Life Update: Things Going From Bad, to Worse (Iām likely going to be homeless soon!)
Hello there everybody. This is General Snivy. Itās been a while since I last posted an update outside my artwork, random tweets, and retweets on Twitter. (And for those asking, I refuse to call Twitter āXā! Itās such a stupid rebrand, but thatās not what weāre talking about today!) Today, I want to talk about whatās been happening with me in my personal life and how things have officially gone from bad, to worse. To catch people up, back in December 2022, I started my stream playthrough of Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix and I have only done one session of the game so far. I had every intention of continuing the playthrough, but life got in my way, grabbed me by the ankles, and dragged me along against my will. To make a long story short, my computer broke on me, twice within ~20 days in between the first problem and the second. After I got my computer fixed the 2nd time, Mom and I prepared ourselves to go on a road-trip to see my sister back in May of this year. After the trip, other personal things kept happening and thus, I didnāt have time to stream at all. Recently, on June 30th, my computer froze up on me while I was doing my monthly backup of my computer with WinRAR. (Which could mean that Iām having overheating issues again.) Thankfully, after hitting the physical reset switch on my computer, I was able to reboot, complete the backup, and take care of whatever else I needed to do before shutting it down properly and I havenāt turned it on again since. The reason why I havenāt used my desktop computer since June 30th is that this was how my first GPU (my graphics card) died on me the first time and I fear that my current GPU, which is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 770, may be on its way out too, but I donāt know that for sure. I intended to get my computer checked out and possibly repaired this month as I have the money to pay for labor and a potential GPU replacement, if necessary. However, as of a couple of days ago, we received a letter from our realtor company, informing us that our rent will be increasing from ~$1250 per month, to ~$1500 per month come October 1st, 2023, which is an increase of roughly $250 per month! Worse, is that we had our rent increased earlier this year and we were barely making it! Now, we wonāt be able to pay our new rent bill coming up and we have 2 months to pack up all of our stuff and find a new, cheaper place to live! What this means, for me, is that I cannot get my computer looked at or fixed if thereās a problem with it as I have to hold onto my money to help Mom with paying for a moving company to move all of our furniture and stuff to a new home! So, we need to pay first months rent, last months rent if applicable (which it is, most of the time.) and the security deposit at the new location! Donāt be surprised if I end up going off the grid for a while come October as Mom and I will likely be homeless and all of our services will be shut off due to our phone service being tied to our ISP, Spectrum. (We might be able to keep our mobile services without internet, but Iām not holding my breath.)
At this point, it should be obvious that my stream playthrough of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix is on indefinite hiatus until weāre able to find a new place to live, until I can either get my computer fixed or better yet, replaced, and when I have time to stream after the dust is settled. (So much for guaranteeing that Iād be able to stream again this year. What can I say, life happens.) Thankfully, I still have my old school laptop to work with, but thereās no way in Hell that it can be used for streaming as it can barely run Windows 10 as is due to it being an ancient relic from 1930. (Thatās an exaggeration, but you get my point.) You might be wondering, āCanāt you just use your PS5ās built-in streaming feature to stream more Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix?ā Technically, yes, but the problem is copyright as the ending song is copyrighted and I have no way of muting it myself. I can get away with talking over the song as much as humanly possible, but only on Twitch as theyāre a little more lenient when it comes to that kind of stuff. YouTube, no. Not at all. That would very likely get blocked in several countries with the quickness of the Flash and Sonic the Hedgehog combined! I could skip the credits and avoid the problem entirely, but I want to show off the people who had a hand at developing the game. Skipping the credits outside of a speedrunning setting is just rude and disrespectful, in my opinion.
I have thought about learning how to speedrun another game that I can play on my PS5 in the meantime, but then I run into another problem; time. Time is something Iāve been lacking lately and to be able to learn a new game, plus being able to stream my attempts, is a commitment and time is something I just donāt have right now. Not only that, but to keep up with a consistent stream schedule is something Iāve struggled with for years due to my personal life taking priority over stream and creating content. Plus, with recent events, those plans went out the window completely.
