Here's the reason the root note, a minor third, and the perfect fifth can sound quite sad...

Look man, everyone's known Drake is a pedophile for years. He was caught trying to groom both Millie Bobbie Brown and Billie Elish. He was doing weird shit and making weird comments to minor fans on stage a decade ago, this isn't news. I'm a white guy and I knew about this, it's actually kinda common knowledge if you pay attention to the rap genre at all.
It's insane that someone in the industry is FINALLY calling him out on it instead of sweeping it under the fucking rug.

i will never get over the fact that chase was “convinced” to kiss a nine year old and she only asked twice. she didn’t wear him down at all, he didn’t negotiate or anything, just went straight in. first time i watched it i was like “oh hes gonna go for the forehead right?” and i had to go on walk to get over what i’d seen. this is way worse than house with the teenager.

how do you think aromanticism can be expressed visually? im not talking flags or anything else as an ID, i mean the experience through art // an aro asking an aro
like.. can you think of the symbol or trope or metaphor of how aromanticism can be expressed? im an artist who has the opposite of artblock rn so i think of such questions a lot sometimes :D i can think of anatomically gorey correct heart or the lack of attraction/"pull" like an anchor
its interesting to hear a writer's pov of the same question :]
before i say anything else i would like to say the idea of aromanticism as an anatomically correct heart is so fucking sick and i love this.
to me the first thing i thought of was... aromanticism as seeing the world through a slightly different color palette? almost like looking at things from behind a pane of vaguely tinted glass. you can see things happening, but they don't appeal to you the same way they do to everyone else. you can imitate it but it sort of feels like you're miming.
other images that came to mind (depressing)...
the center of mass in a binary system. the two stars are doomed to orbit closer and closer until they collide and go supernova, and despite being in the middle you are sort of just there, invisibly.
a black hole.
a knife.
a train where each passenger keeps getting off until you are the only one left sitting.
snow. a wintry landscape.
a dream.
other images that came to mind (less depressing)...
a plant!! maybe a tree. maybe a full canopy.
a notebook.
a rope used for rappelling.
pandas. i don't know why but they seem so aromantic to me.
a long drive at night on the way to pick up a friend.
the beach in the evening. if you listen to a seashell you can hear the ocean of your identity inside, just as sure as the waves that wash over your feet.

My new favorite part of tiktok is people using Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us to call out drivers or their SOs for grooming, pedophilia, and ephebophilia.

Living in B Minor has 25 kudos, weeee! 🎉
You know what that means? Celebration!
Here's a little glimpse into the creative process of this fic:
What's with that title?
At the most surface level, this fic is about people connecting over music, and minor chords sound sad. This is a story about the aftermath of a tragedy and if you are living in a musical piece that is played in a minor chord, it's going to be depressing.
Now, the more complex.
This fic revolves around so many tragedies. Shinsou grappling with his "Am I a villain?" complex. Shinsou handling an event that pulled away someone he cared about. Monoma being at the center of this event, and him having to clearly deal with a loss. Monoma pulling away from everyone. Shinsou's quirk recoil which causes his debilitating pain.
Tumblr media
This is Shinsou centric though, so why not "A Minor"? He's in Class A, after all.
Because at the core of this story, Shinsou is really trying to help out the person living in the tragic song, which is Monoma.
Yes, Shinsou is dealing with a lot of tragedies in his life, but he talks to people. He tries to handle these situations. In his third year, he lets people in, because he's learned that keeping EVERYONE out is a recipe for disaster.
Tumblr media
The person continuing to live in the minor chord is Monoma, and Shinsou is trying to slide into his song and inject a little something different. Bring in the next movement. Switch the tempo. Find their rhythm again which wasn't full of tragedy... Or even when it was, that they had each other to rely on and not merely wallow in a repeating phrase.
I also try to name the chapters around musical concepts! For example, the beginning is called "First Movement" because in a classical piece, there are often 3 movements. You can expect that "Second" and "Third" will pop up along the way as the story progresses, moving narratively and, perhaps, musically as well!
I hope you enjoyed my rambling.
If you haven't yet delved into this fic, but this sounds intriguing, go check it out! Link at the top. It's MHA. It's Shinsou. It's Monoma. It's a lil labor of love as I try on writing a story of people who found each other once, and are trying to again.

Taylor returning over and over to the falling through the ice accident in the Bolter—everything to me
#like. just. the shock of it all#there’s something about Taylor where her experience of life is so ….. brutal#like I don’t know how else to say it but it just is. life is not easy on her it is always ready to CLOBBER her#and in a way she’s not easy on life. there’s some kind of magnets/opposite poles stuff where she’s just always drawn to the worst things#to feeling them and experiencing them and almost ??? creating them#like I don’t mean to overstate it. and I know she has a family who loves her (thank GOD)#and also she’s very practical and industrious about creating this very Instagram worthy life full of Fine Things and a Fun Time#and of course all the resources in the world at her disposal to create all the trappings of it#whether it’s a celebrity Fourth of July party or the eras tour#and she’ll do it and love it. but as all the best critics know and point out the most fascinating thing about Taylor is always the music#and it’s where all the weirdness and stubbornness and difficulties of her life. her a c t u a l longings her actual fears#her actual terrible awful experiences that she charges headlong down the paths of#is set free! and it’s breathtaking in the most shocking way#like falling through the ice! I always say the first thing that always hits me about a Taylor album is the bitterness#just this blast in the face. and her music is so gentle! in so many ways#and the packaging is so appealing and her voice is so soft and expressive and there is none of that weird experimentation#even musically (remember when she shut down imogen heap for putting a minor chord in clean she was like absolutely not. I’m obsessed)#(with that moment forever)#but like. so much of Taylor’s packaging and life and HER really does SEEM so basic or ordinary or just rich girl ordinary I guess#she likes basic things and wants basic things. but also she is so hungry so restless so angry so wounded the rich internal life is CHURNING#all the time. every second. and it’s spectacular to watch and also I will worry about her until the day I die#or just—-I don’t know. it’s going to be spectacular and it is sometimes going to be awful#but she will keep furiously writing her way through it!!#there IS such a woundedness to her. and it makes me love her so much because it’s packaged in such a way people think it must just be#whining or privilege. but it’s not! it’s just. the human condition and Taylor’s own flaws#okay I’ve lost the plot here a bit in my ramblings but yeah the ice metaphor. insanely perfect
