that night and you left him there too when you moved places and moved on.
"Look Jake, did I hate you for a long time for what you did? Yes, but I've moved on, for so long I wanted this day to come- this apology to spill out of your mouth. Thinking someway the words would heal all the hurt you caused, and it doesn't. The hurt still happened, the pain is still a memory for me, but it grows more distant everyday and I'm really grateful. Jake as much as I loved you- I deserve someone that would choose me even when it's hard."
you watch as he swallows hard, nodding his head. You see the exact moment his eyes land on your left hand, the furrow in his brow and he takes in the shining diamond sitting delicately on your left hand. You see the shaky exhale he lets out.
"you found that then?" it's phrased as a question but you know it's more of a statement.
"yes, I found that" he nods and he looks everywhere but you.
"In another life... I would do things differently"
"I know" and you do, you can see his regret all over his face, you can see the heartache in his eyes- the same heartache that stared back at you in the mirror for months on end. You also know he will be okay, that he will heal and move on just like you did. You step closer, and rest your hand on his shoulder.
"things work out Jake, you'll be okay" and with that you step away, and make your way towards the rest of the group.
----
It takes bob a while to join the group again, and it has you worried. You never would've thought bob would be so hurt by this when he knew the story.
So when he joins the group in dog fight football but doesn't greet you know something isn't right. You try and let it going knowing when he is ready you two will talk but as the night progresses and he continues to ignore you, you start to get frustrated.
It's nearing the end of the day- bob just help score the last goal and his team won, the boys lift him up and start chanting his name which makes you grin.
They finally all make their way back over to you and Penny- who has been a great soundboard for how stressful today has been for you.
"That was great honey" you send bob a sweet smile- hoping that playing whatever insane version of football that was helped get his frustrations out.
"thanks." and he turns to talk to Phoenix. Penny shoots you a glance and you just sigh.
When everyone moves inside the bar to keep the party going, you make your rounds in getting to know everyone now that they aren't running around like maniacs.
However, during this bob strategically always seems to be on the opposite end of the bar from you. When it reaches a point that you are socially drained and talked to everyone you move to the bar, and sit by yourself nursing whatever drink penny concocted for you.
You're starting to get tired but whenever you try to get bobs attention he turns his body another direction. It reached a point where you are so frustrated that you call an uber.
"penny I'm gonna head- If bob asks I got an uber home" her eyebrows shoot up in surprise but she agrees to pass on the information, and watches you leave.
---
Now bob might've been mad- not really at you and he knows that. God he knows that, but he's so mad because he didn't realize jake was the Jake and he's mad at himself because he feels so insecure. How could you want someone like bob over someone like Jake.
He's really mad because he's scared. He is so in love with you, but what if you want jake back? What if you want to leave him now because your real love, your first love was never really bob?
What does he do when every time he looks at you, he sees you saying your leaving him, that you're sorry but it was never him and it never will be?
So when he turns around because he has been checking on you every five minutes- he has a timer on his watch so he doesn't do it too often and your gone he panics.
His eyes frantically search the bar- and he hates that when his eyes land on jake standing with coyote he's relieved that you aren't right there.
He searches the bar high and low, and still nothing. He waits, because maybe you just went to the bathroom but when ten minutes have passed and he realizes that is unlikely he anxiously makes his way to penny.
"penny where is she" and penny doesn't even have to look up to know it's bob asking about you.
"she went home"
"home- but- I drove"
"she took and uber" he swallows hard at that. Thinking of every time he saw an article about a woman getting attacked in an uber- You were alone out there with some stranger all because bob couldn't get his shit together.
So he hightails it out of there, and he drives home maybe a little quicker than he should. He gets home and all he sees is the light you left on in the entry way when you left, and he panics even more- where are you?
He rushes to your room, feeling like he is going to vomit up his own heart any second now. He sees the bathroom light on to your shared bathroom and the rush of relief cools his veins like he just got a cold glass of water in the Sahara.
He flings the bathroom door open and sees you jump as you wash your face.
"god bob you scared me" you mutter, trying to rid the soapy bubbles from your face.
"I am so so sorry honey" this causes you to look at him through the mirror.
"for scaring me or ignoring me today." your statement isn't angry, just blunt.
"both... god I'm sorry I was an ass today"
"yeah you were, care to explain?" you watch and he swallows.
"I'm so sorry darling, I was just so gutted with fear when I realized that Jake was your Jake and I realized maybe--- maybe you would want to leave me and take him back and god why wouldn't you he looks way better than me and then i go and treat you like shit on top of it, makes it an easy choice doesn't it and-"
"bob" you cut him off from his rant.
"I do not want to get back with Jake. I married you because I love you, with my whole soul, you make me laugh and you make so so very happy, even my best days with Jake don't compare to how happy I am with you every day." you watch his shoulder sag in relief. You make your way towards him, and pull him in close for a hug.
"I never want to hear you say that you aren't attractive, honey you are the most attractive man I have ever met, physically, emotionally, and in every other way imaginable." you hope he can see all the love you have for him shining in your eyes.
He hugs you back and squeezes like he really thought you might disappear on him and that breaks your heart more than anything else ever could.
"when I said I do honey, it's because I wanted to be with you for the rest of my life, nobody else. I love you more than anything or anyone else in the world and that will never change."
"I love you so much darling, I am so sorry I was stupid.... Please never uber anywhere again though they are so dangerous and I would've given you a ride" and you laugh at his antics because even clouded in his own insecurity and heartache he was worried about your safety.
Maybe that's why it was always meant to be bob, not anyone else. Bob may have bad days just like everyone else but above all else he cares so much it just scares him. You needed someone like bob to care for you after losing so much and he needed someone like you to choose him and soothe his worries away when they get to be too loud.
"it could never be anyone else"
you repeat the words a million times that night, and when you think about it, even the best weekend you ever had with Jake doesn't compare to everyday you have with Bob. It really could never have been anyone else.

