WIP for an X reader Royal AU thingie...
A long time ago, there was a legend about a creature thought to be a legend by those who have never seen it with their own eyes, a creature able to shapeshift to human form or halfway if they so wish. They had lived below the clouds among the humans before they were forced to retreat to the mountains above.
No one had seen them since then.
Among the legends of the Yetis, there is also a tale of romance taboo to most eyes of humanity, a bond deemed forbidden and treacherous by those believing in seeing only the flaws of those different from the normal that grew into something more.
A fully-formed Yeti…and another, made from either side of species.
Half human, half Yeti.
The half-breeds were made due to connections between a few Yetis and humans together, unable to break away because of their feelings being found and bringing them together. However, when the half-breeds were discovered, those who had bonded were destroyed or imprisoned for their treason against their kind, and the newborns were killed off, left for dead.
A pair had survived longer than the ones who were killed off, longer before they were found and murdered as well.
No one knew how this bond started, but all they knew was that it had been going on since winter’s solstice. They had met by chance, possibly from a deal that was made; supposedly for them to meet their unknown respective spouses upon arrival at one’s land.
One day, their bond was forcefully broken, not by their choice, but by hatred, fear, and bigotry. No one knew who or what had killed them together; the mystery remains.
However, the legend states that one day, their souls will be reincarnated into another soul…
…and the bond that was once made will be restored once more.

All I See Is Perfection | Migo x Half-Yeti!Fem!Reader [Royal AU] - Prologue

It had been years since Yetis were last seen, since they retreated behind the snowy mountains that reside near the human villages.
Yetis are taller than the humans, but look almost human, nonetheless; albeit with horns on either side of their heads. Most of them are in cool colors, others in lighter shades, in hair and any sign of facial hair. They wore clothing that was nearly similar to their ancestors, but with time coming and going, their fabrics blossomed to look more like humanity’s.
The ancestors of the Yeti who had become leaders the moment they were safe again divided their people into empires; yet their kind remained close and bonded, unable to break away. They formed a large, circular wall outside their kingdoms on a far-off island they had found as they lived on the highest mountain they could find. For decades, no one ever stepped on their homelands, not since the humans first attacked them with spears, arrows, guns, since they first attacked them with fear, hatred, and cowardice when the Yetis only greeted them with wonder and peace.
As decades passed, turning into thousands of generations, the Yetis became a myth, a folktale amongst the people, nothing more. Stories–false tales and nothing but filled with lies and deception–spread across the villages, towns, cities of the humanity of society, never dying down, never once stopping to take a breath for another minute. No one ever bothered to stop and think whether the stories given to them were true or false, whether the Yetis never attacked or never even killed, for that matter. All they ever knew was that some Yetis had once lived among their people, lived in the very ground with their ancestors.
While Yetis had rebuilt their society far away from the humans on their island, the humans rebuilt their kingdoms and homes. None of humanity knew what Yetis’ homes would like; some guessed that it would be almost like theirs; others assumed it would be caverns, layered with riches and artifacts they had stolen as they had washed up on their island’s shorelines.
Regardless, while humans still believe Yetis to be nothing more than just a myth, they had no idea that the creatures themselves…they thought of humanity as legends as well.
But that fateful day…
Things will change.
One of the Yeti kingdoms had been friends with the descendants of the past Yeti leaders since then, namely with the Stonekeeper Malosi. Since their young adulthood, they had been partners, acquaintances. Even their children had become buddies thanks to their meetings and political talks.
Dorgle knows how huge the responsibilities of a king can be, especially with his two children growing older and more independent by the day, yet they always know when to go to him for advice on anything they need. He had been making sure his oldest child, his only son, would understand the responsibilities of being a ruler to their people as well as retain the close bonds with the other Yeti kingdoms. It was also his concern that his only daughter, the girl he had grown to love as his own, knew how to keep close to her brother and make sure he kept his head high and proud. As a single father, a man with a height of 5’8 and a whole body of resilience and support who had lost his wife barely eighteen years ago, he knows how challenging life can be for his children, so he wanted to make sure they know how to take it all head-on.
That is until Malo called him and his family over for an urgent matter one day.
“Stonekeeper, what is all this?” Aaliyahor Alli, as she prefers to be called–confusedly questioned as she and her brother watched the Stonekeeper spread out documents on the table.
None of the Yetis knew about how she ended up on the island twenty years ago, how an innocent Phoenix, a small baby girl with curls of beautiful auburn and teary eyes of the clear blue skies, floated to the shoreline wrapped in the softest blankets in a basket woven by the Phoenixes as the waves gently guided her to Dorgle’s late wife. All they knew is, as strange as it may be, the little one had lost so much from a tragedy—possibly from being abandoned after being born from an unwanted pregnancy or perhaps losing her people to a horrific rampage—and doesn't deserve to be left alone to perish. Dorgle and his wife, Maya, had taken her in upon coming across her at the shorelines and raised her as their own child without question. She had been and will always be one of the most beautiful people anyone will ever lay eyes on, with her shoulder-length, curled reddish-brown locks that flowed in the winds as she rode on her horse across the woods and the paths that wouldn’t lead into the village below; and sky-blue eyes that shone underneath the sun, sparkling like diamonds priceless to even escape from. Though she is of royalty, as she always had been for twenty-two years, she also fights to protect her family and people from any potential danger, despite the island being closed off for decades. She had only known about how she came to be and how she had gotten to the island as a baby; her father and brother had told her the truth of her heritage when she was in her late teens and Migo was only in his mid-20s. However, she never knew about how the Yetis truly came to be and how Smallfoot–humans, as the Yetis would call them–were never legends, just living far from their haven.
Her older brother, the soon-to-be king of their empire, has been known to be nearly the exact copy of their father; seven feet tall, with snow-as-white hair, a faint goatee on his chin, and multicolored eyes like Dorgle. The only flaw that neither she, Dorgle, or anyone they had known ever saw as a deficiency was his horns; one side had been broken when he was only a child from a bullying incident, leaving it bent and with a cracked end that barely stopped by a couple of inches. He is almost as built as the Stonekeeper’s only son, yet he is shorter than him by an inch below a foot. Migo was set to be the new king in two months, barely around the time the future marriage he and his family would be told was set to occur. Having lost his and Alli’s mother–not blood-related to Alli, but still her mother nonetheless–at a young age, Dorgle did what he could to raise his son to be a brave, honest man, just as he had taught Alli always to be true to herself, yet always remember where her heart lies. It would be surprising to hear that his kingdom stepped in to help raise their children, regardless of where his youngest daughter came from or how she had ended up on the island. From that day forward, Migo would lead the kingdom with a stand-proud pose and use his combat and political skills to keep his people safe. Of course, 'always be true' wasn't the only lesson, aside from royalty, that his father taught him himself. He also has standards of treating and respecting women as human beings and not objects.
Malo glanced at the two and gave a small, yet uncertain smile. He sighed after a moment of hesitation. “...Do you remember the stories about how we Yetis came to be, how we found this island?”
Dorgle was just as confused as his two children as they looked at one another as if hoping that one would have the answer to the question they all had.
“Stonekeeper, you have to tell us what it is that you are talking about,” Migo added next.
“I think it’s time I tell you both the truth,” Malo only said to them. He then pulled out a large booklet from his side of where he sat and rested it on the table on top of the documents. Some of the documents described the layouts of the island and the five Yeti empires, the maps that showed the paths that would lead a traveler to one kingdom, from there to another; some of them ranged from being under to over an hour long. Other documents described finances of the Yeti domain, medical records and how it had been handled before Migo would take over one day. The rest were letters from the rest of the Yeti kingdoms, but the two royals didn’t question about what they were about, only when it seemed important. When they did question it, Dorgle would reply as honestly as he could or wouldn’t answer them, just gave them looks that encouraged them to not question it further until he was ready to tell them.
The moment Alli opened it, the two and their father gasped astonished at the long pages of the booklet. The drawings were similar to the stone drawings they had seen on their outside village and castle walls, as well as the other four Yeti kingdoms when they traveled there. However, there was something different; people, humans holding weapons and chasing Yetis.
A sense of dread filled his heart. “What is all this?”
“There was a time when our ancestors lived with Smallfeet,” Malo explained to the siblings and Dorgle. “Alive and thriving…until they came across the humans. But then…there were actions we couldn’t forgive.”
Alli’s eyes looked away from the pages to face the Stonekeeper. “What do you mean?” Her voice shook slightly.
“While our ancestors approached the Smallfeet with wonder…they were attacked in return,” he answered her, growing solemnly. “They attacked with spears, guns, arrows. Called us monsters, Abominable, Sasquatch, abominations. Our people were chased, pursued, tried to hurt us.”
Migo sensed his little sister’s heartbreak near him and clasped her hand, squeezing it to steady her. Even then, he didn’t turn his eyes off the pages. Dorgle rubbed Alli’s arm as he took in the truth that had been hidden from his family for so long.
“We were left with no other option. We had to hide,” Malo continued. “We handcrafted boats of our own, though we never swam in waters before. There was a chance we could’ve drowned, but we took it, already desperate to save ourselves from a potential genocide.”
“And so…that’s how you found this island?” Migo asked.
“It is,” Malo nodded with a solemn frown, barely managing to hide the pain from his eyes. “And the mountain here would be our only hope if anything happened to our kingdoms, that’s where Smallfeet cannot survive. And that’s when the first law was born: ‘Our island is the only land, hidden by a sea of endless clouds. But then the more laws we wrote, the better chance we had of protecting our people.”
Alli could barely hold back her sadness as she studied some humans driving a few innocent Yetis to the edge of a cliff, sending them tumbling to their deaths. Dorgle had the same expression as her as he took in the image of a Yeti being shot by a hunter Smallfoot.
Migo, however, noticed an image of a particular human. They didn’t look like the other Smallfeet, not because of the hats or weapons…but because they had horns and teeth like the Yetis, only a bit shorter than them by a couple of feet. “What about this?” He asked, motioning to the figure.
Malo could tell there was no chance of leaving it unanswered, even when he was now telling the truth, so he answered. “There were a few Smallfeet who were not afraid of our ancestors, rather amazed. They saw past their flaws, the things that made them appear as monsters, and grew close. With a few of our people on either side, one thing led to another…”
“What were they called?” Dorgle was the next to ask, not wanting his children to bear the weight of the answer that would come.
“...they were called ‘Makino’.”
Migo and Alli studied the figure more, though they left some room for their father so he could see as well. “But they got killed as well?” Alli asked, gravely worried for the half-Smallfeet.
“They were,” Malo confirmed. “They were left for dead, and their parents were deemed as traitors, devils, and were imprisoned or killed as well.”
Migo was the most horrified out of his family. He had no idea how dangerous Smallfeet could be, especially when it was clear there was a chance they were no longer myths. And the innocent makinos being killed off just because they were born due to their parents’ interspecies intercourse made his heart plummet further down to his stomach. He didn’t know what to say at the moment, he was still processing the truth being laid out to him.
“I have a feeling there is something else you want to tell us,” Alli spoke up for her brother, her hand now squeezing his own to keep him grounded.
Without a word, Malo nodded before pulling out another booklet and opening it for the three to see. What they saw next helped put the pieces together.
Documents of what looked like machines were laid out on pages. With each flip of a page, they were met with more pages of the mechanics of the devices: a large fan that teleports the clouds out from hot coals; a large platform that would lead them past the pumping devices and towards the fan; a large hole that was bored out of the mountain sending steam through the fan; and a rounding slide that would transport the ice that had been picked at, shaved, and molded into a smooth ball and onto the hot coals.
Migo and Alli understood. “The clouds…are all steam?”
Malo nodded solemnly and regretfully. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you all the truth sooner.”
The three took a moment to take in everything hidden from them for so long. “Look, I’m sorry, I still don’t understand. Do you mind telling us what you really brought us down here for?” Migo broke the tense silence, wanting to get to the source of the subject.
Malo nodded in reply as he helped Alli put away the documents and booklets. “Though there had been Yetis who could get to the island for years, a few others were trapped there, unintentionally left behind in our haste to get to safety, so they had to hide somewhere else. Somewhere no one will get them.”
“And you have no idea where they are now?” Alli received a shake of the head from the Stonekeeper.
Migo was in disbelief more than his sister or father. He had no idea how many Smallfeet had or are now existing in the world, no idea how many lives of Yetis had been lost. He had no idea about any of the Makinos at all. It was becoming harder to process everything that is sinking in right now.
“So…you’re saying none of the stones are true? They’re all lies?”
Malo understood Migo’s incredulity with a simple nod. “As terrible as they are, they are needed to protect our people.”
Unlike her brother, Alli could sense anger brewing within her, but she held it back for his and their father’s sake. “How long until the truth comes out, even by accident? I mean, someone’s going to figure this out, one way or another! We can’t just keep it all in for much longer!” She would have blown up on the Stonekeeper if her father wasn’t around to pull her back down on her seat tenderly.
“Alli! Listen to me! I understand your frustration on this and believe me, I’m trapped in shock, too, but we can’t go overboard with this,” he sternly told her.
“No, she’s not wrong,” Malo interjected. “The truth will come out, no matter how much we try to keep it in. There will be bits and pieces of it that will be revealed each day, and the best we can do is just answer them the best we can instead of pushing them down. As leaders, it’s our job to listen to and hear them.”
“So what do you want me to do?” Migo asked uncertainly.
“Hear them and listen to their voices,” Malo told him. “They will need your honesty and wisdom when you take your father’s place on the throne.”
“But what if they don’t believe me? They’ve already seen the stones.”
Malo only got up from his seat and patted him on the shoulder once he was close enough to him. “You’ll be surprised at what they’ll believe. Knowledge is power, that’s what everyone thinks. The real question is…what are you going to do with that power?”
Migo and his family have no answer to that. All they know is whatever choices they make in the future–the choices that will involve their people and loved ones–will be difficult, yet simple.
You have no idea what had happened. It was all happening so fast.
One moment you were with a few of the maids in the library and putting back the books, and the next, you were forcibly dragged off to somewhere with your guardian threatening you and making orders to their daughter’s ladies-in-waiting without even letting you have a single word spoken from your mouth.
You could barely keep up the pace with your stepmother holding you harshly by the arm, even as your feet managed to touch the ground before being dragged across by force again. You couldn't even ask what was happening, since your stepmother either ignored your words or demanded you keep quiet. Your heart beat faster against your chest from the fear of something worse than what was going to meet you, so you did as she was told as she continued to drag you forcefully by the arm down the hallway.
It didn't take long for you and your stepmother to reach your stepfather’s office, and before you knew it, he was already declaring that you were to take their daughter’s place to marry the only son of one of those kingdoms. You had asked about what kingdom, but he had only told you a kingdom that was not part of their land before he returned to cite the expectations that would occur on you.
It was there you had discovered that the princess, the only heir of your guardians’ kingdom, had run away a couple of days before she was to travel to that mysterious kingdom. To be honest, that never shocked you. She has been spoiled and unkind since she was a kid, maybe years before the royal family had taken you out of obligation. And to be fair, being married off to some strange royal is the last thing she ever wanted to happen in her life. You had always taken the brunt of her tantrums ever since she was told the news, which you had no idea about until now, behind the doors of the king’s office. And when she was given the announcement of an arranged marriage with a prince, she was as wild as an undomesticated boar. She had done everything she could to undo the arrangement, but her parents were relentless and headstrong in keeping this agreement alive. Other than this reason, you have no idea why they were persistent about this contract.
On the one hand, you sympathize with the princess. It would be unfair to be in her shoes–unfortunately now–to be married off without having your voice heard or even having talked about this before they went ahead with it. This is not what you wanted to wish on anyone. All the same, there is another reason why the King and Queen wanted you to marry that future king so desperately.
The kingdom had a huge debt with one of those mysterious empires that needed to be paid. Luckily, for them but not you, the prince’s father, the ruler of one of the domains, had promised a solution: a fair maiden's hand in marriage to his only son in exchange for the debt and other loans being paid off for good.
It was not exactly ideal, but there was no other option. The kingdom here and those involved had already lost so much money. And besides, if they did leave, there was a good chance they could get caught and punished severely.
It was too good of an opportunity to deny. And unfortunately for you, they didn't need to look far for a perfect maiden to give away.
Hours later, they had quickly packed away any belongings you had, donned you in a dress that would hide your frame and face completely, and kept you in a tight hold to prevent you from escaping as they made sure you were in one-way transportation for a day's travel to one of the mysterious kingdoms.
Despite your sobbing pleas and the heartbroken expression in your (E/C) eyes, your guardians had been eager to save themselves from a conceivable sentence and to be rid of you as well.
You hated how life treated you because of something out of your control.
You hated how people despised you simply because of differences that don't even add up. You hated how you had been looked down upon, tossed into the mud, and finally locked up because they wouldn't risk their reputation being ruined. You hated how you were just treated as a monster, an object, something that doesn't deserve happiness or freedom, simply because you were born with strange DNA genes you inherited from your mother.
To say that being married to the love of your life should be the happiest time of your years is an understatement. Being in an arranged marriage to someone you barely even know or don't even love is a bit worse than being treated like a monster.
Why?
To answer that, you were a half-Yeti, due to your mother being a Yeti herself, able to switch to human form.
After she had married your father, a human, she got cut off and excommunicated by her family simply because she wanted to be with someone for genuine love and not for status or wealth. It's fine by her, in her eyes, anyway. She hadn't spoken to them for years, even after your birth, which is a good thing, given that they'd give anything, including you if they ever found out about your existence, to get into the higher ranks of status.
Although your parents had given you all the love and acceptance regardless of the DNA genes you inherited from your mother, it didn't help or protect you from a few harsh words from the village your father had lived in. Some adults saw you as an abomination because of your horns and teeth, but the kids were far worse. They made fun of your looks, your height (you were a bit taller than them due to being...well, a Yeti on one side), they even nearly made you hate yourself at one point.
Nevertheless, life with your parents was uneventful. You spent your days reading, learning more about the world far beyond the small village, and educating yourself on topics your school wouldn't let girls learn simply because they believed women should be housewives and obedient servants to their husbands.
Life was peaceful.
That is until that one night.
There was a raid that night. It all happened so fast.
The only thing you knew was how your parents had died fighting to keep you safe and hidden from the raiders. By the time you had come out from the hidden compartment they had concealed you in, you had been met with the fallen remains of the village, lifeless bodies of those who had either mistreated or loved you unconditionally laid across the burned ground…and your beloved parents laying dead on the earth, their hands intertwined as if they would rather die for their love than for anything else in the world.
For what seemed like hours, you mourned your parents and a few of the lost villagers who had shown respect and kindness to you throughout your years, recovered any beloved possession that wasn’t destroyed or lost during the ambush from the ruined house that you and your small family had built and grown up in. For what seemed like hours, you had no idea where you would go, but you knew you would have to keep moving.
That’s when the guards of the monarchs, who had currently shoved you forcefully on a ship that would take you to your “betrothed”’s homeland, had come across you. Amongst the fallen village, you were the only one who had survived. Not only that, but you look different than they do. (Horn Color) wavy horns on each side of your head; aside from that, a unique (Hair Length) (Hair Color) that shone under the rising sun. They had found you while they were scouting for any potential survivors, and seeing only you among the fallen took you back to their rulers, who took you in to increase their appearances.
This was only the beginning of the next twenty years of hell.
To make matters worse and harder for you, their only daughter, spoiled and unkind, aforementioned, like her parents, the moment you were made to be her personal servant made it her life’s mission to make your life a living hell; destroying anything that reminds you of the happy moments you shared with your beloved parents, tearing you down, constantly trying to ruin your self-esteem, anything that would help her feel as if she is superior to you.
Since then, happy moments have been just a rare thing in your private quarters. Aside from the faint memories of your beloved parents, you had some books, a couple of journals, both of them the only things that kept you from doing something worse to yourself; though you made sure to keep them hidden from the princess so she wouldn’t destroy them as well.
When you were told she had run away, you were mad at her for destroying any chance the empire had left to save themselves. Now you were internally furious at her running away for putting you in this position.
As of this moment, you were now sailing across the waters on the royal ship taking you to your “betrothed”'s homeland as words from your guardians rang in your ears.
“You will take her place," the king strictly told you.
“What?!” You nearly gasped. “But your Majesties–”
"You know her better than anyone," his wife interrupted you. “And you've attended all her study sessions. There is no one else. We cannot have this secret getting out.”
“No one must know she is gone. Luckily you are replaceable. No one will even blink when you are gone, it's perfect."
"The choice is easy, dear. You will take her place, or you will face something far worse."
Oh, Gods. What are you supposed to do now?

