reading about philip josephs and the early anarchist movement in aotearoa and i am Fascinated by the existence of nihilism as a political stance
#it basically stood in opposition to reformism#the idea is ''gradual change is pointless and will never actually change anything; the current order needs to be completely uprooted''#the movement originated in late 1800s latvia i think?? it was a more militant wing of a widespread jewish anarchists union#im curious if. sorry to disco elysium all over real politics but. i believe theres an innocence of nihilism introduced in the 70s#i wonder if the politics of nihilism in elysium are inspired by/based on irl nihilist socialism at all#i wouldnt be surprised tbh the elysium authors seem pretty familiar with anarcho-communist theory and history#or sorry not necessarily a more militant wing of the bund but a more radical one idk if the nihilists actually Did anything#and the bund were a marxist union not an anarchist one they just radicalized people who then became notable anarchists#anyway. wild

Patriach!!!!!! I love that fic it's so good and it really made me think about Bruce's relationship with Leslie
*spoilers*
So many Fics have Bruce not liking going to Leslie and I never really thought about it because that's how it's always been
But when Dick starts to point out that Bruce would rather bleed in an alleyway then face one of her lectures and I just sat there
Because kids really want to be accepted!!! And hearing only criticisms all the way well into adulthood will 100% destroy your mental health, and when you think about how much effort and sacrifices Bruce probably had to make to train under the best of the best, only for Leslie (who had an impact on him growing up but also was his dad coworker/friend) to dismiss all of it and tell him that violence is not the answer*.... It must of hurt
(*which is bull, we've been spilling blood for every freedom for as long as we've been around, open a history book Leslie)
I said this once (I think in dms with @wanderintofics) but I think it's very funny how Alfred has been cast into this overbearing mother role and Leslie has been cast as the distant and disappointed father role. Because where Alfred will relentlessly criticize Bruce, and withold care or affection if he feels Bruce doesn't deserve it, he will also always, always come back to Bruces side. It's a whole thing! Meanwhile Leslie will never whithold care, she's a doctor, she's a good doctor, but she will absolutely side with those criticizing Bruce whenever possible.
I think the fact that Leslie has been criticizing him this way since he's a kid influences it the most. Because hearing that your choices are a disappointment and your dead parents would be ashamed of you is. Not great!! Ever!! And since Alfred is literally an employee of the estate, Leslie is technically the only person in his life who gets nothing from him and isn't interested in pleasing or pacifying him. Alfred's criticism would hurt, of course, but there's also a level of "he's meant to be raising me into the perfect heir". Leslie has no such responsibilities, and that means her criticism is entirely personal.
There are two ways to write Leslie, and one is Watsonian (she represents an in universe belief) and the other is Doylest (she represents Batman critics in our universe). And my problem with her as a Doylest criticism is you cannot apply our universe rules to a universe with superheroes. The entire argument against capes falls apart with the first alien invasion. More then that, it simply isn't an interesting critique of the genre, because it inevitably falls into doomerisms and nihilism and I am supremely uninterested of that view of the world.
The Watsonian critique is slightly more interesting, because it at least has Leslie (reasonably!) acknowledge that she lives in a universe where superheros do exist, she is just personally against them. And my issue there is that Leslie is a militant pacifist, which boils down to "she believes you should also die for her beliefs". And. No.
She also believes that all violence is equal, when it clearly isn't and has never been, and insisting that it be treated as if it is is disingenuous and unhelpful. Its how we get people in prison for killing their abusers even in the most clear cut of cases. I disagree with her philosophy in the real world, and not even in a way that means I can agree in the fictional world, if that makes sense.
Leslie is a great character and I think she's very interesting even when I disagree with everything she's saying. I wish she had more screentime as n antagonist. Steph, for one, should not trust her ever again.

hey so I saw your post about allos and 'love is what makes us human' and I agree with you but I also never know how to respond when someone uses this phrase with me. maybe I'm stuck in the amatonormativity because I really don't know what makes us human outside of the love answer. what makes us human to you?
Hi! First of all, don't feel bad if you still see life through a love lens even within the aro/ace/aroace (assuming you're aspec) community. We all still live in a society that values the emotion of love more than other emotions, so it is a long journey of unlearning.
What made me understand that the ability/will to love isn't what makes us humans was, not so much surprisingly, animals. We tend to think we are so different than them, but in reality, all we differ in is that we crossed the threshold of consciousness and rationality. Animals do love, some species more than others. We can't say someone is human just based on that.
I already said that consciousness and rationality are concepts to consider when defining humankind, but they still aren't enough. That would assume people who lost consciousness or their rationality (people in comas or people with neurodegenerative disorders, for example) have lost their humanity, which is obviously false. Some may say our intelligence and our curiosity makes us human, but again, animals are smart and curious too.
I like to think that one of the things that might makes us human is our ability to make, give and search for purpose. It's our drive, what makes us go forward. Many things in our universe do not have a reason to be, and by themselves they'll never have. Why do we get sad? Why do we engage in wars? Why do we laugh when we see someone fall? Animals can also do all of these (in their appropriate proportions), but they don't ask themselves these questions, they just do what's innate of them. We do what's innate of us too, but we aren't satisfied with just that. We ask, and we need the answers. Why are we so stubborn? Why we live the way we live? Where do we go when we die? What are we doing here, even?
See, maybe we don't know the answers to all of these questions, but we sure do try to find them. Some even have them — they found their purpose within religion, community, militancy, philanthropy, nihilism and so on. I'm not saying the purpose needs to be collective, nor that it has to be a good thing. People give bad purposes to their lives and actions all the time. Greed. Ire. Boredom. The belief of being superior. That still makes them human (human as in human being, not as in person that inherently deserves sympathy — some people tend to convolute these definitions).
In the end, it's not just a simple concept that will answer the question of what gives us our humanity. I've said three but I am certain there are many others. I don't know if you will agree with me, and maybe in a few months I won't agree with myself either — as I said, long journey of unlearning (and also learning). But I hope I could make you a little bit inspired to search for your own answer.
btw I'm not aro (as far as I know for now), so I encourage you to also ask aro people from all sides of the spectrum for their own views on the "love is what makes us human" argument. And I'd also encourage you to not engage with people (specially online) if they give you "arguments" like this. Avoid all types of aphobia at all costs. Have a great day!

