Snakes & Butterflies | Part IV
Pairing: Jimin x Reader
Genre: Soulmate Au!, Fluff, Angst, Smut (Maybe, still debating)
Words: 2.7k
Warnings: minor swearing, seductive!Jin(I just had to)
Note: Hi guys! Here’s part 4! I really struggled with this chapter to be honest. I really want to paint this picture of this universe that I have in mind because it will be important on how it reflects upon Jimin and the MC’s relationship, but I don’t want that too bore you guys too much. But enough of that! Hear you go! Enjoy!
Reminder: * conversations in Korean *
Jimin
*
This can not be happening. This is what I was afraid of. This is why I avoided America all these years. Because of her. I could still feel her warmth on my fingers. I need to leave. Right now.
“Jimin,” Taehyung said a little out of breath. “What’s the matter? Jungkook said you would be happy to see her!”
“What?” I said whirling around to face him. “You knew this whole time?”
“Jungkookie said that it was gonna be a surprise!”
“Hyung,” Jungkook said with Namjoon right behind him. “I can explain.”
“There’s no need,” I said, not meeting his eyes. “I’m gonna have to leave.”
“What?!” Taehyung and Jungkook said, stepping towards me.
“Jimin,” Namjoon said with an incredulous tone. “You just got here, and you see this girl and now you want to leave?”
“Who wants to leave?” Yoongi said from behind, holding Hoseok’s hand. Hoseok’s smile faltered once he detected the atmosphere.
“What’s the matter Jimin-shi?” Hoseok asked with a pout.
“Hyung,” Jungkook said, clenching fists. “You can’t leave, you have to stop running away.”
“You don’t understand,” I said frustrated. None of them will understand, their marks are not broken like mine.
“Then help us understand,” Namjoon said. “We can’t help if you won’t talk to us.”
“Is this about your Grandpa?” Taehyung asked with watery eyes. My eyes widened in shock and I looked down to avoid all their stares. Could I trust them?
“Fine,” Jungkook said, his tone laced with hurt. My head shot up so quickly only to see his eyes full of disappointment. “We always lean on you and trust you but I guess we aren’t trustworthy.”
“I’m not ready to tell you,” I said squeezing my eyes. I wouldn’t be able to handle them leaving me.
Tell no one, not even Jungkook, it’s a disgrace to be involved with human filth. You will be shunned from the clan, plus she doesn’t even want you, it’s enough that you have to wear that scar for the rest of your life
“Well you ain’t leaving until you can,” Seokjin said appearing from the trail. “I have your passport and I won’t give it back.”
“In the meantime,” Namjoon said with authority as he grasped my shoulder.. “Try not to be mean to our host, we have to live with her for two months.”
Everyone except Jungkook started to walk towards the beach to enjoy the sunset, leaving Jungkook to stand there still with his fists clenched.
“I may not know much about what happened between you and Y/N,” He said with a sigh. “But she doesn’t seem to remember anything except that we were friends. So please-”
Jungkook's phone rings, cutting him off and he picks it up right away.
“Hello,” He says answering the phone in English, causing my eyebrows to raise. “You’re gonna order pizza? Um like 5 should be okay Noona... I left your car keys in your room...yea he’s okay... Oh okay, do you want me to go with- okay bye.”
“You have her phone number?” I asked with a scoff. “Don’t you think you’re too close to the hu-”
“Please don’t refer to her as ‘the human’,” Jungkook said with his face twisted with annoyance. “You sound like that old man, old and full of hate and you’re nothing like him. And yes to answer your question, I do have her number, because unlike you, I want to be her friend.”
“Jungkook, if the elders found out,” I warned. “You won’t be able to protect her.”
“So now you’re concerned for her safety?” Jungkook said with a laugh. “You weren’t concerned earlier when you just about dropped her.”
So he did see. Now wonder he was so defensive.
“Listen, Jung-”
“No hyung, please listen,” Jungkook interjected, as he took a step closer. “Y/N was my only friend here when we lived here, besides you. I know I was like seven and that’s why I don’t remember much, which is frustrating but I do remember this: she loved us. We were only kids, we were so innocent, but I know everything changed when that old man came.”
“He’s our grandfather Jungkook,” I said rolling my eyes.