The party was in full swing, with music booming and laughter echoing through every corner of the frat house. Red cups were scattered across tables, and the place was crowded, the air filled with the energy of people letting loose. Rafe was in his element, the charismatic center of it all, playing the role of frat president to perfection as he laughed with his brothers and kept a watchful eye on the pledges.
You wandered through the crowd, occasionally glancing at Rafe, who seemed to command the entire room with his cocky grin and confident stance. As you made your way around, you ended up talking with Jamie, one of the new pledges, who seemed a bit overwhelmed by the night’s intensity.
He held his drink a little awkwardly, but his shy smile was endearing, and he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know you. “So, what’s it like dating Rafe Cameron?” Jamie asked, scratching the back of his neck with a sheepish smile. “He’s got… quite the reputation.”
You laughed, raising an eyebrow as you glanced over at Rafe, who was engrossed in a conversation with a couple of his frat brothers across the room. “You make it sound like he’s some kind of terrifying figure,” you teased, rolling your eyes.
Jamie chuckled, though he looked a bit nervous. “Well, he kind of is. I mean, he’s intense. People talk about him like he’s not someone you want to mess with.” Smiling, you shrugged. “Rafe can be a bit… possessive. But he’s not as scary as he seems. He just cares about the house and the people close to him. You’ll get used to him once you’re around him more.”
Jamie nodded, though he still looked a little unsure. “I hope so. He definitely seems… protective.” “He is,” you said, grinning. “But as long as you’re not on his bad side, you’ll be fine.” Just as Jamie was about to respond, you felt a familiar warmth against your back as Rafe slipped his arm around your waist, pulling you close.
He didn’t even look at you—his gaze was fixed on Jamie, his eyes cool and calculating despite the friendly smirk on his face. “Hey, babe,” Rafe murmured, his tone casual, but you could sense the edge in his voice. His attention didn’t waver from Jamie. “Who’s this?” “This is Jamie, one of the new pledges,” you explained, keeping your voice light.
“We were just talking.” “Talking, huh?” Rafe’s arm tightened around you, his fingers pressing into your hip as his gaze swept over Jamie. “Talking about what?” Jamie looked a bit flustered, shifting awkwardly. “I… uh, I was just asking about her classes. And, um… about you, actually,” he admitted, his voice quieter. “You’ve got quite a reputation.”
Rafe’s smirk sharpened, a glint of amusement mixed with challenge in his eyes. “Is that so?” He glanced at you briefly, raising an eyebrow, then looked back at Jamie. “Well, Jamie, reputation or not, this one’s taken.” Jamie chuckled nervously, nodding. “Of course. I, uh… I’ll just go check in with the other brothers.”
He glanced at you, managing a quick smile before practically retreating into the crowd. As Jamie disappeared, you turned to Rafe, giving him a look before walking off, him right beside you. “Rafe, he was just being nice.” Rafe shrugged, his eyes trailing after Jamie until the pledge disappeared into the crowd.
“Yeah, maybe. But the way he was looking at you? Like he thought he had a shot?” His jaw tensed, and he turned his gaze back to you, that familiar possessive glint lighting up his blue eyes. “That doesn’t sit well with me,” he murmured, his hand slipping lower on your back until it landed with a firm slap on your ass.
You shot him a playful glare, swatting his hand back up to your waist, but your laughter betrayed you. “Oh, you’re jealous, aren’t you?” “Jealous?” Rafe scoffed, though the smirk tugging at his lips said otherwise. “Please. I just don’t like the idea of some new kid thinking he can step in and flirt with you.” His fingers tightened on your hip, as if to punctuate his point.
“Flirt?” you echoed, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow at him. “All we did was talk, Rafe. You really think he was flirting?” Rafe cocked his head, his smirk widening as he stepped closer, the warmth of his body pressing against you. “I know guys, babe. That ‘just talking’ look? That’s him hoping you’d suck him off,”
You rolled your eyes at his possessive streak, but the butterflies in your stomach betrayed you. Despite his bluntness, Rafe’s attention made you feel exhilarated in a way no one else could. “Maybe you’re just overthinking it,” you teased, your tone light. “Not every guy is out to steal your girl, you know.”
Rafe leaned in, his hand gently cradling your jaw, his thumb brushing along your cheek in a way that made your breath hitch. “Yeah,” he murmured, his voice dropping to that low, dangerous tone that made your heart race, “but have you looked at yourself, babe?” You couldn’t help the small chuckle that slipped out, the warmth of his fingers and his intense gaze making you feel giddy.
“You’re impossible, you know that?” He smirked, eyes flicking between yours as if to prove his point. “No one steals what’s mine,” he murmured, the quiet confidence in his voice wrapping around you like a promise. His words sent a thrill down your spine, and for a moment, it felt like the crowded, noisy party faded away, leaving just the two of you in that charged moment.
“Possessive much?” you teased, though your heart raced at his words. “Maybe,” he admitted, his lips quirking up in a wicked smile. “But can you blame me?” His hand slid to the back of your neck, pulling you close until his lips brushed over yours, a gentle but unmistakably claiming kiss.
The sounds of the party disappeared, his attention drowning out everything else. As he pulled away, he kept his forehead pressed against yours, his smirk softening into a smile. “Just keep in mind who you came here with, alright?” “Trust me, I know,” you whispered, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him back into another kiss.

“Ooh, someone had fun,” he giggles from the couch while you stumble into the living room. He knew what to expect the moment he got your texts an hour ago.

okay, will i see you soon?
ya soon we can sex
He laughed at that one, a hearty belly laugh. You’re only like this when you’re wasted. Clawing and snarling like a starved animal at the sight of him, the thought of him.
When you stumble in you’re lucid for the most part but your eyes are glassy with evidence of a good night. He can tell you smoked too, which means you’ll need more ibuprofen than you normally do when you drink.
You drop your purse and jacket next to the door, kicking off your heels by the TV stand. He’ll pick them up later.
“Hi baby,” he smirks coolly while you make your way to him on the couch.
“I had so much fun,” you respond, unbuttoning your jeans and shimmying them off, “But I never wanna wear ‘standing jeans’ again.”
He doesn’t know what you mean by that but he doesn’t ask, just nods, welcoming you with open arms while you straddle his lap. The second your faced dips into his neck he knows your promises of ravaging him are long broken. Your body relaxes, sinking in against his chest.
“I’m glad you had a good night, sweetheart,” he murmurs quietly, hand sliding up and down your back. Your breaths come in slow, he can feel your lashes fluttering against his skin while you force yourself to stay awake.
“Would’ve been funner if you were there,” you say into the crook of his neck.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” you nod, “You make everything fun.”
Eddie’s heart swells, “You think?”
You lean up, looking at him with glassy eyes, more tired than wasted, “I know.”
He leans his head back between the cushions, bangs dusting his eyes, “You make everything fun for me, too.”
You grin, a sloppy one, “You know how I can make tonight really fun?”
Your fingers skate up his chest, sending a shiver through him that stirs in his sweatpants.
“Sweetheart…” he warns gently.
“C’mon,” you whine, tugging at the hem of his t-shirt, “Please.”
“Doll, you’ve been drinkin’,” he reminds, reaching up to cup your cheek, “You know I don’t like playing around like that.”
“I’m not drunk though,” you protest, “I can do the drunk driver test. I swear.”
“By the way you’re falling asleep sitting up, I doubt it,” he laughs. He leans up, supporting you on his thighs while he goes in to plant a loving kiss on your lips, “I think we should head to bed.”
“Lame,” you frown, scrunching your face. You shimmy off his lap and cross your arms, walking down the hall to the bedroom.
“Kissin’ me like that like some kinda Cassanova…” you grumble. He rolls his eyes, getting some water and aspirin for you while you change into some pajamas.
“That’s what the call me. Eddie Casanova Munson,” he grizzles, leaning against the door frame with the glass and pills and hand, “Your libations, princess.”
Your sour look doesn’t fade when you take them, but you to say a quiet thank you when the pills pass your lips.
“Am I not fun anymore?” he teases.
“No, you’re still fun,” you sigh, crawling into bed where he follows. Eddie takes a silent win when you wrap yourself around him after sliding between the sheets.
“I’ll be more fun tomorrow,” he smiles, burying himself in your neck. You feel his warm scratchy chin and shiver, soft kisses following it, “It’s gonna rain.”
“That doesn’t sound very fun,” you murmur, the bed feeling cozier with every passing moment while the alcohol rushes in you for one last sleepy hurrah.
“Yeah it is,” he responds quietly, feeling you grow heavy and slack against him, “We can stay in all day.”
“Boring.”
“Boring huh?” he smirks, “I don’t know, I thought maybe we could revisit your texts.”

