One of the things I love most about DropOut content is that it is largely feel-good and wholesome while still being unapologetically for adults. A sweet, low-stakes show about people having fun with their friends can still include explicit discussion of sex and drugs, sacrilegious jokes, etc. These are all part of many sweet and wholesome adults' lives and DropOut rightly treats them as normal.

i don't think wonderland is ready for those alices
#i have so so many things i could say about this cielois madness returns au (yeah that's what i call it. it's not even meant to be cielois)#(but like. ship names are convenient aren't they)#anyway so many things. but that would be a lot so i'll talk about it if someone asks or if i feel like it later#this post's rambles will be about the outfits!!#so. i gave ciel the dollhouse dress and alois the queensland dress#i know they could have been swapped. and it might have made more sense#HOWEVER#i do not care#i can and will put alois in red just because i want to. and of course i would give him a red fit in an amr fusion au#the vibes are rancid. it's perfect. that's what him being in this au is about!!#terrible things happen to children in kuro and in alice ok#anyway. i know queensland would be good for ciel because r!ciel BUT please envision queen luka i BEG#it's heartwrenching to see lizzie look so small in the game already so luka???? soul crushing. i want it.#now. the dollhouse dress for ciel#because of funtom mostly... and the vibes... and he's more of a doll than alois is ngl...#like. i know that it fits alois more because it's heavy on the trafficking and poverty parts but. see if i care#plus the minor theme of exorcising the evil of the city through the pain of children is more ciel-coded. so yeah#and he looks so bad in red oh my god i could not give him another dress... unless it was the mad hatter one and it would have been boring#also very much not fitting#you might notice that i changed the symbols on both of their aprons#in both cases i replaced female with male obviously but#in ciel's case the dollhouse dress has so many disgusting implications and i made them worse you're welcome <3#(replaced female with male and male with one of the symbols you can see on the contract seal. yeah yeah that's fucked i know)#(it's alice madness returns. and fucking black butler. bad things be happening to children!!)#anyway#that's it for my rambles#i got too lazy to do the vorpal blade and hobby horse light trails#so we'll live with the fact that my sketch has better vibes than the final piece#kuroshitsuji#kuroshitsuji fanart

honestly the older ive gotten the more ive become disillusioned with 'xyz white character but now they're brown!' and it sucks because i absolutely do not mean it in the usual 'weh weh making everything woke' way but rather that many people who seek to diversify casts of mostly white/pale people never think through the cultural implications of what they're penning down yknow. like to be honest if you just pick up a white character and go 'theyre brown now look at my awesome redesign' i kind of feel nothing because textually that is just a white person wearing the skin of a poc and it's not like. representation. at worst it gets straight up tokenising. maybe it's just because it's actually very easy to find 'diverse' media that is not written by some white dude that is writing every character from the perspective of a white dude (there are so many brown characters that just read as white because the author does not put any effort into distinguishing lived experiences) and i find it much more fulfilling to take somewhat underdeveloped characters that are clearly meant to be ethnic and rightfully elaborate on them rather than slap a stamp of approval on some white guy. Not to mention the fact that sometimes a character being white is actually very informative of their place in society and their inherited cultural bigotry but then people turn around and contradict that which is like, not something i'm critiquing from a "how dare you ruin this white character" standpoint but from a "you have to make very convoluted steps and bounds to explain why this brown character acts like a white bigot and it quickly gets very uncomfortable" one. yknow. and tangentially i think the same thing with people randomly headcanoning characters as trans. like sure you want to project but sometimes i think its worth asking yourself 'is this character a critique of cis white men and how does making them marginalised change the implications'. like people can have their fun but damn man sometimes it just gets in the way. does that make sense.

Tbh I feel like we need to be a bit more sympathetic to the younger generations because you do need to remember these kids are from a time of tiktok activism while we were suffering through terrible fanservice no one asked for

Like I cannoooot tell you how many times I've seen people calling a totally normal story problematic and thought "these people would have a stroke watching the anime we had"
Obviously they're going to see something scandalous yet harmless and freak out, they're dumb as hell and their brains aren't fully grown. Instead of calling them puriteens and making fun of them we can just be like "things that are normalized for us are not normalized for them"
When I look back at being a teenager I can admit I had a LOT of opinions that were wrong and I have no shame admitting I've changed as a person. But older people making fun of me and telling me I'm stupid because I'm young definitely was not something that helped with that process

I wrote a 10,000 word stolitz smut fic with plot. It's a bottom Blitz fic that takes place a couple of months post-Mastermind. I hope it's still vaguely canon-compliant after Sinsmas!
Here's the description:
When Stolas and Blitzø go shopping for a bigger apartment, Blitzø thinks that he needs to protect his very sheltered boyfriend from being manipulated by the corrupt businessmen of Imp City. But when it comes to negotiating, Stolas brings an unexpected skillset.
Witnessing Stolas negotiating on his behalf gives Blitzø some new ideas for the bedroom (or . . . more accurately . . . living room) and helps him understand that he might not have to shoulder everything alone.
Thanks, as always, @akirathedramaqueen for your eyes and insights and all the conversations along the way.

something i notice with a lot of op fandom talk is a very popular need to slap a familial label onto the strawhats relationships. like calling robin the crew's "mom" or calling chopper zoro's "kid/brother" etc etc. maybe im just a hearty combination of very aromantic and not very close to my blood relatives at all, but i think the platonic relationships are incredibly impactful and important, hell, imho, even more important than if they were forced into these nuclear family stereotypical "sibling/parent/etc" categories. like, idk, most of my friends are a lot older than me, ive had friends twice my age, and friends much younger than me too. theyre not my uncle or my mom or my baby brother and i never felt the desire to think abt them that way either, theyre just friends. YES the strawhats are found family but absolutely not in the traditional way with all these labels. theyre all friends with a very strong bond. friends ARE family!

I just finished watching the 1966 Hammer flick Plague of the Zombies, and I'm fascinated by it. The premise is that the squire of a small Cornish village, who was raised in the Caribbean before being called home to take over after his father's death, has turned to voodoo to try to get workers to reopen the tin mines that made the village's fortune.
The movie sits neatly in an uneasy horror space between the original horror of the zombie - of your will being overridden by another's, of continuing to be enslaved even after death should have released you from all earthly woes - and Romero's ghouls and everything that they spawned. A nightmare sequence features hands pushing up out of fresh-dug graves, dead faces closing in all around one of our protagonists - but in the end, the only person the zombies are truly dangerous to is the man who created them. The true horror of the story is the absolute power that the squire holds over the people of the village, made metaphorical as voodoo.
The tin mines were closed after multiple fatal accidents caused the men of the village to refuse to work there anymore, so the squire removed their ability to refuse by killing and raising them as zombies. At the end of the day, he owns these people, body and soul, and there's nothing that the police or the vicar or anyone else who is supposed to be responsible for the villagers' wellbeing can do, so long as the squire holds this position of absolute power.
If you feel you simply must transplant zombie horror based in voodoo into a white European context, I feel like using it to highlight the injustices of a system of government directly descended from feudalism is not the worst choice you could make.
