Finished Batman: The Knight.

Oh my god is this a good comic. It very much reminded me that Zdarsky and I are on very similar wavelengths in terms of what we look for in a story. This felt like, no joke, someone had picked my brain of what I expected to see and had envisioned existed during the events of Bruce's training quest, and presented it to me on a platter, divided between 9 separate masters, each chosen and elaborated out of various hints and suggestions over the years.

It wasn't perfect; some of these mentors and masters were in effect standing in as a summary of multiple known characters with these skillsets, while others altered and shifted earlier versions of this history to fit better. But it made for a coherent update, and cleaned up a lot of pre-Crisis and early post-Crisis conception of this period that no longer fitted together as neatly, and sorted out the timings, and made it make sense.

For instance, we know there are multiple single blow techniques, from various secret masters. Shiva knows most if not all of them, and we know of several different masters and traditions who have them (O-Sensei, Richard Dragon and Ben Turner: the Leopard Blow; Legless Master: the Whispering Hand; Master Kirigi: the Vibrating Palm Strike). Shiva also knows The Scapel, The Wind Through the Reeds, The Lion's Paw, Wave and Shore, and the Skullcrack.

But Bruce doesn't need to learn all of those in the course of this story. He needs to learn one, as a representation of that period of his education. And so Master Kirigi got pulled forward to be the representative of the set.

We got more Henri Ducard, and a Ducard that was back to his pre-Flashpoint version. We had Giovanni Zatara and Zatanna. We had Lucie as a stand in for Selina's teachers. We actually got two teachers in the realms of 'stupid shit Bruce has done to his brain': but in this case we got to offset Hugo Strange (who could not trick Bruce, and who must always fundamentally know who Bruce is even as nobody believes him) with Daniel Captio, who is allowed to train Bruce in weird mental techniques and stands in for everyone else (Professor Milo. Dr Hurt. Whoever convinced him to do the Thögal Ritual. Etc etc)

It was elegant. And I don't think it needed any more of Ra's and Talia in it than it had; indeed what we got was a tight compression of some Denny O'Neil and some Mike Barr Ra's story themes into the underlying fundamental origin of the relationship, but not a full discussion of all its features. There are so many more stories out there further elaborating on their many conflicts.

Also Zdarsky does love Tim so much and had fun with parallels and I laughed several times in issue 10 because apparently we were playing Like Father Like Son. Love some good family theming going on in Al Ghul conflict.

It's just been such a while since I had the experience of sitting down and reading a story that in many ways felt like something I had already believed, but had never seen spelled out, and knew that how I wanted it to go in my head contradicted some known comics beats. This smoothed those contradictions out and gave me how I had wanted to conceptualise all of this.

“Stuck in the classroom together”

Marimui short fic ☁️🌫️!! (Kimetsu gauken au)

Word count: 1047 (oh yeah this may be ooc for Muichiro here aaHhaahhsJS)

The two sat on their respective chairs in the empty classroom they both got locked in. Mari forgot about her stuff and Muichiro decided to accompany her, considering she might get distracted by something or someone. By some stupid luck, while the two were in the classroom, someone seemingly passed by and didn’t think of checking in the classroom before closing it and locking it.

Mari was trembling in fear while Muichiro appeared calm, comforting the anxious brunette.

“There, there…” Muichiro whispered to Mari in a soothing tone. This managed to calm Mari down a little, but she was still anxious nonetheless.

“This is just great! We’re stuck in this classroom and my phone is dead! I should’ve charged it while I had the chance to!” Mari curses herself, hugging her knees and hiding her face. Muichiro looks down at Mari with a sympathetic expression, shaking his head. Unfortunately for Muichiro, he left his bag with his older twin, which has his phone. The two were gonna be in this classroom for only a few minutes or less.

“This is just reminding me of those scary movies! Gah…!!” Mari hugged her knees tighter, tearing up. Muichiro pulls Mari into a hug, caressing her back in a way to comfort the green-eyed girl.

“No need to worry, Mari. The teacher who is on night duty will help us get out.” Muichiro reassured, kissing her forehead softly. Mari hummed in response. She peeks her head out a little, revealing her teary eyes and wiping it with the back of her hand, sniffling.

“I…Don’t know why I’m even crying… I shouldn’t be this scared but yet I am…” Mari muttered, hiccuping right after muttering those words.

“It’s normal to react like that, Mari. Don’t put yourself down.” The long-haired boy helps Mari wipe her tears off her face, then the brunette went back to hiding her face in her knees. He tries to think of anything to distract Mari from this. Then an idea popped up in his mind.