Some of you may be wondering, āSince youāre posting artwork on Twitter and other social media channels, couldnāt you open up commissions to have us help you out with your dire financial situation?ā There are a few reasons as to why Iām not doing so at this point of time, but the TL;DR of it is, I need to do more research as to how to go about accepting commissions, which payment platform to use to handle payments from clients safely, and how I can best track these commissions after accepting them, amongst other things. I do have a general idea of how I want to go about setting up a commission sheet of what I will and will not draw, but there are a few more things I need to figure out and finalize. Plus, I need to come up with prices of what kind of artwork Iāll provide, plus examples for said prices. I also need to figure out a Terms of Service for my work as one can never be too careful when it comes to dealing with certain bad actors and businesses transactions, in general. Better to be safe than sorry.
So yeah, thatās everything thatās going on right now. Iām going to be having a hectic two months or so, scrambling to pack up everything, finding a new place to live, and getting my computer either fixed or replaced. I know that Iāve been keeping you all hanging for the past year and for that, I cannot apologize enough for my lack of content and to some extent, lack of communication. It may look like Iāve been lazy, but Iāve been dealing with life behind the scenes and as I always say, life comes first before content creation. For those who continue to stick with me, despite my lack of activity, thank you for doing so. I appreciate it. And, for those who left, thanks for joining me, regardless of how long you did so. I hope that I entertained you while I was active and that you enjoyed my content. If you wish to keep up with me and whatever I post, Iām most active on Twitter (aka, X. God, I cannot get over that name change!) so, follow me there. My Twitter handle is @/GeneralSnivy (Remove the slash.) This is General Snivy. Thank you for taking the time to read this long winded update and I hope to be able to stream again in the near future. See yāall again!

Alan Wake 2 Download PC
Alan Wake 2: The First Preview gamescom 2023
At the end of the first game, Alan allowed himself to be trapped in a world known as the āDark Placeā to free his wife. Once again, NVIDIA and Remedy Entertainment are partnering to deliver a jaw-dropping experience for PC gamers, leveraging bleeding-edge technologies to crank image quality, immersion and performance to 11. On PC, Alan Wake 2 players can marvel at fully ray traced (path traced) graphics that are accelerated and enhanced by NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and NVIDIA Reflex. This admittedly isnāt genuine detective work such as that seen in games like Paradise Killer and Return of the Obra Dinn. But the approach does provide the sense of your actions pushing the case forward and opening up new lines of investigation. And while the gift shop lock is a very simple example, I can see the board being vital to the much larger Cult of the Tree case, where there will likely be substantially more leads and categories of evidence.

Alan Wake may be living in a hell of his own design, but it looks like I might soon be playing in a heaven of Remedyās making. And after watching a full 40-minute demo, played from the perspective of Wake himself, it certainly looks set to be Alan Wake 2 Download PC a tale worth telling. Taking place in an area called The Dark Place, this lengthy slice of the story follows Alan as he makes his way through an oppressive and haunting replica of New York City riddled with danger, gunfights, and puzzles.
DLSS 3.5 is a major breakthrough for the real-time 3D editing experience. This fall, DLSS 3.5 will be added to Chaos Vantage, D5 Render, and NVIDIA Omniverse. Each hand-tuned denoiser accumulates How to Download Alan Wake 2 pixels from multiple frames to increase detail, in effect stealing rays from the past, but at the risk of introducing ghosting, removing dynamic effects, and reducing the quality of others.
