Hello! Could you maybe write some friendship headcanons for Glorfindel and Ecthelion? I always see a lot of fanart, but there isn’t a lot of written info or fanfics about their friendship

“I admit I coulddo with a cup of tea,” Glorfindel said, settling himself down at the sofa.“It’s a lovely afternoon for tea—and for a game of chess, I’d wager.”

“You want tocompete against me in chess?” Ecthelion grinned as he set the teacups down onthe coffee table.

“Why, yes,”Glorfindel grinned right back. “It’s been a very long time since we played agame together.”

“You never beatme during your first life, don’t expect you’ll beat me in your second,”Ecthelion teased. He produced a chess board from somewhere under the table andmade space to put it on it. “But if you insist on being humiliated, then so beit.”

“I will need tolose to be humiliated, Ecthelion,” Glorfindel pointed out. “And I am notplanning on losing today.”

“Perhaps you’renot planning on it,” Ecthelion chuckled, “but that doesn’t mean it’s not whatwill happen nonetheless.”

“A little bittoo confident in your own abilities, my friend?” Glorfindel was setting up theboard, but he paused in his movements to look up and smirk at the other elf.

“I’m never moreconfident in my abilities than I should be,” Ecthelion replied easily. “Wouldn’thave killed that many balrogs if I never believed I could.”

“Oh, are lyingnow?” the blonde asked. “Believe in yourself and you will succeed in yourtrials…Remember, you’re not the only one who fought a balrog,” he gestured tohimself. “Nothing like the real thing.”

“I suppose thatis true,” Ecthelion allowed. “Black or white?”

“White, if youdon’t mind.”

“Of course. You’llneed all the help you can get.”

“Overconfidenceagain,” Glorfindel sing-sang.

“We’ll just haveto see about that,” Ecthelion grinned. “Your move, my friend,” he said as hefinished adjusting the pieces. “Choose wisely—not that it’ll make a differenceon the outcome,” he was quick to add. “But you can hope.”

“Hope alwaysdies last, isn’t that what they say?” Glorfindel laughed. “And let the gamebegin!” he said and moved one of the soldiers to the center.