16. veronica judo flipping lance upon their reunion on earth
17. lance, tongue out in concentration, knitting tiny little mouse sweaters
18. lance giving hunk a big ol’ cheek smooch bc he’s obnoxious (hunk pretends to be annoyed but is clearly holding back a smile)
18. coran and lance, faces both streaked with tears, hugging each other really tightly
19. keith really excitedly showing lance all the caves he explored when he was following blue’s trail and lance just staring at him, totally and completely whipped
20. pidge holding lance in a chokehold as he bites her. there are hearts around them bc they are both having literally so much fun even though they won’t admit it under pain of death
21. lance in daisy dukes and a cowboy hat, leaning against kaltenecker
22. lance, armour scuffed back from a rescue mission, teaching a bunch of scared alien children how to make friendship bracelets
23. lance and keith, on their honeymoon, faces half-obscured by the glare of the sun, grinning at the camera in front of the grand canyon (like this pic of my parents):
Tumblr media
24. lance wearing a “i flexed so hard the sleeves ripped off” but the sleeves are very clearly still on. in fact the shirt is long-sleeved
25. preteen lance, beaming so wide his eyes squeeze shut, pink braces on his teeth
26. young lance, like maybe six or seven, missing four front teeth, giant satisfied smile on his face, at the beach (wearing shark swim trunks obviously) and holding a sea shell bigger than his entire head
27. tiny lance sitting on his brother’s shoulders, laughing, rest of his smiling family around him
28. a mirror of the food fight scene except it’s cake that the whole team (including the alteans!) are covered in, with a cake that says “happy birthday dorkbrain” absolutely destroyed with like clear imprints of people scooping up handfuls to throw
29. lance, in the backdrop of space, limp and unconscious, with both red and blue rushing towards him with protective snarls
30. lance hugging an alien scorpion the size of like a fucking horse, tears streaming down his face as if he’s looking at a particularly adorable kitten
31. the entire team except lance (he’s on a mission or smth) gathered in the common room, lounging on the couches. someone says “man i miss lance” and everyone is immediately like “oh my god me too i was waiting for someone to say it” “RIGHT ME TOO” “castle just isn’t the same without him” “seriously i’m so bored where is he when you need to bother him” etc etc
honestly i might do more of these dm me if u can come up with alliteration for a day of the week and i’ll post drawing prompts weekly

Headcanon that Maverick adopts a retired base security dog once he retires, who unintentionally helps with his PTSD
He's wanted a dog his whole life, but his job negated that as a possibility. He loved his old family dog (the one we see in the photos on his bedside table in TG86) but he joined the navy so young he never got to have one of his own. After about a month of retirement and just sitting around completing small project after small project and waking up most nights to nightmares (about the accident of 86 and the uranium mission and darkstar, the list is endless) he decides he needs some routine company. Obviously Bradley and the rest of the dagger squad are working and when they're not he can't ask them to hang around for their whole leave, they have lives, so he goes to the Hard Deck a bit and hangs out with penny. There he sees Theo again and remembers how much he wants a dog. Maverick comes from foster homes and child care, so he's not entirely keen to just adopt from a breeder, he wants to rescue a dog. It's actually Hondo who puts the idea in his head about the retiring Top Gun base security dogs who will need homes. So he puts his name on a list. Two months pass when he gets an unexpected call from Top Gun. He panics a bit, thinking they've dug up some old dirt on him, but instead it's a nice woman telling him that a lovely eight year old, female belgian Malinois named Astrid who is retiring in a week, needs a home. He jumps on the opportunity, saying yes and immediately going out to buy everything he'll need, toys, beds, treats, the best brand of dog food. He feels a little over prepared in the end, like he has too many things. He does as much research into malinois as he can in the interim. He attends the retirement ceremony after everything is arranged and the hand over is seemless.
He now owns a dog.
Adjusting to life with a high energy working dog takes him a couple days, but they settle into a routine nicely. She joins him on his early morning 5 mile runs around his property, they do training sessions in the afternoons, he takes her into town for long walks. It's the first night he has a nightmare after he adopted her that he realises this was the best decision of his life. He can't breathe and he's sweating and he's panicking again, but suddenly he feels this gently pressure on his thigh and it brings him back to reality. Astrid had gently rested her head on him, applying careful pressure to ground him. He made sure to reward her for that, a few treats and lots of love. He made sure she knew she was welcome to sleep in the bed from then on. She was always keeping an eye on him after that. Maverick likes to think he needed her just as much as she needed him. They became inseparable. She went everywhere with him. Bradley was stoked that Mav had gotten a dog, coming around more to play with her often. It warms Maverick's heart to see them together.
These days, you can often find Maverick taking long walks along the beach at sun set, throwing the ball for Astrid while he watches the Top Gun students return from their afternoon hop. He thought he would hate retirement, but Astrid gave him a reason to look forward to every day

In Light Of Recent Events
2004 Jeff and Penny have been living rent-free in my mind.
Not sure if I'll go further with this one at the moment, but it was prompted by this post here.
Tagging @firstonthescene because it was also prompted by our discussion the other day and I thought you might like to see it!
AO3 link here, but the full fic is below the cut!
--------------------------------
“You look as though you’ve hardly slept a wink. Have you been awake all night?”
Jeff grumbled in response to Penelope’s questioning. Did he really look as terrible as he felt? He yawned, maundering down to the breakfast bar and ruffling his hair, which only served to make it even more untidy and unkempt than before. He slid onto the stool beside Penelope’s.
“Good morning to you too, Penny. Here I thought you Brits had more manners.”
Without skipping a beat she poured him a coffee from the cafetière and slid it over to him with a smile.
Another yawn, this time stifled, and Jeff raised the cup to his lips. The scent was strong, helping to alert his senses far before the taste could. Bitter and potent; whoever made this batch was certainly a coffee lover.
That ruled Penny out.
“You haven’t yet answered the question, Jeff.” She no-so-subtly prompted as she returned to her newspaper. Only Penny would have possession of the latest copy while on retreat on a private island. Perhaps Parker had done a quick supplies run before sunrise for her…
“It’s fine.” Jeff claimed, though doubt laced his words.
He cast a quick glance out of the veranda, at the still pools that lay beyond. In spite of the early hour, he realised it was far too quiet considering the amount of people the villa was currently host to. “Where is everyone?”
“I believe most of them are down at the beach, though Brains could still be cooped up in his lab.” Penelope folded the paper and lowered it. She twirled in her seat to better face Jeff. “If I were you, I would try and get a few more hours of rest.”
From above the crease where Penny had folded the paper glared the unmistakable eyes of the Hood. Jeff stared back with a scowl.
Manicured nails clicked in front of his face. “Don’t look at that. It’s over now.”
“Is it?”
Jeff was reluctant to believe it. He tore his gaze away from the printed photo.
“I don’t know, Penny, something tells me we’ll be seeing him again, sooner than any of us would like.”
“That is out of any of our hands and a hurdle we shall jump if it gets to it. Right now, Jeff, you need sleep.”
“Can’t.” He replied stubbornly, jumping off the stool with a large stretch. Something in his lower back clicked. He was getting too old for this. “I’ve got to run a post-mission report by the President.”
“Let Scott or Virgil handle it.”
“They’ve already been through enough. They deserve a break.”
“As do you.”
As they all did, Jeff thought to himself. International Rescue’s work very rarely led them into dealing, first-hand, with criminals who sought to obliterate them where they stood. Jeff found himself eternally grateful for Penelope’s unwavering support. Without her, they’d all be… well, he’d rather not think of that.
“I’ll try and get some nap time in after the call.”
“Nonsense! You’ll go for a nap right now.”
“Yes, mom.” The quick quip was thrown before Jeff could rein it back in.
