A.B.A gets jealous of other couples (she stalked them in public spaces from afar) who are more lovey dovey than her and Paracelsus. So to "spice" things up, she reads dating and romance tips on a (stolen) teen magazine that suggests those shoddy dating ideas and boasting to others that they're the end game (Paracelsus and others feels awkward as she says this).

After their arcade mode story, Paracelsus begins to feel guilt about having to manipulate A.B.A to wield him as a blood thirsty weapon. He knew A.B.A doesn't have hate in her heart, and saw how loving she actually is without her possessive traits. One example is when she polishes his brass parts after battle. She also tries to prop him in a comfortable position when at rest because she feels bad that he isnt mobile like she is.

Paracelsus admits, although not in a romantic way (sadly), that A.B.A is beautiful in her own way despite the uncanny nature of her origin. He says this in the most vague and bleakest way possible, yet A.B.A hyperventilated when she hears this.

Because of Paracelsus' statement on her beauty, she doesn't mind not fitting in with humans because his encouragement is all what she needed.

Let's say that A.B.A is considered attractive in their universe, minus the eye bags and the unkempt look- if someone ever compliments her in the slightest (grim extent is someone cat calls her) by a stranger, she would feel like she betrayed her husband for catching someone's eye. Mixture of frustration, shame, timidness, and anger would flow into her that she ultimately resorts to violence as a solution to the incomprehensible feeling. Paracelsus on the other hand would probs feel disgusted at the stranger's rude behavior, justifying his wife's violent outburst (ah yes, toxicity)

If another girl/woman compliments her though, she would be confused and scared as to why they would do such and not go after her husband. Because of her timid nature, she isn't used to hear positive things from others up until Elphelt (lol)

A.B.A's favorite color is blue, probs because she read somewhere or thought it's the calmest color. Blue in nature (partaining to animals) is usually rare, so it could also signify that she's drawn to things that are unique. (Or I could be wrong. I'm probably am--)

Speaking of the color blue, A.B.A attempted to dye her hair blue, but because of her vivacious red hair before, it resulted into greenish color (I know some fans theorize that her hair oxidized bc of her unusual body composition, but I wanna lean on the fact that she tries to fit in the outside world).

Paracelsus inspired her into liking color blue when he was talking about his past travels (at the risk of making A.B.A envy his previou's wielders ofc)

A.B.A was born with impeccable knowledge, thus explains why she speaks in such an authoritative manner. However since she lived in isolation for the first 10 years of her life, she does not know how humans speak in modern day. Paracelsus told her stories and spoke about philosophies only demons have access to.

Regarding small humans (as A.B.A likes to call the children), she wondered what it was like to grow up from a helpless being to a capable one, often lamenting that she hadn't had a literal childhood like a normal being. To cheer her up, Paracelsus suggested that their next date is at the park where there are swings and see-saws. Up to you how that's gonna work out lol

Actually A Kind, Considerate Adult To A Stressed and Traumatized Child

Lara- Lara is hands down the best adult in this entire game. She’s kind, understanding, and patient with Clara. She never insults her, and even when Clara is being a bit snooty, she still treats her gently. She also literally has a line where she points out that Clara is a child struggling with an immense burden. She calls attention to the fact that she’s just a kid, which NOBODY ELSE DOES.

“Poor thing, I’m so sorry for you. I wouldn’t want to carry your burden.”

It can kinda be read as pity, but pity is better than the cruelty and ignorance to her situation most of the others give her.

Also she has the one voice like where she’s like, “Poor child, she’s so tired” in reference to Clara.

The Tragedians and Executors- Idk if these guys can count, but they’re here anyway. They’re always so nice to Clara, calling her little pet names and explaining stuff to her in a kind way. They talk to her like how adults talk to young children, which she is. And it’s wild how these bitches beat THE ENTIRETY OF THE WHOLE CAST, minus Lara.

A Good Adult

Oyun- I actually cannot believe this guy is this high.

Surprisingly, he’s actually pretty nice to Clara. If not nice, then very respectful. He treats her like a queen.

Rubin- He’s chill with her 👍 (if i remember correctly)

Yulia- Similar to Rubin, she’s chill toward Clara, minus, I think, one little offhand comment that’s kind of rude. But compared to what some of the bitches below say to her, it may as well be a compliment.

Decent But Has Their Moments

Artemy- So, I feel like Artemy is very neutral toward Clara. There is that part in the Changeling route where he sends her a letter where he threatens to kill her, BUT that only happens if you rat out his location to Daniil, so it’s not a set event that always happens.

