Drabble Month, Day 15: Fortunate ˚⁎⁺ Levi x GN!Reader
CONTENT — Hurt/comfort. Written for @thedrabblecollective as part of the AOT Vets Drabble Month. Divider by @cafekitsune.
Tumblr media
“You know,” you murmur, “you really can’t keep on pushing yourself like this.”
Levi avoids your gaze. He's sitting topless next to you, while you tend to his shoulder.
It allows you to examine the full scope of his survival, past and present. His torso, marked with stretched-out scars that intertwine to the front like mismatched roots.
The sight makes your chest ache.
“I know you’re Humanity’s Strongest and all, but you still hurt like the rest of us, don't you?”
“Quit fretting.”
“Isn’t it a fortunate thing? To have people who worry about you?”
Levi’s eyes meet yours.

Thinking about unbridled tension with Diavolo because…
If there’s something Diavolo wants, he will get it.
Lucifer, the once beloved Morningstar, takes a metaphorical knee when he sees Diavolo.
Barbados, a being who could bend time at will has acquiesced to Diavolo’s command.
He will get the three realms to unify. The naysayers who think Diavolo will flounder and fail cannot comprehend how wrong they are.
No one can comprehend that Diavolo will unify the three realms because he will have you.
It’s not up for debate. A mild human interest kickstarted Diavolo’s appreciation of you. You were much more appealing than Solomon, your wary eyes a mismatch for his that screamed power.
Yes. Diavolo’s been watching.
When you beguiled Mammon into a pact, when you took Levi and Beel as collateral. He nearly proposed to you when you claimed Lucifer as yours. How bold.
But Diavolo can bide his time. He knows you want him, he’s seen and preened at the side glances you give him. Gone shirtless or worn a tight fitting shirt to give you something to think about for the rest of the week. He’s crowded into your space, a “clueless” smile on why you’re so nervous.
Barbatos eerily applauded you for making Diavolo so patient. You didn’t understand his comment, but didn’t dwell on it because Diavolo walks in. And when he comes in, he demands your attention. Who are you to look away from the Prince of the Devildom himself?
Oh no. You’ll keep looking. You like what you see.
Diavolo gets everything he wants. He likes where you’re at now, the unbidden tension. Will you snap? Will he? How far do humans go before they say, “fuck it” and spill their heart out.
Diavolo will unify the three realms. And he will have you.

❝grocery shopping with him❞

Tumblr media
LUCIFER
He is very efficient. Knowing exactly where every aisle is, the shopping basket is full in the blink of an eye. You are there only to keep him company. Time with you is precious and he intends to keep you close whenever the opportunity presents itself.
He scans the prices and brands before making a decision. He gets the best coffee beans directly from the plantations and he pays them well. He is “husband goals” if you are of an economic mind. He has a lot of coupons but his pride forbids him from using those. Beel is only too happy to receive it from his eldest brother. Owing to his busy schedule, he sometimes gets the necessities delivered. The bored cashier straightens up and greets him very respectfully.
He insists on carrying the bags himself and doesn’t listen to your protests.
MAMMON
Well, he’s scared to visit some stores because he hasn’t paid them back for decades. He is very particular about the stores you two can visit. Once there, he vanishes to check out the shelves and schemes about what he can sell for a higher price.
“After all, demons would pay extra to buy it from THE Great Mammon. We can send the bill to Lucifer. Hahaha,” says Mammon with a bunch of mismatched stuff in his shopping basket.
The burden of completing the shopping falls on you.
You sigh, “Let’s get it done before Lucifer calls and asks for dinner.”
You two carry the shopping bags together.
He buys you a gift while browsing.
LEVIATHAN
He is incapable of completing this mission alone. You must accompany him as he makes a comeback in the outside world in what feels like an eternity! His eyes dart to and fro as if afraid that someone will be disgusted by his presence.
“Where can we get this item, [Name]?” he asks for literally everything on the list.
You give him a tour for the future despite him refusing to follow.
“Levi, you should know where everything is!”
He literally gags when he sees seafood and runs away as fast as he can.
“Levi, wait! You can’t go out with the basket without paying first!”
You apologise for him but keep supporting him. You carry all the bags because he looks shaken and weak.
ASMODEUS
“Oh, [Name], look at these cute shaped cookies. We should definitely get these for my Devilgram!”
Within a few minutes, he has gotten everything in the store that’s not on the list.
“Asmo,” you say breathlessly as you try to catch up to him, “We need to buy groceries for dinner! We can’t eat chocolates and cookies… is that lip gloss? Let’s grab some vegetables!”
Asmo pouts but you shield your eyes from his cuteness. “No, Asmo! It’s been an hour. We should get started now. Plus, the two of us can’t carry all that!”
That’s when he gives up. “You are right. Maybe we can come back some other time. Let’s get the food before Lucifer gets mad.”
He returns some items since it got too heavy and then you two easily carry it to HOL.
SATAN
He’s very methodical and knows where the best deals are to be found! The shopkeepers know him only too well. Oh, vegetables? He knows a place where you can get fresh ones. Ah toiletries? Why, allow him to show you where good quality yet cheap toilet paper can be found. Name it!
Owing to his influence, he never returns from a shopping trip without getting everything that’s on his list - even if it’s sold out everywhere.
“I must get fresh ingredients to prove that my food is better than Lucifer’s,” he grins as he starts dinner preparations. “Oh, and try this coffee. The beans are a delicacy. I stayed awake for 2 days after drinking half a cup. I completed an entire series by a writer I like.”
“Sounds dangerous for the health, Satan.”
BEELZEBUB
You accompany him to make sure that he doesn’t eat the grocery store while he’s at it. He listens to you and tries to control himself but his hands still stretch to grab some food items that nobody should eat raw. So you have to devote half of your attention picking items for dinner and the other half to make sure that Beel doesn’t cause a lot of trouble.
“I’ll make you something you will enjoy for dinner so just wait for a bit longer, bub,” you promise and he behaves.
The rest of the trip is spent imagining all the delicacies that he will request you to make.
He carries all the bags back.
BELPHEGOR
He’s too lazy to care.
“Why didn't you ask one of my brothers to do the shopping in your place?” Belphie groans, looking drowsy. The supermarket was not his idea of an ideal date. “You know that they would have been only too happy to do it if you had asked. Then we could have taken a nap together instead.”
You put some onions in the basket and turn towards him wearily. “But it was my turn today. I can't always drop the burden on someone else. Besides,” your tone softens, almost apologetic, “Why don't I make something you like tonight? Something light on the stomach that will help you get good dreams?”
He narrows his eyes but looks pleased, “It seems that I am no different than my brothers. I can't say no to you. You make me melt. What can I say? You know me too well… ”
You carry the bags while he carries a pillow.
DIAVOLO
He tags along to spend time with you. The idea of chatting with you while doing the most mundane daily activities appeals to him. It’s sweet and endearing and he likes to stop talking and instead observe you deciding between two brands. These are Barbatos’ duties so he never gets the chance to enjoy these. He seems to be familiar with tea and coffee and can guide you about the best ones, even though he rarely drinks store-bought beverages.
He bombards you with questions about what you usually buy and make for dinner and promises to join you again if he's free.
He won’t let you carry the bags. Let him help you. Whoever sees the demon prince with grocery bags in his hands feels startled. Even royal demons are involved in housework! Mothers will be telling this story to the little ones for centuries to come.
SOLOMON
Solomon takes his time since you are there with him. A man needs to relax after researching all day.
“Ah look at this leafy cabbage. This was grown at the Hellfire Plantation. They use a special kind of manure. It’s very tasty,” he says and buys two.
The extent of his knowledge is bizarre. When he catches you looking mystified, he laughs. “Haha you look so suspicious of me. I am sorry. For some time in the last century, I took special interest in learning about the agricultural and rearing practices in the Devildom.”
“Wow Solomon,” you say impressed. “There seems to be nothing you don’t know!”
“Haha, that’s kind of you but there’s still a lot to learn about the world.”
“Thank you for coming shopping with me. Why don’t we return to Purgatory Hall? I will treat you to my cooking?” he offers with a satisfied smile.
Your instinct tells you to run but you ignore it and smile shakily instead. “Eh… ah… I actually promised Levi that I will play games with him tonight. Sorry! Maybe next time?”
That's when your legs start moving in the opposite direction, deserting him with all the bags.

MC purposely calls the brothers by some other name just to spite them. Can you write their reactions? Thanks! 🌟...
Oh no this is a bad idea for MC but of course I can!
How the brothers would react to MC calling them a different name
Lucifer
As you two sat together doing paperwork you got severely bored. You hated going through all of this every day. Luckily you had Lucifer beside you to help you out. This time you decide to cause some mischief. As you get up you walk over to Lucifer and set a paper down infront of him. "Hey Solomon what's this say" you ask and before you can even apologize he whips his head towards you and suddenly drags you down onto his lap. "My name isn't Solomon. You know exactly what my name is MC." He says his pride is getting damaged from the wrong name and yet as you find yourself in his lap you couldn't seem to care much. "Oh...sorry Luci just a mess up"
Mammon
As you lay in his bed with him just scrolling on each other's phones boredom got the best of you. You turn towards him then suddenly start up a story "I love to lay like this all the time with" you pause then grin "your bed is so warm and comforting Lucifer" you say as if you have said it a thousand times. He immediately sits up and glares at you "that is not my name mc" he says and then turns his back to you. He sulked into his bed and you had tried to comfort him but he wasn't happy.
Levi
You two as always were gaming together when Levi suddenly asked who your favorite person to game with is fully thinking you'd say him you suddenly blurt out "Oh yeah it's diavolo" you say. You kept gaming and noticed Levi just staring. You pause the game then turn to him "yeah?" You ask. He looks like he's about to cry when he says "D-Diavolo huh?" Your heart couldn't take it much more "I'm sorry Levi I meant you" he was also not happy more so just sad and couldn't look at you all for about a few seconds since you hugged him and it made it better.
Satan
You look at the clock at the library you two were at and sigh. Satan wanted to study and you agreed thinking time would pass by faster but it has been agonizingly long. You look at him then grin plotting to yourself. You suddenly lean over to him and whisper "this study session is going amazing thank you for helping me Luci~" you say then pull away. Before you could even get properly comfortable he suddenly grabs your chair and pushes it completely against his and he whispered back near your ear "My name isn't Lucifer." And he pulls away like he didn't just hotly whisper into your ear this time you flush and return to what you're doing while he grins in triumph at winning your game.
Asmos
You were following behind him carrying bags upon bags of asmos stuff. He went on a small shopping spree yeah what a lie that was. He was going on about some products when you decided to tease him a bit. "Hey Mammon greedy much" you say. He turns to you and huffs "I am nothing like that idiot don't compare us ever again" he says with a pout. You just roll your eyes "I was joking...kind of"
Beel
You sat on his bed scrolling through your phone as he finished a workout beside you on the floor. You see some ad for a matching pillow and blanket and you turn to show him. "Hey belphie look at- oh im sorry" you quickly retaliate genuinely mismatching their names. Beel just smiled at you he loved his sibling dearly that it didn't even faze him. "It's alright MC now let me look" he says getting up
Belphie
You laid on the couch with belphie's head in your lap and let your fingers glide through his surprisingly soft hair. You thought he was asleep when you suddenly stated "you are so adorable Luke" you suddenly say. He immediately opens his eyes and suddenly pinches your thigh. "Not a dog." He mumbled out. You yell at him for pinching you then sigh "yeah more like a baby" you huff deciding not to say another person's name.

