Veilsmoke, Prologue Chapter #2: An Early Morning.
“Volk!” Scarlet strode in through the door, slamming a pile of documents down on her desk.
The office was perfectly silent. Owing to its previous purpose, the entire building had downright impressive acoustics, which should’ve allowed Scarlet to at least hear her associate walking down the stairs from the third floor.
Asleep. She sighed, stepping out into the lobby. Her shoes tapped rhythmically on the polished hardwood floor, melodic thumps tracing her path as she hovered between the various shelves and bookcases, organizing Volk’s usual mess. The cups from last night still sat on the central table rectangular, lowered to be level with the couches facing it on either side.
Scarlet took the cups, bringing them over to their proper place in the nearby break room– And there, her real quarry was found. On the counter, a half-full coffeepot sat, untended since last night. It was cold. Bitter. Subpar at best.
Scarlet did not hesitate.
A moment later, she came to, blinking as she stared at her reflection in the bottom of her cup. She shook her head, bitterness clearing up her mind even before the caffeine began taking effect.
She quickly set aside the various misplaced cups by the counter, and double-checked to make sure the rest of the room was in order. A moment later, she rushed across the lobby and back to her office, carefully lifting the large corkboard on the far wall and flipping it around to its other side– Which contained a map of Saint Roche City.
Retrieving a collection of colored thumbtacks from one of her drawers, she returned to the pile of police reports she’d just placed, beginning to re-organize her thoughts.
Disappearances in black. She spread the pins evenly throughout the entire map.
Drownings in blue. The pins dotted the eastern harbor, with a few landing on the two rivers dividing the city, and one or two pointing to private pools.
Shootings in red. Their distribution coincided more closely with population density, Scarlet carefully fitting multiple thumbtacks in certain downtown alleyways.
Stabbings in orange. Those followed the previous pattern, though she pondered for a second, noticing the strange density of stabbings in the upper-class west side– Even as little to no shootings occurred there.
Diseases in purple. The even distribution bent heavily towards the east of downtown– The old city, where her own headquarters sat. She took a moment to hope no occupied buildings nearby still had asbestos.
Accidents in yellow. Unsurprisingly, the industrial areas past the southern river bore the majority of pins. The singular pin sitting in the university campus to the North, however, made her a bit ill, knowing the body count of the single accident.
Poisonings in green. She shuffled through the last few papers, locating the crime scene and pinning it on the map before moving on to the next, meditatively repeating the motion– Until she paused. The scattered green pins around the map were one thing, but the densely-packed ring of green sitting in the northern old city confirmed the suspicions she’d lost sleep over.
Jackpot.
Finally, as she sat down on her desk, the telltale sound of bare footsteps echoed faintly. She didn’t bother standing up to greet its source, instead simply stretching her arms, feeling the tension in her shoulders after the long night.
The office door opened after a long moment. Volk peered in, dressed in a loose-fitting top and low-hanging pants, still looking half-unconscious– But still having hair neat enough to make it obvious he brushed it the moment he woke up. “...Wiped your shoes?”
“Of course.” She scoffed, leaning back. “Lectures put me to sleep.”
“Hmph.” His expression softened, offering a tired semblance of a smile. “Good morning, Scarlet.”
“‘Morning. How’re you doing?” She returned the smile, enjoying the pleasantries before she dragged him out for the day.
“Missing the food coma, honestly.” He sighed, drowsily scratching his exposed stomach. “...You?”
“Still sore from the heels.” She grumbled, standing up off the desk.
“...Training, then?” He stepped away from the door, glancing at the pin-covered map.
“Mhm.” She stretched an arm, bringing her elbow over her head. “Figured I’d wait for you to wake up.”
“Oh.” He paused, narrowing his eyes. “...Oddly generous of you.”
“I’m just like that.” She shrugged, walking past him and towards the back door in the lobby.
“...Scarlet.” He imposed. “We’re not working today.”
“Oh, really?” She smirked. “We’ll see.”
She slipped through the door, and out towards the back of the building.
Scarlet carefully pulled the cover off the sandbag. The mass of magnetic sand easily retained its shape, though it was always worrying to use it. The self-regrouping material at least meant she wouldn’t have to clean up afterwards.
She took a step back, tying her hair in a high ponytail and kicking off her shoes towards a corner. The small room used to be a concert space, and as such had the walls and floor especially reinforced. Eventually, its size made it perfect for training after the agency was established.
The small window on the far side of the room shone through, sun reflecting off the glittering sand. The light in her eyes, at least, had Scarlet stop reminiscing long enough to move.
Her first motion, as always, was a straight punch, delivered with purpose to the top of the sand pile. The impact was softened by the material, crunching satisfyingly under pressure, and slowly starting to reform as soon as she pulled her fist back.
Another punch, from her other hand, hit the side of the grayish, amorphous dummy. A series of alternated jabs served to compress the sand, which led to a left-side uppercut as the first move to break off a piece.
The chunk of sand flew through the air, splatting unceremoniously on the mat-covered floor. Scarlet paused just long enough to watch the scattered powder begin returning to its mass, before she switched gears.