Penny, though she pretended to be unimpressed by his jibe, elegantly slid off her perch with an amused smirk. “Your mother would tell you the same as I, Jeff, as well you know. Now, get yourself back to bed.”
Jeff chuckled. He observed the sun, now fully risen over the horizon. He had come so close to never seeing it again. His boys had come so close to never seeing it again. Now, in the distance, he could hear the laughter and cheers of the family as they played on the beach below the villa, under the warmth of that radiant star.
They were home, but it had been close.
Too close.
For a moment, Jeff acknowledged the truth behind his lack of wanting to sleep. It did not solely lie with the report he was due to give. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the face of that tyrant, of the man who had tried to take everything away from him. The man who had so very nearly succeeded.
He saw his boys suffocating.
He saw his youngest almost fall to an early, gruesome demise.
He saw Lucille’s disappointed face from beyond the grave as she scrutinised his actions that had nearly led all of them to the point of no return.
Jeff hadn’t slept — didn’t want to sleep — simply because he couldn’t.
Penny’s expectant curiosity caught his attention. She was good at reading people. It was what made her an expert field agent, but rarely did Jeff find it comforting when the skill was used on him.
Today, for once, he did.
Her hand gently lay upon his arm. “It will pass, Jeff.”
“Will it?”
Perhaps it was the lack of sleep that made Jeff feel like he was on the verge of crumbling. The weight of all that had passed had begun to press down upon him heavily.
“These things take time.”
“What if I don’t have time, Penny?” Desperation overtook his normal ability to suppress those nagging worries. “He knows who we are, where we are! A man like that might have no end of friends who would happily pick up his dirty work while he’s locked away. What’s to say he hasn’t already tattled? What’s to say we’re not already being targeted again? What’s to say we’re not just sitting ducks?”
“Jeff.” Penelope gently coaxed him back from the threat of his spiral.
He felt ridiculous, almost embarrassed to be so worked up over something that, as Penelope had already claimed, was now in the past. It didn’t stop his fear. John, arguably the member of the team who was the least likely to get into any peril from their actions on Earth, had been the sitting duck yesterday. Who was to say one of his other boys wouldn’t be a target tomorrow?
A sigh passed between his lips. Perhaps there was an argument to be made regarding his lack of sleep after all.
Determined to not appear overwhelmed, despite his feelings on the contrary, Jeff offered his best smile. “I know, I know. Listen, I need to go and make this call. I’ll be up in the Round House. If the boys ask, tell them I’ll be down for lunch.”
“That is unless sleep gets the better of you, of course.”
Her eyes did not pity him but sympathy was evidently present. Jeff knew that, for as long as Tracy Island needed her, for as long as he needed her, she’d remain, no matter how long it took to clean up the mess.
“Thank you, Penny.”
“What ever for?”
“All of it.”
The morning passed by easier with the help of Penelope’s words.
She did not need to know about the thirty minutes of catch-up sleep Jeff sought when he reached the Round House, nor did she need to be aware of the extra forty minutes he caught after he’d finished his call with the President, but he knew, as he returned to that kitchen at lunch, that she would correctly surmise it.

Okay, we all know ahb! James and Regulus did not get a Brazil house Christmas together, but the holidays are coming up and I've been thinking a lot about what a Brazil house Christmas would look like and I thought I would share some thoughts because I love Christmas dearly.
James would insist that everyone come to Brazil to see them during the first Christmas and even though it's summertime there, he's committed to the traditional winter aesthetic!
James cuts up a bunch of oranges and dehydrates them in the oven and Regulus sews all the dehydrated oranges together with twine to make garland to decorate the house (they both sit in the kitchen together and work silently side-by-side just happy to be together in their house) (photo for reference ⤵️)
Tumblr media
Barty and Evan get there a week before everyone else and are absolute menaces (what's new?) They somehow manage to break the star at the top of the Christmas tree and they are petrified to tell James because James Potter takes Christmas the most seriously™️ like they would rather tell Regulus, seriously, before they had to tell James they broke his precious tree
Unbeknownst to them, Regulus and James bought a spare star just for that reason, but Barty and Evan scour the town anyway to find 'the best star in the world' to make it up to them. They come back with a glass star that has a picture of Regulus' face taped to it and James loves it so much he nearly cries. Regulus hates it. So much. But he'll let James have this one.
Marlene and Dorcas arrive a day early to surprise everyone and after Barty is done admonishing Marlene for missing their weekly phone call the week before, Marlene takes James into the kitchen to catch up.
James pours the wine while he (futilely) attempts to explain why it's fancy and what notes of fruitiness and hints of vanilla it has (he's trying to learn about wine from Regulus, but it's still not going too well) and Marlene complains about the sweltering heat because James has had the oven on all day dehydrating oranges and claims next Christmas should be spent at Sirius' and Remus' flat where it's actually winter and James protests because his house is 'literally the Christmas house.'
Dorcas helps Regulus string up the last minute orange garlands while they talk about Italy and all the Basilica's Marlene and Dorcas have been too
Lily and Mary arrive next with a million presents for everyone all meticulously wrapped and decorated and Barty and Evan lose their minds because neither of them have seen so many presents before (they immediately start shaking all the boxes as they try to guess what's inside)
When Sirius and Remus arrive, Sirius takes great offence to the Regulus star at the top of the tree and employs Mary and Lily on a secret mission to print a photo of himself and tape his face to the star as well in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep (it's a big success and in the morning everyone has a good laugh looking at Regulus' and Sirius' faces on the star side by side) Regulus hates the star a little less now
Sirius and Remus bring their dog with them and Barty and Evan delight in chasing the dog around the house everywhere until Regulus banishes all three of them (Barty, Evan, and the dog) to the beach to play around.
Lily makes the best chelsea buns in the world for breakfast with her secret recipe and the house smells delightful all day
On Christmas Eve Regulus can't sleep and he comes down the stairs to find Sirius sitting on the bottom step, his face lit by the fairy lights (James insists they keep on throughout the night)
They have a long conversation about their lives and how they have the family they've always wanted. They talk about how grateful they are to be together and this Christmas Eve they both feel a little bit like children again, but it's not sad this time. It's nice.
When Sirius eventually goes to bed, Regulus goes to sit by the Christmas tree that's all lit up and he stares out the open window at the dark night. The house is silent because everyone else is asleep except James, who comes down to check on him once he realises Regulus isn't in bed.
Regulus points out the angel ornament that has a picture of James as a baby for the face and quietly whispers that that ornament is his favourite. James smiles because his mum sent him that ornament so he could have a piece of home with him.
There is mistletoe everywhere thanks to James who is obsessed with it. He's always trying to 'trick' Regulus into standing in places so he can kiss him under the mistletoe (Regulus knows exactly where every single piece of mistletoe is hung and will occasionally,,,, as casually as possible,,, stand underneath some and wait for James to notice)
The entire house is filled with love and light and laughter and sheer chaos and Christmas turns into a weeks long celebration that bleeds into New Years because everyone just loves being all together
They do all agree to spend next Christmas at Remus' and Sirius' though and James is only convinced by the idea of snow.
