needless to say, the number of such audacious attempts dwindled significantly. what exactly he did to deter them remains a mystery known only to him and his would-be victims.

still, worried that the possibility of a recurrence and his absence to intervene, he took it upon himself to practically implore—some might even say beg—you to join the student council. this would ensure that he, or even akane if needed, could keep a watchful eye over you with greater ease.

however, true to your nature, you steadfastly rebuffed each futile attempt to persuade you. despite his persistent efforts, you remained resolute in your refusal.

eventually, your golden boy relented, recognizing that his endeavors were in vain…but that was just because he found an alternative solution.

he encouraged—forced—akane to be the one to look after you discreetly whenever he couldn’t. only choosing to partially reveal his intentions to avoid alarming you at the time, as you were unfamiliar with akane’s existence.

or so it had been until he observed that you and the school’s vice president shared a rather unique bond.

although akane would occasionally scold you for being so excessively somnolent, mistaking it for you being irresponsible, hence, occasionally comparing you to the greatness of his lady aoi—teru—ever vigilant and mindful of akane’s every interaction with you, ensured that his usual brutal tendencies were significantly tempered. still—it remained a part of the deputy’s essence, defining his very being, just albeit subdued in your presence.

it could be surmised that akane once attempted to tease—or rather, foolishly inquire, about teru’s subtle yet perceptible shifts in behavior whenever you were involved.

“it’s almost as if you like them.”

in an almost immediate reaction—the president paused, slowly turning his head to gaze at akane, a shadow casting a smile that concealed the upper portion of his closed eyes.

the ginger-haired vice executive, feeling an ominous presence despite the absence of visible eyes, found himself sweating profusely as he cautiously added,

“—to the point where anyone could mistake you for family!"

sensing the gravity of his words, akane mentally vowed to never broach the subject again. he restrained himself from ever mentioning it whenever he witnessed the two of you together.

curiosity gnawed at you as you noticed his all-knowing gaze transform into one of horror whenever you turned your head, as if peering behind you; at none other than the pretty blonde himself, who seemed to be doing nothing wrong, merely proven to have been innocently smiling the whole time, or so he put up whenever you looked back at him.

oblivious to the truth, you always dismissed it as ‘akane’s peculiar moments of ptsd flashbacks’ whenever he saw teru.

however, let me share a little secret with you.

did you know the true reason behind teru’s death stare? no? well, do you wanna know?

then do allow me to spill it for you.

it was simply because akane, using the keyword; "like," insinuated that teru had a ‘liking-only level’ romantic feeling for you. the misconception provoked such a reaction from teru, for he wanted to correct that statement because he loved you, not just liked you.

In the au’s where they are all humans/alive, Akane pronounces Tsukasa as ‘sue-kuh-suh’ instead of ‘sue-kah-sah’. At first it was an accident, he was just calling out the participants names for one school activity. Him and Teru wrote down the names and they accidentally wrote down ‘Tsukusa’, they forgot one ‘A’.

So he said Yugi Tsukusa. Tsukasa corrected him, but the second time they bumped into each other he said Tsukusa again.

Teru says it too, just on purpose.

Of course, her real laugh (which probably only Nene, Akane, and maybe Teru know about) is much more snorty and pitchy and desperate <3 also a little nasally, or sounds like she’s talking with a stuffy nose and it’s adorable in a goofy way

She will also name-call the flip out of anyone who tks her (not that she hates it that’s just how she is)

Will probably not tickle people very often, but thinks it’s fun to watch people squirm and scream for mercy, so calm but completely evil

Her fav lee is Nene bc she thinks her reactions are funny (used to be Akane but It’s Complicated)

Nene

Turns into a completely evil gremlin when given the opportunity to tk someone. She may be a sweet-looking girl but she is merciless and surprisingly mighty (let Nene be a punk and beat people up agenda!!!)

Squeals and kicks and turns completely red when tk-ed or tk is mentioned; embarrassingly enough, her ankles are most ticklish

Poor thing will make up excuses not to tickle her like “My laugh is too loud!” and “My face isn’t cute!” and people will want to tickle her more to prove her wrong (please let my girl be happy)

People see her and just want to tickle her. And they will. She can’t escape. It’s the main character effect

Sakura (MY PRETTIEST GIRL EVER!!!!!)

Definitely not much of a ler, but when she is she approaches it with such scientific intensity that it’s actually scary

She’s very sweet and very gentle, honestly, but it’s entirely offset by how terrifying and mysterious she is

Ticklish but exceptional at hiding her reactions from dealing with Tsukasa. If you remind her that she can laugh, you may be able to get a few giggles out of her, unless you’re Natsuhiko

Sensitive in very unusual places, so nobody knows about it

Kou

He’s super bony and all of them are ticklish

Embarrassed because he feels like being tickled weakens his coolness factor (will literally cave instantly if any of his friends ask him to tk him)

Likes to tickle people to cheer them up, always very playful, will also do the tk while acting tough if someone is being bratty (usually Hanako or Mitsuba)

Nene tks him because!!! He's her sweet underclassman!! (more content for them please)

TW: Mentions of neglect

So for Nene I like to imagine her parents are good but not perfect yk?? Like they’re nice people who are very loving towards her but they’re not very involved in her life. She’s closer with her mom, who makes more of an effort to get to know her. A lot of fans like to hc her parents as being really awful and I don’t have a problem with that but I personally don’t see it (it can be interesting to read tho). It’s also important to keep in mind common tropes when pulling the “her parents never show up” card. It’s insanely common in media focused around teens for the parents to be absent, that’s a way for writers to depict the newfound senses of freedom and independence kids feel at that age. It doesn’t always mean the parents are neglectful, though you can most certainly headcanon them that way if you want to.