Pulling her arms back into a guarding stance, she bounced from side to side on her feet, working out the soreness from yesterday with a series of kicks. Repeated lateral strikes ran up and down the target’s height, before switching sides; frontal kicks caused the whole dummy to partially collapse into a lean, only for a spin-kick from the back to straighten it back up.
Soon, she was practicing landing a whipping motion once more. Her foot landed, over and over, on the side of the dummy, sinking into the softened sand. Each time, she paused and focused, envisioning the particular flow of strength she needed to harness.
She stepped forward, breaths steadying. The target was already softened from the blows, and simple impact wouldn’t do much to it. Scarlet shifted her stance, pulling her right leg back, carefully adjusting her weight distribution– And then letting it loose, snapping around as her leg shot forward, carrying the momentum of her spin as she concentrated it in one spot.
Her foot connected with the sand. A split second later, the other side of the pile burst out violently, force carried through the full width of the dummy.
She stepped back, satisfied, barely even bothered by the fact she immediately stumbled onto the floor as her legs gave way after the exercise.
She sat there for a second, breaths heavy, sweat dripping off her chin and onto her white shirt, feeling the well-worked muscles bulging through her skin and twitching with pain.
She couldn’t help but giggle to herself as she stumbled out of the room, yelling out at the stairs leading to the residence above. “Volk! The shower had better be free!”
She needed to get ready. There was work to be done today, after all.

Nice try...and why did I anticipate, and yet hope, that you would actually use it—and avoid stooping as much as you have—because to use that particular admonition when you should have known that I would be loathe to hear it is simply the most saddening aspect of this experience. And this is where I am supposed to use the human common parlance “you must really think I am that stupid” but as your condescension and continually insulting refrain, the disgusting snd humanly dirtiest excuses busy-ness and its malevolent application in the passive form of ‘indifference towards spiritual principles’ has been a mantra for every session well as pre 1st session phone call is nauseatingly so very anemic as a valid basis of support for mistreating the pupil who lies in proper submissive posture and exposes his belly to the dominant female wolf as a sign of respect, trusting. This posture is not meant to be seen mistakenly as weakness and will humble the teacher in awe of the divine strength of the student.
The teacher, whereby, and duly in gratitude of this honor, accepts this teaching from the powerful and genuine earnest passion of the student to actively absorb and transform the stream of knowledge. The student will soon consume and transform this nourishing data into a desire filled vortex of concentrated emotionally chaotic elementary ingredient. This is to signal readiness for sculpting in guided learning and frictionally heats the IT and sears such creations into place through interactive wavelengths donated through the inner being of both partners in trusted alignment. And the continuation with the upward vibrational cycle, as the other mutually self and other compassionate characters in a transmutation dance. And the teacher as vibrationally in compassionately tending to simultaneously other and self and therein between. and embodied now assumes the role of instructor as a equilibrium flow cycles she is driven dutifully caretaking a sacred conduit of energetic variation. She, mindful of contrast, pursues a collaborative discourse with the student through venous and arterial continuous flow and corrective monitoring.
Given the low vibrational state you have fallen to that you have soiled a profoundly eminent and imperative procedural necessity in your selfish desire to please yourself fas you saw this opportunity —adaptive parasitic energetic opportunism created epigenetically, mutatively, or through intuitive or logical physical organic neurological experience.
And in your own autodeceptive trap, the peaceful and transcendant process creates no surprise. And had you been at least somewhat attuned to the vibrational frequency of your inner being, you would not even have considered to align to the false yet lucrative prophet of the momen. And if this unconscious and unconscionable action was also a result of my own creation of substantial energy perception somehow entering in your psyche dysfunctionally teaching you to perform the sepukku of the solemn functionally vibrational spirit bond.
And so I find myself yet again in disappointment at the temerity of attempting to chastise the victim perpetrated against as if he were a woman “asking for it” by the clothes she wore, as diabolical rationale for why I was raped.
The doubt is that this us the very same classic phenomena I described to ylu previous where I say to myself I trust them that they would refrain from engaging in such hurtful behavior much less double back to abuse the already expiring corpse in a most despicable example of what you humans would term ‘cognitive dissonance.’