Dorcas would play the piano while Marlene and Barty sing the most off-key (very drunk) version of 'Baby It's Cold Outside'
Mary sings 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and nearly brings everyone to tears
Sirius sings 'All I want for Christmas is You' and tries his very hardest to hit the high notes (it's actually impressive)
Remus is the bartender during this Christmas karaoke sing-along night and it's thanks to his heavy-handed pours that anyone is brave enough to sing anything at all
Everyone joins in to sing 'Wonderful Christmastime' except no one can get the lyrics right/at the same time so it's more a mess of chaotic laughter and jumbled lyrics with 'ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong' thrown in very loudly (Regulus actually mumbles under his breath much to James' delight and regards the scene very very fondly)
Outside, the sunflowers in the garden are growing so tall they could practically touch the sky.

the inception of snow and serah’s relationship could have been something so interesting had we been afforded a little more time and complexity that stayed true to their characters. we deserved a little more than young star-crossed lovers and “she’s fun to follow around.” so here's my play:
years of futile arguments over a cornered lightning wasting away her prowess and serving the sanctum leads serah to defy light’s wishes and find revolution of her own in NORA. a young operative serah falls heavy for snow’s confidence, charm, and attractive defiance (a rebellion so contrasting her sister’s, a man who encourages her radical ideas in a way her sister will never entertain, he’s everything she wishes light was). snow thinking she’s cute, even a little bit gorgeous, guiding her movements during training, finding his gaze wandering over to her after sessions, finding himself wondering why she stays so late after (later and later now that her sister’s caught on and screaming at her for working with the very people who serve as a thorn in her employers' side, threatening the life and protection she’s given up everything for), what she’s thinking and brooding over when she stares out into space and at their orphan photos on the wall, getting a sense of pent up turmoil inside. but he knows better than to mess with one of his younger recruits… until one day she’s crying that she can’t go home and he lets her stay the night. and he’s stroking her tears away on the couch and kissing all over her cheeks and once on her quivering lips, and she wakes curled in the soft haven of his arms that so remind her of her sister when they were little that she can’t help but cry again.
serah retreating to the fal’cie ruins and getting branded is a consequence of one of his missions. they’re a few months into their budding relationship (can they even call it that?) and she’s accustomed to his spontaneity and recklessness when it comes to rebel activities, but she still wakes up crying on the beach, screaming his and her sister’s names. she knows she’s a threat now, to the organization and her friends and her sister and to him (a NORA operative, turned monstrous l’cie?). the best thing would be to break herself off, break away from it all and lick her wounds in private.
“what happened? at least tell me that. being alone’s alright i guess. always was until we met.” snow’s guilt is what eats him up. one of HIS little band of misfits, someone he cares about, branded and cursed as a result of his oversight. “i didn’t know what to do, didn’t know how to set things straight.” if he hadn’t recruited her, hadn’t sent her to fight, hadn’t egged her on and reveled so much in stealing her from her snooty sanctum sister…
he vows to protect her the same way he does hope. “he couldn’t let serah face the wrath of the fal’cie himself.” he’s a humble man who doesn’t have much, but everything he has will be hers. he’s always been an all-or-nothing type of guy. “i’ll stand by you, no matter what happens.” he’ll bring her under his protection. he wasn’t there to be branded with her, but he and serah will be bound together in marriage under the sanctum’s eyes. an attack on his wife is cause for retribution from all the rebel forces he’s amassed and inspired. “they would search for her focus and complete it together. after that… he didn’t know.”
and thus their consummation is one of bluster and naivety and desperation and disaster, as he’s reminded of again and again through her sister’s fists. a fragile framework held together by his unrelenting passion and a promise made over a bridge that comes crashing down with the rest of their planet.
but what do promises mean now when half his family’s gone missing? the other three women he loved? serah so depressed over the loss of her sister that he won’t even bring up her name around her. lightning leaving him behind when they swore they’d build this new home together, going after fang and vanille on her own like she’d never given a fig about his feelings at all, like he wasn’t preening for the adventure, like she could nail him down so easily under the guise of becoming her sister's keeper. like she thinks he’s the type of man who’d be content to stay behind while his sister fights a hidden war without him. like she could just corral him into an ultimatum: protect serah or come after us.
“if you don’t know who you’ve got to save, you just protect them all, right?”
what is snow and serah when serah’s not serah until she reconnects with lightning? when snow’s not snow while his family fights without him?

It's a Date
A Semi-Modern College Miphlink One Shot
As Link found himself standing outside an apartment door, a pair of steaming hot drinks In hand, he couldn’t help but think one thing: It was way too early for this.
When he had signed up for a year abroad in Lanayru months ago, this was far from what Link had in mind. But after running into an… old friend, it had become routine for Link to wake up much earlier than truly necessary. It was a routine he enjoyed, yes, even looking forward to it each night prior, but these mornings… Well, the near bitter chill of a Goponga early morning was always a detracting force.
Old friend… yeah, that’s what they were. Friends.
They had met… Goddess, nearly sixteen summers ago when Link and his family vacationed in Goponga. The vacation itself wasn’t all too promising initially, despite the absolute striking beauty of the city, as Link found it… difficult to make friends, so to say. Lanayru itself was a water dominant environment after all, with its multiple lakes, inner-connected islands, and water canals, making it perfect for the Zora heavy population and vacationing couples looking for a scenic respite.
Not perfect for a young Hylian boy looking for friends to play with however, who was unable to keep up with the local Zora kids and their far superior swimming skills. They weren’t necessarily malicious to him; they were all kids, after all, but… it still stung all the same being left behind.
Link wasn’t one to give up though, refusing to allow these setbacks to ruin his vacation. So, the Hylian had made it his mission to instead snap as many photos of all the odd native creatures and insects as possible, putting to use a disposable camera he had brought with him on the trip. The collection was growing ever more impressive with each snap too! …Until he had dropped the camera in a canal while trying to capture a photo of the elusive arowana.
That was it, he figured. The vacation was certainly ruined… or at least, that was the case, until he met Mipha.
His saving grace came in the form of an unexpected encounter with her, who was apparently observing his seemingly odd antics nearby. And in an act of kindness, she had dove in after the camera in an attempt to retrieve it for him. It was ultimately a futile attempt, sure, as the disposable film was ruined beyond repair, but that mattered little.
The two had become fast friends after that, bonding over both shared interests and mutual fascination in each other’s unique backgrounds, their families spending the remainder of their vacations together. Whether it was a trip to the beach, a shopping spree acquiring souvenirs, or lazy days exploring the vast city, the two had stuck together every step of the way. Mipha had even brought along her own waterproof camera for them to recapture his lost collection of creatures, then gifting it to Link to take home with him.
