desc ; beating jake in any new york times game is nearly unimaginable. nearly. you've done it before, but it's a rare occurrence. so what happens when you surprisingly beat him in all the games there are to offer on that website?

pairing ; smart!simjaeyun x gf!reader genre ; fluff, established rs, hs setting wc ; 920 notes ; yes this is based on today's games lol. what was that mini crossword though...

“this is boring,” you mutter, probably a little too loudly because your physics teacher glances your way and frowns. lowering your voice, you whisper to your seatmate, busy copying down what’s on the whiteboard. “let’s play wordle.” 

jake gives you a half skeptical, half exasperated look. “we’re supposed to be doing practice 3.2, you know that?” 

unbothered, you stick your tongue out at him and taunt him, “you don’t play now, you automatically lose for today! ‘cause i’m going to get it right now.” 

it’s become a daily habit for you and your boyfriend to exchange a knowing look in the middle of class, and hurriedly type in the familiar link to see who’ll get the five letter word first. fortunately for you, your boyfriend just happens to be your seatmate, and it seems you have escaped the wrath of your teachers knowing about your relationship. because otherwise they would have put you in one corner and him in the other. 

it’s amazing how they haven’t separated the two of you, though, for the amount of noise generated from your side of the classroom. but you’re sure every outburst of uncontrollable laughter makes them regret their decision more and more everyday. 

usually, jake’s the one who figures out the word first, or with fewer guesses. you make a fuss, complaining about how he’s ‘totally cheating his way through’. ‘how?’ he asks, smiling in a bemused manner, and you’ll just accuse him of looking up the word or peeking at your screen. other times, when you win, you (obviously) make a fuss, and seize the chance to gloat about your achievement. 

he may be better at english, but you never lose when it comes to teasing him. 

so, threatened by your previous taunt, jake fiercely types in the link, sliding his laptop so you can’t see his screen. 

“it’s okay,” you jeer, turning up your nose his way. “i don’t need to see your screen to win. unlike someone.” 

“how many times do i have to tell you i don’t cheat??? i’m just smart. you have a skill issue.” 

oh, you’re so going to beat him today. 

you type in the five letters of your favourite starter word,

the ‘e’ is probably at the end. ugh, these words are stupid, it could be forever until i get it right. 

you sneak a glance at jake’s screen just to provoke him, and you’re met with a competitive glare. 

“no peeking. see? you always do this,” he whines, shoving your shoulder. 

rolling your eyes, you lean back and type,

damn, the ‘e’ isn’t at the end. that’s funny. then it’s at the start. here… what word starts with ‘eb?’

when the letter tiles flip over to reveal a fully green word, you gasp a little too loudly and shake jake’s arm. which earns you a stare from your teacher again, but he says nothing. does he even care about what you do in class? probably not. 

“i got it, in three! it’s hard today,” you giggle, mentally crossing your fingers he doesn’t humble you by getting the word in two. (you’ll actually hide and repent.)

jake immediately turns your way and grins. you can’t tell if he’s acting, or if he’s actually beaten you. “i got it in one.” 

“no way, you liar!” you slide the laptop so you can see his screen. unsurprisingly, he hasn’t gotten it. in fact, he’s already submitted three guesses without figuring out the word. hence, you are victorious. you smugly reach over and flick his arm. 

“yeah yeah, i didn’t. but i’ll beat you in the other games.” 

when he finally gets the word, you move on to connections, and you beat him for this one too, though it takes you both some time. because in what world is ‘fathom’ a unit of length? why is ‘yard’ under that same category and not under ‘____ sale?’ jake mutters something under his breath about how american the system is when you show him the answers. 

strands is easy to you, but for some reason it takes jake some time to realise the theme. (‘you don’t know anything art related, do you?’ ‘obviously not. that’s why i’m in this physics class with you, stupid.’) 

