Kitty smiled softly following Alastor to the quaint little kitchen. “This will be wonderful. I must say, thank you so much for your hospitality”

Heading to the fridge she began to check what was available. Chicken, beef, sausage, some various vegetables. A plan formulated in her mind.

She selected the chicken thighs, sausage, bell pepper, butter and garlic. Setting them out she went to the pantry and pulled together an onion, rice and various spices.

She set to work expertly slicing the chicken from the bone, and trimming up fat. She wasn’t going to toss that good fat though. Putting a pan on she tossed the fat with butter, garlic, herbs and spices, making a fatty compound. When it was together enough she tossed in flour, and a bit of chicken broth letting a thick roux form.

Gumbo was on menu tonight. It had been far too long. While the roux set to browning, she pulled together some things to make corn bread, she always sweetened with honey, then added depth with garlic and spices. The little fox moved about the kitchen almost like it was a dance. Humming softly to her self tail swaying mindlessly.

She kept a calm and confident demeanor, “to be honest, I’m looking for fame. I’ve been performing about town and have been making a little name for myself. However I want more, as one does. I’d be happy to work my way to the top to be on one of your programs. I know nothing good comes to those who won’t put in the work, as they say.”

#25 Summation, reflections and plans for 2024

Now that the calendar is over I want to wrap things up with some thoughts and facts about of what have been and what is coming.

The calendar

In this calendar I've written about 24 series that have meant something to me through my life. There are other series I might actually like more than some of them today, but they've all changed how I see things or how I feel about a certain subject. I started of with M*A*S*H, which will always be my all time favourite and which came into my life early. I ended with Julie and the Phantoms, which just recently came into my life and about which I still have a lot to learn. Some posts almost wrote themselves, while others needed some rewatches and reminiscing.

I stream A LOT of media, and mostly series, some weeks up to 40 hours. This because I usually have something on in the background, it makes me focus even better. I work from home about half the time and the TV is always on, on these days. But it's normaly rewatches and comfort series and I have a hard time starting new ones. So, to help with this, my goal for 2024 is to complete a list of series I want to watch, but haven't dealt with yet. I might not complete them all if I don't like them, but the goal is to start them all.

Her tail swished in annoyance. Of course she’d be leered at by people. The little beast tended to be more modest most of the time, but when one was at the beach. Well, there was nothing much to be done about that. Kitty let out a sigh as she sidled up the bar. A familiar red hue of locks caught her eye.

Her demeanor flipped a one eighty at the sight of, Alastor. Tail picked up tempo, wagging happily. “Hey!” She chirped excitedly. Leaning against the bar she ordered a rum runner. Extra rum. Something to soothe the frayed nerves she had, before she got, violent.

Clambering into the seat next to him, she offered a large fanged smile. “It’s a nice sunny day, hm? Have you been in the water yet?” She asked her ears perked and pressed towards him, always enjoying hearing him talk. There was nothing better than that fresh smell of salt on the air, it reminded her so much of Louisiana, and the days she spent along the shore.

Alastor is not immune to the draw of a good drink - and with plenty to go around, he's taken a moment to sidle up to the bar to get himself something with just a hint of citrus. Strong, though not too much to prevent himself from being too scatter-brained to appropriately keep an eye on the goings on. But he will consider this detour a bit of a break, nursing the little orange-tinted drink in hand as the nearby radio cranks out the popular (at least for the decade following his death) Rum and Coca Cola by the Andrews Sisters.

It's a jaunty little island tune, and Alastor finds himself enjoying the crackle of the speakers which appeal so nicely to his ears. Though his quiet break time is interrupted by the sound of another in his immediate vicinity, a lazy turn in his seat the only means of addressing the newcomer.

If ever there is an opportunity to have a conversation with him that is not steeped in a layer of security-minded paranoia, this is it.

Beasts of Burden

It was another usual day. Kitty slogged down with paper work. She was curled up in the office on a plush chair flipping through documents. Her feet tucked under heeled, tail wagging content. It had been awhile since their explosive conversation.

Things had been much better. She was open and honest about things, not reserving her thoughts. It seemed to be a lot healthier on her mental state too. She was even more productive, and happy not having to hold herself back.

Humming softly to herself she glanced up at the time. It was getting late. She needed to go to the grocery to make them dinner for the night. She neatly stacked the papers away. Alastor was still at work. Always working.

“I’m stepping out for a grocery run, I’ll be back and I’ll start supper.” She said as she stacked the papers on his desk, into their proper piles. The little fox closed the door behind her and went on her way.