Chapter 4: February
Tumblr media
☾ Pairings ➼ Levi Ackerman x fem!mute!Reader (she/her pronouns), set in a modern semi-fictional world
☾ Summary ➼ Due to childhood trauma, you find yourself an adult without the ability to speak. After years of working on it, you have found ways to live without a voice. Now here in your late 20s, you are 5 months in getting used to a new town. On a fateful day in late November, you and your adopted sister visit a local bookstore-café, unaware of the friendships about to blossom. Throughout the months, one friendship in particular develops into something more.
☾ Content/Warnings ➼ fluff, slowburn, oblivious feelings, angst, mention of minor character deaths, trauma, illness, adoption, mentions of fire, disabilities, alcohol use, very light nsfw mentions, references to child abuse (to be continued as writing is ongoing)
☾ Author's note ➼ Hey guys! Happy (early) Valentine's Day! This would have been out much earlier but I figured since it's February, I would actually release it near the holiday the chapter is actually about. I'm so excited to finally release this into the wild! I'm in the process of working on March but I might take a break to work on some fluffy drabbles/one-shots because tis the season! I'll be back soon with more!
☾ Word Count ➼ ~8.5k (this one is even longer and I'm not even sorry about it)
Tumblr media
Your bedroom floor is littered with piles of the clothes you spent the last hour trying on then discarding out of dissatisfaction. You and Hange were expecting company soon and you were standing in just your undergarments while staring into your almost empty closet in disdain. It felt as if you were 17 again, freaking out the morning before a school day because you were not comfortable with any of the fabrics in your wardrobe. You throw your hands up in the air and exhale loudly, thinking to yourself of how hopeless this endeavor was.
With people coming over, you wanted to try and dress up a bit. But in frustration, you opt for your usual wear of jeans and a baggy pullover sweater. Pulling your hair up in two little buns, you just grunt in acceptance. At least you were comfortable, which is the most important factor here. After slipping on a mismatched pair of socks, you pad back into the living room where Hange sat on the floor milling around on her work laptop.
‘Working again?’ You sign at them while passing them to the kitchen. You open a cupboard for a can of black tea. You were told Levi was coming over for the get together and you wanted to make sure there was tea ready. For everyone, of course, not just Levi. Or so you keep telling yourself.
“Just finishing up a couple documents is all. Did you make sure that we had the ingredients for the cookies today?” They mumble from behind the screen, their fingers zooming over the keyboard as they speak. Their eyes flick up at you as you sign a quick yes and they nod in response, shoving their face back into their reports.
You make quick work of the electric tea kettle, pushing the button to get the water boiling before tossing in a couple teaspoons of loose leaves in your favorite teapot. It was a gift from your foster-parents many years ago and it had golden bunnies hopping around on a light teal background. After the kettle shuts itself off, you pour the water into the teapot to steep then place the lid on top gently.
You then set forth to make sure your wipe-off board had fully stocked markers for tonight, placing them on the kitchen bar for you to reach easily. Texting might be faster, but a wipe-off board served better with a crowd of people so everyone could see what you were saying. When you’re satisfied with everything, you then turn to Hange.
It was past two in the afternoon, and they were still in their pajamas with a rat’s nest in place of their hair. Company was due soon and she was still tapping away, so you go up behind them and place your hands on their shoulders gently. She hums in response, not turning to you. You lean forward and place a hand on the laptop, and she stops. They cock their head up to look at you and their glasses glint off the afternoon sun coming through the dining room window. You furrow your brows at them and scrunch your nose.
“Can I help you?” She asks. Nodding, you release your hands to sign to her.
‘You need a shower.’ She purses her lips and averts her gaze.
“I have time, let me just finish this report first.”
‘No, shower first and then come back to this.’
“But-” You cut them off by pinching her cheek, not hard enough to bruise but enough to leave a mark.
‘Don’t make me throw you in the bath, you know I’ll do it.’ You smirk while raising an eyebrow at them. You’re met with an eyeroll, but she saves her work before shutting her laptop anyways. You kiss her forehead from above and then move back so they can stand up.
‘Thanks, don’t forget to wash your ass.’ You laugh silently and she just gives you a disgusted look before heading into her room, laptop under her arm. She flips you a bird before disappearing behind her door. You grin at yourself and then head back to the kitchen to set out some butter to soften.
For Valentine’s Day this year, Hange decided to throw a little party at your shared apartment. You just wanted to bake and watch stupid movies together, but they talked you into socializing. She had said something about today not being just for couples. She wanted to “celebrate singleness”, her words not yours. So of course, you were roped in because honestly, where else would you have to be? But that also meant she had invited quite a few people as well; a few coworkers and Erwin. And with Erwin, the invitation had spread to Miche and Levi. The latter of which you were excited for, no matter how much you told yourself it wasn’t such a big deal.
You smile at how close you and Levi had gotten in the past couple weeks, getting to know each other a little more as the days passed. It mainly consisted of texting each other little things you thought you’d both like or little hangouts at the café after hours. The café meetings were not anything new, of course, but they had a vastly different atmosphere than before. You chalk it up to the friendlier nature and usage of more words around each other.
You preoccupy yourself by pulling out the rest of the necessary ingredients and dishes needed for your baking adventure. One of the compromises Hange had made with you was the allowance of being able to still make your checkerboard cookies regardless of the plans. It was something you had picked up in the last couple years and it quickly became one of your favorite traditions. Hange did not refuse, which you think is mainly because she loved your baked goods and was looking forward to shoving them in her mouth. With that thought, you pull out another stick of butter to make a double batch just in case.
After a while, you place your hands on your hips and nod your head in satisfaction. Your ears pick up the sound of squeaking floorboards coming from Hange’s bedroom which signaled that she had finished bathing. Another noise comes from the front door with someone rapping on the hardwood. When you glance at the clock on the stove, it reads 2:47. Someone was a little early, you think to yourself as you saunter up to the door.
Pulling it open, you’re met with a smiling Erwin holding a small bundle of flowers and a bottle of wine. Miche flanks him with a box of canned beer under one arm, his other out to give you a hug which you run into instantly, making sure to do the same with Erwin. In the last month since their dinner party, it wasn’t just Levi you had gotten close to.
While you were already pretty comfortable with Erwin through your sister, Miche was a confidant you hadn’t expected to have. Throughout the passing days, you found that he was as technologically competent as he was as good of a chef. When he wasn’t behind a computer screen, he was often found sending you obscure recipes through late night text messages that he wanted to try with you.
‘I’m so glad you two could make it!’ You sign to them ecstatically, breaking out into a grin.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Erwin chirps as he winks down at you.
Taking a step back, you lead them through the door with your hand. You peep a quick glance behind them to make sure there was no one else coming. To your disappointment, there wasn’t. You shut the door behind the two men with a sigh. Hange must have talked to them beforehand about the apartment rules because they were quick to pull their shoes off at the door before walking more into the apartment.
You follow them into the living room as you check your phone. No new messages. You had sent Levi a text earlier this morning to see if he was planning to make it, but he had not responded. So, when Erwin places the flowers and wine down on the kitchen counter, you step up next to him to get his attention.
‘Thank you so much for bringing these.’ You hesitate for a moment as he looks down at you patiently. ‘Is Levi still coming?’ You stare up into his bright eyes, his lips twitching in amusement at your question.
“Yes, he is just running a little behind. He had a stop to make before making his way here.” He pats your head and you just blush. But you feel immensely better, knowing that Levi was coming for certain. To not waste the tea you’ve made, of course, you remind yourself. You grab the bouquet of flowers and take a big whiff of them, relishing the sweet scent.
Bending down into a counter beneath you, you grab a vase and get to work trimming the stems so you can place it on the dinner table. Miche is quick to place a couple of his beers in the fridge along with the wine Erwin brought so they would be cold for later.
‘What kind of beer did you bring?’ You sign towards Miche, Erwin translating for you.
“Oh, definitely not something you would like, even if you did drink. I saw it at the store and had to try it though. There’s peanut butter in it apparently.” Miche tilts his head towards the fridge. You make a grimace at him, and he chuckles.
“Hange had said to BYOB but I can’t imagine just having beer would be great, so I elected for something sweeter.” Erwin furrows his eyebrows at the very idea.
‘You do know BYOB doesn’t just mean beer, right? It’s just a figure of speech.’
“Wait, really?”
Just then, Hange comes out sporting a towel wrapped on their head as well as a t-shirt and jeans. They chose to go for the comfortable yet casual look too. She grins widely at the new company and runs to give them both a big hug as well.
“You guys made it!” She shrieks.
“We told you we would.” Erwin’s deep timbre responds back nonchalantly.
“Yeah yeah, but I still worried I ran you off with how much I talked about it. We’re going to have so much fun today!” Hange starts chattering away about the plans she had made for everyone. You giggle to yourself as you listen to them talk excitedly.
Since you weren’t one for alcohol, you always ended up as the mom for everyone, doubly so for your sister. She may be 5 years older than you, but you always felt like more of the responsible one. You didn’t mind it though. You figured it was a good payoff for everything else she does for you on a daily basis. Suddenly, another knock from the front door echoes down the hall and you’re quick to throw the metal bowl you just grabbed from the shelf down onto the counter before running to see who it is.
Much to your dismay, it’s not Levi. When you pull open the door, you see three people; Moblit Berner being one of them, whom you have seen many times since your move here. Hange’s coworkers are all carrying their own vice for tonight in their arms.
You give them a small smile in welcome and Moblit offers a friendly one in return. The two companions behind him consist of Nanaba, someone you have only met twice in passing, and another man, someone you have never seen before. You eyeball him apprehensively as you wave to Nanaba in hello, to which she does the same in response.
“Oh yeah, Onyankopon,” Moblit turns his head over his shoulder to refer to the man. “This is Hange’s little sister.” He says kindly. You wave at the stranger, still wary. The man named Onyankopon is very tall and broad chested with a crew cut that faded up his head. He gives you a big smile that warms up his entire face and speaks to you in a velvety tone.
“It’s nice to officially meet you. You know, your sister talks a lot about you.” His chocolate eyes are even warmer than his demeanor, and you can’t help but grin back at him with a blush, deciding he was okay. You side-step so they can funnel into the door. Your eyes linger down the hallway without meaning to, hoping to see a raven-haired man stalking up to the door. But it remained empty, so you shut it with another sigh and turn back to the ever-growing crowded apartment.
The company sat in various places in the living room while idle chatter filled the space. Some even opted for the floor, Hange being one of them. After a while, you had to remind your sister to take off the towel she had wrapped around her head because she was so engrossed in her conversation that she didn’t even notice it. It had dried for so long that her hair was even more frazzled than before. You just shook your head at her in amusement.
You make yourself busy with the cookies while everyone converses, the noise turning into buzzing. The living room was so cramped with bodies that you could barely breathe, so you found great solace in the kitchen. At this point you had donned on an apron that had floral designs vining their way to the top. It was an attempt to keep the inevitable mess from splattering on to you. While you loved to cook and bake, you were not neat about it in any capacity, but you found that to be the fun of it.
After turning the mixing bowl on to blend the sugar and butter, you turn to your now cold teapot and sigh. It had gone cold, but you hate to waste it; you decide to pour it into a sealable cup to make iced tea with it later.
You start to juggle the choices of either starting a new pot now or waiting until everyone has arrived when your ears perk up at another knock at the door. Your heart now racing at who it could be, you stare out to the living room over the half wall to see if anyone heard but no one had even turned their head. You shut off the mixer then wipe your hands on your apron as you make your way to the door. Taking a deep breath, you pull it open effortlessly.
You can’t keep your face from breaking out into a grin when your eyes fall on the short man with a deadpan expression standing in front of you. Levi. Furlan is there as well, waving at you from behind his friend. You mouth a ‘Hi’ to them both, barely containing the giddiness from the present company.
“Sorry we’re late. Not only did this jerk decide he was tagging along, but he also spent an ungodly amount of time getting ready.” Levi’s gruff voice speaks out to you as he tips his head to Furlan. You meet his soft gaze, and he winks playfully. Levi was wearing a snug, black long sleeve with even darker denim jeans. Your stomach flips as you force yourself to stare into Levi’s metallic eyes.
Waving them in the door, they follow suit and take their shoes off to place next to the pile already sitting by the door. Levi scoffs, no doubt annoyed by the messiness. You’re suddenly hyper aware of how dirty the apartment must look compared to his. After shutting the door behind them, you spin around and almost run right into Levi. You gasp in surprise and step back right into the door with a ‘thud’. Furlan was long gone, and you can hear his playful voice reverberating down the hall as he introduced himself to the rest of the company.
“Are you okay?” Levi asks, concern lacing into his deep voice. You laugh at yourself silently as he eyes you carefully. You nod and wave your hands dismissively at him to show you were indeed okay.
“Mm. I bought these for tonight. Where can I put them?” He shifts three large bottles of various sodas in his arms in awkwardness. His eyes avert from you as he speaks. You stare stunned for a moment as you realize he must have bought them specifically for you. Noticing you haven’t moved, his eyes shift back up to you with an eyebrow raised. Cracking a smile, you nod. The flips in your stomach hardly cease as you tip your head forward to signify where the kitchen was, passing him as well to lead the way.
After he places the bottles in the fridge, he closes the doors, and his eyes widen in surprise at the mess before him. You being you, there was flour everywhere and butter wrappers lie discarded by the mixer. Said mixer was surrounded by sugar from when you missed the bowl earlier. You look away sheepishly as you feel a hard stare at your face.
“Are you a toddler?” He asks, but there is no malice. It almost sounded as if he was amused.
Grabbing one of the wipe-off boards you placed in the kitchen earlier, you pop off a cap and start scrawling. 'Maybe.' Flipping it over to him with a shrug, you see the corners of his mouth twitch.
'Tea?' You point to your cluttered tea station. Levi turns to see an open tin of tea leaves and an empty kettle. He says nothing as he gets to work, doing it all before you can do anything. You gawk at his deft hands as he makes quick work of it all, like he was back in his cafe. Some of his hair fell in his face as his head hung low in focus. After gently placing the porcelain lid back on the pot, he turns back to you.
'You didn't have to do that, you know. I was mainly asking so I could start it.'
"Tch, I was already here. Besides, I'm probably faster at it." You can't argue on that, so you just shrug your shoulders at him again with a slight smile. He leans back against the kitchen counter and studies your face, and you feel your face bloom in heat. You place the board back down on the counter and point to your mess to show you were going to start back on the cookies. Tightening your hair buns, you then wash your hands and get back to work on the mixer, throwing in the ingredients as needed.
After a moment, you hear something rustling behind you and when you glance to the source, you see Levi pulling on the other apron that hung off the fridge. You stare at him curiously and he just tightens the drawstrings behind him as he meets your gaze.
"I'm helping." You hesitate but scoot over in response, and he steps up next to you. Your arms are almost touching, and it takes everything inside of you not to combust. So, you both get to work like that, side by side. The sounds of chatter and laughter from the rest of the group fade out as you both concentrate. You hand him the rest of the ingredients and he carefully pours them in the bowl. When everything is incorporated and set aside, you then measure out the other ingredients for the chocolate portion of the cookies. You don’t see it, but Levi just watches you patiently, admiring your meticulous yet messy way of making sure everything is accurate. When you glance up at him, he looks away quickly.
"Whatcha two up to?" A sly voice rings out after a while. Startled, you both jerk your heads up from the tray you two were placing raw dough cutouts on. It's Hange, leaning on the wall with their chin cradled in two cupped hands. They have a very cheeky grin plastering their face.
"What does it look like, Four-Eyes?" Levi snaps back dryly.
"Well, since you're asking me. It looks like you two are having fun." They wiggle their eyebrows at you and Levi just scoffs and averts his gaze. Your cheeks flare up again because you were definitely having fun, but you weren’t going to admit that. Hange tuts at you two and reaches over to pat you on the head lovingly.
"I just came over because you were both ignoring our calls." Looking over their shoulder, you see Erwin eyeballing you and Levi with a raised eyebrow. He takes a sip of his drink and looks away to keep talking to Moblit and Onyankopon. Nanaba, Furlan, and Miche broke out a deck of cards and are in the middle of a game of Poker.
'Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.' You sign to her, frowning.
"No worries, we were just wondering if you guys were hungry. We were thinking of pizza!" They clap their hands excitedly. They were always thinking of pizza, you laugh to yourself. Hange loves pizza so much that even the mere mention of its cheesy goodness would summon them right then and there. Your stomach rumbles just thinking about it as well, so you nod.
"I could eat." Levi states as he lifts his teacup to his lips, three fingertips on the rim. Him doing so reminds you of the cup Levi had poured for you that you had left to get cold. You lightly touch the sides of it, and it still feels warm. As you take a sip, you’re hit with the boldness of the leaf blend you had chosen as well as a perfect amount of sweetness. ‘Levi makes the best tea’, you think to yourself.
"Perfect, I'll get those ordered. We'll just stick to the basics, yeah?" She pulls out her phone and starts dialing the nearest pizza place while walking away to join everyone in the living room. Levi picks up the couple of trays filled with raw cookies and slides them into the pre-heated oven. When he turns around, you can't help but silently chuckle as you take a closer look at his face for the first time since you both started your venture.
There is a streak of cocoa powder on his forehead that starkly contrasts on his pale skin. You point to it and your shoulders bounce in silent laughter as he brings a hand up to it to rub the spot. His eyes go wide as he notices the brown powder that is now staining his fingers. He grabs the towel you had draped over the dishwasher to wipe it away, his ears turning pink. He turns away from you as he does.
You eye Levi as he folds the towel neatly and puts it back where he got it from, huffing under his breath. He then starts gathering the dirty dishes and piles them into the sink, tugging on the faucet to rinse them off. While he's busy on that, you begin wiping down the counters with a wet rag. Levi gives you a side-eye and you meet his gaze, giving him a warm smile. He looks away again to focus on a bowl he was currently spraying with hot water. As you stare at him for a second longer, you can’t help but think how well you two worked together.
You grab the board once more and write, ‘Thank you for your help. (:’ before flipping the board over to Levi as he dries his hands on the towel. His eyes trail the words, and he glances up at you with indifference.
“Mm.” He hums. His eyes flick over to the timer that was set on the stove as he leans back against the sink and takes another sip of his tea. The cookies had eight minutes left. It almost felt as if he was reading your mind because neither of you moved with the intention leaving the calm kitchen. When you look over to the living space, you see everyone talking over each other in lively conversation. Onyankopon is pointing at the small fish tank that sat nestled in the corner of the room as he shouts over to Hange, who is in the middle of cleaning off the coffee table.
“Hange, I didn’t know you had fish.” He bends down to take a closer look at the two little fish darting around shifting plants.
