trying to tide everyone over since ive been having a hard time chipping away at more characters with some lore dump, yaay !

transformations are actually really painful depending on the certain body modifications that happen, usually involving the alteration of limb. going from plantigrade to digitigrade is not fun because thats an entire bone restructure buddy!! if i had to rank transformations based on how badly they would suck with the current designs, naoto is definitely the worst with having to manifest an entirely new set of arms lmao

Persona 3 and Persona 4 are funny to sort timelines for because there is a one(1) year gap between the games. Now if you push p4 back by one year and put Minato in Inaba-

Nyx gets chased off and not even a year later Izanami goes "its free real estate" lol

So Minato lives for unspecified reasons and (reluctantly) moves back to Inaba after the events of P3. He takes Koromaru with him (you can pry them as a duo from my cold dead hands) and attends Yasogami for his final year of high school. Which sucks because a. all his friends are at Gekkoukan and b. Yasogami is a terrible school and Inaba is a small town. He's losing his mind out here gang

Anyway then the midnight channel shows up and it hasn't even been a year since the dark hour vanished so you can imagine how upset he is about this. But he's way too nice so of course when he finds out a group of underclassmen have taken it upon themselves to fight shadows and solve the murder case he and Koromaru end up involved.

Dynamics with the investigation team include:

Yu Narukami - consistently on the same bullshit wavelength and nobody knows how (its the Wild Card Wavelength)

Yosuke Hanamura - punches him at least once for the internalized homophobia but they bond over music

Teddie - he reminds him of Aigis a bit. Trying to teach him to be Better then what he learns from Yosuke

Chie Satonaka - she reminds him of Yukari and its terrifying

Yukiko Amagi - you never fuck with the healers (also a bit scared of her)

Kanji Tatsumi - thinks hes cool. likes his dolls. would also like him to leave Koromaru alone

Rise Kujikawa - MUSIC BUDDIES!! Rise makes fun of him but she gets away with it (he is nothing if not respectful of the navigators who can make or break a fight)

Naoto Shirogane - siblings. arisato/shirogane family au my beloved

I worked out the thieves! And the palace order!

The first two remain the same. Kamoshida and Madarame happen pretty much as it does originally, but around school there's talk of those "really smart third years" or something

Palace three is where things change. In game, it's Kaneshiro. Here? It's Okumura. He lives! But he mentions seeing the "Black Masks" and feeling threatened, fearing for his life at the time. Anyways this means Haru is the fifth party member instead of Makoto

Futaba's remains the same, but then in place of Okumura, theres a palace for Hifumi's mother. Togo palace! I'm working it out but yeah Hifumi joins after Futaba

This is where things change a lot more. The next palace would be Saw normally, but that's not happening when she's a defense attorney. The investigator here? Zenkichi Hasegawa. He's the one interviewing the Wild Cards the whole time. He's been hunting down the duo responsible for everything, and at one point, he gets a little, less legal with his investigations

He goes after Makoto and Goro. He presses Sae for info, why the went back to Shujin if they've already graduated, isn't the timing funny? You wouldn't want your job put at risk should this come out, right? Naoto goes to "set things straight" with him after, and he lays off. But, the twins are concerned. They don't want their family to suffer or lose their jobs protecting them from something they didn't do

So? They finally contact the thieves. After explaining what they are and that they aren't killing people, they ask for help. They want Hasegawa's heart stolen, and they haven't done one themselves. Changes of heart in mementos? Old news. But Palace stuff? They don't want to mess up. So, they make a deal with the Thieves to get this done in exchange for helping clear their name through Kirijo's network

Then it's Shido and then the YaBoi stuff. But, after that, in the third semester? Instead of the Maruki deal there's another new spot in Mementos. Beneath the Holy Grail. The thieves and Ops enter a train car, go down a tunnel, and at the other end? The levels start going up.

Cause they have to fight Nyx again the seal was broken by Yalbasshole when he swiped Minato and Minako to be his pieces in the game with Igor (Igor's wildcards are Akira and Ren)

So there's that! Akira would be transfem, and Ren would have a slow burn romance with Goro that comes to a head on Christmas, whereas Makoto and Haru move a little faster, getting together in Hawaii.

Also, I've made up my mind. The Shadow Ops as a whole have been raising Koromaru's puppies for a bit, to see if any would have the potential. The two boys of the litter end up assigned to assist with the special task the twins have, so. Yeah they got doggies

Hoshi and Kumo, with their personas Balto and Laika. Helps add to the family environment in the Shirogane house. Hoshi and Kumo don't join them when they search for targets in Mementos, but have helped Makoto and Goro track the movements of the Phantom Thieves, and with general exploration

(it's. Because they can't fit on Johanna too. Only room for Makoto and Goro)

But here's some stuff on Naoto and Rise since I haven't said much on them

Naoto is only a part time Shadow OP. He works as a detective on retainer for the Tokyo police most of the time, but takes private cases, mostly from Kirijo directly, now and then. He sometimes travels for work, and makes sure that if he can't bring his family, that he brings home gifts for them all

This is a trans man Naoto. Cause I'm weak. QueerHet NaoRise my beloved.