I THOUGHT WE HAD SMTH SPECIAL ok i'm done with my lil rage outburst, y'all have fun reading this <3
"what the hell do you think you're doing?!"
"oh please. you're just jealous that i love maya and not you," shuri spat out. you were too upset to deal with the way her comment stung your heart, so you chugged the remainder of your drink and left the booth.
shuri shut her eyes and sighed in annoyance. she regretted her words the instant they left her mouth. she wanted to get up and look for you, but your body was lost in the dancing crowd.
she downed her scotch, still feeling thirsty. shuri was feeling out of sync the entire day. she felt parched, hungry, nauseous, irritated. it wasn't her period, no. it was something else.
she stayed at her seat, drinking shot after shot. one of the downsides to being the black panther was an incredibly fast metabolic rate. in layman terms, she couldn't get drunk that easily.
she stayed at her seat, staring at her hands. thinking of you. missing you. feeling guilty for what she said.
just then, her kimoyo beads buzzed. an SOS message from you. the alcohol instantly evaporated as she saw the alert. shuri got up from her seat, using her panther vision to locate riri at the bar, talking to the waitress who flirted with her earlier.
***
(lil smth for the fight scene)
"what the hell do you think you're doing?!"
you turned from your seat to look at maya, standing at the door frame, looking angry, and a tad bit scared.
"me? what's all this?! who the fuck are you, and why are you here?!"
"that's none of your business."
"excuse me?! oh fuck this. i'm showing shuri all of this, right the fuck now," you waved your phone at her smugly. maya reached ahead for it but you blocked her hand with your other arm, throwing her against the bookshelf, knocking a few heavy books down that hit her on the head. you took that as your chance and made a run for it.
while running, you opened your sling bag and put your phone inside, zipping it up and putting the sling around your shoulder to make sure the phone wouldn't fall down anywhere.
the sound of bullets being fired gave you an extra push to make you run faster. just then, maya switched to a different weapon. it sent a thick string of black slime that got hold of your foot and yanked you down. she then changed the setting to withdraw the slime, pulling your body to her so that she wouldn't have to run after you. she used a weapon that you designed against you. unbelievable. while that was happening, you took off an earring and hurriedly sent an SOS signal to the first contact that popped up, and threw your earring aside.
your body was being violently dragged towards maya, and when you were close enough, she made a move to get your purse. you punched her in the nose and pushed her head aside, giving you enough space to get up and a break for it again. that's when maya drove a knife in your thigh. you yelled in pain, as you tried to move. but maya was one step ahead. she took a white cloth and put it over your mouth. at that point, you realised that fighting against her was futile. in your final moments of consciousness, you took off your bracelet and threw it down before passing out.
maya smirked, proud at herself as she dragged your body to a secluded corner of the floor. drops of blood from your thigh marked her path. a large, potted plant stood there. she kicked it down, and pressed a button on the side, revealing a secret tunnel opening. she carelessly threw your body down the tunnel and gave you a slight push, following you afterwards.
***
"yeah, well, that's how i learned using a blowtorch to reheat a grilled cheese sandwich was a bad idea," riri spoke and the waitress laughed, smiling profusely.
they looked cute together, and shuri hated to interrupt the moment. but if the message wasn't an accident, and your life was actually at stake, then she knew that she had to do something about it.
"riri! i need your help to find y/n,"
"why don't you just track her with those beads?"
"it says she's right at the club, which doesn't make sense because i can't see her anywhere,"
the waitress interrupted their conversation. "if y/n is the type of person to trespass, you might want to check the third floor. she might've gotten too drunk and gone there by accident,"
riri smiled at the woman and thanked her for the suggestion, taking shuri's hand to lead her to the elevator.
"wait a minute, wasn't y/n supposed to be with you the entire time? why'd she leave?"
shuri sighed, angry at herself. she told riri what happened, causing the american to frown at her.
"dude, what the fuck?! that was totally uncalled for. y/n was just tryna help you. and besides, the rejection hurt her already. you didn't need to bring it up again,"
shuri stayed quiet. she knew what she did was wrong. but the constant hammering in her head robbed her of the ability to think properly.
the elevator door opened and they walked around, hoping to find you. the atmosphere was sinister. both women could tell that something bad happened there. riri looked at her friend. "i'll check the right side, you check the lift," shuri nodded silently and walked away, carefully assessing the scene. her feet led her to the very secluded room you found before, and she was more than shocked when she found everything.
the stalker board. the computer with wakanda's security secrets. it was all so overwhelming. what hit her hard was when she saw this one symbol on this piece of paper.
it was at if it put her in some sort of trance. memories flashed through her mind. the symbol was of the french embassy. she remembered seeing it when she first saw maya.
only when maya first introduced herself, she didn't go by that name. she said something else, but shuri couldn't remember. it was as if someone drugged her.
was that possible? was someone brave enough to drug the protector of wakanda? her thoughts were interrupted when she heard riri yell for her.
"shuri! i found something!!"
she ran towards riri's voice, and stopped when she saw the girl hold something in her hands.
"it's y/n's earring. she dropped it. do you think it's some sort of clue?" riri asked. shuri looked at the piece of jewelry to be sure. yes. it was yours. her gaze went down to the drops of blood on the floor, trailing off elsewhere. she gestured to it. riri got the message. both of them silently trailed the path of blood until it stopped and a knocked down plant.
shuri went closer to get a better look, and found the button. slightly hesitant, she pushed it, and the secret door opened up. both women looked at each other.
"you think that's where she went?" riri spoke as she looked around the tunnel.
shuri spotted the black bracelet on the floor and picked it up. "this bracelet belongs to y/n. i bought this for her last year. i think she dropped it on purpose. you were right. she's leaving clues for us,"
"but where does this tunnel lead to?"
the black panther lifted her kimoyo beads up. "griot. scan this opening, please. tell me where it leads to,"
"just one moment, panther," griot stayed quiet for a few seconds. "it appears to lead to a cave, your majesty. it's hidden quite well, deep within the ground. i sense some water bodies nearby. i believe it is somewhere near the river border,"
"okay, well, we're going after her," riri started removing her jewelry, getting ready to fight whoever tried to harm you.
"one moment, miss williams. i believe entering through the same opening may be a foolish choice, as you would land right in front of the enemy. there is another entrance to the cave. but you need to be able to hold your breath to use it."
"griot, do you have access to any security footage here?"
"my apologies, panther, but there are no surveillance cameras here. maya had them removed once she bought club purple,"
shuri groaned in frustration. "alright. send me the coordinates for the second opening. alert okoye and the dora milaje. get them on standby. i'm getting my girl back,"
shuri and riri sped their way back to the palace so that shuri could get her suit. riri changed into a bulletproof tracksuit she made for herself a couple years ago. they couldn't go save you in their club outfits, could they?!
while the royal talon fighter sped its way to the second entrance to the secret tunnel, riri asked her friend what she found on the other side of the hallway.
"maya... that's not her real name. y/n was right. she was using me. there was something off about her. i should've listened. this is all my fault," shuri dragged a hand on her face as riri rubbed her back.
"don't worry. we'll find her. she's gonna be okay. but wait, what did you say about maya? that ain't her real name?"
"i don't know, my memory is being weird. i somehow cannot recall what happened the day i met her. how we ended up dating. it's as if--"
"as if you were drugged?" riri finished the sentence. suddenly, everything clicked. shuri remembered everything, and blurted all of it out to riri.
***
you woke up. jittery, confused. taking a look at your surroundings, you realised that maya had you captured. you were tied to a wooden chair, and you seemed to be stuck in some sort of cave. there was a table in front of you, with a small black rectangular object. it looked like a taser, but you weren't quite sure. the wound on your leg was bandaged up. but who bandaged you in the first place?
"rise and shine, you little bitch," maya's voice loomed from behind you. she walked around to face you, and you sneered at the sight.
"oh i knew there was something off about you,"
"oh, yes, you clever girl," you noticed the change in her accent. initially, she spoke in an american accent. then, it changed to a french accent.
you raised an eyebrow. "french? what are you, a spy or something?"
she let out a sinister laugh. "well, yes. you could say that. i suppose since i'm about to kill you, i can tell you who i really am," well, there it was. maya's truth. what you'd been waiting for.
"my real name isn't maya. it's roberts. gabrielle roberts. i work for the french embassy, and was sent here to gain intel on wakanda and their military facilities. to get that close, i needed to get into the palace. and what better way than to seduce the queen?"
you laughed mockingly. "bullshit. shuri would've seen that coming a mile away,"
gabrielle sighed. "yes, you're right. she did. she was very skeptical of me when she first met me. i tried seducing her the old fashioned way, but she was entrapped by another woman. you, i believe."
"huh? excuse me??"
"did you not know? it's so obvious. i had to spend some time spying on shuri before i could approach her. she's in love with you."
you weren't buying it. you spent a decent 2 months telling yourself that shuri never wanted you that way and never will. and you refused to believe the word of a woman who lied about her identity to everyone.
"if she was so in love with me, then how did you bag her in the first place?"
"oh. simple. i drugged her."
"YOU WHAT?!"
"ah, relax. nothing too serious. although i had to keep giving her large doses for the drug to work. that lady's metabolism never takes a break,"
the strength of the black panther. shuri's body could break down complex chemicals within moments, so gabrielle had to continuously drug shuri to make sure she could still stay close to her, to gather all the intel she needed.
fortunately, she hadn't given shuri a single dose in over 6 hours, which was enough for the effects of the drug to completely wear off.
"so if you needed shuri for the intel, why'd you bring me here?"
"because, for the final part of my plan, i need to get access to the weaponry database. and as far as my research goes, you're the only one who can crack the code which will give me access to those records. so," she dragged your chair to the table and opened up a laptop in front of you.
"do it."
"do what?"
"open up those records. or i will blow your brains out," she shoved a gun to your head. you looked at gabrielle with wary eyes.
"dude, how stupid are you? how do you expect me to use a laptop if my fucking hands are tied behind my back?!" gabrielle sighed and moved to untie you. your wrist was swollen and bruised.
"i can't do it. my hand is busted. and besides, there's an encrypted code protecting foreign users from entering the database. it'll take months to break through it,"
"i don't have TIME for this!" gabrielle's voice echoed through the walls of the cave. she grabbed the taser and brought it to your abdomen, burning you with the current. silent tears ran down your cheeks. you couldn't die like this.
"i give you five minutes. figure it out, or i'll open that latch on the floor and flood the place. you have a fear of water, don't you? ah, it'll be hilarious watching you drown," with that, gabrielle walked away.
you started hyperventilating. things weren't looking so great for you. you weren't lying when you said the encrypted code would take months to break through. hell, it took nearly a year to make it that secure! you looked around the cave, trying to find a way to escape, to break through. the latch down opened up to water, but you had no idea how long you'd have to hold your breath until you'd reach the shore.
you left shuri some clues. the SOS message, the jewelry, the blood. you hoped that she'd find those.
ah, who am i kidding? she doesn't love me, she'll never love me. and now, i'm gonna die alone. why? cause i'm a paranoid bitch.
your five minutes were up and gabrielle walked back inside, an evil grin plastered on her face.
"time to die, whore."
you froze, accepting your fate. gabrielle lifted up her gun, ready to pull the trigger, when an explosion from behind sent her body hurtling in front. water and rocks splashed everywhere as you tried to see who was there.
shuri.
it was shuri. she first ran to you, her mask disappearing.
"sthandwa? are you okay?" she assessed you for any injuries, and got anxious as she saw your bleeding thigh and swollen hand.
"i'm fine, i promise," you replied, but you looked like you were gonna pass out. riri came from behind you and grabbed you gently, taking you outside where the royal talon fighter hovered, a medical team inside prepped to help you with any injuries.
"you drug me, lie to me, and harm the woman i love the most. give me one good reason why i shouldn't blow your face up right now," shuri glared gabrielle, hot rage coursing through her veins. the drugs were now completely out of her system, and she was ready to rip the spy's throat into shreds.
the mask of her suit hid her face as she lunged at the french woman, claws ripping at her chest. gabrielle let out a groan of pain. she tried to fight back, but the black panther was too strong. water began seeping through, and shuri knew she had to leave before she drowned as well. she considered helping gabrielle for a moment, before deciding that a) she was busted pretty bad and wasn't going to make it, and b) she was a threat to wakanda so there was really no point in saving her. the french embassy had come for wakanda before. they had to set an example, so that no other country would pull shit like that again.
shuri managed to get out just before the entire cave was flooded, and ordered the dora milaje to seal the exit, just in case.
the medical staff on the jet aided to your injuries, giving you some ointment and pain pills. before you knew it, you were dropped at the palace. you asked if you could be led to your apartment, but shuri insisted that you and riri stay at the palace for the night. too tired (and traumatised) to argue, you agreed and were shown to your quarters, where you laid down and were immediately taken over by exhaustion as you fell asleep.
***
rays of sunshine pooled through the large window as you slowly opened your eyes, getting up to see a tray sitting neatly on your bedside table. a bowl of oatmeal, topped with your favourite nut butter and fruits lay on the tray, along with the pain medication you were prescribed, a glass of water, some orange juice, and a note. you picked the note up first, instantly recognising the handwriting scribbled on it.
eat your breakfast, and call me once you're done
shuri <3
she drew a little heart next to her name. how cute. you got up to brush your teeth before scarfing down the food, juice, and medicine. seeing as you hadn't eaten in ages, your hunger made sense. as ordered to, you raised your kimoyo beads and gently tapped them to alert the queen.
"y/n! you're awake, how are you feeling?"
"pretty alright. i ate the breakfast you sent, took my meds, and i just got outta the shower. every part of my body is still in pain though,"
"don't worry, i'm on my way right now,"
"oh, no, shuri you don't have to--"
she hung up before you could finish. typical shuri.
a few minutes later, you heard a gentle knock on your door. "come in" you said softly. shuri's cute morning face popped up as she slowly made her way to your bed, sitting down next to you.
both of your backs were against the bed frame as you faced each other.
"hi," shuri muttered.
"hey,"
she didn't look up at you. slightly confused, you grabbed her chin and tilted her head upwards.
"why won't you look at me?"
her eyes started to water. "i guess i just feel guilty. if i had listened to you at first, i could've sent that french bitch away a long time ago. but you got hurt, because of me,"
"hey, hey..." you tried to console her. "don't blame yourself for this. you were drugged. we both know the great shuri udaku wouldn't fall for a stupid scam like that if she was in her senses," she let out a lugh after your comment and you smiled, happy that you could improve her mood.
as you got flashbacks from your cave encounter with gabriella, a specific thing she said crept up to your brain. and you knew you had to bring it up eventually.
"so, listen..." you fidgeted and shuri gently took your hand, intertwining your fingers together. it was a simple act you guys did as kids to show that you had each others backs. it always made your heart flutter.
"in the cave, when gabriella confessed to drugging you, she said it was because she wanted to seduce you but she couldn't do that while you were sober," shuri cringed when you said 'seduce' and you bit back a laugh at her expression.
"she said she couldn't seduce you without drugging you, because you were in love with me." shuri's head shot up as her eyes widened.
"now i don't know which drug she gave, or how much it affected your memory. but i'm pretty sure you didn't forget the day i told you i love you. and yes, i might not be as entirely over you as i said, but i'm okay with you not seeing me that way. i mean, i'll get over it i guess--"
she cut you off by smashing her lips against yours. it took you a moment to realise what was happening before you started to kiss back. you gently grabbed her shirt collar as she grabbed your waist, pulling you towards her lap, making you straddle her. you made out like that for a while before your need for oxygen interfered, causing you to pull away.
shuri smiled like a kid in a candy store. you smiled back.
"you won't believe how long i've wanted to do that. y/n, ever since the day i met you, i knew i was going to make you mine. how can someone not love you?" you giggled before kissing her again.
"so... are we girlfriends now?" you asked, the smile still stuck on your face.
"hmmm, well, let me think about it," you smacked her arm and she laughed.
"alright, alright, y/n y/l/n, my gorgeous princess, my sweetheart, my one and only, will you be my girlfriend? please?" you laughed and kissed her with all your heart. when you parted again, you chucked to yourself.
"what's so funny, sthandwa?"
"i'm just picturing riri's reaction when we tell her this. she's gonna lose the last bit of sanity she has left," both of you laughed at the image before lying down to cuddle, enjoying each other's embrace for the rest of the day.
*lil bonus scene as a sorry for taking so damn long to upload this*
"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" riri yelled out as you and shuri laughed. her reaction was everything you pictured and more.
"FINALLY!! GODDAMN YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE SHIT I'VE BEEN THROUGH!! SHURI YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS A THIRSTY ASS BITCH!! SHOULD'VE HEARD HER FANTASISING ABOUT THIS VIBRANIUM STRAP SHE TOLD ME ABOUT--"
"RIRI!!" you yelled and chased after her in shuri's lab. the queen laughed to herself.
bast, she's crazy. but she's mine. and i'd do anything for her.