It was a rather uneventful trip. She was making her way back home when she heard the TVs loudly playing in a store window. They were not allowed a tv for reasons. Well because of Vox. She stopped her ears flicking curiously. Then heard the distinct sound of a camera rotating. She glanced over noticing it pointed at her.

Of corse he’d look at her. He knew how close to the vest she was to Alastor. The fox narrowed her eyes at the camera a moment, a warning of I see you too. Then turned her attention back to the TVs. There was an ad for some new casino over in the pleasure district.

Her tail wagged lightly. Then she saw it. Him rather. A sinner that looked similar to her ex-husband, but he had boar traits. She almost dropped the groceries. Her heart stopped, blood running to ice. A look of fear on her face. She backed away from the screens and took off as fast as her little feet would carry her.

She came back into the radio tower in a frenzy of a panic. “I found him!” She blurted bursting into the radio office, “I found my ex husband! He…he was on tv on an ad for the new Vox Tek casino. I saw him.” She looked panicked as she looked at Alastor. They had been looking for a long time to bring up his end of the contract.

"y/n is one of the ghosts that live here although she tends to stay in the attic, "Julian said pushing the chest piece to its place on the board, "she is a bright young lady that was taken from the world too soon," fanny said from where she was sitting.

it was weird for the Lady to be so open about something normally she would complain about how things were back in her time.

a flash of mint green caught Alison's eyes as a young girl no older than 17 walked over to the captain to enrol in a quiet conversation "it's nice to see you again miss y/n" pat smiled making you turn to look at the short man "you two Mr pat" she nodded her head to the man the curls of her [h/c} hair not moving.

y/ns eyes wanderd over to two new pepole she hadn't see before "hello" Alison said to the young teen Alison guess she was from around the same time period as Thomas was "hello I don't believe we have met I'm y/n "y/n cursed to she respect to Alison as her husband just looked confused "what's going on"mike asked.

"There's a new ghost y/n " another one " this made the young girl laugh something the ghost hadn't heard in a long time," they made her laugh"Humphry smiled from where he was now sitting well where his head was sitting his body was elsewhere.

soon y/n had left to go back up to the attic not before saying a polite goodbye to the ghost as well as Alison and mike though he couldn't see or hear it.

"That's her tilss nexts year"marry smiled sadly from the caught "till next year?" Alison questions "she only comes to own on her death day" Julian explained "what are you smiling about, "fanny asked the captain "it is something miss y/n told me" this made the group wait for the captain to finish what he was saying "she wants to join us for book club as she has finished the ones she had" Alison had never seen the ghost light up that quickly.

soon she noticed you appearing a lot more first it was just for book club but soon you had joined their day-to-day life, each ghost treaded you as if you were their own a sit that makes Alison Harte burst with joy each time she sees it.

Puss in boots AU idea

ok, so here is the idea.

what if puss HAD gone to Sanata Caloma and Kitty was there, and they got married. Then the chapel get attacked (by this point puss only has one life) and Puss gets killed and stays dead. Kitty is hart broken, she gets depressed and rentiers (where she meets Perito) Until she hears about the wishing star and wants to use it to bring Puss back. Death hears about this and wants to stop her from reviving him. Kitty does not care what Death wants. (Death will only leave her alone once she comes to terms and accept Puss's death) in the crystal cave seen instead of Puss's past lives talking to him it will be Puss talking to Kitty and essentially making Kitty realize how much she misses Puss. in the end though Puss does not get revived, but the wish is not destroyed either. instead, kitty keep the wish with her, she also comes to terms with Puss's death. :D

The little fox sinner shifted walked around casually, clasping her glass of whiskey tightly in hand. What to do? Who to chat with? My, why of all times did she feel like a wall flower? Perhaps it was silly she never really made friends since coming to hell, but there were reasons. However, on occasions like this is certainly made it awkward didn’t it!

All of this was awkward really, especially now that she was exploring a new side to herself. Her tail flicked back and forth rapidly, expressing the conflict inside of her mind at the moment. Taking a breath, she calmed herself. She was a performer after all. She had been putting on the social mask since the late 1920s. So why now did she feel this way?

Thoughts were pushed away when she spotted Valentino. He seemed bored. Well that seemed like a good time as any to make conversation. Didn’t it? She walked over to the table whiskey in hand.

“Hello, darling!” She said in her usually chipper, but sultry tone “don’t you look fabulous tonight. I am enjoying this wonderful party that you fine folk have put on.” The confidence she displayed would never let you know how awkward she was feeling inside. “Ah where are my manners, my name is Kitty Hart, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Vee's Pride Party

Velvette made the party floor look fantastic. Just a ting campy to fit the theme. Chef's kiss.

