I think people get so caught up in hating things, that they can’t appreciate any commentary on that thing. I hate HP too, but that doesn’t mean that Rowling is the only person that gets to write about magic schools. Misfits and Magic seasons are my favorite, because of how dear HP was to me as a kid.

i don't know how long a gap there is between episodes. but how long did she have to create a player has died mechanic?? how long did she have to rewrite this island to make sure it could bring evan back to life????? how did she have fulfilling answers to everyone's questions when they're all so different and broad and needed meaningful answers?????

I feel like a lot of reasoning I've seen for shipping Sam and Evan is weirdly focused on how K was a bad partner and Sam would be better. You know you don't HAVE to ship Evan with someone right?

there are two monsters inside of me: one that desperately wants to watch the new mismag2 pilot that came out last night while I was out of town at a concert and the OTHER which wants to finish at least a coherent hook and characterization for the alt s1 timeline I started writing earlier this week. HELP

i'm sure this isn't unpopular but i found k's arc in mismag s1 very cliche and annoying. i guess they were trying to subvert something that was already subversive, and they didn't realize they ended up right back where they started, reinforcing the status quo idea that being frilly pink and girly is better and more natural than alternative styles. like congratulations you remade the breakfast club by mistake

K's style is still alternative, it just rejects popular femininity less. You can still be alt and dress in pink. Femininity + alternative styles is like, Babymetal's whole thing

Thinking about when in mismag s1 they were learning to ride their brooms and Sam asks Jammer to say something nice about Evan, and even though he lands on calling him Shaq Diesel, at first he calls him Paul Pierce because wherever he is on the field you know something is going to happen and it's going to work, finishing that statement with saying that Evan is The Truth.

i have one theory from episode 1 of mismag s2 and it's that EVAN is (surprisingly) the one who initiated the breakup with k. erika narrated k as being "unexpectedly single" which suggests they were not the one to dump evan! and k was much more visibly anxious about seeing evan than evan apparently was at seeing them. evan loves to belong so it would be a neat narrative twist for him to be the one who left, and i think it would make sense if what k said in the holiday special about not staying together with your high school partner forever got in his head. but ultimately, i'd be really excited if he ended it for some reason that was related to setting HEALTHY EMOTIONAL BOUNDARIES (in regards to their constant conversations in s1) or maybe because he was concerned with how deeply k has been embedding themself in the internet.

personally i wouldn't be opposed to them getting back together, but my priority (which i have no doubt that erika and brennan will deliver on) is watching them act out their fraught interpersonal web and ultimately coming to a cathartic conclusion that creates a new bedrock for a healthier dynamic between them

the differences between aabria, matt, and brennan in their approach to letting their players interact with their worlds have been haunting me

because matt and brennan will create a world that is so rich and vibrant, with lush descriptions and magical world building that makes it seem so lived in and of course people are there even though they don’t take the time to describe them

but aabria makes her games filed with people, with so many varying personalities that make it seem so so so real that they instead populate the landscape. which is then reinforcing everything the NPCs are doing in her games. there are people first and then the world which revolves around them. it’s why when her NPCs have actual reactions to the players (Wuvvy in ACOFAF, Teedles/Oliver at the beginning of Burrow’s End and Sybil discovering the secrets with them, even Boudicca at the end of MisMag s1), it makes everything so much more fucking compelling

It's time you know, MisMag fandom: I've been a Sam x Evan truther since s1. And I've made two count 'em TWO (2) collages about them so far (one hasn't seen the light of tumblr yet... the base drawing has a gnarly arm to get fixed...) and you BET I'm making more. Life is long and my day job is hard, as many collages as I can make for personal happiness I shall make!