NaNoWriMo 2023: The Great Dilemma
Hi everyone.
For NaNoWriMo this year I'm bringing an old idea back from years ago, to see if I can write it better now.
The only problem is: I have so many ideas, I don't know which one to choose!
So I'm absolving myself of the responsibility by throwing the problem over to you, loyal readers! Below is a poll with the working titles (They're likely to change once written because I never stick with the title). You can find descriptions for each title below that. Vote for the one that you like the sound of best!
I'll be posting my progress on this blog every day in November (provided I'm able to write each day - watch this space...)
The Winter Spirit
Prisoners of War are made to spend the winter shovelling snow off the river so the icebreaker barges can clear the trade routes. At an old bridge, the prisoners begin to hear a strange song, calling them into the distance. One fateful day, a prisoner breaks ranks and runs for the bridge, searching for the irresistible song. On the run now from soldiers, wolves, and even his fellow prisoners, he must decide whether to stay in a world where he will never live, but never die; or return and face the consequences of his curiosity.
Themes: Freedom; Antifascism; Death; Creativity in times of strife.
Style: Like a Guillermo Del Toro fairy tale. There’s wonder, magic, and strange worlds, but there are also soldiers and bombs and hard labour.
Weal and Woe
A militant church spreads its gospel through violent hegemony, and all heretical artefacts are returned to the Cathedral of the Divine Flame for purification and disposal. However, when a magic dagger ends up in the hands of a middle management acolyte instead of the furnaces, and claims to be the voice of god, a typical coup for the hierarchy of the church suddenly becomes a whole lot more complicated.
Themes: Religion; Authoritarianism; Rebellion.
Style: Think Ikiru crossed with Small Gods. It’s about someone at the middle of their life, wondering what they’re doing; but it’s also about religious upheaval and a bloody coup and a magic dagger that talks with the voice of god, so...
Building Babel Higher
Babel was built. All the Devils poured out of Hell, climbed the tower, and killed God. But now he’s dead, they want to surpass his handiwork. Humanity has been drafted into building the tower ever higher, up into space, and after thousands of years the toil for the tower and life under the devils are all they know. But there are always people who wish to fight back, and the devils are beginning to see that these upstart rebels could be useful in their usurpation of their superiors. With support from the right party, it may be possible to destabilise the devils entirely…
Themes: Nihilism; Rebellion; Rebuilding after the apocalypse.
Style: Elaborate. Long musings on humanity, detailed descriptions of architecture, philosophical screeds. Various characters whose jobs are just to provide perspectives on philosophy, politics, and justice. I’ve been reading a lot of classics and the style is inspired by that.