All Remedy releases use the developer's proprietary Northlight Game Engine, and this game is set to be "the most beautiful Remedy game ever." All of this will help the developer create a deep and layered story that also connects with its gameplay. NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 makes your games even more beautiful, immersive and realistic with the introduction of Ray Reconstruction, a new AI-powered technique that further improves the quality of ray tracing. DLSS Alan Wake 2 Download 3.5 is available for all GeForce RTX users, and you can get the complete lowdown in our NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 announcement article. Where the 2010 original was a relentless action game dressed in a Halloween costume, Alan Wake 2 is a full-bore survival horror. It comes complete with puzzles, exploration, backtracking, and a crime fiction libraryās worth of creeping dread. It feels like almost every element of Alan Wakeās gameplay has been reinvented. It has been a long wait, but fans of the Alan Wake will finally be gettingĀ the sequel they have been hopingĀ for with Alan Wake II. The shift in gameplay style will prove to be interesting and something different, with all the graphical updates to go with it. There's a long way to go before Alan Wake 2 Download it releases, but at least now, you know it's coming. You can read more on the subject in Ed's Alan Wake 2 preview from the summer. Each week there are even more DLSS integrations arriving for an array of games, and in our weekly articles we give you the complete lowdown on them all. Out in the real world (or at least what seems like the real world) ā the domain of our second protagonist, FBI agent Saga Anderson ā developer Remedy Entertainment has crafted a new collage from pieces of its favourite detective stories. The eerie shadows of True Detective, Seven, and The Silence of the Lambs creep through Alan Wake 2ās gorgeous digital depiction of the Pacific Northwest. On a vacation in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Alice Wake, he came face to face with a force of supernatural darkness. He fought this dark presence and managed to banish it back to where it came from, a nightmarish dark place hidden under a caldera lake outside the small town of Bright Falls. Wake wrote an ending to his horror story and with that freed his wife from the darkness under the lake but became trapped there himself.

It also interpolates neighboring pixels, and blends this information together, but at the risk of blending away too much detailed information, or not blending enough and creating non-uniform lighting effects. After scoring a degree in English from ASU, I worked as a copy editor while freelancing for places like SFX Magazine, Screen Rant, Game Revolution, How to Download Alan Wake 2 and MMORPG on the side. Now, as GamesRadar's west coast Staff Writer, I'm responsible for managing the site's western regional executive branch, AKA my apartment, and writing about whatever horror game I'm too afraid to finish. For now, Alan Wake 2 is the nearest on the horizon at Remedy, and it's one of our most anticipated new games of 2023.
Several years after the crewās reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat thatās roused them out of early retirement. Ray Reconstruction will be available for all GeForce RTX users - get the complete lowdown in our NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 announcement article. And catch it on GeForce NOW to stream it from the cloud if you donāt have a game-ready device. In Portal with RTX, textures are enhanced Alan Wake 2 pc download as Ray Reconstruction intelligently accumulates engine data and information across multiple frames to produce a more accurate and clear image. With existing rendering techniques, full ray tracing could struggle to resolve multiple photons of light bouncing against thin materials, like metal fences, or highly reflective surfaces. This could cause excessive shimmering on thin surfaces and light instability or āboilingā on reflective walls.

Hi op. You caught me when I was in a mood to write A Book.
So take all this with a grain of salt as I am also as you said too pretty to understand all these numbers, but, I also literally just finished researching the same thing for myself r n so I thought id share my method:
if you are using this specifically for gaming, id legit look up some of the games you want to play on steam + start w their system requirements.
lets use Cyberpunk 2077 for an example, since it should set a pretty high benchmark:
IMAGE ID:
System Requirements - Minimum
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K or AMD FX-8310
Memory: 8 GB ram
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 470
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 70 GB available space
System Requirements - Recommended:
Same as above, except for the following:
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G
Memory: 12 gm ram
Graphics: GTX 1060 6GB / GTX 1660 Super OT Radeon RX 590
Notes: SSD recommended.
END ID.
So first off, were going to re-examine the hard drive + RAM recommended.
Its a bit of a red flag that 70gb is both the minimum storage and the recommended storage. That tells me we should actually expect it to be more. So, im going to pull a NASA round that to 100 and double it; lets say we should have at least 200gb to run this comfortably.
I think we should also expect to need significantly more than the recommended amount of RAM. RAM is used by p much everything and is directly related to how well a PC can multitask, so if you want to *just* play your game + maybe do something 'lite' as well 12 would probably do - but if youre in fandom you might be doing things like writing or gifmaking simultaneously, in which case you'll want a significant boost in RAM. considering the difference between minimum and recommended ram is 4gb, im gonna say lets do another increase of 4gb.
im also going to say if the recommendation says ssd thats important enough to include; more details on the SSD, the graphics, and the CPU later.
so, just from looking at one game to start I know I personally want the following minimums:
Windows 10 or later, must be 64-bit;
16+ GB of RAM;
200+ GB SSD/solid state hard drive.