“Hey, Mari… Did you remember the one time me, you and nii-san were in your house for a sleepover?” Muichiro asked Mari, a small smile appearing on his face. Mari looks up to Muichiro, letting out a small ‘hm’ and blinking before answering.

“U-Uhh… Which one to be specific?” The green-eyed girl wipes her tears as she raises one of her eyebrows.

“When we were 10! Both you and I decided to try to make smores with the stove…” The mint-green eyed boy trailed off, finding himself feeling slightly embarrassed of what he’s about to say, but then giggled shortly after.

“..You and I forgot to turn the stove off and the house would’ve probably been in flames if it weren’t for nii-san turning it off…” He continued, before letting out another small giggle. Mari returned the giggle.

“Ah… right… He reprimanded us and pulled both of our ears. Haha…” Mari started to smile, making Muichiro’s smile widen.

“He was like ‘Do you both wanna burn the house down, you two?! I can’t believe you both forgot to turn off the stove just because my little pony was on TV!’ Pfft…” Mari quoted Yuichiro’s words, eventually the two laughed together, Mari seemingly forgetting about her anxiousness. This made Muichiro relieved. He loves Mari’s smile.

“Oh my god… Mui! Did you remember the time when we entered middle school and the three of us were new to this school?” Mari asked Muichiro with a grin. Muichiro’s eyes widened before nodding and giggling.

“Right! You got lost and caused a huge scene! Shinazugawa-sensei chased you down the halls after you bumped into him carrying a bunch of papers and it scattered around!” The two shared a good moment to laugh at any funny moments they remember.

And it was like that for a while…

“Milo and I were late to school, so I helped her sneak in and not get caught by Tomioka-sensei!”

“Nii-san nearly had a heart attack when we saw you wearing your Halloween costume!”

“Oh! Oh! My cousins and I accidentally brought way more eggs than necessary and nee-chan was really… disappointed…in us for that…”

Eventually, the two heard the door unlocking, making Mari remember that they were stuck in this classroom.

“Ah, right. Forgot about this…” Mari said before grasping Muichiro’s arm and hugging it tight as they watch the door slide open, revealing whoever unlocked the door and them stepping in.

“Mari…?! Tokito?!” Riko looks at the couple in shock as Mari did the same too. Muichiro only had his eyebrows widened.

“N-Nee-chan…!” Mari immediately stood up and rushed towards her older sister, bear hugging her tight.

“Nee-chan! Thank god you’re here!” Mari cried out, tightening her hug. Riko stood still for a moment before chuckling and returning the hug, gently patting her younger sister.

“..It was my time to do night-patrol and I heard voices here… I was wondering where you two were. I’m guessing you both got stuck here…” The blonde explained. Muichiro stood up and walked towards the Kaizumi sisters, putting his hand on Mari’s shoulder.

“Ah. That reminds me. Tokito, your brother was looking for you and Mari. He was worried something might’ve happened to you two.” Riko informed Muichiro, who nodded in response. Mari…seemed to have fallen asleep, hugging Riko. The two stared at the sleeping brunette before the bakery teacher giggled, holding Mari and picking her up.

“Looks like my baby sister is asleep now… I’d return her back to home but I’m still on my duty…” Riko sighed, unsure what to do.

“Oh, I can take her home if you want, Kaizumi-sensei.” Muichiro suggested, gently patting the sleepy Mari.

“Ah… If that’s not too much trouble, Tokito.” Riko responded, giving a slightly worried but warm smile. Muichiro shook his head and took the sleepy brunette from Riko, holding her bridal style.

“Not at all.” Muichiro said, smiling fondly at his girlfriend and kissing her forehead, gently. The blue-eyed woman giggled at Muichiro’s actions.

“In that case, I should head back to my duties now. You should get going since I’ll be locking back this classroom.” Riko advised. The long-haired boy nodded silently and head out of the classroom with Mari in his arms. Riko stared at the wide open door, smiling.

“Those two are a match made in heaven…” Riko mumbled to herself, sighing. The keys chimed as she grabs them before exiting the classroom and locking it

What do you want us to do about it?"- He asks and Terry wasn't concerned about security or anyone breaking in, focusing on the tender flesh of your ass facing him. The idea was ludicrous. He'd leave his door wide open if need be as an invitation to anyone who wanted to cross him. He was king here. He'd act the king. If Larusso, Lawrence or whoever else wanted to play tough, well then, so be it. Kings don't hide. That's why they're kings. -"Let them come to us. I want them to be able to."- Terry manages through gritted teeth and waves of pleasure, rutting back and forth, eyes pinned on the outlined of your naked back, grabbing either side of your bouncing hips. -"Fight us on our own territory."- He adds through a heated grunt, his hands reaching forward to tangle themselves in your hair. Hyan-Woo nods, firm faced and icy, turning to leave, accepting his orders and directions; his poker face borderline amusing. -"Understood, Sasong."- He says with a small bow, the door of the lobby shuts behind him. The moan you've been suppressing comes out tattered and broken once you're alone, impaled on his cock.

adding onto my "Lou's rat turns into Rat!Splinter" au I just realized the perfect way to make this align with canon: the missing 6th turtle!