“Oh yes, they’re my little babies!” She stands straight up and jumps over to the tank and continues as she points at the respective tetras. “This one is Sonny and this one is Bean!” You can’t help but chuckle internally at your over enthusiastic sister. Ever since you both moved to Jinae, Hange really wanted pets. They had requested a dog, but they were too overwhelming for you. She wasn’t really around enough to be able to spend time with them anyways which meant most of it would fall on to you and you weren’t okay with that. So, you both compromised on her getting a couple fish to start out with and would think about the notion again later. Thus far, Hange has been very content with them and hasn’t asked for anything else.
“They’re gorgeous, Hange.” Onyankopon compliments as he stares at the tank. Hange slaps him on the shoulder in appreciation and starts rambling off the reasons why she chose tetras and all the research she did on them.
“That’s it, boys. I win!” Nanaba shouts from the dining table, slamming her cards onto the hard surface. Furlan and Miche groan in frustration, the latter rubbing his face in exhaustion.
“I swear you’re cheating.” Furlan sits back in his chair as he places his own hand down.
“I second that.” Miche leans over to stare at her cards and just sighs. Dejected, he gets up and wanders towards the bathroom, almost running into Erwin as he emerges from that same direction.
“C’mon guys, at least I vetoed any betting.” She calls out, smirking as she piles the cards up and starts shuffling them.
“You just did that out of pity.” Nanaba just cackles maniacally at Furlan’s dispirited comment.
“Hange, there are too many men in here.” She twists in her chair to face your sister who turns to acknowledge Nanaba’s complaint.
“Psh, I’ll drink to that.” And she does, holding her drink up in cheers and takes a big gulp. You roll your eyes, but you agree. There were way too many men in your apartment right now. Just then, there’s a knock at the door and Hange stands up quickly, face alert like a meerkat in the African wilderness.
“Pizza!” They yell and then they’re off to the front door, a wad of cash in hand.
At the same time, the timer goes off with a soft beeping and you’re quick to grab the oven mitts to pull the trays out. You gingerly place the trays on the stovetop to let them cool and Levi reaches past you to turn off the oven, his face in your periphery as you glance to the side. His movements waft his scent straight into your nose and you find yourself breathing it in deeply. He smelled of clean laundry with a hint of body wash. It isn’t overpowering in the slightest and you revel in it.
“You two are missing out on the fun cooping up in here.” Someone speaks out behind you two as they walk through the archway to the kitchen. You both jump at the voice and turn to see Erwin holding an armful of empty alcohol containers.
“Tch, it beats being surrounded by a bunch of loud mouths.” Levi counters, turning back to the cookies to inspect them. You reach over to grab the trash can and hold it up to Erwin for him to dump the trash. Hange comes in behind him and places four stacked pizza boxes on the counter next to you. You stare at your sister in awe and sign, ‘That’s a lot of pizza.’
“I know but I didn’t know how hungry everyone was. Besides! Leftovers.” They give another cheeky grin, and you just playfully punch her arm. Reaching up in the cupboard behind you, you grab a handful of plates for everyone as well a cup for you, now realizing how parched your throat was.
“Oi, grab me one too.” Levi asks next to you, so you grab another after setting what you held down first. When you turn to hand it to him, he’s a lot closer than you expected and accidentally hit him in the side of the head with the glass in hand. He doesn’t even flinch. He’s looking up at you with knit eyebrows and a thin line in place of his lips.
“Ow.” You hear Erwin and Hange stifling laughter as they organize the pizza boxes.
You set the cup down and start signing frantically, ‘I’m sorry.’ over and over again. You place both of your hands on his face and tilt it so you could get a better look at the spot where you hit him, filled with relief when you find no visible damage. You’re in such a panic that you don’t even notice his stunned disposition. Your hands feel so warm against his cool skin, and it’s so soft. You realize what you’re doing after a moment and let your arms drop to your side, mouthing an apology and stepping away from him.
“It’s fine. I didn’t realize how long your arms were.” He mumbles as he walks over to the fridge without another word, cup in one hand, his other pressing against the spot where you smacked him. How long your arms were? That was such a weird thing to say. Flustered, you grab the plates and shuffle them over to the counter with the pizza. Now that they have opened the boxes, you get a closer look at the options.
There were a couple cheeses, one pepperoni, and one pineapple. Your eyes light up and you gaze at Hange with adoration, forgetting what just happened mere moments ago. They wink at you then call for everyone to plate up ‘while it’s hot’.
Yes, you ate pineapple on your pizza. It first began as a joke just to spite those who turned it down, but then you found out you actually enjoyed the taste. There was something about the sweet and savory flavors that blended perfectly.
Levi comes over with two glasses and hands one with what looked to be a dark cola to you. You mouth a ‘thank you’ as you watch his face twist in disgust as he eyes the boxes in front of him. “Are those pineapples?” Levi leans in for a better look, eyebrows knit.
“Pineapples?!” Furlan rushes over from the table to look at the pizza, the new poker game forgotten. “Alright, who’s the one who asked for them?” He looks around the room and spots you with your hand raised in the air.
“Oh my gosh I could hug you right now. Pineapple on pizza is the best!” He exclaims. He leans over the half wall to marvel at it and then looks back up to you with a massive smile. Levi clicks his tongue and grabs a slice out of the cheese box then makes his way into the living room. You can’t help but feel sad at the sudden absence.
.
“Okay, okay. My turn. Hange. Your obsession with zombies, what the fuck is up with that?” Nanaba leans on the coffee table in anticipation. Your sister just cackles and sits up straight as they push their glasses up their nose with a finger. There’s a glimmer in their eyes.
“That’s hardly a difficult question. I grew up watching zombie movies and I just need to know how they tick. Like what kind of sorcery goes into making them do the things they do?!”
“Hange, they’re fictional creatures, there’s no science that could ever explain that!” Moblit shouts from next to her, exhausted. Hange just laughs and goes on a tangent about possible ways to make and cure zombies, but you zone out as it’s a conversation you have had with them for many years. Looking around the table, you smile to yourself. Tonight has been such a fulfilling evening for you. Being around familiar faces as well as getting to know new ones brought more joy to you than you expected. Not to mention this ridiculous game you were all playing that made your face ache from laughter.
Miche had come up with a game called “What the fuck is up with that?” as a way to wind down from such a big dinner. Players ask someone something personal about their life and follow it with ‘what the fuck is up with that?’ and if they refuse to answer it, they have to take a drink. It honestly felt like a more cracked version of “Truth or Dare” but it was fun, nonetheless. You, of course, nursed soda in your hands instead of alcohol so you were the most sober one here.
So far, no one was really trashed. Tipsy, definitely; There were some words that were starting to slur. What surprised you the most was Levi’s soberness in comparison to everyone else considering how many times he had to take a drink. It figures that any questions directed to him, he opted for silence. You do, however, notice his cheeks were ever so slightly flushed when you glance at him next to you. He radiated an aura of relaxation, which you can’t help but assume is a rare thing for him. He turns to meet your gaze, not looking away after what felt like a good minute.
“Okay okay, we get it Hange. Enough!” Your attention is snapped back into the present company, and you break eye contact to see Onyankopon laughing and throwing a balled-up napkin at Hange’s face to shut her up.
“Fine, sorry! Hmm…” Their eyes wander on the people sitting in the circle with them until they land on Furlan’s face. “Alright, Furlan. You! You’re single and you’re extremely attractive. What the fuck is up with that?” Everyone’s attention shifts to Furlan’s bright red face.
“What the fuck is up with the singleness or the attractiveness?” His voice sounds an octave higher.
“Well, both, obviously, dumbass.” Nanaba pitches in.
“I well. Uh.” His eyes flicker to yours and then look away just as quickly. “I just haven’t found what I was looking for yet, I guess. And for the attractiveness, I just am?” He shrugs his shoulders and laughs nervously. He takes a sip of his drink anyways as he averts his gaze to anything but the people in front of him.
“Hmmm. I don’t know if I’m okay with that answer, but I’ll let it slide. Okay, you pick the next one!”
“Oh okay, uhh.” His eyes travel around until they lock eyes with you again. “The berry nickname. What the fuck is up with that?” Everyone’s gaze now shifts on you. You realize that Hange had called you her ‘little berry’ in front of everyone but had never really given an explanation. You bite your bottom lip and start scrawling on your board. Everyone waits for you patiently and a wave of gratitude washes over you. They really were a great group of friends.
‘When I was younger, I used to steal Hange’s berries from their parfaits.’ You flip the board, and everyone is silent as they read. They burst into laughter one by one, Hange included. Even Levi’s scarred mouth has an upturn. You couldn’t give the full story because it would be too long for you to write, but growing up in the foster system meant you were deprived of a lot of good things, one of those being fresh fruit. So, when the night came when the Zoe’s officially adopted you and they wanted to celebrate with parfaits, you went absolutely feral. You had never tasted anything like fresh berries before and they quickly became your favorite thing in the world, next to your sister of course.
“You guys should have seen her for the month after that. All she wanted was berries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She prefers strawberries, but we don’t discriminate here. All berries are valid!” She yells, taking another sip of her drink. You laugh silently along with them and start thinking of the next victim. After a few moments, you scribble down what was on your mind. Then you point to Erwin and his eyes bulge at the sudden movement but straightens up anyways, clearing his throat.
‘So Erwin, I notice you’ve been taking my sister out for drinks quite often. Your relationship with them, what the fuck is up with that?” You smile innocently at your sister’s composed face.
“Psh, easy.” He pats your sister on the head and Hange just laughs in response, swatting at it. “You of all people know how fun she is to be around. More so when she’s drunk. She’s a great karaoke partner.” They clink the bottles they had in their hands together and smile at each other. You furrow your eyebrows and stick your tongue out.
‘Boooooooo.’ You write and your sister just shoves your shoulder.
“C’mon, you can’t seriously think there’s anything happening between this,” Hange wiggles their index finger in between her and Erwin. “Like really. We’re definitely not each other’s type.”
Miche snorts and mutters something under his breath but you can’t hear the words. Erwin chuckles and nods in agreement then takes another sip of his drink as he surveys the faces in front of him. They land on Levi and his gray eyes bore into Erwin’s crystal blue.
“Hey Levi…” Erwin has a smirk playing on his lips as he stares at his best friend. “I notice you’ve been smiling when you look down at your phone recently. What the fuck is up with that?” Erwin’s eyes sparkle mischievously. Levi just scoffs but you gawk at him with wide eyes, along with Furlan and Hange. Levi doesn’t smile. Sure, you can always tell when he’s fighting it. But you’ve never seen his curt demeanor break into joy.
Levi narrows his eyes on Erwin then answers with a big swig of his glass, finishing off the contents in it as he continues to stare at his friend. Levi’s face is certainly more flushed than before, the tips of his ears bright red as well. He looks away, refusing to meet anyone’s eyes.
“Booooooo!” Hange echoes what you had exclaimed earlier.
“Leeeeeviiii! Are you talking with someone?! I thought you were mine.” Furlan pouts, arms crossed.
“It’s none of your goddamn business.” Levi’s voice is brusque. He gets up from his spot quickly and takes his empty glass to the kitchen.
“What do you mean? I think your friends deserve to know.” Hange sits up on their knees to call over to Levi’s backside.
“Then we’re not friends.” He says and disappears down the hall to the bathroom.
“Is he always like that?” Nanaba questions as she finishes her own drink as she stares down the hallway.
“Yes, it’s very normal for him.” Erwin states matter-of-factly, chuckling at the rise he got from Levi.
“Short and angry. It’s quite the combo.” Onyankopon cuts in, grinning.
You fidget with the wipe-off marker as you think about how he reacted. It wasn’t very surprising to you. Levi is a very private man when it comes to such things. All of the conversations you had with him were still on a fundamental surface layer. You knew better than to ask anything deeper for fear of him shutting you out, like he just did with Erwin’s question. Levi, at least, didn’t sound angry right now, but you suspect it was because it was someone so close to him asking such a question. If it was you… then. Well, you were scared of what he might do from such an intimate question.
“Yanno what, it’s probably about that time I head out. It’s getting pretty late.” Moblit chimes in as he starts to get up from his spot on the floor.
“Whaaat!? We still have one more thing left to do. Besides, it’s literally,” Hange takes a glance at the clock on the wall. “10:30. Just a little longer??” They clasp their hands as they beg, staring up at her friend.
“I must agree with Moblit here, we need to submit our report before the end of this week.” Onyankopon replies as he gets up as well. He squeezes Hange’s shoulder as he speaks with a slight smile. Hange sticks her bottom lip out.
“Fine, fine. But just know, you’re missing out on only the greatest tradition ever: Making fun of stupid romance movies.”
“I wanna do that!” Nanaba cuts in, laughing at the idea.
“Nanaba, we’re literally your ride home.” Moblit calls out from the dining room as he pulls on his winter jacket. Grabbing Nanaba’s as well, he makes sure to pick up the deck of cards they brought and shoves it into her jacket pocket.
“Boo.” She gets up clumsily and huffs. “You two are no fun.”
“What she said.” Hange says, sticking her tongue out again.
“Seriously though, Hange. Great party. We had a really good time.” Onyankopon compliments as he zips up his own coat. At this point, everyone is standing up as they talk to each other. You glance over and notice that Miche is getting ready to leave too.
‘You’re going too?’ You scrawl to him quickly.
“Ah yes, unfortunately IT never takes a break.” He mutters to you solemnly as you go in to give him a tight hug. “Are we still on for next Wednesday?” You nod at him with a cheerful grin. “Great, I’ll see you then.” He ruffles your hair and walks past to say goodbye to everyone else.
After a few more goodbyes, it’s just you, Hange, Erwin, and Furlan standing in the living room. Your sister and Erwin were conversing about what movie to watch as Furlan shuffles up next to you. Levi still hadn’t come out of the bathroom yet.
“I bet he’s taking a shit.” His blasé statement makes you giggle uncontrollably, your shoulders shaking as you do. You hold your hand to your mouth to compose yourself as you give Furlan such a bewildered look. He just winks at you.
“Furlan, I’m going to kick your ass.” Levi’s sharp voice cuts in behind you both and it makes you both jump.
“Hey now, I was just kidding.” Furlan’s voice wavers as he takes a step back. You wave at Levi with a warm smile, but he just averts his gaze and goes to sit down on the sofa, one leg crossed on his knee. Biting your cheek, you go and find a spot on the floor, making sure to put a pillow under your butt for comfort. Hange and Erwin are flicking through a bunch of streaming apps trying to find the chosen movie for tonight.
“Ah okay, I know what we’re doing!” Hange slaps their hands together in finality. Erwin makes his way to the armchair and sits back with a heavy sigh.
“Not my first choice.” He says, pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers.
“Oh c’mon. Everything about it screams bad romance. Plus, it’s the worst out of all of them.”
“Hange, you never cease to amaze me.” Furlan states as he takes the spot next to Levi.
Twilight: New Moon? Really? In your heart of hearts, you couldn’t completely hate Twilight as you were practically obsessed with it in your late teens. But you had to agree, it wasn’t the best out of the five films. It’s like Hange knew what you were thinking because they stare directly into your eyes and wiggle their eyebrows at you teasingly. You roll your eyes, and she chuckles.
“Move it, sis. I’m going for the spot behind you.” Hange slips past you to sit on the couch right next to Levi’s other side. You back up so you’re sandwiched in between Hange’s legs, and you yawn with the added warmth. You had a fleeting thought of not being able to finish the movie before falling asleep. How right you were. You don’t even make it past Bella’s dream sequence, drifting off into your own little world. The smell of clean laundry and musky body wash permeates your senses as you do.
.
Levi isn’t even paying attention to the movie. Even if it was something he was interested in, his focus could not be kept on the screen. Levi felt like his heart was about to burst out of his chest as he felt the weight of you leaning against his bad leg. Your soft cheek pressed into his knee while you slept soundly. His joints have been aching for the last hour, but he would sooner touch fire before disturbing you. He couldn’t see your face very well from this angle, but he could only assume how peaceful you looked right now. Your hair is still in buns, but they were much messier than before from the activities of the day, hair falling every which way.
As you sighed softly in your sleep, his mind raced with everything that had happened today. From the ecstatic look in your eyes when you opened the front door to when you had gently cradled his head in your warm hands after hitting him on accident, making sure you didn’t hurt him. He still felt tingles of your touch shooting through his nervous system from that. And making cookies with you, he had more fun than he could admit. You were so meticulous and careful, albeit chaotic in your ways. He found it so endearing.
Then that damn Erwin asking that stupid question. Erwin knew and still egged him on. Of course, it was you; you were the reason why his heart and stomach did flips whenever he heard his phone vibrate. He wouldn’t allow anyone to know that though, especially you. Not when you already seem so entwined in other people’s lives.
Levi hadn’t missed Furlan’s interest in you. His longtime friend often stated that he wanted to get to know you even more. Not to mention Furlan’s tactless ways of wanting to include you in everything he made plans to do. It seemed as if you weren’t aware of his intentions though, so maybe he wasn’t clear enough. Levi hopes you never pick up on it.
And of course, there was Miche. What kind of relationship did you have with him? Levi didn’t mishear how you had plans with him next week. And the intimate touching? What was that all about? The relationship with Miche did not seem romantic from his viewpoint, but then again.
Levi was never the jealous type, or so he thought. He found that any attention aimed at you ruffled him. What about you made him feel like this? He scoffs under his breath, not able to look away from the back of your head. Hange stops munching on the cookie in her hands and turns at the sound, now noticing you fast asleep on Levi’s knee.
“Want me to take her for you?” They whisper to Levi, shifting to stand up.
“No, it’s fine. I don’t want you to miss out on prime Eduardo and Beatrice or whoever the fuck these people are.” Levi waves his hand dismissively and carefully gets up, making sure to move your head so it doesn’t flop forward. “Which one is her room?” He asks as he stares down at Hange. They regard him in curiosity but smile regardless.
“The door with the sakuras on them.” Levi nods and bends down to effortlessly pick you up despite his smaller frame, cradling you as your head falls back. You’re deeply asleep at this point, he assumes, because you make no motion from the disturbance. Levi feels the stares from Furlan and Erwin as he steps over everyone to make it to the set of bedroom doors down the hall.
As he delicately places you on your bed, he starts to pull the soft comforter up to cover you but then you shift in your sleep, making him pause. With the confirmation of your sleep-induced heavy breathing, he pulls the blanket up the rest of the way and takes a long look at your soft features. The peace that radiated off your face was something he delighted in. How beautiful you were to him.
On his way out, he steps slowly to the door, being mindful of his surroundings as he goes. He spots a couple of framed pictures that littered your cluttered desk. One catches his eye in particular; It’s a photo of when you were very young, maybe 5 or so. He takes a step forward for a closer look, minding the creaking floorboards carefully. An unsettling feeling runs cold in his veins as he recognizes the family that surrounded you as well as the house in the background. He knew that family and he knew that house, and he came to realize he knew you as well.
A flashback hits him like a brick. One of him and the boy in the photo, your brother, playing outside until the sunset. Of you yelling for him with your small voice that it was time for dinner and that he needed to come home. Of your little pigtails completely askew as you cried after falling on the gravel due to a skateboard accident from when him and your brother tried to teach you how to balance on it. Of him giving you a flower to distract you from the pain and your bleeding kneecaps. Of having to move away because his good for nothing father threatened his mom and Levi had warned him to try. Of you and your family waving goodbye as he stared from the rear window, the view of your tear-streaked face getting smaller and smaller as his mom drove away.
He had forgotten all about you, and it seemed you had forgotten about him. A breath hitches in his throat and he turns to look back at you, your face scrunched up from a dream as you pull the blankets closer. No wonder he felt compelled to you, almost like he needed to protect you. With a soft sigh, he creeps slowly to the door and slips out before shutting it close behind him.
You roll over in your sleep, sighing again, the night of the fire haunting your dreams.