Both fascism and the Islamic revolutionary movement are latecomers to the modern international political scene. As such, they share a number of essential features. The foremost of these is the appropriation of the legitimatory political myth of revolution. The Italian fascists boasted of their “revolutionary intransigence” and the Nazis contrasted their revolution, the revolution of the German Volk, to the “subhuman revolution” of 1789. Similarly, Iran’s revolutionaries take great pride in the historic mission of the Islamic Revolution.
“Economics was indeed one of the least important fascist considerations.” The same is true of the Islamic Revolution. (Khomeini, responding to complaints about the state of the economy, once remarked, “we did not make the Islamic Revolution so the Persian melon would be cheap.”) Furthermore, like the European fascists, the Islamic militants aim at integrating all classes, including the working class, into a national community. The fascists substituted “nation” for “class” and developed the concept of “the proletarian nations.” Class conflict was thus replaced by the conflict between nations, rich against poor. With the Islamic revolutionaries in Iran, we have an identical transposition of the theme of exploitation of one class by another into the exploitation of the “disinherited” (mustaz’af) nations by the imperialist ones.
“The fact that fascism is a latecomer,” writes Linz, “helps to explain, in part, the essential anti-character of its ideology and appeal.” Furthermore, “it is paradoxical that for each rejection there was also an incorporation of elements of what they rejected.” Like fascism, the Islamic revolutionary movement has offered a new synthesis of the political creeds it has violently attacked. And, like the fascists, the Islamic militants are against democracy because they consider liberal democracy a foreign model that provides avenues for free expression of alien influences and ideas. (Also like the fascists, however, the Islamic militants would not necessarily accept the label of “antidemocratic.”) Similarly, both groups are antibourgeois, resenting the international cosmopolitanism of the new middle class. Both movements are anti-Marxist—i.e., anticommunist and antisocialist—while appropriating the ideas and certainly the slogans of social justice and equality. The Islamic revolutionary movement has the considerable advantage over fascism, however, of combining this “anti-character” with strong traditionalism. Here we can see the consequence of the fact that the dispossessed leaders of the Islamic Revolution were not a heterogeneous but a homogenous solidary group and, furthermore, one that guarded the Shi’ite religious tradition. In contrast to the Nazi “Revolution of Nihilism”, the Islamic Revolution combines the rejection of other alien political ideologies with a vigorous affirmation of the Islamic religious and cultural tradition. I have therefore characterized it as “revolutionary traditionalism.”
In addition to their anti-character and other incidental features, fascism and the Islamic revolutionary movements both have a distinct constitutive core. Racism and anti-Semitism were the most obnoxious features of European fascism, but, as Mosse and others have convincingly shown, not its core component. The constitutive core of fascism that goes beyond European fascism and continues to live in a variety of forms as a vigorous ideological force in the third world is the combination of nationalism and socialism. As Georges Valois put it in 1925, “nationalism + socialism = fascism.” The marriage of nationalism and socialism was in the cards after World War I. This fact by far transcends the particular conditions of any dispossessed stratum, any European country, or, for that matter, of interwar Europe. It was arrived at by different fascist leaders in different European countries, and it has been arrived at independently by many third-world ideologues since 1945.
An enduring feature of fascist ideology has been its insistence on the reality of the nation and the artificiality of class. To the emotionally unattractive ideal of perpetual class struggle, the French fascist thinker Marcel Deat contrasts the appeal of belonging to a community untainted by divisive conflict and fragmentation: “The total man in the total society, with no clashes, no prostration, no anarchy.” The Arab nationalist thinkers sought to utilize the appeal of belonging to a community by similarly replacing class by nation. The advocates of Islamic ideology only needed to take one step further to replace the nation by the umma, the Muslim community of believers.

Okay but listen, a blockbuster budget movie that follows the Karate Kid/any master-and-apprentice coming of age tale that’s done deadpan serious, but it’s about becoming a clown and following the clown code instead of like, becoming a warrior or whatever.
The protagonist is a kid who’s struggling in school, generally not living up to what their parents wanted them to be, and though they outwardly express this as militant apathy and rebellion, we see moments where it’s clear they detest themselves and wish they were what their parents wanted.
Until the day they meet Knockadoo, a clown who they catch in the act of sitting in an alley after genuinely a great show flicking the top off a bottle, about to break code because they’ve forgotten why they got into this game to begin with. Over the course of the film Knockadoo gives the protagonist a lesson in how to live even in the face of what feels like failure and shows them that just getting up and standing for something (like The Code) is an act of bravery. In return, Knockadoo slowly is reminded of why they’re doing this job to begin with.
The underlying message is one of positive nihilism (the world might be pointless so give it a point yourself, and choose to make others happy) and self-acceptance and self-love as a radical, revolutionary, worthwhile act.

good thing about being a socialist militant is that it your nihilism just leaves and gets replaced with an understanding of where you stand, that you are not the beginning or the end of the fight and you're just here to do your part and trust the process. bad thing is that you will constantly doubt if you've just imported religious fanatism and made it anarchist. second bad thing is that if you aren't careful you start really hating your non militant loved ones. third thing is probably the anger.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas, which is waging war with Israel in Gaza, said the pager blasts were an “escalation” that will only lead Israel to “failure and defeat”. …
The casualties included Hezbollah fighters who are the sons of top officials from the armed group, two security sources told Reuters. One of those killed was the son of a Hezbollah member of the Lebanese parliament, Ali Ammar, they said.
“This is not a security targeting of one, two or three people. Hezbollah was already angry with Israel–and this type of terroristic action will mainly tend to get Hezbollah even more upset and more determined to strike Israel.

Official Lebanese Health Ministry figures are that nine people were killed in the simultaneous pager explosions, including a young girl, and some 2,750 wounded. The Lebanese government has identified “Israeli aggression” as being behind the attack, while Hezbollah also says it holds Israel “fully responsible”. Israel has yet to issue official comment, but there are several reports from the region that war preparations are underway. There are reports of evening Israeli shelling of Hezbollah positions in south Lebanon.
Israel’s Channel 14 is reporting that “senior Israeli military officials are preparing for a third Hezbollah war which is expected to begin almost immediately.” The US State Department has said the US “was not aware of this operation and was not involved” in the attack. The WSJ has offered some initial details on the sophisticated attack, which Lebanese and Arabs have condemned as a major ‘terror attack’. “The affected pagers were from a new shipment that the group received in recent days, people familiar with the matter said,” WSJ writes. “A Hezbollah official said hundreds of fighters had such devices, speculating that malware may have caused the devices to explode. The official said some people felt the pagers heat up and disposed of them before they burst.” …
Israeli media says Mossad rigged the pager batteries of a shipment that was imported five months ago:
The Israeli spy agency placed a quantity of PETN, a highly explosive material, on the batteries of the devices, and detonated them by raising the temperature of the batteries from afar, the source says.
There are initial reports that more European airlines have began cancelling flights to Lebanon and Israel amid more headlines of war plans. So many people are going to die on both sides. …
But I do not expect the IDF to launch a military operation in southern Lebanon quite yet.
Netanyahu is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly later this month, and during that address I expect him to publicly make his case for military action against Hezbollah…