Baby Smallfoot (Smallfoot X Baby! Reader)
Warning: contains fluff, short story. Please do read if this trigger you positively.
A/n: this takes place after Migo finds the baby reader. I didn’t add Percy in there, but he’s still in there (he heard about the abduction thing, and still decides to save the Yetis). Plus, Migo had found the reader last night and Meechee brought her back home before the end of the movie, so...
“What is that?” Kolka asked, pointing at the little, small bundle tied to Migo’s chest as he unstrapped it from him.
“Smallfoot Evidentiary Society, meet your mystical creature,” Migo grinned and held out the bundle in his hand to the group.
The bundle squirmed around, high-pitched cooing muffled underneath the blanket. The S.E.S. stared at it in anticipation before the bundle managed to pull the blanket off of her, sneezing in the process.
The small baby rubbed her eyes and stared up at the Yetis with wide (E/C) orbs.
The S.E.S. gasped in excitement as they gawked at the baby, who cooed without fear.
“I knew it was real,” Meechee whispered in joy.
“No one’s gonna think I’m crazy anymore,” Gwangi said, grinning widely.
“She’s so adorable,” Kolka cried tears of joy.
“And so small!” Fleem exclaimed in happiness.
“You did it, Migo! You actually did it!” Meechee said to Migo, who still held you for the others to see.
“No, we did it! The S.E.S.!”
Even though the Yetis were growling loudly, you were not scared, but instead giggling and waving your arms around. The blonde Yeti suddenly picked you up from the white-haired one.
“Oh, my gosh! You’re so cute!” Kolka cooed at you, cradling you next to your cheek. “I love you. I love you.”
“We gotta bring this truth to the village,” Gwangi added. “Blow some tiny minds.”
He made an explosion gesture with his two fingers.
“What was that?” Fleem asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Their minds are really tiny.”
“Gwangi’s right,” Meechee replied. “Let’s wake them up!”

August, 10 Summers Ago
There’s a stillness on Lake Augusta, before the hordes of people begin jet skiing, boating and tubing crash through it. It’s glassy smooth, deep blue and murky with seaweed and an invasive species of lake weeds. It expands for miles, the largest lake in the state, home to numerous resorts, personal and time-shared cabins, a coastline that stretches around almost all of the lake and home to a quaint, small town full of charm. Every year it waits for summer to breathe life back into it, to expand its holdings to be full of happiness, sunscreen and a few heartbreaks. It’s home away from home for many people. Not just a summer getaway, but a place to find oneself once again.
The town stretches on for maybe five blocks, with little shops selling nearly identical goods flush to each other. Each is painted its own pastel or neon shade, bright and calling in the friendly customers and new faces. The dirt road seeps into your shoes no matter how hard you try to avoid the dust, making certain shoes impossible to wear anywhere but at the lake. Everyone shop owner knows every shop owner, and they call to each other as they open their stores each morning. Shops shift every summer, the few boutiques selling overpriced goods often go under before the following year, the summer town desolate in the fall and winter. The few snowbirds come through town but want nothing to do with summer fair, and thus shops change management and names but rarely change the goods they sell.
It’s all cute and quaint, with the only relative drama coming from said shops switching management.
That is, the adult world is hardly any drama.
It’s the teenagers, and young adults that wreak havoc on the whole town, turning the peaceful pirate themed mini golf into the perfect place for clandestine meetings of exes, joint trading and conspicuous pictures being taken. They run town, and in turn their drama seeps into everyone’s summer jobs. The people running mini golf have always had suspiciously loose lips, trading secrets with the golf caddies at Gunner’s, who tell their girlfriends that work in Twix, Madras Plaid, and the sweet shop The Confectioners Corner. They then spread it to their friends who work at the resorts, Draven’s and Coral Mist (more on them later), who text and call and soon everyone, even the dockers who are only 13, know.
It’s an incestuous gossip hole, where secrets are hard to keep, and secret relationships rarely remain that way by summers end.
But it’s here, in August, that everything somehow coalesces and finds both you, and both Kim families, at the lake.
You have come to this cottage since before you were born. A property your moms bought when they had just gotten married, they’ve fixed it up year after year until it was absolutely perfect, AC included. It’s winterized, though you rarely make the four-hour drive from your house to the cabin when there’s a threat of snow. But some Christmases, and New Year’s, have been spent inside the walls. It’s a modest, two and a half bedrooms, two bath single story cottage with a stretch of sand and a lengthy dock. All the swimming gear stays locked in the wooden shed just adjacent to the house, and the pontoon sits readily waiting for rides around the lake, to dinners at Arnie’s and Bar Harbor.
This is your home, and so is the cottage next door, the home of the Kim’s.
Seokjin and his twin Namjoon, and your best friend and coconspirator, Eun-Ji (everyone calls her EJ), their parents bought the cottage the same time as your moms and raised you almost in tandem. Seokjin and Namjoon, a few years older, have never once looked at you or your brother, except the one time they were told to babysit and naturally didn’t. They’ve always been lost in their own lives, even as kids, they have a bond that’s unbreakable largely due to their shared womb experience. But EJ, now EJ has done nothing but pay attention to you. A friendship forged over having brothers, you’ve spent every summer together. The worst is always June and July, when the Kim’s are up at the cabin and due to your moms’ jobs, are stuck in the city without EJ.
This summer will be different. You both of scored summer jobs. Yours at The Confectioner’s Corner, EJ’s at Pirate’s Treasure Chest. You’ll both be working odd times, evenings and weekends, but somehow, you’re going to make this the best summer. You’re about to turn 15, ready to start high school…. This would be your summer. You’re sure of it.
“If you don’t hurry up and take the cooler in, all the food will be spoiled,” your mom scolded from the porch of the cottage. She stood with her foot in the door and a hand on her him, watching with scrutinizing eyes as you and your brother struggled to carry the large cooler up the walkway.
“We’re coming, it’s really heavy,” your brother, Alex, complained.
“Yeah, did you put an entire pig in here?” You asked.
“Stop complaining, you want to eat, don’t you?” She asked rolling her eyes.
“Of course, we do,” your mama called from the car, sticker her head out to meet her wife’s gaze. “Stop giving them hell because you’re hungry. Eat a snack, Jackie.”
Your mom rolled her eyes and took the few steps to come and help you and Alex.
“Can I go –
“YOU’RE HERE!” A voice bellows from somewhere between the trees. Thankfully your mom picked up the handle of the cooler because you dropped your side swiftly and took off running towards the voice.
“I AM!” You screamed, arms wrapping around EJ.
“I thought you were never going to get here!” EJ said, hugging you tight. “I’ve been stuck with my brothers for too long and I have needed you.”
“You have a cellphone,” You reminded her.
“You know my house is a total dead zone.”
It was a well-known fact that the Kim’s cottage, ten times larger than your family’s, has the worst internet and wifi connection on the whole lake. Well maybe not the whole lake, but at least this stretch of beach. You’ve texted and called EJ only to have them bounce back or not go through at all. It’s a nightmare.
“I know, but still. You don’t have to suffer any longer because I am here.”
“Y/N,” your mama called. “Help unpack or you’re grounded for two days.”
You stared at your mama in disbelief, two days? The beginning of August meant the small fair and carnival was happening, and with work not starting until Tuesday, you had all weekend and Monday to play, eat cotton candy and try to win cheap stuffed animals.
“Mama!” You groaned and stomped over to the car to help unpack.
“I’ll help too!” EJ declared as she took a bag of groceries from the trunk. The cooler was full, and being in the middle of nowhere, your moms had stocked up on the essential city items: almond milk, oat milk, gluten free waffles, bagels and bread, the good wine they loved, and Costco sized containers of meat. It wasn’t just that your parents and the Kim’s had become adults in tandem, it was that they raised you in tandem. Seokjin and Namjoon came over to eat at your house, talking to your mom and harassing Alex, almost every night. You too went to theirs. And thus, your moms had to buy Costco sized packages of meat to feed not one growing boy, but three.
EJ stops dead in her steps as she enters the kitchen, because of course Seokjin has already beaten her to it.
“Ugh, you,” she commented.
“Ew, you,” Jin said back. He was busy unpacking groceries into the fridge, your mom filling the pantry and cabinets with fresh food.
“Did you come in the back way?” EJ asked, snark in her tone.
“I did, smarter huh?” Jin teased.
“You’re the worst.”
“No fighting,” Your mom said. “We’ve been here for twenty minutes and I’m not starting my vacation with the two Kim’s bickering. My own kids –
“We are your kids too!” Namjoon said, poking his head in from the living room where he was setting up the router and powering up all the electronics.
“My biological kids have already been fighting. I don’t need additional bickering. Got it?”
“You need a drink,” Mama said coming in with the last of the carload. “Kids, go unpack.”
“Okay!” You agreed happily and tugged EJ’s hand along to your bedroom, where someone (probably Seokjin) had already placed your suitcase. Your room at the cottage was desperately smaller than your room at home, a single bed instead of a double, it’s soft white walls welcomed you every time you stepped into it. EJ had no trouble plopping on your bed.
“So, wanna hear the gossip?” She asked, eyebrows raising.
“Yes! I’ve missed out on two months of it. What has been going on?”
“Well, the big news is, the house two doors down from you,” EJ pointed, albeit in the wrong direction, to where the house was.
“The one that got demoed and rebuilt?”
It was hot gossip – who had torn down and built up a brand-new cottage? Who had threatened to change the landscape of the shore by creating a modern home? Who were these mysterious people?
“Yeah, duh them. They move in this week and get this, they have a son that’s also going to be a freshman in high school and, the craziest part,” EJ paused, leaning closer to you. “Their last name is Kim!”
“Whoa, another Asian family?” You sat down, staring shocked at her.
It was enough that you and Alex, biracial and clearly brown, with your two moms, was more than enough diversity for the small town. Then of course, there was the Kim’s and their three, very Korean children. And now, another Asian family was moving in. Never had there been this many non-white people living here.
“Isn’t it crazy?”
“Yeah, we have to like, be friends with them, don’t we?” You asked.
“Yes, because Jin and Joon are already annoyed someone else named Kim is moving in. They think everyone is going to be confused and think we’re related.”
“Wouldn’t that make people think you’re related, more?”
“That’s what my dad argued before he said that not wanting to be friends with them was anti-American, which sent Joon into a total spiral and mom sent him to his room.”
Ah, yes. The three Kim children have their own rooms in the lake house.
“It’s crazy that a Korean family is moving in, like that doesn’t happen. Not here.” You said, carefully taking the folded shirts out of your suitcase and placing them in their designated drawer, the second from the top.
“No, but maybe more people are buying houses out here? My mom said things are changing.”
“How would your mom know?” You asked.
“She’s on the board of the town beautification project or whatever and working on dealing with the invasive species that are in the lake,” EJ said.
“They’re not like, dangerous to humans, are they?”
“Relax, if they were Seokjin would’ve turned into a red puss ball by now.”
You laughed. “Can you imagine?”
“I can, it happens when he eats too much garlic. It’s very funny and apparently can kill him.”
“What’s the other gossip?” You wanted to keep the conversation moving. EJ, much like Namjoon, can get stuck on a subject and circle around it for hours.
“According to sources I cannot confirm –
That was lake code for “someone told me something they weren’t supposed to and now I’m telling you though I’m not supposed to”.
“Uh-huh,” you said.
“Maia is planning on losing her kissing virginity to Eric by end of summer.” EJ whispered, voice nearly rising loud enough to be heard outside your bedroom.
“Whoa,” you said, sitting back and staring at her. “She likes him like that?”
“I guess.”
“I thought she was into Matty,” you said.
“I did too, but then she came in this summer with boobs and straight hair, and I don’t know. They play mini golf at least once a week.”
“Whoa.”
EJ leaned in again, voice even quieter than before. “Apparently, Matty and Katherine have done under the shirt stuff too.”
“Whoa!” You said, making sure your door was closed so your moms didn’t hear anything. You sat down next to her, legs crossed, staring. “You’re joking.”
“Cross my heart on Fearless, I am not.”
“Oh my god,” you said. That was a serious vow, EJ loved Taylor Swift.
“Yeah. And apparently some of the older kids are throwing a rager next weekend when Roman’s parents are out of town. Like a real party, with beer.” She was so glad you were finally here to tell this information to because the bad reception and likelihood her parents would look at her texts meant that she couldn’t send you a message. But this was huge. Parents never go out of town, and kids who throw parties while they are away, always get caught. Always. There isn’t a parent in this section of shore that wouldn’t go over immediately and shut it down, or worse, call the sheriff with noise complaints.
“How do you know that?” You asked.
“I have my ways,” EJ said. Which was really a code for, I eavesdrop on my brothers.
“How could I have missed so much?” You asked, laying back on your bed.
“I don’t know, but once you start work, I’m sure you’ll hear so much gossip you’ll be filling me in.” She confided.
“I hope so. I just hope –
“None of it is about you, I know. Your deepest fear.”
“Exactly.”
“Are we going to the fair tomorrow?” EJ asked, standing to look through the new clothes you’d brought with you.
“Yeah, but not until like two because we don’t want to seem, like, eager.”
“We’re high school freshman,” EJ said, like it carried weight or magnitude in your current situation.
“That means we’re at the bottom of the totem pole, again.” You reminded her.
EJ scoffed. “We’re always going to be at the bottom with that attitude.”
“At least while your brothers are around, we will be.”
“So true, I can’t wait until they go to college.”
“A few more years,” you said, resigned to experiencing the summer in the shadow of EJ’s hulking older brothers.
Seokjin and Namjoon, fraternal twins born five minutes apart, are like night and day. Seokjin has always been the sun, willing to help, kind to everyone but introverted to a fault. He’s the favorite caddy of all the summer hires, requested by the high-profile club members, he’s kind and welcoming, always known for sharing an uproariously funny joke or two. But outside of Gunner’s, Jin stays to himself, doing his schoolwork, studying in the summer for his upcoming standardized tests, reading college required reading and making sure EJ stays in line. He might be the sun, but he carries no social clout and thus tries not to be outshone by Namjoon, something he fails at at the lake.
Namjoon, student body president and assistant summer manager at Draven’s Resort, he works in mysterious ways. Clumsy and prone to accidents (he’s definitely broken a bone sitting on the dock), he knows what’s happening at every single business and clique of friends in town. How? No one really knows, but his penchant for being found both behind all the stores (the area they call the mall), and somehow never being seen anywhere but work and his parents’ house, has led the towns youth to create so many rumors about him he can’t keep straight what’s true and what isn’t. He isn’t above it all, in any sort of way. In fact, he’s always been a little lost in who he is when he’s up here. At home he’s totally fine, self-assured and aware of who he is and what he does. But here? He’s both Namjoon Kim, second son of the Kim’s, and Namjoon Kim, mysterious perpetually single yet dashing intellectual who is always injured. Neither identity feels true. If it was up to him, he’d be a bit more like Seokjin, who is the same at the lake as he is at home. Or EJ, who doesn’t ever seem to doubt who she is becoming.
The Lake Augusta Country Fair comes through once a summer, in August always, and brings with it a host of outsiders and new job opportunities. The businesses around town hire extra teens, and you’re considered lucky if you don’t have to work the weekend of the big fair. Seokjin and Namjoon always work it, their personalities and penchant for big tips always makes the guests spend more money, so they only get to go in the evenings. EJ is too new to be kept on at Mini Golf for the weekend, and thus she and you are on your way with Alex in tow.
The fair is like any state fair, carnivals rides, a Ferris wheel, elephant ears, are all a part of the excitement. No one in town sells shoestring fries quite like the carts available that weekend. And, the thrilling part of the entire fair, the water park. The water park is the best part of the fair. A small wave pool, five large water slides that all pour into the same pool, and a surf simulator are the most popular of the attractions. But the lazy river, which extends the entire perimeter of the water park is truly the best place to be. Not only do the non-working teenagers gossip there, it's where first dates are held, college students get drunk, and pre-teens get to experience freedom away from their parents.
It’s there that you see him – soft eyes, one mono-lid, big and brown and staring at you. He smiles shyly, staring at you before looking away quickly.
“Hey,” you said to EJ. “Who is that?”
“Who?” she asked, looking to the spot where you were gesturing.
“That guy, black hair, he looks about our age,” you said.
“I don’t see him.”
“Oh,” you shook your head, maybe you imagined it.
“It’s our turn, come one,” EJ said and grabbed your hand, pulling you and your tube towards the entrance of the lazy river.
Dinner at the fair is a cornucopia of fried foods and grease covered side dishes. Mac & Cheese balls, corn dogs, fries, topped off with ice cold coke and a root beer float, or fried ice cream with a fried Oreo on top, are the best of the options you and EJ can pick.
It’s in picking up your root beer floats that you spot him again, honeyed skin, boxy grin, staring at what looks like his younger sister. He glanced up and you glanced away, unsure what the moment was, if anything. But you couldn’t forget the way your heart raced, how you wanted to talk to him, know him, wave and say hello to him. But you didn’t. You grabbed your treats and went back to EJ.
“I saw that kid again.” You told her.
“Really?” She asked. It was unusual to see the same person again, the fair brought in thousands of locals.
“Yes really, I think he has a little sister.”
“Okay, stalker much.”
“I’m not stalking, I just happened to see him again.” You said.
“Did you say something?” She asked.
“No.”
“Well how are you going to give him your kissing virginity if you don’t talk to him?”
“Oh my god EJ!” You said hitting her arm. “I’m not doing that.”
“And why not?” She asked.
“I don’t even know him. He could live a town over and never come back after today, I’m not going to give my kissing virginity to someone I don’t even know.”
“Whatever you say,” EJ teased.
The thing is, what you didn’t realize and refused to acknowledge even now, is that EJ was completely right. And you absolutely would.
The saccharine smell of sugar, homemade fudge and fresh waffle cones waft through the doorway of The Confectioners Corner, the towns only sweet shop. It’s painted sky blue with yellow, pink and white polka dots. The branding is very Dylan’s Candy Bar if Dylan’s went rural summer destination. It’s owned by Greg and Donna, two lifers who spend their fall and winters in the city running some clothing boutique, which apparently does well enough that they built a million-dollar lake getaway. They hire a group of teens every summer to run their candy store while they’re busy making the candy. Fresh fudge nearly every day, decadent malted milk balls and designer gummies from top notch suppliers fill the shelves. It’s heaven for kids, and the most coveted place to work outside of Pirate’s Treasure Chest Mini Golf.
The only reason you’re working there that summer was because Alexis had to go home early to prepare for college, she’s going to UC San Diego and has to pack up her entire life to move. Which meant Greg and Donna had one single opening for the month of August, and with the recommendations from Seokjin and Namjoon, the spot was yours.
Stepping into the shop on your first day, you maneuvered through the crowd of people buying gummy worms and cookies and cream fudge to the back where you’re meant to sign in. It’s busy, as to be expected for noon on a Tuesday when the temperature is over 80 degrees. In the back is Shannon, the manager, waiting patiently for you to show up.
“There you are Y/N!” She said with a smile. “Finally, here’s your apron. Toss it on and wash your hands, then the three of us will get started.”
“Three?” You asked, looking around for a third person to join in your training.
“Three,” a voice said behind you, causing you to turn and stare.
Of course, in the perfect rom-com moment that could only happen at Confectioners Corner, it was him. The boy from the fair. He was much taller when he was standing two feet from you, and his eyes somehow gentler than you realized when squinting in the hot sun. he was… cute. Too cute to be back here working in the ice cream section. He should be working on the golf course or at the resort being a lifeguard. Not relegated to the back section of the candy shop.
“Y/N, this is Taehyung. He’s new, too,” Shannon said and tossed the blonde hair dripping down her back into a messy top knot.
Shannon had worked summers at the candy shop every year of high school, and somehow came back the first two summers in college too. She was 20, lean from playing club volleyball and tan from sunning on the shore in her off hours. Two years ago, she nearly ruined her reputation over a relationship with the lead caddy over at Gunner’s. It had been the hottest gossip of the whole summer. Craig had been a year older, and after taking Shannon to prom his senior year, they started dating. That is until he broke up with her over a game of mini-golf and nearly ruined her life with the scandal. Craig’s family sold their property and bought a home on a lake twenty miles away, and no one’s heard from them since.
Shannon is beloved by Greg and Donna, who view her as their fourth child and entrust the business to her every summer without fail.
“I saw you, at the fair,” you said, staring at Taehyung.
“Yes, I saw you too.”
“Taehyung, are you the new Kim family that moved into Pebble Beach Road?”
“How’d you know that?” He asked.
“I live next door, the little navy cottage.”
“Next to that huge house with the loud boys, right?”
“Yeah, next to them.”
“We haven’t been here long enough to know anyone, but I think I’ve seen you.”
The idea that he had seen you before you saw him made you dizzy. Had he known when you locked eyes at the fair that you were neighbors? Did he already know you’d be working together for the rest of summer?
“You should come over sometime, meet everyone,” you were unsure where this bravery came from.
“Oh yeah?” He asked, surprised.
“Yeah, you should. The guys are idiots, but EJ and I are fun, and my brother Alex is always looking for someone to go tubing or swimming with.”
“I’ve got a sister and a brother, they’d probably like all that too.”
“Cool,” you said.
“Yeah, cool.”
“Okay, now that you two know each other, let’s get started,” Shannon said.
It turns out scooping ice cream is harder than it looks, particularly because The Confectioner’s Corner keeps the ice cream a little past freezing, making it almost rock solid. Taehyung already has natural muscles, some from dancing and whatever sports he plays during the school year. You on the other hand, are fairly strong from swim team and volleyball. But by weeks end you’re both exhausted, barely peddling home on your bikes.
It’s routine, whenever you work together and are heading off at the same time, you ride together. Your moms and Taehyung’s parents are happy that each of you has a buddy, and it does make the often-sweltering ride so much nicer. Taehyung is sweet, and funny, and a little off kilter in a way that makes him exciting to be with.
“You wanna come for a swim?” You asked at the end of your morning shifts. 8AM-12PM is a sweet time to work because you hardly get a rush but then get the rest of the afternoon to swim, play and be nearly 15 years old.
“Oh, sure!”
“EJ has the day off, so she’ll be around, and of course Alex too. I think one of EJ’s brother’s is off too… I hope it isn’t Seokjin.”
“You don’t like him?” Taehyung asked as he hung his apron up.
“Everyone likes Seokjin. Everyone.”
“Not you?”
“He’s so… obnoxious. He teases me all the time and just, he sucks. Namjoon is much more likable.”
That was in no way true, in fact the crush you had on Seokjin was so buried deep within you that not even EJ knew. You didn’t really know, either, keeping it all locked up inside you… burying it because what would happen? Seokjin was seventeen! What did a seventeen-year-old want with a barely fifteen-year-old? And it wouldn’t be romantic like in The Princess Diaries, it would be weird and creepy because he’s almost an adult and you…. well, you hadn’t even started high school.
“Oh, I get that.”
“I’m gonna head home to eat lunch and then go out – wanna meet in an hour?”
“Uh, yeah, sure.”
“Okay, you can just cross the beach to mine, I’ll be outside,” you smiled at him, excited for EJ to finally meet him.
“Sounds perfect.”
“I gotta stop by the store on my way home, otherwise I’d ride with you,” you told him. Taehyung nodded and took off through town and turned right at the stop light.
You hadn’t given yourself enough time. The store was a ten-minute bike ride from work, and then a twenty-minute ride to your house from the store. And of course, it took longer at the store to get the tomatoes and lettuce and whatever alternative to mayo your mama wanted for BLTs that night, and then cobb salads the next day. By the time you were meant to be on the beach, you were barely getting into your swimsuit let alone eating. You ran out the door to the beach with your turkey sandwich in hand, and stood slightly breathlessly as EJ and Taehyung made their respective ways to you.
“Why haven’t you eaten?” EJ demanded, staring at you with confusion in her eyes. “Weren’t you done like an hour ago?”
“I had to stop at the store to get dinner stuff.”
“Couldn’t your moms do that?” She asked.
“Moms?” Taehyung repeated as he finally made his way to you.
“I have two moms. They’re chill,” you explained.
“Oh,” Taehyung said.
“Taehyung, this is EJ.”
“Hi, nice to me-
“Aish! What are you doing?” Namjoon’s voice came booming from the dock across from yours. Wasn’t he supposed to be working today?
“Ya, why are you touching our sister?” Came Seokjin’s voice from the porch of their house. He met Namjoon halfway and came walking together towards the trio you had formed.
“Calm down jerks,” you said. “This is Taehyung, he lives next door, and we work together. I invited him, and his siblings to come and swim this afternoon. Chill,” you said.
“No, we won’t chill,” Namjoon said as he laughed and elbowed his twin. “So, you’re Taehyung.”
“Uh, yes?”
“The newest Kims,” Seokjin said taking in the sight of Taehyung.
“I guess? Are you guys’ Kim’s too?”
“We are, the original Kim’s on Lake Augusta,” Namjoon answered.
“Oh, well that’s super cool!” Taehyung said with a shy smile.
“So where do you live?”
“Yeah, you local?”
“No, we came here because my mom used to as a kid, and she wanted us to experience it.”
“Why weren’t you here all summer?” Jin wanted to know.
“My mom saves her PTO and some sick days to take most of a month off and it’s always August,” Taehyung explained.
“That’s fair,” Namjoon and Seokjin agreed.
“What are your thoughts on Glee?” Jin asked.
“Or P!nk?”
“Why?” Taehyung asked.
“Enough go away!” EJ declared pushing her brothers away. “You can do your weird protective spying from the dock. Leave us alone.”
“Just one last question,” they said, stopping and maneuvering out of EJ’s weak grasp.
“What?” You groaned.
“What are your intentions with our sister and sister from another mister?” Namjoon asked. Seokjin laughed, high pitched and squeaky before EJ charged at them and they ran back to their posts on the dock.
“Those are?” Taehyung started.
“My older brothers. Sorry they’re incompetent jerks.”
“Why were they asking about P!nk?”
“We’re really obsessed with her.”
“Oh,”
“Did you siblings want to come and join us?” You asked Taehyung.
“They’re eating and then they got in trouble, so they have chores to do. My parents are not happy.”
“You don’t live around here, do you?” EJ asked him as she led you guys towards the dock. She sat dangling her feet off the edge while you finished your rushed sandwich.
“No, we flew in and then drove.”
“How old are your siblings?”
“My sister is twelve and my brother is nine,” Taehyung said, then he did what he knew you and EJ weren’t expecting: he slid right off the dock and into the water, disappearing completely before his head came bobbing to the surface.
“Oh my god!” EJ laughed. “You scared me!”
You just stared at him, smiling, because somewhere you knew… this was going to be the first of many times Taehyung Kim surprised you.
The rest of summer passed in a haze of swims in the lake, mini golf tournaments that Taehyung always won, and enough ice cream scooping to turn you and Taehyung into pros. It was a perfect summer, your very own The Summer I Turned Pretty which is all you and EJ had wished and prayed for.
Your final evening, you sat out on your dock, the Adirondack chairs your moms bought perfectly placed on the edge just so your legs dangled barely above the water, Taehyung in the chair next to you. You'd spent a lot of days, and nights, sitting with bug repellent on and Taehyung by your side, EJ on the other Adirondack. But she’d gone home yesterday because her brothers had clubs and coursework to begin for their senior years, not to mention SATs to finish studying for and college applications to perfect. Your moms sat in the screened in, air-conditioned porch, watching your and Taehyung’s shadows as you gazed up at the stars, totally unaware of what you talked about.
“I’m kind of scared,” you said, gazing up at the big dipper.
“I am too.”
“What if I can’t find my classes? Or am late?”
“I think everyone has those concerns,” Taehyung said.
“I hope so. Orientation is going to be so weird. But I’m kind of, excited?”
“I am too. I don’t know if I’ll know anyone, though.” He said.
“Really? Because you moved?” You asked.
“Yeah, and whatever my friends were before we moved to Seoul and then back have probably all moved on and don’t care about me anymore.” Taehyung explained.
“Can we promise something?” You hoped, eyes pulling from the stars to look at his profile.
“Yeah,” Taehyung said, mimicking your posture.
A crush was what he had on you, little and quiet, something brewing in his chest. You’d spent nearly every day working together at The Confectioners Corner, and afternoons and evenings together too. He’d become your second-best friend after EJ, and somehow… he’d started finding your company a little dizzying. His heart racing whenever you smiled at him, excitement when you started listening to a song he recommended. It was exciting, and he… he was going to miss you and EJ when you left for home.
“Can we promise that on August 1st, next summer, we’ll meet here at 9PM?”
“So specific,” Taehyung teased.
“Well, I’m not getting a phone until my birthday, and neither are you, so it’s not like we can text. You’ll just have to promise.”
“Pinky promise?” Taehyung said.
“Yes,” you stuck your thumb towards him.
“Okay, Y/N, I promise.”

