Re-did a song I recorded on my phone ages ago in Audacity and mixed it with my eyes closed while running. Lyrics under readmore :)
I took my hope to the coast And I let it free There’s something about The breeze out there I don’t know what I don’t care I don’t think that You know where
Is there something You wanna tell me? Is there Someone else? I don’t know what to say to you these days Because I’m gone

Our artist of the week: Flatbush Zombies!
Our artist of the week: Flatbush Zombies!
This week our artist of the week is the trio rap group Flatbush Zombies. The American Hip Hop group comes from Brooklyn New York where they were formed in 2010. The artist in the group are rappers Meechy Darko, Zombie Jice and Erick Arc Elliot. Elliot as well as a rapper being their record producer.
All hailing from Flatbush Brooklyn, NYC all three members have been friends since childhood. They bonded through their Jamaican Decent as well as the Japanese Anime series Dragon Ball Z. In an interview with DJ Booth sitting and talking with the three members” feels like having a conversation at a high school lunch reunion with the music nerds”. This feeling is derived from the years of musical knowledge and experience the members have.
Erick Arc Elliot began his career as a solo artist with some success which bloomed once he brought the group together in 2012. The Zombie's popularity begun to grow after the release of their mixtape D.R.U.G.S which stands for “Death and reincarnation Under Gods Supervision”. Through the release of their mixtapes, the group rose to popularity due to their unique sound and meaning behind their music. In addition to recording with reputable artists such as SZA and Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA they’ve made a large impact on the music industry.
In September 2014 Flatbush Zombies begun to tour with Brooklyn-based rap group the underachievers and became collectively known as Clockwork Indigo. Through this collaboration, they create the song “Butterfly Effect” in addition to “Indigo”. The group has described the formation of Clockwork Indigo being from a "strange LSD trip while watching A Clockwork Orange".The group went on the release the many other singles as well as 3001: A Laced Odyssey which sold 28,000 copies in the first week and debuting at number 10 on the US Billboard200 chart. In 2018 they released the album Vacation in Hell which garnered positive reviews.

Artist of the Week: Ashe
Ashlyn Rae Willson, known by the public as Ashe, is and American singer and songwriter. She is most known for her hit 2019 single “Moral of the story” which was played in the Netflix movie To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You produced by Billie Eilish’s brother and producer Finneas. Ashe’s upbringing took place in San Jose where she was raised in a Christian household. She took piano and vocal lessons from an early age and listened solely to Christian radio. Her Grandfather introduced her to music from Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Jefferson Airplane inspiring her own work in the future. In an interview with Teen Vogue she expressed that her childhood was far from perfect, and that substance abuse took place in her family. She left San Jose to pursue a degree at Berklee College of music, where she graduated with a major in Contemporary Writing an Production in 2015.
Ashe’s music carreer began in Nashville before she was scouted by Ben Phipps a deep house producer who asked her to sing his track “Sleep Alone”. Her 2016 song “Cant Hide” was her fith #2 single on both the US and Global Spotify Viral 50 charts. Her 2017 single "Let You Get Away" with Canadian DJ Shaun Frank was nominated for Dance Recording of the Year at the 2017 Juno Awards and was certified gold in Canada in 2019. Ashe embarked on tours with Louis the Child, Lauv, and Whethan. After signing to Mom + Pop independent label, she released her debut single "Used to It" in June 2017 and "Girl Who Cried Wolf" in November 2017. "Used to It" was her second single to reach #1 on the Global Spotify Viral 50 chart. Ashe was placed alongside Billie Eilish and Lewis Capaldi on Vevo's list of Artists to Watch In 2018. Throughout April 2017, Ashe supported The Chainsmokers during their Memories Do Not Open Tour and performed onstage with Big Gigantic during Coachella Festival 2017.
By the time Ashe had released her debut EP The Rabbit Hole in June 2018, she had clocked over 200 million accumulative streams and nine #1 songs on Hype Machine. The EP was described as "a versatile and compelling seven-track affair." Ashe supported Quinn XCII on his From Michigan with Love World Tour, during which she also released her single "Moral of the Story".
On April 5, 2019, Ashe released the four-track EP, Moral of the Story: Chapter 1, which was entirely produced by Finneas O'Connell. Finneas also produced three of the four tracks on her sequel EP, Moral of the Story: Chapter 2.
In February 2020, the single "Moral of the Story" was used in the Netflix teen romcom To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020) which caused the song to reach #2 on both the Global and US Spotify Viral 50 chart, and reach over 12 million streams on the platform. Ashe made her debut chart appearance on both the Billboard Hot 100 with "Moral of the Story" and the Billboard 200 with Moral of the Story: Chapter 1. As of March 2020, the single has been used in over 283 thousand videos on the online platform TikTok.
Quotes from the Artist:
When asked about her debut EP The Rabbit Hole-
“They’re all incredibly from my soul and my heart,”
“I always said that when people hear this album, I hope that they feel like they have someone else on their side or someone else that gets them or can understand…I hope they can find a friend in me.”
When asked about Fame-
“There’s still a part of me that thinks, ‘I don’t really want to be famous.’ I want to be successful and I want people to love the music but I really just want them to love the music, you know? Some of my biggest inspirations are Carole King, and this actress, Diane Keaton, and they are these incredibly humble women of character. They love what they do and deflect some of the love pointed towards them. I take that as them saying, ‘I’m simply a vessel for my art.’”
When asked about vulnerability as an artist:
“it’s super vulnerable. I feel like there definitely is a sort of bravery in being an artist. I think it’s important for us to be brave because not everyone is and that vulnerability is so needed in this world.”