if I was in a hurry/didnt want to do much more research, this is what id start plugging into different websites + filtering for to get an idea of what prices to expect.
some general notes on buying computers online:
it helps a lot if you have at least one more tech savvy friend you can show potential buys to for a 'sanity check'; they can spot things like scams or 'too good to be true's you just wont be able to see due to difference in experience.
you can save a lot of money buying from a refurbishers but be careful. green flags: free returns, refurbishers warranty or guarantee, especially if its more than 90 days. red flags: no returns or pay to return, anything that makes returns too difficult.
if you buy from a big name place they'll usually offer extra warranties for a monthly or one time fee; depending on the fine print they can sometimes be really worth it. eg accidental drop protection on a laptop, data recovery on a media PC
now lets talk more specifics on processing/CPUs and graphics/GPUs.
if you have the time to research, this is the thing that is 20% of the work but takes 80% of the time.
believe it or not you can have a gaming PC that is p much just *perfect* expect for these 1 or 2 parts and it will not run your game. Worse, these are parts that are not easily replaceable/upgradable - unless youre p comfortable w building PCs as a hobby, you should basically expect this is not something you can change - once this is outdated you will be replacing your pc.
I am simplifying a *lot* here, but badically, GPU means 'processing power specifically as pertains to graphics'; most listings wont mention the GPU at all, some will mention an integrated GPU; these are more likely to be machines that probably can play some games but arent really optimized for it.
'dedicated separate GPU' is a massive green flag a pc has been beefed up specifically to be v good at graphics, meaning your odds its a dedicated gaming pc or maybe even an art PC are much much higher
(this is another thing where your scam checker/more tech savvy friend could be very useful; they might be able to tell you at a glance if a listing that says its a gaming PC can handle a triple A or maybe just minecraft - and hopefully also give you an idea how long until even Minecraft is too beefy for it.)
If you dont have that friend, I would recommend make sure the CPU+GPU are both some well-known 'all we do is gaming' brand
eg looking at that Cyberpunk 2077 example again - notice some of the brands we see: Intel, AMD, GTX, etc.
Intel does a little bit of everything, you will see Intel appear in listings again and again - *but* that also makes it harder to tell if youre looking at a general purpose machine or a dedicated gaming machine. If you stick with well known gaming brands + parts - eg not just AMD brand but the AMD Ryzen line - then you should be good.
If you want to do this part the long way, it will require actually learning a bit about 'architecture' as pertains to processors + operating systems - and thats about the point where my brain noped out and decided I need a break.
Some final quick notes:
1) avoid anything with eMMC. this is a type of storage used in lightweight netbooks and a huge red flag this pc will not be able to handle, like, anything.
2) ssd is worth it. again skipping over technical details, it is a huge green flag to see a pc w 2+ hard drives, and the os is kept super safe + protected on its own separate SSD.
3) god damn man, games are beefy these days and getting beefier all the time. if youre going to be upgrading anything its probably your storage and RAM.
keep in mind: upgrading can be a real headache if you are not a pc hobbyist. you will probably be tempted to go oh ill add more ram later it'll be cheaper but I would strongly recommend you pay for a little more ram at the outset instead. believe it or not sometimes you get headaches like your ram doesn't all 'match' so you have to replace all of it at once rather than just add a little later - personally i think a little more capital investment is well worth avoiding that later. (also, youre going to want to know the max RAM + storage your pc can take)
4) storage on the other hand is easier:
there are generally less headaches when replacing internal harddrives, and you can support them with cheaper + easier to get external hard drives. if needed you could even install just a few games at a time on the ssd - this should literally make some more demanding games run better - and the rest on cheaper drives.
