Marina and the Diamonds - Bubblegum Bitch 2012
"Bubblegum Bitch" is a song by Welsh singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis, professionally known as Marina and formerly as Marina and the Diamonds, from her second studio album, Electra Heart (2012). Despite not having been released as a single, the song entered international charts after experiencing a resurgence on social media platform TikTok in early 2021, thanks to which it subsequently was certified gold in the US in March and silver in the UK in September the same year. The song was written by Diamandis and Nowels in June 2011 in Santa Monica, California, inspired by the book Bubblegum: The History of Plastic Pop by a British journalist, Nick Brownlee. Marina expressed her interest in releasing the song as a single in 2012, but she said that she could not do it due to the vulgar title, acknowledging radio constraints.
After returning from the US after the launch of her debut studio album in 2010, Diamandis considered creating a character which would become the centerpiece of her follow-up project. She commented that she was inspired by the "Tumblr generation" to photograph herself in several places across the US, appearing as a different persona in each picture to mimick the anonymity of the "mini-stars of the internet". The final product became "a cold, ruthless character who wasn't vulnerable", which she later named "Electra Heart" and detailed as a tool to represent a combination of elements associated with the American Dream and Greek tragedy, and added that visuals would merge the differing concepts into a cohesive idea. She originally planned to release the record as a "side project" under an entity separate from Marina and the Diamonds, although her management disapproved.
"Bubblegum Bitch" received a total of 88,8% yes votes!

After a stellar first year as a group, Venus hit 2019 swinging. They began their "Video Game Era," officially titled "VSCAPE," promoting their upcoming series of video games that would come with every comeback. VSCAPE would be a three-part series in which the girls would be put in three different genres of video games: fighting, action, and simulation.
People weren't exactly sure how seriously Angelico would take this project until their third mini album, "VSCAPE: BATTLE ROYALE," was released along with the accompanying video game under the same title. Of course, you had to buy the album and video game separately, but both came with photocards, so fans were more than happy to spend their money. Fans were even more shocked when the game was good, with stunning graphics that felt utterly out of Angelico's budget.
VENUS IN 2019 AT THEIR COMEBACK SHOWCASES: Bliss (21 via Battle Royale), Baebi (20 via PUNCHOUT), Chloe (19 via LOVE&LOSERS), Sena (17 via PUNCHOUT), and Jiah (16 via Battle Royale).
The game would be similar to Mortal Kombat but less violent. You could pick which Venus member you'd like to fight as and be paired with randomized villains or other Venus members, resulting in many hilarious reaction videos created by their fans, Constellations.
BATTLE ROUND, the title track, would win eight music show trophies and sell over 1 million copies, becoming the first Venus album to achieve this and the first group in Angelico history to have over a million sales.
They would release the second part of the VSCAPE project, another mini album and video game titled "VSCAPE: PUNCHOUT." Many fans expected the same type of gameplay from the first VSCAPE project but were shocked to be met with entirely different graphics and gameplay. This game follows the player through an apocalyptic world, trying to find the cure for the disease that's destroyed the country of South Korea. The graphics and gameplay are very similar to TellTale's The Walking Dead game, which is not shocking as they were the studio behind it. The game was praised for its interactive story elements, the girl's voice acting, and an overall storyline that had many constellations crying by the end of it.
VISION BOARDS FOR BATTLE ROYALE, PUNCHOUT, and LOVE&LOSERS.
PLAYER ONE would be the title track for PUNCHOUT, securing the girls' 12 music show wins as well as being certified platinum by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) for 100 million streams just three months after its release.Ā This would mark the second Venus song to achieve this.
The final and most iconic part of the VSCAPE series is "VSCAPE: LOVE & LOSERS," with the title track "LOVE SIMULATOR." The game is just that: a dating simulator featuring all the girls. Though the game concept was quite controversial, as many fans saw it as pandering to a specific audience, the art used for the game was heavily praised for its cute and unique style.
FAN FAVORITE OUTFITS FROM THE VSCAPE ERA!
Though the game was hit or miss by fans, the song took over South Korea. "Love Simulator" received positive reviews from music critics and appeared on many year-end rankings of the best songs in 2019.Ā Rolling StoneĀ placed "Love Simulator" at number 24 on their list of the top 100 songs in 2019. On the NationalĀ Circle Digital Chart, the single peaked at number two. TheĀ Korea Music Content AssociationĀ (KMCA) certified it double platinum for surpassing 200Ā million streams in South Korea.Ā The song was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for accumulating over 100 million streams in Japan.
Love Simulator would have 17 music show wins to its name, something virtually unheard of from Angelico. It is the 4th most-awarded song in music show history.
Venus would win their first Daesang this year, taking home Song Of The Year at MAMA for Love Simulator and Best Dance PerformanceāFemale Group. They would also go on to win the Grand Prize at the Seoul Music Awards, marking another Daesang win for the girls.

HYBE - 2025 Predictions
RE: Ador/Min Heejin/NewJeans...
HYBE will sue several websites/news sites for defamation over the whole NewJeans saga
Evidence and undeniable proof will surface that shows MHJ did illegal stuff whilst as CEO of Ador, and it may also implicate some of the NewJeans members and their families.
HYBE will win it's lawsuits against Min Heejin and New Jeans
and then will sue NewJeans for Breach of Contract, which they will win
NewJeans will disband and be heavily liable for their breach of contract (probably around $500 million dollars), exceptā¦
Min Heejin will then try to settle with HYBE and I could see them asking a for a tough non-compete element to the settlement
I think one of the members (probably the one who has - or their parents - been leaking stuff to Dispatch), will stay signed to HYBE but be inactive and possibly work on being an influencer and release the occasional song/mini-album... or just work through their rest of their contract
Ador will be rebranded to include a new moniker (though somehow keeping the name Ador inlcuded.
Adoor will then debut a boygroup, or...
If some of the NewJeans members stay a new mixed group (I know longshot but if any company can successfully debut a co-ed group HYBE can)
RE: the rest of HYBE...
I expect a big crossover event to occur with all the labels at some point, incl. BTS, possibly a concert or game changers type show.
Expect Katseye to be heavily pushed next year, as well as Illit and Le Sserafim
Groups I expect to tour next year... Le Sserafim, Enhypen, with Katseye doing a limited tour in the US and Asia.
I think GFriend will re-sign with Source, though they won't be full-time (it'll be like Blackpink they will have an occasional album and tour)
TXT's hiatus will be until spring-ish, with a comeback in Apr/May.
The boy groups that get pushed more will be BoyNextDoor in the first half, whilst with a shrinking SEVENTEEN, TWS will become more prominent in late 2025
SEVENTEEN will work more on subunit releases next year
I could see HYBE America debut a solo artist in the latter part of 2025.
I think HYBE will produce two massive viral song hits, the first being from Le Sserafim whilst the other will come from BTS.
HYBE will expand their Disney+ deal to include other groups.
WEVERSE...
I think they'll make lives, whilst still open to view to everyone, only fans with paid memberships subs will be able to comment... and be liable for prosecution if they make malicious comments because they will have to provide payment details.
I think membership subscriptions will become more valuable and include previously VOD content (Bon Voyage/In the Soop etc).