I do not think that all-out war will erupt before Netanyahu delivers that speech.
But it may come fairly soon afterwards. …

Perhaps a peace deal of some type will be proposed at the UN this month. Perhaps it will be confirmed by someone such as KT Guttenberg next month.
It remains my belief that Hezbollah will reign a volley of bombs on Israel relatively soon. Those in Jerusalem, and not just in the northern portion of Israel, should be concerned. I also believe that Iran and Syria will also become more directly involved against Israel.
The Bible shows that God will allow the nation of Israel to be hit as shown in the Israel Bible translation:
5 For my Lord God of Hosts had a day Of tumult and din and confusion— Kir raged in the Valley of Vision, And Shoa on the hill; 6 While Elam bore the quiver In troops of mounted men, And Kir bared the shield— 7 And your choicest lowlands Were filled with chariots and horsemen: They stormed at Yehuda‘s* gateway.
8 And pressed beyond its screen. You gave thought on that day To the arms in the Forest House,9 And you took note of the many breaches In the City of David. And you collected the water of the Lower Pool; 10 and you counted the houses of Yerushalayim and pulled houses down to fortify the wall; and you constructed a basin between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you gave no thought to Him who planned it, You took no note of Him who designed it long before. (Isaiah 22:5-10)
Yehuda above means Judah, which is the modern nation called Israel. And Yerushalayim is commonly known as Jerusalem.
The old Worldwide Church of God published the following related to Elam:
Iranians comprise nearly 70 percent of the country. Iranians, though Islamic, are totally distinct from the neighboring Arab peoples of the Middle East. They are a mixed people of the remnants of Media and Elam and other ancestors of Semitic and Hamitic stock. (Stump K. South Asia in Prophecy. Plain Truth, July/August 1986, p. 5)
Let me add that, according to the late Dr. Hoeh of the old Radio/Worldwide Church of God:
Madai is the father of the Medes. The Medes used to be associated with the Persians. You will read about them especially in the book of Daniel. Hence, this seems to support more being from Elam than Media in Iran.
Kir looks to include Syrians and others in the region. For example, the Bible tells that after Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria took over Damascus, he moved Syrians to Kir. While this does not mean that Kir must (or must only) be a reference to Syria, the fact that Syria is an ally of Iran is interesting. Some believe Kir is an area in the south of Iran (which could then include some in Iraq), while others suggest closer to the Black Sea (which Turkey borders). God’s word has the expression “the Syrians from Kir” (Amos 9:7), which is basically confirmation that Kir of Isaiah 22 would include Syrians. The prophecy that “Kir uncovered the shield” suggests that Syria will have somehow reduced the effectiveness of Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ and/or other defensive equipment the nation of Israel will use.
The “House of the Forest” was anciently located in Lebanon (e.g. 1 Kings 7:2, 10:17,21; 2 Chronicles 9:16,20)–see also A Discourse on the House of the Forest of Lebanon, pp: 111-134 in Bunyan J. Stebbing H. The Entire Works of John Bunyan, Volume 4. Virtue and Company, 1860.
Here is the Catholic Public Domain Version translation of Isaiah 22:8:
8 And the covering of Judah will be exposed, and in that day, you will see the weaponry of the forest house. (Isaiah 22:8, CPDV)
A way for Judah to “see the weaponry of the forest house” would be a massive attack by Hezbollah. In Isaiah 22:8, “Judah” is a reference to those in the land commonly called Israel–God will allow Israel to be attacked!
In Isaiah 22:1-14, the Bible shows that God will allow something that appears to be an Iranian-Syrian-Southern Lebanese confederation, to strike the nation of Israel.
In my view, Iran, Hezbollah, and Syria are most likely consulting with each other to determine how and when to launch a major attack against Israel.
Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ and other defenses will not be able to protect Jerusalem against enough of the coming attack to prevent great damage.

That said, IF Jesus is to return in 2031, then I expect a regional war involving Israel will occur soon, beyond what we have seen with Israel and Gaza and Hezbollah before today, and/or a proposed peace plan that will be confirmed by the “prince” of Daniel 9:26-27 this fall. Perhaps today’s terrorist act from Israel actually is the start of that broader regional war. We will see.