When I’m making headcanons based on characters’ home lives I tend to analyze their behavior and see where it might stem from. Nene is a very friendly girl with lots of love to give but she is a lot of insecurities, which leads me to believe she has kind parents but not ones that reaffirm her self-esteem. They probably aren’t the type to call their daughter beautiful every day, but I could see them still being nice to her. Their family probably isn’t overly close tho, they might not go out and do things. But again these are all my personal headcanons, others might interpret it differently. Sometimes I make her parents get divorced so Mama Yashiro can get a wife and Nene and Mitsuba can be siblings. That might be the best fic trope this fandom has created I fear (aside from Akane patching up Teru’s wounds)

Akane is the one I dump more trauma on lol. I feel like his parents are neglectful which leads to him going out of his way to be attentive towards others. He’s subconsciously trying to find someone who will give him the love he’s been missing out on. He also wants to make sure that no one else feels isolated/ignored, that they don’t have to worry about their basic needs not being cared for. He makes himself reliable and tends to be very independent outside of his emotional dependency on Aoi (which ties back to his search for love). The Minamotos also act that way with the independence/need to be relied on, and we know their father isn’t home much. I also like to hc that his parents act like the two different sides of his personality. His mom is very doting and affectionate, but in a shallow way. Then his father acts more apathetic, like Akane if he didn’t have a perpetual chip on his shoulder. And I don’t think he’s realized their neglect is a problem yet

🚀 ; I'd like to think he's also a flip! But since I think he'd be a little bit on the little side, there may be a few Headcanons of him as a Regressor than a caregiver (only by 2-3)

⚠️ ; slight angst (feeling the need to be mature and/or perfect for the sake of family and peers), Regressing due to stress and anxiety, exorcising (mentioning a few times) + some stuff may not be canon as I'm not too far into the manga myself. Such as his relationship with hanako-kun. (Which i headcanon them as friends just because)

🐈 ; he regresses quite often than not. Mainly due to his family pressuring him about his exorcist 'job' he does. Growing up quickly to pursue his families plan to be the top, and best exorcists known to man.

🐈 ; as the oldest he always was more the father figure of Kou, than a big brother to him. He doesn't mind really. But he still wishes he remembered more of his childhood outside of being the babysitter for his absent parents

🐈 ; his little age is 1-4. Sometimes he could be 6-8 if he's not too deep into his regression state.

Tiara thinks from all the talks on how beautiful and gorgeous you are to make her older brother so deeply in love, like head over heels maybe, that he misses you every second you aren't with him or near him. Once kou had brought you over to introduce to his siblings, tiara was all over how pretty you were and ever might ask you to make her as pretty you are! Kou would be shock that its you! He has seen you but never a thought about who you were, he accepts you quick with tiara too for making their older brother so deeply in love for someone to care, enjoy and share memories with them! <3

How I think TBHK characters would say “I’m sorry”.

Nene - Says it straight up and then probably tried to make them feel better with a gift, or quality time.

Hanako/Amane - An act of service. Probably would mumble an apology while giving you food or snacks I guess. Definitely not quality time or affection because he just doesn’t know how to do that after getting mad at someone.

Kou - Also says sorry straight up, or also does an act of service/quality time and then says sorry for what he did.

Aoi - Quality time, gift giving. Maybe never says sorry but by her actions you can tell she is sorry.

Sakura - Gives you a gift or just a little something she knows you would like while saying sorry.

Tsukasa - Quality time, gift giving, affection, acts of service and all of the above while saying he’s sorry.

Natsuhiko - Straight up says sorry but in a really awkward way, although he means it. Probably offers to hang out with you too.

Mitsuba - Quality time. It probably takes some time to realize he’s sorry for his actions because he doesn’t really say sorry because his social cues are not good, but you can tell.

Teru - Says he’s sorry by turning around the hurtful words he said. Like if he said he thinks you’re useless or something, he’d then tell you the things you’re good at ( Yes I based that off of that firework chapter ).

Akane - Affirmation, probably gives you a light hug after.

Shijimei - Gives you something you’d like, and probably does a deed for you. Shows up with a cute drawing and favorite candies to school then helps you with your math homework ( Does it if she’s extremely guilty ). Something like that.

Mei - Says she’s sorry, gives hugs, then spends time with you.

Sumire - Hugs. Maybe musters an apology, let’s go, and you guys are cool.

Yeah but that’s it. I literally just did this because I made up this scenario in my head where Amane wants to say sorry to Tsukasa after having a fight with him. Tsukasa’s in his room working on homework, Amane’s down stairs. Tsukasa thinks Amane is just watching TV or something until Amane shows up with a whole bowl of noodles, mumbled a sorry then leaves the room.