Now, Rise has retired as an idol years ago. She's a vocal instructor at a music and dance studio focused on youth, and she uses some of her idol money to help pay for students who need help paying for classes or music gear. She hasn't been involved in persona business since Inaba all those years ago. She was given the offer, but she didn't take it. Using Himiko that much back then really tired her out, made her feel like a zombie sometimes. She'd help in an emergency, but she's done enough in her mind

They were looking to adopt when they got the news of the Niijima's passing. It felt like the universe was giving them a sign, to Rise. Naoto wouldn't use those words, but same feeling. Having a teen and two infants was tough, but for them? Rewarding as fuck. Rise sobbed when one of the twins first babbled a "Mama" in her direction, and cried so hard watching Naoto melt at being called "Papa"

Rise would sing to them to get them to sleep. During storms, the whole family would get under a fort in the living room with cushions and blankets, Rise singing and Naoto humming as they watch their youngest, Makoto, gradually stop shaking, her iron grip on her brother and big sis slackening

This reminds me of a persona 5 au I have that has wildcard Makoto, Futaba being the one with record featuring crimes she didn't commit, the P5 protag (who will henceforth be referred to as Akiren) being the son of Adachi and the cousin of the P3 protag (referred to as Minato to try and avoid confusion).

Okay, so, pre P3 canon, Akiren gets into an online game and uses an account called Arsene (rip the use of Arsene as a persona but at least you're still at least semi important to Akiren), which leads to him befriending ankther user who turns out to be Futaba. There's also a fair amount of pleading from Akiren to his parents to either allow him to stay with Minato or allow Minato to stay with them. Said wish gets granted when Minato moves back to Port Island at the start of P3, and Akiren's mother decides it's safe enough to send Akiren with Minato. Neither turn into coffins for the dark hour and make it to the Iwatodai Dorms just fine with the only hiccup being a slight scare of Minato thinking Akiren ran off somewhere on the walk there. Minato unlocks Orpheus the same he does in canon while Akiren unlocks Eurydice as a persona without the use of an Evoker around the time of Junpei gets found during the dark hour by Akihiko. Akiren gets saved from most of P3's plot via Minato agreeing to lead the team only if they don't drag Akiren into fighting shadows. This means he only has to deal with the dorm stuff and can graduate junior high school in peace. The end of P3 happens, and then Akiren moves in with Adachi in Inaba. Makoto starts her first year at Shujin Academy and Akiren should be starting first year at Yasogami, but Minato just became the Great Seal, so sue Akiren for not really wanting to go to high school. Adachi doesn't push Akiren to go to Yasogami, but he is worried about his kid. Akiren doesn't help Adachi but he doesn't rat Adachi out when he figures out Adachi's actions before the IT do (Akiren lives with Adachi so figured out probably around the time of Shirogane's dungeon), partly because despite Adachi's actions, Akiren still looks up to him. Akiren has a persona and can access the TV world which only happened once the night of Dec 7th when Yu is confronting Adachi personally, leading to Yu ending up gettting Akiren out of the TV world. Akiren's mother decides to call in a favour from Sojiro for him to look after Akiren after Adachi gets caught. Not helping Akiren's experience of the stuff happening with Adachi in P4, Eurydice goes dormant. Basically, the whole bugging of Leblanc and a lot of stuff surrounding canon Futaba still happens just replacing canon Futaba with Akiren in this au. Makoto's second year starts, Futaba joins her in the occupation of active high school attendant while being somewhere else in Japan that isn't Tokyo and Akiren isn't having a good time. Plot of p5 happens and cut to the Akiren's Palace arc. Arsene requests a change of heart directly to Futaba who has already been informed of who Arsene is(yes this is my way of dealing with Akiren's lack of hacking skills), probing for details and palace infiltration ensues. All I know for certain for Akiren's palace is that it's absolutely going to include stuff from the Dark Hour and Adachi's dungeon. Cue rest of the plot that I haven't actually figured out and wouldn't have enough characters even if I did.

also i keep finding fics where the p5 protag is from either iwatodai or inaba but i keep imagining it would be hilariously fucked up if he lives in both places while shadow shit was going down

Half demon blueberry sibs

If it’s just like they’re half-demons, then they’re definitely half-kitsune. 

They usually keep their ears and tails hidden, but after the rest of SEES learns the truth they show them when fighting in Tartarus. 

SEES is a little shocked at first but they also have a robot on their team so not necessarilly the weirdest thing they’ve ever seen.

