The appeal of Mithrun/Milsiril for me is 50% the idea of this extremely slow burn of two people that at first glance seemed completely opposites, with she seeing him as being so beautiful and perfect and everything she wasn’t that ended up with her hating him and avoiding his attempts of getting close to her, and Milsiril only realizing that inside they were actually so similar when he seemed completely unreachable and incapable of making human connections anymore. And for Mithrun there is this woman he used to sort of looked down before but that was so pivotal in all these huge moments of his life, being the one who rescued him and the one that made him realize that he did still want to live after all. It’s about the missed opportunities and unexpected help. It’s about healing, growing and the potential of human connection after thinking there was no more hope for anything of that kind. 

and the other 50% is the hilarity of Kabru’s absolute horror at the idea of Mithrun fucking his mom.

I took a gander at your ship chart and, oh my God, I NEED to know your thoughts on Mithrun and Misiril

ok my favorite thing about them is sHE FUCKING HATED HIM HDHSHDH he was some charming fuckboy. And she was not having any of it.

And then she saw how much more was going on with him than she’d realized when they found him in the dungeon. She came to pity him… but also clearly developed a sort of fondness for him when she helped rehabilitate him for like, a decade or something.

I find it really interesting!! They start off so messy and toxic with a lot of unspoken tension, and somehow end up amicable and grateful for each other. It’s like that kid that pissed you off in middle school and meeting them again in high school, and realizing they’re pretty chill actually and you surprisingly get along well.

Also I think it’s reallyyyyyy funny for kabru to have to grapple with mithrun banging his mom.

milsiril/mithrun is really funny when you put kabru into perspective like.. discovering the middle aged man you had to take care for a bit in order to get ur friends back knew your mom and is now dating her. like what do you do then. wdym he was living in our attic! DID YOU FUCK MY MOM CAPTAIN?!!

kabru being like “oh, well i’m glad mom is making friends and whatever helps captain mithrun with forming new desires..i guess” (he’s stayed up for the past three days in distraught)

i think because he’s such an observer he probably notices the little things before they say anything to him. like when mithrun and milsiril are spending and awfully amount of time together. they’re always sitting or standing really close to each other. they have a habit of touching each others arm or putting a hand on each others back. he offers her help around the house and in the kitchen. he’s getting to know her kids. when they’re baking something together and mithrun gets a bit of batter on his face so she softly cups his cheek wipes it off for him.

and he’s like ah hah captain mithrun and my mom r getting awfully close and touchy... oh surely not….

also side note: most of these aren’t always romantic in nature and i think since milsiril originally helped mithrun during his rehabilitation, closeness and being touchy probably isn’t that weird for them. but it’s obviously a bit more and to kabru he’s like hmmmmm. ALSO! it’s kinda crazy to imagine mithrun realizing he’s CRAVING her touch again. post canon at least.. but that’s just a side thought!

anyways, he pretty much figures it out himself before they have the chance to tell him. and one day (or maybe at dinner idfk) milsiril with mithrun slightly behind her is like kabru dear we have something to tell you and he’s like ohmygoddd.

The appeal of MiruMisu / Mithmil is honestly like seeing two collegemates have their college drama and tension due to their personalities.

Then the incident happens that brings out something new and one helps take care of the other until they separate paths.

Then have them round back up together as more older adults and this time it's different. And they'll perhaps be less resentful of the world.

And Kabru has to deal with all that

While I do think eventually Kabru would be okay with Mithrun and Milsiril dating, I think that at first he would have some regrets over encouraging Mithrun to discover new desires if one of these desires turns out to be a desire to fuck his mom (understandable)