“And he’s a man from the past, stuck in his old ways.” Jungkook said, shrugging. “What I’m trying to say is that I know Y/N would have never hurt you on purpose. So please, you don’t have to be her friend but please don’t mistreat her.”
“Okay,” I said tiredly. “I won’t, under one condition.”
“Anything!” Jungkook said with enthusiasm.
“I suspect that you know more about what happened between me and Y/N,” I said, not meeting his eyes. “Can you promise you won’t tell anyone else?”
“Hyung,” Jungkook said with a mischievous grin, grasping my shoulder. “You do realize they already have their suspicions right?”
“What?” I said in surprise. “How?”
“You’re kind of dramatic hyung,” He said while running away towards the beach.
“Yah! I’m older than you! I was born first!” I yelled chasing him. “I’m your hyung, respect me!”
For the time being, everything was normal. Playing and swimming in the ocean, we were so caught up in our own lives before, that we didn’t realize we really missed each other.
*
As I headed to the kitchen to get to my room, another man was in the kitchen already rummaging through the fridge. He was also really beautiful, he had wide shoulders and pink plump lips. Lips that turned up when he made eye contact with me, only for them to turn downwards when he saw me wiping my tears.
“Are you okay?” He said with a thick accent.
“Yes,” I said, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Just feeling a bit tired from work. Nice to meet you. I'm Y/N, I’m your host throughout your stay.” And I gave him my hand to shake. He took my hand and brought it up to his lips, all the while maintaining eye contact with me. My heart skipped a beat and for sure my face was as red as a tomato.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N” he said patting my hand with a light laugh. “My name is Kim Seokjin. You can call me Jin for short.”
“Nice to meet you Seokjin-I mean Jin.” I said in somewhat of a daze.
“I take it you ran into Jimin,” He said, still holding my hand and rubbing my knuckles. “Jungkook mentioned you were childhood friends?”
“Yes we were,” I answered, entranced by his ministrations.
“I wonder why he never mentioned how gorgeous you are,” Jin said with a tone that I would define as seductive and with a wink he finally released my hand, leaving me in somewhat of a shocked state. He laughed at my expression and regarding me with a flirtatious smile. “Still feeling tired?”
“I-I,” I struggled to find the words. “I’m fine thank you.”
“You are very welcome, miss Y/N.” He said with a satisfied smile. I needed to leave before this beautiful man killed me by just his smile alone.
“Don’t worry about dinner,” I said, trying so hard not to stutter again. “I’ll take care of it for today, you must be tired from your flight. So you can join the others if you like?”
“Thanks cutie,” and with another wink, Jin headed out, leaving me to catch my breath. Oh my god. Nothing is more dangerous than a beautiful man that knows he is beautiful. Shaking my head from the impure thoughts I headed straight to my room to use my private bathroom to take a quick shower.
I quickly stripped and gasped. Shit. What am I gonna make, it’s already past dinner time. Should I just order pizza? How many pizzas would be okay for seven men? Jungkook would surely know. I dumped all the contents of my purse onto my bed to find my phone to call Jungkook.
“Pick up, pick up” I said impatiently looking at the clock. My favorite pizza place was gonna close soon.
“Hello?” Jungkook answered.
“Hey,” I said, balancing my phone on my shoulder as I struggled to turn the knob to the hot water. “I’m gonna order pizza, how many should I get?.. Uh huh... Okay five perfect. Wait where are my car keys, I’m gonna have to go pick them up, they're closing soon... Okay. Hey um is Jimin okay?.. Okay, no I’m okay thanks bye.”
I felt my blood rush to my face remembering how embarrassing it was to fall flat on my butt in front of Jimin, he must think I’m a loser. Which he’s not wrong, but still his behavior hurt. One step at a time. I quickly called the pizza place and profusely apologized and ordered 5 pizzas to go and that I’ll be there in ten minutes. A hurricane passed through my bathroom and next in my bedroom as I quickly got ready to go pick up the pizzas.
I must have ran a couple of red lights to make it on time. By the time I arrived out of breath, the girl at the register seemed to feel sorry for me and went to the back to retrieve my order. A pizza delivery guy came in right behind me, most likely to clock out for the night.
“Pardon me,” the pizza guy said, with a suggestive tone. “But you got a hot date tonight or something?”