JK 9 November 2023 Times square
OMG, he was amazing.
And I do hope he feels he redeemed himself (not that he needed to, but that's just him).
youtube
The crowd was HUGE

And you could hear it.
And singing along to Yes or no (and his vocals there were beautiful as well). Thinking that his album was released only a week ago...
God, I love Yes or no. But Standing next to you is still #1 for me.
And he performed Don't change as well - a song we were told is for Army.

This is definitley JK in his element.
Yes, I had to.š¤£š¤£
On stage with thousands of Army cheering him on.
He looked so happy!!!
Sorry, but also had to do this as well.
Yep, the J is not covered nor separated from the M.
You know, that way even if JM might not be there with him physically, he is still WITH HIM there!!
Black N' White
And this is what the Xbox add was all about.
A customized Golden console.
Ok, so will he post on Weverse or will he go live? Question is just how hyped up he is right now, lol. I do hope that he has a little bit of time to take a breath and rest though. Just a little bit. We know he'll be on his way home shortly, given that on the 15th he has the pre recording for Mnet. And 20th is his mini concert.
Much excitement to come!!!

hcs for arthurtv with a singer partner?
this is another trope i absolutely love, too...
-> this man would be obsessed.
-> whenever he gets the opportunity to play their music, whether it be in a car when he's in charge of the aux cable or whether it be a playlist for a house party, he doesn't hesitate in choosing what song to play.
-> he's their number one supporter - when they release a new album or a new single, he'll share it on every platform and he'll promote their music on his tiktok account, use it on his instagram story and he'll speak so highly of it to his friends to make sure they give it a listen.
-> the fans think it's cute how he'll wear their merch like they do with his merch; when it's wet and rainy, he'll wear a hoodie embroidered with their name on the breast. when it's sunny and warm, he'll wear a t-shirt with their brand-new single name on the back. he gets george to wear the cap with their album title on, chris to wear the bucket hat, and he's so proud to show it off.
-> when they go on tour or do a one-off show, he's there for the most important dates. the first show, the hometown london show and the final show. with his friends, their friends and their families, standing at the back to keep the attention off of him and on them, instead. it's their night and he wouldn't want to ruin that.
-> always waits for them backstage, too.
-> as soon as they play their last song of the night, he finds his way to the backstage entrance and disappears so he can be there to greet them when they come off stage.
-> "how did i do?"
-> "you did so good, lovie, i'm so proud of you."
-> he's such a fanboy for them, too. gets all giddy when they mention his name, has a goofy smile whenever they play his favourite song, is totally and 100% in his element at their shows, taking photos through the night and uploading it to his instagram story.
-> the biggest fan.
-> and you just know that arthur hill would totally ask them to be his opening act for his own mini uk tour... no word of a lie. they'd be best friends outside of music, too, so it just seems really fitting and they'd see it as a perfect way to propel them into the world of touring and such. being with someone they were comfortable around.
-> and it gives arthur more of a reason to visit. his best friend and his partner on tour together? it's like his little dream come true. xx

Documentary Review - Beatles '64
Something I've said many times is this: I am a firm believer that if you are going to make a documentary about The Beatles, the filmmaker needs to shine a light on some new aspect of The Beatlesā history or present something new, otherwise they are just reiterating what was already said with the 1982 featureĀ The Compleat BeatlesĀ and 1995ā²s doc mini-seriesĀ The Beatles Anthology, which were the most comprehensive Beatle docs ever. Sometimes it can be interesting if itās a close collaborator being profiled (Freda Kelly, Pete Best, George Martin, or Stuart Sutcliffe have all had interesting docs). Sometimes it can be interesting if its bringing new elements of their story to light, i.e. Ron HowardāsĀ The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Year, which focused on their live performances and had some never-before-seen footage to present. It's easy to go back to over-analyzing what's already been over-analyzed a ton, but with The Beatles, if you want to be effective you need to dig deeper. In 2021, Peter Jackson did an excellent job with The Beatles: Get Back by having access to the Fab Four's recording of Get Back / Let It Be (read my review here). For me, I made a short documentary The Beatles Boston about their history with the city of Boston (concerts they played, connections to radio stations, etc) and my focus was to put the band's history into the regional context as opposed to show the entire history and because of that it worked as a short that played multiple Beatle events. But I digress. Now in 2024, as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Beatle-Mania hitting America, in addition to the album re-releases (my review of the 1964 album reissues is coming soon), Disney+ is premiering the new documentary film Beatles '64 this weekend.
movie poster
Director David Tedeschi cut his teeth as an editor collaborating with Martin Scorsese on a number of his music docs including George Harrison: Living in the Material World and last year they co-directed Personality Crisis: One Night Only (I including it in my Best Documentaries of 2023). Now Tedeschi is directing with Scorsese producing, even though the later's presence is felt throughout this doc (he is seen interviewing some of the subjects). The focus is on the year 1964, not before and not after. Using some rare archival footage shot by Albert and David Maysles, they show the first time arriving at the airport, the first U.S. tour, the appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, the film A Hard Day's Night, and, of course, the screaming fans. Both Paul and Ringo are interviewed modern-day and there's archival interviews with John and George recollecting.
Sir Ringo Starr talking with Martin Scorsese
Bottom line: I am a hardcore Beatle fanatic, so it's now surprise I devoured this doc from start to finish. 1964 was such a packed year to get into the weeds of for them. That was the year they literally took the world by storm. But for me what made this more than just another Beatles doc was the rare and unseen footage. My goodness - we thought we had seen everything and here is some rare photos, film and first-hand accounts. I think some of the modern day interviews from the likes of Smokey Robinson, Ronnie Spector, Jack Douglas and more were excellent. In the case of Scorsese talking with Ringo, I thought it was cool because it's a legend talking with a legend and the audience can feel the mutual respect and joy both are getting from that. Can't wait for a 1965 Beatles doc and/or whatever Tedeschi does next!
For info on Beatles '64