He speaks to her very curtly, and you can get the sense that he’s probably annoyed by her presence, but he’s not outwardly verbally abusing her unlike others.

If this were a ranking based on P2 interactions, however, he would be WAY LOWER because jfc, he is SO MEAN to Clara.

Daniil- So, he was actually lower at first, but then I saw some really good posts talking about how he cares for Clara in his own way (giving her money, keeping her in the Stillwater, worrying over her)—even if they are a little unconventional.

However, that doesn’t erase the fact that he is still pretty awful to her at times. I mean, he literally threatens to kill her twice, one of which happened when he first met her.

I love the “Daniil is a reluctant father figure to Clara” so much, but I also don’t think he would be any higher than this.

Also, like Artemy, if this were for interactions in P2, he would absolutely be lower.

Neutral

Olgimsky- I think he and Clara talk exactly two (2) times, and both interactions are short and don’t really do anything for the story (if i remember correctly). Also I don’t think they give af about each other at all.

Bad Grief- Neutral. I could have put him higher, actually. He seemed actually kind of nice.

Eva- Same with Bad Grief. Her interaction with Clara wasn’t hostile at all.

Victor- I’ll be real with y’all- I don’t remember them talking 😭

Not A Good Adult

Maria- She’s my second favorite character in the whole game (just behind Clara ofc), but even I can’t deny how cruel she is to Clara. She is SO MEAN.

Aspity- I actually had no idea where to put her. At first, she was in the “decent” section, but that didn’t seem right. Then she was in “Neutral,” but that didn’t seem right, either. Finally, I just decided to put her here. Because, looking back on their interactions, they were pretty hostile.

I don’t think Aspity liked Clara. A lot of the things she said to Clara were either vaguely threatening or directly threatening.

Anna Angel- She was so rude to Clara in the Haruspex route when Clara came running to her house, crying, on Day 6. Also I remember her making shots at Clara often.

Georgiy- Literally threatened to kill Clara the moment he met her. Enough said.

Mark- I remember this bitch ass being snappy with her. Which is good enough for me.

Vlad Jr.- This dude isn’t necessarily mean, but I do remember him being weirdly fanatical toward Clara. He spoke to her like she wasn’t a child but rather someone to be idolized.

Peter- He also wasn’t rude, but I just felt very uncomfortable every time he talked to her. He didn’t speak to her like a child but rather an adult. And yeah, a lot of people did that, but he was just so creepy to me. He acted like she was a goddess or something. It really rubbed me the wrong way.

Block- This may be a bit of an unpopular opinion, but I just can’t put this guy anywhere but here.

Yes, he was kind to her, but he also idolized her, which is just…Not Very Good. Also he fully tries to bring her to war?? If you say no when he first makes the offer, he literally ignores her and keeps going on about it which is a huge red flag.

Horrible Fucking Person

Andrey- I can’t stand this guy. Y’all don’t understand how deep my hatred for him goes. But this spot isn’t even a biased decision he is, SO CRUEL. The way he screams in Clara’s face when she went to his bar?? And yeah, he’s kinda right in some sense, she isn’t old enough to fully understand what she’s doing, but that is not her fault in any way. The blame should fall upon Katerina for making her run around indoctrinating people, not her. And he shouldn’t have yelled at a little girl, spewing insults at her, because at that point, his argument is meaningless when it directly attacks her.

He’s terrible. I hate him.

Aglaya- Basically every word she spoke to Clara felt like a shotgun blast to the chest and had my jaw on the FLOOR. I was not expecting the sheer disgust and hatred she had toward this child.

As such, I have compiled a short list of some of the things she said to Clara:

1. Calls her a “dim, pathetic creature”

2. Calls her insane and deranged

3. Accuses her of having a split personality disorder and being schizophrenic

4. “Prohibits her from existing”

The Saburovs- I could go on about how horrible these guys are. Not even just as people, but as parents, too.

also brocedes parents they're the true childhood sweethearts like met when they were kids and grew up together and finally began dating when they were highschool (angry love confession during a school dance where lewis finally says fuck it because nico looks so lovely and happy and why isn't she with him, if you have seen 'flipped'). they graduate, get rich(er in nico's case, monaco princess ah well), get married, have two adorable demonic children and live happily ever after. georgie adored their love story growing up and secretly wanted what they had. only lando knew about the almost life long crush that she had on alex albon, their own childhood bff. only lando knew how heartbroken she was when he responded 'ha, never in your wildest dreams' to someone joking about georgie and alex together. it made her feel undesirable and she felt lost about love because it was kind of the only kind she felt she knew.

so when georgie starts dating max it worked in a way she didn't anticipate but was better than anything she imagined. - xoxo angst anon

Chuck and Blair if you take out literally all of the terrible things they do before and after they get together.

