Lego Friday The 13th

It's Friday the 13th for second time in a row! Rare but definitely scarily fun! Even though I am, again, late for the occasion, I put together this image to cover my lateness! Enjoy!

Building a collection of Lego ranged weapons for playing Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack; most would work for minifigures too. Tried to create a simplified but robust list of options using common/cheap bricks that new comers could copy/iterate on. In theory you could outfit any mobile frame squad/company with all the weapons shown and fill any combination of direct/indirect/SSRs/split weapons (including melee if you use an underslung chainsaw a la Gears of War lancer or the 'fusion edge'-definitely-not-a-lightsaber). Boomers and shortys are pretty straightforward. Mechanically there's no difference between the Colsten and Maxters, both filling the direct range variations. Flavor wise Colstens tend to be single shot or 3 round burst with smaller magazines and little in the way to inherently manage heat (save the finned version), while the Maxters tend to be burst or full auto with drum magazines and water cooled barrels (making them more ideal for vacuum combat). Originally the Maxter was going to be a gatling gun, might double back around to that flavor wise. The Colsten is the mobile frame evolution of the WW2 Sten and Polsten. They were originally a stop gap for UMFL/Colonial Espatiers, but has been mostly adapted by Free Colony Cells while better supported UMFL/CE have moved on to The MRS. The Maxter on the other hand is the preferred space combat option over the Colsten. Although the Maxter also has a longer/safer usage time in space than The MRS, the latter is formed from superior alloys that absorb vastly more heat before being impacted, and is usually preferred for the increased reliability and optional loadouts.

because of their densely and tightly packed form, they're pretty much invincible to anything, from temperatures up to 1600c, as cold as -197c, and can withstand a weight limit of 30,000 tons. so medic didn't even bother adding a respawn chip to them. but he didn't count for the fact that every. single. one of those hurts like hell. death isn't even an easy way out. either wait for help, or get out of the situation themself.

on the field, they're mostly used as a pest to distract the enemy so that their teammates can get the final blow.

though they're a nervous wreck and cowardly most of the time, once attacked, or a teammate is in trouble, they act on an apeshit instinct and go as ham as they can, mostly going for the eyes, nape of the neck, or even the groin at times. its hard to hit something so small y'know.

they, engie, and pyro hand out most of th time. family bonding <3

literally experiencing the terrors everyday. pls help them.

they're mute because blu didn't create them with vocal chords since they were just gonna attach a camera with a mic to em. so since they cant talk, they use a lot of hand gestures and charades, sometimes using objects around them. fuck sign language that shits too hard to learn 😔

engie made their lil' suit, boots, and nail gun. had a blast with it since it reminded him of those minifigures sets he used to own as a boy.

nail gun works like a rifle but with arching projectiles. the arc aint that big, its mostly a straight shot.

its lonely being so small and miles apart from everyone.

I know they're all happy and don't know what's coming for them in this shot, but look at Arin

Can't tell one hundred percent, but that looks like the Matriarch without her crown. For some reason she's in the Kingdom of Madness (might be because she decided to move her herd in s1 ep2 and thought this was a safe place). And why does she look like she might be dying? Or at least not in a good condition. (Assuming this'll be in the episode 11)

Oh fuck Wyldfyre's face. Whatever happened can't be good. But I'm not sure if it has to do with Cinder having heat or some other event. Mainly because Wyldfyre very much is controlling heat right now.

I have no idea why they might be in the Administration, but I guess they are. (Also looks like this will be Episode 11)

Cinder in his sick ass outfit. Haven't even seen the whole thing and I can already confirm the minifigure does NOT do it justice at all.

Also (like everyone else) wondering how the hell he has Heat. Stole it from Wyldfyre using some weird Shatterspin magic? Maybe Jordana stole it using her dark magic for him? Or some other Tournament related thing that gave him said ability to take her powers.

