It seems to be pretty well established that most fanfic authors don’t mind when readers leave comments on old fics and in fact welcome it. But what about authors replying to old comments?

Do readers care in general whether an author replies? Is it expected and seen as rude if they don’t? Is it nice when they do but not expected? Is there a time limit to the welcomeness of replies? Like is it nice if they respond within a few weeks but if it’s been months or years it feels awkward because you don’t remember the fic anymore? I’m curious!

okay this fic was prompted by the lack of ace fic for cobra kai on ao3, and the fact that at the time i created the wip there were NO fics where samantha larusso is ace despite it being abundantly clear that this lady is not attracted to men, she is performing femininity in an attempt to fit in and miguel is a very safe person to do that with. it's samtory because feminism and they are crazy obsessed with each other. here are the two paragraphs of thoughts that i sent gregory when first conceiving the idea:

"i just think that the whole slut/prude thing and how aware she is of everyone's expectations of her would intersect with the whole ace thing in a really interesting way. like. she knows that as a teen girl there's this unspoken thing where she's supposed to want sex but she can't let anyone know she wants sex but she's supposed to find boys hot and she doesn't and the thought of having sex with anyone makes her want to throw up but it's too late for her to be a late bloomer and then she discovers that she likes tory so maybe she's a lesbian but she doesn't want to have sex with her either and now she's failed to be the perfect expected teen girl Twice because she likes other girls but she doesn't like them enough to want to have sex like every other person in the world

"and then of course the whole thing about intense bloody rivalries is that they're homoerotic right. it's not homoromantic it's about the passion and fire and how fighting and sex can be two sides of the same coin in that regard so does tory even like her for anything more than that passion? if she can't give tory more than a few heated makeout sessions then will tory want to stay?"

anyway. ace!sam 2025!!!! let's go!!!! it's just little scenes right now but idk hopefully for ace awareness week this year i'll get it done since i've been working on it since 2022

We move onto the next era with Attack #3, which just so happens to involve Tsukiko! Surprisingly, she was the big Art Fight winner, something I'm very happy about since she's my second-favorite character from Rejuvenation's cast.

Anyways, this magnificent piece is by @mewmewchann, who I had to attack due to my love for their fangan Hope's Chains. when people act like colin would just accept someone he's dating being mean to penelope it's just like. that's not true. he decided to eternally have beef with cressida bc she was mean to penelope one time in his presence. he hears portia being mean to penelope and immediately tells her off so thoroughly it changes the course of the entire featherington family. and u want me to believe he would be chill with someone he's dating being mean to her? be so serious.

So finally I can talk more CR stuff after my self enforced pre-119 embargo has been lifted

But it's in a good way, mostly. But only because I have fretted myself for 2 weeks - 2 fair and acceptable weeks because people are the priority when it comes to the fires - only for the expected to be 'final showdown' to have a phase two that continues into next episode (wherein Ludinus could still appear to make things worse), meaning that I'm gonna fret myself into more exhaustion for at least another week and continue my accelerating descent into sleep-deprived madness. Other than that, I am happy with what we were given this episode.

What felt like a mountain to climb after 118 caused such deflation in the fandom has slowly turned a corner thanks to Bell's Hells', well the ones who have known each other longer than a week, will to protect one another; to save Imogen and Imogen's will to get back to her friends. Now Imogen - God Eater Imogen might we add - is free, Predathos is diminished further of power, the Hells are temporarily powered up via boons, and finally, FINALLY, we have an Option C for the god stuff: mortality, similar to how they did on Downfall. A chance for the gods to humble themselves which in a way can gauge their understanding better of what the world and its inhabitants need, to stand alongside their children as family that can be empathised with, rather than denizens living above and away that cannot be understood. Granted it won't be perfect, but no option was perfect - even the Divine Gate has proven not to be perfect - and at least this one is better than death or departure, and it will indeed be up to them to make that choice.

There is still the matter of Predathos and maybe/likely Ludinus of course, as well as trying to convince the gods of this alternative, so everything is far from over, but there is a bit more hope now and I am equally frightened and excited to see the next episode - more than I was for 118 and 119 - and its outcome.