As a favor to Lucas, Kun’s girlfriend Ruby was organizing a surprise birthday party for Alma, Lucas’s girlfriend. Ruby and her roommates offered their house to host the party, and though Alexandria didn’t qualify as a roommate, she was a friend, so she was part of the party planning committee. When she arrived on the day of the party, she was not prepared for the NCT frat bros to be at Ruby’s house, helping set up.
Once Janell handed out responsibilities to the volunteers, Alexandria was seated at the dining table, using Ruby’s coveted decorating tweezers to strategically place silver sprinkles onto a simple white frosted cake. With her legs crossed in front of her, and her shoulders slumped down to get a closer inspection at the cake, Alexandria stopped and sat up straight, rolling her shoulders as she fixed her posture. Blowing her brown bangs out of her eyes, she tried not to think about her mom’s constant nagging, You’re an adult now, and you still need to fix your posture.
“The ‘A’ needs more sprinkles,” Haechan said, leaning over from across the table to look at her work, breaking her concentration.
“Who died and made you my boss?” she asked, looking up at him.
“I mean, if you want the cake to be ugly, don’t take my advice,” he said with a shrug, turning back to the game he was playing on his phone.
“What are you doing here if you’re not helping set up for the party?” she asked, trying to keep her tone even.
“Johnny told me to be here two hours before 5:00 so I’m here two hours before 5:00,” he said.
“We’re here two hours early so we can help set up for the party,” Renjun explained as he sat down next to Haechan. “Janell put us on balloon duty.”
“Where’s the helium tank?” Haechan asked, looking up. “I’ll fill the balloons and you can tie them.” “We can take turns,” Renjun replied. “It’ll be faster.”
“No, you have nimble fingers. They’re perfect for tying balloons. I can’t tie balloons. I should be in charge of the helium tank.”
“Lex!” they heard a voice shout from the backyard. The only person to call her by that name was Janell's younger sister. Renjun jumped in his seat and Haechan snorted a guffaw while Alexandria stood up and slapped Haechan’s arm gently, chiding him for laughing at Renjun. Renjun was easily startled but Haechan took extra glee in his reaction due to Renjun having a crush on Janell's sister.
Alexandria hadn’t meant to find out that Renjun had a crush on Violet, but during a recent party at the NCT Frat house Renjun had drunkenly admitted to her and a couple friends his secret. Before the party, Alexandria considered herself friendly with Renjun, but now that she’d experienced him make a drunken confession they were comfortable calling each other friends. He’d even gone to her condo a couple times to hang out. Unfortunately for Renjun, since Alexandria was in on the secret Haechan felt more comfortable teasing him in front of her.
“Alexie,” Haechan said, touching her arm to stop her from leaving, “don’t make it obvious that Renjun likes Violet.”
Renjun reached over to wrap his hands around Haechan’s neck, a pained smile on his lips, and Alexandria shook her head as she turned away from the fight. She was going to have to remind Ruby and Kun that they were better off not asking any of the NCT guys to help with any sort of party planning. The small surprise birthday party for Lucas’s girlfriend had turned into a daycare for man-children, and not even half of them had come.
“You called?” Alexandria said to Violet once she made it outside to the backyard. She sat down on the picnic table. Violet, Janell, and Johnny were decorating a couple mason jars for the small bouquets of wild flowers they’d picked from around the neighborhood.
“If I gave you some cash, would you go to the dispensary and buy me a couple joints?” Violet asked. "My sister and her boyfriend won't help me out."
“Hold on,” Alexandria said, raising her hands out before her as she stood up. “Am I the only one who remembers what kind of party this is? Lucas asked for a small cute surprise birthday party for Alma, this isn’t a house party.”
“Oh my gosh, Lex, you’re always so dramatic,” Violet said with a sigh. “I need some weed because I broke up with Joey, OK?”
“I’m sorry,” Alexandria said as she sat down beside Violet, hugging her. “We can chill at my place after Alma’s birthday party. I’ll take you to my favorite dispensary, my treat. What happened?”
As Violet tearfully went on a tangent about her ungrateful ex-boyfriend, Alexandria glanced over to see Janell and Johnny rolling their eyes. It was in Janell’s nature not to extend too much sympathy toward her younger sister, still holding a grudge that Violet had followed her across state lines to attend the same university, so Alexandria took on the task to give Violet a little more patience as a surrogate older sister. With that in mind, Alexandria couldn’t blame Janell and Johnny for reacting the way they did when it came to Joey, Violet’s boyfriend of 5 months.
The couple were cute, but they argued constantly. Violet and Joey had spent the last month threatening to break up with each other, and now that they were properly broken up it seemed like the drama was still ongoing. Alexandria tried her best to remember what it was like with her first boyfriend. She'd believed he was The One and put up with the petty drama, so she understood why Violet was putting herself through the unnecessary pain with Joey. After a five minute rant, Violet seemed satisfied and grew quiet as Alexandria confirmed that she would buy Violet some weed.
Returning to the dining table, Alexandria found Renjun tying ribbons onto a single balloon, and then heard Haechan with some others in the front living room, playing with the balloons and helium tank. She sat down and crossed her legs in her seat before returning to spelling out Alma’s name onto the cake using the sprinkles. Renjun ran a hand through his hair and leaned back as he watched Alexandria decorate the cake, his new platinum blonde hair making his brown eyes seem bigger and darker than they already were.
“Did you hear?” she asked softly, raising an eyebrow. “Violet broke up with Joey.”
“You’re lying,” he said, though he sat up straight, leaning over closer to her. “What happened?”
“She broke up with him a few days ago, and I invited her to my place so we can get high,” she replied. “You should come along. Maybe you can cheer her up.”
He laughed nervously as he met her gaze, and she closed her mouth as Ruby and Kun entered the kitchen. Given the tone of his voice, Kun was nearing the end of his patience as he barked orders over his shoulder only to be met with what sounded like Yangyang imitating Kun. There was a ripple of high pitched laughter, and Ruby gave Kun a pleading look.
“They’re grown men, they’ll be fine,” Kun said, setting some grocery bags onto the countertop.
“They’re playing with a cheap helium tank,” Ruby said softly. “Do you hear them?”
The front living room sounded like the Chipmunks singing Migos’ “Walk It Talk It” followed by more high pitched laughter. Groaning and slumping his shoulders, Kun turned around and led Ruby back to the front living room so they could make sure the boys weren’t going to hurt themselves. Meanwhile, Alexandria and Rejun set up the dining table with the bouquets, balloons, and cake.
As everyone gathered around the front door to surprise Alma, Alexandria asked Jeno and Hendery to help her tape up the streamers in the kitchen so that Renjun and Violet would have a moment alone on the loveseat. When she returned to the front living room, she saw Renjun and Violet deep in conversation, and patted herself on the back. As she stood beside the loveseat, Violet grabbed her hand and invited her to sit with them, sandwiching Renjun between them.
"Isn't he the softest thing in the world?" Violet asked as she reached her arms out around Renjun and grasped onto Alexandria's arms.
Alexandria gave a chuckle as she reached out to grab Violet’s arms in return and the two women hugged Renjun, his face turned bright pink and he began guffawing. It was difficult for anyone not to like Violet. She enjoyed showing affection to her friends and was doing her best to make Renjun blush, making some of the other guys laugh. Alexandria placed a hand on Renjun’s cheek and chuckled again as she felt that it was burning up. She removed herself from the group hug and let Violet continue to hug him while she turned around to see Kun and Johnny standing nearby, complaining like middle age dads, each man holding a can of beer in his hand.
Even after graduating, Kun and Johnny were still in touch with the frat house, making sure the guys were taking care of themselves. It also benefited the NCT guys that Kun and Johnny's girlfriends were still attending university, so the two men were likely nearby the campus during their free time. Alexandria understood the sentiment. She hadn't lived with Ruby and Janell for over a year, but she visited them often and helped clean the house as if she still lived there.
When Lucas and Alma arrived at 5:00, Yangyang, Haechan, Xiaojun, Hendery, Jaemin, and Chenle had taken some of the helium filled balloons and insisted on singing Alma's birthday song with their high pitched helium voices. Alma was a good sport and clapped as everyone suffered through their helium induced singing. Once she was served a slice of cake, Alexandria sat down with Violet and Renjun in the dining room, the trio sitting across from Alma and Lucas.
Lucas pulled Alma into his lap and he kissed her free hand as she ate her slice of cake. For as long as Alexandria had known the couple, they were proud to be affectionate with each other. Their PDA didn't bother her, but she knew it made some people uncomfortable. She stopped herself from laughing out loud and snorted cake up her nose as she glanced over to see Renjun poking his fork into his slice of cake as his eyes darted nervously from Alma to Lucas while Violet's eyes were focused on the pair as she passively chewed on her food. The pair looked to be taking notes from Alma and Lucas.
"I-I need water," Alexandria coughed out, distracting Renjun and Violet. The cake crumbs up her nose burned her sinuses, and she stood up to find a tissue.
"Let me take you home," Violet announced, standing up immediately. "Happy birthday, Alma! Janell and Johnny paid for your present but I picked it out. Remember that when you unwrap it."
"Over here, Dria," Renjun said, standing up and leading her toward the front living room by placing his hand on her elbow.
"Lexie!" Yangyang and Xiaojun exclaimed together.
"Alexie!" Haechan and Hendery screamed, making her laugh before she gagged and fell onto the sofa beside Jeno.
“Are you dying, Andria?” Jeno asked as he helped her sit up. His shoulders were shaking as he tried not to laugh.
The guys found out that Renjun gave Alexandria a nickname in an attempt to start a conversation with Violet when he first met Violet. Whenever any of them heard Renjun call her "Dria" they enjoyed making jokes out of her name, and Alexandria knew it was easier to let the kids have their fun rather than take the teasings to heart.
“I don’t want to ruin the party,” she said when Renjun handed her a bottle of water. “I’m going home.”
“Can I come?” Violet asked immediately, linking her arm with Alexandria’s.
“You want to come along?” Alexandria asked Renjun.
“I do,” Haechan said, raising his hand. “Alexie! Will you make me your mom’s eggrolls?”
“Sorry, Haechan,” Violet said as she grabbed Renjun’s hand. “Alexandria only likes me and Renjun.”
“Happy birthday, Alma!” Alexandria shouted as Violet walked her and Renjun out of Ruby and Janell’s home.
As she dropped by the dispensary, Alexandria had Violet and Renjun go buy snacks, directing them to meet at the front of her condo complex after 20 minutes. She took a slow stroll through the streets, appreciating the warm spring weather. She thought about how she was playing Renjun’s wing(wo)man, and she wondered if her interest in Renjun and Violet hooking up was her way in dating vicariously through her friends, something Ruby and Wen, one of Ruby’s other roommates, had accused her of before.
She gave herself another pat on the back when she saw Renjun and Violet laughing together, plastic bags in their hands. Was she dating vicariously through her friends? Whatever the case, Alexandria was glad that Renjun and Violet seemed to be hitting it off. Renjun was a fun person to be around, and Violet was playful as well, the two would always have fun together. Violet could take advantage of Renjun’s NCT Frat status to invite herself to Janell and Johnny’s dates. There was so much to be gained, Alexandria hoped Violet would see Renjun’s datability.
"We decided to watch a horror movie," Violet announced when Alexandria led them inside. "Have you heard of It Follows? It's about a sexually transmitted monster. Renjun makes it sound good."
"Um, OK," Alexandria replied, plastering on a bright smile. She hated horror movies, but Renjun and Violet looked excited as they shared a smile and raised their eyebrows. "Is it, like, super scary?"
"It's not super gory but there are definite scary elements to it," Renjun answered. "Your condo is perfect, too, Dria. It's quiet and there's only going to be the three of us."
"Perfect," Alexandria muttered as Renjun and Violet listed their favorite horror movies to each other while they entered the elevator.
Renjun made them iced green tea, and Alexandria popped 2 bags of popcorn in her microwave and unpacked all the candies into bowls. Violet sat by the patio door and lit a joint as she played music from her phone, setting the mood for the evening. Alexandria went through stages where she either smoked a lot of weed or she didn’t, and she hadn’t smoked in over 2 months, but Violet tempted her into taking a few hits, especially when Renjun said that he’d take a hit if Alexandria did. He didn’t react well, coughing up a storm, and Alexandria felt bad that Renjun was smoking in an attempt to impress Violet.
She felt worse when she noticed that Violet was texting with Joey. Violet’s music playlist had started with playful Bruno Mars songs, but after a few texts with Joey she began playing Ariana Grande love jams. Renjun was too busy singing along to the music to notice the shift in Violet’s mood. Placing the bowls of snacks onto a serving tray, Alexandria asked Violet and Renjun to bring the snacks to the living room and start the movie while she would finish preparing the iced tea, hoping to give them a few minutes alone.
“I invited Joey over,” Violet announced when Alexandria arrived with a small serving tray that held the glasses of tea, sitting up straight. “He wants to watch the movie with us.”
“Um, sure,” Alexandria said as she sat down next to Violet, making sure it was Violet who was seated in the middle. “How long before Joey gets here?”
“He’ll be here soon,” Violet said loudly as she picked up the remote and started the movie.
Alexandria held the bowl of popcorn in her lap as she sat on the couch with her legs crossed in front of her, her shoulders slouching. Noticing her posture, she straightened her back, and rolled her shoulders as she glanced over to see Violet’s eyes glued to her phone while Renjun was busy shoving M&Ms into his mouth, completely absorbed in the movie. They were roughly ten minutes into the movie when there was a knock on the front door.
“I’ve got it!” Violet said immediately, jumping up and rushing to the front door. She stepped outside and shut the door, having not invited Joey in.
Alexandria ate some popcorn as she tried to pay attention to the movie, but all she could hear was Violet and Joey having an argument in the hallway. As Joey sounded like he was crying, begging Violet to give him another chance, Alexandria glanced at Renjun and was impressed to see him absentmindedly shoving Skittles into his mouth, still completely immersed with the movie. She turned her attention to the movie, and felt her face grow hot as she realized that the scene was a sex scene. Feeling silly for her bashfulness, Alexandria set the bowl of popcorn onto the coffee table and grabbed her glass of iced tea. The movie was about a sexually transmitted monster, of course there would be at least one sex scene.
Sipping her drink, Alexandria’s eyes drifted to the front door as she heard Violet and Joey talk, their voices sounding softer and less volatile. Her eyes returned to the TV screen as she set her drink down, and she sank into her seat as she watched the scene unfold. The lead protagonist, a blonde girl named Jay, was lying on her stomach in the backseat of her date’s car as she talked.
It was a sweet post-sex scene, her date was crawling up behind her, and Alexandria gave a soft sigh as she thought about the last time she’d felt a guy press his body up against her back. It’d been before Ruby and Janell began dating their boyfriends, and she cringed at the length of her dry spell. Her mind forgot about her lack of a sex life as the lead’s date chloroformed her from behind, shocking Alexandria. She leaned in close to Renjun and threw a hand over her mouth, worried that she might scream.
“Renjun, what’s going on?!” she breathed out, shaking his arm. “I thought this was about a sexually transmitted monster! Is her date going to kill her?”
“Watch the movie,” he said, sighing gently. “Can I get some popcorn?”
Alexandria screamed and grabbed on tighter to Renjun’s arm as the scene in the movie became more intense, Jay’s date had tied her up to a chair and she could not move as her date explained to her of the monster that was now after her. It was a slow monster that took on the form of a random person, and once It caught up to the infected person It would kill them. She buried her face into Renjun’s arm, and said to him, “I can’t watch this! I can’t watch this!”
Renjun laughed, making her look up, and she sat up straight, feeling her face grow hot.
“It’s just a movie. I knew you were afraid of scary movies, but…wow, Dria. You’re a complete wimp.”
“I never denied being a complete wimp,” she said, shoving his arm. “If you want to finish this movie then you’re going to have to put up with me jumping and screaming.”
“Fine,” he said, giving a small chuckle, throwing his arm over her shoulder. “I can’t believe I have to hold you like a little kid.”
“Oh my gosh, they called the cops?” she asked, turning her attention to the movie.
“Cops are useless in horror movies,” he replied. “You really don’t watch scary movies?”
“No. Do you remember that old Japanese movie…Ju-Oh? My cousin was babysitting me when I was 8, and she put it on for us to watch and I haven’t liked scary movies since.”
Renjun laughed and she poked his side to shut him up. After he pushed her away, Alexandria hugged her legs and Renjun leaned back into the sofa as he ate the popcorn. The movie’s pacing was slower and more subtle than she’d anticipated, and Alexandria found herself being drawn into the mystery. What was going on, and would Jay be able to avoid the monster? Alexandria bit her bottom lip, wondering if she’d be able to go through with finding new sex partners in an attempt to prevent a monster from coming to kill her.
The suspense built up again, and Alexandria tried to be brave, but the reveal of the monster entering Jay’s house at night was too grotesque. She screamed once more, and grabbed for Renjun’s arm again, throwing her face into his shoulder. He laughed, and threw his arm over her shoulder, letting her grab onto his hoodie as she turned her face in toward his chest. The movie kept slowing the suspense down to build up drama, and whenever the suspense built up it went on much longer than she was prepared for, so Alexandria spent the majority of the film curled up in Renjun’s arm, clawing her fingers into his chest.
“So are they going to die?” she asked him once the movie ended. It ended on an ambiguous note.
“Maybe,” he said, shrugging his shoulders. “What do you think?”
“I think if I ever watch scary movies, this is the only way I can watch them,” she said, burying her face into his chest again.
The air was silent and became very still after what felt like an entire minute. Renjun hadn’t moved a centimeter, so she lifted her head up and saw him looking down at her with his eyebrows furrowed. Looking into her eyes, his face softened, and he reached over to cup her cheek in his hand. She looked at his long eyelashes for a moment when he kissed her, but feeling the warmth of his lips on hers instantly had her closing her eyes. His hold around her tightened, and she moved her hand up to touch his neck. As her fingers moved to caress his earlobe, he pulled back, breaking the kiss.
They stared at each other, and Alexandria could only think about wanting to kiss him again, her mind feeling foggy. She could feel her heart beating fast and loud in her throat, and his arm draped around her body felt heavy. She pressed her chest against his as she pushed forward, kissing him, but turned her head aside when she felt his hand on her cheek drift down to her neck. He groaned as his tongue flicked the side of her cheek.
“I think you should go home,” she said softly.
The heat that burst into her gut was intense when his fingers had touched the bare skin of her neck, and she wasn’t sure how well she could handle Renjun’s touches. The night had been a mess, and she didn’t want him to think she was the type of friend who was into hookups. They might come to regret it, especially if Renjun was going to continue to crush on Violet.
“Did I do something?” he asked, releasing his hold on her. She shook her head, planting her feet onto the ground, sitting up straight.
“I’m sorry that Violet bailed on our movie night,” she said softly, her eyes unable to meet his.
“Oh, right, yeah,” he said, falling back into the cushions of the sofa. He ran a hand through his hair, and he gave a nervous chuckle. They sat together in silence for a few moments, and then he spoke up again. “Why did you kiss me?”
“You kissed me,” she replied, shoving him gently by pushing her hand against his knee. “You started it.”
“The details don’t matter,” he said, sitting up straight. “We kissed, I liked it, and I know you did too.”
“So?”
“So...can I kiss you again?”
He barely had the question out of his mouth when she’d already begun to climb onto his lap. She held onto his shoulders as she straddled him while he rested his hands on her hips. They kissed, her fingers running gently through his hair as she dove her tongue into his mouth, giving a soft moan every time his mouth was able to capture her tongue to suck on it. When her lips began to burn, feeling a little swollen, Alexandria pushed against Renjun’s chest, and sat up straight, looking into his eyes.
“This is a bad idea,” she said.
She shut her eyes and bit her bottom lip, pulling his head to rest on her shoulder as his hands slid down to grab her ass. She raked her fingers through his hair as she panted heavily, breathing through her mouth as his hands groped and squeezed her ass cheeks. Instinctively, her hips thrust against his, but she closed her mouth and found the willpower to shove against his chest, getting off his lap to sit back down beside him.
“What’s so bad about it?” he asked, out of breath, his eyes looking at her in a way she’d never seen before. His eyes were darting around, seeming to look over every inch of her.
“I mean, I think Violet and Joey are back together, but...you know, what’s going to happen when they break up for good?” she asked, brushing her bangs with her fingers, trying not to look at him.
“I don’t know,” he said, shrugging.
“You really don’t care about her? This girl you’ve been crushing on for months?”
Renjun gave her a grin. He sat up in his seat, and he said, “Dria, I forgot that you invited me here for Violet. It’s just you and me here, and I like it better when it’s just you and me.”
“So are you saying that you like me?” she asked.
“Dria, you just felt my boner poking your ass,” he said, making her blush. “Yeah, I like you. What? You don’t like me? I can go home.”
He made to stand up, but she reached over and grabbed his arm.
“No!” she shouted. “Renjun! I like you! Stay. You have to stay.”
“Oh, I have to stay now?” he asked, guffawing as he moved to stand up. “I thought you wanted me to leave.”
“I watched that scary movie with you!” she said, placing herself onto his lap. “You have to give me company now, because I’m going to have nightmares.” She kissed his cheek, making him stop as he grinned at her, his face turning pink. “What a twist,” she said softly. He laughed, touching her chin to tilt her head toward his, and then kissed her.
“None of our friends are going to see this coming,” he admitted.
“Can we watch another movie?” she asked him, resting her head onto his shoulder.
She didn’t want to think or talk about their friends. He kissed her cheek, smiling at her before picking up the remote to scroll around for another movie to watch. He insisted all the movies he wanted to watch weren’t very scary, the title cards and movie posters just looked scary. She didn’t believe him, but eventually let him pick a movie for them to watch. As much as she didn’t like scary movies, it was worth it since she was in Renjun’s arms.