10.2 Two opposed points of view on organization.
In 1971 Comontism took shape and the group that had formed based on the positions of Invariance [the journal directed by Camatte] dissolved. It must be mentioned that both tendencies had diametrically opposed attitudes towards the “question of organization.” One of these attitudes was in fact that of Cesarano and a large part of the current. The idea of Comontism instead whimsically identified its own members (largely veterans of the similar Organizzazione Consigliare di Torino) with the historical party of the proletariat, or, even better, with the “human community.”
On this basis, it created an organization with branches in several Italian cities (see Maelström, No. 2), which erased any distinction between theoretical and practical activity, between public life and private life, between individual and organization. Comontism thus attempted to breathe life into a concrete communism, characterized by:
The collectivization of all resources for survival;
A “total” way of living together;
The constant practice of the “critique of everyday life” in order not to yield to the pressure imposed by society in the form of family, social milieu, legal relations, etc.
The immediatist illusion of the group caused it to overlook one fundamental fact: that between capitalism—that is, between personal relations dominated by valorization—and communism, there is a revolution that, according to Marx, serves among other things to “get rid of all the old shit.” For Comontism the Gemeinwesen [human community] had to be put into practice here and now: it was all about the passage to communism of twenty or thirty persons, communizing all relations all at once: this idea would lead inevitably and immediately to the production of an ideology: immediatism was rapidly followed by the elaboration of a whole set of “theoretical” corollaries.
In retrospect, we have to sympathize with Comontism: it was a group of courageous individuals who always stayed at their posts at the revolutionary front, bravely confronting harsh repression and fighting against various Maoist-workerist splinter groups that had specialized military structures crafted to ensure that the assemblies and demonstrations were conducted in a way that was acceptable to their father-master PCI (with the sole exception —besides, naturally, the Bordiguist groups that had already experienced the armed repression of the “extraparliamentary” Stalinists—of Potere Operaio, a group devoted to guerrilla tactics which, although it did not publicly defend the revolutionaries, was always opposed to […]the systematic calumnies of the left which had for several years been proclaiming that “situationists=fascists.” It is indisputable, however, that Comontism was a revolutionary group, which the Cronaca di un ballo mascherato justly cited as part of the radical communist current. Not in vain did it claim to have remained on the terrain of revolutionary practice, when so many other former Luddites had accepted the separation between the “militant” public life and private life, which soon led them to passive nihilism and, in many cases, to renounce the revolutionary option in favor of worldly success or simply a tranquil life. On the other hand, one cannot avoid criticizing the retreat of Comontism with respect to the level attained by Ludd. Comontist immediatism is nothing but a substitutionism of the proletariat carried to its logical extreme.
From this point of view, Comontism was an authentic model of ideology, based on an undeclared but easily recognizable hierarchy, which subjected its recruits to initiation tests and examinations of their radicality. The most disastrous aspect of Ludd, which we shall discuss in connection with Cesarano’s critique, became a systematically and relentlessly applied ideology. Among its ideological conclusions we find: the apology for crime (the only respected and recognized way to survive); the praise, not publicly proclaimed, but a constant feature within the group, for hard drugs as an instrument of destructuring and liberation from family and repressive relations; the sectarian attitude of superiority displayed towards every element external to the organization; the group’s hostility to the hard working, sheep-like proletariat, which was viewed as just as culpable as everyone else who was not part of the organization. All of this turned Comontism into a gang at war with all of humanity, and an uncritical follower of the criminal model. This is what we mean by “ideology”: the theorization of this practical attitude in fact prevented any critical procedure from assuming a material basis: they were dogmas embedded in the extremely coercive experience of the members of the group. This form of immediatism was certainly one of the reasons that prevented Cesarano from drawing practical conclusions, and which led him to lose himself in sterile abstractions.
However, behind this and other dead ends of Cesarano we find certain positions that are diametrically opposed to those of Comontism: the positions of Invariance.
Invariance had “resolved” the problem of organization by studying the measures employed by Marx to prevent the party from succumbing to bourgeois reformism during the period of counterrevolutionary retreat. This analysis was extremely partial, since it completely ignored all of Marx’s activity that was devoted to building the communist party, and distorted the revolutionary tradition by avoiding a critical examination of the purely political activity of Marx taken as a whole. This attitude was expressed in a text from 1969, published three years later by Invariance under the title, “On Organization,” signed by Camatte-Collu, which can be summarized as follows:
Under the real domination of capital every organization tends to be transformed into a Mafia or a sect;
Invariance avoided this danger by dissolving the embryonic group that had begun to form around the journal;
All organized groups are excluded a priori, because of the risk that they will be transformed into Mafias;
Relations between revolutionaries are only useful at the highest level of theory, which each individual can attain in a personal and independent way, or otherwise fall prey to followerism.
According to Camatte and Collu, the danger of individualism was of no account because the “production of revolutionaries” was already underway—in 1972: the extension of the revolutionary process was such that a network of interpersonal contacts at the “highest” level of theory was already guaranteed and was even evident.
Thus, Camatte and Collu expressed in the clearest way an error that was typical of the entire current and of Cesarano himself. In reality, a pre-revolutionary stage on an international level was not opening up in 1972 (despite the fact that the movement would continue to resist, although only in Italy), nor was an inexorable production of revolutionaries imminent (even Camatte and Collu would desert). Therefore, the disregard of individualism was nothing but an illusion. There was nothing glorious about dissolving the small group that was forming around the journal. This did nothing but accelerate what was already taking place: the dispersion of the sparse revolutionary forces that remained from 1968, forces which would not experience a resurgence (in France there were no more large-scale social uprisings, and in Italy the revolutionary current faced 1977 so weakened by individualism that it was incapable of undertaking any relevant interventions). In fact, individualism favored the dissolution of the revolutionary perspective: either because life in isolation produced a feeling of reduced self-esteem—which could only be escaped by comparing oneself with one’s peers—which prevented one from perceiving the movement and which generated discouragement and depression, the loss of one’s defenses against the invasion from “outside” and surrender to dominant tendencies; or because it disguised personalism and elitism, and served to enable one to get rid of those uncomfortable relations that could stand in the way of an opportunist reinsertion into bourgeois ideology. During the seventies and eighties the work of the liquidation of the organizational remnants (which were by then fragile and informal) and the unjustified fear of succumbing to politics, “workerism” or leftism, contributed the impulse to jump to the “other side of the barricade” for those exponents of the “elite” who had transformed theory into a fetish and who were mistrustful of the alleged danger of followerism (a danger that was actually imaginary and non-existent: in Italy no group or personality exercised any attraction or obtained passive followers such as the Situationist International had on the other side of the Alps. In France, in any event, Invariance never did so). We have been analyzing two views regarding organization that were typical of the seventies, which we can reject without any remorse, and above all without falling prey to any of the mystifications offered by the youngest elements. The first view, that of Comontism, is the model of the criminal gang-historical party-human community. Although respectable from a human point of view (like its current epigone, the French group, Os Cangaceiros), and although it was often interesting for the practical-organizational-lifestyle solutions that it proposed (the revolutionaries must live “as if” communism was already a fact and could thus face the terrible struggle for survival together, which was twice as hard for them), its vision was born from resentment: the proletariat is not revolutionary, so “we” (the tiny groups) are the proletariat; we are the now-realized human community. This led them to a dogmatic and ideological evaluation of their own sectarian activity and offered the most disastrous answers: the terroristic self-criticism imposed on every gesture and every word; the fetishism of coherence; the lurking possibility of political decline, caused above all by the spell cast by action, which led them to become a mere gang of loud-mouthed thugs. All of this was based on the totemic-fetishistic blackmail of “practice,” in the ideological scorn for theory and lucid action.
The other, “invariantist,” view, which would later spread over a large part of the radical current, is the model of the circle of relations among “theoreticians.” In this case, the enormous totem-fetish of theory conceals the unilateral nature of relations limited to a tiny elite of “critics.”
Such an attitude, now that the illusions regarding a rapid and abundant “production of revolutionaries” have dissipated, amounts in reality to pure and simple individualism. Instead, there is nothing left to do but to adjust to the fact that the revolutionaries are now isolated. To increase their current powerlessness by taking a position against organization does not make any sense. The alternative of continuing to pursue this option, in an environment of the anxious atomization of revolutionaries, insisting on the anti-Mafia phobia and on the exclusivity of relations between a handful of the elect (if one can find any such elect) at the highest level (higher than what?) of theory, is not very attractive.
Although it is now clear that the resurgence of activism and militancy rapidly leads back to politics, it is also clear that the fetish of theory separated from collective efficacy and, if possible, organized practice, offers no way out. Communist principles, united with a critical theory animated by its contrast with the theory of the previous two decades and with the principle results of the recent past—that is: a revolution of and for life, a questioning of the limits of the ego and of personal identity (which in the work of Cesarano are denounced vehemently and comprehensively), the experience of a revolution in the revolution—are the only antidotes against the Mafioso degeneration, which cannot be escaped by way of self-valorizing isolation, and much less by the original and personal road of an alleged creativity.
It is obvious that in 1970 there was no danger posed by the possibility that a militant-activist group associated with Invariance or a core group of “theoreticians” would be formed. In fact, the danger was just the reverse: disintegration and the neglect of the most important questions that should have been addressed:
The reformulation of the contribution of the historical ultraleft (Bordiga and the most consistent sector of the German revolution, which were decisive for the world revolution);
Draw up a balance sheet of the new contents contributed by the sixties;
The need to create a network of relations capable of enduring and prepared to reinitiate the revolutionary possibilities that were presented during the seventies.
According to Camatte and Collu the “production of revolutionaries” would magically resolve all problems, when what actually took place immediately thereafter was the dispersion of the revolutionaries, and it became evident that they were incapable of taking advantage of the opportunity that would be once again, and only in Italy, be presented.
In the following years the question of nihilism arose, still posed in terms that were upside down with respect to reality: in reality the expressions of nihilism were the abandonment of the revolutionary tradition, the end of the search for communist relations among subversives, the denial of the need to become an effective community, and the underestimation of the need to avoid being dragged down by the counterrevolution.
Comontism was a caricature of relations between revolutionaries, with its illusion that all problems could be magically resolved by the right ideology, and its pretension of being the embodiment of the theory of the sixties, now complete, which only had to be applied in practice without any delay. Although it was aberrant and unsustainable on the theoretical plane, this simplification was based on a profoundly correct demand: theory cannot be a separate and specialized activity, it is an integral part of the everyday coherence of revolutionaries and the need to change reality in its entirety, to have an impact on society and on history.
Comontism had a doubly counterproductive result:
Because it created a gang that proclaimed itself to be the enemy of society and the proletariat, preventing any possibility of forming a pole of regroupment and of having an effect on society;
Because it was easily recuperable by the most typical ideology of the seventies: that which consisted in justifying—as Toni Negri did—the groups produced by social disintegration, instead of subjecting them to a radical critique. This made Comontism incapable of providing any perspective to a sector, one that was much more coherent in 1977, of young people who broke with the hierarchical and instrumental armed practice of Autonomia Organizatta and who instead wanted to act for themselves, courageously but with impoverished and confused ideas.
Comontism, however, was right to reject the elitism of the few who act “at the highest level of theory.” Such elitism could only lead to the creation of relations rooted solely on the intellectual plane.
Cesarano was the only person who acted on the highest level, producing a clear and explicit theory, completely anti-esoteric, vainly trying to provide a human solution to this pseudo-intellectual milieu, characterized by its absolute fragility and by its tremendous incoherence (except for Piero Coppo and Joe Fallisi, the only other people among his comrades who preserved a revolutionary coherence, without nourishing any pretenses to superiority derived from the possession of theory).