While I might attribute it to the utter horror, self-loathing, and soul cringing news that you could be a “people pleaser” according to a very human and allopathic and very flawed and dubious assessment tool....your need to scrub yourself raw of the notion of pleasing another—because it could only be the stigma of the organ of your birth and the wound of your flesh of shame—has led you to another extreme of paranoiac hyperbole inapposite of your greatest and most attractive asset of compassion and kindness—to something altogether hideously simian. And while you also have been endowed with physically uncanny beauty and a level of energy undiminished by brain injuries or fatigue-laden imbalances...they are heaped under the hard light of the lime kiln burning the flesh to the bone as I was unprepared and deeply hurt in a way I rarely felt not only by your tone and manner with me and by canceling within a mere two hours or less of the actual appointment constituted...as you already know—wholly unprofessional, even in coach-level politeness, for someone ‘licensed’ as such, yet allows herself not only to humiliate her client in a shameful display of arrogance to please the mother superior—and—act as inconsiderate and smug, ... as if modeling yourself on the behavior of the chestnut wig and transparently poor excuse for a saint, who feels entitled to humiliate and project her own anger and obviously self-flagellating stereotypical fashion onto those who fall outside the pack of wolves and are vulnerable states and who are ill-prepared for the crudely dismissive farce that fails to hide the thinly veiled contempt I saw immediately as disingenuous charm so obviously coupled with the need to atone through buying oneself using ill-gotten gains into the mistakenly literal high altitude exclusive club if ‘heaven’—atonement not only through her own sins of emotionally abusing THIS client and refusing in rather comically repetitive and cruel terms—to accept news that is not terribly welcomed. But in repeatedly ignoring the messenger and mistaking the placid exterior for passive lack of self worth—a common form of ignorance that the unwary and overconfident exhibit—at their own peril— and, by the by, potentially shooting herself in the proverbial foot in the brilliant process.
Your performance followed by languishing around and again returning too soon and sheltering in place—as if I were a perpetrator— in your shitbox heap of metallic gloom—just allowed me to turn the corner yo view how absurdly asinine and pathetic a creature your own creation had become — as it began to take on your features.
For I was the one caught by surprise e having yo deescalate from my silly assumptions to asdign credulity to someone who says and believes they are a divine being. But whether or not I sm of not I am open in telling that I am most likely pretending as if I were...in thd hope. Of a playful way of internalizing some of themore elegant pronouncements of the ascribed way of the nonphysical being entertaining the idea and getting into character and admitting freely my own hypocrisy.....again I had to course correct from my own Sheltering Protection of Disbelief...
...Beyond sinew or bone, it had been a lonely while since I have felt that level of undeniably sharp emotional sadness and psychic dismemberment brought forth in the form of an internal sewing needle of dread from the heart through the gut, that I had previously thought I permanently exorcised to banished catacombs—the resurrection of sorrow brought me on the brink of tears.
So while I own the part where I trust too much I will not allow this to experience to jaundice my view of your successor—that I that to cooked the beginning of injustice will not occur under my watch.
I know you have more capacity for getting bigger and if you’re surrounded by vipers and sickness it takes a great deal of self care to maintain connection with source. Your benefactor can keep you back from your mission success inevitably and I hope you choose wisely in timing the cutting of this umbilicus.
If I am to pay honor to what humans call self-respect, then you know and agree you behaved in a hurtful and unacceptable manner. And I can hardly open to a state of allowance at all with the current paradigm and this of course you also know this is your notice of breach as the goods are not arriving free on board my old and weathered Plant door. The goods cannot very well be non conforming if they never even leave the point of origin. Violation and abuse comes in many mannerisms and forms and its pathology emanates from various sources.
And I say this with every intention of assertive didactic force that the imbalance lies in your misalignment causing warping in your priorities, myopically misplaced by your perceived lack of acceptance of your proclivity for these: obsessive thoughts that pleasing others is something about which to feel shame. Yet the shame exists only in your manifestation of suffering in another who is your student as well as your ultimate messiah in achieving your mission. That is Me and our collaboration.
Release thine own distorted facets of self and ask your limitless inner being what you desire and it answers; Allow its creation to enter your experience and you shall be swept beyond your dreaming and the bringing shall occur momentous and serene.

....The particular case involves a 33-year-old man from Eritrea, S., who came before Reese last year without an attorney. After converting to Pentecostal Christianity, a religion outlawed by the government, S. was arrested by the military in early 2005 for failing to show up for military service because it conflicted with his religious beliefs. “They gave me an option either to hold a gun and kill people … or be in prison,” he told Reese, citing Matthew 5:39. During the hearing, which took place on February 27, 2018, Reese asked S. to quote the passage. “Jesus ordered me that whoever slaps me on my face, I have to give him the other face, too; whoever takes my jacket, I have to give him my sweater, too,” S. said. “So those are the directions that I was given from Jesus, so I cannot kill people.” S. explained that he was taken to Karshali prison, in the Eritrean capital of Asmara, where he was beaten daily for six months. Reese asked if he had suffered any other harm. While detained at Pine Prairie, S. had disclosed to a doctor that he had been sexually molested at Karshali. “I’m embarrassed to tell this. It’s very hard for me,” S. told Reese. The court took a break and went off the record. When the hearing resumed, S. explained that two soldiers at Karshali had taken him into a cell and “covered