“Date?” I said confused and I followed his gaze down to my outfit. In my haste, I must have put on an outfit that Jennie bought for me, which meant it was very revealing, well at least to me. It was a white tube top with frilly spaghetti straps and a pair of high-waist jeans. Sometimes I’m such a dumb ass, so I might as well be a bitch too. “Pardon me, but did your mother perhaps drop you when you were a baby?”
“W-What?” He stuttered and the girl came back with my order staring at us with wide eyes.
“How much do I owe you?” I asked the girl with a smile, already getting ready to hand her the Airbnb credit card.
“It’s 60$, ma’am,” she said. “Would you like a receipt?”
“Yes, please.” I said reaching for the pizza. “Thank you, have a nice rest of your day.”
“Learn how to take a compliment lady,” the pizza guy muttered. “I feel bad for whoever your Soulmate is.”
“Funny I was about to say the same thing,” I said, flipping him the middle finger and leaving with my order. “Fucking prick.”
Once I placed the pizza in the backseat of my Jeep, I saw a black sweatshirt. Jungkook won’t mind if I wear it, if anything he probably would have a fit if he saw my outfit. The sweater barely went past my butt, which was surprising since Jungkook seemed taller. Shrugging I started the drive home, this time not breaking any laws.
Once I arrived, Namjoon and another man were emerging from the trail. I was surprised that they were still at the beach since the sun had set already but it was a full moon tonight, so it wasn’t entirely dark. Once Namjoon noticed me, he waved and jogged towards my car, with the other in tow.
“Need help?” He said with a dimple smile. The other waved at me. Namjoon then took the 5 pizzas from me, leaving me with the other man.
“Hi!” he said in excitement as he inclined his head. “I’m Hoseok! You must be Y/N!”
“That’s me!” I said matching his enthusiasm. Oh my god he is like a ball of literal sunshine. And his energy was contagious. “Let’s get this pizza party started!” He laughed and gestured for me to go ahead and I missed the way his gaze lingered on the sweater I was wearing and how he smirked.
That was six guys so far, awesome one more to meet. I headed inside and the first thing I heard was laughter and bickering. I felt a smile spread on my face as Jungkook ran to me with a laughing Taehyung chasing him.
“Noona!” Jungkook said attempting to hide behind me even though he was a whole 3 feet taller than me. “He’s trying to tickle me to death!”
Taehyung froze when he saw me and his eyebrows rose in surprise and he pointed at me in question.
Jungkook
*
“Jungkook,” Taehyung said in a shaky voice. “That sweater is not whose I think it is, is it?”
*
My eyes widened when I looked down and saw the sweater Noona was wearing. Oh no. Y/N tilted her head in confusion and realized he must have been talking about the sweater.
“Oh!” she said. “I hope you don’t mind Kookie. I found this sweater in the car and put it on because of some asshole. I hope it’s okay?”
I nodded my head, momentarily unable to speak. God how do I get her to take off that sweater before Jim- oh god he’s coming down the stairs! I wildly gestured to Taehyung to distract him and I twirled her around.
“Jungkook wha- oh my god stop that tickles!” She laughed and attempted to wiggle away from me as I managed to lift the sweater midway up her stomach. Oh my god. I quickly pulled it back down, almost knocking her down. I felt a blush rush up my neck. Her shirt… “I swear you have a death wish Jungkook.”
She went into the kitchen, where Jimin's eyes widened in surprise. Before he could say anything, a booming laugh exploded in the air, making us all jump.
“That sweater..” Yoongi hyung said laughing as he smirked at Jimin. “Almost fits you perfectly, Y/N.”
“I know right? I expected it to be longer since Kookie is so tall.” She said, causing almost everyone, except Jimin, to laugh. “Did I miss something?”
“No,” Yoongi said, still laughing . “I’m sorry, I’m Min Yoongi. Thanks so much for buying pizza.”
“Nice to meet you,” she smiled, making Yoongi’s laughter falter. “And don’t worry, I had to welcome you guys as your host!”
“You have such a beautiful smile Y/N-shi,” Hoseok said hooking his arm around Yoongi’s shoulder. Her smile widened even more causing her eyes to close into crescents. He glanced at Jimin, who was strangely quiet. “Such a familiar smile.”
“Thanks,” she said giggling. “That’s a lot coming from you, you’re like sunshine.”
“Why does everyone say that?” Hoseok said in confusion.
