no, taking acetaminophen in normal amounts isn't likely to affect your stomach lining, but taking more than the recommended daily maximum for an extended period of time absolutely can, and this thread was made in response to a meme made by and for (largely) chronic pain-havers self-medicating with NSAIDs, who are more likely to find the risk-reward of taking more than the recommended daily maximum worth it. taking 4-6 grams of acetaminophen near-daily for months on end is why i can no longer drink orange juice from concentrate without getting stomach pain for days and black stools for a week+. that's an upper GI bleed, something that should only be possible via citric acid with peptic ulcers, which i verifiably don't have, or after stomach surgery. nonetheless, this was documented by a GI doctor.

the above response incorrectly assumes that their knowledge base doesn't have gaps, and if the OP's condition is anything like mine, severely downplays their lived experience. no matter how well-trained they are, pharmacists can't know every edge case, especially ones without a decent body of research.

also worth mentioning: i was warned off long-term use of NSAIDs in general by my doctor, despite recently discovering that celebrex is a game-changing addition to my existing pain regimen, because of the risk of kidney damage. uncertain if any of my diagnoses went into that warning or if it was a general one, but i don't have any kidney-related conditions.