Or maybe a new master of Amber? But 1) don't think the writers are going to just kill Skylor like that and 2) There's no way he would've been able to hold Ash's power for that long, even without broken Amber powers like Skylor likely did past Season 9

No idea when this'll be (or who Lloyd's even fighting) but based on his outfit and the time of day, this is not one of the actual Tournament battles.

Maybe during these episodes in the actual battles Lloyd will wear the Tournament outfit, and then in scenes that are not Tournament events, he'll be wearing the master outfit. Which would put this scene at pretty much any point in the season except for Episode 11. And likely episode 20. Maybe

Or Lloyd will be wearing this outfit only at the beginning of the Tournament (likely only Episodes 12 and maybe 13) and then will wear the Tournament suit the rest of the season

Looks like that might be Heatwave catching Lloyd? (Based on the claws and the fact that he caught Lloyd using his tail rather than some possibly more harmful or violent way such as the claws or mouth)

Also looks like this'll be episode 11. Maybe episode 12 prior to getting to the Tournament.

Saw someone else ask why the Source Dragon of Motion is glowing over the Monastery and honestly I have the same question.

Maybe this is supposed to be the end of Episode 20 after they free her?

Or earlier on in the season where she might be telling them to go to the Tournament of the Sources (as she and the others might be scared of Ras being able to get to them if his team wins the Tournament)

Also, looking at the fact that it'll be October rather than earlier like I thought it would be, I'm thinking the date of release might be the 24th if following the previous patterns of release dates (Thursdays and multiples/factors of 4). But at the same time that feels very late, so it might actually be an earlier week like that of the 10th. Which will break the multiples/factors of 4 pattern, but it could happen.

Also, we did not see Nokt at all during this teaser, which is kinda odd. Maybe Ras is waiting until the right moment to use him in the Tournament?

Cadet Tech, pure Lego version! I have some decals to print and place on the torso and the arm (for the little symbol we see them with in the show) and some matching hands for the left-hand head on the way.

CX-2, pure Lego version. I wanted to do a CX-2 which requires zero actual modifications, and this is as good as I could get. I have a decal on the way to adjust the helmet, a BrickArms Firepuncher, and a I'm considering a CloneArmy Customs backpack. In the mean time, I have an armband decal for the right armand and 'CX-Tech' heads drying off from sealing, after which I can swap those in and work on a decal for the chest. I'm also getting a black utility belt (rarer) to add a little silver paint to so it better matches the show.

I recently went to California for the first time and one of the things I did was go on the Warner Bros Studio Tour, and imagine my surprise to see a dedicated display to The Lego Movie!!! 🎥

This display is from at the very end of the tour, where they feature certain films/shows that raked in a bunch of awards OR are deeply important to Warner Bros in regards to their impact upon the film industry (oh you know, stuff like Humphery’s and Ingrid’s outfits from Casablanca, a blimp model from Blade Runner, a laser gun from Argo, etc) so seeing some TLM1 minifigures be featured in this display is utterly INSANE!!! 🥹😭

Even though Warner Bros no longer has the right to using the Lego IP in any sense, it warms my heart to see that they still take pride in the TLM series!….. I do find it kinda funny though how in this display, they forgot to include Lucy, Unikitty, or Batman, and instead included Ma & Pa Cop and some random civilians lol 💀

Here’s my take on a batch of custom Nexo Knights minifigs !

Closeups and thoughts under the cut

So, in no particular order, the closeups, with comments and comparisons with the actual characters from the original Lego theme (also, because of Tumblr’s image limits, I had to badly stitch together my pictures, sorry-)

1) Mace

Pretty cool one, and the only girl in the team in the original cast, who also happen to have troubles because her dad is the king. But eh, none of that here, so she get the cool cloak I assign to any cool red character I can find (yes, you’ll see it again many times in the future). The overall design is pretty nice (mostly this face, the other one on the brick is not as good; the printed armor, which is from season 4, is pretty nice, and does a nice job with the large dark piece (coming from later Hero Factory sets). The weapons are from the Chima theme (and so is the cloak !). The hairs are from the only Tron set, which should have been continued as whole theme but eh-

2) Axel

Stupid and muscular originally. Well, now he’s got a Large Axe (Bionicle) to stand to his name. The helmet is all Nexo, but with some custom brew of mine, and so is the shield. Also, the custom arm was possible because the large chest has a technic pin.