stir fry | gojo x f!reader
one-shot collection masterlist: the little things || gojo x f!reader
"The RECIPE'S WRONG," Gojo yells in your ear, swiping your phone from your hand.
"HOW would the recipe be wrong?" you fold your arms in disbelief and stare at him.
"You don't have to follow the recipe," He says, face close to yours as if taunting you, "Look, I know you can't cook well-"
"HEY-"
"I KNOW YOU CAN'T COOK WELL," he continues, putting his hand over your mouth, "but let me take it from here, okay?" he smirks not removing his hand so you give him a muffled answer in response.
"What was that? i couldn't hear y- EWWW" he whips his hand back because you licked the inside of it. He wipes it on his shirt hastily.
"We have to work together," you smirk, "teamwork. I know you're not very good at- HEYYY," you say this time. You were going to poke his forehead but he activated his barrier. He grabs your hand and lowers it.
"Fine. We'll work together." he grumpily agrees.
"We'll go by the recipe and then you can change it up at the end. Deal?"
"Deal," he sighs.
"Thanks," you smile and snatch your phone back. The both of you work in silence cutting up whatever vegetables and mixing whatever sauces for this stir fry you're making. The kitchen soon comes to life with smells and sounds.
"See, the thing with stir fry is-," Gojo starts, looking at the pan, "you have to make it sweet."
"Oh my god Gojo," you gasp as he pours in a bunch of brown sugar.
"No, no, this will work." he says with the most confident smile you've ever seen. You glance at him dubiously but continue stirring the sugar into the stir fry sauce. You pour the sauce into all the rice and vegetables. Gojo watches you, leaning against the refrigerator.
He serves the stir fry and you sit on the balcony seating outside. He begins eating almost immediately.
"THIS is STIR FRY, none of that recipe stuff," he proclaims, shifting in and out so fast with another bowl that you miss it in a blink.
"Fine, let me try it," you sigh. He watches you excitedly. You hesitantly take a bite.
"It's eh."
"YOU'RE LYING, you like it, I KNOW THAT FACE." He points and you start laughing.
"YES I LIED," you take another bite, "I'll admit it's good."
"Thought so."

