I'm a casual admirer of fungi, are there any good introductory books or learning resources about mycology you recommend?

For ID I’d recommend iNaturalist, the Mycology subreddit, or an identification book - Mushrooms Demystified by David Aurora is a classic in the States, though it’s pretty sizable (otherwise an ID book restricted to your locale works).

For learning about mycology in general, local nature centers and museums sometimes have really great programs. There’s great stuff on Youtube if you’re a visual learner.

Let me know if you have any questions in particular! My fungi skills are getting a little rusty living in Utah (why so dryyyyyy) so I would welcome anything to keep me up with mycology.

I thought that too, and I think I’ve experienced that or something similar since I was little but I feel like this is different. I’m not sure if I see the “flash” most people experience. I also used to get intense brain zaps as a kid. 

The other night it was an explosion but it sounded almost alien, like a spacecraft. It woke me up clutching my chest because I thought I was being abducted or something. After a few seconds I realized I was just in bed and calmed down but the sound was sooo weird. It was long too, not just like a single explosion, but drawn out like BOOM KJAHDLKJSHADKJSA fyuuwuuuuuuuuusshhhhhhuuuushhhhhhhkhjhhhh. The night after that I thought it was someone breaking in and I woke up so terrified that I tried to get up and find Blue to protect her before I realized nothing was wrong. Last night might have just been me hearing the trash can falling in the middle of the night, because I found it knocked over in the morning. That one woke my dad up too. 

There have been 2 really intense scary times during a bad spinal flare up when I was heavily medicated that scared me so bad that I ran around the house in circles because I kept thinking it was either the doorbell, an intruder breaking in, or my house being on fire. Those times the “explosion” was physically painful, like I’d been shot in the head, and my vision and hearing became distorted for several minutes and when I tried to talk to my dad I was like, slurring and rambling. And my heart was pounding so hard I thought I was about to drop dead. 

Idfk what it is but oof, I’m tired. I’ve lost sleep the past few nights because of it.

i'm pretty sure it's like saying TW or CW without dictating whether something is actually worthy of being called a trigger or just needing a content warning? like something that could be harmful to someone vs something that is annoying. also /// goes for all of them so i don't have to say "this thing tw" and "this thing cw". cuts down on what i have to tag lol. but yeah, it's a way of blocking something for those who don't want to see it without it showing up in the tag for that thing?

Duuude one time I spectated a match with this EPIC cat and mouse with Freddy as the killer. Dude kept juking him and survived for like 45 mins but they were almost equally matched but Freddy finally won after a while. Was bananas.

The homies and I were like screaming watching the TV. Best suspense ever.

Omg yeah, like this game is so brilliant and fun. I just wish I had better computer/internet for it, but omg. It’s addicting too.