3) Clay(more)

Not room much modifications on the base character (s1). The sword is from a season four version of the character, the shield is homemade with some fun pieces I had lying around. The two arms are modified from the Ultimate set. …which I transformed in guns…Yeah.

4) Aaron

Green ! Always had a cooler weapon. The armor is from the mech set, the chest piece is from s3-4, the Google’s are from the Ultimate set, and the shoulder thingy is from Boba Fett. I kept the original shield with some added pieces, which is made to fly (like with the original al character) but changed the face to give him a more serious expression. The weapon is mostly from the original crossbow, with some nice twists (the beam on the first image is from a ninjago sword).

5) Lance Whatever their name is now

Really a bad character : rich, 'very pretty', egocentric. So, well…I took the armor and made an entire new one. I really like them, but it might be because it took an awful lot of time to figure out the weapon (transparent white piece similar to the green beam mentioned above). Armor-wise, it’s s1 body, with a grey pauldron (Clone Wars) and a light grey kama (…Also Clone Wars). The hairs are a really cool piece from a Ninjago set, and the head…Come from a City ski set. But the orange visor makes it work !

6) Never remembered the name of that one

Original character is a very smart kid with not much development in the show. Well, firstly I made him an adult (legs are from a black widow figure), and then I decided to push the technical side a little. So, full suit with crystal swords, which works ! Most pieces are actually from the theme, except the red dots (Ninjago again), the crystals in the back (Power Mine [really a cool theme !]), and the helmet (City firefighters + Ninjago…again). It was the first one I made, which made me do the others.

I might get them in a diorama at some point, to set them against the very many custom monsters from the same theme (which were already much cooler than the original minifigs). In fact, most of the theme was really cool, the two sad points are that it was discontinued, and the TV show was…Well, it didn’t push much sci-fi nor fantasy, so I had to do the job.

Now, with that post I have finally revealed my three favorites things to do with legos : Dioramas, Big Mechs, and Custom minifigures (plus any Clone Wars related stuff, but it’s probably just as much because of the fandom aspect as it is the Lego aspect). One day perhaps, I’ll get all three of these aspects in one epic scene, but I have no idea of how for now, so maybe later~

This is part of a series called "Off Brand Minifigures Scenes" or OBMS. It's about using a set of off brand Lego minifigures, good or bad quality, and using them for different scenes and scenarios based on their appearance or profession. A group of minifigures from a single off brand company will be used at a time. The brand of these minifigures is Miin. You can explore this series in the OBMS gallery folder.

More Lego Collection

Ok I kinda fucked up the order of my pictures. So I can’t categorize this one properly. I’ll just keep going over my figures.

Tall Ewok. I thought it’d be funny. It is. They are holding a Minecraft bow.

Death Watch Mandolorian. I didn’t put this in the untouched because I was unsure if this was untouched. But looking at it now it looks pretty intact.

Spider-man. Originally this was part of a Mighty Micros. Spiderman originally had much shorter legs. I gave him some properly tall ones.

Pizza Superhero. Got him mainly from a minifigure pack. Originally just a mini figure in a pizza costume. I made him a superhero by giving him a cape. I think I was inspired by Meet the Robinsons for this. The pizza he holds did not come with the pack. I got it from a TMNT Lego set.

Zurg. I love Zurg. He single handily made Toy Story 2 my favorite of the trilogy franchise. Originally his legs were just a big brick. But that didn’t stay on too well, so I gave him normal legs. I also changed his ammunition so it could hold more blasts. I lost his cape too.