5) a final note/disclaimer -
I dont know if you'll find any of this useful but I hope you do. These are basically the same kind of notes I made for myself
may purchase a gaming pc but im too pretty to understand what any of these numbers mean :(

how to take screenshots using nvidia geforce experience
first off I wanna apologize for the image quality lol I had to use my phone to take a photo of my computer screen because taking screenshots would disable the GeForce Experience overlay. secondly, Iām gonna shorten it to GXP because I am Lazy.
anyways, here we go, all details under the cut so I donāt clutter anyoneās dashboard.
also Iām gonna assume you know how to pose your sim, use gshade, all that good stuff, cuz thatās not what Iām here for, there are plenty of other tutorials for those, love you tho.
so we wanna start off with pulling up the overlay with Alt + Z, and itās gonna look like this:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9b0378974cf7e8c866a86f20da5f09e2/adcef69548f7816d-bf/s540x810/022a78cc8fd6b904e8783649cdf9e937f9630037.jpg)
so these are all the things you can go with GXP, take screenshots, record, etc. the overlay is mostly useful for pulling up the settings bc you can set keyboard shortcuts for other stuff. so thatās what weāre gonna do now, open the settings.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f714e4a48810bccb4f6dbc864e8b1d9e/adcef69548f7816d-66/s540x810/1eca9420a1122db0dcd5cc5aac99da9dca2339e3.jpg)
bam, settings. thereās tons of stuff you can do in here, notably change the shortcuts (I keep the defaults). what Iām gonna show you how to do real quick is change where you save your captures, because it can be a little weird since screenshots are saved in the same place as the recordings (not sure if you can change that, I havenāt found a way to do so).
so just click on recordings, and click the 3 little dots shown below to set it to a different file path if you want to.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/878653549388d5de091d428fbd4254d9/adcef69548f7816d-e6/s540x810/2e4cac04f31d67096790e0f3715d5401b1404b04.jpg)
ok, now to actually TAKE the HQ screenshots.
Alt + F2 is the default shortcut for pulling up the āphoto modeā overlay, and itāll look like this, on the side of your screen.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7bbe165a7b575f7e9bac27e68e0acc06/adcef69548f7816d-ef/s540x810/21db9edbd3be99a27964b03346ea372d168e844b.jpg)
the settings above will take a normal screenshot with your native resolution, but thatās not what we want, so weāre gonna click on capture > screenshot (as shown above) and select super resolution (as shown below):
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6105f889ee7584f3f5e4e4d9adb460c4/adcef69548f7816d-8d/s540x810/0273d551fe93c7085190d1bf55c8ef11d143cfab.jpg)
with super resolution enabled, youāll be able to scale up the image render resolution to either 2x or 4x (maybe you have other options depending on your specs, idk, just know that the higher you go the longer itās going to take).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b6b055b359f83f9e6236743a68ee004b/adcef69548f7816d-5c/s540x810/9fc3321c45225644b4ea37c75757ed4e40328ad1.jpg)
and then bam, just click snap (unless you want to mess with the filters, thatās an option, I find it unnecessary bc I already use gshade but hey, do whatever ur little heart desires)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3898bc6dc774a8d12e5b6c4e44ec2728/adcef69548f7816d-8e/s540x810/0feec1563a72036ec0533e02628d73bcb6ffa952.jpg)
once you snippity snap that pic, youāre gonna get a lil load thingy:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/26ce70879334d29a55e2e083c868c716/adcef69548f7816d-3e/s540x810/1af8d630100d293a948992cd59402b2d412f4411.jpg)
it might take a few seconds (again, depends on your pc specs) and like i said earlier, the higher the resolution, the longer this part is gonna take. ultimately, it is a slightly slower process than using SRWE but itās one that has less issues, more official support, and you donāt need an external app for it since it comes with your PC and is just an overlay. also it doesnāt crash your game lol.
recording is easier though you just click record (or the keyboard shortcut, default is Alt + F9), click again to stop recording, and bam youāve got yourself a lil video of whatever you want.
ok love you guys hope you enjoyed this tutorial hope it helps u etc mwah
(OH IF YOUāRE NOT SEEING THE SUPER RES OPTION YOU MIGHT HAVE TO ENABLE NVIDIA ANSEL IN SETTINGS, JUST GO TO PHOTO MODE / GAME FILTER AND CLICK ON. ITāLL LOOK LIKE THIS:)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7ea05d18a282d29d900b534db48d26dd/adcef69548f7816d-70/s540x810/87ced1cd17a30a1dc12cd983eb476e6a9c93a06d.jpg)

How to install a new graphics card (GPU) in your PC
If you need more help deciding which graphics card to buy, you can read up on all our graphics card recommendations for 1080p, 1440p and 4K gaming, and you can also find the best prices for them in our regularly updated graphics card deals hub.