soon enough, class is over, but you haven’t finished playing all the games. on the way home, you challenge each other to set a new high score on spelling bee, see who solves the hardest sudoku first, and battle to get the lowest timing for the mini crossword. 

you beat him for every single one. 

by the time you have to part ways and say goodbye, jake’s rolled his eyes enough times for them to stay stuck there at the top of his head. your teasing just never ends, even until the final moment. 

jake opens his arms for his routinely goodbye hug, and when you give it to him, you can’t help but to whisper, “i think i’m starting to get better at these dumb games. better than you.” 

instead of getting annoyed like you hoped he would, he merely replies with a short kiss on your cheek, “maybe you’re just a genius today, baby. must have donated some of my brain cells overnight. i’ll beat you tomorrow.” 

though the flirtatious quip he deadpans does throw you off a little, you can’t let it affect you. through a slightly blurred vision and warm cheeks, you laugh it off and wave as you walk your separate way home. “you can try.”

I blinked at him in slight astonishment at the number of blue flowers he found. With the color of the blooms being somewhat rare and many being off-season, the purchase was on the pricier side for a bouquet, but not enough to cause concern. As we continued our way onto the street, I studied the rather comically large bouquet in Mihya's arms while he looked around for more things he wanted. The small clusters of blue end up catching my eye instead of the larger blossoms.

We sure ended up getting a lot of blue cornflowers... I guess it makes sense since they're the national flower of Germany, but they suit you. With their nickname being the "Kaiser’s Flower," and these ones quite literally belonging to you and all, it’s very cute.

You're like my height now... It's a bit jarring when you normally tower over me as an adult. Anyways, seeing you like this is really setting off my maternal/big sister instincts, so you wanna go shopping? I'll buy you anything you want. the smell of freshly baked bread just pulled out the oven filled mikasa's nostrils. steam wafted the kitchen's air as the woman poured herself a cup of chamomile tea. she felt her legs guild her to the cabin's front door, her unoccupied hand grabbing the silver-hinge that led her to the outside world.

she sat on the porch's wooden seat, her peach-tone lips taking occasional sips from the sapphire-blue and pearl-white marbled teacup. she could feel the sensation of something fuzzy rubbing against her leg. her gunmetal-grey eyes lens widened in adoration as they recognized the furry creature that lovingly caressed her.

"blume," mikasa gushed, her fingers reaching down to pet the eggshell-white rabbit's fur. "my beloved. where's your sister?"

mikasa's ears suddenly picked up the audible sensations of chewing, her head following the sound until her eyes landed on an acorn-brown haired bunny consuming the freshly watered grass just five feet away.

"blase," mikasa cooed. "my babies."

then suddenly, "am i one of your babies, too?"

mikasa whipped her head to her left, that raven-black BOBBBBB piercing the air with the woman's movement.

"eren," mikasa greeted, a rosy-blush forming on her ivory cheeks as eren crouched down to plant a kiss on her forehead.

"how's my baby?" eren questioned mikasa, before his large, veined hand OOOO PAPI EAT IT reached down to rub mikasa's protruding belly. "how's both of my babies?"

"i'm good, baby," mikasa responded, her hand reaching up to run her fingers through eren's cocoa-brown loss. "your baby however keeps kicking his mommy."

"his?" eren questioned, a smile growing on the corners of his lips. "you think we're having an eren junior, baby?"

"it might be a girl," mikasa answered, her hands tracing the round of her growing bump. "we could have a little mikasa junior, instead."

"as long as our baby has your eyes," eren retorted, his hands reaching down to grab his fishing net filled with trout freshly caught that morning by him.

"i made pumpernickel," the woman absentmindedly said, her hands reaching for the teacup she'd previously neglected. "it's sitting on the kitchen counter."

"my love," eren said, his body rushing into the cabin with that stank ass fish bag in tow. "i''m gonna dick you down so good later."