A crimson-tinged dusk bled onto the storm-wracked plains where Bao and his brethren stood, a beacon of divine fire against the encroaching shadows. The reek of sulfur and charred flesh lingered in the air, testament to their righteous fury. They had purged the desecrated temple - once a monument to the Goddess of Love, twisted into a lair of depravity by a cult that worshipped her corrupted visage. Bao, his lithe warrior's frame scarred yet vibrant, sheathed his blessed blade, its edge imbued with the celestial light she bestowed upon her zealots.
The whispers followed them even in victory; murmurs of obscenity and heresy at the Goddess’ command of such militant devotion. They called it fanaticism, blind faith. But Bao knew the truth. True love wasn't just a whispered sonnet or a blushing glance - it was a raging inferno against the encroaching nothingness, a shield against nihilism. And the Goddess's fury was greatest against those who took her gifts and turned them into means of abuse and control.
He saw their fear in the haunted eyes of the liberated villagers, their whispered tales of forced servitude and twisted oaths under the cult’s banner. He heard their ache in the trembling touch of a young man who reached out, not for arms of steel, but of solace. In the flickering firelight of the makeshift camp, Bao shed his armor, laying bare the honed temple of flesh that was as much a sacred instrument as his blessed blade. The Goddess had ordained it so - to heal non-physical wounds through the very act of creation, to embody the uninhibited joy and communion she desired for all.
His touch was a baptism of light against the encroaching shadows, both within and without. Every caress was a whispered promise of comfort, every thrust a hymn to life and the Goddess’ boundless bounty. He gave himself freely, unreservedly, his lithe frame contorting in ways that spoke of both sacred war and earthly pleasure. For Bao, devotion manifested not just in battle cries and righteous fury, but in the shared whispers and gasps of bliss under a starlit sky.
He bore her blessings within him - the Goddess' touch woven into the tapestry of his very being. As his womb carried the burgeoning life born from their sacred union, it served as a living testament to their cause, each kick and flutter a tiny hymn of renewal. The villagers watched with awed whispers, their eyes tracing the graceful swell of his belly, a symbol that transcended mere flesh and bled into something celestial, something undeniably divine. In this ravaged land, Bao stood not just as paladin, but as living embodiment of their Goddess's boundless love - fierce, unwavering, and fertile in its sacred embrace.