my nose with plastic, and they inserted their genital organ in my mouth.” As they did so, he told Reese, they said, “Where is Jesus to save you?” He said guards did this on three separate occasions, and also inserted a stick into his anus. Reese asked if he had ever told anyone about this before revealing it to the doctor at Pine Prairie. “I did not,” he said. “This is very shameful for me to tell.” Later, S. said that, despite daily beatings, he refused to convert to Orthodox Christianity. “And every time you said no?” asked Reese. “Yes, based on Matthew 10:22,” he replied. “I didn’t—sir, I’m not asking you to quote scripture,” said Reese. “Jesus is asking me to talk for him.” Reese snapped. “And when you lied to the asylum officers or failed to disclose your sexual abuse, what do you think Jesus thought about that?” The judge followed that up with a lengthy diatribe, chastising S. for not revealing the abuse earlier. S. testified that he then spent 12 years at a forced-labor camp near the Sudanese border until he escaped. He didn’t know the name of the prison, only that it was near a military base called Sawa. Reese found his lack of knowledge of the prison’s name implausible, though if she had looked at a map of secret prisons in Eritrea published by Amnesty International, she would have found one at Sawa, which is reported to hold religious prisoners of conscience. Though he continued to refuse to renounce his faith, S. explained he began to pray aloud to various saints, as Orthodox Christians in Eritrea do, instead of directly to Jesus, so as to lessen the attention guards paid him. “Well, wasn’t that a lie?” Reese interjected. S. answered that after a good friend died in prison, he had begun to lose hope. “Do you know what Corinthians 15 and 54 says?” Reese asked, now asking him to quote scripture. S. apologized to Reese, saying that he didn’t remember. “It says to be steadfast and unmovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord. So starting to pray to the saints, which you said you no longer believe in, that doesn’t sound steadfast. Does it?” I read the transcript three times. I try to imagine being in S.’s situation, struggling to recall a particular passage of the Bible and then being lectured about my lack of faith. What bearing does such a line of questioning have on an asylum claim? What other purpose does it serve Reese than to assert her dominance over another, in a tiny courtroom with no observers? My thoughts turn to Trump, who has ridiculed asylum seekers, and to former attorney general Jeff Sessions, who has described the asylum system as “subject to rampant abuse and fraud.” Both men would no doubt consider Reese’s record a model for judges across the country. And in a judicial system controlled by the executive branch, I wonder how many more judges will be installed who harbor an instinctive belief that asylum seekers, rather than seeking safety, have arrived to game the system, and who, after too many years of misplaced mercy, need to be put in their place. As I was finishing up my reporting for this story, I learned that on June 21, 2019, after serving on the bench at Oakdale for more than two decades, Judge Reese retired. I reached out to her to seek an interview—as a retired judge, she’s allowed to speak to the media—but didn’t hear back. When I asked López whether her retirement might improve the chances of his clients, he wasn’t particularly optimistic. He said that as far as he knows, the newest Oakdale judge, Scott Laragy, a former military lawyer and federal prosecutor who was appointed last summer by Sessions, hasn’t approved a single asylum case. “The best I can say is that it can’t get any worse,” he said. Even with the departure of Reese, López will continue representing clients whom she has denied. That includes S., from Eritrea. Reese denied his asylum on April 25, 2018. She found that S. lacked credibility when it came to the date he went into hiding to avoid military conscription—at first he said it was in 2005, at the beginning of the year—but under questioning by Reese, he acknowledged it might have been September of 2004, a difference of several months. She also faulted him because he hadn’t previously disclosed the sexual abuse he claimed he suffered. When I asked López whether Reese’s retirement might improve the chances of his clients, he wasn’t particularly optimistic. “The best I can say is that it can’t get any worse.” Even if Reese had found S. credible, she wrote that she would have still denied his application because she couldn’t be certain of his identity. S. only had a baptismal certificate—he testified that his birth certificate was destroyed during the 1991 war for Eritrean independence from Ethiopia—and the US government was unable to determine the certificate’s authenticity. Reese determined that S.’s decision to not join the military was based on personal beliefs, not his religion. She concluded: “Respondent relocated to the US to avoid harm; there is no indication he cannot do the same within Eritrea.” S. appealed the case, but last October the appeal was denied. He spent more than a year at Pine Prairie and is now being held at the Etowah County Detention Center, in Alabama, where I reached him by phone in early May. He told me that during the break in the transcript, when the court went off the record, he spent ten minutes in the bathroom, crying and praying for guidance. A month after the hearing, he had surgery for internal bleeding, which he attributes to stress. “I came from darkness,” S. says in a shaky voice. “I was a young boy seeing all of this horrible stuff. She asked me, ‘Why did it take you so long to run away [from prison]?’ I was scared! I was scared to have a bullet in my head.” Back in Eritrea, his parents were overjoyed when they learned he had arrived in the US. Now they struggle to understand why he’s back in prison. ICE wants to deport him but can’t, because Eritrea isn’t accepting deportees. At Etowah, about 300 migrants are held in the county jail, sometimes for years. López has filed for S.’s release, hoping to prevent his indefinite detention. (I learn later that S. has since been released and can live and work legally in the US, but if conditions in Eritrea change and ICE is able to send him back, he will be deported.) For now S. spends 23 hours a day in his cell, with an hour of recreation inside an indoor cage. He tells me he hasn’t seen the sun for two months...
“Your Judge Is Your Destiny”
Agnelis L. Reese has presided over more than 200 hearings during the past five years as an immigration judge. Unique among her peers, she has rejected every single case.