Unfortunately, the vacation marked the last time he saw her. With his family’s frequent moves over the years, maintaining communication through letters became nearly impossible. All he had left were the cherished memories captured in the photos they took together and the camera she gifted him, which he had kept safe until his enrollment at Zora Hall University. “She couldn’t believe I still had that camera. Man, her laugh… it was something else.”
“Good morning, Link.” Drawn back to the present, Link heard Mipha greet him as she did every day, closing the door to her apartment in the process.
“Morning.” Moving to walk beside her as he spoke, the two began their trudge to their morning classes, Link then handing her one of the drinks. “Here. Still warm.”
She took the drink from him almost immediately, Mipha’s hand grazing his for a moment, the heat lingering, causing Link a momentary pause. “Thank you.” Stopping to quickly blow on the drink to hopefully prevent a burn, Mipha took a cautious sip, her eyes lighting up the second the drink hit her lips. “Ooh, that’s perfect. I think that’s your best one yet.”
“Oh uh- Really?” He nearly stammered out in response as they grew closer to the elevator, Link reaching out to press the down button. “Hmmmmmm… I think you said that yesterday… and the day before that.” The door then opened, the two filing into the enclosed space, a wry-smile crossing his face. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’re trying to sweet-talk me into being your personal barista.”
“I would never!” Playing along Mipha placed her free hand over her heart and closed her eyes as she feigned offense. “…That wasn’t exactly a no, was it?” With a playful glint of a single now opened eye, she held her otherwise stone-faced expression, relenting only when Link chuckled. Their laughter, quiet and brief, lasted only as long as the elevator descending to the lobby, rattling gently once arrived.
Stepping out of the elevator, they exchanged nods of acknowledgement with the group entering before continuing towards the university. Mipha’s morning class was conveniently held in one of the closer buildings, just a short walk away really. It was… refreshing, truthfully, Link thought, closing his eyes and taking a quick deep breath as they exited the building. Goddess, it never was too early for this, was it?
“You know, Link’s eyes opened as Mipha spoke. “I… I meant what I said. I truly appreciate the coffee, I love the way you make it, …it may even be the highlight of my day.”
Caught slightly off guard, Link blinked, trying to process her words while his mind utterly blanked on him. “Uh, thanks…” The highlight of her day? Now that was certainly an overexaggeration. It had to be, he figured. “I mean, it’s not all that special, really. Just a simple mix my mother came up with… I could give it to you though, if you’d like.”
His offer hung amongst them as the two continued towards the college, now making their way through the quiet market street as the aroma of freshly baked bread and morning treats filled the air. Shops of all types were opening for the day, all before the soon expected morning frenzy.
“Well,” Mipha begun to speak once past the denser towpath, the two crossing a quaint bridge over one of the many canals. “I think it is that good, amazing even. However,” her face then shifted, appearing… conflicted. “If it troubles you, I can certainly make it myself if that is the case. I don’t want you to feel obligated to make it for me. I'm sorry if I gave off that impression."
“No no, I don’t mind it at all,” His reply came quick, Link nearly tripping over his words initially, pausing to better express his response. “It’s just… I figured if you did like it that much, I could give the recipe to you, so you can make it whenever. You know?” He hadn’t meant to make her feel guilty, not at all! In fact, he even liked making it for her each morning! While waiting for the pot to brew he would find himself imagining her delighted smile drinking it, the satisfied sigh that escaped her after that first sip, the grin she would share with him when thanking him for the drink. She did have a lovely smile, he loved that something he made was able to have that impact on her.
Mipha's conflicted expression softened into one of gratitude as Link spoke. "I appreciate the offer, truly," she replied, her voice warm and sincere. "But… I think the way you make it is perfect. It wouldn't be the same if I made it myself." Her gaze lingered on him for a moment before returning to the path ahead, a slight blush tinting her cheeks, perhaps from the cool morning air.
Link stumbled over his words for a moment. Perfect. It was perfect. Her words cluttered his thoughts, causing him to fumble over his response. "Uh- well uh," he began, his voice slightly shaky before he regained his composure. "I'm really glad you like it. I'll uh, keep making it."
“I… I appreciate that immensely, Link.”
The conversation seemingly dying there, the pair continued their walk, a now somewhat dense awkwardness stifling the air around them, leaving Link to his thoughts. “This is… ughhhh…” He groaned inwardly at the deafening silence.
Why was wrong with him? They had been walking to the university together for a little while now, even hanging out for occasional study sessions or the very rare parties held in the area. It had never been this awkward before, conversation seemed to flow so natural for them it was as if they had never gone years without speaking. So why was he finding it harder as of late? Nothing had really changed, had it?
Growing bold. Link glanced over to Mipha, attempting to figure out what she was thinking, only to catch her the very moment she had apparently looked at him, their eyes meeting. Great, time to commit. “So…”
“So…” She said in response.
Great, he got a total of one word out.
Ignoring his inner voice’s chiding, Link continued. “So… remember that that place you were telling me about a while back. Riverside Dine, was it? Well, I had to run over to the Marot Mall yesterday, and I think I saw it open yesterday.” Well, it was something, that was undeniable.
“Oh, you’re right! I read about them opening in the school’s paper last week!” Renewed energy seemed to have been ignited in Mipha, her excitement swiftly replacing the silent demeanor from moments ago. “I’ve been meaning to go, supposedly they have a fantastic blueshell snail soup!”
“Hmmm, that does sound good.” A satisfied hum escaped his lips as he spoke, Link’s stomach already imagining the dish. True, it had been years since he had blueshell snail soup, but from what he remembered when they had the dish during that vacation, Mipha promising it was incredible, it already sounded delicious. “You thinking of going anytime soon?”
His question lingered, Mipha evidently taking a second to answer. “I suppose so,” The college grew closer as Mipha spoke, the two passing through the large archway leading to one of the main pathways to the buildings. “It would be nice to check it out. What about you? I’m sure they got other stuff that’s edible for Hylians.”
“Yeah, maybe. Even if they don’t have a whole lot, that soup should be enough.” A faint smirk then crossed Link’s face, the Hylian taking a pause before continuing. “Might have to ask for it a little more cooked, but that won’t ruin it or anything.” Putting more emphasis on the word cooked, he stared straight ahead, forcing his face to remain absolutely still.
“…Huh…?” Mipha tilted her head a tad in response, confusion evident on her face, but only for a moment, quickly giving way to mock outrage. “Oh! That was SIXTEEN years ago!” She threw her arms up in an exaggerated manner, causing Link to finally break, a much more lively laugh bubbling forth. She too broke out into laugh, attempting to stifle it but failing at first. “Can- can you blame me? We were kids! That was my favorite meal and you ordered it more cooked. You may as well as asked for it burnt!”