Meditation: What is God's call on your life? When Jesus embarked on his mission he chose twelve men for the task of preaching the kingdom of God and healing the sick in the power of that kingdom. In the choice of the twelve, we see a characteristic feature of God's work: Jesus chose very ordinary people. They were non-professionals, who had no wealth or position. They were chosen from the common people who did ordinary things, had no special education, and no social advantages. Jesus wanted ordinary people who could take an assignment and do it extraordinarily well. He chose these men, not for what they were, but for what they would be capable of becoming under his direction and power.
Jesus calls you to serve him - will you say yes today and tomorrow?
When the Lord calls us to serve, we must not shrug back because we think that we have little or nothing to offer. The Lord takes what ordinary people, like us, can offer and uses it for greatness in his kingdom. Do you make your life an offering to the Lord and allow him to use you as he sees fit?
"Lord Jesus, fill me with gratitude and generosity for all you have done for me. Take my life and all that I have as an offering of love for you, who are my All."

the cost of disunity
“They were likewise to have authority to expel demons.” —Mark 3:15
Jesus created His Church and gave it the power to expel demons (Mk 3:15). We are authorized to be the Church Militant and drive out the demons of abortion. A battle rages fiercely in the USA over the future of legalized abortion in the various states, dividing the nation sharply.
This coming week will feature a time of prayer for Christian unity. The teaching of the Catholic Church on abortion is united in truth; however, the Church’s members are not united, much less all the members of Christian denominations. We have a civil war going on in our hearts (Jas 4:1; Jer 17:9). If the New Covenant were truly written on our hearts (Heb 8:10), we wouldn’t be so splintered and divided. If we followed God’s New Covenant and lived as His royal and united people (Heb 8:10; cf Jer 31:33), we wouldn’t so readily allow millions of babies in the womb to be murdered.
“Today, if you should hear His voice, harden not your hearts” (Heb 3:7-8; Ps 95:7-8). Repent! “Open wide your hearts” (2 Cor 6:13). Let the Holy Spirit work on your heart as He wishes (see Rm 5:5).
Prayer: “My heart is ready, God, my heart is ready” (Ps 57:7, JB).
Promise: “I will forgive their evildoing, and their sins I will remember no more.” —Heb 8:12
Praise: Pope St. Fabian promoted missionary work and condemned heresy, even to the point of giving his life.