A few things to note before we get started. Your graphics card is one of the most powerful components inside your PC, so you'll need to make sure you've got an appropriate PSU to match. Most graphics cards will state their minimum or recommended PSU wattage on the box or on their specifications page online, but it can vary from 450W all the way up to 750W. Nvidia's new RTX 3070 GPU, for example, recommends a 650W power supply unit, while the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 recommend you have one that's at least 750W.
You'll also need to check your power supply has the correct number of cables to plug into your new graphics card. Some graphics cards only require a single 6 or 8-pin connector, for example, while others require two 8-pin connectors.
Finally, make sure your display's selection of outputs matches those on the back of your graphics card. New graphics cards tend to come with HDMI or DisplayPort outputs, so if you've been using an old monitor that only has a DVI or VGA output, for example, you might also need to think about upgrading your display in the process. If you need help with this, check out our top gaming monitor picks, as well as our gaming monitor deals hub for all the best prices.
How to install a graphics card Turn off your PC Turn your PC off at the plug, and make sure the switch on the back of your PC next your PSU is switched off as well.
A photo of a PC's power button in the 'off' position Remember to switch off your PC's power button (as pictured above). Remove the side panel Next, remove the side panel. Start by untwisting the screws on the back of your PC, and sliding the side panel backwards. This should release it, allowing you to take it off, and put it to one side.
If you're installing a graphics card for the first time, carry on reading, but if you're upgrading your existing graphics card, then you can skip down to Step 4.
Now that you've removed your PC's side panel, you should be looking at something like this:
A photo showing a motherboard and its empty PCIe slots inside a PC case. Youāll want to put your primary graphics card in the top PCIe x16 slot (the big long one). Push your graphics card into the top PCIe slot All graphics cards these days need to go in a PCIe x16 slot, which are the long, horizontal connectors on the lower half of your motherboard. Some motherboards may have a second PCIe x16 slot that can run at the full x16 speed - usually the more upmarket ones - but most of the time you'll find any additional PCIe x16 slots you have only run at x8 speed, or even x4.
As a result, it's best to install your graphics card in the top PCIe x16 slot if possible. This will always be the fastest PCIe x16 slot on your motherboard, and will result in the best performance. If in doubt, consult your motherboard manual to find out the exact running speeds of all your PCIe slots.
Before we do anything with the PCIe x16 slot, though, you need to remove the corresponding backplates. To the left of those PCIe x16 slots, you should see a number of brackets with thumb screws holding them in place. You'll need to remove some of these so you can get to your graphics card's display outputs.
Most graphics cards take up two slots, but particularly large graphics cards, such as the enormous RTX 3090, take up three. Simply untwist the ones you need to get rid of using a screwdriver (or your fingers if they're held on with thumbscrews). Make sure you keep those backplate screws nearby, though, as you'll need them again in a minute to secure the graphics card in place.
A photo showing the display ports of a graphics card on the rear of a PC case. It sounds obvious, but youāll need your display outputs poking out the back in order to connect up your monitor. Remove the backplates Remove any plastic covers on your graphics card's PCIe connector and display ports, as these will prevent you from installing your graphics card correctly.
If you're upgrading an existing graphics card, you'll also need to remove your current one. To do this, remove the screws holding it in place, disconnect any display cables attached to it, and unlock the PCIe slot security clip. This is a small plastic clip on the right hand side of the PCIe slot, and should just about be visible underneath your graphics card - see below. Then, you should be able to pull your graphics card away from your motherboard with relative ease.
A close-up photo showing the PCIe security clip on your motherboard. Before removing an existing graphics card, you'll need to unlock the PCIe security clip by pushing it down. Next, line up your new graphics card over the top PCIe x16 slot inside your case. Make sure the display output side of your graphics card is facing toward the end of your case, and push your GPU down into the slot.
If you can't push it all the way in, check that there isn't a stray backplate getting in the way. Otherwise, it should click into place in much the same way as your RAM, and sit straight along the PCIe slot. You might want to give it an extra shove, just to make sure. Once it's firmly in place, the security clip should pop back up into its original position.