š š š š š š½š“šš“šøš³š šāؾš¢Ö“ą». are a five member fictional girl group under Wist Entertainment. Creatively, the group was handed over to February Harp by Wistās CEO in their early days as they sought a new western influence to handle their newest project. The five member ensemble consists of Freya Callaway-Lee, Baek Chaerin, Nam Rami, Yoo Bada, & Huang āCharlieā JiaLi. While the group debuted with little to no involvement in their concept or sound, they have found themselves become more involved with each release, growing into a mixing pot of genres and concepts, along with a creative outlet for the girls. Multiple solo projects have pushed each member into a new scene of music and entertainment and they have grown up into more than the mermaid themed k-pop group they debuted as. Becoming known as āThe Nationās Magical Girlsā and āAngels of the Seaā Nereids went from a relatively unknown monster rookie group, to a staple in the industry of modern k-pop.
°āā.ą³ąæ*:d The Cast

š Freya Callaway-Lee
The Leader + Main Dancer of Nereids. Freya is a gentle girl who performs like a monster. Her natural beauty and charisma attracts the eyes of new and active fans alike !
š Baek Chaerin
Nereids Visual + Lead Vocalist. Chaerin is often referred to as a doll-like beauty, and has gained the fitting nickname āDoll Babyā from both peers in the industry and fans. She uses this as a stage name for her solo music projects !
š Nam Rami
The Main Rapper + Lead Dancer of Nereids. She doesnāt talk much but when she does, you canāt help but fall in love with the sound. A true angel !
š Yoo Bada
Nereids Main Vocalist a true beauty. If Chaerin is a āBaby Dollā Bada is a āPorcelain Dollā sheās beautiful but breaks easily, so be careful with her !
š Huang āCharlieā JiaLi
The Lead Rapper + Maknae of Nereids. Charlie, in a group of mermaids, is a siren. Though talented at rapping, the girls voice can hypnotize anyone with ears !
°āā.ą³ąæ*:d The Sound
Nereids dance pop influenced music was appreciated and loved by many early on in their career, the use of elements from glitch hop and electro pop was both addicting and fun. Their growth in sound ranges from various genres such as Rnb, Hyper Pop, Drum & Bass, UK Garage, Pop Punk, Ballads, and more. While the musicality itself was deeply appreciated, the concepts and imagery used to visually interpret the sound was a big part of why they are so popular. Both the music videos and album art have caused many to take a listen, leading them into the world of Nereids.

Interview from www.nrl.nl or, Alex and Miles messing with interviewers part 8647
Source (translated through google) x
Conversation with 'The Last Shadow Puppets' goes like a conference
Interview: The Last Shadow Puppets Singer Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) made another album with his best friend Miles Kane under the name The Last Shadow Puppets. Next week they will play in Paradiso.
Hester Carvalho
March 31, 2016
Reading time 5 minutes
The Last Shadow Puppets, a collaboration between Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane.
In response, the two dark-haired men bow their heads towards each other, look into each other's brown eyes and burst loose in two-voiced vocals: āWhy do birds suddenly appear/ everytime you are near/ just like me they want to be/ close to you...ā, and then a few more verses of Burt Bacharach's Close To You, while one peers over his pilot's glasses and the other snapping his fingers.
The question was whether Miles Kane came to Los Angeles to be closer to Alex Turner. Because Turner (30), known as the foreman of Arctic Monkeys, moved from Sheffield to LA before. The 29-year-old singer/guitarist Miles Kane ā same narrow trouser legs, same pink ring, same puppy eyes ā is his best friend and sounding board. Together they also form The Last Shadow Puppets, the band that Turner formed alongside Arctic Monkeys.
Arctic Monkeys has grown into a top act thanks to the 2013 album AM. The usually rather unapproachiable Turner turns out to be more approachable and talkative in combination with Kane than in Monkey company. The conversation about their new CD is like a conference: with quotes from well-known songs, twisted voices and ambiguous ones aside.
Also in the songs of the new album, Everything You've Come To Expect, Turner makes himself heard in a different way than with Arctic Monkeys. There he is the staccato rock singer, at The Last Shadow Puppets he is a crooner and sweet-voiced seducer. No vibrant word streams like in Arctic Monkeys but a sultry story, as heard in songs like Dracula Teeth or The Element Of Surprise. The new album largely follows the musical style of debut CD The Age of The Understatement from 2008. The songs refer to music from the 1960s when Phil Spector and Lee Hazlewood (produced for Nancy Sinatra) made their mini symphonies with the help of a choir and orchestra.
Surf guitar
In The Last Shadow Puppets, a surf guitar is on its heels by echoing timpani and the singing together of two yearning singers. Strings create 'suspense' through vibrant high notes. A hollow basement echo gives the whole the atmosphere of dilapidated glory.
Again, the duo teamed up with producer James Ford (who produced the debut). Arranger Owen Pallett also now came up with the parts for the orchestra. āThe difference with the debut was that Owen was in the studio at the same time as us,ā says Miles Kane. "Last time he added the numbers afterwards, now he was sitting in a room next to us." He gestures as if he were hitting a keyboard. āHe composes his string arrangements on the piano.ā
They tell how they wrote the new songs between the tours and record recordings of Arctic Monkeys. They did so in the basement of Turner's house, where they accompanied themselves on guitar and the Vox Continental, an electronic organ. The preparations took about two years.
Do they think they are perfectionist? āUsually not,ā Turner shakes his head. āBut it fits this music to come up with the songs in advance. We spent a lot of time on that.ā Although it turned out that everything was still changing in the studio. āThe title number, for example. I was actually not satisfied with that. That got a different build-up and a different pace in the studio. Now it's my favorite of the CD.ā
They compose on acoustic guitar, they say. āAnd sometimes on the piano. I can't play the piano well," says Turner. āThat can be beneficial. If you, like me, have been playing guitar for a long time, you tend to choose the same chords over and over all. I'll do something on the piano and see where it goes.ā He looks over his golden pilot's glasses. "I was messing with the piano and suddenly thought: hey, what is that finger doing there." Sotry look at Kane. āAnd that other finger there?ā They laugh. āFortunately, I finally knew how one finger got there and the other there. That gave the breakthrough for the title number.ā
Kane and Turner not only look the same, when they sing it is also difficult to distinguish where Turner ends and Kane begins. āWe take turns singing the main part,ā says Kane. In the stylish Aviation, the new single, Kane sings the first voice, and Turner then takes over. āWe squirm around each other. We practiced in that. At the debut we sang in unison, now we try it in 'close harmony', in turn we deliver the second voice.ā
On his own, Miles Kane sings the panic ballad Bad Habits. āThat's easier for me, I'm trained in punk. But from Alex I learned to sing softer. So that it would sound more sexy.ā Look at Turner. āWell, that's not what he said. But that was the intention.ā
Since I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor (2005), the first song with which Alex Turner made himself with Arctic Monkeys, his lyrics and word use stood out. Turner likes puns and outside concepts. His style is reminiscent of the language finds of Elvis Costello, who also likes to use complicated words. As a rapper, Turner folds terms like 'circumnavigate' and 'sectoral heterochromea' into his lyrics.
Does 'heterochromea' (two different colors of eyes) refer to the eyes of David Bowie? "No, to Jessica's." Let's get to know Kane: "Miles, remember, Jessica?" Then, leaning back: "I have a whole reservoir of these kinds of words. I use them wherever I can, but there is a limit to what your friends want to hear. They are usually not waiting for 'heterochromea' or 'odyssey'. That's why I keep it for my songs.ā He takes a crystal champagne glass from the table, taps his big pinky against it by way of percussion, and rhythmically sings a line about an 'apocalyptic lipstick campaign'.
New songs have titles like Sweet Dreams, TN and The Dream Synopsis. āI like to talk about my dreams. But I'm holding in. I know it's very boring for others to hear.ā
In The Dream Synopsis, a storm blows through 'Sheffield City Center', the city where he grew up. The addition 'There was palm tree debris everywhere' refers to his current home in Los Angeles. āThat was an attempt to connect two things that have nothing to do with each other. Because there is no logical connection between the two.ā He falls silently and stares deeply ahead. The silence lasts so long that Hunt starts laughing awkwardly and hits Turner on his knee. āHey man, what's up? The connection is you, right? They both play a role in your life.ā Turner: āIt's a love song, after all.ā For a person, a city, Sheffield? He nods dreamily. āFor a girl.ā
Chronicler of British youth
When Alex Turner broke through as a 19-year-old singer with Arctic Monkeys, he soon became considered a chronicler of the British youth he described, with mostly a fierce nightlife and limited future perspective. In life and text, Turner has now outgrown England. In Los Angeles, he and his Arctic Monkeys are part of the court around singer/guitarist Josh Homme, front man of the roaring rock band Queens Of The Stone Age; in his songs Turner now refers to American customs, American films, American locations.
The lustful Sweet dreams, TN, also fits into that category. āI just kind of always feel sick without you baby/ I ain't got anything to lick without you baby/ Nothing seems to stick without you babyā, he sings. The abbreviation in the title appears to stand for the state of Tennessee. āThe song is about a girl who came from there. In my mind I founded a city for her.ā Ironic look over the rim of pilot's glasses. ā'Sweet dreams, Tennessee'. I want to be there.ā