His laugh finally dying down, Link wiped at his eye, taking a minute to steady his breaths. “Come on, burnt is a little extreme,” he teased, shaking his head at Mipha’s playful dramatics. Her eye roll only made his smile return once more. That was more like it, this was much more enjoyable.
The moment didn’t last long, however, the two arriving at their destination, stopping at the bottom of the stairs leading to Mipha’s building. Link’s smile dimmed ever so slightly as he realized this was it, most likely seeing her again till tomorrow. “Thanks for walking with me,” she said sincerely, her gratitude evident. “I appreciate it.”
“Of course,” Ignoring the… growing disappointment within him, Link spoke. “It’s always a pleasure.”
As they stood there, a moment of uncertainty hung in the space amongst them, their eyes locked in a stare down in what felt like forever. Finally, Mipha broke the silence, her words soft as she offered a warm smile. “Well, see you tomorrow.”
Link returned the smile, albeit a little forced, feeling a… mix of emotions swirling within himself. “Yeah,” he replied with, his voice lowering in volume. “See ya tomorrow.”
As Mipha started up the stairs, Link watched her for a moment. These walks were always the highlight of his day, but lately he had left each one feeling just a little… disappointed. …Why? He’d see her tomorrow, he knew this to be true, and yet…
Almost making his leave, Link hesitated, looking back at her for a second. Tomorrow, he’d see her tomorrow…
“Hey, Mipha!” Overcome with a strange new sense of courage, Link climbed up the stairs behind her, closing the distance between while Mipha stopped to face him once more. “Hey uh- you… Are you free later, by chance? Around noon, maybe?”
Mipha blinked in surprise, her cheeks coloring slightly. “Oh? Y- uh, yes, I believe so,” she stammered, clearly caught off guard. “Why do you ask?”
“Well,” ignoring the confusing pressure building up in his heart and forcing the words caught in his throat out, Link spoke, attempting to sound much more relaxed. “How do you feel about us going to Riverside Dine later? …For lunch, that is.” He watched her with baited breath as time seemed to stretch on infinitely, beginning to almost wish he hadn’t ever asked in the first place.
Mipha’s eyes widened in surprise, the Zora struggling to form a response, but then a soft smile spread across her face. “O- of course, Link. I’d love that.”
Oh, thank Hylia. Relief rushed throughout his body, easing his now diminishing jitters. “Awesome, see ya then.”
See you then.” As Mipha waved goodbye she began to head back up the stairs, looking back at him one last time. “It’s a date!” She called back over her shoulder, her smile mirroring his own.
…She said yes. She said yes! Making his leave once again, excitement flooded Link’s body at the thought of his newfound plans, but the feeling quickly subsided.
It’s a date.
He couldn’t explain it, but the words lingered in his mind. …Why? After all, it was just a common phrase people said to one another, to friends. Friends, which they were, something he greatly valued. Sure, he had made other friends during his stay in Lanayru, sure, he had friends back in Hateno and Central Hyrule, but none of them had him feeling as good as his friendship with Mipha. None of them had him waking up early to brew her favorite coffee and walk her to class. He loved his friendship with her… So why did he feel as if his heart was now about to leap out of his chest?
He shook his head, trying to dispel the inexplicable thoughts crowding his mind. “Date. Between friends,” he reminded himself firmly. There was no reason for him to read too much into it. …Why was he even thinking about this in the first place? It wasn’t a date, obviously, he knew this.
He was just having lunch with a friend, with Mipha. Oh, how Link looked forward to newly opened restaurant, trying a dish he hadn’t had in years, one he knew Mipha absolutely loved. He looked forward to how she would place the order, her eyes lighting up once it would be delivered. The conversation they would share, the jokes and laughs leaving Link feeling warmer than the soup ever could. Just seeing her smile at the food, her laugh at the jokes, had him feeling more excited than Link could ever properly explain.
“…Oh shit.”

How do the rest of the daggers react to Hollywood and Jake’s deaths?
Bruises // Jake Seresin
Hollywoods (Reader) Death
-> Hangman:
Absolutely destroyed. There’s a deep sense of guilt imbedded into him that he should have done more.
He goes between believing you did it on purpose to believing wholeheartedly that it was just an accident.
Jake never recovers, he ultimate ends up swallowing his entire collection of pain killers to be with you again.
-> Rooster:
Takes it on the chin.
He’s used to people he cares about leaving him.
Sure it hurts for a while, you left a deep impression on his heart just from your ability to still have empathy and understanding for others after what you went through.
Rooster doesn’t cry, but he mourns you. He cleans out your locker on behalf of Jake.
-> Phoenix:
Is in utter disbelief at first. She doesn’t understand how you survived so much and died besides the man you loved.
Helps coordinate your funeral.
Cries whenever she’s alone but never around Jake or Bradley. Bob sometimes catches a glum but Phoenix is usually pretty good at keeping her emotions in check.
-> Bob:
Like Phoenix, his initial reaction is disbelief.
Bob cried for days. He doesn’t understand any of it. He rings his mum to tell so someone, just anyone who will listen because your story makes him queasy his religious beliefs. He doesn’t believe a god worth serving would put someone through what you went through just to take you in your sleep.
-> Fanboy:
Cooks meal after meal after meal.
He knows Jake won’t be doing well so decides that cooking for him would be the best way to help.
He organised for the Daggers to hold a small celebration of your life down by the beach before the funeral. It’s casual, there’s drinks and Jake gets so drunk out of grief that Fanboy has to carry him home:
-> Coyote:
Doesn’t have a single word to say.
He found out while driving and had to pull over to throw up.
At the funeral his knees feel weak. He doesn’t have any words to describe the feeling of grief that he feels so deeply. His bones feel like they ache at the thought of you possibly giving up the good fight.
-> Payback:
Immediately believes it’s a tragic accident.
Doesn’t want to even consider that you did this on purpose.
Understandable though he knows what trauma does to a person. So the more he finds out about the situation, the more he realises that maybe, just maybe, you did it on purpose.
Makes sure to remove all the hard liquor from Jake’s home.
-> Mav:
Questions why someone who he once considered a friend would send their only daughter on a mission he knew was a suicide mission.
Jakes Death:
-> Rooster:
He’s the one who finds Jake. He tried to save him by shoving his fingers down this wings-man’s throat but it’s to no avail. Jakes gone.
He’s mad. So mad it consumes him.
Rooster goes the rest of his life believe Jake Seresin was a coward.
-> Phoenix:
When she’s first told the news, it’s denial at its finest.
Phoenix doesn’t believe Jake would do that, but when Rooster stares her down and physically starts to sob? She knows it’s true.
Helps coordinate the funnel.
-> Bob:
Understands why Jake did what he did the minute he found out.
Feels conflicted. He once again questions his belief systems and wants answers to questions he can’t ask because the people he needs to ask those questions to are gone.
Swears blind he sees Jake at his own funeral. Lingering around the coffin like a lost soul.
