University professor Matthew Richter hates complications. Planning his every day down to the second leaves no opportunity for a social life, which he doesn’t feel the need for anyway. Jian Wei helps run his family’s business. The only thing he enjoys more than tormenting his parents and siblings with endless pranks is plotting his next trick on a certain uptight customer.

Though so different, chance inexplicably draws them both to a World War II photography exhibit, and the aging photographer Milton Glass. Milton shares the story of two soldiers brutally cut down on the battlefield—which has haunted him for the better part of his life—and his suspicions that the soldiers shared a bond they never fully realized.

Now, in the twilight of his life, Milton can’t help but wonder if Matthew and Jian share a potential bond of their own. Could they possibly be the same men from so long ago, returned for a second chance at being together?

RIBA reveals UK's best buildings for 2021

The Royal Institute of British Architects has announced 54 winners of the 2021 RIBA National Awards for architecture including a floating church, the MK gallery and a mosque in Cambridge.

Awarded annually since 1966, the RIBA National Awards celebrates the best buildings in the UK.

This year's 54 winning projects were chosen from the shortlist for the 2020 RIBA Regional, RIAS, RSUA, and RSAW Awards after last year's awards were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Ranging from radical, cutting-edge new designs to clever, creative restorations that breathe new life into historic buildings, these projects illustrate the enduring importance and impact of British architecture," said RIBA president Simon Alford.

Included on the list are numerous educational projects, including the Centre Building at LSE by Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners and the School of Science and Sport by OMA at Brighton College.

"There are a good number of well-designed school and university buildings that are powerful investments in the future, and I am sure they will inspire young people, their teachers and communities," said Alford.

"I am also thrilled to see many of these make creative use of existing structures. Well-designed education facilities should be the rule rather than the exception – every child deserves an effective learning environment, and these projects provide rich inspiration."

Alford also drew attention to the number of projects that adapt and extend existing buildings.

These included the extension to the MK Gallery in Milton Keynes by 6a Architects (pictured top) and Grimshaw's renovation of its former Herman Miller factory into a building for Bath Schools of Art and Design.

"When a new building is essential, we need to make sure it will last and serve the future well – so it needs to be flexible and reusable," he said. "Long life; loose fit; low energy architecture is the present and the future."

"It is therefore very encouraging to see restoration and sensitive adaptation feature so prominently this year; with many buildings acknowledging their history, the needs of the present and the potential of their dynamic future," he added.

The 54 national winners form the longlist for the Stirling Prize – the UK's most prestigious architecture award. The Stirling Prize shortlist will be announced next week with the winner revealed on 14 October.

Sinopse e detalhes Severino (Ronaldo Reis) encontra um estranho objeto em meio aos escombros de um avião, sem saber que se trata de uma das faces do Medalhão de Uzur. Ao colocá-lo no pescoço, o porteiro do Prédio Azul é influenciado pelo artefato e passa a se tornar cada vez mais malvado. Com a bruxa Duvíbora (Alexandra Richter) e sua filha Dunhoca (Klara Castanho) dispostas a roubá-lo, os jovens detetives Pippo (Pedro Henriques Motta), Sol (Letícia Braga) e Bento (Anderson Lima) não vêem outra saída a não ser viajar até a região de Ushuaia, na Patagônia argentina, para encontrar a metade do bem do medalhão. Para tanto, eles contam com a ajuda da feiticeira Berenice (Nicole Orsini), dos Inspetores de la Casa Naranja e ainda do mago Elergun (Lázaro Ramos), dono de uma fábrica de doce de leite repleta de segredos.

Amanda Rosalind Richter Tilly is three months old, and Sylvia is not sure she is ever going to sleep. “Humans require rest,” Michael said earlier, back when it wasn’t too late for them, and they were trying to lie down and snuggle with Amanda, but Sylvia’s pretty sure no one’s told Amanda that. When Amanda started crying, a thin wail, Sylvia took her for a walk. Movement helps. Well, sometimes movement helps. Sometimes it just makes things worse, and Sylvia keeps reminding herself that if she’s frustrated, how must Amanda feel, with all those feelings in her tiny little head that isn’t even fully hard yet? (It didn’t feel tiny when it was pressed against Sylvia’s kidneys, but it does now.) The thing is, Sylvia just wants to sleep. She's so tired all the time, and there are people she can give Amanda to-- Michael. Milton, who is after all Amanda's dad. Joann, who may never speak to her again after the time Tilly handed over an Amanda who didn't stop crying for three straight hours--but they're all mission critical, doing the kind of work that needs to be done if the Discovery is ever going to find her way back home. Sylvia's mission critical, at least, she was before Amanda was born. (Maybe it was a stupid decision. Her mother would tell her it was her stupidest decision yet, but then, just because Councillor Tilly raised her daughter with only the assistance of a small army of professionals doesn't mean she thinks everyone should. It was Sylvia's decision, she made it, and now the Discovery is home to () souls, one more than when the universe ripped around her. It's been two years.) In the end, she takes Amanda to the observation deck. Amanda likes the stars. She likes black alert better, but they can't produce that on command. There are seats, and Sylvia can sit down, wait to see if Amanda is lulled by unfamiliar galaxies. She can't go to sleep, because Amanda has developed a hatred for the baby wrap, and insists on being held arms only, and Sylvia has nightmares about dropping her.