(mini) record review of the day #6
six desperate ballads ep by the garden
genre - post punk, art punk, dnb
the garden are one of my favorite bands right now, and i've wanted to review this ep for a while since it's one of my favorites of all time! the ep opens with āfilthy rabbit hole,ā a drum-heavy punk song that opens the ep with a clear vibe and sound theyāre going for. this whole ep is very sonically different from their other records, but they deliver this heavy yet melodic sound very well the whole way through. in this song, i especially like the gun sound effect that's heard quite early; i think it adds a really nice touch, and i love when the boys use sound effects in really any song. the delivery and timing are always amazing and always add uniqueness to the song. next up on this ep is āthe nightmare.ā the name is incredibly fitting, as it delivers this haunting undertone all through the song. it has dnb amen breaks as the drumbeat and this underlining pad in a scary tone. this song also has sound effects, with whistling and howling being heard. all these elements, compiled with wyatt's typical vocals, make a very interesting and horror-esque song. to close the first half of this ep is definitely one of my favorites from the garden, āman of the people.ā this song has been on loop since i first listened to this ep; the chorus is so catchy and always in my head. to me, it really stands out because of its unique sound that contrasts the rest of their discography. wyattās vocals on this song also stick out to me a lot; there are whispers and screams from him, which sound great and are well mixed in through the entire song. the guitar almost feels emotional and catches my attention every time the song starts. this song is probably a top 3 song from them despite it sounding quite different from some of their other tracks.
moving onto the second half of this ep, we get āhell hole,ā which is another drum-heavy, sound-effect-heavy song. it fits really nicely with the rest of the songs on this ep and even contains some reoccurring sounds from other songs, which i really like seeing in projects. it's incredibly fast-paced in parts and captures the punk genre of this ep perfectly! i don't see anyone talking about this song either⦠really underrated in my opinion! nearing the end of this ep, we get a quite upbeat song compared to the rest of the songs, āopen hearted.ā it's still very punk but feels a lot happier than the other songs, which makes it stick out to me. it has this catchy piano all throughout it with vocals that flow with it perfectly, which gives this song a lot of longevity and rhythm to it. to close off this album is another all-time favorite from the boys from me, āballet.ā this song perfectly encapsulates what the garden is, in my opinion; it mixes elements of punk and dnb (which is common if youāre familiar with their discography) but in a really new and inventive way. i have some bias toward this song because i heard it live in 2024 and absolutely loved it, and i strongly believe any song by the garden is enhanced if it has any laugh sample in it! it has moments of straight guitar and drums, dance music, and a mixture of both, which i think makes this track so unique, not just in their discography but in general. it's definitely the most fun song on the album; i feel like it's impossible to just skip it because of how great it is as a track. i also love the music video for this song; i could watch it over and over and not get bored of the visuals or music. the only negative i have about this song is that i wish it was longer!!!! in conclusion, i truly believe this ep is flawless and some of my favorite music out there in general. it's new, inventive, and all the things i like to see in a consistent project from one of my favorite bands. i'd love to see more music like this from the boys in the future, and i really hope they stay on this track for projects together moving forward!

BOYNEXTDOOR LORE AND THEORIES - LET'S GO!
knock, knock whoās there? THE BOYNEXTDOOR
I'm going to try explain the BOYNEXTDOOR lore so far from the music videos - and some of my own theories, this is a long one so take your time!
WHO!
Their debut single album introduces the exhilaration of first love. The tracksāāBut I Like You,ā āOne and Only,ā and āSerenadeāācapture the nervous excitement and earnestness of young crushes, presented through conversational lyrics and catchy melodies.
Their debut album, it's about Taesan (our MC) falling in love with a girl, as seen all the members are chasing after this particular girl in the MVS. Taesan is the āBOYNEXTDOORā and the other members are portrayed as his alter egos / emotions. This theory has been confirmed which means Taesanās character has DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder.Ā
SERENADE MV
At near the end of this music video Taesan knocks on the door to where the girl he has a crush on lives, her father answers the door. All the members are standing by Taesan at the porch when the father finally opens the door.
When the father opens the door he seems to not notice the other members, only Taesan. Because all the other members are Taesanās alter egos.
WHYā¦Ā
Serving as a thematic continuation, this EP delves into the aftermath of a relationship. Songs such as "But Sometimes" and "Crying" reflect the pain and confusion following a breakup, portraying the emotional turbulence that ensues.
BUT SOMETIMES MV
Taesan is the only one with a skin on the map view, simply because the others don't exist.
HOW?
Concluding the trilogy, this EP examines the reasons behind the relationship's end. The lead single "Earth, Wind & Fire" uses elemental metaphors to depict the depth of emotions, while "Dear. My Darling" offers a heartfelt farewell, encapsulating the journey from love to loss.
EARTH, WIND & FIRE MV THEORIES