"don't stink up the house! bring the net back outside!" mikasa called after him.

regardless, mikasa had never felt more at peace. she had her little cabin with the love of her life, her little bunnies, and her mini eren on the way. through all the chaos she faced, mikasa finally found the tranquility she desperately needed. a life with just her and her husband.

mini drabble - Digital Hearts

Pre-relationship but Kaden has feelings for Wrench.

Kaden walking into 10 Donuts coffee shop with Marcus only to see Wrench and Naomi talking and instantly Kaden looks to the floor and whispers "I don't like where that's going--" but is surprised when Wrench runs over and hugs Kaden.

"Why are you hugging me?"

"He's a hugger-" Marcus shrugs.

"What I'm not allowed to hug my friends!" ? ? "Hey guess what?" his voice drops to a whisper "I'm really hitting it off with Naomi~ I think we might go on a date!"

"Ohhhh that's-- that's awesome!" Kaden forces a smile.

"Dude, that's great, make sure to update us!" Marcus whispers to Wrench.

Wrench's mask lights up ^ ^ "Will do! I gotta go!"

Kaden watched Wrench run back over to Naomi and Kaden turns on their heel to leave.

"Where are you going?" Marcus asks "We haven't even got anything yet"

"Suddenly I'm not that thirsty..."

"What!? You were bugging me for hours to come out here-- I-" Marcus looks at Kaden only to see them looking over to Wrench and Naomi. He looks between the flirtatious two and back to Kaden. "Oh damn. I had no idea-"

"Can we just leave please. Don't worry about it."

Kaden and Marcus end up leaving. Marcus said his goodbyes to Wrench and once they were outside Kaden turned to Marcus as they pointed at him. "Don't breathe a word of this to anyone. Especially him" Kaden nodded towards the coffee shop.

"But you know... if you were to say somethi--"

"NO. No.. I-I can't...It's complicated." Kaden says the next part under their breath "I'm not allowed to let this feeling grow...."

"You okay?" Marcus asked, clearly not hearing the last part.

"Hey lets go to the beach and watch the sunset?"

"You mean laugh at someone of the people who are already partying hard and are drunk?"

"Yes!"

"BEACH!?" Wrench exclaims as he jogs up to the two. "I wanna go!" ^ ^

Kaden sighs heavily. "Lets.......just go"

"You're different." > > "What's wrong"

Marcus injects "They uh, they just found out someone they liked a little more than a friend is already in the midst of seeing someone and they're having an off day that all."

Kaden looks over to Marcus clearly annoyed.

"AWEEEEE" / \ "Kadennnnnnnnnnn!" Wrench throws an arm over their shoulder and Kaden instantly tenses. "Don't worry, the feeling will pass, you'll find your someone! I know you will!" He gently pulled them a little closer so their side was pressed to his. "You're a very attractive person, mr or misses lucky could be closer than you think!"

Kaden could feel their throat getting dry and they hated the feeling. "You have no idea...." Kaden shook their head and pushed away from Wrench. "I think I'd like to be alone for awhile."

"NOPE!" Wrench exclaims happily. to which Kaden raises an eyebrow.

"Excuse me!?"

"mmhmm, I'm not leaving your side till I see that bright happy smile on your face and that chipper attitude back! You're sad it's my job to make you feel better." ^ ^

There was no shaking Wrench. Kaden just wondered how long they could pretend that they were already head over heels hopelessly in love with Wrench. No matter what they had to try and get rid of this feeling. It wasn't allowed. They weren't pushing these feeling away for nothing. They were here on a mission. to infiltrate the hacker group dedsec and feed information back to Blume. they weren't here for friendship and love. However, the more Kaden thought about it the more wrong it seemed... but they had no choice. Maybe one day Kaden could be free to chose who to love but it just wasn't in the cards right now. They were determined to fight it.

Ah~ I just had the loveliest vegetarian dinner! This French cafe I went to had the best pizza I have had in a long while. Now I do love California Pizza Kitchen’s Mushroom Truffle Pizza, I did enjoy this Pesto Mushroom Truffle Pizza that was topped with fresh arugula and Parmesan cheese and truffle shavings. I was having craving pesto and mushrooms and this was the perfect way to satisfy said craving in the most amazing and healthy way possible.