A/N: This is super short and sweet, but here you go! I listened to Harry Style’s album while I wrote it, so I would suggest listening to that while you read. (Only Angel or Kiwi suggested lol)
850ish words
A Migos song was blasting through the London club while you danced and laughed with your friends. It was New Years Eve and you were having a blast. You looked good, you felt good, and it was time to let loose.
“Want another drink?” your best friend, Emily asked loudly over the blasting music.
“Yeah!” you yelled back. “Let’s go get more tequila!”
You and Emily dance your way over to the bar. You aren’t paying attention and you accidentally run into someone.
“Oh my god I am so sorr...” you start to say, but then he turns around. Holy shit, this guy is a babe. He has blonde hair, beautiful green eyes and the body of a male model.
“Oh no, it was my bad, I am sorry,” he says as he flashes a smile at you. “Can I buy you a drink?”
“Uh.. yeah sure! A tequila sunrise please,” you say back. Oh boy, you are in trouble now. He’s hot, has a British accent and is buying you a drink. While he gets your drink you pull on your skirt to make sure it is still in place.
“Em - do you see this guy?” you whisper in your friend’s ear.
“Yeah he’s hot as fuck, makes me wish I didn’t have a boyfriend. If you don’t kiss him at midnight I am going to be mad.”
He turns around and hands you the drink.
“My name is Ben, by the way,” he says. “What’s yours love?”
“Y/N!” you say over the music. “This is my best friend Emily!”
“Nice to meet you,” he says looking at Emily. “What do you say we go somewhere a little quieter?”
You look at Emily, she looks worried. You whisper, “I’ll be okay, just make sure to check your phone if something isn’t right I’ll text you.”
“Sure!” you say to Ben. “Where?”
“My buddy and I have a table over there,” he says as he points to the VIP section of the club. He grabs your free hand and leads you to the table. You sit down and he sits down right next to you and puts his arm around you.
“So, you’re not from around here,” he says with a little laugh.
“No,” you say laughing back, “I studied abroad in London in college, so I am visiting some friends. They were planning on staying in for New Years but I forced them to come out with me.”
“Stay in? On New Years Eve? Well thank god you talked some sense into them!” he says as he pulls you in closer.
You look into his green eyes and see the lust coming from them. You are sure yours look the same. Before you can even think, his lips are on yours. He kisses you quickly and passionately. Your hands are on his face and his are on your lower back, pull you as close as possible to him.
All of a sudden you hear the club go wild, you pull away and look to see what is going on. It’s midnight!
“Happy New Year!” you say to Ben.
“Happy New Year love, let’s start 2019 off right,” he says as he pulls you back in for a kiss.
You stay tangled up with Ben for awhile, until your phone buzzes. You break away from him to check it.
“We are leaving in 5, you coming with?” Emily had texted you.
“My friends are leaving, I have to go,” you say as you start to stand up to walk away. His strong hand grabs yours, pulling you back.
“Don’t leave, stay with me, come home with me,” he says as he kisses your hand and up your arm.
You think about it for a second. He seems normal and not like a serial killer, why not? You sit back down and text Emily back “don’t wait for me. keep your phone on loud though just incase.”
“You convinced me,” you whisper in his ear. You start to kiss behind his ear and down his neck.
“I think... we should go back to my place now,” he says as he stands up and grabs your hand. He leads you out of the club and gets a cab.
The whole cab ride home you are all over each other. When you get back to his apartment, he opens the door as fast as he can. The second you walk into the room, he pushes you against the door and kisses you. He pins your arms to the wall and manages to wiggle off your shirt.
“Is this okay?” he asks, stopping. Asking for consent is so sexy.
“Yes..” you manage to get out while he kisses your neck.
In response, he picks you up, you wrap your legs around his waist, and he takes you into his room. He puts you down on the bed and takes off his shirt. You smile at what is underneath, you knew it would be good.
“Like what you see?” he says, smiling and biting his lip.
“Get down here,” you say, smiling at him.

AROS KING INTERVIEW
I had a chance to sit down and have a talk with Aros King, 1/3 of King Brother. Shall I call them Kingos since no one needs Migos anymore, or are these boys male representation of Destiny’s Child? It’s up to you to decide if he’s the Beyonce out of the trio, but the talk was real. While interviewing the actor, entrepreneur, model and recording artist, my respect grew for him. Let’s be real, we all are biased towards all the celebrity kids, we assume they had everything they want and need since their birth. Turns out, Aros is far from being a spoiled one. Check the whole interview if you don’t believe my word.
Tommie: "Aros King himself, ladies and gentleman. Aros, thank you for stopping by. I would like to remind you and our Hollywoodians that our interview is not gonna be censored, and I’m looking forward for a sincere conversation. I hope you’re down for it, Aros, although you knew what we were about to do. But okay, how are you doing today? Glad to have you here today.”
Aros: "I'm doing good real good. Im glad to be here, this is the first interview I've had since I been back in LA so the feeling is likewise Tommie.”
Tommie: “It’s your first interview? Whoa, this shit right here, we serving you an exclusive, hunty, first interview by Aros King since he’s back in LA. Okay, but I’m not gonna beat around the bush. You’re here for a reason. You asked me to stop posting negative things about your brother. Negative or not but you have to agree that we never lied. Why would you want us to stop? I understand that it might throw a dark shade on your family, but hey, everyone know already that the King family is going through not the best times, I’d say.”
Aros: “I just think he’s going through and as gone through enough. It’s just that with all the negative I would like to try to focus on the positive. End of the day both my brothers are very bright individuals and are talented, and even though the times are dark I don’t want the drama and darkness to overshadow their gifts. We have younger siblings that are actively on social media, they go to school and they have their friends and I don’t want them to know everything that’s going on. I don’t want them to pay for our mistakes. Including the mistakes I’ve made in the past.”
Tommie: “I hear you, and it’s something I’ve expected to hear from you. I like how you try to keep a picture perfect and be a role model to your younglings, or, at least, you try to protect them from all the negativity that is going on around you and your family. But let’s face the fact that all of the shit that happened didn’t come out of the blue. Every decision that was made and action that had it’s play, everything has it’s aftermath. And right now, you speak on your brothers being bright individuals but we’ve seen your little fight with Xaire on live stream while you guys were in Aspen. And our readers are pretty good detectives and we’ve been getting these allegations that Xaire delivered a twitter shade once your music video came out… Doesn’t seem like you guys are on them good terms right now.”
Aros: Aros rolled his eyes and places his index finger on his lip and his thumb on his chin calculating his response. “He’s upset with me. I went on live drunk after the news got out about the charges, which I do publicly apologize for that wasn’t right. I can take my actions but not my words. And I don’t try to pay attention to social media, and to me his shade was probably thrown because he’s upset about the livestream I feel like it had nothing to do with my music. And just because we fight doesn’t mean I still won’t defend and praise them.”
Tommie: “Come on, pretty boy, I know you pay attention to social media, because who doesn’t? Okay, I’m messing with you, I do believe you, you just seem like that type of guy who googles his name or goes through the name tag on IG every five minutes. Ight, I see, you that one ‘I’m my family’s ride or die’ brother. If I’d compare you, brothers, to Migos, have you ever felt yourself like Takeoff, have you ever felt left off bad and boujee?” Tommie said in Takeoff’s interpretation. “What I mean is, you are adopted, have you ever felt like you don’t belong there? Have you ever felt not welcomed by your brothers, or sisters, or Deleon?”
Aros: Aros eyes widen at her response and he shakes his head, “A few times I have googled myself I mean I need to make sure google images doesn’t have any jacked images of me surfing around. I mean being adopted by Deleon was confusing, because technically only Xaire and my twin sisters are my siblings, but my Deleon wanted us to all look at each other as brothers so when my father wasn’t interested in being my dad, Deleon stepped up and did that. Which was confusing cause instead of one brother I have two, and biological Silas isn’t my blood, but I was raised to care for him like he was. At times I do feel left out, lets be real I don’t look like Deleon at all. I can’t do a harlem shake to shave my life, like they be doing all the time. Growing up I felt like we was all close but as we got richer things changed. Xaire and Silas have this bond that’s amazing and I just keep busy with work and when I’m not at work I’m with my twin sisters.” Aros says being completely honest with her. “It’s just when I found out my mom was divorcing Deleon and when I disowned her, she disappeared and then they just found her body in ⏤ . I came to realize family isn’t always promised and I never should have been angry at my mother for not wanting to stay in a relationship wasn’t happy with, I just really didn’t want to lose Deleon as a Dad.”
Tommie: “Growing up in a big family, it’s always hard, you know, especially when everyone know who the fuck you are and when ya’ll motherfuckers be rich as fuck. Everyone try to get in your business. Constant pressure. This shit is hard. Especially for you, but I look at you and I see a young man who knows how to handle things. I like hearing the love and respect in your voice when you talk about Deleon, and I’m sorry about your mother. I can feel your pain because I’ve been through a lot with my mom, my sisters, my brothers, but at the end of the day, family is family. Speaking of Deleon. Where he is? I just seen a Christmas picture of him and twins yet I never heard about him taking over The Deleon Dynasty. What’s up with the label?”
Aros: “Deleon is still in LA and he is at home he just locked away figuring things out. And since the summer no one as ran the label and since I’m done filming at the moment I figured why not move back to LA and help run the label, Since Silas is no longer interested in taking over the label. So the label is going through a revamp, I changing up a few contracts and trying to sign new artist so my Father will have something to come back to, Like our family as other businesses but the label is the biggest money maker. So I was thinking when all the changes are made we can do a welcome back show sometime in the New Year.”
Tommie: “Interesting, interesting. Is the ol’ man depressed or something? But what’s your vision about the label? What changes you about to make, and how you see it the nearest future? And what about the artists? I’ve heard a lot of artists have been running away like rats from a sinking ship.”
Aros: “I think he’s in shock with the attempted murder, the murders, losing money, losing big at the BET awards and everything else he just needs a moment. I want to rebrand the label and keep my father the face of the label since he is the genius behind it all. I replaced all the staff and I understand that some artist will leave but they won’t have the same support anywhere else, My father does care about his artist and the music industry. XXXTentacion benefit charity concert was a huge hit and my father planned that show in two days. Unlike these other labels we care and we let our artist express themselves freely, we get the best care we can get for our athletes signed under us. Regardless of the bullshit The King Family produces magic we are still black excellence.”
Tommie: “Long Live X. Okay, I’m all here for the black excellence. Tell me more about artists though, who’s on a label, who you’d like to sign and looking forward to work with?”
Aros: "Well I’m working on signing 6ix9ine, and I don’t know...I haven’t met all the artist I just want to give them a creative space to work in to make this money."
Tommie: “You’re trying to sign 6ix9ine? Who would’ve known. Well, I think it’s all I wanted to know. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and vision with us. Anything else you’d like to say before you leave?”
Aros: “Make sure to check out all out success coming in 2019!! Don’t sleep on the King’s!!”