Wind-up Kraang. I thought it’d be funny. It is. No idea where I got the strange gun.

Robo-Gollum. It’s just cool. Got normal Gollum from Lego Dimensions. Ray gun from Evil Robot Minifigure pack.

Goons. These are some crooks from City Alarm Lego Board Game. I gave them some hats, so one is now a pirate, one is now a Joker goon, and one is still just a regular crook.

20240430. The History of LEGO Castle day 121. 6094 Guarded Treasury (2000, 103 pieces, 41 different parts) Guarded Treasury is designed as two separate buildings, each built on a green 8x8 brick. The first building is a black, light gray, dark gray, and tan dungeon with a light gray 2x6x7 door frame topped with a dark gray 4x8x2.33 castle turret top. The second small building is a light gray, tan, and dark gray structure with a chrome silver sword held up by a red 1x2 brick with side handle, a light gray 3x4x6 castle turret wall with window, and a blue roof built from 2x2x3 double convex slopes. This set has two minifigures. -Gilbert the Bad and has a black axe wielder helmet, a yellow minifigure head with spikey black bangs, a gray eye, a brown eye patch, black facial scruff, a black torso with dark gray arms and medium brown scale mail printing with a green collar, plain black legs, a dark gray crossbow, and a light gray ovoid bull shield. Gilbert the Bad is found in 4819 Rebel Chariot, 6032 Catapult Crusher, 6091 / 6098 King Leo's Castle, 6094 Guarded Treasury, and 6096 Bull's Attack. -The other minifigure for this set is listed as a Knights Kingdom knight and has a dark gray pike helmet, a yellow minifigure head with black curly mustache and goatee and black bangs with gray streaks, a dark gray torso with red arms and a chain mail pattern at the neck and silver breast plate print, black legs with silver plates on the thighs and a black belt with green and silver print, a dark gray sword, and a light gray triangular Knights Kingdom shield. This minifigure is found in six sets, 1287 / 4801 / 4811 Crossbows / Defense Archer, 4816 Knight's Catapult, 6026 King Leo, 6091 / 6098 King Leo's Castle, 6094 Guarded Treasury, and 6095 Royal Joust. -The brown minifigure utensil torch / space gun is only found in three sets, 4729 Dumbledore's Office, 5924 Legoland Castle Photo Frame, and 6094 Guarded Treasury. -The light gray 3x4x6 castle turret wall with window was only found in three sets, 4707 Hagrid's Hut, 6091 / 6098 King Leo's Castle, and 6094 Guarded Treasury. -The dark gray 4x8x2 castle turret top was only found in four sets, 6046 Hemlock Stronghold, 6048 Majisto's Magical Workshop, 6097 Night Lord's Castle, and 6094 Guarded Treasury. -The light gray 2x6x7 door frame was only found in three sets, 6094 Guarded Treasury, 6755 / 6764 Sheriff's Lockup, and 6762 / 6769 Fort Legoredo. -The bull shield is only found in 1288 Fire Cart, 4806 Axe Cart, 4807 Fire Attack, 4818 Dragon Rider, 6032 Catapult Crusher, 6091 / 6098 King Leo's Castle, 6094 Guarded Treasury, 6095 Royal Joust, 6096 Bull's Attack, and 10066 Castle Accessories. One of the interesting things about this set is how the back of the box has a comic about why the Knights Kingdom soldier decided to rebuild the original set into a taller tower. This is the first use in a LEGO Castle subtheme of telling a story with a comic on the back of the box. The instructions also include the back of the box build for the tower. Parts inventory for this set can be found on BrickLink or Rebrickable and a free download of the instructions is available on ToysPeriod. As an interesting note, there is also a free scanned copy of the instructions under the "Instructions" tab on Rebrickable and that includes the instructions for the alternate tower build :)