19.99
This mini-album marks the group's transition into adulthood. The title signifies the cusp of turning 20, symbolizing a new chapter. Tracks like "Nice Guy" delve into themes of self-identity and the challenges of growing up, offering a candid look into their evolving perspectives.Ā
I want to mention maybe they named the album 19.99 to hint to the K-drama called āSee You In My 19th Lifeā this K-drama is all about DID.
ā19.99ā feels like being stuck between identities. Not 20. Not quite full. Almost there. Fragmented.
It mirrors the idea of being on the verge of a breakthrough or adulthoodāor integrationābut still split.
It also sounds like an unfinished identity. Like version 19.99 of someone who never became whole.
DANGEROUS MV THEORIES

NO GENRE
This is an upcoming album so I dont have much info yet so Iāll start with the only content we have covered from this album which is their single song.
IF I SAY I LOVE YOU SINGLE MV (This song has been confirmed in the track-list for NO GENRE)
First let me point out that the cover of the song has a boy representing all the members in the MV. Leehan with the balloons, Riwoo in the bathtub, Woonhak with the bubbles, Sungho with the guitar, Taesan sitting alone and Jaehyun laying on all the clothes. Theyāre drawn as the same boy because itās supposed to portray Taesan as all of them.
Thereās also a part in this MV where Taesan looks behind himself where his friends were with him but when he looked back this time they were gone.Ā
At the start of the MV Taesan is seen trying to confess to the girl but seemingly fails. - Iāll get back to this when I talk about the end of the MV.
Throughout the MV are all pressuring him to confess to the girl (heās pressuring himself or so his alters are, there are two times where the sentence āSAY ITā is shown in this MV).
RIWOO IS THE REAL CORE / HOST OR FIRST ALTER? THEORY PT.1
I have a theory that Riwoo is the real core instead of Taesan, here we see Riwoo going into a photobooth taking some pictures by himself but ALSO with the other members. Now if he was taking pictures with the other members Taesan should be the only one seen on the pictures right? Well no that didn't happen cause in the pictures the only person we see is Riwoo which shouldn't be possible if heās an alter, he may be the real core. Iāll get back to this theory cause there are more points to where heās shown to maybe be the real core.
All the members are showing through the TV because theyāre all the same person.
I didnāt mention this but thereās a flower Taesan tries giving the girl this whole MV and at the end he finally succeeds in giving this flower to her.Ā
BUT right after this, we see a close up of Taesanās face until he suddenly turns into EVERY MEMBER, they are all the same person (obv)
At the end of If I Say I Love You Taesan gets closer to realizing his DID condition.
NO GENRE ALBUM TRAILER THEORIES
Iām going to cover up what title each member got in this trailer and what it could mean in their upcoming album. (SO THESE ARE THEORIES!!)
First to start it off I think this album will have a BIG part of Taesan's DID andāmight be the main chapter of his condition exploring his alters and emotions.Ā
(I fell in love with this trailer. Why is it HYYH coded?š)
Exploring this trailer was just fun for me!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The āNo ____ā labels aren't just traits, but coping mechanisms, emotional states, or alter egos Taesan has developed. The chaos and disjointedness of the trailer is intentionalāit mirrors the fragmentation inside Taesanās mind. The surreal events, like frozen time and distortion, represent dissociation or switching alters.
āNo Genreā is the perfect metaphor for not knowing who you are anymore, or not wanting to be boxed into one version of yourself. (Taesan probably doesnāt know who he is any longer after his realization in If I Say I Love You MV)
The loud visuals, the freeze-frame surrealism, the breakdownsāit all shows a system trying to reorganize itself.
Leehan - No Shame
Represents uninhibited expression.
He does what he wants without fear of judgment. Possibly a defense against traumaāif shame was too overwhelming, this alter formed to counter it with shamelessness. He wakes up Riwoo in the trailer, waking up Riwoo could symbolize the beginning of a "switch"āactivating other parts of Taesan.
Jaehyun - No Pain
Taesan walks up, puts on gloves, and punches Jaehyun. When he punches Jaehyun, time freezes and Jaehyun rapidly switches into multiple versions of himselfādifferent clothes, glasses, lipstick, lightsālike an identity glitch, a fractured identity or different personas.
After the punch, his wisdom tooth gets knocked out.
His wisdom tooth is knocked out = symbolic of growing up, losing innocence, or experiencing transformation.
āNo Painā might not mean he doesnāt feel pain, but rather that he suppresses or hides itāmaybe each of those brief versions of him is a mask he wears.
The punch embodies Taesanās attempt to shut off emotional/physical pain.
Taesan - No Harm
All the members are frozen around a car.
All the members are holding bats, looking like something violent or chaotic is about to happen.
But Taesan isnāt frozenāheās still moving, blurring slightly like he's moving outside of time.
He notices a small snail.
He picks it up gently and places it on a leaf, safely out of harmās way.
Then he grabs the bat again and shatters the car window.
Can seemingly move through frozen timeāsuggesting heās aware of deeper truths or reality.Breaking the car window afterward is a contradiction = he can cause harm, but chooses not to (unless he must).
Helping the snail might symbolize Taesan protecting the core self, or a fragile part of his identity he doesnāt want to destroy in all the chaos.
Snails move slowly, just like healing, or processing trauma.
His blurred movement could mean heās not bound by normal timeāmaybe he sees multiple timelines or potential outcomes. Taesan seems to be able to freeze time and go back in time.
I think thereās something very symbolic here:
First, protect life
Then, break what needs to be broken
I also want to mention it seems like Taesan is starting to take much more control, itās probably because of his realization after If I Say I Love You MV, because now he knows of his alters he doesnāt stand back and takes control.
Woonhak - No Drama
We see 4 of the members eating dumplings which they share while reading manga.
Woonhak - Taesan - Jaehyun - Sungho
When there are only 3 dumplings left, 3 men come up and seem to start a fight over who gets the last dumplings. The rest of the members join in on this fight.
A man in a motorcycle helmet comes in frame holding a box he places it down hard enough to make lots of dumplings fall out of it, this probably ended the fight.
Woonhak is chill at first, but the dumpling fight hints at underlying tension.
The sudden abundance of dumplings implies drama is often unnecessary, or that conflict can be solved with perspective.
His label "No Drama" might mean he defuses conflict, or doesnāt buy into unnecessary emotional spirals.
He's surrounded by chaos but stays centered = possibly the peacemaker of the alters.
His āNo Dramaā stance might be how Taesan tries to normalize chaosāmake things seem okay when they arenāt.
Possibly the most āsocially acceptableā mask Taesan uses.
Sungho - No Feelings
We see the members under a small staircase outside it begins to rain, Jaehyun walks into the rain and signals for the others to join him as he begins to dance / play around in the rain until the others join him, except Sungho who doesnāt join and only watches them - with no emotions / feelings.
Leehan seems to notice Sungho standing there alone, but now with an umbrella over him.
(Note I feel like actually we see Sungho emotionless really often in recent MVS)
Sungho is physically present but emotionally absent. Dissociation isnāt always dramaticāit can look like this: being surrounded by emotion, but feeling nothing. He doesnāt share in the happiness or the sadness. Heās just... there.
In DID, certain parts of the system might "hold" emotions while others suppress them to protect the person from being overwhelmed.
Sungho may be the alter that carries emotional numbness, created to shield Taesan from feelings that were too much to handle.
The rest of the membersāwho are also parts of Taesanāare releasing, expressing, feeling. Their movement into the rain might represent Taesan trying to heal, feel joy, or connect. But Sungho resists, because heās the part that has locked those feelings away to protect the system.
He could even represent depression, suppression, or trauma-induced detachment.
The rain scene with Sungho becomes a powerful metaphor: parts of Taesan are healing, but some (like No Feelings) are still frozen in place. - Connection to the snail scene from Taesan.
Detachment = likely a protector alter or one created from emotional shutdown.
Doesnāt engage with joy or sadness. He watches but doesnāt participate.
Holding an umbrella = shielding the system from emotional overwhelm.
The scene where he stands alone while others dance is huge. It's a literal dissociation moment!
Leehan (No Shame) noticing him could represent a part of Taesan trying to reconnect with what was emotionally cut off. But most alters donāt interact meaningfully unless the system is becoming self-aware which shows Taesan is slowly getting self-aware after If I Say I Love You.
I have a feeling that Sungho might represent a trauma-holding alter, or even the part that formed during something very painful.
SUNGHO IS āBREAKING DOWNā EMOTIONALLY THEORY
After Taesan confesses (the first moment where all of the alters are shown flickering into one body from the "If I Say I
Love You" MV), Sunghoās role as "No Feelings" starts to crack.
The almost-accident might represent that his job (protecting Taesan from emotion) is no longer sustainable.
Heās literally almost hit by the force of Taesanās emotional growth.
Thatās why Sungho is almost hit by a car in "If I Say I Love you".Ā
In some DID systems, when certain alters feel like their ājobā is no longer needed, they may:
Go dormant Dissociate
Or in symbolic storytelling, be āerasedā
Sungho might be emotionally unstable in that momentāheās the last one not healing, not playing, not connecting. Maybe this will happen in the new album?Ā
(Sungho is a very confusing character in my opinionš)
Riwoo - No Posing
We see the members getting ready to take a photo, Riwoo enters the room last. He sits down, It looks like Jaehyun whispers something to him. They all pose and a picture is taken.
āNo Posingā might reflect authenticity or the suppressed original Taesan trying to resurface.
He enters at the end, like a final piece clicking in.
Jaehyun whispering to him could be the internal system passing a message: āYouāre ready now.ā
Or his entrance could symbolize Riwoo returning to the system or becoming active again after being dormant or hidden.
Riwoo joining the group photo = acceptance or integration.
The picture could also imply Taesan's system is stabilizing, or that heās embracing his complexity instead of hiding from it.
RIWOO FIRST ALTER OR REAL CORE / HOST? THEORY PT.2
Unlike the others (who are overconfident, numb, goofy, violent, etc.), Riwoo seems the most ānormalā or neutral.
āNo Posingā could mean: Iām just me. Iām not performing for anyone.
In the trailer, the final scene is all the members posing together.
Riwoo enters last, like heās finally ready to step into the pictureāto face all the other parts of himself.
This could symbolize the real Taesan finally acknowledging the existence of his alters and choosing to reclaim his full identity.
In a metaphorical sense:
Riwoo could be the boy next door.
The boy Taesan used to be. The one under all the noise, pressure, love, fear, and brokenness. The one who might finally be ready to come back.
THANK YOU SO MUCH IF YOU READED THIS LOL - this is my first post šš
I'm so excited for no genre and will definetly try to cover up more of the lore and come up with some creative theories!