For Your Viewing Pleasure: Shincihiro Sano/ Takeomi Akashi/ Wakasa Imaushi/ Keizo Arashi x Fem!Reader
wc: 1.3k
tw: NSFW
masterlist
song recommendation:

2. Fully nude entertainers are not by any means obligated to engage in sexual acts. All sexual acts will require consent, and consent can be revoked at any time.
3. Should a stripper revoke consent, his pay will not be docked nor altered in any way that will negatively affect him. Failure to follow this rule will result in a cancellation of services immediately, and no refunds will be given.
With that being said, here are your choices of entertainers for your event:
Takeomi "Rain Bringer" Akashi - The Cheeky Showman
"It's not like we've never hired a stripper before."
Your cheeks heat up at the sight of the tall smirking man in front of you, his long black and blonde hair pulled back behind his ears.
"C'mon, princess, don't be afraid to touch it." Eyes land on the bulge in his pants, and your hands begin to tingle. Everyone around you is waiting for you to touch this man's cock - but you can't help wondering...
"How much is she paying you for this?" Takeomi furrows his brows, trying to remember the sum of money deposited into his bank account this morning. It had been a hell of a lot for an hour show, but it also included the "hands-on" experience that so many women were after these days. And he was happy to whip it out for a pretty thing like you. You looked so green around the ears like you'd never seen a man's erect cock in his boxers before. But the more he looks at you, the more he thinks... maybe you haven't.
"I want you to give that girl over there special attention," the maid of honor said before pushing him in your direction. "She's not the bride, but she's pretty inexperienced."
Takeomi has to agree. He takes your extended hand and pulls it toward his boxers, watching your lips part as you smooth your fingers over his cock.
"That's it," he whispers. "Nice and easy." You continue to rub your fingers over it, until Takeomi fingers the waistband of his boxers, rolling it down a few centimeters.
"Want to see it?" He watches you swallow hard - oh, sweet Jesus - and then whisper a breathy:
"Yes" to his inquiry.
And that's how Takeomi finds himself standing while you're kneeling, cock settled right between your rosy lips.
"Fuck... Such a bad girl, aren't you?" You hum around Takeomi's cock, letting your wet tongue roll over his length before sucking him back into your warm, wet mouth. He smooths his hair back, hand on your head as the other girls' cheering fades back into his ears like a dull roar. If you keep it up with those pretty, tear-lined eyes, he's going to cum - and that would be a first.
Keizo "Redcliff" Arashi - The VIP Experience
"Just look at me," the man above you whispers, cradling your head with both of his hands as he grinds his hips into yours. Your dress is rolled up around your thighs, and you can hear the other bridesmaids giggling and talking about the show in front of them with excitement, but Redcliff commands you to look at him and ignore the rest.
Your hands roll down his muscled arms and rest on his hips, where he's partially clothed, and he hisses softly. Redcliff's eyes narrow, and he leans forward, placing a tender kiss on the corner of your lips.
"Sure you don't want to...?" he purrs into your ear, and you rethink your request for him to keep his boxers on. You can feel the massive erection in his pants, but you can't seem to bring yourself to fully acknowledge it with your words. If you do... you'll admit you're absolutely attracted to him - a male entertainer.
"No," you finally admit, looking up at him. "Take them off."
A smile crawls across Redcliff's face as he works himself off of you, then stands, turning around to show everyone what's hidden in his shorts.
A low gasp echoes around the living room, and your eyes water at the sight.
"Y/n, he's all yours!" the bride yells from the group, and your mouth pops open, staring at the lengthy appendage in awe.
"Think you can take all of this?" Redcliff wonders, smirking as he pumps his cock lazily.
"Holy fucking shit." The bride pushes a chair over to him with her foot and commands with her hand for him to sit. "We're not leaving this party until you ride his dick, so get to it. I paid for a show, and I'm getting a damn show."
Imaushi "White Leopard" Wakasa - The Relentless Flirt
"This is a sweet party you've put together for your friend," Waka whispers in your ear. "She's very lucky to have you."
Your hands grip the sides of the sink while your hips angle back onto his fingers, the clicking sounds being drowned out by the sounds of the running water. You're enjoying this a lot - but there's something in the back of your head that reminds you that there are women only fifty feet away from the bathroom that are expecting you to play hostess.
"Please, Waka," you whisper, eyes fluttering. "We-- we have to get back to the--"
"They're not missing us," he counters, checking to make sure the door is locked. "She's opening her presents. And I'm opening mine." You pant as his fingers stroke your walls, focusing on your g-spot with ease.
A moan slips past your lips, and you shake, hoping the girls can't hear a single sound past the water. Waka catches your eyes in the mirror and smirks at you, showing his teeth.
"Wanna cum on my fingers?" Past your better judgment, you nod eagerly, praying he would make it quick so you could pretend to be the loyal and pure maid of honor once more. "No need to pretend," Waka whispers in your ear. "I know you want to let loose."
You hold onto your sanity with all you have, trying to avoid the inevitable. Suddenly, the door to the bathroom rattles.
"Y/n? You in there?" Waka covers your mouth with his other hand, waiting for the woman at the door to disappear. "Waka's disappeared, too," she yells to someone else, then huffs.
"I hope she's not drunk. She's really flirty when she drinks too much." The evil grin on Waka's face is enough to tell you that you're in some sort of trouble.
"Holding out on me, huh?" You grunt past his hand, feeling your orgasm approach. "Let them hear you, then."
"Oh, fuck!"
Shinichiro "Shin" Sano - The Shy Newbie
Girls were squealing.
Squealing.
Over him.
How could he explain to every single one of them that he's not used to this type of attention?
"Shin, over here!" You wave your hand at him, hoping his attention will become yours for a moment, and it does. Shinichiro tries to mimic Takeomi's confident strut, but it feels awkward and kind of clunky. Especially when he's clothed in only socks.
Shinichiro is erect, there's no doubt about that. All of the pretty faces and eyes lighting up at the sight of him is a massive turn-on. There are over twenty faces in here, and that's a fact. Should make up for all of those rejections.
"Can I touch it?"
"Sure..." You reach your hand out to stroke his cock, and he stiffens, biting his lip to avoid moaning out loud. And you keep touching his dick. Really, this is more than enough for Shinichiro to keep in his mind for future... research purposes. He angles his hips toward you, trying his best to keep his cool as you jerk him off.
This is heaven... And Shinichiro doesn't ever want it to end.
So... which one will you choose for your pleasure?

Coffee Bean Part 2
Part 1
Pairing: Chanyeol x Reader
Genre: Fluff with some angst
Original Gif: BlondeJongin
Summary: It is said that the string of Fate can never be tangled, make annoying knots, or ever break. But can it be untied from one person at the end?
A/N: I know this is pretty late, this was supposed to be posted at 9 p.m. and since I went into work early, “tonight” ended up being tomorrow (today). It’s nearly 1 a.m. now, I’m listening to “The Women of Hamilton” while eating mac and cheese, ready to post this drabble. Honestly nothing satisfies me more than right now…besides sleep for my brain of course. Anyway! Please enjoy!
“Cada latido prometio, que ibas estar siempre con migo.” -Alejandro Fernandez
________
That morning Jongin spends his time in the kitchen preparing breakfast by himself. He woke up early enough to make a traditional Korean brunch, confident from the start however midway into action he wakes Yixing up in need of his assistance. Much to his surprise, Jongin had ingredients were cluttered all atop of the counter.
As he cleans, Yixing utters complaints through his teeth. Once the kitchen mostly cleaned up, the other gentleman greet one another the main room all in their boxers and T-shirts.
“Y/N isn’t here.” Minseok leans against the doorway sipping on a glass of juice. Sehun perks his head and ears. “But she just got here yesterday, and it’s eight a.m.”
“I know, I just passed by the room she was sleeping in to say good morning but it was empty.”
Y/N used to pull all nighters back in the day. Whenever the boys dropped by her condo they always find her in the same positions. Seated on her couch with a coffee and script in hand or outside admiring the sunset with just coffee.
She loved sleep but never liked getting up before the peak of sunrise. In result for any typical night owl, her body always sprawled on her bed tangled in sheets, wetting the pillow with fresh drool.
Kyungsoo unlocks his phone to contact her.
She despised the sun for shining on her face through the curtains.
“She went to go see Chanyeol.” Everyone looks at Sehun whose serving food on plates. “That’s it, I bet that’s why Y/N left early. That’s the only reason.” His actions grow furiously on the rice, the clatter of bowls filling up the house. “She would rather find him than have breakfast with us after years of being overseas.”
“Sehun, will you relax? Y/N wouldn’t be desperate enough to fly all the way here and search the whole country for one guy.”
“Actually she did.” The boys give Baekhyun their attention hearing the bang of his mug on the table locked within strong fingers. waiting for sitting in his chair scratching the back of his ear. “She left very early while we were asleep.”
He purses his lips.
“But you were still awake to hear her leave?” Kyunsoo asks. “No, I wasn’t awake either.” Baekhyun reminds himself of the night before, the minute before Y/N lays on the bed he held her shoulder and Y/N grabbing his fingers without turning around. ‘I had no idea’
_____
“But you’re not mine.”
You sat at the same coffee table you and Chanyeol used to sit together. He wore a white sweater and a black hat, his ears pointed out. He gives you a smile showing a bit of his darn eye bags. The coffee cup in your hand was already half full of mocha, his didn’t move it stayed in front of you. Chanyeol’s eyes linger the side of your face, noticing the glow flashing off your cheekbones.
“Besides if I ever told you would it have made you panic and run?”
Chanyeol huffs a smirk “From you Y/N, not this time.” He lips make the shape of an upside down crescent that automatically brings a shy smile on you, your cheeks burn at the top of their bones. “If I were to run, I wouldn’t be here asking you to say it then now would I?”
Your hand caress atop his large hands envelope around yours. This was a huge step..
“Can I start with the beginning? Like when I first saw you?”
His thumb grazes yours again. “Yeah?…”
You bit your nails, played with your hair, checked the time, and drank your coffee to calm your heart beating erratically in your chest.
“Miss, are you waiting for someone?” You turn your head alertly to a male barista.
“Oh, actually…” You quickly scan the cafe. “I was, but I guess they forgot. Please excuse me.” You grab everything, still holding the cup. “Thank you very much uh, Lu.”
With that you drink the last gulp of the now cold and disgustingly heavy mocha and leave the cafe with a heavy pound on your chest. You check the time again on your phone, 11:59.
You had been there since seven in the morning, watching the street live in front of you-not much different from New York except the language of course.
How in the world would your reunion with Chanyeol turn out? Would he even recognize you? Would you even recognize him the same? Would it be important to him?
Does he still really ‘love’ you as told last night? Would you still feel anything? If so, how is it possible?
He was your inspiration for poems. You used to dream about seeing his smile again. His sweet smile and the bags that naturally form under his eyes when he smiled. You always knew Chanyeol was adorable for a grown man, but during one of your conversations his eye bags leveled up his cuteness. You swore it made you tear up.
“Ah Chan!” You comb your hair back running your fingers through. You try clenching your jaw to avoid it, yet a pool of tears form in your eyes.
“How many memories of us are going to run through my mind? That’s all we’ve become…memories.” You swallow the suffering pain in your throat.
“Now you probably forgot giving me your word. Most likely in love with your wife… and you probably forgot about me.”
______
He stood in the sunlight dressed in his dark violet polo shirt tucked in slim around his waist. “No, no, no my father-in-law wants the array of breakfast pastries outside the door once he settles our meeting not before it begins.”
He trots in the hallway gluing his ear to his phone. “Also he says leave the cream cheese off the chive omelets and replace them with the mini crab cakes. Please do not mess this up. Thank you.”
His father-in-law was perfectionist needing whatever he wants to meet his high standards.
Chanyeol inserts his hands in his pockets looking around the campus out the window. Even with this two hour meeting scheduled, he would still be able to stop by that cafe ordering an Iced Americano and any bread he wanted. He doubt time would allow him to sit next to the windows to just relax and think.
He sees the body of his father-in-law and his daughter standing at the other end of the room and he greets them, bowing his head smiling. Chanyeol was used to being without the ring most of the time he absent mindedly let his father in law spy on his hands laying them on the table.
“Yeol, you still haven’t found your ring?”
Chanyeol whips his eyes to his bare fingers letting his mouth hang open.
The answer escapes his lips in a stutter.
“I did sir yesterday. I placed it on table next to my side before going bed it’s still at home on my bedside table.”
“A married couple should always wear their bands on their hands. It’s a requirement not an option.” He can only make a few glances at the man in front of him, feeling the fiery eye contact brazing against him. Chanyeol lays his hands on his legs, balling his fingers in his palms.
“Yes sir.”
“You know how much my daughter means to us. As man and wife she’d like to match everything with you starting off with rings. You’re a charming man Mr.Park.”
Chanyeol nods, pursing his lips together. “Thank you sir.”
The space between them is thick, Chanyeol’s hands grip the edge of his seat, shudders race under his skin
“Ladies offering their hearts to you doesn’t surprise me, unless you were married.”
He perks his head up, “I am Sir to Somil.”
The man pushes his a mug towards his son in law.
“Somil tells me you two haven’t had any sort of connection. Did you two have another fight?” He leans his chin against his fingers. “Is there someone secret on either side?”
The contact burns enough scorching the pain twice as much in Chanyeol’s chest. His eyes widen at realization of the last question, “No sir, no one at all.”
He nods. “We expect nothing but the best for my soft cloud’s marriage survive with a husband like you.” Chanyeol sharply inhales, his Adam’s apple bobs up and down.
“And Somil shall have it Sir.”
Those were the exact words he had given to his wife and her family the day he signed the license.
“A smart lad since the start.Drink some water, you look like your getting your nerves up.”
____
Later that night…
Chanyeol looks through multiple drawers. His fingers had been without that ring for forever, it was barely ever seen. He lost his wedding band somewhere around the house months into his marriage once he removed it.
That string he made years back never left its place, no one ever asked about it. The string with the two beads and the brightest red he saw when he pulled it out the rainbow of other yarn.
His string he keeps around the strap of his book bag.
The color remained as brand new in the lighting in his house it looked brand new on his finger like the very first time she tied it on him. While tying hers on her finger, he remembers the shy grin on her face as her cheeks burned, with the way her teeth sank in her bottom lip.
Looking through the letters his shoe box, Chanyeol whips out his phone that ringed from his blazer’s pocket. His screen flashes a box on his wallpaper.