They’ll go on walks in fox form with Koromaru and chat with him at the shrine before he officially joins SEES

While investigating the TV World Naoto actually trades places with the Shrine Fox a couple of times to get a feel for the Investigation and see if they can be trusted.

The IT find out Naoto is already faniliar with Personas, works with a secret government agency to deal with Shadow threats, AND is a Kitsune all the same time so they have a lot to process, but eventually they get used to it.

Plus Naoto becomes the official team haggler when it comes to buying from the Shrine Fox.

Yusuke is undercover as one of Madarame’s pupils to find out his connection to the Conspiracy, when he meets the PT

He follows them in to Madarame’s palace, but the PT just assume that his tail and ears showing up when Yusuke summons his Persona is him getting his thief outfit upon awakening.

Yusuke whips up his normal costume as a disguise, though he can’t help it if sometimes his tail wags a little and hopes no one will question it. They don’t.

Yusuke tells the others he’s a Kitsune at the same time he admits to being part of the Shadow Operatives, I’m just not sure when that is yet.

Now if it’s a specifically Mamagawa is a Monster Fucker thing, then they each half a different demon

Technically I’m tempted to say Minato’s just a normal human in this version of the AU because like, he’s already Jesus

But if he were half-demon I’d make him half siren becuase music + Orpheus.

I’d actually imagine Yusuke staying as a Kitsune but for the sake of not being repetitive he’s half Yuki-Onna

Naoto’s half succubus becuase I want Naoto to have WINGS damn it and I’m tired and can’t think of something else

And exploring Minato with amnesia, relearning the lessons he took from P3 and applying them with his new friends in the Shepherds, is really fun actually.

I dont. Have plans to explore every social link actually. I do NOT have enough patience for that. But I *am* writing out the social links for the Shepherds as a whole (the Fool), Lucina (the Hanged Man), and Emmeryn (the Star). Possibly Chrom as well im not sure

Awakening is my second favourite fire emblem game and persona 3 is my all time favourite persona game. i mash them together and get a wonderful mess to clean up

"I think these are for you, Shirogane-san..." Minato muttered as he gently placed a shitton of Valentine's chocolates in her hands. "They're all addressed to you, that is... Ahh... I just transferred here and barely spend any time actually in classes because my sister and I have to work all day... The few times I'm here, they mistake me for you." -- (( Minato ))

She sweatdropped and muttered how it was dumb of her to not expect a huge rush of fanpeople gifts, especially if you considered that the day dedicated to foolish relationship matters was close. She’d already gotten her fair share of confession letters attempts to try get her attention so the 14th of February was going to be… Interesting to her. “Uh… Yeah, the name label on that one says ‘Shirogane-san’. Apparently we look that similar, and people dismiss on how the height difference isn’t a signal on how they got the wrong guy. Uh... I hope that you weren’t too disturbed by those idiots: it must’ve been awkward for you to deal with.”

Minato was 7 when he first got to know death. He’d crawled out of their toppled over car, broken glass cutting the skin of his palms, his forehead bleeding. A bright light blinded him when he got out and the next he knew was the scent of the emergency room. He was being patched up and his father had died. He heard them tell his sobbing mother that his dad’s neck snapped when the car was flipped and that it was a miracle the boy was even alive.

That day he and his mother sobbed together as they held each other in their arms.

A week later was the burial.

His mother carried his youngest brother, just a 3-month old baby, in her left arm. Minato stared at little Yusuke who looked at the sight with confusion, lamenting that he would not know the greatness of their late father first-hand. Kou, his 5-year old younger brother, wailed, mom’s grip on his hand firm.

Mama had too little hands to hold everyone, that’s why Minato held his only sister’s hand. Naoto was only a year younger than Kou, her hand was tiny in his. She also cried, shaking as she sniffled behind her free hand.

Only Minato and his mom didn’t. Mama was too tired to cry. She’d been up late every night since, crying alone and falling asleep like that only to wake up early to care for them the next day. He would often sneak into bed with her, comforting her with pats like she did to them when they were sad. Minato, on the other hand, had decides that he needed to be strong. He had to grow up quicker so he could protect his family. Crying would be a sign of weakness. Being weak would make Mama worry. He didn’t want to make Mama worry.

A month later, Mama had gathered them all in the living room. She looked as distraught as she was when Papa died. Minato knew that whatever it was killed her inside.

And it killed him too.

She told them that she couldn’t take care of them anymore, that they’d have to go to the orphanage. The money she was making was not enough to sustain them all.

Minato wanted scream, but he didn’t. Instead, he held Kou and Naoto who cried in his stead. If this was the only way to alleviate Mama’s burden, so be it. Mama would kee Yusuke however, he was still only a baby after all.