List with all stories
_y/n_ = your name.
Spencer rolled into the conference room two minutes late. This prompted looks from everyone else in the room. Reid said, "Sorry I'm late." He didn't provide a reason for why he was tardy, and Hotch, standing at the front of the room said, "It's fine for once." The genius sat down and listened as the team continued to debrief. It took him a second to read over the information he had missed in his file. As the team piled into the jet, Morgan and JJ sat next to him. Reid's pants leg was lifted a little as his right leg crossed over his left. Morgan noticed his friend's mismatched socks and said, "You have a problem with your footwear this morning, Reid?" Spencer flushed. Spencer was known for having mismatched socks. It happened often, but today was an extreme example. He had one calf-length black sock on his left foot and one short white on his right. Even for Reid, this was an extreme. Spence murmured something under this breath and Morgan teased, "Come again, Reid?"
Spencer was thinking of that morning. How warm he felt in _y/n_'s arms. She had asked to be the big spoon the night before and it wasn't something Spencer had experienced before. She had crawled behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. _y/n_'s face was pressed between his shoulder blades, and he had to wonder if this was comfortable for her. He asked hesitantly, "Is this comfortable for you. _y/n_.?" She had softly hummed out a, 'Yes,' as they settled in for sleep. Spencer's insomnia lifted a bit when she was with him. It was a reprieve. And, as it turned out, this sleeping situation had seemed to ease his mind into oblivion even further. In the morning, he woke later than usual. He panicked for a moment; he was going to be late. For one second, he just stayed, seeping into the soft intimacy of the moment. It was _y/n_ that had ended up pushing him out the door, tossing two random socks in his direction. He hadn't even looked at them as he slipped them on with his loafers.
Reid's brain was momentarily back there but was pulled from the memory as his phone pinged. Spencer pulled it out of his pocket. He swiped up on his messages. As much as Derek tried not to look at the text, he was sitting just close enough and in view to see that the sender didn't have a name. There were just these emojis where a name would normally be: ❤️ 📕 🌟. This immediately Derek's interest was piqued, and he couldn't stop himself from reading the message. It was simple: just, "Stay safe out there, Spence. Love you." Morgan almost fell out of his seat. Spence had a partner! And he had been keeping it a secret from all of them? Derek had to wonder how long this had been going on. Morgan cleared his throat and said, quietly, "Reid, walk with me to the back of the jet for a minute?" Spencer followed his friend to the rear of the jet, and Derek looked at him, eyes piercing. The tall, lithe man blushed and said, "Well, I guess I've got some stuff to spill..." Derek gave a warm smile. It was nice to know that Spencer was getting care from someone. That he wasn't alone all the time in his city apartment. Derek leaned back against the small counter that housed the coffee machine and waited for Reid to speak. He was ready to listen.