Brocedes are actually so flipped coded. Nico who meet Lewis when they were extremely young and fell for him immediately (baby Nico angrily huffing because Seb is talking to her Lewis >:( )though Lewis doesn’t feel the same and they get separated for a little and are reunited in high school when Nico starts questioning her long time crush on Nico just as Lewis is starting to realize his feelings for Nico. (Cue the winter formal and Lewis angrily huffing cause Jenson is dancing with Nico. His Nico >:( and he interrupts the dance and drag Nico away and finally does his whole angry confession and “cause you looking fucking stunning and your dancing with him when you should be with me!” >:(((( ) and they start dating and finally everything perfect minus that very small massive incident in college where they split up for a bit but everything is perfect and they grow up rich as hell and get a massive house and have two gremlin children

And Georgie fell in love with the story growing up. Her parent were always her idea romance and she always dreamed of having a love like theirs. So when she meet a young Alexander Albon in primary school she falls for hard him and she spend her whole youth being in love with Alex and just kind of assume that their going to be the perfect childhood friend to lover story like her parents. So when he kind of publicly (not realizing she can hear him) responds like that to the idea of being with her her world shatters (she ofc ends up in a car with Max going well over the speed limit because drowning your problems in alcohol and reckless driving is always the solution)

And in the end she falls for Max. Max who she met only 3 years after Alex. Max who she’s known for practically forever. Max who she hated near immediately after she met him. Max who’s been there through so much of her life she can’t really remember a time he wasn’t thereMax who she loves more than anything now.

I just think George looking for his childhood romance in Alex only to find it in Max is kinda neat :)

appearance three; youre in control: also justified, in a different way. lets see some context in why tko was so pissed off- he was constantly being put on the verge of getting in control, constantly insulted by dendy in order to quote on quote "help".

while i cant be fully mad at dendy, she is literally kos age and a child, i cannot say that for rad, enid, and the rest of the adults who were trying to "help". children dont tend to understand social boundaries as others do. but older ppl have no excuse.

tko helped protect the plaza from boxman jr. he might have went a tad bit too far, but thats most likely due to him LITERALLY BEING PUSHED TO THE ABSOLUTE LIMIT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE.

appearance four; tkos house: ya uh he literally does nothing wrong in this episode minus for being his asshole kid self. him and ko couldve cooperated sooner, but both of them were at fault for not agreeing with each other.

in the end, they worked together to beat the one guy who they both hates ass. ggs wp.

why does it take so long for updates to come out when they're usually so short? (not judging ofc, i understand youre busy and also a full-time mom, i was just curious if there was a specific reason)

I'm not sure what you mean by "taking so long to come out" when I release updates consistently every month (with the exception of August, when I took the month off to rest) but I'm going to take this in good faith as a genuine question and give you a genuine answer.

being busy and a full-time parent are the specific reasons that sometimes my updates are very small. I don't know if you're a parent, but taking care of young children 24/7 is exhausting. couple that with the fact that I have chronic migraines, have a private life outside of Speaker that I don't talk about on here, and that I write as a hobby, not as a career, and sometimes I just don't have time to write large updates.

there's also coding to take into account. for every thousand words I write, most people will only see a third of it, because that's the manner of interactive fiction. the character customization section in chapter 3 took almost two straight weeks of coding in literally every second of free time I had. the profile page updates from this month took so much work they literally gave me tendonitis in my wrist.

since I started writing Speaker in September 2020, I've written 172,134 words. Dividing that by 14 months (15 minus August, which as I said before was a vacation month), that averages 12,297 words a month, and that doesn't include coding, edits, answering asks, weekly progress updates, or patreon extras, not to mention the work I've also done on Partially Stars. I'd say that's pretty goddamn impressive for something I'm doing for free, for fun.

So when they moved to their chamber to consummate their marriage he, probably in a attempt to protect his heart and pride from another hit, tells her that she doesn't have to do it if she doesn't want to - cause everything she had done this very day only serves to tell him that she doesn't really love him all that much, and no one ever will, like no one ever had.

And what does she do in that moment? What does she do when a clearly very vulnerable and very nervous virgin lonely boy shows that he thinks that not even his wife would be willing to love him?? She gets mad at him!! She screans at him for not knowing what to do something he has never done before, for not falling to his knees and throwing his whole heart at the woman who has scorned at his previous displays of affection.

But she goes for it anyway. And at this point he was probably so insecure - it's his first and she is already making him feel wrong and incompetent - that accepts it. He allows himself to recieve whatever love and pleasure she can give him.