That left him to set up the table with little food warmers for the food. There was some general catered faire like proper fancy hors d'oeuvres involving deli meats, caviar, and crackers with little toothpicks. Then his portion of the table with flautas, empanadas, and tamales. Nice mix of dips and sauces.

Vox always made sure the wet bar was well staffed and stocked. Though he did check that out too himself. Needed a good frozen margarita to give some of his hands something to do.

Everything was okay and he would see some people!

While waiting for people to gather, he relaxed and enjoyed the music at a small table near the dance floor. He'd be out in it after a while. Loved dancing.

He had nothing to chew on his claw tips about, but he kept catching himself nearly doing it. Kept hands either under the table or around his drink.

Whatever happened, he'd enjoy the atmosphere. He loved parties!

Press: A Thorough Breakdown of All the Marvel Easter Eggs on WandaVision

  Marvel Easter Eggs in WandaVision Episode 1

When Wanda accidentally smashes a plate into Vision’s head, he jokes about his wife and her “flying saucers,” and she comments back about his “indestructible head.” Considering that Vision died after having the Mind Stone ripped from his head, it’s a dark joke to kick off the series.

Vision’s work tie has a visual reference to his comic-book alter ego! In Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta’s Vision, whenever the character dresses as a human, he wears a tie clip that emulates the diamond pattern on his chest.

Vision’s boss, Mr. Hart, is likely named after comic creator Steve Englehart, who created 1985’s The Vision and the Scarlet Witch with Richard Howell, a miniseries that heavily influenced WandaVision.

It’s been heavily implied that Kathryn Hahn’s Agnes is the MCU’s Agatha Harkness, a witch who helped train Wanda’s magic back in the ’70s and ’80s.

When Wanda magically saves dinner, the bottle of wine she pours from is Maison du Mépris, which translates to house of contempt or scorn. As fans have pointed out since the trailer drop, this seems like a reference to the House of M comics storyline in which Wanda bends reality into a new world ruled by her family.

The Stark commercial break refers to two things: Avengers icon Tony Stark and his part in Wanda’s dark past. As Wanda and her twin brother, Pietro, explain in Avengers: Age of Ultron, their parents were killed by an explosive Stark Industries device, leaving the twins trapped under rubble. The Maximoffs were trapped by a Stark Industries shell for two days, expecting it to detonate before they get rescued. Even though Wanda eventually fights beside Tony in the future, there’s still some trauma from that experience and her brother’s death. If it weren’t for the Starks, Wanda could have been a completely different person.

The episode closes with a mysterious observer watching the “show” and taking notes on a pad with the logo of S.W.O.R.D. on the cover. For those who don’t know, S.W.O.R.D stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department and is a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s a counterterrorism and intelligence agency that deals with extraterrestrial threats to world security. Expect to see them around more.

Marvel Easter Eggs in WandaVision Episode 2

The opening credits for this episode aren’t just an adorable homage to Bewitched but a whole bevy of Marvel Easter eggs! The illustration of the moon happens to be surrounded by six stars, and we can’t help but be reminded of the Infinity Gauntlet.

When Wanda goes to the supermarket in the opening, three references hang above the aisle! Bova Milk refers to Bova, the humanoid cow who raised Wanda and Pietro on Mount Wundagore. Auntie A’s kitty litter is a witchy reference to Auntie Agatha or Agatha Harkness, whom we’ve discussed before, and her cat-like familiar named Ebony. And Wonder Mints is most definitely a cheeky reference to Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, the superhero who Vision’s brain is based on in the comics!

When animated Wanda and Vision settle on their couch, the small figure on their side table is a statue of the Whizzer. Featured in 1982’s Vision and the Scarlet Witch, the Whizzer thought he was Wanda’s father but later discovers he was wrong. Whizzer and his wife were offered the chance to adopt Wanda and Pietro when they were kids on the mythical Mount Wundagore, but they declined.

When Wanda hears a crash outside the house, she heads out to the front, where she finds a colorful toy helicopter in an otherwise black-and-white world. Not only does the red-and-yellow helicopter have the number 57 stamped on it, but it also bears the S.W.O.R.D symbol! The number is likely in reference to Vision’s first appearance in Avengers #57, while the symbol hints to the presence of S.W.O.R.D outside Wanda’s perfect world.

The creepy, cult-like refrain spoken by the fundraiser organizers of it all being “for the children” seems to be a reference to Wanda’s involvement in the comic event The Children’s Crusade. The story follows her son, Billy, who’s trying to gain control over his reality-warping abilities by looking for a missing Wanda.