Yoooo
Not sure how this goes but how about prompts #22 or #29 for levihan? Whichever inspires you more/first xD
Yoooo Koala Bear! Smut Scribbles 22: “Show me how much you need me.”
Now or Never (Part 1) (NSFW) Characters: Levi x Hange; Levi x Petra (mentioned: Mike, Nanaba, Oluo, Gunther, Eld) Word Count: 2178 words
New Year’s Eve. The city streets were swarming with visitors returning from the local shrine, heads bowed against the cold, night air. Beneath a black sky pin pricked with stars, apartment windows offered their own warm glow; a brief exhibition of the different lives within.
And in his bedroom, Levi Ackerman was rudely awoken by a foot colliding with his face.
“Ah, fuck!”
He sat upright, stifled by the stench of sweat and stale beer. It pressed in on him like a wall of heat. Gunther, who was lying upside down beside him, sprawled over onto his stomach and groaned into the mattress.
“Not sharing a bed with these guys again…” Levi decided ruefully, climbing out and standing on the carpeted floor. As soon as he had moved, Gunther swung over onto his back and stretched out his limbs like a starfish. Supposing that that was the end of the struggle, Levi stepped gingerly over Oluo and Eld who lay crumpled beneath a mismatch of covers.
Bending down to unplug his phone, Levi tapped on the screen to see no missed notifications. He hadn’t been expecting a follow up response after Petra’s brief but sincere ‘Have a great night! Can’t wait to hear all about it! See you next year :)’  And yet, he could not help but feel a sense of something… lacking. It had been a recent revelation, their progression from acquaintances to dating. Petra was a junior at the organisation where Levi worked, and best friend to the three sleeping bodies which were currently slumped in various corners of his bedroom. Whilst she had taken a trip with her family to celebrate the new year, Levi had been coerced into putting up an assortment of work and university friends after a long night of drinking. That was the thanks he got for being the only adult responsible enough to rent an apartment within walking distance of a major station.
Levi shuffled out into his hallway, towards the long through room which encompassed a lounge, diner and kitchen. Here the shutters were partially-closed to the city’s luminescence, leaving a little light to dilute the darkness. At the end of the room, the countertop was covered with beer bottles, half-drunk cups and crusted plates. Levi’s sofa was swaddled in a brown, paisley blanket; Hange’s arm protruding from beneath. Nestled in the space between the sofa’s back and Levi’s bookshelves, Mike and Nanaba were sharing a single futon. She was pulled tightly to Mike’s chest, her pinkened face half-hidden in his shirt.
Awake now, despite his aching temple and bleary eyes, Levi looked towards his kitchen with grim determination. There was nothing else for it, especially since his entire array of bedclothes had been donated to his friends.
At the sink, he carefully pulled the tap on, angling it so that the spray did not hit anything noisy or metallic. Yet, someone was stirring at the sound of water. Levi turned to see Hange disentangling themself from the blanket.
“Go back to sleep…” Levi approached, keeping his voice low so as not to awake anyone else. “I got woken up, so-” At this, he gestured towards the cluttered kitchen as though this provided a comfort which sleeping no longer could.
“What, did the mess give you a nightmare?” Hange was sitting up, rubbing beneath their glasses. “Can I help?”
“No…” Levi looked doubtfully at the washing up brush he was holding. “I’m just killing time.”
“Levi, it’s-” Hange pulled out their own phone from where it had slid beneath the sofa. “-four in the morning. You can’t wash up all night. Just sleep here.” To demonstrate, they pulled back the cover. Levi hesitated, regarding the space on the sofa beside them warily.
Under other circumstances, sharing a sofa with a friend in order to catch up on some much needed sleep would not have been anything momentous. However, there was nothing normal about the circumstances between Levi and Hange. The pair of them shared a long, muddied history which began with Levi losing Hange’s number on the second day of university. Reuniting the following day had led to five years of friendship, only recently culminating in one heated episode. Three months had passed since that moment, and yet the memory of it was as fresh in Levi’s mind as though it had occurred yesterday. Unsurprising, given the amount of replays he had devoted to it. However brief, however trivial their encounter had seemed at the time, it was made worse by the fact that neither had spoken a word about it since.
Hange was beginning to rise from the sofa cushion, forcing Levi to put out his hands. Both whispered at once, each insisting that the other take the couch.
“Come on, let’s just sleep here,” Hange sighed finally. “It won’t be weird…”
Levi suffered a swooping sensation, like the sudden shock of missing a stair. It was the first time they had come close to acknowledging those reckless actions which had accidentally dented the Platonic exterior of their relationship.
“...we need to sleep. I’ll face away from you so you don’t get blasted by my bad breath!”
Levi looked hopelessly over at the washing up. His mouth felt parched and a steady pulse was throbbing behind his eyes. With a curt nod, he quickly lay down and dragged the blanket over him, as though the speed of the action would make it less controversial. The couch creaked in protest as Hange rolled over. Their body was squeezed as close to the sofa’s back as possible, affording Levi room to lie behind them.
Resting his head on the very edge of their shared pillow, Levi waited. It struck him all at once; he would never be able to sleep like this. His mind was alight like a livewire; his skin prickled. Readying himself, he half-expected Hange to speak again or turn to him without warning. Levi pressed his hands between his knees, his rigid body angled away from them. He had never felt so awake in his life. Only now it was too late to change his mind. What reason could he give for getting up? Levi could not afford to have Hange realise the extent of his awkwardness for fear it would further fracture their friendship.
Where he lay, Levi could not help but catch faint strains of coconut from Hange’s hair. It was that dry shampoo they stuffed it with whenever they resorted to survival mode; something sickly sweet but oddly comforting and familiar. Levi drew each shallow breath through clenched teeth. Beside him, Hange's chest rose and fell rhythmically whilst the air in his own lungs scorched him. It was too hot; too confined beneath this single blanket with the scent and the heat of them enveloping him. He kept his hands pressed in tightly, as though to accidentally brush against them would burn his skin. Agonising, unending torture. It pained Levi to recall how often he had swept an arm over his own cool, unwrinkled sheets, lamenting the shape of their absence; longing to have Hange lying this close to him. All those sleepless nights he wished for exactly this and now- No. Not here. He couldn’t give into those thoughts here. Those were fading memories, overwritten by the present. Now, there was Petra.
Turning his thoughts firmly to Petra, Levi felt himself begin to relax. Meanwhile, Hange was breathing deeply, blissfully unaware of his inner turmoil. Fatigue lay heavily upon Levi’s body and, as his face sank into the crumpled pillow, his eyes closed.
It was a low grunt which caused Levi to jerk awake. In the immense effort of casting off what felt like several hours of deep sleep, he tried to orientate himself. Coarse strands of hair were tickling his cheeks. He was curled on his side, pressed against something. The cotton of the pillow was gone. Levi inhaled the scent of coconut, his face nestled in the warmth of Hange’s neck. Horrified, he quickly withdrew to the very edge of the couch. The abruptness of his movements should have awoken them, and yet they lay perfectly still. Levi tensed. He could have sworn he heard a breathy chuckle and then… there was silence. For a moment, he envied them. Hange swept in and out of his life with all the passion and violence of a storm, arriving with a crash and leaving with nothing more than a whisper. What he wouldn’t give to live and love so freely…
Positioning himself with care, Levi’s head was perched at the end of the pillow; legs hung precariously over the edge of the sofa cushions. If exhaustion had not crept over him once more, inviting and unannounced, he would have given up any attempts at sleep. But Levi could no more contemplate braving the cold air outside the blanket more than he could stepping onto the cool, wooden floorboards. He gripped his hands under the pillow, and once again surrendered to rest.
Beneath his palms, the heat of their cheeks burned. Levi was cupping Hange’s face in his hands as his lips pressed theirs. Each kiss was dizzying; addictive. As he leaned into them, he felt Hange respond with increased pressure as they savoured each brush of his lips. They sank backwards, causing the makeshift bed to groan under the weight of them both. Levi was drawn out between Hange’s legs, his tongue gliding across the back of their teeth. Beneath him, Hange gasped, open-mouthed as their back arched off the thin mattress. The press of their body sent hot whips of pleasure lashing through him. Levi’s eyes rolled back as they fluttered closed. If this is how good they felt on his cock whilst fully clothed… Levi’s hips pistoned forward against them. So fucking good. His teeth grazed and pulled at their lower lip. Breathlessly, he withdrew to gaze down into Petra’s flushed, smiling face.
This time Levi awoke groggily. The thick, oppressive layer of sleep coating his mind was even more difficult to shake off than before. Outlined by a slither of street light filtering through the shutters, Levi could make out the sofa’s back and Hange’s sleeping form in front of him. His body was moulded to theirs; arms aching as he clung to their waist. Their weight rested against him, back held flush to his chest. And, still worse, he was hard. Shamefully, unbearably hard. With a sigh, Hange shifted against him. As though on instinct Levi’s body responded, hips rolling into them, sending another wave of whitehot electricity coursing through him. His eyes closed in agony; mouth filled with saliva. Levi was lost in the heat of them; wanted nothing more than to keep up that same rhythm; relish that delicious, blistering friction as it intensified… Levi moaned into their neck, loud enough to drown out Hange’s quiet gasps.
“Shit-” The cold realisation of what he was doing suddenly dawned upon him. Levi struggled to sit up. With a fluid movement, Hange turned over and caught his wrist in their hand.
“Shh!” they hissed, “Mike and Nanaba.”
Levi froze, hardly daring to draw breath. “Shit. Shit.  I…”
Half-lowering himself, Levi’s limbs stiffened. His head barely grazed the pillow. Hange’s face was so close to his own that he could feel the heat lifting from their cheeks. Levi clutched the underside of the sofa arm to prevent himself from falling.
“It’s okay,” Hange mouthed, hardly audible. “I’m not going to kiss you.”
“You’re not?”
“You sound disappointed, Levi.” He could hear quiet breath whistling down their nose. Up close their eyes appeared large and dark in the gloom. Desperately, Levi sought for a safe response amongst dozens of dangerous options, but came up empty-handed. He was seized with a need to clear his throat.
“Are you?” Hange added.
Levi’s mouth was almost too dry to speak.
“Can’t-”
“What?” Their breath was on his mouth. Their familiarity, their smell, their warmth was clouding him; pulling him under. Less than an inch stood between them; it would be too easy to close the gap. Levi knew that if he shifted only slightly, Hange would melt into him. The thought alone was enough to harden him more. It took every fibre of his resolve to remain still.
But Hange didn’t move any closer.
“Levi, we can sleep here and never talk about this again.”
Levi could hardly speak, hardly breathe as they drew towards him.
“Or… you could show me how much you need me.”
One last, star-filled night. This night. The pair of them crowded close, noses almost touching beneath an old, threadbare blanket. Here, where they were hidden from other’s eyes. This would be his only chance. It was never to be repeated again. But, it was impossible; staggering in its enormity. Either he leaned in and claimed everything he had been longing for, for five long years. Or he remained where he was; refrained from crossing a boundary that would sully two relationships held so dear to him. The course of his future lay in his decision.
And decide he did.