In the series there are 6 chambers in the lab that Lou & the guys get mutated in, and the showrunners confirmed that 2 of those are for sisters that the guys were going to be introduced to later in the series-

(who were specified to not be Jennika or Venus de Milo but we still generally use those names for them bc they haven't GIVEN us the names they were going to use so you gotta work with whatcha' got)

-and while the 5th sister has been confirmed to be Big Mama's assistant, that means that there's still 1 sister left and she is definitely NOT with Draxum (otherwise he'd probably shown her off to the guys in season 1).

So what happened to her?

Well, my idea is that, shortly after biting Lou, a certain rat goes through a mutation of his own and grows to a full adult size. Now fully aware of himself and what is going on (because he was there the whole time even if his lil rat brain couldn't really process it) he sees that there was a turtle that lou missed on his way out and goes "oooh free baby" grabs the kid and BOOKS IT.

(and then Draxum has to give the last kid to big mama as a down payment so he decides to just start over from scratch)

I think it would be really funny if his personality was a bit closer to 2003!splinter (kind, patient, wise, and a strong ability to bullshit these characteristics when he doesn't actually know the real answer to something) but he's got a bit more of a showman's flair and he's always going on very dramatically about the "betrayal" he committed against his sensei when he was unmutated and unaware of the world (aka biting his fucking finger) and mournfully wondering how he can atone.

His kid (who I will now refer to as Jennika because Venus is usually big mama's assistant) takes this all 100% seriously and thinks that this dude's probably dead (they have a full shrine set up) and often sends prayers to her father's master in hopes that he will one day forgive the horrific sin committed against his person (once again, rat!splinter biting his fucking finger).

Rat!Splinter also ran in the opposite direction of Lou, so he ended up in the hidden city, where he eventually managed to get a job as a martial arts instructor and he & Jennika live in a small apartment there.

They have absolutely no idea about any of the hamato drama until the whole Shredder thing when Lou & Leo's fight ends up getting publicly broadcast by Big Mama.

That is when they find out that Lou isn't as dead as Jennika assumed, or as out of reach as Rat!Splinter thought.

The 3am thoughts while I try to sleep have created a new au involving ghost Cole and my next gen ninja (mostly Milo). Fluff and feels galore.

It all begins with Day of the Departed, only instead of Cole returning to being alive he fails and becomes the new Master of the House and is effectivly erased from the world. He's stuck in this limbo worse thsn death for 300 years, until Lloyd's students the new Masters of the Elements of Creation and the Elements of Wojira decide to move into the Airjitzu Temple as secret ninja base (the curse that turns you into a ghost is no longer in affect due to the Yin Blade being destroyed).

One of these new Elemental Masters is Milo, the current Master of Earth. Though unlike his teammates his elemental powers are very weak and uncontrollable, the best he can do is make mini earthquakes and accelerate plant growth. As such he mostly plays a support role on the team.

He doesn't understand why his powers are weaker than everyone else's, until he finds and quickly befriends the ghost haunting their new ninja base. The centuries of lonliness mixed with the temple curse have caused Cole to forget everything about himself and his life before his non-existance. But through bonding with Milo and the other new ninja, he slowly regains bits of his humanity.

Milo wants to help his new friend, so he begins to look into a way to break the temple curse and free Cole that doesn't require having an innocent soul take his place. His only lead leads to a certain now imortal sensei, and something to do with the forces of death and life coming together

I just finished season five of Cobra Kai and saw what happened to Terry :( could we have some post season five beloved and Terry fluff? This ending needs some fixing

He wakes up on a familiar set of laid out silk sheets.

In his bed.

Glendower Avenue. Beverly Hills.