Well, here’s another blast from the angsty past! The Strücker timepiece is a very obvious callback to Hydra and Baron von Strücker. The watch bears the unmistakable octopus skull symbol of Hydra, and Strücker is the Hydra leader who recruited Pietro and Wanda for the experimentation that gave them powers. He was later killed by Ultron in his prison cell. Does anyone else hear that ticking noise?

Remember good ol’ Herb? In the comics, a character named Herbert is also the High Evolutionary who runs Mount Wundagore, the very same safe haven where Bova delivered the Maximoff twins. Time will tell if the super-scientist is the same character, but it can’t be a coincidence.

Wanda and Vision’s magic show has two gems that we’ve noticed! First thing, the literal Mind Stone happens to be the design on the doors of the Cabinet of Mystery that plays a huge part in their act. Second, Wanda and Vision use the names Illusion and Glamour for their actor, which are also the names of the magicians that Vision goes to see in an issue of The Vision and the Scarlet Witch.

Though we all enjoy a good jam, The Beach Boys’ “Help Me, Rhonda” gets interrupted by someone asking, “Who’s doing this to you, Wanda?” And doesn’t that voice sound an awful lot like Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo?

While it may seem weird that Wanda shows her pregnancy in an instant, it’s in line with what goes on in the comics. Wanda uses magic to help her have children, which checks out since her husband is a synthezoid.

Oooh, that mysterious beekeeper! Not only does their presence lead to the reveal that Wanda has some control over the reality they’re in, but it also sets off some alarm bells. Even though the beekeeper’s suit bears the S.W.O.R.D logo on the back, the costume is reminiscent of the yellow costumes worn by A.I.M., a military science organization founded by Baron von Strücker. Could this be a sign that Wanda is being watched by more than one organization? And is this a hint that Hydra is back!? (Obviously, it is.)

A Little Night Music (Open Starter)

Her ears pricked up at the old familiar sound of tinkling keys. The fox demon was drawn. Oh how she cherished the piano! Normally she was the one playing it, singing along in a performance for another drunken crowd, blurred in darkness from the stage light blinding her eyes.

She made her way into the hotel lobby, carrying her suit case. Who knew that she would be greeted with such a delight. Gently, she set down her suit case on the floor, and listened. Her tall fox ears at attention pricked forwards listening intently. The woman on the piano was doing quite a good job!

She found her foot keeping time to the melody, a habit from work. The jazz singer smiled warmly. What a charming melody.

It came to close and their eyes met. Kitty was a classy looking fox sinner, dressed in an emerald green dress straight from the 1920s. Light beading across the breast shimmered in the lobby lighting. Her auburn hair was pinned up from work, cascading in curls down her neck.

“That was lovely dear! Quite the pleasant welcome.” She smiled brightly at her.

With everything that had been going on, Charlie hadn't had much time for hobbies. What little time she had had that wasn't actively running the Hotel and protecting it and promoting it, was spent making and setting up lessons. Eating and sleeping were the only things not directly tied to her work. But she found that lately with everyone helping out, she didn't have anything specific to do at the moment and she already had several lessons planned out.

So the first time in quite a while, she had true free time. She had thought about maybe trying to find something to do for the Hotel, but thought better of it. She's worked hard for so long! It's about time she did something just for fun! Thought it would need to be by herself since everyone was out doing their own thing right now. Actually, it probably was for the better to spend time with herself. As much of an extrovert as she was, sometimes some alone time could be nice.

As she thought back to what she used to do when she was younger, before the Hotel and its responsibilities, before her mother disappeared, even. Music. Of course, she still sang practically all the time, but she hadn't touched an instrument in years. She had actually learned and played multiple instruments, but the main three had been violin/fiddle, piano, and guitar. Her father's influence and teaching had a hand in the first, but the other two were better accompaniment with singing. Her violin and guitar had been destroyed when the Hotel collapsed and it hadn't been a priority to replace them just yet.

But there was a piano downstairs. Hm.

She finally made her way over to the large instrument, running her hands along the keys hesitantly. What was she nervous about? Nobody was around and it would be a while before even the first was expected back. Making up her mind, she sat down and absently plucked at the ivory keys, not playing anything specific at first, but mainly to get back into the swing of things. She had been years out of practice, after all. However, it didn't long for muscle memory to come back for the more simple tunes despite the odd out of place note. A century of playing didn't go away that easily.

As she played, again, only simple melodies for the time being, she didn't notice that she had an unexpected audience.