USB Flash Drives: Components, Uses, and Myths Dispelled
The USB flash drive—also known as a jump drive, data stick, or thumb drive—continues to be the most popular portable storage device, with sales estimated to exceed 500 million annually by 2020. Although cloud storage is making headway in the same market spaces, USB drives offer capacity, speed, and size that make them ideal for many uses beyond just storage, including some perhaps unexpected uses as well. This article explores what’s inside a USB flash drive, explores various uses, and dispels common myths.
A Look Inside
A typical USB flash drive includes a USB connector, a mass storage controller, one or more flash memory chips, and a crystal oscillator, as well as additional features such as jumpers, LEDs, switches, and unpopulated space.
The memory capacity and speed of USB drives continue to increase. As of the time of this writing, 512GB USB drives are becoming common, with 1TB capacity also available. The average speed for a highly-ranked 64GB USB 3.0 device is 104MB/s for a write operation and 171MB/s for a read operation.
Recently, USB drives incorporated the Type-C connector, which provides a yet even smaller and thinner connector compared to the Type-A connector. The Type-C connector has a rounded, symmetric shape that fits into ports easily yet securely, and works either way up (solving the problem that everyone has faced where they have to stick a USB plug in three times before it eventually goes in). Figure 2 shows a USB drive that accommodates both the old and the new sockets.
How to plug a thin promo USB Drive into a computer?
Technological advances have allowed a regular USB to become increasingly compact. While the more modern, state-of-the-art USBs are thinner, sleeker and sexier, they have a bit of a learning curve associated with using them. In particular, first time users often are not sure which direction the USB should be facing when plugged in to a USB port. Among other types of promo flash drives, these include our famous promotional Wafer USB Cards, and custom USB Clip.
Tired of losing your precious pen drives? Tired of spending hours searching for them, only to find them tucked away in some dingy corner? Or tired of having to finally give up and go run to the nearest store for another one? It seems like product designers Claire Pondard and Léa Pereyre have gone through the same dilemma innumerable times because they’ve decided to answer all our USB-related prayers! Their key-shaped intriguing product ‘Saint Antoine’ goes beyond any ordinary USB key. Deemed as common everyday products, due to their nimble size and consistent usage, pen drives are easily misplaced. However, Saint Antoine has been equipped with a crisp UDP chip. Now, what’s so special about this chip? After thorough calculations and necessary trial runs, the chip was customized to fit perfectly between the keys of a laptop/computer keyboard, ensuring it will be tightly fixed to it at all times. The grooved edges and branch-like structure of the pen drive allow it to sneakily merge into the crevices of the keyboard, without destroying the screen once the laptop is shut.
A Look at the MicroSD Card of the Future: Speed and Capacity meet Reliability
Manufacturers recently released the largest capacity and fastest microSD cards ever made. The 128 GB cards demonstrate more than a 1,000-fold increase in storage density over the last decade, and the fastest speeds of these microSD cards now rival other high-speed options for wireless computing.
The SD Association is made up of application developers and micro SD and component manufacturers. The organization determines microSD technology specifications and sets standards and roadmaps for the industry. SD Association President Brian Kumagai explained some of the new features and recent technology trends that help ensure microSD cards remain relevant and offer viable storage for many products and markets in the future.
Markets driving standardization
MicroSD cards are predominantly used in smartphones and other mobile devices that have limited space. When microSD cards first arrived on the scene, they quickly became the most popular form factor for mobile devices, and according to Kumagai, that is what drove their success. The microSD market is rapidly growing as more smartphones ship with microSD card slots. Even though the newest phones made by industry giant Apple do not currently accommodate microSD cards, those made by Samsung and many others do.
Over time, smartphone manufacturers have reduced the amount of on-board memory that ships with smartphones, thus lowering their hardware costs. Consumers have compensated by adding additional storage, often using 8 GB microSD cards. In fact, the bulk of microSD cards sold is used in smartphones, but sales of larger cards (16 and 32 GB) continue to grow. MicroSD card use is also growing in other devices that need small form factors, such as consumer digital imaging and video cameras like the GoPro action camera, night-vision IP security cameras, nanny cameras, automotive in-dash cameras and tablets. MicroSD is still the storage space of choice as devices become smaller and cards gain higher capacity, become faster and exhibit better performance.
Capacity: It’s all in the flash memory technology
The fundamental technology in all SD cards and any type of solid-state storage device today is NAND flash memory. Current NAND flash memory chips use floating-gate processes that all manufacturers support. Over the years, decreasing the horizontal line width of the lithography technology used in NAND memory production has created higher density storage capacities. The industry roadmap shrank design-rule dimensions for memory features from 110 nm down to the current size of 19 nm, making smaller NAND chips and allowing microSD cards to use more of them to hold more data. At these thin-line widths, there are only a few electrons of charge inside a single level cell. NAND chips using 16 nm line widths will be coming soon, but Kumagai says the industry is starting to see the limitations of scaling to smaller lithography.