I ran ahead. I felt like I was passing strange streets. The ghetto turned into ruins in a few minutes. Gray, thick smoke stung the eyes. The fire raged hotter the closer I got to the main square. The tenement houses were shaking in their foundations. I shielded my head as a block of stone fell nearby. The person in front of me wasn't as lucky as me. Blood mixed with gray dust and stone fragments. So close. I took a deep breath, feeling a sob rising somewhere inside. As long as I passed the dead bodies, everything seemed unreal. But now the thought that it could be me lying here became tangible.
I once heard Zeke say that a soldier is never fully accustomed to death. It doesn't matter which battle he fights. There can always come a moment of breakdown. So you have to be careful. When he said this, I didn't pay much attention to his words. There was finally peace and the plan to invade Paradis did not directly affect me.
The body under the rubble moved slightly. I shuddered. I realized the truth with fear. I wanted to return to my safe post. Away from the fighting. Despite everything, I wanted to turn back and survive. Like the worst coward.
I looked towards the titans in the middle of hell. I picked up the gun that seemed to fell out of my hands out of nowhere. With trembling hands, I squeezed it as tight as I could. I forced myself to take a step.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a dark silhouette on the roof. The figure fired a shot. It missed. In response, I pulled the trigger. I didn't wait to see if the bullet got where it was supposed to. I turned right. I passed the market. The fallen stalls slowed me down for a moment. The crippled, half-dead Eldian extended his armband towards me. He was wheezing something over and over, spitting blood. He probably wanted me to help him. He grabbed my leg.
— Let me go — I muttered.
I could barely hear my voice over the omnipresent rumbling. Its sound seemed strange. The screams and moans around me were driving me crazy.
— Let me go, damn it!
As if in madness, I jerked my limb. I got hit in the head. The man screamed, loosening his grip.
There was only one thought in my head — find the Beast Titan. Just a moment ago he towered over the city. He threw stones, decimating the devils of Paradis. It seemed that thanks to him they would win the war. The usurper was doing worse and worse, surrounded by the Marleyans. But then, out on the sea, the Colossal one appeared. The hot air reached even me, even though the coast was so far away. Ackermann took advantage of the surprise. A deadly blade and dizzying speed. This is what the command warned us about.
When Jaeger talked about how strong his opponent was, I dismissed him. After all, no one could compare to him. Not in my eyes. The man I loved was the hope of humanity. He had plans, dreams and vision. He was appreciated. He became a commander. He led us to victory. And now it was all falling apart before my eyes. We were losing.
I stared at the huge, hairy body. It lay there limply. There was a hole in the neck. The bomb did its job and Levi finished it. He got to a weak spot. Dark, red blood covered the titan's entire neck. I also saw a human hand lying several dozen meters away. White, stained sleeve. I recognized it easily bythe cuff. I sewed a mismatched, colourful button on it myself.
There were no tears or sadness. Only disbelief and rage clouding everything. I blindly made my way back through the streets. As if in madness, I followed the most travelled path. There was no point in hiding in corners anymore. I screamed, angry at the people of Paradis because they had taken everything important from me. Home, battalion, friends and Zeke. Two scouts heard me. I was faster. This time I stopped and watched them die. I hoped I would enjoy it. I was wrong. All I felt inside was unquenchable, raging anger.
Only the sight of Gabi and Falco pulled me out of the strange spiral of madness. For a moment I thought it was just an illusion. They shouldn't be here. They argued furiously. A dead enemy lay next to them, attached to a strange rope. I followed it with my eyes. It was attached to an airship. The devils wanted to escape on it. Back to where they came from. They flew away against the dark, starless sky. They had managed to change my entire life in a matter of moments and now they had the nerve to leave.
The city lay in ruins. It wasn't the same sight I had seen with Jaeger. An insistent rumble instead of the gentle sound of waves. The screams of dying people instead of the screams of seagulls. The smell of smoke instead of nicotine from the cigarette he was smoking. Red blood instead of a blue, calm ocean. Death instead of love.
Braun grabbed the trigger of the mechanism. Without thinking, I clung to her back. Grice did the same. We zoomed upwards on that damned thing. My legs were hanging freely in the air. I pulled myself up with difficulty, grabbing the handle. The view of the destruction from this height seemed even more gruesome than before. I took a deep breath. The cold air tasted completely different from the air below.
I ran into a small room, firing a burst from my rifle. They stood still for a moment. Surprise attack. Zeke died in the same way. And now I was giving it back to the beautiful Eldians. I laughed hysterically at this irony. I didn't know how many people I had hurt but it didn't matter. Everything lasted a short while. I didn't expect a different turn of events. After all, they outnumbered me.
Someone immobilized me. He earned two kicks. It was all I could do after the rifle was taken away from me. I spat in his face, feeling him punch me back. Soon others joined him. I lost some teeth. The pain in my stomach became nothing compared to the pounding pain in my skull. I struggled but to no avail.
Gabi fought too. She bit and screamed and struck indiscriminately long after she was tied up. Falco knelt calmly, resigned. I always knew the girl was better suited to be the wielder of an Armored one. She had courage that a boy could only dream of.
— Devils! — I screamed.
I hoped that they would finally hit me hard enough to make me lose consciousness. Unfortunately, nothing like that happened. So I gritted my teeth, trying to understand what was happening around me.
They seemed to have no intention of killing children. The commander said something similar. As far as I heard correctly. My head was still buzzing. I laughed out loud. I would have scored another blow if someone hadn't stopped the soldier. Before them stood the candidates of the Marleyan army to take over the titans. And in their ignorance they wanted to take pity on them.
But I was the adult enemy. I had no sympathy, so they unscrupulously aimed at my temple. The barrel nicely cooled my hot forehead. I looked towards the still open door. I managed to catch a glimpse of the sky. Any sight before death was better than the Eldians' faces.
— I'm coming for you, Zeke — I whispered as they fired.

"Holy shit." Your gaze first settles on the sleeves of his dress. Seeing him in sleeves—puffy ones at that—was something that made you pause, where were his bare shoulders—You take in the way the longer ends were folded up to his elbows. He seems to have foregone his usual choice of gloves, settling for a shorter pair that leaves half of his palms uncovered. The front of his dress is neatly pressed, pristinely buttoned up, ending in a long skirt that reached below his knees. Not a single crease or wrinkle can be found, save for the frilly ruffles that adorn the edges of his sleeves and the dress' collar. The dress is complemented with a white apron layered atop it, you bet that the straps are tied into a simple bow at his back. Lastly, for his footwear, he only wore a pair of black shoes with square heels.
Your eyes tear up to see—oh, he was also wearing mismatching legwear, a thigh-high stocking and a knee-length sock held in place with a garter strap. You want to feel a hand up his legs—Simeon's serene smile falling at your words. "Language!" he scolds you. The tone he uses is enough to snap you out of your stupor.
"I'm sorry! It just slipped out!" you protest. Your fingers tug at the collar of your shirt, suddenly feeling heat creep upwards along the sides of your neck.
He never really admonished your predilection for crass language, but seeing as how you were in the presence of Luke and Solomon, you swallow back the reflexive curse that threatened to accompany your apology. Instead, your other hand fidgets with the hem of your shirt. Itching for a way to dispel the jitters that settled into your veins.
"Simeon! I'm not a kid anymore!" Luke huffs.
You spare a furtive glance to Solomon and Simeon, the former giving you an empathetic look while the latter's frown deepened. Sure, Luke might've been hundreds of years old, but Simeon would've had your head if you acted anything less like a decent adult in front of the younger angel.
"No, it-it's really my fault." The heat spreads to the tips of your ears, more out of shame than embarrassment. "I shouldn't have said that bad word, sorry, I'm sorry—What's with the getup, by the way?" You make a feeble attempt to divert the conversation.
An attempt which Solomon gladly extends an olive branch towards. "He's going to be helping the student council with a costume café this afternoon, didn't they tell you about it?"
"I don't think so?" Your head tilts to the side in confusion. You would've heard about it by now, knowing how much Asmo or Levi freely talked about their daily life on social media.
"I bet Lucifer cursed his brothers from talking about it." Luke says, crossing his arms over his chest. The gesture does little to emphasize his anger, on a normal day you would have poked fun at his expression. But there's a grain of plausibility to his words that strikes up a flare of jealousy inside you.
"Hm, maybe." Solomon shrugs, before giving you a knowing look. "But I don't think that's the only reason he'd do so."
A strangled noise erupts from your throat, which you try to play off as a cough. "Don't-don't ask me, I only found out today!" You hold your hands out in front of you defensively. Your cheeks were burning. This entire situation was unfair. You were going to get back at Lucifer. And your other pacts for not telling you about this.
To you gratitude (and simultaneous dismay), Simeon cuts in to say, "Well, you're still free to drop by later. My shift isn't until two, and it'll end a quarter to three."
And with that, the Purgatory Hall residents walk away. The sound of Simeon's heels clicking against the pavement grows fainter and fainter. You are left alone with that maddening polite smile and your less-than-savory thoguhts.
Taking out your D.D.D., you send a message to Solomon and march off in the direction they went towards. And they didn't even bother to tell you where it was being held, the nerve!
[...]
The first thing you do is back him up against the wall of the supply closet, pulling him into a feverish-open mouthed kiss. The surprised moan that tears itself from his throat sends you spiraling further down your need. Your hand hikes up to cup the back of his neck, you drink in every hitched breath, every plaintive whine.
Which he earnestly reciprocates, kissing you back with just as much fervor. One of his hands searches for yours and interlaces your fingers together.
That one hour of waiting was torture. Watching him move from table table, greeting cafe goers with a bright smile and hearing his pleasant voice call them 'Master.' It was an hour of agony, made worse with being pestered by the the demon brothers to try at least one of everything on the menu, to take pictures of everyone—which of course!—turned into painstaking group photos that were more effort to coordinate than they were worth taking.
But that was in the past. You can afford to let your jealousy dissipate, just a little bit.
Pulling away, you ask, "where'd you get the dress?"
There's a string of saliva connecting your lips to his, and you catch the way his throat bobs as he gathers his words. "Leviathan lent it to me... th-the shoes are from Asmo..." You feel him tense up as your other hand slips under his skirt, feeling up the side of his thigh.
You let out a low whistle. Silk. That meant everything else—the gloves and stockings—was his. "I bet they had fun dressing you up, didn't they? Probably spent the whole day trying on dozens of outfits, huh?"
"...there were a few, yes. I thought you...would like this best..." That meant someone from your pacts let this—that you were into this kind of thing—slip.
You have a few guesses as to who that could have been. "Mm, you thought right—will you hold your skirt up?"
He obeys, gathering the layers of fabric and hiking them up. Dropping to your knees you press your palms against his thighs, feeling them tremble. They're not shaking from exertion, the type of heels he was wearing guaranteed more comfort than wearing stilettos. Even if he was on his feet for almost an hour, you are sure that you're the reason he was shaking with anticipation.
You hear him call your name. Flicking your gaze up to meet his, your fingertips are hooked into the waistband of his underwear, a few scant centimeters away from freeing his cock. "Levi said he—" The edge of your nail grazes against the sensitive skin, eliciting another shiver. "—h-he wanted this returned...intact..."
You roll your eyes, leave the unrealistic expectations to the third-born. "Okay," you reply.
A bunch of the skirt falls against your face, Simeon's hand finds your shoulder. "I'm serious—" he warns.
You don't let him finish that threat, you were the one in control right now. Knocking his hand away, you yank his underwear down and lick up his shaft. "What'd I say about the skirt, angel?" It's a small gesture, but you have him so wrapped around your finger that his hips reflexively cant up to chase the sensation of your tongue.
"Hah—I-I'm serious..." His authoritative tone weakens as your tongue catches a pearl of precum leaking from the tip.
"I know, I know, just keep your legs spread and stand still." His skirt is pulled away from your field of view, granting you the sight of his flustered form. "And no more touching."
His tongue darts out to wet his lips. Growing fluster and mild irritation are warring in his eyes, but in spite of all that going on in his mind, you can feel him growing harder in your palm. Feel his navel rising and falling in trepidation. "Okay, no touching." His fingers flex, bunching up and creasing the skirt's fabric even more.
"What else did I tell you?" You lean closer, trace circles along his inner thigh with your fingers. Letting the puff of your breath ghost along his cock.
"To-to keep my legs apart..." More precum leaks from the tip.
Your finger swipes at his arousal, dampening the pad of the digit. "Mhm, go on..."
"And to—" You pull away right when he jolts at the feeling of your slicked palm gliding up and down his dick. What you would give to hear that needy noise again. "—keep still..."
"Yep, that's right....good." Your voice lowers and you finally, finally take him into your mouth.
The moan that spills from Simeon is downright sinful, you feel his knees about to buckle from the welcome stimulation. His breathing is growing ragged, but he's got his mouth clamped shut to stifle any more accidental noises. Your own arousal is building between your legs, but your focus stays on servicing Simeon with your hands and tongue. You can feel a mix of spit and arousal running down your chin, but you're too far gone to care, too mesmerized at the sight of Simeon falling deeper and deeper into pleasure.
When your jaw starts to ache, your hand curls into a fist to stroke the heated flesh. Making sure to catch the sensitive underside of his dick, to tease the tip with the flat of your palm. Every involuntary shake and twitch, every soft whine from him fills you with a heady mix of arousal. You have to give him credit for listening to you in spite of his growing impatience. "You're doing so well for me, angel."
His voice wavers. "I'm... ngh... getting close..."
Relaxing your throat, you swallow his length. Your palms brace themselves against his inner thighs. The gesture elicits a loud whine from him. His cock hits the back of your throat, and you feel your throat seize up in momentary panic. More drool slips down your chin, spilling onto your shirt. A hand cards through your hair in an attempt to soothe you. You glance up at Simeon and his hand pulls away a moment too late—
Didn't I tell you not to touch me?
You set a punishing pace against him, hollowing your cheeks and sucking hard. Your ears are filled with a litany of praises and gratitude, mixed with the sounds of his moans pitching higher and higher as he draws closer to release. Your head is filled with the thump of your heartbeat in your ears, the squelch of your saliva as you fellate him. His hips rut into the heat of your mouth, meeting the bobs of your head. "Hah... Master, I-I'm going to—"
A surprised moan escapes you when you feel his cock twitch before spilling his seed down your throat. Your nails dig crescent marks into the skin of his thighs.
Still, you swallow. You did promise that he would get to return the dress intact.
You pull away from his softening cock to catch your breath. Simeon looks utterly debauched, and you're sure that you look just as mussed up.
A beat of silence passes.
"So...'Master,' huh?" His head turns away to avoid your inquisitive gaze. You can't help the laugh that escapes from you.
Simeon weakly protests, stammering, "it just... slipped out, I guess..."
That didn't sound like an accident. You wonder if he merely put on the maid act in preparation for this event or if there was something deeper—perhaps subconscious?—behind his use of the title.
"I'm gonna ask Levi to let you keep this dress—no, scratch that. I'm telling him you're keeping it." Taking out a handkerchief, you wipe at your mouth, at some of the mess along his thighs and groin. You savor the reflexive twitch from his oversensitive nerves and the way his hold on your wrist tightens for a mere fraction, before helping Simeon stand. When you think that he can keep himself upright, you busy yourself with smoothing out his dress.
"Huh, why?"
He shudders again as you retie the straps of his apron. Your hands splay against his lower back as you consider your next words.
"Because I want you to fuck me while wearing it."
He meets your bluntness with a moment of stunned silence and fragmented words. "O-oh, um...okay—" His response tapers off into a surprised moan as your fingers press an appreciative squeeze into his waist.
From your position, you're lower than him, bending down to help fix the underlayers of his skirt. So far it seems passable, but he probably has to double-check in front of a mirror, make sure that there's no trace of your illicit activities before his second shift. At least, on his person.
Straightening up, you guide him to look at you with the tips of your fingers resting on his chin. Your touch is gentle, but your tone of voice leaves no room for argument. "Once Lucifer's stupid fundraiser café thing ends, you better come to my room wearing this. Got that, angel?"
You hear him audibly swallow. "Yes." But he still holds your gaze.
"Yes, what?"
The words are uttered in a low voice, you have to strain to hear them. "Yes, Master." His cheeks heat up underneath your palm.
"Good." He isn't one of your pacts, but that made his willing subservience all the more precious.