Sparkstember Day 11: Angst In My Pants (The Decline And Fall Of Me)
Album two of two in the series of Sparks' immaculate new wave releases! Iconic in every way imaginable from the music to the artwork to ONE music video. I think it's more musically (and lyrically!) varied and mature in tone (besides... a couple exceptions. Yes, an album called Angst In My Pants) than its predecessor, which is a very good development. These songs will leave you chuckling and bopping along and also pondering the intricacies of human existence. Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but it can't be denied that behind much of the earnestness and theatricality here, there's lots of quite emotional, introspective and thought-provoking stuff to be found.
Thematically, this album goes everywhere. One moment we are in Sextown U.S.A, the next we're visiting Disneyland, California where we make friends among people and animals. On a more serious note though, I think the biggest emotional whiplash one could experience between different songs on an album is between Mickey Mouse and Sherlock Holmes. And yet there's still a very prominent element of humour, even in those songs that are on the more serious or dramatic end of the scale.
I said a few days ago that I'd try to return to the topic of Sparks' brand of humour and how it works, but I don't feel intelligent enough to analyse that today. And I'm pretty sure that from what I've seen, Other People And The Maels Themselves (Said It Better Than Me). So instead, as a little send-off, please remember: if a mouse can be special, well, SO CAN YOU!!! š«µ
Favourite songs (and other highlights):
Angst In My Pants: literally no other song like this one in this world. I can't tell why that is but it's just. So great
I Predict: I had a weird kind of effect where I heard this song in my early days of Sparking and it felt VEEERY familiar to me. I think it was due to the genre / style here, it reminded me of something specific, at first I thought it was very glam rock but I'm pretty sure that this is not it but something else (and I don't know what to call it in that case!). Anyway, banger song
Tarzan And Jane: whoa wait, am I already skipping to the third-to-last song on the tracklist?? I guess I am. This one's great and one of my early favs too (I wonder how long it will take until I run out of things to say about my fav songs and it all just becomes this list of 'it's very good and I like it a lot. next.')
The Decline And Fall Of Me: it's great!! I like it!! And, of course, "check out my pizzas"
Eaten By The Monster Of Love: personal reasons that lead to a printed and framed mini-comic of my making appearing on my desk, which features some of the lyrics of this song, which caused me to have it permanently stuck in my head for a pretty long period of time. And this way I ended up liking it much much more than I did in the beginning, when it still seemed somehow pretty unremarkable to me
#i probably should have been putting these under a read more from the start. welp.#not very happy with this post idk really what my vision here was. but if i try to rewrite it i will start progressively losing my mind#so please accept this mess today. ability to articulate my thoughts died a final death i think#i hope that the tone of a Slightly Annoying Music Reviewer Who Tries to Appear Smart Yet Cool#that i accidentally put on here. is at least somewhat enjoyable#i think that someone who actually loves angst might be a better person to talk about why it's so good#i like it a lot but in a more 'acknowledging its brillance and respecting that deeply' way#nothing negative to say about it! it's just not a personal favourite. and yet i still find it so great on some fundamental level#oh and credit to @carcarrot for the idea of how a collection of frozen pizzas could be displayed hehehe#sparkstember 2024#my art#goose monologues#edit: ok i guess tumblr decided that it'll just post scheduled posts instead of saving them when i edit them#so have an early post in that case (i already had to delete it and make it again bcs of this yesterday ugh)