Within the next year, NAND suppliers are expected to roll out the next generation technology that will go vertical and offer much higher densities than the current technology. The 3-D concept involves grinding individual cells so they are much thinner and stacking more of them so there is more than one cell in the same horizontal plane. “This technology is more difficult to produce. The thinner it is, the more difficult it is to read all the different levels, and error correction becomes needed,” says Kumagai.
All major NAND suppliers have 3-D technologies in development now. “The microSD card will look the same on the outside and at the interface, but the new 3-D NAND processes may help reliability and have other impacts on the industry if the technology is cheaper,” Kumagai says.
One way higher reliability processes will change the industry is that it will create new uses for microSD cards. They will be used in high-end automotive or industrial applications such as bar-code readers and scanners that need to store important data.
Strategies for higher speeds
While memory manufacturers are increasing the storage capacity by improving NAND technologies, they are also increasing microSD card speed with a combination of hardware and software strategies. One way is through the interface. A new high-speed serial interface (UH-II) handles the speed by having a second row of pins connect to the outside world and a new file system that supports much larger micro XSDHC or SDXC cards that are 32 GB to 2 TB. The newest second-generation ultra-high-speed (UHS2) cards using this interface have much faster read and write times at up to 312 mbps, up from 104 mbps on older generation cards.
Another area where speed can be gained is in the flash-memory controllers. This component manages the NANDs and does a handshake to the outside world. The controllers in the fastest-speed-class microSD cards use strategies to help both functions, such as using multiple channels and interleaving data.
What is an SSD?
A solid state drive (SSD) is an external storage device for your computer that works like a USB flash drive.
An SSD has no moving parts and is more reliable than the traditional hard drives it's replacing.
Visit Business Insider's Tech Reference library for more stories.
How an SSD works
Like a hard drive, an SSD is used to store large volumes of data whether the system is on or off, for extended periods of time. But unlike hard drives, an SSD has no moving parts, and is more akin to a flash drive.
Instead of reading and writing data to a spinning platter, an SSD stores data on flash memory chips (sometimes referred to as NAND flash memory). In this way, an SSD is essentially no different than a USB flash drive, or the memory you'd find in a smartphone or tablet.
In addition to memory chips, an SSD also has a controller chip. The controller is responsible for knowing where data is stored on the device and can find requested data in nanoseconds — almost instantly — which makes SSDs very fast storage devices.
Difference Between Flash Drive and Pen Drive
Flash drives and pen drives are two terms that we use interchangeably today. However, that was not the case 15 years ago.
Flash drives were devices that ran on flash memory. Their sole purpose was to store information and transfer it between the connected computers. The connection takes place through the USB port that is on the hardware.
Pen USB flash drive, on the other hand, were bulkier than flash drives and had more length to it. Due to their elongated size, they were given the name Pen Drives. They also ran on flash memory and had a USB interface to communicate with the computer.
Nowadays, the difference in size is no more. All the flash drives and pen drives of today have the same function, the same internals, and the compact form factor. So there is no real distinction you can draw from them. Hence, the pen drives and flash drives of today are essentially the same.
Next, we will go over the different types of USB flash drives. Please note that they can be categorized according to their uses, or physical characteristics. We attempt to find a balance between the two.

advertising agencies in northern virginia
Within the novel Leigh Teabing explains to Sophie Neveu that the determine on the proper  advertising agencies in northern virginia  hand of Jesus in Leonardo da Vinci's portray of "The Final Supper" isn't the apostle John, however really Mary Magdalene. Within the novel, Mary Magdalene was the spouse of Jesus Christ and was pregnant together with his little one when Jesus was crucified. Leigh Teabing says that the absence of a chalice in Leonardo's portray signifies that Leonardo knew that Mary Magdalene was the precise Holy Grail and the bearer of Jesus' blood within the type of the kid she was carrying. Leigh Teabing goes on to elucidate that this concept is supported by the form of the letter "V" that's shaped by the bodily positions of Jesus and Mary, as "V" is the image for the sacred female. The absence of the Apostle John within the portray is defined by understanding that John can also be known as "the Disciple Jesus cherished", code for Mary Magdalene. The e-book additionally notes that the colour scheme of their clothes are inverted: Jesus wears a pink shirt with royal blue cape; John/Mary wears a royal blue shirt with pink cape - maybe symbolizing two bonded halves of marriage. Read More
In response to the novel, the secrets and techniques of the Holy Grail, as saved by the Priory of Sion are as follows:
* The Holy Grail isn't a bodily chalice, however a lady, specifically Mary Magdalene, who carried the bloodline of Christ.
* The Outdated French expression for the Holy Grail, San gréal, really is a play on Sang actual, which accurately means "royal blood" in Outdated French.
* The Grail relics encompass the paperwork that testify to the bloodline, in addition to the precise bones of Mary Magdalene.
* The Grail relics of Mary Magdalene have been hidden by the Priory of Sion in a secret crypt, maybe beneath Rosslyn Chapel.