Best thing of all is this cafe only serves products that are from cruelty free sources (Be kind to animals, please!!!) and all free of pesticides and chemicals. Their coffee was incredible too, though I did make sure to ask for Oat Milk creamer and absolutely no sugar. Cannot have sugar after the consumption of these mini cakes at tea time earlier.

While I have been in a strict diet post surgery this was definitely fitting for that diet. Even with the diet I am being sure to exercise accordingly and constantly applying scar gel to the scar to prevent further stretching and stress to the healing spot.

I must say, this petite French cafe was quite the pleasant experience! Perfectly timed visit after all the Fontaine leaks and the trailer!

Mini-review:

Oh, I loved this! I must admit I never got around to reading the book, but after watching the movie (I've heard it's a very loyal adaptation), one can easily tell why it's widely regarded as a classic. It portrays puberty in a really frank and straightforward way, but also with a lovable dose of warmth. As for the cast, Abby Ryder Fortson is an absolute star and she will have a brilliant future, there's no doubt about that. And the rest of the kids are also fantastic! It honestly surprised me how good they all were. And of course, with names like Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates in the cast, you already know the adult cast will deliver too. Their performances are as amazing as usual. Pitch perfect casting, for real. Last but not least, the period setting is beautifully recreated through the sets and the costumes. Anyway, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. is a lovely addition to the coming of age genre and will probably end up being considered a classic, just like the book.

Ominis Gaunt

Gossip buddies; with Ominis being blind, his senses are heighten, so he heres alot of gossip from people and sometimes Darin likes to her that stuff. Empathises with him over his family trauma and is sometimes his illegal therapist. Adores him very much.

Imelda Reyes

Absolutely cant stand her; hates her with all her being. Darin doesnt hate many peole cause its such a strong word but she cant even begin to discribe how much she wants the punch her in the face.

Gareth Weasley

Absolutely loves him; he’s so funny to her. She would commit multiple crimes for him to be happy. Has been a test subject to his potions and has helped with them. Thinks he diserves the moon, but all she could get him was an ashwinders egg.

Nellie Oggspire

Adventure buddies who? Her and Nellie arent to close but when they are together, its because their either on the courtyards roof or simply telling stories to each other. Darin finds nellie to be a very interesting person and enjoys her company.

Cressida Blume

Finds her somewhat annoying: doesnt like how she talks so nastily about people and expectes she'll be fine. Her charms work is interesting... but Darin doesnt find it amusing; kinda lazy.

Samantha Dale

Plant parents! They both will bring their plants outside for little meet ups; like those moms that site at the park as their kids run mahem. Samantha and Darin will mainly just talk about classes and the books for said classes.

Amit Thakkar

Wholesome boy; must protect wholesome boy. she enjoys that he is teaching her about astronomy and the constolations. once she finished the constolation boards, she went straight to him about them. they do knowledge exchanges; astronomy for Beast keeping.

Everett Clopton

Cant really say she dislikes him, but doesnt like his pranks. Connects with him on the whole Imelda thing; shared hatred of her. Tries to stop him from using those stink bombs but has failled; several times. Everett is fine to be around, but Darin wont be around him voluntarily.

Lenora Everleigh

Loves being around her; she's alot of fun to be around and Darin enjoys the riddles and puzzles she does. they go around the castle searching for the moths together. they're study partners.

Aurthur Plummly

Has shown him some animals like mooncalf's and nifflers; is also trying to help with the 'convincing my mother to get me a pet' plan. Bonus piece is that her owl will just sit on him.

Adelaide Oakes

her sister from another mister; wants to help her in everyway she can with her uncle. Finds her adorable and the most precious person in hogwarts(other then deek). Beat the crap out of the goblins that kidnapped her uncle