-> Fanboy:
Cooks for the entire squad. Organises for everyone to stay together at Hakes house the days following his death.
Tells Rooster that he’ll contact Jakes family to see how they’re going.
-> Coyote:
Can’t process the idea Jake Seresin isn’t on this earth anymore. He doesn’t feel whole anymore.
Goes through all their old photos and recounts memories for months after his friends death.
-> Payback:
His immediate reaction is that at least Jake is with you, where he needed to be.
Has a reoccurring dream about you and Jake on a farm somewhere he doesn’t recognise.
-> Mav:
Two losses from the same squad is enough for him. He mourns Jake like a son.

Though it may come as a surprise, Bruce is in fact a romantic at heart. Though his mission will always take top priority, if he can find a partner that understands this, melds with his work &&. personal life all in a way that helps support him, he does his best to balance what he can to make room for them. He knows when he does start to fall, as with all he feels, he can grow to be intense. It’s why he strays so far from romantic feelings for that very reason, knowing his heart is very easy to shatter.
For romantic gestures, the main love languages he uses to show his affection for someone, are done through *physical touch, *acts of service &&. *gift giving.
PHYSICAL TOUCH [ ; ] Holding hands, measuring their sizes, memorizing the patterns of their fingers, how they bend, how they mesh against his own — he likes committing what he can of his partner to memory. He has a very good memory, fearing the worst, so being able to take small moments of quiet calm to indulge in physical touch, showing his affection through massages meant to ease someone down, in gently tucking hair behind their ear or smoothing a hand along the bend of their jaw — though Bruce is not particularly one for touch, as soon as there is a deepened connection he can feel safe &&. secure in, he will behave like a man starved of affection.
ACTS OF SERVICE [ ; ] He enjoys being able to provide comfort, safety &&. reassurance to others — though he struggles with it, awkward at the initiation stage where he will just do things in secrecy, once he’s more comfortable, he will outwardly begin to do gestures to show his care. Via cooking for his loved ones, taking care of a task if he’s able to, giving guidance or teaching what he knows — it’s his way of showing trust, devotion through hard-earned loyalty. It helps ease something in his chest if he’s able to take care of someone in a tangible way — a thing no doubt picked up from Alfred.
GIFT GIVING [ ; ] Gifts are the easiest way for him to express fondness. He does prefer handmade gifts, feeling they bear a more personalized touch for the person receiving them. He also holds the belief that memories are important, tied to physical items, &&. though it’s a little morbid, if he cares for someone, he does try to make sure gifts he gives are ones that can be looked back fondly on through a good memory of a bad one. …also, he has an easier time dropping a surprise gift off &&. making one of his mysterious exits before he’s confronted / cornered.

The Australian Crawl
When living nearby, I used to swim at the North Sydney Pool. One of the most spectacular swimming pools in the world. As you swim in one direction you face the iconic LUNA PARK, and in the other direction is that famous ‘coat hanger’ - the SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE.
Tumblr media
Swimming laps at the North Sydney Pool
Though I came to love it, my introduction to swimming was fraught with drama. While kick-boarding in an ocean rock pool at the age of 6, my board was flicked from my hands when a wave came over the sea wall. I went from misplaced confidence to abject terror within two gulpings of sea water. Thankfully, Dad spotted me going under and ran along the sea wall, dived in, and fished me out.
I was wary of the water afterward. This wasn’t helped by my maternal grandfather ‘teaching’ me how to swim by literally throwing me in at the deep end a few times. Amazingly, this did not result in spontaneous swimming skills. Quite the opposite - I became allergic to the water. However, near the end of high school, after years of avoiding the pool, I became fed up with myself and wanted to learn to swim.
My childhood friend John Dillon was an all around athlete, and offered to meet me at the town pool in the early mornings, and teach me. Mentally, I prepared for gruelling water boarding torture. However, under JD’s patient guidance, I was swimming within no time at all. Seriously, within a few days. Something that had intimidated me for so long was suddenly doable, and I threw myself into it. By the time I lived near the North Sydney Pool, I was a decent swimmer. Doing laps a few times a week.
——————
Later, when living & working in Tokyo, swimming at a pool near Takadanobaba Station was part of my daily routine. A little swimming in the sea happened too. My girlfriend Shoko arranged a summer vacation in Shimoda, a popular beach town. I was amazed at the density of the crowds on the sand, as anxious lifeguards patrolled the shoreline, warily watching the equally crowded surf.
I wanted to show people at home in Australia what a crowded beach really looked like, so we walked up to the heads to take a photo. As I did so, I saw some little children playing with kick-boards in the deep water below us. No sooner was I reminded of the time that I lost my kick-board at about the same age, when suddenly, one of the kids was caught in the backwash off the rocks. A wave stole her kick-board, and she went under.
Nearby, people screamed in alarm, and Shoko urged them to run & tell the lifeguards, as I slid down the steep rock face and into the sea. The moment I hit the water, I regretted not first removing my shoes & clothes. Which instantly became waterlogged, and extraordinarily heavy. Thankfully I was swimming a lot in those days, in good shape, and reached the little girl within seconds.
The next problem was how to get her out of the sea. The way I’d come was an almost vertical sheet of rock, so I headed for the shore. Holding her out of the water while swimming backwards, as I’d seen on TV shows & movies. About halfway, I was met by a lifeguard who took her off my hands, checked that I was OK, then struck out powerfully for the beach.
I swam to an accessible spot on the rocks, where Shoko anxiously waited. The little girl’s dad approached, and thanked me profusely, in a jackhammer blur of rapid bowing. Then scurried away, red faced with embarrassment. Shoko thought that the family had been distracted from their kids by a drinking party. We’d seen several such jolly family gatherings on the sand..
It felt good to help that little girl, and does to this very day. I was grateful that my pal John had taught me to swim. Otherwise I couldn't have helped, and the lifeguard wouldn't have reached her in time from the beach.
——————
A few years later, in San Francisco, I joined the Chinatown YMCA, and became a regular user of their pool. Swimming a mile 3 times a week after work. Or at lunchtime at a pool in the Mission District with a trio of coworkers (with office gossip on the drive to & from our swim). This was the period when I swam the most devotedly. Actually thinking about swimming, and looking forward to it. After much trial and error, I eventually figured out how to do proper tumble-turns. Allowing me to maintain a sustained rhythm without interruption.
The laps would be difficult at first. Awkward. Tiring. Eventually though, something interesting happened. A coordinated rhythm kicked in, seemingly automatically. Almost as if my body worked on its own. The hypnotising quality of hearing nothing but my own rhythmic breathing calmed me. I could focus intensely on this metronomic beat, like a mantra. Or let my mind wander, onto random thoughts, or the problems of the day. I’ve never meditated, but from hearing people talk about it, probably the closest I ever came was when engrossed in lap swimming.
