Every time this comes around I think of the original Reboot where the Broadcasting Standards and Practices (BS&P as we called it then) told the showrunners that they couldn’t have Dot kiss her ten-year old brother on the cheek at his talent-show birthday party because audiences might consider it ‘incestuous,’ and the one director said ‘that said way more about the people at S&P then it did about our children’s television show.’ So they re-wrote the episode to have a killjoy S&P official watch the auditions for the talent show and reject absolutely everything as potentially inappropriate except a parody of The Village People’s YMCA called BS&P. (In case that doesn’t embed with the right timecode, jump ahead to 11:43.)

Many of you are probably too young to remember Reboot, the first CGI animated show, and thus aren’t familiar with one of television’s truly unappreciated masterpieces. My nostalgia aside, I feel confident in saying that the later-half of season 2 and the entirety of the third season can easily compete with the best children’s television of modern times.)