“Cause you are sunshine Hobi,” Yoongi said, hugging him. “My sunshine.”
“And you’re my moonshine,” Hoseok hyung said, causing me to glance quickly to gauge her reaction. Her eyes went wide in surprise.
“Are you guys Soulmates?” she said pleasantly surprised. But all the hyungs visibly tensed awaiting her next question. Hoseok seemingly did not realize the tension in the room, and he nodded his head to her answer. “Awesome! How long have you guys been together?”
Everyone visibly relaxed that she didn’t ask to see their Marks, but of course Noona wouldn’t ask, if she wasn’t willing to show her own Mark, in fear of rejection, she would never ask to see someone else’s Mark. She knew the pain that question caused, in fact she may be the only human to understand that.
We all ate pizza, Jimin more quiet than usual but at least he wasn’t running away. And the feeling of peace overcame my entire being. When Jimin and I moved to South Korea we felt so alone. We had met the rest of the hyungs during one of the clan meetings that were held every three years. That was two years after we moved. I remember feeling this peace back then too, but there felt like something was missing.
“Kookie,” Noona said, waving her hand in front of my face to get my attention. “I asked you a question...are you feeling okay? Why aren’t you eating?” Instead of answering, I hugged her and I tucked my face into her neck. “Jungkook?”
“I’m home,” I whispered in Korean. “It finally feels like home.”
She shivered and all of a sudden she was ripped from my arms. Jimin had a fist full of his own sweater, as he maneuvered her out of my embrace. She squealed in shock as the sweater exposed her skin to the air conditioned room. Jimin was looking at me like he wanted to kill me.
I’m a dead man.

“Get up it’s almost noon!” Mona belts, opening the curtains of the loft letting the bright sunlight hit Emma’s face.
“No! Leave me alone.. I want to wallow in sorrow from the comforts of my bed.” Emma whined, covering her face with a pillow. It was the day after Logan told her they should go on a break. Code for we should break up.
“God, this is the most depressing thing I’ve ever seen.. And I’ve been to prison.” Mona mumbles and plops herself on the bed next to Emma. “Look, technically you’re on a break which could be good thing.”
Emma turns on her side to face Mona. “How can this be a good thing?”
“Because now you actually have some space and time to think about what you actually want.” She grinned, Emma just stares at her with a blank expression, making Mona roll her eyes. “Look ever since Colt showed up you’ve been caught between your feelings for him and Logan.” Emma is about to say something but Mona raises her hand and shushes her. “Before you deny anything please remember who you’re talking to.”
“Does it even matter now? Colt’s spending the whole week with some pretty girl who is so into him and he’s probably into her too. He even took her to our favorite ice cream parlor!”
Mona snorts. "Didn't take you for a quitter?"
“I’m not a quitter.” She protests then gets out of bed, pacing back and forth on the hardwood floors making a creek sound. “It’s just.. I don’t know where Colt stands in regards to what his feelings are for me. I mean one night he tells me how bad he wants to kiss and the next night he acts like he couldn’t care less.”
An alarm on Emma’s phone goes off and she heads to the nightstand to check the notifications. Shit I totally forgot about this. A few months ago Emma’s favorite cousin called her up and told her she was getting married during the summer in San Francisco, when she asked about the RSVP Emma told her that she would be going with a plus one. The plan was that Logan and her were going to drive together Friday morning in time for the rehearsal dinner but that was before they broke up.
“Em? Is everything alright?” Mona quirks an eyebrow.
Emma snaps out of her thoughts. “Yea, Totally. So, Mona any chance you want to attend a wedding in San Francisco this weekend with me?”
Mona snorts out a laugh. “No thanks I have other plans, you’re not the only one with a love life you know.”
“I didn’t know you had a girlfriend?”
“I don’t but that doesn’t mean I don’t go on dates. Also if you’re thinking about dragging Ximena or Toby along you won’t have any luck there either.”
Emma heaves out a frustrated sigh and plops herself back on the bed. “So now I need to drive 5 hours alone and attend a wedding alone like some loser.”
“You know there is someone else you could ask who would go with you.” Mona gives Emma a knowing look. “You know someone handsome with dark hair, likes to brood by himself, drives a really cool white sport bike.”
Emma scoffs. “Yeah.. Except you forgot that someone happens to be occupied the whole week with some petite brunette named Jean.”
“Haha… You know you’re cute when your jealous? But I think that Colt would turn down a date with 100 pretty brunette’s named Jean just so he could be with you.” Mona gives a sincere smile which rarely happens. “I need to head out for a job. Just do me a favour, take a shower before you start to reek."
"Fine!" She answers, throwing her hand up in the air before heanding for the bathroom.
Half an hour later…
After a long cold shower, Emma walks out from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body and her damp hair when she hears a soft knock on the door. I thought Mona left already? She opens the door and to her surprise, sees Colt standing on the other side. "Can I come in?" He asked with a serious expression on his face.
She gives him a skeptical look before eventually nodding and motions for him to enter the room.
"What do you want?" She said in a flat tone with her arms crossed.
His eyes wandered from her face down her chest then back to her face again. "I uh.. Your car’s park in the garage but didn't see you all day, thought maybe I’d check up on you. I wanted to see if you were okay?”
Emma scoffs. "Suddenly you care so much?"
"Why wouldn't I? I'll always care about you Emma, you know that right? If something is bothering you, you can always talk to me." He replies and she could see how sincere he was. Great now I feel bad for being a jerk. "I had some stuff going on, I wasn't really in the mood to do anything this morning."
"Is there anything I can do to cheer you up?" A sudden loud growling sound comes out Emma’s direction. Her face turns pink, she wraps her arms around her stomach. “Have you eaten anything since this morning?”
“Obviously not.”
“Get dressed, we’re going out to grab something to eat. I’m driving.” He smiles and whirls on his heels towards the door, stopping at the threshold, looking over his shoulder. “Wear something appropriate, no dresses or skirts.”
A little while later…
Emma heads down to the garage to meet Colt, she sees him leaning against his motorcycle arms folded. A grin appears on his face as he watches her saunter over. “Took you long enough.”
“Yeah well, you don’t get to look like this without putting in any effort.”
Colt rolls his eyes. “Here, this is for you.” He says and hands her a black coloured helmet, she raises her eyebrow at him. “What’s this for? Aren’t we taking a car?”
Colt scoff. “At this hour? You know how bad the traffic is in LA right?” Emma bites her lower lip, she’d hate to admit it but she’s never ridden on a motorcycle before. “You haven’t ridden one of these before have you?” Emma shakes her head as a reply that she’s never rode a motorcycle.
Colt snorts out a laugh. “Emma.. Emma… Emma.. you’re really missing out. So what do you say?” He gestures at the helmet on his hand giving her a challenging look. “Or are you too chicken?”
Did he just call me a chicken? “Alright fine!” She forcefully grabs the helmet out from Colts hand. “And don’t think for one second that you’re slowling down on this thing. I want full speed or no speed at all.”
“Yes ma’am” he gives an exaggerated salute before hopping on to his bike, Emma sitting behind him. Colt starts revving the throttle of his bike while waiting for the garage door to open. “Hold on tight sweetheart, we’re going on one hell of a ride.”
****************************************
A little while later after maneuvering through the bustling city traffic of LA, the two finally reach a familiar spot.
Emma hopped off the bike and opens up her helmet, slowly taking in the sight. A low shrug escaped her and Colt notices. “What not fancy enough for you?”
“No it’s not that, it’s just that I haven’t been here in like almost forever.”
“Well same here, I hope their hotdogs are still as good though. Common all that riding around worked up an appetite.” The two stopped at a nearby food cart and Colt orders a couple of hotdogs after that they continue walking towards the pier. They lean against the wooden rail and enjoy every bite of their food while silently taking in the view of the ocean.
“So.. where’s Jean?” She tries not to grimace as she said the name. “Aren’t you like supposed to be her personal tour guide around LA or something?”
Colt thought back to the night before after the movies and during his time with Jean at the ice cream shop.
“Omg.. This is literally the best handmade ice cream I’ve tasted so far!” Jean beams as she takes another scoop and stuffed it in her mouth. Colt chuckled. “What did I tell ya, Barry beats any big ice cream franchise by a 100 miles. I used to come here a lot with Emma when we were kids.”
Jean gave Colt knowing look when he mentions her name and clears her throat “So how long have you been in love with her?”
Colt slightly chokes on his ice cream. “What do you mean how long have I been in love with her? I’m not in love with..” Colt it’s fine, I saw the way you looked at her when we were at the movies and the way your face lights up everytime you say her name. Which by the way is a very rare thing to happen for Colt Kaneko.” She grinned and it made Colt slightly blush. “So what’s the scoop? Pun intended.”
Colt snort then heaves a sigh, running his hand through his hair. “You want the whole story?” She nodded excitedly. “Alright where do I begin.” Colt told Jean everything from how they were when they were kids to their first kiss and when they broke up. “Did the two of you ever talk about it? The whole time you were here?”
“Why should we it’s in the past we’ve both moved on, she dating Logan.” He grimaced as he mentioned the name. “Does she know you still have feelings for her?.”
“Like I said she has a boyfriend. I go back to MIT in Boston after the summer ends, what’s the point?”
“So you should still tell her how you feel. What she decides after that is up to her but she at least deserves to know the truth. It’s okay to make yourself feel vulnerable sometimes Colt, when it’s with the right person.”
Colt let her words sink in for a moment. “I’ll think about it but no promises.”
“That’s good enough for me.” She chuckled. “Hey so about this week you don’t have to like be my tour guide or anything. I actually made plans with someone else.”
“Ouch!” He exaggeratedly pressed his hands to his chest. “Did I just get ditched? You hurt me Jean, you know that?”
Jean chuckled. “I’m sure you’ll survive.”
“She had other plans. We’re cool.” He answers and take one last bite of his hotdog. “I’d better get you back to the garage before pretty boy finds you missing and gets all worried.”
Emma shrugs. “I don’t think there is anything to worry about.” Colt gives her a questioning look. “Is everything okay?”
“We sort of broke up, last night. It was sort of my fault. I don’t really want to talk about it.” Only because it involved you.
Colt rubbed the back of his head. “Well good riddance.”
“Colt!”
“What? I’m just saying Em, you’re too good for him. You deserve better. I know I’ve said this before and I’ll keep saying it again.” He said with a sincere look on his face. “You deserve to be with someone who can give you a family and that house in the suburbs with the white picket fence. Just like you always wanted when we were kids.”
He remembered? “Colt, that’s not who I am anymore.” She replies but her expression was unconvincing. Of course that was what she still wanted, the garage was only a temporary arrangement for her to pay for her college expenses. But she never really talked to Logan about what comes after she’s done with college, does he plan on being a car thief for the rest of his life? “How do you even remember all of that? It’s been years.”
“I remember everything about you Emma Park. You’re not really an easy person to forget.” He smiled at her and it felt warm and genuine. “Okay Mr. Flatterer, what's going on with you today?”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s.. It’s nothing just forget about it.” She waves him off and takes one last bite of her hotdog. Maybe since he is in such a good mood, this might be the right time to ask him. “So uh.. I need a small favor from you.” He raised an eyebrow at her giving a curious look. “There’s this thing coming up this weekend. You know my cousin Amanda?”
“The one who used to babysit us when we were kids?”
“Yup the very same, well she’s getting married this weekend and I RSVP six months ago that I would be going with a plus one but then the whole thing with Logan happened so now I don’t have a plus one and that sucks because…”
“Sure I’ll go as your plus one.” He answers before she could finish her whole speech. “But I didn’t even finish talking yet.”
“Well wasn’t that what you’re going to ask me?” He raised his eyebrows and she nodded. “So you’ll do it? Just like that?”
“Sure, as long as you promise to introduce me to all the pretty hot bridesmaid that will be attending.” He grinned and Emma rolled her eyes. “Do we have a deal?”
Emma thought for a moment does she really want to see other girls fond over Colt during their time there? “It’s a deal.”

What Would They Say Pt 5
Pairing: mob!Tom x Reader
Summary: The reader is a bartender at a bar owned by Tom Holland - the leader of the most feared mob in London. Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four
Requested: No
“You look nervous,”
“I am nervous,” I admit. My finger is tapping against the side of the coffee mug in my hand, my eyes rake over Tom’s appearance. He’s sat back, coffee held in one hand, relaxed as he looks at me.
“Why are you nervous?” Tom questions, his characteristic smirk still in place as his eyes follow my every movement.
“Because you’re you,” I say, looking down as I feel my cheeks flush red in embarrassment.
“I’m glad you’re aware that I’m me,” Tom comments, taking a slow drink from his mug of coffee as he watches me. “You look nice today, I don’t think I ever said,” Tom says and, for the first time today, I can hear a hint of uncertainty in his voice. I grin at him.
“I’m just wearing my work clothes, Tom,”
“You always look nice, Princess,” I bite my lip to stop myself from smiling too wide at the new pet name. “Where are you from originally, Princess?” He asks, clearly catching on to my liking of the name, a softer smile than before playing at the corners of his lips. I feel myself relax a little under his warm gaze.
“The countryside, just outside of Oxford, the middle of nowhere to be honest,” I tell him, smiling a little at the fond memories of my childhood. “What about you?”
“London, born and bred. I mean, being a leader of a mob does tend to be a family business,” Tom says, an easy smile on his face, but one that still makes me understand that the topic of his childhood is closed. “Where did you go to school?”
“A private one in Oxford. I got in on scholarship in year 7 and stayed all the way through to the end of sixth form,”
“So that’s where you met your friends?” He asks, cocking his head in interest. I nod a little shyly.
“Yeah, I met the four of them at school, I have other friends from uni but I’m closer to my home friends,”
“I’ve known Harrison my whole life,” Tom says after a moment of silence. He’s looking away from me, a small frown on his face. “He knows everything about me,” he says and I don’t reply, sensing that he’s forgotten my presence with him at the table. “He was with me when I found out what my dad did. We were told not to tell my brothers,” he seems to snap back to reality then, looking at me, his eyes blinking quickly. He recovers soon after, the smirk returning to his face.
“Do you have any siblings?”
“Yeah, an older sister and a younger brother,”
“Middle child,” he comments and I smile, nodding. “I’m the oldest of four, all boys,”
“Your poor mum,” I laugh and he grins back.
“She always tells us she can’t wait for one of us to get a girlfriend so she has a girl to talk to,” I laugh at that.
“Before my brother was born, Mum used to complain about having no boys and Dad used to tell her that I was a pretty good replacement, seeing as though all of my friends growing up were males,” those were the days before Dad got sick. I add the detail in in my brain, not feeling the need to talk to Tom about it. If he could have secrets and topics to side-step away from, so could I.
“I can’t imagine you being very girly growing up,” Tom admits and I sigh, shaking my head.
“I played football a lot. I stopped in my GCSE year of school, though,”
“How come?” Tom questions before draining his cup of coffee. I do the same and he holds his hand out to me, pulling me up from the seat.
“Just... ran out of time,” I settle on. Tom frowns, clearly realising that it wasn’t the whole reason and obviously wanting to push until I tell him the truth.
“What time are you working tonight?” Tom asks, frown still set in place.
“Six until one,”
“I’ll drop you at the bar, but I’ve got some work to do so I can’t hang around,” just like that, Tom is back to business, just as he was the first night I met him. The only difference this time, is the feeling of his hand locked with mine.
I’m taken aback by just how fancy the car is. The driver has gotten out and opened the door for me, but I can only stand there in shock.
“I’m so sorry, is this for me?” I question, certain that I can’t be the one who this car is waiting on.
“Miss Y/L/N?” The driver asks and I give a slow nod of confirmation, taking a step forwards. I climb into the car as gracefully as I can manage and the driver shuts the door behind me. “It’s a rather long trip, ma’am, what with the London traffic,” I’m told as the driver gets into the drivers seat and starts the car running again.
If I thought the car was fancy, there were no words to describe Tom’s house as we pull into the driveway. The gravel crunches under the wheels and I stare out of the windows, my mouth hanging a little open as I stare up at the house.
It’s the kind of house kids from my old school were jealous of, the kind that millionaires and celebrities lived in.
I guess that’s what Tom was, a millionaire. Though in the least legal way possible.
“You left your phone?” The driver asks and I give a nod, taking his hand and allowing him to assist me as I clambered out of the car.
“Yes, it’s at my flat,” I confirm and the driver nods. The front door opens and Harrison is revealed, grinning at me and bounding down the stairs to greet me with a hug.
In the two months in which Tom and I had been dating, Harrison and I had become good friends, much to the delight of my mobster boyfriend.
“Dude, this place is so fucking fancy,” I mutter to him and Harrison howls with laughter, his arm still over my shoulder as he gently guides me up the front steps.
“Well you’re certainly looking the part, Y/N,” Harrison assures me.