Eventually in my late 30s, I stopped swimming due to shoulder trouble. A physical therapist explained that by not swimming any other stroke than the Australian Crawl, I’d caused a muscular imbalance. I should have mixed in backstroke and breaststroke, so that a variety of muscles were worked equally. So I did her exercises, and stopped the regular lap swimming. Replacing it with working out at the gym. Running on the treadmill had some similarities, but for me, nothing has quite replaced the mental clarity of lap swimming.
——————
Nowadays my body is an absolute mess of paralysed & palsied bits & pieces. My onboard gyroscope is busted, and I’m beset with twitching spasticity. Such that the synchronised elegance of swimming is beyond me. The coordination of even simple tasks takes extraordinary effort. Getting in and out of a bath is extremely awkward. Let alone entering a pool, and doing something so balletic as swimming. However, I do fantasise that someday I might head back to the pool for some physical therapy. Who knows, maybe even a spastic lap or two of Australian crawl..

Show, Don't Tell.
Summary: It's only been a few months since the DADT repeal and Iceman and Maverick are figuring out their next moves as a couple.
Warnings: Military homophobia, DADT
By the time Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is repealed, Maverick and Iceman have long since perfected their secret relationship. It’s so perfect that telling people seems more hard work, coming out seems just like more hard work. Besides the point Rear Admiral Kazansky simply knows too many people to do the whole coming out process, he’s quite frankly concerned about bringing Maverick to a formal event with his partner's knack for causing trouble.
But hiding it feels wrong as well. Since 1987 they’ve hidden and hidden and hidden. Hiding now feels like shitting on the doorstep of those who didn’t make it to the repeal. So they compromise. Maverick doesn’t want to change his name and with Ice’s profile it would be impractical. What they do is stick framed photos on their desks. Which doesn’t immediately look odd considering the giant portrait on the carrier after the Layton mission in the foyer at base.
Hondo catches sight of the photo frame on Maverick’s desk and gives the captain a raised eyebrow. Across the state Commander Simpson drops paperwork on Iceman’s desk. The framed photo of Iceman and Maverick is new. It’s not one of the official ones or traditional family photos that are common across personnel desks. This one is Iceman, blonde hair showing specks of grey as he tries to take a selfie like every middle aged man. Behind his shoulder is Maverick throwing a mock salute. They're on the beach. Simpson kicks himself out of his stupor before Kazansky can ask questions.
Ice and Maverick don’t come out but they start to show up.
There’s a gala, some formal event Ice definitely explained to Maverick who was definitely listening. Regardless, they’re suited and booted in their dress whites. Iceman was given the invite inclusive of a partner. Maverick isn’t invited to this event. It’s the first Navy event that they're going to as a couple, not officers. In the car Maverick scratches at his neck.
“What if they try to kick me out, that I’m here just because you are?” He asks with an unusual tone of nervousness. He’s not a nervous man, just a man who gets nervous.
Beside him, Ice shrugs. “If you walk in on my arm they might struggle to find the words.”
It makes Maverick grin.
And that’s what they do. Captain Pete Mitchell and Rear Admiral Kazanksy walk into the hired venue arm in arm. There’s no stunned silence of dropped champagne glasses. Slider, Maverick thanks his lucky stars, approaches them first with a grin like he knew the plan all along.
“Maverick, I don’t remember seeing you on the invite list,” he jests. By this stage Mav and Ice have untangled themselves.
He shrugs jovially, “and you still stink.”
It’s juvenile. It’s normal. It calms everyone's nerves.
No one actually asks questions until an unfamiliar man approaches them.
“Pete,” Ice introduces. “This is Rear Admiral Solomon Bates, Warlock.”
Maverick nods in recognition before extending his hand.
“Captain Mitchell,” Warlock assumes. “I didn’t know you’d be here.”
He’s not hostile, Maverick thinks. Not if Ice is still standing so close.
“I’m here with Tom,” he smiles.
Warlock smiles back, settling the raging nausea in Maverick’s stomach. The older man stands side by side with them and leans closer without taking his eyes off of the crowd.
“You know there’s a bet on the pair of you, right?”
It’s news to Maverick but judging by Ice’s embarrassed clearing of the throat he knows all about it.
“Sir?”
Warlock shrugs. “After the repeal everyone who’d been involved in some sort of speculation over the years made a bet on whether there’d be an official announcement.” He nods to Iceman. “Or a bold stunt.” This time he nods at Maverick.
“Oh a stunt?” Maverick feigns innocence. “I’d never do anything so brazen.”
You lost your qualifications as section leader three times, put in hack twice by me, with a history of high speed passes over five air control towers and one Admiral’s daughter!
What about a pass at a Rear Admiral, Maverick thinks looking at Iceman. That could turn heads.
“No,” says Ice without even looking at Maverick. “Don’t even think of doing anything.”
“I’m not,” Maverick says earnestly. He’s not outing anyone, especially not his partner. “I’m not.”
Ice looks at Warlock. “And which way did you bet?”
He shrugs. “I’m not telling you.”
They make polite conversation, drifting for forty minutes. No one asks why Maverick’s there, so he hopes the invite list wasn’t public. But things do come to a head shortly after the speeches.
“There was nothing wrong with the policy.”
Ice over hears it before Maverick does, it gives him time to distract the man who is far more likely to run his mouth. He flags down Slider and it doesn’t take much encouragement for the two to become engrossed in Maverick’s recent test flights. This allows Ice to listen in, perhaps getting the general consensus on the repeal, maybe even a word in of his own.
“Literally, it was don’t ask, don’t tell. You can still screw who you want just don’t come in shoving it in peoples face.”
Ice is about to shift his attention back to Maverick when the two men having the delightful conversation spot him.
“Kazansky,” one calls.
Jesus it’s Ben Corlas, he realises with disdain, and Henry Bishop.
“Tom,” Ben waves him over. He lowers his voice. “Anything changed your way with the repeal?”
Ice swallows.
“After the repeal everyone who’d been involved in some sort of speculation over the years made a bet on whether there’d be an official announcement. Or a bold stunt.”
“Yes it has,” he says slowly, perhaps a bit too loudly. Fuck. “It now means that every time I go to work, sit in my office, eat at the mess hall, everywhere I turn I can parade my partner around and shove it in everyone's faces.”
Ben and Alex’s faces blanche, they’ve been caught.
“You’d be familiar with that,” Ice continues. “I’d parade him around the same way you paraded your affair when you got caught with other women.”
Without another word Ice turns away. Ah, he’d been caught as well. Maverick’s jaw is slack and his eyes wide. Slider looks caught been murderous and seconds away from fits of laughter. As he rejoins them he shoots both men a glance.
“We still have to play civilised officers for another two hours, shut your mouths,” he hisses. All three of them return to their more dignified postures. Warlock exchanging money with one Rear Admiral Simpson does not fail to catch Iceman’s eye.