Mama packed for Naoto and Kou while he packed for himself. She then dressed them all up, taking her time. Her hands stroked Naoto’s long, soft hair as she brushed it; her fingers straightened Kou’s clothes more than they need to be; and, her hold on Minato’s arms lingered on his shoulders before they left. When they finally got there, she hugged each of them close for what felt like an eternity. She didn’t want to let go, but she had to.

She promised them that once everything had blown over, and that when she can finally afford to, she’ll see them again.

Minato held each sibling in his hand, watching as their mother left them behind. That night, Minato cried in the bathroom where no one could see him.

The orphanage was a mess of children being loud. Minato didn’t like it, neither did his siblings. The three of them mostly kept to themselves in the living room. Occasionally, two laughing silver-haired kids and an angry brown-haired one would run in and then straight back out as they played. They would interact at times. Well, mostly it was one of the silver-haired kids, a girl named Miki.

She asked them if they wanted to play, to which the silver-haired boy – Akihiko – mildly complained but otherwise didn’t protest and the brown-haired kid shrugged. Sometimes they would, especially Kou and Naoto. Minato, on the other hand, chose to look over his siblings more often than not. He had to make sure they wouldn’t get hurt. Moreover, he had to make sure no one would hurt them.

It was his personal promise to Mama.

Naoto was the first to leave them.

A couple had come by one day, saying that they were looking to adopt because the woman didn’t want to give birth. They spotted Naoto while they were all watching an episode of Spoopy-Doo and immediately fell in love with her. They claimed she was perfect as they cooed over her soft hair, her soft skin, her long lashes that brushed her cheels, her round eyes that shone with the brightness of the stars, and the intensity with which she focused on the show.

Minato remembered brushing her hair every morning and night like their mother used to; he remembered tending to any wounds she might get from playing like their mother used to; he remembered the glint in her eyes whenever he told her a bedtime story like their mother used; and he remembered staying up all night to protect her from monsters under her bed like their mother used to. He told the couple all of this, struggling to keep his voice even as he bit back tears. They listened intently, making note of what he had said.

He knew she would be okay under their care.

That was the day Naoto Kitagawa turned into Naoto Shirogane.

The next was Kou.

They had been outside, playing catch together on a Sunday afternoon when another couple came by. This time, they feared that they could not rear a child amd worried over the lack of a possible heir for the family.

Kou had greeted them upon their arrival, like he always did because Kou was a good boy. He flashed them his signature bright smile and bowed cheerily at them. Just like that, they fell in love. His charm, his kindness, his social nature would lead their family when time came.

Minato remembered times when he had gotten angry and Kou was there to calm him down; he remembered Kou dragging him outside to play with others because he wanted his older brother to have friends; he remembered Kou trying to emulate him when he was the only one around to save Naoto from bullies. Once again, he told the couple this.

As he asked the couple to take care of him, he knew that Kou would be loved either way.

That was the day Kou Kitagawa turned into Kou Ichijo.

Their trio was down to one.

Minato didn’t expect to be adopted himself. He simply clung on to their mother’s promise to return as if it were his life support. He couldn’t wait to tell her about his siblings’ new families and to visit them together so that they could be complete again.

But Mama never came.

3 years passed, but Minato never lost hope. Mama had promised she would return, so he believed she would. He didn’t grow to resent her for all the time he spent waiting, but there had been a few close calls. Several couples had almost adopted him but thankfully changed their minds. From then on, he tried to make himself as invisible as possible. Hanging back, never speaking, in order to avoid getting chosen. Mama could be back any day.

On his 10th birthday, someone he recognized came by. It was his aunt, she looked like the weight of the world was on her shoulders and she told him why.

Mama had become sickly after leaving them and, three years after, she had died of a seizure.

Minato’s heart broke with her promise to return. For the first time in years, he had cried a river.

The burial was strange.

Minato felt dead inside like his mother must have felt when his father had died. He watched with lifeless eyes as she was lowered, tired. Across him was Yusuke in the arms of a familiar man. He was so much bigger now and he at least seemed healthy. That was good. He wanted his siblings to be well.

The man, Minato recalled, came by a lot when he was younger. He often painted pretty pictures with Mama or simply told her what to do. He didn’t like the old man for some reason, he never has, but if it meant Yusuke would be cared for then he was fine with it.

After the ceremony, Minato approached little Yusuke who had been set down by the man. He took his youngest brother in his arms and cried.

Yusuke didn’t know what was going on or who Minato was, but he too cried. He cried because Mama was gone, he cried because he would miss her.

The man soon came back to collect him and Minato watched as the last of his family got taken away from him, leaving him alone.

His aunt adopted him that day. It was better than staying in an orphange filled with children competing for attention.

Minato nodded, he didn’t have a choice.

That was the day Minato Kitagawa became Minato Arisato.

5 months later, the orphanage caught fire.