Terry Silver had the most peculiarly innate, complicated and nonsensical dream vivid even now, lingering, with the sun peeking through the heavy brocade curtains Milos promptly opens with his usual, curt 'Good Morning, Mr. Silver. You've a call from Hong Kong scheduled at eight. Which robe would you like this morning?' --- a usual, well-rehersed ritual. He had a genuine nightmare, he'd dare even say, for accuracy's sake, and even though Terry trained himself not to be affected or controlled by such things after the war through sheer discipline, this was one was something else; John has betrayed him. Terry betrayed him right back. The cops got involved. They didn't talk for thirty years previously --- too much bad blood between them appearantly. What the fuck did that even mean? Dynatox was more or less defunct and obsolete? His...life's work. Terry was miserably involved and equally uninvolved with Gwyneth Paltrow's more annoying cousin in a passionless arrangement and a peanut gallery of equally fucked up, stifling individuals and he became someone else due to it. He sold this house. Why did he sell this house and move out to Malibu? Where were Snake and Dennis? His old staff? Cobra Kai ceased to be for decades, and then it came back and ceased to be again. That Lawrence schmuck an obstacle at every turn, for some reason. Mike Barnes the narcoleptic furniture salesman. Someone called Sensei Joe. Someone who reminded him of Lady Snowblood from that crap movie he saw during his trip to Japan back in the 70's. The Larusso kid was a car salesman who crane kicked him into a glass trophy stand. Who the fuck is Stingray?

He should really lay off the champagne.

Or at least, have Margaret order him a batch of something of even grander quality.

Something that doesn't induce, well --- that shit.

-"My usual pintstripe."- He clarifies on his choice of bathrobe and then continues, slightly stiff, loathing the sensation of being quite so affected; -"Milos. What year is it?"-

He sits up in his bed and he genuinely has to ask, because that --- living hallucination, psychedelic nighttime trance, vision, coke fuelled high or whatever the fucking bullshit that was --- it felt real. Too real. Tangible enough to touch and sense under his fingertips like pulsating flesh. More real than any dream about Vietnam he could ever hope to have even years later. Ending in him led away in the back of a police car like a common criminal. And then he bolted awake. No longer gray and old and so decrepit and lost. -"1985, sir. June 25th."- Milos clarifies, removing the silk peignoir from the closet on it's silver hanger and rolling over his hand, waiting to help him drape himself into once he was ready to get up, being ever so professional in his attentions towards him as Terry adorned himself with the barrage of rings and his gold Rolex neatly placed on the night table, checking for time, trying to distract himself from the reeling, haunting sensation he felt, covered in cold sweat even as he slept entirely in the nude; something his staff was accustomed to by now. -"Are you alright, sir?"- Milos has to ask as Terry gets up, bolting off from the California king-size mattress and covers his nudity in satin, tying the sash around his waist, shaking himself off, cracking his shoulders and neck to get circulation back into his body. He needed to get to exercising right away and de-stress. That's it. Kick some air. Some of his sparring partners, preferably, determined to get himself back into gear and...shake this feeling of dread off.

Some Freddy Krueger bullshit this was.

-"No, I'm not fucking alright!"- Terry seethes, hissing, displeased and not making an effort to conceal it, sauntering towards his master bedroom's door in wide strides, affixing his gelled down hair into a state of order, Milos following his every step diligently. -"Have this bed thrown out and order a new one! I haven't slept well. I want it out by time I come back! Or better yet --- now!"- Terry halts, speaking firmly and feeling like himself again when he was out giving orders, pointing a bejewelled index finger back towards where he had the unfortunate...whatever...and Mr. Dadok nods with a prompt 'Yes, sir.' Fact is, everything that provided him with a nightmare where he and John fell out didn't deserve to exist. Should be burned on Sunset Boulevard like a witch. Terry slams the bedroom door and angrily huffs down the brutalist brick foyer, grand and intimidating, just like he liked and remembered it...just yesterday. He must've slept deep. Deep like the dead. Felt, subjectively, like he was gone for years. He wasn't. He was just smoking a Cohiba in his jacuzzi yesterday.

-"Mrs. Silver is in the dining hall, waiting for you to join her for breakfast."-

Following suit behind him, Milos alerts him of you.

Another thing clicks into place.

And relief. There's relief. Sense. Order. You.

Terry Silvers hastens his speed until he can barely be kept up with.

He needs to see you. Assure that you're real. Not illusory.

He needs to call Johnny too.

Milos, Annette's familiar makes his entrance. What's killing me is Sensei's smirk and deadpan "Ita, ita, ita." He's reminding me a lot of when I was in the hospital and full of morphine. "Ha ha. Never seen that happen before!"

Milos looks likes the world's goofiest scholar's cap, while Sensei is knocking back shots of poison. It's maybe not "disqualified for human life" here as much as "too ornery to die," or "better living through spite." "I've failed to die again." [and better yet, the words he uses is "I've fuzzed up dying again." Fail dude.]

"Annette, Annette, there this drug I'd like to buy," And the bandages on his face...he got his ass kicked by the Wrathful Dark Lord's daughter, who understandably has a grudge against Out Worlders since they just killed her father...stabbed him through and made a doughnut of him. And he still tried his talk-jutsu on her until he fell over. I bet he's going to end up with he cheat codes to the game by the end...