The Specialist 2: One Hit Wonder (Kampucheans)

Often mocked, by England, for having invented myths backwards, through influence of "Romani", the word they invented; influence of word alone, marking children of prostitutes with bondage submissives stolen on their orders; often undone, however, with the present of a "Grey", a peace agitator that's actually a "Gremlin", a professional militant hunter of lesbians, their servants.
Taft: A switch tryptich of weight loss and gain, switching between muscular and obese, per generation. A German line, known for being pleasant in the destruction of others, often claiming tears and sobbing "chocolates", their pleased farts, however mistaking victims of other lines as fellow Tafts, a "chocolate berry", when assisted into their own financial demise. Founders of the Masonic Lodge, the narcotrafficking and narcotics prevention forces, of the military, taking away drugs to harm; undone by witch trials, related to narcotics, where the wealthy are purgatoried for performing drug use, removing drugs from the poor but leaving them in the rich, the entire Lodge undone from mercenary "French hire", out of Germany, with a myth in place from the culprit.
Bannister: A German line, the "goodwife", known to spread myths of hobgoblins and sinners through use of Leibniz, the math they developed while frauding Isaac Newton, in England. Leibniz, inducing a condition known as 'psychopathy wilderness', is only countered by the use of the word 'retarded' to refer to simplistic mathematical logic, hence calculus is removed entirely, the proper form prior and after Newton, assuming even Leibniz to never exist. The proofs involved, applied to art, therefore, culprit hunt those hiring the Bannisters for their logistics and appliances.
Nixon: A line of colon retardant, their colons retain moisture, for a poor smell typefied by a scent similar to sweat, actually their inner bowel moldering with fear and anger, the "graceful passion of God", as their admirer, Stanley "Lee" Leiberman, of Marvel Comics, called it. Spider-Man, was built on their legend, that of a wall crawling menace, someone that would monitor you through federal forces, to make sure you made their press, copy, news, and petty literature, just like they wanted; without masturbating.
Pratt: A lower line of Nixons, born into the Scythians, they are mostly useless, having been confronted with "anti-Semitism" from "Jews", the "Jewish anti-Semitism", their entire life, by the O'Neills, Clan Nihil, of the Steppes of Russia, often confused as to the origin, placing such defects into the other lines of the homoerotics. O'Riordan: The most savage and vicious of the Kampucheans, these ones perform a high financial service for a military household, only accepting paramilitary and criminal hire, at the expense of a father's semen stolen, the father of an actress, to breed back in. Once "infirmed", they have produced and banqued a new line, they will volunteer their death for new "slaves", those involved in the conspiracy to kill them, unable to kill another O'Riordan in the future, their entire profession open to more hires of O'Riordans.

Okay. I have literally not said a single thing about what I think of any of the factions, but pop off, I guess.
Just for fun, I'll tell you what I actually think each faction's rough political alignment would be. You don't need to read it if you don't want to, I didn't read your stuff either.
Big surprise - every Imperium faction is fascist. Eugenicist as well. Sure, there's slight variations, varying levels of theocracy and systems of capitalism and feudalism within the greater fascist structure, but at the end of the day, it's all just fascism.
Chaos is just all over the place, politically speaking. The Black Legion is basically just as imperialist as the Imperium and just wants a slightly different flavor of fascism killing the galaxy, the Night Lords somehow manage to be more fascist than the Imperium, which I didn't think was possible, and the World Eaters seem kind of anarchocommunist in their more lucid moments. The rest of chaos is some sort of wack-ass flavor of anarchism, maybe? Except the foundation of almost all anarchist ideology is mutual cooperation and chaos is extremely individualistic, so... Theoretical anarchocapitalism? Militant nihilism? The pop-culture perception of what being anarchist means?
Orks are either another weird semi-anarchocapitalism or just extremely volatile imperialism.
Craftworld Eldar seem to have a kind of communist utopia figured out, but they're extremely isolationist about it, which kinda goes against the idea of world revolution pretty heavily.
Drukhari are anarchosyndicalist, propably. I don't really know much about anarchosyndicalism but it seems right.
Leagues of Votann are extremely capitalist, obviously.
The Tyranid Hive Mind is too vast and incomprehensible to be assigned a definite political alignment, but their constant consumption without regard for consequences has capitalist characteristics.
The Genestealer Cults are a genuine maoist revolutionary force, but sadly, they're just funded by foreign powers to destabilize an enemy government (a.k.a. getting Lenined).
The T'au are a jingoist caste-based society that has basically nothing to do with communism. If you want to be charitable you could say they're doing soviet-style imperialism under the cover of "internationalism", but honestly, they have more in common with modern-day american interventionalism.
We don't really know anything about Farsight's actual policies, but it seems he's toned down on the imperialism and the caste system, which is good.