When Tom had invited me around to his home for dinner with his family, he had warned me that I should dress a little fancier than I normally did. Instead of my normal jeans and hoodie get up, I was wearing a black skirt and a blouse that I used to wear for job interviews. My hair was up in a bun, with a couple of strands hanging loosely around my face.
“I’m so scared,” I admit to Harrison who uses his free hand to poke me in the stomach.
“You’ll be fine. Tom’s family are lovely,”
“You grew up with him, Haz! You have to say that!” I hiss and Harrison just laughs again.
“I’ll be there with you, Y/N, you’ll be fine,”
“Dude, I can barely order food in a restaurant, how am I meant to hold an actual, real-life conversation?” I question and Harrison’s chuckles only increase at my words, his head thrown back in amusement. “You’re a dick for laughing at my inner turmoil,” I comment, but there’s a smile playing at the corners of my lips. “You’re going to hell for laughing at my pain, you know?” I add, feeling the corners of my eyes creasing as I try to hide my laughter.
“You’re brilliant, you know that?” Harrison asks, holding the front door open for me.
“I’m fabulous, man,” I agree, walking through.
“Tom’s just looking after some business and I think everyone else is still getting ready.” Harrison informs me, getting over his laughter.
There’s a bark that echoes down the hallway and I gasp at the adorable little dog that bounds it’s way down towards Harrison and I. I drop down to my knees, holding my hand out to the puppy and allowing them to sniff it before stroking their soft head.
“That’s Tessa, Tom’s dog,” Harrison says. Tessa wags her tail in response to her name, nuzzling into my hand. I giggle and stroke down her back, a huge grin on my face.
“She doesn’t normally take to people so quickly,” I look up and grin at Tom. He smiles back widely. “Hello, Princess,” I stand up and walk over to him, wrapping my arms around him in a hug. He gently hugs me back, placing a kiss to the top of my head. Tessa barks again, nudging my leg with her head and I giggle, parting from Tom to crouch on the floor next to the dog again. Tom joins me a few seconds later.
“You never told me you had a dog,” I say, pouting at Tom who smiles even wider.
“You look adorable like that,” he says, leaning over Tessa to plant a kiss on my lips. I blush and look down at the dog again. Tessa is clearly loving the attention, panting heavily, her tail wagging like crazy. It’s not until Tom reaches his hand out to stroke her that I notice anything different.
“What happened to your hand!” I ask, grabbing it, inspecting the bloodied knuckles.
“I had some business, Princess,” he says, bringing my hand up to his lips and pressing a quick kiss to my knuckles but I’m still frowning at his bruised ones.
“You should get them wrapped,” I say, looking at him. Tom smiles and shakes his head.
“I’ll go clean them, Princess, no need for worry, it’s nothing out of the ordinary,” he says but I shake my head, holding his hand a little more firmly and dragging him up. I try to lead him towards the kitchen and he laughs, realising that I have no idea where I’m going.
“Where’s the kitchen?” I whine, finding myself in a lounge. Tom smiles at me adoringly, gently pulling me through to a tiled white room.
Tom leans against the counter as I run a wad of kitchen roll under cold water. I walk back to him, gently washing the cuts on his knuckles. I can feel Tom’s gaze on my face the whole time I’m wiping the blood away and when I finish, he pulls me closer, kissing me softly, for once there isn’t a smirk set on his face as he looks at me with adoration completely clouding his features.
I kiss him back slowly, placing the bloody kitchen roll on the counter and moving my hands up to his hair, carding my hands through the fluffy curls. I’m stood between his legs, his arms wrapped tight around me, one on my waist and one on the small of my back, gently pulling me closer as he continues to kiss me.
“Sorry to interrupt,” another voice says. I break away from Tom quickly, embarrassed at being caught but Tom just rolls his eyes at whoever’s stood in the doorway, not letting me move away, keeping me trapped against his chest with his arms.
“Piss off, Harry,” Tom says, placing a kiss on my temple and I’m glad that his brother can’t see my face yet, as I’m aware I’m so red that I probably look as though I’m going to explode at any moment.
“Dinner’s set out, Tom,” Harry chuckles and I hear his retreating footsteps. I remove my face from Tom’s chest and my boyfriend grins at me.
“Come on, Princess, lets not keep my family waiting,” he says, pecking my lips once more before walking me to the dining room.
