War and Wings: Truth or Dare

So, this piece is, like, three years in the making.  I started working on the lineart while I still lived in Texas, and really didn't knuckle down to work on it until last year.  I've been busy lately, so I've only been able to work on it a few hours at a time.  And since digital art isn't my strong-suit, it took a LOT of hours.  Way too many to count.

This deviation is a scene from the first chapter of an old Transformers Prime fanfiction I wrote back in the early 10's.  Team Prime is playing truth or dare with their human partners.  Their fun annoys Ratchet, whom is working on his nerdy science stuff (AKA synthetic energon).  Rafael rolls a nat 20 on his charisma check to convince Ratchet that they'll leave him alone...so long as he plays a few rounds with him.  Ratchet has no idea what he's getting into.

One of the things that will irk me to no end with it comes to RID'15, is the way the Jasper trio got benched SO hard, even when references were thrown to TFP all the time.

Like, when Soundwave popped in, I screamed and hoped so badly for flashback when Bee name dropped the trio, but nope, all ignored.

And when they outright went to Jasper, to the original outpost that was blown up, I'd hoped maybe more mention of the kids, be it in flashback, ghost images [ you know the type, where the character is recalling memories and sees things around them?], or even remnants of their previous times there, old toy cars from Raf, music instruments from Miko, drawings.

Most egregious in my opinion is when they found Bee's holo diary, and it was just...an 80's work out video? That made 0 sense

Imagine if it had been a picture of Team Prime from back in the day, or even a video of Bee with the kids, showing the old dynamic to compare to the current new one he has.

To show the past is gone and remembered fondly, the present is now to make new memories.

I have a LOT of feelings about RID and it's failures as you can see.

I very much loved the idea and concept of Miko comparing Energy Drinks to the Synth-en/ Synthetic Energon !

I wanted to have fun and tested the waters of “mixing”IDW style (aka the nose) with a TFP design 🤔

After two separate days of creating everything for this "made for fun" post, it's finally finished.

This was inspired by a scene near the climax to Deadpool & Wolverine, but of course, I won't spoil anything since I have friends who haven't seen the movie yet.

Anyway, aside from Danny as Wolverine and Jenny as Deadpool, I chose six specific characters for the others. Each character took random hours depending on the designs and details.

Before the characters, I made the Tech Van from Glitch Techs as their transportation.

For the Void, I went with Shirley's pocket dimension that was RetroDimmsdaleVille in Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 3: The Jerkinators! like in my last one.

The shadows were made with PhotoLayers and Image Warp.

After everything was done, I used Free Online Image Editor to put it all together, additional parts tweaked on MS Paint. It was finished just last night on Sunday.

Overall, this was long overdue, but one I wanted to make out of my strong interest in Nicktoons and Marvel. I honestly thought I could finish it before The Simpsons' 36th season started (long story, don't ask), but was I occupied with chores and tasks around the house.

I’ve just thought about this while writing about another head canon about tfp Optimus.

Optimus used to have sparklings of his own during the war ( sparklings which lost their parent, or were abandoned / left for dead.) the sparklings meant EVERYTHING to him.

Though, during the exodus, the soldiers left the sparklings behind WITHOUT Optimus’ consent. He went ballistic. Leaving the future generation behind. HIS SPARKLINGS. Ratchet had to put him under anesthesia to calm him.

Optimus shut everyone out for a few months, but eventually just stopped… feeling. He knew war was cruel, and resources were running low.

There was no choice.

He became more of a dead mech as time passed by. He became numb by the second. That was until, he met the human children.

When Optimus was introduced to Jack, Miko and Raf he instantly clicked with them. They were so small, and fragile, and- HOW DID THEY EVEN SURVIVE?!?

 Optimus just instantly adopted them without any hesitation, and the children didn’t even mind that a million year old robot adopted them, they’re just chill about it.

June and Fowler were somewhat concerned about this, but they passed it aside since it seemed the children didn’t have any problems with it. (Though, June isn’t having any of it and did talk to Optimus about it rather rudely, which caused a huge argument between them.) June and Optimus aren’t in good relations with each other. (Whenever they see each other, June brings it up and they both have a quarrel until someone stops them. Mainly Ratchet has to deal with it.

The team is somewhat happy to see the prime more lively and happy. Though they are quite concerned about Him and June’s relationship.

Ratchet is just happy to see Optimus so lively again after the devastation during the Exodus. Though, It’s quite annoying when he has to be the one to stop their argument. It stops him doing anything productive.

And they’re LOUD.