And then... she pulls out last second. God, that must have stung so bad on his pride. She is his wife. But she won't even consider the possibility of bearing his children. She, without thinking, refused to carry his lineage. She is not committed to him yet. In her mind she is not here to stay.

When danger keeps escalating, he puts above everything! He chooses her above his land, above his people, about his brother, above his own life!! He puts literally everything at risk to keep her. He makes conceptions, bends to her wishes, go through hell and back for her.

And the girl is still unable to appreciate or even recognize his love??

To make things worse following days she is laying by his side, but it's not his name that she calls in her dreams (as given in a previous spoiler). Not only is she trying to changing him, but he is very aware that she is trying to mold him into a copy of the men she never forgot. It's not about him that she is worried. It's not him that she cares about. It's not to him that heart belongs.

I am so sad for him and so mad at oc right now. I will talk about her an see her side in another moment, I can't right now cause I wouldn't be able to extend her any sympathy in this moment. I am going through it from Tyuns pov now.

we're on people's case in this story for being rape apologists but they're all a product of their time and it shows even in oc who doesn't take into account that tyun could be nervous about this because he's a man right? men don't get nervous about sex. gyu certainly wasn't so that must mean that he doesn't want her. ofc it's not the same level as rape justification but yk

No. I’m sorry, just... no. For one, you say it would’ve been fine if WWX hadn’t made a big deal of asking where they were; how was he supposed to know where they were, then? People were dying, he didn’t exactly have the time it would take to make quiet inquiries or search for them on his own! Searching would take months, and any attempt to find out where they were from the Jins would make it pretty obvious that he was planning something! And yeah, sure, the people who literally just escaped from a prison camp where they were being starved and tortured and only have whatever rags the camp gave them are “literally just villagers”. I’m sure they wouldn’t stand out at all. I’m sure when the Jins come looking for their escaped prisoners no one will remember these people who showed up at the appropriate time looking like escaped prisoners with no money or clothes! It won’t even be worth mentioning! And of course that’s assuming the Jins don’t have... y’know, descriptions of their prisoners? And even to get to these far-flung villages, you’re taking fifty people weakened by months of hard labour and torture, at least some of whom are either elderly or very young, and expecting them to travel for who knows how long alone with no food or money or protection (reminder that the Wen remnants have exactly two combatants among them) while being hunted by the Jins? Most of them probably wouldn’t even make it!

As for the argument that the Jins won’t bother looking for them if they’re not obvious... Well, I can think of a couple reasons why the Jins would want to reclaim the evidence that they’ve been torturing civilians including the elderly and children under the guise of them being enemy combatants, can’t you? I think the Jins would be just a little concerned with recapturing the Wen remnants! So no, it would not be as simple as just splitting them up after escaping the prison camp and no amount of name changes would make it easier.

Mizuko and Cimon seem like the chillest kids out of the lot I won’t lie, minus Najjad ofc! They’re literally just swimming and sleeping and I kinda love that, which of the kids are the most dangerous/volatile to the least dangerous do you think? Sorry I just loved the idea so much!! ✨

Children of the Dark: Danger Rankings

Ismene: She is both highly skilled and incredibly volatile. She was taught magic from a young age, and picked it up quickly, easily becoming one of the most well-taught sorcerers alive. Unlike her father, Ismene’s rage is not in check, so she could be smiling directly at you but still burn the house down with her anger and hardly notice. She presents herself very sweetly, but she has a complete lack of empathy.

Lilith: She is the most well trained of all of the cousins. Incredibly controlled, incredibly deadly. Lilith shows herself to be poised and proper at all times. However, she ranks below Ismene in danger because of that lack of volatility. Lilith always presents herself well, but she is hellbent on destroying any vestige of humanity in herself so that she can rise beside her father as one of the greatest demons to ever live.

Akuji: He is rarely dangerous on purpose, with an easy going nature and calm outlook. Because of his human side, there are stretches of time where he’s actually quite pleasant to be around! The problem is that Beel’s genes come out randomly and uncontrolled, so there is always a very present risk that in the middle of your game of Scrabble, he will become desperately hungry, and eat anything nearby... including you.

Mizuko: He is not very volatile, but is desperate to claw his way up in the world. He feels most confident and calm in the water, but that is also where he is most dangerous. If he wants you dead, good luck. Mizuko was raised by the man who runs Hell’s Navy, and he is incredibly skilled. Because of MC’s influence though, he is also more compassionate than the other children.

Najjad: He has all of the anger and desire to fight in the world, but none of the skills or training that comes with being raised by the Sins. He is very volatile, but until he figures out what he is doing, not as dangerous as most of his cousins.

Bellerose: She is captivating, and very likely to corrupt your soul beyond recognition. However, Bellerose is more emotional than her father, and not prone to physical violence unless necessary. So, while you may spend eternity in Hell after falling for her, you probably won’t die during the encounter.

Cimon: While he is dangerous awake, and very in tune with his father, he is usually asleep. You can avoid most situations with him by just leaving him alone. The ease with which you can stay alive and uncorrupted puts Cimon at the bottom of the rankings.

ive never talked about dogfather sirius, actually!! what an interesting pair of questions.... i would have to say a qualified yes to both?

was sirius suited for the job: personality-wise, maybe not entirely (raising a child alone in the event of jily deaths would have been Rough, and he’s not exactly a stable parental unit, not to mention he would have spoiled harry rotten), BUT he has the most important prerequisite, which is undying love and loyalty for the potters and for harry, and that means he would have done everything in his power to be a good parent figure to him, which is what really matters, so. not to mention that jily realistically weren’t contemplating he would have to be godfather alone for the majority of harry’s life- with jily around he could have been just The Coolest Godfather Ever instead of harry’s first living parental figure who didn’t treat him like shit.

did he actually do a good job? i would say a resounding yes. bearing in mind he was stuck in azkaban for twelve years (let’s not get into that), we only actively see him godparent harry for three years (plus when he was a baby). obviously baby harry was spoilt v much by his dogfather; what we see of sirius + teen harry also speaks favourably of him, i think. ok, little bit of a rough start what with the unhinged prisoner vibe, but the FIRST thing sirius does when free is go check up on harry- and he keeps tabs via crookshanks etc once at school, knows his interests well enough to send him the firebolt, and he values harry’s opinions enough to not murder peter on the spot despite his thirteen year revenge vendetta. obviously, the fact harry is the spitting image of someone sirius hasnt seen except for in his nightmares for over a decade doesn’t hurt, but he’s just so awkwardly sweet to harry afterwards- when he offers harry to come live with him, expecting him to refuse and completely understanding of it, it’s so endearing (and it always broke my heart how excited they both were about it- i bet sirius was thinking about another time a potter asked to live together). and from the start sirius ALWAYS speaks to harry like a whole person, not a child to be kept in the dark (which, if everyone else had done, looking at you dumbledore...)- the speech he gives him before he escapes is so important for harry to hear, especially from someone who knew his parents. sirius is always so careful to tell harry things about james and lily. now, it’s not that sirius treating harry like an adult would be ideal on its own, and i do think in part the issue is that he skipped his entire childhood and harry looks so much like james, but i also don’t think sirius actually treats harry too much like a grown man, apart from slipups- just like a grown teen. he advises him against threats, tells him the edgy backstories harry SHOULD know (and no other adult ever wants to tell him), looks after him as best he can (HE LIVES IN A CAVE EATING BONES TO LOOK OUT FOR HIM), listens to his teen melodrama. even when he’s fucking up by encouraging harry’s risk-taking i don’t think he’s treating him like an adult- he’s treating him like a *marauder*, because at that age, that’s what he or james would have done; being able to make informed choices is what sirius would have wanted at his age. i don’t think molly or sirius necessarily have the better argument- both make good points; sirius gets what harry wants and molly gets what harry might need even if he doesn’t want it, but that makes perfect sense- molly is an older woman who’s raised seven children, and sirius is in his early thirties and lived with kids for (1) year. james and sirius were order members by age /eighteen/ and sirius was in azkaban at /twenty-one/- he was basically a kid HIMSELF before he got put in the torture prison. i always found it so unfair that literally none of the other adults ever mention the debilitating mental issues he must be suffering from- remember the lifelong PTSD hagrid got from a MONTH there???- and that’s without even mentioning dumbledore’s purposeful exacerbating of them. not to say that mental health excuses poor parenting, but sirius both /isn’t a parent/ and really does very well at filling that role anyways, on the whole, so i think he can be cut some slack for once in his life. harry loves sirius SO MUCH and sirius loves him right back- and sirius teaches him some of the most important lessons in the whole series, even if he himself never managed to learn them- lessons that i really think shape the adult harry becomes, and the kind of lessons his parents might have taught him. so overall i’d give him kudos- and considering the absolute bullshit he’s living through, with james and lily dead, azkaban sucking the light out of him for over a decade, peter running free, and dumbledore QUARANTINING HIM IN THE HOUSE WHERE HIS ABUSIVE DEAD MOTHER IS (?!?!), i would say he does a stellar fucking job.