whump of all time
SEMIFINALS!
Find links and propaganda under the cut. Quarterfinalist and later match-ups are untagged, so your votes and reblogs matter!
Once Upon A Time:
(gifset 1, gifset 2)
"There's blood, wounds, captivity, bondage, a slow-dipping-mechanism, a big rescue, and excellent acting by Colin O'Donoghue - who delivers the tiniest whimper and the most delectable of trembles for our whump-loving eyes to devour!" ~ @killian-whump
"[...] Killian was BROKEN. Absolutely and heart-wrenchingly devastated. He was tortured within an inch of his life (⦠or death, I guess) and practically left to slowly drop into a pit of eternal despair.
Killian was not easy to break. He would get injured and get back up with a sneer and an "I'm alright love you should see the other guy".
But to reach that point? The point of telling Emma she should have kept herself safe instead of saving him from this torment, to hold on to her like she was his lifeline, to SMILE that small smile from the first bit of hope he'd gotten since he ended up there?
The relief upon watching this episode for the first time was visceral. For two episodes we knew Hook was being tortured, we saw him try and fail to limp to safety, we saw his resolve and defiance desperately hold on, we saw him accept his fate, we saw him preferring to be tortured further than hurt his friends⦠And then he got saved! And he had no witty comeback, no effort to hide his pain. He just fucking collapsed in the arms of his beloved, of his saviour, and held on for a moment to realize that it was real, she was there, he was finally safe.
Add to that some amazing, jaw-dropping, emotional acting by Colin O'Donoghue, how can you get any better than that?
Anyway vote for ouat. Because this whole torture mini arc existing is probably what caused a chain reaction of me understanding and accepting I love whump, so. I wouldn't be here torturing blorbos if it weren't for it š¤£" @piracytheorist
"god tier acting" ~ @caliburn-the-sword
The Young Blood Chronicles (Save Rock and Roll's music videos, Fall Out Boy):
(link)
"Everyone gets bloodied, bruised, beaten up, tortured, rescued, limbs are amputated - it's brutal. Alone Together is particularly strong."
sorry for being late, but you want YBC propaganda? then you're getting YBC propaganda. I know you're a FOB fan, but I will be writing this for the benefit of those who don't know what YBC is, for better propaganda purposes! and yeah this is gonna be LONG. sorry.
So! The Youngblood Chronicles (shortened to YBC) is a series of 11 music videos made by the band Fall Out Boy, for their album Save Rock And Roll (you know this album, it's the one with My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark on it). The whole thing is quite short, less than fifty minutes long (even shorter if you don't count the uncut version's credits!!), and every single music video has some element of whump in it. This propaganda is gonna break down each individual music vid, and at i'll also talk a little bit about the irl context the album was written in, and why even THAT can be a little bit whumpy if you're insane like me!
(note: i'm going in the original release order over the uncut order, hence why i'm starting with MSKWYDITD instead of The Phoenix)
My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark: Arguably the least whump-y out of all of them, but man, seeing all of Fall Out Boy's discography and memorabilia be burnt while people are dancing around the destruction? Man, when you know the real life stuff (the reception the band had in 2009, leading to them to take a three year hiatus)... and at the end, you see four guys bound in the back of a van!! And that van is getting burnt!! Burn everything you love and burn the... ashes.
The Phoenix: NOW here's the first of MANY whump tastes you'll get. Patrick Stump, the singer/cutie of the band, gets kidnapped, tied to a chair, has his hand CHOPPED OFF and mailed to his bandmate/best friend Pete Wentz, then gets tied down and utterly tortured by women who are laughing at his misery the entire time, getting prodded and stabbed by tools for... well, you'll see. By the end of the video, Pete and the other two members of FOB (Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley) have been kidnapped by these mysterious women too, with Pete specifically getting kidnapped by the blonde woman he was in bed with when Patrick's hand got delivered to him. If you enjoy cute boys getting tied down, covered in blood, and writhing around like worms while getting tortured... well you'll enjoy all of YBC but specifically you'll enjoy this!! I did :D! The war is won, before it's begun, release the doves, surrender love...
Young Volcanoes: Good news, FOB has been reunited! Bad news, by the women who dismembered Patrick! And now all the band members are tied to chairs, hooked up to IVs full of god knows what types of drugs, and blindfolded (all except Patrick). They are then forced to drink, snort hard drugs, and are force fed Patrick's organs! Yep, all four of them are forced to eat their lead singer's guts, and are so fucking drugged up they don't even realize what's happening (and now you know what the women were doing to him in the last mv, and you even get a nice little shot of the hack job of stitching him back up)!! Patrick hallucinates everyone having fun, but of course, at the end, all of them are knocked out because of the drugs. Americana, exotica, do you wanna feel a little beautiful baby?
Alone Together: This is the song the OG propaganda mentioned, and for good reason. All four of them are shipped off into little personalized torture rooms, and, well, tortured! Pete is able to break out and even steals the hook from the girl who was torturing him, but little does he know that'll be his own undoing... also, in general, this song has some whumpy elements, specifically the line "my heart is like a stallion/they love it more when it's broke-in"... but notice how easy it is to hear "broke-in" as "broken"! At the end of the video, Pete is at least able to find Patrick (Joe and Andy have NOT been having a good time, either!! But sadly, they aren't found by Pete, but Pete DOES find Big Sean), and is even able to attach the hook to the stump (ha!) where his hand used to be. But something is clearly wrong with Patrick now. His eyes are yellow, and as the song ends, we hold on him, sneering and twitching. This is the road to ruin - and we're started at the end...