The children are NOT a fan of the argument, but they love Optimus just like a dad and June isn’t going to take this away from them. Jack loves his mother, but wished she would just hear him out instead of going full rampage on him.

That’s just it lol.

Because I got the scene stuck in my head, Bumblebee and Raf are transporting the newspark found in the Esquivel home.

"Bumblebee," Raf said, voice small and shaky over the cell. "There's a baby bot in my house."

Raf held onto the squirming bundle of baby robot since it rocked and flailed all over the place. It didn’t like being placed into the Urbana's backseat. It tried to roll over as seatbelts coiled over its body, but it wailed and Raf could vaguely hear glass shattering in the distance. He climbed inside and tucked himself against it, allowing it to paw into his clothes and chew on his sweater vest. Eventually, Raf managed to sit up and have the baby sprawl over him.

Raf expected the heaviness, legs going numb under the weight of the head and torso, but not the softness. Unlike Bumblebee's solid heft, this one was… surprisingly squishy. Its metal body was firm enough to grip and retain a bipedal, infant-like shape but his fingers left slight indents on the metallic… skin.

Really, he didn't know a better word. It felt bizarrely similar to skin and completely unlike the plating from the Autobots. He watched it with queasy fascination ripple and reset its pristine look.

It also ran far hotter. Even with the AC at full blast, Raf felt sweaty from the outpour of heat through the blanket. His hands tingled from the buzzing skin, and with the physical contact, Raf could swear the baby was vibrating under the whimpers and squeaky chirps.

He was also aware that Bumblebee was destroying the local speed limits with every mile. The long stretch of road to the base became an endless blur of desert and sunlight, especially with Ratchet's increasingly aggravated rebukes on why the scout was causing road hazards.

"It's okay, little guy." He whispered, hoping that someone would tell him whether or not it was a guy or a girl or whatever Cybertronians used when they reached the base. It clicked, sightless optics loudly shuttering and Raf realized, this up close and personal, that it was covered in a thick film before the face tried to bury into his chest, mouthing at several buttons through the chest. "We're gonna get you help. Ratchet's the best."

Could robots be blind, he thought, what could even cause blindness without actual damage?

He swung an arm to curl around its back, stroking and rubbing, and there was a small hiccup, air hissing, and it began to purr.

Luckily, nothing else barricaded their way to the hideout. The few minutes to enter and clear the driveway was the longest in his life.

Ratchet, beyond irritated, had dropped English and turned to his native tongue. Cybertronian, to Raf's ears, was a storm of electronic noise: fast warbles, sharp clicks, buzzing, and trills along with shrill, high-frequency notes that made him wince.

Hold on, Raf chirped Bumblebee. And even with the warning, nothing could prepare him for the sudden jerk up and forward into a furious tempest of mechanical parts within a discordant blast of strange frequencies.

He groaned in Bumblebee's arms, not trusting his lunch to stay inside his stomach if he opened his mouth at the shocked expression of the Autobot medic -words dead with a slack jaw and almost owl-like optics staring unblinkingly. He shakingly corrected his skewed glasses and tried to get comfortable as the baby relatched itself again on his clothes, creating new wet stains.

Once his nausea subsided, he smiled at Ratchet. "We're back and we found something!"

I recently noticed a detail in tfp that's so freaking iconic I'm gonna blast into orbit. I mean, I guess it's kinda obvious, and I'm just massively stupid for having not noticed (after watching every episode, like, 4,000 times, no less) but I wanna share anyway, because it's so freaking funny, and it wasn't obvious to me, ok?😂 (because I wasn't paying attention LOL).

Ok so, you know how, in "Metal Attraction", Bulkhead and Arcee have this exchange:

Arcee: "I always take point!"

Bulkhead: "Yeah, but Miko likes to sit in front where she can see."

Then Bulkhead keeps walking, and Arcee's like:

Arcee: "No matter where I turn, I'm the third wheel🙄."

And she's all mad because Miko gets to be in front instead of her?

Ok, so, right after that conversation, there's this really wide shot of them walking through the desert, and I always just thought: "Oh, that's pretty scenery. Pretty rock canyon," and thought nothing of it/didn't really look that closely.

But recently, I realized, during that shot, you can see Arcee friggin SPRINTING ahead of Bulkhead to get back in front. And then, in the next shot, she's walking ahead.

MY GIRL IS SO PETTY she basically said: "Screw you Miko I wanna be in front" and ran ahead anyway, despite Bulkhead saying: "Miko likes to be in front." LOOOOOL PETTY ARCEE FOR THE WIN✨✨✨✨💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻
