The long story of why you became Taylor Swift's fan?
i was 12 years old when saw her performing tim mcgraw at the cmas on tv and i begged and begged and begged my mom for her cd for christmas and i GOT it i was so happy i played that album everyday for like a year.
when fearless came out, i used my own christmas money to buy it. i spent all christmas day playing it on my new ipod nano
for speak now, i preordered one of the album bundles and i still remember how excited i was the day it arrived. i wore that chunky plastic speak now bracelet for months. (i saw speak now in milwaukee the summer i was 17. i cried so much though the whole concert haha)
when red dropped i skipped my college class to walk to the local walgreens so i could buy it. i had no money, but i even shelled out for a red shirt while i was there.
when 1989 came out i spent hours in the car in the driveway of my house after work just to listen to it. i remember driving laps around my small home town with blank space on repeat.
when reputation came out, i begged my coworker to cover for me so i could run to the target at our mall so i could buy it on release day; that night me and my cousin drank wine and blasted it through our whole apartment.
when lover dropped, i was in a hotel room, listening to it with my best friend who lives 1000 miles away and stayed up just to listen to it with me because she knows how much i love taylor swift.
for folklore and evermore i was alone in my single room apartment crying over so many of the lyrics. im a flight attendant; i was working on the front lines during the pandemic. those albums brought such comfort.
and finally, midnights. stayed up again all night streaming it with my best friend. we texted lyrics back and forth all night long.
with every album taylor has released, its only made me love her more. im 29 now. im a writer; i would say her lyrics have influenced so much of the way i approach writing and how i channel emotions into it. and, shes just always been a part of my life. i feel so lucky to live in a timeline where she not only exists but is finally thriving and getting the love and recognition she deserves.

Progress since last week...
Falling behind in my CMA studies, got bored with it last week, told myself I'd catch up over the weekend, but we had two soccer games on Saturday and two more on Sunday, so I knew I was telling myself a lie.
And I'm traveling for work this week, so I will fall farther behind, but I am not lying to myself this time when I say I'll have some time over the weekend to study, it's just a matter of making myself do it. Besides the work trip should help me with networking goals and inspire some future storytelling.
The work trip is a 3-day conference at the hotel near our corporate HQ. I made some good impressions with a few senior leaders, I made some good connections with the people I was sitting close to, I skipped an hour session after lunch and snuck away to the office to meet some colleagues in person for the first time. The last few presentation of the day between 3:30-5p got a little boring, but all in all I was having a good day.
Cocktails were 5p, then back in the main room for dinner at 6:30p. Since my plane was delayed the night before and I chose sleep over my morning run, plus my social battery was running low and I'm not drinking alcohol at the moment, I took that 90 minutes to do 4 miles on the treadmill, relax in my room for a moment, before showering and returning for dinner.
I survived dinner, sat down at a table where I recognized a few faces from the day, did my best to make small talk. But most had been drinking and were in a slightly different mood than me. I know this isn't true, but they all seemed to know each other and work with each other, I felt like an outsider, this is just how I am.
And it started to dawn on me that many of these people are a level above me, many of them my age and younger, so my ego gets bruised a bit. But I'm down at a satellite office with fewer opportunities than corporate, and maybe I just don't work hard and network hard enough. But I'm trying to change that.
The person sitting next to me was probably 10 years younger than me, and it through our conversation, I realized he was the person that beat me out for a promotion I interviewed for back in the fall. Again, I was an outsider to that org, he wasn't, he's probably great, but it's still an ego hit. I spend the rest of the dinner talking to a few others that were nice enough, maybe I made a decent enough impression, who knows.
Need to rally to get through two more days of this.

Maersk preparing to resume shipping through Red Sea

Danish shipping giant Maersk has said it is preparing to resume shipping operations through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
The move follows the deployment of an international military operation to prevent attacks on commercial ships by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
Several firms have paused shipments via the Red Sea following the attacks.
German shipping firm Hapag-Lloyd has said it will decide on Wednesday whether to resume using the route.
The Red Sea is one of the world’s most important routes for oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, as well as for consumer goods.
It is bookended by the Bab al-Mandab Strait – also known as the Gate of Tears – in the south near the coast of Yemen and the Suez Canal in the north.
Houthis have declared their backing for Hamas in its war with the Israelis, and the rebels based in Yemen have said they are targeting vessels which they believe are heading for Israel. Some ships have come under attack from drones and rockets.
The alternative route, around the Cape of Good Hope, adds about 3,500 nautical miles to the journey. This has led to fears of disruption to the supply of goods transported through the Suez Canal, and an increase in prices to cover the higher transport costs.
What do Red Sea assaults mean for global trade?
The news that shipping companies were avoiding the Red Sea route led the US to launch an international naval operation – named Operation Prosperity Guardian – to protect ships.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Maersk said that with this initiative under way, “we are preparing to allow for vessels to resume transit through the Red Sea both eastbound and westbound”.
“We are currently working on plans for the first vessels to make the transit and for this to happen as soon as operationally possible.”
However, the world’s second largest shipping company added that although security measures had been put in place, “the overall risk in the area is not eliminated at this stage”.
“Maersk will not hesitate to re-evaluate the situation and once again initiate diversion plans if we deem it necessary for the safety of our seafarers,” it said.
Other shipping giants including Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd have also been avoiding the Red Sea route because of the increased threat of attacks.
On Tuesday, Hapag-Lloyd said it would re-assess the situation in the Red Sea on Wednesday before deciding how to proceed.
Last week, the company had said it would redirect 25 ships by the end of the year.

Earlier this morning, the U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority approved Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Ubisoft’s xDefiant is in hot water yet once more, according to the developer itself. After it failed to pass certification earlier this year, xDefiant has been indefinitely delayed.
Executive game director Mark Rubin recently took to Twitter to announce that the developers “have identified some things that brought us to the decision to take some extra time to fix or improve the experience for everyone.” The xDefiant team identified some key pieces of feedback collected from the game’s recent public test beta, and Rubin’s post explains that it’s going to take a bit to execute it.

PlayStation 5 Cloud Streaming Arrives This Month For Premium Users

If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, you’re getting a new perk in the ability to stream select native PS5 games starting this month. Cloud streaming will be available for supported titles within the PS Plus Game Catalog, game trials, and personal user libraries.
The PlayStation Blog post details the select PS5 titles that support the feature include Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon: Forbidden West, Mortal Kombat 11, and Saints Row IV. Additionally, you can stream game trials for Hogwarts Legacy, The Calisto Protocol, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, to name some. DLC and add-ons will also be available to stream.

Disney reportedly looking to acquire major publisher like EA
Disney is reportedly looking to acquire Electronic Arts or a company of a similar scale as a way back into games publishing.
As reported by Bloomberg, some Disney executives have allegedly suggested that CEO Bob Iger could transform the company from a gaming licensee to publisher by acquiring EA. Iger is reportedly "noncommittal" about the potential acquisition.

Team17 layoffs could hit one-third of company
Team17's restructuring could end with the publisher laying off one-third of its employees, according to Eurogamer.
The outlet said the formal consultation for the cuts is expected to conclude next month, with up to 91 people's jobs at risk in the process.
Eurogamer had previously reported Team17 was planning to unload more than half of its QA staff, with up to 50 roles at risk.
Team17 also confirmed a round of layoffs earlier this year as part of "a re-alignment of elements within its studio operating business model."
Today's report added that the cuts are also expected to include parts of the publisher's marketing, usability, customer service, IT and HR teams.