* The Church has suppressed the reality about Mary Magdalene and the Jesus bloodline for 2000 years. That is principally as a result of they concern the ability of the sacred female in and of itself and since this may problem the primacy of Saint Peter as an apostle.
* Mary Magdalene was of royal descent (via the Jewish Home of Benjamin) and was the spouse of Jesus, of the Home of David. That she was a prostitute was slander invented by the Church to obscure their true relationship. On the time of the Crucifixion, she was pregnant. After the Crucifixion, she fled to Gaul, the place she was sheltered by the Jews of Marseille. She gave delivery to a daughter, named Sarah. The bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene turned the Merovingian dynasty of France.
Tumblr media
* The existence of the bloodline was the key that was contained within the paperwork found by the Crusaders after they conquered Jerusalem in 1099 (see Kingdom of Jerusalem). The Priory of Sion and the Knights Templar have been organized to maintain the key.
The secrets and techniques of the Grail are related, based on the novel, to Leonardo Da Vinci's work as follows:
* Leonardo was a member of the Priory of Sion and knew the key of the Grail. The key is the truth is revealed in The Final Supper, wherein no precise chalice is current on the desk. The determine seated subsequent to Christ isn't a person, however a lady, his spouse Mary Magdalene. Most reproductions of the work are from a later alteration that obscured her apparent feminine traits.
* The androgyny of the Mona Lisa displays the sacred union of female and male which is implied within the holy union of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Such parity between the cosmic forces of masculine and female has lengthy been a deep risk to the established energy of the Church. The title Mona Lisa is definitely an anagram for "Amon L'Isa", referring to the daddy and mom gods of Historical Egyptian faith (specifically Amun and Isis).
Various completely different authors additionally speculate about the potential of Jesus turning into a father. There are not less than three kids attributed to him, a daughter Tamar, born earlier than the Crucifixion, and two sons Jesus (the Jesus Justus from the New Testomony) and Josephes, each born after the Resurrection. Though their names are actually a part of the widespread tradition of conspiracy writers, solely 20 years in the past, when The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail was written, the names weren't talked about. The royal descents that lie on the coronary heart of The Da Vinci Code thriller centre on the household of Josephes, who is meant to be the grandfather of Aminadab del Graal, first of the "Fisher Kings". Nevertheless the genealogies which might be quoted in Grail lore seem to file too few generations, with kids frequently being born to fathers of their 40s.
Thriller throughout the thriller
A part of the promoting marketing campaign for the novel was that the paintings within the American model of the bookjacket held varied codes, and that the reader who solved them by way of the writer's web site can be given a prize. A number of thousand folks really solved the codes, and one title was randomly chosen to be the winner, with the title introduced on reside tv, Good Morning America, in early 2004. The prize was a visit to Paris.
The 5 hidden puzzles reveal:
* That the again of the e-book jacket conceals latitude and longitude coordinates, written in reverse, gentle pink on darkish pink. Including one diploma to the latitude offers the coordinates of the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Company in Northern Virginia, which is the situation of a mysterious sculpture referred to as Kryptos. The coordinates have been taken from a part of the decrypted textual content of half 2 of the sculpture (half four has by no means been solved). When Brown has been requested why the coordinates are one diploma off, his reply has been, "The discrepancy is intentional".
* Daring letters are current on the e-book jacket. There's a secret message hidden within the textual content of the e-book flaps. The message: Is there no assist for the widow's son (a reference to Freemasonry).
* The phrases "solely WW is aware of" could be seen on the again cowl. It's a phrase printed invertedly, within the torn a part of the e-book cowl. This too is a reference to half 2 of the Kryptos sculpture.[1]

* A circle with numbers, between the Doubleday brand and the barcode, reveals a secret message. These are the chapter numbers the place the preliminary letters are organized in Caesar field format.
* There may be reverse writing on the duvet of the e-book, which is the riddle for the primary cryptex.
Brown, each by way of his web site and in particular person, has said that the puzzles within the bookjacket give hints concerning the topic of his subsequent novel, The Misplaced Image. This repeats a theme from his earlier novels. For instance, Deception Level had an encrypted message which, when solved, mentioned, "The Da Vinci Code will floor".
Within the simplified Chinese language model of The Da Vinci Code, the duvet has a secret textual content; nevertheless, this textual content could be simply seen. It reads: "13-Three-2-1-1-Eight-5 O, Draconian satan! Oh, Lame Saint! P.S. Discover Robert Langdon." That is the multiply encrypted clue written in invisible ink subsequent to the useless physique within the museum which kicks off the plot of your entire novel.

I can't find the right little star but 10 facts about your precious boss please!!
Thank you so much for asking! I’d love to share more about Bobby.
1.) Of course “Bobby” is short for Robert, but he absolutely refuses to ever let anyone call him by that name. He was named for his Uncle, and due to unfortunate events that was the man who… I hesitate to say raised him more like had custody of him growing up. Long story short: Abusive alcoholic, Bobby got the heck out of there and hasn’t checked in since.