anyways harry & sirius’ relationship is so important to the series- even the GP was upset when sirius dies in OOTP, largely because everyone could see how bad it hit harry. that scene in dumbledore’s office? oof. they just care about each other so v much and we were robbed of a lifetime of sirius as harry’s absolute fav adult. if sirius had held onto harry that day- if dumbledore hadn’t decided to place him with abusive bigots for a plan which would only pay off by OOTP- i honestly think sirius would have outlived the series. because with harry he’d have been less unhinged by grief, able to testify properly, gotten support from other order members, not gone to azkaban- and with harry he would have had a reason to live. thirteen years of raising harry would have made harry the snarky little fucker he is at his core by age eleven, confident and happy and very good at quidditch indeed; thirteen years would have made sirius as whole as he can get. they would have patched things up with remus. there’d be no OOTP tragedy of errors. sirius would have punched dumbledore at some point. harry would have sent a pic of him and his new friends over week 1 of hogwarts and sirius would have punched through a wall and then calmly strolled over to hogwarts and taken ron’s pet rat over to minerva mcgonnagal, where unspeakable things happened to it. he would have gently butted heads with hermione (but won her over via crookshanks if nothing else) and gotten on very well with ron; snape would barely have been able to be such a dick to him because sirius would have gleefully sent him howlers for every minute of his day until he cracked. lucius on the school board terrorizing the other parents? not on sirius “billionaire heir to the toujours pur line” black’s watch- he’d happily invest even more obnoxious wealth into the school fund to get first call, not to mention lucius’ imperius excuse would not get very far with sirius around. “who’s nicholas flamel? we can’t ask adults- we’d get in trouble with the teachers and our parents are either muggles or wouldn’t know- oh wait nevermind, sirius, who’s nicholas flamel?” no more expelliarmus-ing for four years; harry Trained Duellist By Age 11 more like. dobby the house-elf? oi dobby sirius is family too- now spit it all out, won’t you? chamber of secrets? yeah, sirius knows what that is. parseltongue? yeah, sirius is familiar, and fuck those other kids for being weird to harry about it, does he want to come home for the holidays? weird creepy diary? oh, sirius’ family will have Magicke Moste Evile around somewhere. book 3 is just Harry’s Holiday: The Book because there’s no sirius subplot. you think snape would have dared treat remus the way he does with sirius hovering around paying half his checks? i think the fuck not. you bet your ass they had box seats for the whole of gryffindor house at the Quidditch World Cup. barty crouch? yeah, sirius knows THAT asshole- and remembers his son. catch harry whizzing through all the challenges minus the nerves ahead of time while sirius and remus do half the investigating for him. yule ball? no sweat, just go with ron; that’s what james and sirius would have done. if the maze went the way it goes in the books, “moody” wouldn’t even have been able to drag harry off without sirius intervening. and sirius “ptsd” black would have been The One Person who Got harry’s feelings in OOTP- not to mention sirius Skilled Legilimens black could have coopted that shit from snape and gotten harry up to scratch. sirius-raised-harry would have given umbridge twice as much shit. no kreacher lying here- and harry has sirius’ mirror anyways. so no massive drama in the ministry, and no suicidal recklessness / desperate first taste of freedom on sirius’ part means no veil incident even if they got there. hence book six through seven going Quite Differently. sirius shows up book six to be DADA teacher, why not. him and remus think it’d be funny, and besides he’s petty enough to steal the job from snape. move over firenze, new hot teacher in town. half the books are avoidable.

Stobin Shipping (ST3)

Hello all!

I’ve been debating whether or not to post this because conflict and confrontation make me physically ill and I’m not usually one to start anything of any sort that would invite such a thing.

I’m not writing this post to invite such a thing either, but unfortunately, I don’t think I can post this opinion without getting a lot of hate. I wouldn’t even be putting my voice out here unless something big happened, which has.

So, here goes.

Stobin is a ship from the 3rd season of Stranger Things featuring Steve Harrington, a character from every season, and Robin, a character introduced this season.

Steve and Robin work together at Scoops Ahoy and seem to be warily civil with each other in the beginning of the season. Various plot points drag them together, and eventually they bond and begin to grow warmer and friendlier with each other, a classic enemies to friends trope that is seen in many a fiction story. What usually comes next in this line of relationships is lovers or something synonymous. And we got a taste of it when Steve admitted his growing romantic feelings for Robin. Robin, however, turns him down because she is a lesbian. Steve is oblivious, then accepting and friendly with her from then on. There is absolutely no hope for them to ever be together in the show because she is a lesbian. I don’t want them to be together in the show because She. Is. A. Lesbian.