The Mighty Fall: First off if you say this is the worst song off of SRAR I will hunt you for sport. OKAY ANYWAYS, chronologically this comes after MSKWYDITD, and yeah, the four guys are the members of FOB. Pete is able to free himself with Patrick's new hook hand, and is able to get the other three out while Pete is hacking up a lung from the fire they just barely escaped. But they're not done getting their shit rocked yet. A gang of children show up (the leader being the kid Patrick waved at right before he was kidnapped back in the Phoenix MV), and proceed to separate them and beat the living shit out of them. The leader kid who's chasing Patrick plays something on a boombox... which triggers Patrick to go yellow-eyed again (from here on out i'll call it "going Youngblood" or "Youngblood self"). It was confirmed in the commentary track that ANY music would cause him to go Youngblood. And knowing Patrick IRL fucking loves to create/compose music... yeah! Take something he loves and turn it into something that drives him insane!! I'm normal!! And also the irl parallel you could draw to his solo career doing the same thing to him (on a less uh Dramatic level but you know)!!! Ouch!!!! Big Sean is able to save Patrick, but at the cost of his own life (and a killer rap verse... HELL YEAH I'M A DICK GIRL, ADDICTED TO YOU). Oh, how the mighty fall in love...
Just One Yesterday: The last vestiges of comfort you're gonna get for a WHILE. The four are separated, getting even more beaten up, Pete vomits up a snake, Andy gets his shit rocked by a homeless guy, Joe has to use white sheets as a makeshift tourniquet bc his leg got fucked up in The Mighty Fall MV, and Patrick is picked up by a kind stranger (hi Foxes! you have a very pretty voice! PLEASE KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL!). And finally, finally we get a hope spot. Fall Out Boy is reunited (the part where Andy just grabs onto Patrick's arm, in disbelief they're both alive... augh!!! AUGH!!!!), and for a moment, it seems they've been delivered to a hospital... before Foxes' eyes go completely black, looking at Patrick... and turns on the radio. She's able to trigger the Youngblood. And now Patrick is gone. The other three scramble into the hospital, Patrick not far behind, determined to kill them to stop the noise in his head. If Heaven's grief brings Hell's reign, then I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday...
Where Did The Party Go: Patrick, now fully consumed by the Youngblood brainwashing, is now stalking his bandmates in a hospital. Patrick is seeing visions of the hospital as an abandoned party, Andy has to painfully disinfect the wounds he's gotten, Pete is able to call for the police, and Joe... oh, poor Joe. He barricades himself into a room, but not well enough. Patrick finds him, and kills him, slitting his throat with the hook hand, showing no remorse at all... until Andy and Pete find them. The Youngblood wears off, and Patrick looks to what he's done, and is horrified at what he's done to his friend. And, bad news for him, the police are here, ready to arrest the murderer. All Andy and Pete can do is watch as tears roll down Patrick's eyes. And for the extra IRL context, this was the first song written for the album that made Pete and Patrick realize they had to get FOB back together... so lets match that with a music video where the member who helped get the band together in the first place dies. By the hands of the kid he found. Let's fade away together, one dream at a time...
Death Valley: Joe gets... uh, a little comfort? I mean, he thinks he's getting sent to heaven but goes to hell, buuuuut I think doing drugs in rock and roll hell with Tommy Lee is actually a pretty sweet deal, better than the deal the other three got! Pete and Andy are being interrogated while Patrick is in a jail cell. We find out that the cult that kidnapped them, Silence the Noise, is lead by Pete's girlfriend from WAAAAY back in the Phoenix MV, Courtney Love. And at the end of the MV... Patrick is bailed out of jail by Silence the Noise. They have him again. And this time, they're not gonna let him walk out until he's fully under their control. 'Cause tonight it's just fire alarms and losing you...
Rat a Tat: Silence the Noise has Patrick, and they utterly brainwash him, A Clockwork Orange style, with electroshock stimulation to keep him from looking away or closing his eyes, until there is nothing left. Patrick Stump does not exist anymore. Only the Youngblood, pliant under the control of Silence the Noise, tasked to destroy what he once loved; music. Andy dies at the hands of the cult, and now Pete has to protect a briefcase, the thing that got them into this mess, and keep it away from Silence the Noise, all while his best friend hunts him down. Are you ready for another bad poem?
Miss Missing You: THE WHUMPIEST OF THE WHUMP. What if we were best friends but you've been driven insane and I know the only way to stop you is to kill you and it was my fault you got into this mess and I was the one who gave you the weapon that will be my own undoing. What if we both died at the same time. What if we died, both of us failing the mission we had before us. What if that was a reference to one of their first music videos. What if this song was originally written for Patrick's solo album but he realized it was more of a Fall Out Boy song so it was scrapped until now. What if there's a legit argument to be made that half the lyrics for this song was written by Patrick. What if we were both boys. Grips walls, yeha i'm normal. If you don't watch ANY other music vid, watch Miss Missing You. Sometimes before it gets better, the darkness gets bigger. The person that you'd take a bullet for is behind the trigger.
Save Rock And Roll: And our final track gives us a final bit of comfort. Patrick is able to overcome the Youngblood, and gets into heaven, where all of FOB is finally, finally reunited. God (aka Elton John) gives them new instruments and brings them back to earth, so they can do what they love; play music together. Which just so happens to release people from the control of Silence the Noise! But, because we can't have nice things, a cult within Silence the Noise got a hold of the briefcase, and summoned a spirit that starts to kill everyone. FOB stands together, and blasts the evil spirit, the blood coming up to the gates of heaven and covering Elton John in it. And... that's how it ends. No true resolution. Just Elton John covered in blood, as the song fades out. Oh, no! Wherever I go, go! Trouble seems to follow! I only plugged in to save rock and roll!
UH. AGAIN I APOLOGIZE FOR THE LENGTH. but i really wanted to express just how much WHUMP they manage to fit into less than fifty minutes, all backed by an amazing album colored by the three years they were apart. colored by how they grew, colored by how bad the hiatus was for Patrick specifically, colored by how Confessions of a Pariah got Pete to reach out to help him, and this album came out of it, Fall Out Boy came back out of it, and now here we are, ten years later, with the title track being performed every night for their concert, with all the band singing the final lines together, and the line you are what you love, not who loves you hitting every single night.
SORRY. LISTEN TO FALL OUT BOY. thanks for letting me rant.