Screw your graphics card into place Still got those backplate screws handy? Wherever you put them, dig them out again, as you'll now need to use them to finish off securing the graphics card in place. Just put them back into the corresponding holes and twist. This will stop the graphics card from moving up and down when you come to connect your monitor cables, and generally keep it nice and steady inside your case.
A photo showing a graphics card firmly secured inside a PC case with its thumb screws. Use the thumbscrews you removed earlier to secure your graphics card back in place. Connect your power supply Now it's time to connect your graphics card to your PC's power supply. Most graphics cards need at least one 6 or 8-pin connector, but beefier cards sometimes require two - it all depends on the make and model. Either way, though, you should have the corresponding cables in your power supply box if you went with a modular PSU, or they might even be sticking out of it already if you went for a non-modular one.
A photo showing the power connector on an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card. Some graphics cards only require one 8-pin connector, but some graphics cards need two. You'll probably want to thread the connector through to the back of your case for this if you've got the space, routing it back round the main side using the appropriate hole down the side of your motherboard that's closest to your graphics card's power connector. This helps keep things nice and tidy and improves airflow inside your case, but you can always just plug it straight in if you prefer.
Either way, these connectors are very similar to the main power cables on your motherboard - just push down and they should click into place by themselves. And you're done!
What to do next... If you're building a new PC from scratch, your next step will be installing your SSD / HDD.
For those of you who are just upgrading your existing graphics card, though, you'll want to make sure you follow these few extra steps.
First of all, you'll need to reattach your PC's side panel and re-connect your display cables. Remember, make sure you plug them back in to the display outputs coming out of your graphics card, not the ones above from your motherboard. It sounds silly, but you'd be surprised how often people make this mistake. Once that's done, you'll need to turn on your PC and install some new display drivers.
Installing display drivers To make sure your new graphics card is working in tip top condition, you'll need to make sure it has the correct display drivers installed. If you're upgrading from an existing Nvidia card to a new Nvidia card (or indeed from an old AMD card to a new AMD card), then all you need to do is download the latest drivers from their respective websites, which I'll get to in a minute.
If you're upgrading from an Nvidia card to an AMD card (or vice-versa), however, you'll need to remove your existing display drivers first so they don't clash. AMD have detailed instructions on how to do this, but at time of writing Nvidia haven't been quite as forthcoming about this. The good news is that it effectively boils down to the same method.
To remove your current display drivers, open up Windows Settings and select Apps, or search for 'Add Or Remove Programs'. For AMD, click uninstall AMD Software. For Nvidia, you'll need to make sure you uninstall the Nvidia Graphics Driver, Nvidia GeForce Experience, Nvidia HD Audio driver, Nvidia PhysX System Software, Nvidia Control Panel and Nvidia USBC Driver if applicable.
Once everything is removed, you may be prompted to restart your PC. Do this, and wait for the system to reboot. Don't be alarmed if the resolution suddenly looks a bit funny. This is perfectly normal. Once you're back at your desktop, use the links below to download and install the latest drivers.
Once this process is complete, your desktop should have returned to its normal resolution, and you're now ready to start playing games again.

Gaming Laptop 2020
This post is my own personal opinion.
So what would I look out for? First a little overview then I will explain:
MSI or DELL are my favorites, but all work, read reviews!
CPU: i5 or higher
RAM: At least 8GB
GPU: NVIDIA GTX1050/GTX1060 or higher
HDD: SSD & HDD Hybrid or a full SSD
Screen: 1920x1080 resolution
Windows 10
The Make
I personally am a total fan of DELL due to the fact their laptops are solid, and the screen colors and clearness is incredible. But which make you pick is up to you. A lot of people also recommend MSI for gaming. You will also have to decide if you want a pure gaming laptop (these often have bright backlit keyboards and a slightly different keyboard layout) or a multimedia laptop which you can use for school work and such too. Then you must always consider that a gaming laptop is going to be a bit heavier and bulkier!
CPU
So I swear on intel. Right now you have intel i5/i7/i9. i7: If you are a creator who likes to run multiple programs at once like Blender, MD, MS etc then an i7 might be better for you i5: Good for people who just want to game! i9: the newer CPU which is a great mix for gaming and running lots of programs, but it is not a must!