...Having said that, I feel slightly more comfortable approaching the purpose of this post.

A lot of people feel that it is homophobic/lesbophobic to still ship Stobin even after Robin came out to Steve, turning down his romantic advances. And I’m not going to tell you how to feel. I’m not in the business of doing that, because I’m not you and I don’t dictate your emotions or reactions. And honestly, if someone does still ship Stobin because they think it’s stupid that Robin is a lesbian and that she doesn’t “fit the bill” or they are just fucking homophobic, then fuck that guy. Because that’s not cool.

But. In my opinion, which is an opinion and not a fact, Fanfiction and shipping were made so fans can live out their non canon dreams.

I ship Stobin. Not because I think Robin being a lesbian is dumb or disgusting, or even because I wish she wasn’t a lesbian. Because I don’t wish that. I’m a lesbian. I was so fucking ecstatic when she turned out to be a lesbian! She is a cool, funny, complex character and she’s ours! Holy shit! YES! I honestly can’t wait for the writers to explore this in season 4 and give us all the sweet lesbian content I want.

Representation matters. I know that, and I feel that. I’m white- so I have had the privilege of being represented in the media my whole life. Hell, I remember when I first saw Beauty and the Beast, Belle immediately became my favorite princess because she had brown hair like me. I’ve also been lucky enough to grow up in an era where the LGBTQA+ community is slowly being accepted by society. I’ve also been lucky enough to have absolutely no issues in that area of my life. I’ve never been faced with prejudice in any way regarding my sexuality. I’m lucky, and I know I’m one of the few. So maybe Robin isn’t hitting me as hard as she is a lot of lesbians.

Don’t get me wrong, please, don’t get me wrong! She is a lesbian, I know this, and I never want that to change! If she and Steve got together in the show, I would be fuckin pissed! That is erasure! That is queer baiting! (I think that’s the term?) Her presence as a lesbian in this show is important because Stranger Things is set in the 80s, a very homophobic period in American history (which is true for all of American history through pretty much now for a lot of people). The fact that we have not just Robin but also Will- and both are accepted and still loved by their friends- is amazing and I have cried multiple times over it! If their presence in the show is of the utmost important to me, a lesbian who has faced zero kicks in the ass in her life, I can’t imagine how important she is to a lesbian who has faced every struggle in the world.

I believe, as I’ve stated, that fanfiction exists so fans may live out their non canon dreams. I ship Stobin because I thought their warm and fuzzy moments slowly building up throughout the season were very believable and they lit up the fan girl in me so fuckin quickly. “Yes!” I thought, “Steve is getting a romance again, and with arguably the coolest girl in the show!” And then she came out as a lesbian, which didn’t even phase me because I knew I could read fanfiction of Stobin to satisfy that whirlwind of fangirling emotions inside me that would never be satisfied canonically, which is completely okay with me.

That’s what fanfiction and shipping is to me. Satisfying my unmet fangirling needs. Am I mad about any of my unfulfilled ships? No! Absolutely not! Every fandom I am part of, I ship most ships in existence. I also ship Steve with Billy, Jonathan, Nancy, I’ve even read Steve and Kali (008) and enjoyed it! The thing about Robin is that, in season three, she only interacted with Steve and 2 children, and her and Steve had many faux romantic moments. I’ve read RobinxOFC and shipped the two! Hell, there’s this Haringrove fic with an OFC that I think she would be really cute with! I guarantee that as soon as she interacts with literally any female character, I will go buck fuckin wild. However, the in-depth character connection she has is Steve.

I know to a lot of you guys, these are just excuses, and I’m honestly very very sorry if I am hurting you in any way by continuing to ship them, completely apart from the canon, in the fics I read a write. I definitely would have kept my fuckin mouth to myself, but I noticed something quite alarming.

“Kill yourself”. Two words. Both simple words. Put together, they could destroy a life. They have many a time. I’ve been the target many times when I write a fic with a ship people don’t like. So alarming. So fucking alarming. Those words can do real damage. In real life. Not a fictional universe, such as the Stranger Things universe. But in real life. Now, I know that representation is so very fucking important, and I know that Robin is a lesbian. I support her as a lesbian and will accept no less in canon. Threatening another human’s life over respresentation in media isn’t okay, not in my books. Even if I didn’t ship Stobin and was as affected by it than a lot of you guys are, I would still be writing this post, just minus the explaining my view of Stobin and fanfiction in general. Because death threats, disturbing messages, and mocking one-off comments won’t get your point across. They’ll just root tour subject of hate more firmly into the ground and harm their psyche along the way.