2.) Happier things! Bobby is great with kids. He’s a giant goofball at heart and is more than happy to babysit whenever anyone needs him to. He definitely takes the younger Saints under his wing, having learned that family can be who you chose.
3.) Bobby and Katie (one of his lieutenants (another OC of mine) met when he first moved to the ‘States, on the bus in elementary school. She laughed at his accent, he laughed at her outfit (which that day consisted of a pink, glittery tutu over athletic shorts, with a very much not matching green t-shirt with a cartoon show logo he’d never heard of) and they were friends ever since. The two consider each other their sibling, they’re nearly inseparable.
4.) There are two places Bobby always keeps perfectly organized: the garage and the kitchen. He’s particularly talented at tuning up bikes (a learned skill) and takes the extra time to make sure he knows where all his tools are, he can’t stand misplacing something, especially while working. Similarly, he loves to cook, and likewise, he works better if he knows where everything is so if he needs something he’s not losing time searching for it.
5.) When the Boss is in the kitchen, everyone gets fed. He always goes out of his way to ensure he makes more than he thinks he needs. There’s always someone who wanders in and who really wants a bite, after all. Of course, those who partake might get called in for dish duty.
6.) Bobby is a ruthless street racer. He got started with that while still in high school, and he remembers his bitter defeats. More present-ish day (before the world exploded and whatnot) he is undefeated on his various motorcycles tuned just for this purpose. He runs a “Boss for a day” challenge to anyone who can beat him, but so far he’s never had to pony up that prize.
7.) Bobby is a huge, romantic, dork but thinks he hides that with his “Boss persona”. He doesn’t. Literally everyone knows.
8.) Bobby and Pierce get along great. They are absolutely best friends. He’s close to Gat and Shaudi too but in different ways. He and Gat have a strong, very unspoken but for serious everyone knows they’ve both seen some shit and would absolutely die for each other back to back in a blaze of glory. He thinks of Shaudi as a sister, but one who needs her space sometimes, but he’s  good about making sure she knows he’s there if she needs him for anything. Even if it’s to yell at him awhile.
9.) Bobby is pretty good at hiding when he’s hurt. He generally tries to always keep a smile going if he can. He tends to mourn alone and doesn’t like it when the others know he’s not operating at 100%. Katie always knows when he’s faking it, but they also know how to handle Bobby when he’s sad (get him somewhere alone, cuddle, and just make sure he knows someone’s there for him.). Of course, in general he tends to bounce back quickly after he’s had a little time to process.
10.) The love of Bobby’s life, Orlando, was the first person he fell completely head over heels for after a few meetings. They met initially when, on a mission, he went crashing through a window and ended up in the laboratory Orlando was working in and somehow they left with each other’s number. Super intelligent, on the skinny side, with glasses, loves his terrible taste in music, and laughs at his jokes, Orlando met all of Bobby’s standards quick. Katie is the one who made sure these two idiots finally went out on a date. They said being in the same room with the two of them was giving Katie cavities.
This was super fun! I hope you liked! :D

Mathematicians, Hikes and Apéros
Through the ThinkSwiss scholarship, I have had the wonderful experience of doing mathematics research at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, where I am being hosted by Professor János Pach in his Discrete Geometry group. Working in this very active group, in which there is no one less than five years my senior, has been a fantastic experience, where I have the pleasure of learning from and working with extremely strong mathematicians. In addition to mathematics, I am enjoying the intellectual culture in Switzerland; in this group, the hard work is supplemented by movie nights and extremely frequent apéros, where I have been able to get to know the phenomenally interesting people I am working with and receiving mentoring from.
When not doing research, I have been taking advantage of the various methods provided by the Universities in Lausanne for learning French, as well as exploring Switzerland. My research stay began in early September, and before my arrival, I was somewhat disappointed that I would get to Switzerland too late to attend the Montreux Jazz festival or see the countryside in the full swing of summer. I also thought I had missed my opportunity to swim in Lake Geneva, which would allow me to say (more or less) that I went swimming in Evian water without needing to buy the 400,000 liter size water bottles required to fill a swimming pool. Fortunately, my disappointment was wildly misplaced in both respects. Concerning swimming in Lake Geneva, a bike ride warmed me up enough to convince me that fifteen degrees (Celsius!) is warm enough for a swim. And while it is getting colder, the scenery while hiking has been nothing less than spectacular, so much so that I incessantly told my hiking partner that what I was seeing was how I imagined much of the landscape in the Lord of the Rings. It turns out that Tolkien had spent time exploring this same surreal landscape and it served as an inspiration for several settings in his trilogy. And though the Montreux Jazz Festival is over, the cities of Lausanne and Geneva continue to hold a wide variety of cultural events, ranging from an organ concert in the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre, to a free performance in the heart of Lausanne by French rap group called double zed, to the incredibly indie Lausanne Underground Film Festival.
While I am only seven weeks into my six month stay in Switzerland, working and living here has been a fantastic and already transformative experience. I am incredibly grateful for the ThinkSwiss scholarship, and I hope to be able to return to research and travel in Switzerland as often as possible.