Do you have any special appearance/body headcanons for any of the cast? Who's the tallest? Shortest? Any thoughts on body types or ability/disability? (I like to think Levi has mobility issues because of his nature as a sea demon.) Markings, tattoos, scars of any kind? Demon form quirks?
I enjoy seeing how different people imagine the brothers and dateables, because everyone you ask has a different answer :)
I love hearing people's interpretation of the characters too!
So here is a few things I can think of
Luke has a mismatch of baby and adult teeth
Asmodeus has freckles
Barbatos veins glow turquoise
The brothers have scars from the Celestial war.
Lucifer, Mammon, Asmodeus and Beelzebub has the most scars
Satan has some of the same scars as Lucifer.
He also has four scars on his back matching the placement of Lucifer's wings.
Satan's hands are also extremely scared from all his anger rampages
Belphegor may be strong but he is a lot more scrawny than his brothers
Solomon has shaky hands which can be a real pain when making potions
Wings and tails kind of have a mind of their own. It's not uncommon for them to wrap around people they hold dear. Maybe you'll see Leviathan's tail wrap around his younger brothers when he feels like they are in danger
Mammon is extremely flexible. Watch him bend backwards until his hands are on his ankles.
Mephistopheles' left knee sometime acts up. It's usually not that bad. But there will be times were he has to sit down because it hurts to much to stand. His right knee is just fine.
All adult none humans are pretty tall in general for human standards.
Thirteen's dominant hand is her left.
None human eyes glow in the dark.
Barbatos, Simeon, Luke, Thirteen, Mammon, Leviathan and Asmodeus has dimples
Solomon gets bruises easily and has a weak back
Diavolo has multiple piercings.
Those are some of them.
Hope that somewhat answered the question. Remember to drink water.

He breathed gorgeousness in like second nature, so, it wasn't too surprising when the red flowers in his room turned pink. His face lit up at this new revelation or aesthetic or trend which was to kill for. Crushing the petals into hues nice enough to replace his boring old blush.
He couldn't get enough of it.
Alas, his eldest brother had ruined his fun. They had received a new tenant which was arguably granted immunity from their grasps. Which he couldn't careless about at the time as humans are humans. Their intricacy's were rarely interesting, yet, the new one was much like a sheep.
His charm didn't work on them. They attempted to ignore him at every turn and they had begun to make pacts with his brothers. Not the brightest one's but come on they even managed to snag the loner Levi. He at least figured that one wouldn't fold.
It almost made him angry. How could they turn away from him? He's the pinnacle of beauty and all things gorgeous! His unbridled and caged frustration turned into replacing the rose canvas. Such poor, poor, weak little Demon whores.
No one would miss them. Streetwalkers rarely are reported missing.
His nose twitched at a scent wafting through the air. The little sheep had overdone it on their bathing aromas. Humans are quite filthy- he understood the problems of Mammon. That greedy beast had been caught stealing articles of clothing from the Human to allegedly grieve.
Still, there he stood in the bathroom searching for the exact fragrance. Was it a combination of scents? He needed to add it to his collection. A blush worked its way onto his face as he thought of the naughty things he could do slathered in it.
Mammon was probably doing that too. A snarl came upon him at the thought.
Then he was off to the mirror combing through his locks. Such unlovely emotions are easier to rid of through beauty. He sniffed the bottle and felt as if time had gone backward. It was as if he never came here. It was perfect. It was heaven-bound.
He poured some into his hands and rubbed them slowly. This process was delicate and smooth.
"Are you almost done?"
"You can never be done with perfection," he sang, "Say what have you been using on that skin of yours? It no longer looks hideous."
He laughed at their scrunched face in the mirror before waving a hand.
"Oh, no matter. If you don't want to tell me, I can always take a bit of your skin for myself," he grinned.
Yes, he could add it to his collection like the eyeballs on his vanity. A mismatched pair belonging to an old gift Mammon had thrown to him. They were so magnificent he had to resist plucking them from their jar and rolling them between his fingers.
"Good one," they dryly laughed.
"It was, wasn't it? Wanting low-quality flesh is unbecoming of me. I'm afraid it'd make me break out."
His grin fell as he stepped past them. He'd take some in their sleep tonight. All he needed was a spellbook from Satan and no one would know. Then again, he picked at his nails, which spot would he take it from? He could peel their face off and make a face mask. Pulling a chunk from their leg could be used as a cover for his vanity chair. Or he could skin them down the spine, and weave it into the vines of his growing floral wall.
Oh, the possibilities were endless and exciting. Almost too exciting, he sighed. He didn't have any new toys to play with except the old hollowed cell named Beel. His lips quirked as he almost steered towards Beel's room with deviation. He'd make his brother satisfy him...not like Beel would oppose. Beel would do anything to appease his brother.
With one last thought, he patted the stolen bottle in his pocket and debated bringing it to his room. It wasn't his job to share the intoxicating scent with anyone but he could rub it in their face. It was heavenly and fuck it if he wasn't still heavenly. He's so gorgeous the Celestial Realm would let him back in if they took one glance at him.
His eyes flared.

"Now, is anyone from the audience brave enough to offer their wrist?"
The small stage was surrounded by spectators. In the very center, glowing from the spotlights stood a tall man with a curious smile, his eyes searching over the audience. He wasn't who they were there to see-- No, the real attraction was the seat beside him and the creature bound there. Thrashing, drooling, with wild red eyes, the vampire bared his teeth and struggled against his chains. It was clear to those close to the stage that the monster was in distress. He was pale and gaunt, his clothes stained and dirty. The curls on his head were unkempt and matted, his beard overgrown and rusty with old blood.
The creature thrashed again, the chair squeaking as it was pushed closer to the edge of the stage. The crowd gasped and jeered, some stepping back to try and keep a safe distance. "I see a few tentative hands. Let me preface by saying this is perfectly safe." The man lied, his smile growing. "And I won't let him take too much, only enough to settle him down. Surely someone will help me feed the beast?"
From the side stage, a young man with mismatched eyes hummed quietly. Glancing at the snake relaxing on his shoulders, he looked back up and moved to nudge the back of another. "Go on, newbie! Go get your good luck kiss." He teased, flashing an easy grin. "You'll have to do it sooner or later. It's sort of an.. unspoken requirement." Levi moved closer to the stage entrance, watching the vampire try and gnaw his way through the straight jacket he wore. "We've all offered our wrist to him at least once." He teased, looking back at Will with a playful smile. "It only hurts a little bit. You know, as long as he only bites you once." Grinning, Levi laughed a little and tongued the corner of his lip. "I'll buy you dinner and a few drinks after if you make it out alive."
From behind another body popped up, a small frown perched on her face. "Don't tease him!" Mona's hands were on her hips, her body dressed in a damp robe while her long braids dripped puddles onto the floor.
"I'm not teasing! Remember when he ripped the veins from that lady's wrist and she had to go-"
"Levi!" Mona hushed him, her eyes wide and stern. Looking at Will, she smiled brightly and shook her head. "It's only thirty seconds. They time it with a watch and then pull him off your wrist." She explained, "But Levi is right, it is a tradition. You don't have to, but.." She glanced back at the stage and frowned, "If nobody volunteers, I'm afraid he won't get fed at all tonight. I feel bad for him, I don't think he really gets to eat other than during these demonstrations."
Levi quieted, folding his arms across his chest. Taking in a deep breath, he let it out and cocked a brow. "....There you go. If you won't do it for drinks, do it out of guilt!" He said before breaking into another grin. "Go on! Go get a kiss!"

I'll be back soon with more. As always, if you missed the last chapter, you can find it here!

Note
I’m slightly fixated on the fact that Austin did double denim wearing just his regular old Levi’s clothes and a simple white shirt (he probably has lots of them, but it looks like the one he wears in one of the Dune training vids), plus his cap that he’s had since forever, and regular boots he probably got at a vintage store. For such a big event like Honorary Flag Waver at the Indy500, where something like 300,000 people attend, and he’s so humble and easygoing in his manner and attire.
…and by contrast you have the daily fail writing “articles” about Girlfriend’s £150 basic black ballet flats, and “showing off” her stomach. Such a wild juxtaposition! Like you said, the masks are starting to fall off and people are opening their eyes more and more. Not much longer until Breakup Day
the two of them are so mismatched on so many levels it really is abhorrent lol