RAM
You need at least 8GB RAM to be able to play sims. And you need no more than 16GB unless you plan to do something totally hard-core on your PC. I would make sure it is DDR4 but that is the norm these days. Remember you can always upgrade your RAM for about 30 GBP easily, however this will probably break your warranty (so maybe do this after). But because you can update, this isn't the most important part to check for. If it only has 8GB and you want 16GB but the rest is good, donāt let it put you off.
GPU
Sims was made to mainly work with NVIDIA and I personally am not a fan of AMD but that is everyoneās choice. The GTX1060 is super good (add Ti at the end for a little more cost and a little better graphics). The GTX1050 is also very good, but the 1060 has a better cost/efficiency ratio. Of course, now the new RTX series is out you can also go for that, maybe if you play other games. But for sims it is total overkill.
HDD
I am a great fan of SSDs. No disk cleaning needed and it will make your sims loading times speed up, also the installation and your PC boot time. Generally said to be about 5x faster than an HDD. Most laptops come with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. This means you have two partitions (not a big deal, you just need to know how to work it). If you buy a laptop with only an HDD then no worries, I personally updated mine to a 1TB SSD later (also breaks warranty) for about 200 GBP.
WARNING: some PCs will ONLY have a 256GB SSD or so in them with no HDD. This is difficult because these are small SSD chips (not those bulky HDDs you imagine) and these are expensive to upgrade to bigger sizes and the laptop will have no space for a HDD (usually). Sims people often need way more that 256GB of space so I would avoid a laptop that only has a small SSD!
Screen
Most come with 1920x1080 resolution anyway. But if you do not plan on using a second screen then take a look at DELL. They have the nicest screen with the best colors (I personally only ever buy DELL screens for this reason).
Win 10
I know it can be glitchy, but at least it is still getting security updates. At some point you will need to upgrade it anyway. Also the cool thing is, it is written into your hardware, no more codes needed. That means if I switch out my HDD for a SSD then no worries, your PC still remembers you have win 10! Makes reinstalling very easy!
But if I want a Desktop?
Well then you can fiddle a little more. The same stuff still applies but I would recommend at least a 500W Power Supply and you will need some kind of fluid cooling system probably to keep it nice and cool. Obviously you also have a lot more choices: you can get an internal SSD chip (even faster), or upgrade to a GTX1080Ti or the RTX series. You will also need to check out the companies that make your parts as lots of people produce the same GPU. You can get a bigger SSD if you like, or a bigger HDD. You will also need either a network card or a dongle (USB-WIFI stick) so you get internet. And of course you need a motherboard!Ā The main point is to make sure all the parts work well together, than your power supply is enough for your GPU and your motherboard or CPU are not so old they throttle your PC power.
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99-Ultra Gaming Intel X99 Quad Chennel DDR4 ATX CPU: Intel Core i7 6850K Hexacore 3.60GHz Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2 Tower: Antec Nine Hundred Tower V3 RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) Corsaire Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 Power Supply: 850 Watt Enermay Platimax Modular 80+ Platinum HDD: 512GB Samsung 950 Pro M.2 2280 PCIe Internal SSD
What should I do when I first get a laptop?
First thing is always, test it out!!! Open and close the lid a few times to make sure it is smooth, poke it to see if it seems stable. Play some music at the loudest settings to see if the sound is nice. Load up tumblr or so and see if the colors and clarity are correct. Run some super high spec things on it or open like 10 programs at once and render something in blender, literally just see how loud and hot it gets when it has a lot to do.
Once you know you wish to keep the laptop, my advice is REINSTALL WINDOWS 10, you can easily do this (tutorial here), or at least go through the steps to update windows and delete ALL unnecessary programs. There will be a ton of preinstalled crap on there. Get rid of it.
Then consider getting yourself a good AV program. I personally recommend ESET or Mawarebytes (paid versions). For ESET the price is under 20 dollars/euros etc per year for a license if you buy a bundle of 5. I share these 5 with family and they can also be put on your phone!
If you are still not sure which Laptop is right for you, just IM me @gruesim and I will gladly help!