It’s not worth it. Stranger Things is not worth it. Someone, a human being, in real life, could be hurt by careless, aggressive words. Over something that you could ignore so easily if you don’t support it. And I know that ignoring something you find abhorrent and a violation of human rights can be downright near impossible sometimes, but resorting to such terrible words just isn’t okay. Explain your side, debate, argue, don’t berate, don’t get furious. Or at least don’t let your fury turn you into a monster who threatens another human being’s life. Because doing that, saying those things? It’s monstrous.

I know this will get replies, and I’m not looking forward to it because confrontation, again, makes me hate my life. I don’t know if I properly expressed myself or if this came across at all how I wanted it to. Bottom line:

-Robin is a lesbian, I support her

-I got attached to the teased romance between her and Steve, so I will be reading fanfiction and imagining scenarios myself to satisfy my hunger

- I, personally, don’t think that makes me a bad person or a homophobe/lesbophobe for reasons I’ve listed above

- I sincerely apologize to anyone who is offended or hurt, that is truly not my intention

-I only opened my fat mouth about this because death threats and hostile behavior have been circling this ship and it crossed a line in my head

I’m sorry this is so long. @pelegringo is a blog I know has been experiencing a lot of these threats and I don’t know how many others have been dealing with it. I’m so sorry if my opinion is unwelcome, but I saw someone being hurt and couldn’t ignore it.

thoughts on the lions route, mostly negative

i think my least fave thing about the blue lions route is how Dimitri never seemed to care about making changes to Fódlan for the better (Edelgard wanted to revamp society and do away with nobility/crests, Claude wanted to open the borders and end discrimination), so ultimately the campaign’s goal was not to help the land but to maintain the status quo (which is proven over and over again to be NOT GOOD). 

looking at what Edelgard and Claude aimed to achieve, it makes it all the more frustrating because the lions route is neither about making changes for the future nor finding answers for the past, it’s simply about killing off whoever presents as Evil and letting the church continue to do whatever they want. and yet at the end everything inexplicably gets better!! despite no such goals ever being spoken of!! we don’t know HOW Dimitri plans to fix the broken crests system or end discrimination against what’s left of Duscur (much less Almyra), it just. kinda happens. because heroic ending and we killed the horrible evil emperor. yay look everyone is magically kinder and nicer and the world is fixed!!!! we don’t have a clear outlined blueprint of how Edel and Claude plan to enact their changes but at least we know they DO have a plan, because it’s their whole damn goal, and we come to trust their leadership and understand that they’ll do anything to achieve their dreams. Dimitri’s is just kinda... we’re supposed to assume he’ll fix everything because uhhhhhhhh idk.

and you’d think the lions route would be just as, if not more, concentrated in how fucked up the crests system is but there’s practically 0 mention of it outside of supports, it’s simply about Dimitri’s quest for revenge against Edelgard for something she didn’t even do and then something she plans to do— but ofc he doesn’t care to hear her side of things or understand what she aims to achieve, not to defend her merciless cruelty at all, but even Claude could admit that if Edelgard was less stubborn then they could have become close allies fighting for the same thing. they were both fucked up but i would say Dimitri is the worse one because he never cares what happens to Faerghus during his emo stint, he might as well have been climbing over the corpses of his own people with his obsession to kill Edelgard. 

and honestly that would have made him more compelling if he did such a thing! because for some reason he’s never actually in the wrong! he’s glorified to the point where it isn’t even a big deal that he blinded himself with revenge because we never actually see him doing truly reprehensible things— even the stuff about him threatening to mentally and physically torture Randolph is brushed off because WE NEVER GET TO LEARN MORE ABOUT RANDOLPH even in BE route and Fleche has as much personality as any other NPC rando so it’s like. why should we care about Dimitri literally torturing randos if they’re just randos?

so basically his redemption feels unearned because everyone always put 100% of their faith in him even during his feral phase, like he could have literally ripped the heads off of soldiers on the battlefield and put them on sticks outside of garreg mach’s walls and people would still be like “our king will return one day :))) we need to trust him :)))” and why would anyone trust someone so obsessed with violence and revenge to rule a kingdom that’s on the verge of collapse??? because of his birthright??? based on the exact system that ruined the lives of characters like Lysithea and Marianne and Sylvain??? 

(yes i know he was a sweet good precious prince before he went mad but like i said, BLIND FAITH)

in the end, things might as well have gone back to the way they were before the war (minus the Empire being around) with children being disowned by their families for not being born with crests. the church changing for the better is the one plausible thing because of Byleth becoming the new archbishop but aside from that? i bet nothing really changed.