Timing: While Leviathan was Away(tm) Location: Axis Investigations Feat: @faustianbroker (as Gabagool), @mortemoppetere, & @eldritchaccident Warnings: Alcoholism tw (mention) Summary: Everyone's favorite gossip demon spends some time at Emilio's
Beady little mismatched eyes peeked up over the edge of the table, narrowing into slits when they saw the unattended phone sitting there. The badalisc hunkered down, wiggled his butt, and then leaped onto the table, claws skittering on the wooden top and adding to the scratches that already marred its surface.
Paw pads slapped at the phone, the creature finding himself thankful that the horrible man his master had left him with didn’t value security, unlocking it to a familiar sort of screen. He knew what the phone button looked like and nosed that, staring at the recent calls screen.
Shit, he didn’t know Teddy’s number. Or how to spell their name. Shit.
Oh well.
Starting from the top down, Gabagool started calling every number that had been incoming or outgoing, immediately bitching about being picked up when someone answered, not bothering to wait and hear if it was Teddy. Eventually it was, though, and the lesser demon heaved a relieved sigh.
“I’ve called like twenty people, Teddy! Come pick me up! This jackoff isn’t even giving me my daily serving of lamb! This is bullshit!” he hollered into the phone, sounding on the verge of hysterics.
When he’d agreed to this gig, it had seemed like easy money. After all, Emilio had once been the father of a newborn who required next to no sleep and had enhanced senses informing her of every movement her parents made in the next room. How hard could any babysitting gig be in comparison to that?
He wasn’t sure if it was the years separating him from fatherhood or the fact that Levi’s badalisc was just a fucking nightmare, but he was beginning to think Gabagool was worse than a slayer toddler had ever been. He wasn’t even cute, the way Flora had been. He was just annoying.
So when Emilio came into the kitchen to find the little monster on his phone, it ticked him off a little bit.
“Give me that,” he snapped, marching across the room as quickly as he was able and snatching the phone out of the little beast’s grubby hands. “Who the fuck are you calling? Stay away from my shit, man.” He glanced down at the caller ID, groaning at the name he saw there and hanging up as quickly as he could. With any luck, nothing of the call had gone through at all. He and Teddy might be on steadier ground now than they’d been before, but the last thing he wanted was for them to have something like this to hole over his damn head. “I told you, I’m not buying fucking lamb. There’s food here. Just eat that.”
The call had gone through, and had the slayer been listening to his surroundings more than just the whiny whims of the badalisc, he might have heard the quiet, raspy, and always just a little curiously eager voice on the other end far closer than he would have imagined. Definitely far closer than he would have liked. Teddy was practically right outside the slayer’s door when the call came. Teddy didn’t even know that Levi had left the precious baby with Emilio of all people. And you know what, Teddy was a bit offended by that. Clearly the detective wasn’t doing a stellar job.
Timing it just-so for maximum effect, Teddy waited until the clamor died down inside the apartment, then knocked a pleasantly annoying tune on the old painted wood.
—
Gabs hissed at Emilio as he snatched the phone away, scrabbling his paws on the table in a defiant little dance. “I’m calling for help! I need help! This is abuse!” he howled, leaping down from the table and tearing back into the living room.
“Your food is shit, poor man! I want lamb! Get me lamb! Leviathan makes me lamb! It makes lamb for me every night!” As he sucked in a deep breath to continue wailing, he heard the knock and clammed right up. His ears flicked toward the door, followed by his big head, and that massive mouth split into a toothy grin. “Teds? TEDS?! Oh! Oh!” He could smell them already, bounding over to the door and skittering in tight circles.
“Get the door, sourpuss! I don’t have fucking thumbs.”
A knock at the door, the subtle scent of sulfur and soap that was becoming more familiar than Emilio would care to admit. The detective groaned, throwing his head back in frustration. How the fuck had Teddy even gotten here so quickly? He glared at the little demon as it took off for the living room, clambering after it quickly enough to make his leg ache. “Maybe I find out what badalisc tastes like, hm? I’ll show you abuse, you little shit.”
Another knock, and the demon was running to the door on its stupid, too fast legs. Emilio stomped after it, though he made no move towards the doorknob. “One second,” he called through the door. “I gotta put something in the microwave first!” He made a grab for Gabagool as he said it, making it pretty clear what he intended to put in the microwave. He wouldn’t turn it on or anything. He just thought the demon might be quieter in there, was all.
The micro– Oh NO. Without another word Teddy barged into the apartment, not waiting for any kind of invitation. What were they, a vampire? Was that even… Not the time Teds. There was a little furball being scooped up by an abrasive detective and clearly he needed saving. The taller demon didn’t even stop to close the door behind them as they swept into the apartment like a tidal wave.
“Hey– hey! No cooking the baby!” Demons, despite popular belief, were not fireproof. Or radiation proof for that matter. Video games got it wrong. (Though, not too many had tested the microwave method.) With one fluid motion Teddy carefully dropped the basket of things they had brought with them, and scooped up the little furball the way he liked to be held. “Hell’s wrong with you?” Clearly not directed at Gabagool, the very best demon in the world.
—
Gabagool had just started up a rather shrill wail when Teddy came barging inside, scrambling to get away from Emilio as the hunter’s hands gripped his fur with malicious intent, only to be scooped up by the other demon and cradled protectively in their arms.
“He was gonna cook me! He was gonna eat me, Teds!” the badalisc whined, covering his eyes with his front legs, in a dramatic show of fear. “When does Leviathan come home? I want Leviathan back! And I want my lamb!”
Stupid broken lock. Teddy barged in before Emilio could make good on any of his threats, snatching the wretched little demon out of his hands and holding it like it was a baby instead of the worst thing Emilio had ever had to put up with in his life. He preferred the vampire who’d gotten the drop on him in Mexico six years ago to this thing, even if he’d been mostly dead by the time Rhett finally found him and dragged him back home. He’d like to be mostly dead right now, he thought. If he were mostly dead, he wouldn’t be babysitting a sea monster’s badalisc. It’d probably be peaceful.
Glaring at the badalisc as Teddy spoke, Emilio nodded. “No, no, you’re right,” he said. “I shouldn’t cook him in the microwave. I’m sorry about that. Really. The oven would work a lot better.” He made another grab for Gabagool, though it was a half-assed attempt at best. He wasn’t really going to put the little shit in the oven, but he’d like to spook it into acting a little less annoying.
Still glaring, Emilio turned his attention to Teddy. “Wait, how the fuck did you get here so quick. And what — You brought a basket? I’m not cooking lamb for this thing.”
There was a lot of mental gymnastics going on behind those ruby red glasses. Teddy tried their best to soothe the frantic demon in their arms with scritches right behind his ears, the way Gabs liked. If Leviathan trusted Emilio to take care of Gabagool, he had to know. But how much? Levi knew he was a hunter, even went as far as to say that was a reason to not 'hang around' the slayer. The middlest Jones squinted, boring their eyes into Emilio as if all his secrets would spill if they just stared hard enough. But they weren't a badalisc. Just the pudgy ball of sass still wiggling about in Ted's arms.
"I was summoned." They replied flatly, lying outright for once. Another sort of test, gauge his response, see where he lands. "The basket isn't for Gabs." Would they explain what it was for? No. Detective Danger over there could figure it out his damn self. "I did door dash us some ingredients though. This place does have a stove right?" Cooking for Gabagool was always a treat for Teddy. Where Leviathan gobbled up anything the lad made, happily, greedily, Gabs had a discerning palate. Made Ted feel like they were on a cooking competition show. Made them want to make fancy things. "Braised lamb and carbonara, okay Gabs?"
Positively melting at the suggestion, Gabagool relaxed in Teddy's arms. "Ohh, that sounds heavenly," he sighed, reaching for his back paws with the front pair, throwing Emilio a faux smile as he did his best to appear as cute as possible. "See, garbage man, this is how you treat a guest! You're getting paid a ridiculous amount of money to take care of me… you could try a little harder."
Seemingly done with his tantrum now that Teddy had arrived, he wiggled to be put back down, standing stock still as Perro entered the living room to see what the commotion was. The two had a five second stare-off before Gabs huffed and scurried over to him, initiating play much like if he was a dog himself.
Kiss ass, Emilio thought, continuing to glare silently at Gabagool as he twisted and relaxed in Teddy’s arms. Acting like he hadn’t been a little shit the entire time he’d been here. Now Teddy probably thought he was some kind of an asshole who’d been tormenting the stupid thing. Not that Emilio cared, of course. Who gave a shit what Teddy Jones thought of him?
He shoved his hands into his pockets as Gabs ran off to play with Perro. The dog, at least, was thrilled with the temporary addition to the household. Emilio turned his attention to the basket Teddy had brought, rifling through it. Groceries, like they’d told Gabs, sure. But other things, too. “Why are you walking around with a basket full of candles and shit? And did — You’re kidding. Right? About the summoning.” Levi made it sound a hell of a lot harder to summon a demon. Emilio shook his head, straightening back up and nudging the basket towards the door with his foot. “Whatever. That thing doesn’t deserve… whatever you said you were gonna make him. He’s a prick.” He said it loudly enough for Gabagool to hear, shooting another vague glare in the smaller demon’s direction. “We don’t need any help here. Tell your dad that everything’s fine.”
“The candles are for something else that I said I’d do. I’m just here to do it.” Teddy didn’t answer the second part. Simply smiled and raised their brows as they brushed past, searching for the kitchen they were not invited to use. They passed by the playing creatures with a pleasant hum. It was actually pretty nice to see the little demon getting along with another animal, even if that one couldn’t talk up a storm the way Gabs could. “If you think you don’t need help you’re in denial. Did pops not tell you that Gabagool could make rumors come true? You gotta treat him like the little prince that he is, and he’ll be a wonderful house guest. Plus, he likes the Golden Girls. That tip’s for free.” One big grin and the demon disappeared behind the wall.
Teddy didn’t know what they were expecting to find in the kitchen, but it was somehow both better and worse than they thought it’d be. But– serviceable. Enough. Just a bit of light scrubbing before they got to work. Something they’d probably have to do before setting up any wards or rituals anyway, if they wanted the chalk to stick long enough for it to work. Ted’s phone chimed lightly, letting them know the dasher was coming up to drop off the ingredients that they’d need, but Ted had brought some stuff with them. Were they planning on making dinner here anyway? Maybe. Would they say it’s just cause the rituals would take some time, and doing magic on an empty stomach was never a good idea? Yes.
“Do you at least have a sauteé pan?”
Hearing Teddy talking up his abilities, the lesser demon allowed a smug smirk to settle over his animalistic features, replacing the scowl that’d been directed right back at Emilio only moments ago.
Headbutting Perro gently to end their play, the badalisc trotted into the kitchen after Teddy, bumping hard into Emilio’s leg as he went, his stump of a tail held as high in the air as it could be. “And gosh, wouldn’t it be a shame if I’d heard that both your knees were bad? Or that you were terribly, terribly sick? That would be so sad for you!” The threat, while lighthearted, was… probably serious.
“A man without a sauteé pan? You see what I’ve been dealing with, Teddums? This is an outrage.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Emilio wracked his mind as Teddy brushed by him, trying to remember if the demon had promised (or perhaps threatened?) to do anything around his apartment. There’d been talks of rituals to ease the curse, sure, but the curse was over now, wasn’t it? Sure, he still woke up in a cold sweat with his own voice in his head, echoing the thought that had rattled through his mind when he put that blade in Lucio’s gut, but that was no different than the dreams of his old living room back in Etla that still plagued him, or the way he sometimes swore he spotted Flora in a crowd. Not a supernatural thing, not really; just the broken mind of a broken man.
Deciding that whatever was happening in the kitchen was more important than the basket on the floor, Emilio turned to follow Teddy in that direction, shooting Gabagool a glare at the threat. “I’ll feed you to a goat,” he hissed in Spanish, figuring Teddy couldn’t judge him for a threat they wouldn’t understand. Turning back to the slightly more tolerable demon, he said, “I have a pan. It’s on the fridge.” It was not, of course, a sauteé pan, though Emilio was unaware that there was any kind of a difference. “If your little monster starts making things come true about me, I’m going to kick it,” he added.
If anyone was gonna spill the beans that Teddy knew Spanish it was going to be Gabagool, but there was definitely more dirt to unpack from that pile. So the demon just looked over at the badalisc, looked back at the food they were preparing and gave a rather knowing look to the little gossip monger. Gabs had been in the family long enough to know the scheming face of Teddy Jones.
“Speaking in tongues is usually the thing that demons do, not the people watching them, Cortez.” Pan. Single. Ugh. This was going to be a challenge. In a way, that was kind of good though. Fun. Like being on Cutthroat Kitchen. At the very least Teds could spy a few wooden tools, and knives. “If my little angel does that, it’s only because you didn’t respect him enough. Also you may not have a foot long if you do that. Double also, If your kitchen knives aren’t at least as sharp as the ones you use on hunts, I will be disappointed.”
—
Keep the trap shut. Got it. Gabagool sneered at Emilio, adding a “You wouldn’t dare. Leviathan would gut you,” for good measure before he jumped up on the counter, then to the top of the aforementioned fridge to watch the scene unfold from afar. The creature might have a big mouth, but to be an effective gatherer of gossip, he had to know when to listen, too.
So he did just that, curling up on top of the smelly, mostly-unused fridge with his chin hanging over the edge, watching the two move about the kitchen with quiet curiosity.
“Getting gutted would be worth it,” Emilio bit back, still glaring at the creature. Gabs retreated to the top of the fridge, which wasn’t quite a victory, but Emilio would accept it as such all the same. Confident — or at least momentarily hopeful — that Gabagool wasn’t going to make good on his threat to rumor his good knee into breaking, the detective turned his attention to Teddy.
They’d certainly made themself at home in his kitchen easily enough, pulling out tools and cooking items that Emilio hadn’t even known he’d possessed. Some of them may have been left by the previous occupant of the apartment, the way a lot of the items scattered around Axis were. Others may have been placed there by well-meaning friends and neighbors. The large wooden spoon certainly looked like a Javi addition. “Knives are sharp,” he confirmed with a nod. You never knew when you might need to use one, after all… though Emilio’s idea of ‘using’ the kitchen knives certainly differed from Teddy’s intentions here. “What are the candles for? If you told me while I was drunk, I don’t remember it now. Don’t remember much of anything there.” It was a lie; he remembered that night on Teddy’s boat a lot more than he’d care to admit, remembered the warmth in his chest that hadn’t been the curse or the alcohol.
Teddy hummed satisfactorily. If there was one thing the demon loved it was knowing something that someone else didn’t. Well. Only if it was for a good reason. Or at least a funny one. Emilio’s confession that Ted wasn’t the problem in their relationship (or lack of one) was a juicy enough tidbit that the ghost would not be given up any time soon.
Gabs scrambled upward, and the pan came down. All sorts of dirty and grimy in that way that only untouched kitchen clutter always got. Oily dust. A bitch to clean. Teddy’s expression said just as much as they pushed past Emilio to the sink, and slid the pan between a host of other dirty dishes (mostly coffee mugs?) that sat in various stages of growing their own eco systems. A frown wouldn’t do this justice, so Teddy just returned to their aloof base state.
“Even without the curse hanging over your head I’m sure the wards will do you a bit better than Big Finn alone.” It was quieter, softer. As Teddy scrubbed what seemed like years of build up off the pan, and any stress off their own back. This was something they could do well, something they liked to do for other people. Clear up the clutter in a house, you help them clear up the clutter in their head. Plus, Teds got to cook after, and that was enough to put them in a good mood. If the whole affair came with a little verbal volleyball between them and Emilio? Eh, that was a bonus.
—
The fact that they’d been together when Emilio was drunk might’ve been something, but if the bottles catered around the terrible apartment were any indication, that was more the norm, anyway. So maybe nothing. Unless Teddums was also drunk. Humans always did stupid things when they were drunk, and Ted was enough of a human to fall under that umbrella. Affectionately.
“Is he really worth the effort?” the lesser demon interjected with a scoff, his gaze darting to Emilio. “I mean for fuck’s sake, look at the state of this place. It’d take a miracle to keep anyone happy in a place like this.” Gabagool didn’t know exactly what the wards were for, but he knew Big Finn well enough to make a guess.
He could make the claim that his apartment was a mess because of the chaos involved with babysitting Gabagool, or pretend he would have tidied up if he knew that he’d had company on the way, but he didn’t think anyone would buy it. Most of the shit in that sink had been sitting there for far longer than his houseguest had been present, to the point that Emilio had been drinking his morning coffee straight from the pot for a week or so now, and he didn’t think the pan had come off the fridge since the day he moved in. That much was probably obvious by the state of it, if Teddy’s expression had anything to say.
But, strangely, they didn’t give him hell for it. Emilio watched them carry it to the sink, watched them scrub with a strange expression on his face. What did Teddy care, he wondered, about the shit that went on in Emilio’s head? After all the crap he’d given them, why were they still trying to help? “You don’t have to,” he said lowly, uncharacteristically soft. “Don’t want you wasting any… energy on me, or whatever.” Some things couldn’t be fixed; Emilio Cortez was one of them.
That didn’t mean he enjoyed Gabagool’s commentary, of course. Turning back towards the fridge, his expression shifted from the strangely soft one he’d been delivering to the back of Teddy’s head to a sharp glare. “I still haven’t decided not to stick you in the microwave,” he warned. “You’re small and easy to catch. It could happen at any time.”
The badalisc was jabbering on again, and Teddy just continued to smile. Adding in a small shrug at his question. Because hey, when did Teds ever know why they did what they were doing, right? Maybe it was because of some strange desire to see the world better than how they found it. Maybe it was an experiment just to see if they could do it. Maybe it was because throughout each interaction some small sliver of something was uncovered in Emilio that excited Teddy. That reflected back on something that burned within them too. There was a mystery, or at least a hidden treasure. They just knew it. Some strange feeling they couldn’t ignore.
It wasn’t something that the demon thought the other shared. Even as the man in question talked in softer tones towards Teddy’s back. Even as they turned and caught the briefest glimpse of Emilio’s face before he turned and continued to badger the badalisc. To which Teddy just mocked a stabbing motion behind the slayer's back, mouthing to the tiny demon a quick ‘Should I?’ along with a mischievous grin. To some eyes, (perhaps those seeing this situation for the first time as a third wheel) the motion may have looked to be something else, but that was neither here nor there. There was dinner to be made, and big mouths to feed.
“Eh.” Teds shrugged again. “I’ll do it anyway. Your apartment’s pretty much in the center of this building. Might help out Sully and Co too. Call it philanthropy. Once I get my mind set on something it’s pretty hard to stop me.” It wasn’t personal. Right? Couldn’t be. Teddy was barely a person. And Emilio sure didn’t think he was much of one either. If the state of this apartment was anything like the man’s mental health, it wasn’t going good.
—
Gab’s hackles rose at the return of the threat to cook him up, eyes narrowing at Emilio. “I cannot believe that Leviathan thought you’d be a suitable caregiver, you dick. What’d you do to seduce it, huh? Why’s it like you so much?” Hm. A grin stretched wide across the badalisc’s face at Teddy’s pantomime, unsure of the exact meaning but finding it amusing either way. Snorting, the lesser demon scrabbled down the front of the fridge again to land somewhat ungracefully on his paws, darting underneath the table where it sat to lick the dust out of his fur.
“You know, you live like this much longer and you’re gonna attract a whole fuckload of stakichar. Then you’ll really be sick all the time, and not just from the whiskey breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
“I’m likable,” Emilio replied, a little smug. “Either that, or you’re not likable. Maybe Leviathan left you with me ‘cause he’s hoping to get rid of your sorry ass.” He saw the badalisc’s mismatched eyes dart to something behind his head and he quickly turned around, but by the time he was facing Teddy again, they were the picture of innocence. Asshole. Why had Emilio thought it was a good idea to get involved with a family of demons in the first place? They were all dicks. Even Levi. He’d definitely saddled Emilio with Gabagool as some kind of terrible prank, the slayer was sure of it.
He watched the lesser demon scramble down from the fridge with a roll of his eyes, glancing back to Teddy. “You really think whatever you’re doing is going to cover the whole building?” That certainly made him more open to it. Trying to help Emilio might have been a waste of the demon’s time and efforts, but if those efforts ended up helping Wynne, Arden, Zack, and Sully, it was something the slayer could get behind.
As Gabagool went on, Emilio had half a mind to take off his shoe and toss it at the demon. “It’s not that bad,” he said, a little defensive. The apartment wasn’t in great shape right now, sure, but he’d get around to cleaning it eventually. Motivation was just… harder to come by lately. The last few weeks had found him struggling to pull himself off the couch or the mattress for anything other than his basic ‘work, drink, hunt’ routine. It happened, sometimes. Eventually, he’d get enough extra energy to manage the dishes. Until then, they weren’t hurting anyone, no matter what the nosy demon claimed. “You don’t get to talk about how I live, anyway. Are you licking yourself? Eso es repugnante.”
“Listen, I’m sure there was a reason Dad chose you.” They trailed off as they got busy. It was strange, but hey Levi had done stranger things. Picking Emilio. Instead of the very clear obvious choice, the one who knew about Gab’s temper, about his likes and dislikes, about the need for lamb. Lamb that Teddy was finally getting to prepare. The nice thing about this particular recipe is that it was quick. Or maybe that was just because of the ritual magic baked right in. Sped up the process. A day's worth of ‘slow cooking’ and flavorful braising in about… five to ten minutes. A demonic instapot. The young demon wasn’t nearly as practiced, or as powerful as Leviathan, but they sure were creative with their rituals and rites.
Garlic and shallots were thinly sliced, a flavorful broth was boiling away ready for the pasta, and a bit of butter in the pan was making the whole apartment smell like a five star kitchen. The simple things, Teddy found (if they were done juuuust right) made all the difference. The meat was already in the oven, and the demon was quickly balancing a magical act between the ritual and the ‘analog’ cooking.
When they got like this it was like the demon was in their own little world. Where everything else faded away and some rare equilibrium was reached. Usually this kind of act was reserved for the ones Teddy really cared about but… Well they did care about Emilio. Kind of. In a strange way. It was just… with an odd fascination or something. Right? The idea of something bad happening to the grumpy garbage man twisted up Ted’s stomach in a way they couldn’t really explain. It wasn't pity. That carried a connotation of looking down on the other’s situation. Which just wasn’t the case either. It wasn’t like they were friends, Emilio had made that clear. So maybe it was… empathy?
Some outreach of the demon’s heart that saw a similar ache in him. Wanted to bandage a wound they had no right to even ask about. In the end it probably didn’t matter. Teddy could feed the badalisc (and the grump), set up the runes and wards, then go back to being told to fuck off. They could figure out feelings later.
“Bon Appetit my darling prince.” Teddy made a grand show of setting up a plate (perfectly presented with an artistic flair) for the little demon at the table. On top. Not below. They sat next to him, with a much less fancy, but still quite full plate of their own. Then motioned to the counter for Emilio to find the dish set up for him, too. It was rude to just eat in front of someone. Doubly so in their house.
“Yes, because I know how to bathe myself unlike someone in this room,” Gabagool snapped back with a huff. He stood, giving a thorough shake of his little body and then turned on the spot to headbut the table chair until it was pushed out enough for him to climb into.
Seated on his haunches, the lesser demon stretched his front paws out on the table, resting his chin between them as his gaze danced between the two humanoids in the kitchen. Teds was in their own world as they cooked, which was pretty par for the course. The result, as always, was a delicious concoction of flavors, presented to the badalisc as it ought to have been: with grace and respect. Fuckin’ hell, was that so hard?
Grinning from ear to ear, the demon bounced excitedly in his chair, wishing he had the booster seat that was back at home. “You, babysitter,” he barked, his gaze snapping up to meet Emilio’s before he got a plate or sat down or did anything that might give him an excuse to say no (aside from just being generally disagreeable), “Get me a phone book or something to sit on. I need leverage on this incredible, amazing meal thankyousomuch my dear sibling.” The back half of the sentence was delivered with a decidedly honeyed tone, a big grin flashed in Teddy’s direction at the same time.
Teddy seemed to lose themself in the process of cooking, though it looked a little more like black magic to Emilio. Whether that was because of Teddy’s added flair to the process or because the slayer had simply never seen anyone cook anything more complex than a sandwich was hard to say. In any case, Teddy’s fascination with their craft essentially left Emilio once again alone with Gabagool.
“I do bathe myself,” he snapped, irritation clear in his tone. “Just not by licking myself, like some people.” Was it ridiculous, bickering with what essentially amounted to a demon’s pet cat? Yeah. Absolutely. But Emilio was nothing if not stubborn, and he refused to let Gabs get the last word even when it became clear that the argument wasn’t one he could feasibly win.
If he were a little less exhausted, he would have protested a little more about Teddy’s preparation. The stupid badalisc didn’t deserve lamb after the way it had acted. If you rewarded bad behavior, you were only ever going to see more bad behavior. Every parent knew that, even the bad ones. But he knew Teddy wouldn’t listen, and Gabagool was only his problem for a couple more days, anyway, so fuck it. Anything to make the demon shut up.
Except nothing would make the demon shut up, because the universe hated Emilio specifically. “Stand,” he replied flatly, looking down at the plate Teddy had prepared for him. It looked good, as far as food went. It would taste like ash, anyway. Everything always did. “Who the fuck even has a damn phone book? No.”
Ted’s brows raised as the rest of their face scrunched, as if to ask Emilio if that was really the best course of action here. It couldn’t hide the hint of a smile though. Curling at the edges of their lips, making dimples where smooth cheeks should have been. Instead, the demon stood once more, got the basket they had brought along, and upended it. Carefully. They still needed to actually do the full rituals to fix up this place, and hopefully provide Emilio with a bit of solace. However much the man raged against the idea. Often personally making things worse for himself.
Teddy lifted and sat the littlest demon on the basket like it was a perfect high chair, comfy and sturdy enough to hold the tiny but dense body. They gave Gab’s one little scritch then decided standing was a lot easier than trying to sit still. Teds munched upon their meal and began the preparations for the ritual. They moved aside the sad excuse for a carpet that blanketed the old hardwood floor and started drawing up the circles and adding in the required runes.
“Soooooo.” Teds said lowly, trying their best to think of something to talk about that would entertain the badalisc and not piss off the detective too much. “What’ve you been up to that kept you from properly feeding your temporary house guest, huh Cortez?”
—
Beaming appreciatively up at Teddy as they situated him on the basket, the creature’s little nub of a tail gave a small wag, and he hummed happily. Paws on the table, Gabagool tucked into the meal with enthusiasm. He was only half listening when Teds posed the question, ears pinned flat as he gave a snort of acknowledgement.
“Drinking too much, what else?” he snipped, beady gaze darting from where Teddy was settling up the ritual to Emilio, where it narrowed. “Didn’t even take me for any walks. Left that to his… whatever she is. Ward, or something. I dunno.” His expression softened, however. “She was nice, though, so it wasn’t all bad.”
God, Teddy babied this thing. Giving it everything it asked for, treating it as gently as one might treat a child or a beloved pet. Emilio rolled his eyes as they bent to its will again, using their basket as a booster seat to help the little monster see over the table. The glare he shot at the pair was mostly directed towards Gabagool, though there was some frustration towards Teddy as well. If they didn’t spoil the demon so much, it wouldn’t have been quite so insufferable.
Gathering the plate Teddy had prepared for him, the detective practically collapsed into the chair across from Gabagool, still glaring petulantly. A fork pushed food around on the plate, though he had little interest in actually eating it. The rock that seemed to have taken up permanent residence in his stomach felt heavier as of late, and attempting to put any food in his stomach didn’t seem like a particularly appealing thought. Neither did conversation, but that wasn’t quite as easy to get out of.
“I don’t drink too much,” he snapped, though he knew it was untrue. “You’d probably drink, too, if you had to deal with someone as annoying as you for a week. Have you ever listened to yourself speak? Anyone would drink.” He stabbed at the lamb on his plate aggressively. “She’s not my ward. She’s my dog walker. And if I find out you were an ass to her, I really will toss you in the oven.” Propping his chin on his hand with an elbow on the table, he added, “And how the hell am I supposed to walk you, anyway? Can barely walk my fucking self.” Another aggressive stab. There was a lot of meat on his fork now. Rather than bringing it to his mouth, he glanced to Teddy. “You’re seriously doing those rituals? You don’t have to, man. It’s fine. We’re fine here.”
A sly grin slid across the demon’s features as they worked, as they caught the look Emilio shot them. Teddy turned towards the little demon as it gobbled away at the meal.  “My sweet baby Gabs, you’ve gotten your lamb. I can make sure to send more food until pops comes home, would you please be sweet to the poor man? I know it’s very hard, he’s got a very bully-able face. Clearly he’s going through it, and needs some kindness in his life. That’s the least we can do.”
Pleased with themself (obviously) Teddy returned to the ritual. Carefully outlining a few more runes and glyphs. Almost done. “You got a dog walker? Bougie.” Perro, the other perfect angel, was being a very helpful assistant to Teddy’s rite. Chilling on the couch and every so often giving a little huff of approval or otherwise. Brilliant. “Now I’m just gonna do them out of spite. Protest any more and I’ll add a ward that makes it smell like fresh baked cookies.”
—
As much as Gabagool hated the idea of being kind to the ornery private investigator, he cared more about being kind to Teddy, an extension of which was doing as the young demon asked. “Fiiiiiine,” he sighed dramatically, throwing one last glare in Emilio’s direction before settling in to finish off the rest of his meal.
Plate cleaned, Gabagool hopped down from the basket and trotted beneath the table, stopping and parking his butt on the floor by Emilio’s feet. It was probably the closest he’d been to the man while not trying to bite at his shoelaces or some such antagonistic thing, so it was something of an olive branch, at least on his part. “Cookies? I think you should do that anyway.” He craned his thick neck around to glance up at Emilio, gaze meeting the slayer’s for a brief second before jumping to the food he wasn’t eating. “Not a sane person alive that doesn’t like the smell of cookies… especially chocolate chip. You really can’t go wrong there.” It was almost as if he was asking the man’s permission, which was yet another olive branch.
Emilio returned Gabagool’s glare in kind, tossing a half-assed one in Teddy’s direction, too, just to cover all his bases. “I am not ‘going through’ anything,” he mumbled irritably. “And I do not have a bully-able face. I don’t think that’s a real word.” A bold accusation coming from someone who hardly spoke English, but he was pretty sure he was right.
The demon came and placed himself on the floor beside his chair, and Emilio eyed him warily for a moment before determining that he wasn’t looking to cause problems. He did seem to be looking for seconds, and Emilio kept his eyes locked on the demon’s as he shoveled the sizable chunk of meat on his fork into his mouth, just to be contrary. He chewed intently and swallowed, the food settling like a stone in his stomach. Worth it, just to piss off the demon a little more. “I don’t want my apartment smelling like cookies. I have a business here, you know. Businesses do not smell like cookies.” Or maybe they did; it wasn’t as if Emilio was a successful businessman.
With a sigh, he lifted the still mostly-full plate off the table and set it in the floor in front of Gabagool, expression warning the demon not to mention it lest the food be taken away. Unsurprisingly, the slayer wasn’t very hungry after all. With that out of the way, he turned in his chair to face Teddy. “The dog walker’s a kid,” he offered. “Won’t let me give her food or anything without doing something for me, so I let her walk the dog. She’s stubborn.” As if he had any room to talk. “Look, man, let me get you a beer, at least. Can I do that? To say thanks for keeping me from tossing that thing out the window.” He inclined his head towards Gabagool.
“I’m in my Shakespeare era. Making up words, inspiring people, not giving a shit about gender roles. The uszhe.” Teddy grinned before standing with a dramatic flourish. They put the very last of the lines on the floor, lit the candles and began the chant. It was an ancient language, bending it to the very modern will of a young demon just starting to fledge themselves on half-baked rites was tricky. But they’d perfected these small enchantments one by one. Lots and lots of trial and error. Teds wasn’t even sure Leviathan knew how much they’d done. Certainly not on the boat, certainly not why. A careful secret they kept, and yet another reason to keep the little gossip as pleased and happy as possible.
The fabric of time and space seemed to waver, the apartment all at once felt like it was swirling in on itself and expanding out into the farthest reaches of the void. Just for a split second. Light poured around the demon and bled along the chalk until it became one with the wood below. Somehow Teddy didn’t think Emilio would be getting any security deposits back anyway, so it’s not like this would fuck up that situation. Besides, a place like this, what could it possibly be? Twenty bucks and a sticker?
Everything settled back into place, and Teddy was fairly confident no one outside of the room would be any wiser to it. But the ritual had worked, they could feel the way the magic pulled and pushed around them. Powerful, like a newly plugged in air freshener. Teddy’s joint pain eased away, they sighed contentedly, then turned back towards the table to catch the very end of Gabs gobbling up everything on Emilio’s plate. “I’d take a beer, sure.” They pretended not to notice. They wouldn’t push it. Maybe Emilio still somehow thought Teddy was out to poison him. Like demons used arsenic instead of salt to season their lamb. “She sounds like a mini you. Where’d you find a kid like that, hiding in a dumpster?”
Finishing the food on the plate he’d been offered, Gabagool resisted the urge to make an annoyed face at Emilio, true to its word to be nicer. Instead, he just got to his little feet, sneezed loudly, and trotted out of the kitchen, leaving the other two alone.
He wondered if their conversation might take a more interesting turn if he wasn’t present—not that it hadn’t been interesting already. Plenty left unsaid. Plenty said that would require picking apart and digesting… maybe while the badalisc digested all that lamb. With a grunt, he hopped up onto the lumpy couch beside Perro and turned on the spot a few times before laying down, using the dog’s rear end as a pillow. He didn’t drift off to sleep, though, instead keeping one ear cocked toward the kitchen, curious about the nature of this relationship.
“I don’t know what this means,” Emilio sighed. The phrase felt like a familiar one, like he was in a constant state of not understanding. He felt like that a lot, with Teddy. They were so vibrant sometimes, rattling on and on about things Emilio never quite grasped. It wasn’t a bad feeling the way it had been in the beginning, though. Strangely, Teddy seemed to explain every time they noted Emilio’s confusion. Maybe it wasn’t as much fun rambling when the person you were rambling to couldn’t follow. That explanation, he thought, made far more sense than the idea that Teddy cared whether or not Emilio was confused.
He watched with some interest as the demon finished whatever it was he was doing, sending the apartment into a brief state of chaos before everything settled. Emilio had very little experience with magic. Some hunters worked with spellcasters, but the Cortezes had never been among them. Even if they had, Teddy’s magic certainly wasn’t that of a spellcaster. It was something all its own.
When they were finished, some of the old aches and pains that lived in the hunter’s bones seemed to retreat. His leg hurt a little less, his muscles loosened. The badalisc decided to fuck off, too, which seemed an unrelated but appreciated bonus. Moving around Teddy, Emilio made his way over to the fridge to retrieve two beers. “Actually, yeah. Found her in a dumpster.” He popped both bottles open and offered one to Teddy.
It felt like an olive branch. A cold peace treaty in a bottle, signed in ink by the markings now etched into his floor. They weren’t friends; Emilio doubted they’d ever be that. But they could get along if they tried to. Maybe that could be worth something, bad first impressions aside.
